How Do You Visualize Your Self? When you ask yourself, "how do you visualize yourself?" you are entering into a "mental door" which can lead you to many different aspects of your life. First, we will discuss your past and then we will talk about your future. In order to understand how do you visualize yourself, you must first understand the fact that you have two minds in your body. Your past is the part of your mind that is focused on the present and the future, while your future is focused on the past. Your past and future are two completely different things. Your past can be compared to a road map. It shows you the path you took throughout your life, while your future shows you where you are going. Both these roads are equally important, but one takes you from here to there, while the other takes you back. It might be helpful to look at the question, "how do you visualize yourself?" from the perspective of each of your minds. The answer is that you must first look at both of them and decide which mind you want to follow. When you picture yourself before you were born, is your mind telling you that you have personal power, strength, and happiness? Or is it telling you that you don't have these things because you are a "piece of garbage"? This is your future self. You cannot change your future, but you can choose to create experiences in your life that will increase your personal power and happiness. How do you visualize yourself? In order to change your current circumstances, you must visualize yourself in the situations that you want to change into. For example, if you want to lose weight, you must imagine yourself as a fit person in a new outfit, eating healthy foods, walking daily, and doing other things that are healthy for you. If you want to become more creative, try using the technique of "flashbacks." Then visualize yourself a few times a day, each time feeling good about yourself. Many people find this technique helpful because it brings you back to reality. It forces you to pay attention to your current circumstances, instead of allowing the self-induced state of panic to dominate your thoughts. This technique can work well if you are already feeling nervous and scared about something. Other visualization techniques include running in place, meditation, self-hypnosis, or even light therapy. All of these techniques offer you choices that you probably aren't aware of when you ask yourself, "how do you visualize yourself?" The key to success with visualization techniques is to keep thinking about your goal. Each time you use a visualization technique, stop for a second and think about what you are doing now that will increase your personal power and happiness. Keep a vision board with your new image on it, and write it down as you go. This will help you remember the key steps that will help you meet your future self. The Way to Use Visualization to Attain Your Objectives Visualization shouldn't be confused with the"believe it and you'll end up it" advice peddled by popular self-help gurus. In work and life, achievement starts with a target. It might be losing weight, requesting a raise, stopping smoking, or starting your own organization.
