FUCK YEAH let’s go!!!! Pls click the Read More!
The Cross Country Team met up once a week during the off season, even though all current members would graduate soon. The warm May weather allowed their team to only have to do off-season training, and to begin conditioning in the summer should they choose to continue their sport in college.
The evening sky was slowly turning a darker shade of blue, some thunder rolling in the distance from a few towns over. Just a few small droplets of water began to fall from the sky as Susie patiently waited for her girlfriend to finish up with her teammates Jockington and Temmie. She decided to sit down and place the umbrella Toriel had allowed (forced, really) Susie to borrow on the ground as she waited, bouncing her leg.
Far, echoed voices travelled from the far side of the cement steps as she turned around to face the three monsters grouped together in what seemed like casual conversation. The three were interrupted by a far away thunderclap, and they quickly said their goodbyes.
Noelle rushed over to Susie, golden waves bouncing down each step from her ponytail. She opened her arms and quickly embraced her girlfriend. “Susie!” She held their hug for a moment longer before letting go and locking eyes with her.
“Heh, miss me?” Susie asked smugly.
“Not as much as you probably missed me, you soft sap!” She nudged Susie’s arm lightly.
Susie pressed her lips in a fine line and dramatically rolled her eyes. “Yep! You caught me red handed here, just arrest me already,” she replied in a sarcastic tone. It was fun to tease Susie this way; she seemed to respond better to this style of flirting as opposed to something more direct and complimentary. The first few times Noelle had attempted to flirt with her ended in a very flustered and embarrassed Susie from being called a hot piece of work.
It might be a good idea to stop taking dating advice from her father.
The two walked from the bleachers over to the sidewalk. They made it a habit to walk each other to wherever they needed to go as an excuse to spend time together as Noelle would be expected to attend university in a different city many, many miles away. It was Susie’s idea honestly, to make it a point to spend time together whenever they could as summer break would come and end sooner rather than later. High school graduation would be in just a few short weeks and everyone would be going their separate ways. It was also Susie’s idea to start working shifts around town, accompanying Miss Boom in driving her to her appointments, working for Asgore to do things he couldn’t do comfortably anymore, and being a relief cashier at Sans’ convenience store to save up enough money for a much better phone suited for video calling. Her old, cracked brick of a phone could barely answer a phone call, and she couldn’t take it if she couldn’t talk to her girlfriend so many miles away.
They held hands as they walked past many viridescent trees and the town Librarby. A comfortable silence was shared between them. The occasional droplet of water turned into a light drizzle which queued Susie to promptly take off her jacket and place it over Noelle’s head. She looked up with a small smile, and leaned in closer to Susie. The purple monster used her free arm to wrap it around her girlfriend and opened the umbrella with the other, covering them both.
Noelle’s interest was piqued as they passed by Sans’ shop. “Would you wanna grab a snack with me, Susie? I don’t want a full meal but I could go for something small! Plus we’ll be inside for a little bit.” She mentioned, pointing over to the lit window. Susie nodded, her stomach grumbling at the thought of having something to eat.
“Like you even have to ask,” she mumbled as she opened the door for both of them to enter.
The tall monster looked over to a sleeping Sans hunched over the counter and shook her head, rolling her eyes. It was a miracle this place was still running with him being so relaxed about their sales. No wonder she was hired, honestly.
They made their way to the candy aisle, Noelle scanning for something fruity as Susie immediately went for a packet of jerky. She opened it to put the entirety of its contents inside her jowls, which earned a stressed and unamused expression from Noelle.
“At least pay for it first, that’s so rude!”
“Hey it’s fine! I work here- he lets me grab whatever I want when I’m working!” She motioned over to the sleeping Sans. “Besides, he owes me for covering him so last minute last week. Something about Toriel and him hanging out or something,” she said with a straight face, eyes narrowed and looking away.
Noelle face softened. “Wait… that’s actually really sweet of you, Susie.”
“LOOK-!” She silently yelled, “I did it for her, not for him!
Noelle shook her head as she laughed. “Yeah, okay sure! I am so going to tell her you said that.”
“Like hell you are!”
She ended up selecting a small bag of sour gummy worms. Susie insisted she take the bag and leave, insisting she’d “charge her for it next time I worked.”
“What, is that an excuse for me to come visit you?”
“Whatever! If you don’t want to just say that!”
The two left without leaving a penny on the counter.
They found themselves behind the shop underneath the awning, barely covered from the thick droplets of rain surrounding them. The two enjoyed their snacks as they spoke about nothing.
Noelle rested her head on her girlfriend’s shoulder and sighed. This moment of bliss was interrupted by a chuckling Susie.
“What’s so funny?” Noelle asked out of genuine curiosity.
The taller monster paused in a cold sweat and looked away before answering.
“It’s just that, and please don’t hate me, but. Your…. antlers. They poke me every time you do that- anditscute! It’s fine it’s just, y’know! Funny.” She shrugged, giving her girlfriend a small grin and putting her hands out in a defensive position.
Noelle quickly raised her head and gasped- it’s not like she could help their growth! They fall out every few months and she looked ridiculous with just the one should they choose to fall off at different times. This isn’t fair. Why would she even say that?!
“Well it sounds like you’re just going to have to get used to it!” She shrugged and shook her head exasperatedly. “I can’t believe you’re making fun of me. That’s not very nice, Susie.” She crossed her arms and pretended to huff and pout.
“Wha- I just said it was cute! What do you want me to say, that’s it’s bad and never do it again?” She asked, crossing her arms. The two pretended to be mad for just a moment longer before Susie gave up first. “What are you even doing, come back,” she said as she uncrossed her arms.
Noelle looked at the other monster’s shoulder for a moment before pondering.
“Hmm… I dunno.” She squinted her eyes in a playful way, “Will you let me hold onto your arm? As a peace treaty?” A smile crept up to her lips as she looked into Susie’s eyes.
A small blush came upon the purple monster as she extended her arm slightly as an offer. “Just come here already.”
Noelle happily obliged, taking hold of her bicep and resting her head on her shoulder again, closing her eyes and enjoying the moment.
The rain had passed just enough to notice a faint rainbow forming over the horizon.

Had this thought yesterday but. What if I made a 12 days of selfshipmas prompt list with winter themed prompts for you to talk about your selfship(s) with? (Ex: favorite winter activity, and you can write/draw/make a mood board for it)
Would this be of interest to anyone?

“mutual, i’m sure.”
“nicest christmas present anybody ever had.”
“i thought before the train ride we’d grab a bite to eat and have a few laughs?”
“believe me, it’s for your own good.”
“let’s face it, name, you’re a lonely, miserable man. and you’re unhappy, too.”
“you look at me with those great big cow eyes of yours and i’d melt and go along with it.”
“you’re off your nut about a mile and a half!”
“sure, it was my idea, but i didn’t think i was creating frankenstein!”
“i never thought i’d hear you open up like that, name.”
“let’s just say we’re doin’ it for a pal in the army.”
“it’s not good, but it’s a reason.”

“he always was a good-looking kid.”
“let’s say it with music, huh?”
“now, promise me you won’t say anything important til i get back, huh?”
“everybody’s got an angle.”

“vermont should be beautiful this time of year. all that snow.”
“it’s no trouble, honey.”
“we like to take care of our friends.”
“are you kiddin’? pay off a chiseling rat like that?”
“don’t stop for anything.”
“i got a feelin’ i’m not gonna like this.” / “i got a feelin’ you’re gonna hate it.”
“either you have tickets or you haven’t tickets.”
“oh, no, you wouldn’t do this to me.”
“used to be a grist mill and a barn, now it’s a tyrolean haunted house.”
“i don’t know what he’s up to but he’s got that rogers and hammerstein look again.”
“how much is wow?” / “right in between ouch and poing.”
“tell me what you wanna dream about and i’ll know what to give you.”
“it’s kinda dangerous, puttin’ those knights up on white horses. likely to slip off.”
“you ever hook up with the fellas in the horseshoe game?”
“read it, son. slowly.”
“you always were a lucky stiff.”
“never kid a kidder, son.”
“i think it’s impossible, ridiculous, and insane. i wish i thought of it first.”
“stick your nose in other people’s business and eventually you’ll find out things you wish you hadn’t.”
“i’d rather not discuss last night, thank you very much.”
“last night she can’t sleep. today she won’t eat. she’s in love.”
“if that’s love, somebody goofed.”
“well you’re not exactly superman, but you’re awfully available.”
“i’m more the ‘i don’t mind shoving my best friend into it but i’m scared stiff every time i get close to it myself’-ing kind.”
“i feel the same way about my cocker spaniel.”
“don't you think we oughta kiss or something?”
“you realize you’re getting the best girl in the whole wide world?”
“after you get to know him, he’s almost endurable.”
“you know, in some ways, you’re far superior to my cocker spaniel.”
“you don’t have to feel responsible for me anymore.”
“i can’t help feeling this is a tactical error.”
“if i said anything, i didn’t mean it.”
“i was so busy with other things i must’ve sounded like an idiot.”
“how could you be stupid enough to try and pull a stunt like this?”
“you should consider yourself pretty lucky. you could’ve been stuck with this weirdsmobile for life.”
“when it comes to conniving and finagling, you can’t beat this boy.”
“if i wasn’t such a mean ol’ biddy i’d break right down and cry.”
“i never saw anything look so wonderful in my whole life.”
“we may get snowed in here!”

unwind holiday week day 1: snow day ❄️
risa ward, hayden upchurch, connor lassiter (hayconrisa)
~600 words
a little cabin fever never hurt an AWOL
Risa never liked winter.
When she was in Ohio State Home 23, the cold air was always a reminder of how much she had to fend for herself. The only gifts she and other StaHo kids ever got were scratchy sweaters that felt like wearing dishcloths, and gifts from each other, hand-made, hand-spoken.
Then, she was kicking AWOL, and it was a miracle she didn't die from the unforgiving frigid chill of Ohio’s winters. Frostbite never did anything more than chip away at her fingernails, but bordering on hypothermic every day had done irreparable damage to her nervous system.
She got sick easier, she got sick harder. Forget staying warm and cozy inside a cabin with the fire burning bright and flickering across the wood—Risa stayed inside because she didn't want to catch a winter cold and have it turn much worse.
When she and Connor had their six months of isolation in Marseille, she evaded the cold and basked in the 54 degree winter days. They both found out very quickly that that lifestyle hadn't been sustainable, because they had been missing one very important person.
“You good, Risa?”
She blinked, tearing her attention away from the window. Hayden padded to the couch, sidling up to her on the couch, two mugs of a hot something in his hands.
“Yeah,” she said, relieving the tension in Hayden's furrowed brow. “Just thinking. I guess I'm doing a lot of that these days.”
Hayden hummed and handed her the mug. It was hot chocolate. Of course it was hot chocolate. There was even a snowman shaped marshmallow bobbing in the cocoa, the smile on its face slowly melting off.
“Thanks.”
Hayden abandoned his mug down on their coffee table to let the heat dissipate, and wrapped an arm around her shoulder. “Cabin fever, huh?”
Risa snorted. “Tell me about it.”
“Oh, I have. You're going to get sick of my voice before you get sick of being cooped up here.”
Risa took a sip of her cocoa, and it burnt the roof of her mouth. “I’d never.” She set her mug down next to Hayden’s, leaning into his shoulder. “You’re the one thing that has made this winter actually tolerable for me.”
“Awww. I'm touched.”
Risa shook her head, looking at him. “I mean it, Hayden.”
His smirk dropped a little, turning into one that was more genuine, heartfelt. He always smiled that way when Risa caught him off-guard by being completely unfeigned. Never saccharine—that wasn't her style. But she knew that admitting to him that she wouldn't have her life any other way, her life with him in it, dug so deep into his resolve that he was never quite sure how to handle it.
So he smiled a kind of sheepish smile instead and kissed her forehead. “I can only take half the credit—Connor keeps us in line.”
Connor joined them a little while later, with his own mug of cocoa and a half-melted marshmallow, and they watched the snow pile up around their tiny cabin. Completely detached from the rest of the world—but somehow, for the first time in years, Risa didn't feel that same loneliness that always seemed to creep in when the frost did.
Connor and Hayden were not the entire reason why her outlook had started to change. It helped, though, that they had been there for the past few years. It helped that Hayden kept her distracted and Connor held her during the long nights.
It seemed like winter was something she could start looking forward to. There was snow falling all around her, and for once, it wasn't suffocating.

Jack Frost hates the Leprechaun like Bunny hates the Groundhog and none of the other guardians get why. To them, he's a charming enough fellow who brings rainbows and the possibility of gold.
Every year, no matter where he goes or what he does, the Leprechaun will run up and pinch Jack before disappearing as if he wasn't even there leaving only a welt behind to mark his appearance. Jacks tried going to the most abandoned parts of Antarctica, encasing himself in ice, disguising himself amongst a crowd, flying as high as possible, but nothing stops the Leprechaun. The first time he appeared, Jack was happy, maybe he'd be a new friend? But after countless pinch attacks all he feels for the little man is animosity.
Jack just never wears green, but by now even if he did, the Leprechaun would probably still try to pinch him because he's been the most difficult and fun prey in the past. Tooth is mostly green and gets a pass. Santa always has some green because of his holiday. Bunny had his green coat and now has green gems on his clothes and green on the eggs he wears. Sandy is so far from being born a creature of earth/Ireland the Leprechaun would not be able to see him if he tried, but also Sandy enjoys celebrating all the holidays so every year he makes himself a sand shamrock to wear, it may not be green but it would be close enough to count if his space heritage didn't already protect him.
Based on the superstition that you must wear green on St Patrick's Day or you'll get pinched by a leprechaun (friends and family) but if you wear green you'll be invisible to the Leprechaun and thus safe from pinching. Where I live people also say if you have no Irish ancestry then you don't have to wear green to be safe from the pinches
