#Happy ending again
Note
Your OC is planning their wedding. Their phone is ringing off the hook and emails keep flooding their inbox. So many people are giving their opinion about what they should and shouldn't do. -Can they rely on their partner for help and guidance? Do they provide the clarity your OC seeks?
Leaving this vague.
If you choose to, you can pair Taiga with whoever you please ;P )))
Thank you~!
---
X
It was an ungodly hour o'clock in the morning.
And Taiga hadn't slept for almost 3 days by this point.
She knew deep down that it wasn't healthy...
But she'd rest after everything was taken care of, and replying to all these people...
Right after she-
Taiga stopped in her tracks.
She forgot what she was thinking of once again and was getting even more frustrated.
This was probably the 20th time in a row and she was going in circles.
She was overwhelmed.
Her laptop notifications weren't even making noises, but seeing them constantly popping up, along with her phone's seemingly non-stop ringing, she quickly shut her phone off on instinct, before throwing it onto the floor.
Thankfully it is carpeted.
However, as Taiga put her head in her hands, she truly couldn't care less about that right now.
But just sitting here doing nothing made her even more anxious.
She had to-
No, needed to get this all taken care of.
Everything had been going so well these past years...
It was up to her.
This was a life changing, irreplaceable event that couldn't be replicated, right...?
The pressure grew.
Taiga was so consumed by her thoughts that she didn't even realize it when her partner returned.
They were automatically worried once they saw the state Taiga was in, and quickly stepped in to say something.
But they were soft as they spoke, knowing how easily she could get startled at times, even if she sometimes didn't show it.
"...Hey..."
Taiga startled a little; snapping out of her thoughts for a second. But relaxed at seeing who was now here.
"Oh, _____..."
Taiga sniffled and had tears in her eyes as she tried to compose herself.
She knew that she didn't have to hide her emotions or true self from her partner; they could see through that anyway.
But it was still part of her instincts to try and be "strong."
She turned in her little computer chair and look at her partner directly.
They had been hard at work in their own ways to help with the wedding and everything else. But once again, Taiga became absorbed into it all and got too in her head; over-thinking it, stressing out, and pushing herself to the point of breaking down.
This couldn't continue.
"...Y-You're back."
Taiga's partner wasted no time kneeling down to give her one of their irreplaceable warm, loving, gentle hugs.
They didn't say another word yet, but just wanted to comfort their beautiful fiancée.
But she was more than just some label to them. Or some "problem" to fix.
Even before the pair had gotten together, _____ saw Taiga for who she was, inside and out.
Taiga has a beautiful, caring soul. An incredible mind. A marvelous sense of humor you could find after getting to know her more. Her secret wild side. What each color hers eyes would change to meant. How she'd twitch her ears and swish her tail in certain ways when her guard was down and freely express her emotions without fear, or shame.
From the way her cute nose scrunched up when she shyly laughed, whether she tried to hide it or not, to the way she'd tend to daintily lean on and lead with her feet first.
Every little detail, along with the new things that they tended to find out as their relationship continued to grow...
They could go on and on about each part of their soon-to-be wife and how they thought the world, no, the entire ever-growing universe about them...
Nothing could change those facts.
_____ came to find that they would truly love them eternally.
Even if Taiga said no back then, that would have stayed the same.
How could they not fall for her in some way?
It didn't make sense to _____ to even try and picture otherwise.
Some superficial individuals may judge, some may even try and break their bond, but to _____ it was simply impossible.
They didn't need anyone's acceptance, or approval regardless.
And no matter how many times they had to help pick her up during the more difficult times, no matter where life took them...
They would try to be there as much as possible.
Taiga couldn't hold it back anymore once she felt the familiar, protecting embrace and whimpered as she let out her tears.
She hugged them back tight and shook.
As _____ continued to hug Taiga, they slowly rocked her for a while, before they noticed her computer behind them falling asleep.
All of Taiga's work on there looked like it was already saved anyway, so they calmly but swiftly put it to sleep; making sure she wouldn't have even more to worry about later, before gently picking Taiga up, moving to sit down in the chair themselves instead, and just holding her in their lap as she hiccuped and sobbed.
_____ never once looked down on her for being like this.
Once Taiga settled a bit more, they reached over a little to grab a tissue from the box on her desk and held it up for her to blow her nose.
Taiga appreciated the help before taking the tissue in her own hand, getting her nose clean even more.
_____ lightly rubbed her back before starting to speak.
"You've done so well. You always do. And I'm proud of you. But you don't have to work yourself to death. We're a team. Like always. It will be our day to celebrate this connection even more than we already do, and no one can take that away from us.
I know it will be more
amazing and magical than I can express, no matter what we choose!
Either way, we should enjoy ourselves...
Not want to rip out our hair over it, right?"
_____ continued in a genuine and loving tone, tilting up Taiga's chin some to look more into her eyes.
"I'll keep helping you out as well, of course...
You've always got me in your corner.
And if anyone has anything negative to say about it, they can come speak to us directly.
...But let's take a break and do something to relax for a while if you want, alright?
I promise it will all work out, and we'll have a fantastic day; together, and with the people who sincerely care about us.
But no matter what, I'll cherish that I'm with you overall, and each day will be special.
I don't need to have the power of divination to realize that.
However, I know you struggle with all of this, and I definitely understand how easy it can be to become so stressed, on top of other things.
Not just because of the wedding.
And it's ok, but you really don't have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders."
_____ grinned a little, trying to help cheer up Taiga more as they playfully pinched her cheek.
They knew it was alright for her to go through and express her emotions, but _____ didn't want Taiga to be depressed, or worse. Especially if they could do something to change that.
It was successful as she giggled lightly, closing the eye near their hand.
As she was cradled, Taiga felt much more safe and able to think more clearly...
That seemed to happen each time, to be honest.
The two kindred spirits ended up laughing together, before Taiga leaned closer to gently nuzzle their chin.
_____ really could turn things around for the better, even in the bleakest of times.
We had been through and supported each other so much already.
We always seem to know what the other needs.
As she looked up into their eyes and relaxed in their arms, Taiga reminded herself to try and take it all step by step, and that everything really would be just fine. She believed her partner. And they helped her to believe more in herself as well time and time again, as they always reminded her of what's true.
Especially as long as they were together, nothing felt unachievable.
She never thought that she'd be able to find such a passionate form of love.
But _____ continuously reminded her she was worth it all.
And she believed it too.
Taiga and _____ knew she wasn't some damsel in distress, or needed her hand held.
And vice versa.
Nothing like that.
It was a mutual respect, and they just cared for the other greatly; wanting to see each other grow and thrive as their best selves.
Boundaries were long since communicated, and they tried to continuously be open, and honest with each other.
They never overstepped.
Never pushed.
Never belittled.
Understood each other, and that was all they needed.
They were best friends.
Knew each other maybe more than they knew themselves.
Soul mates in each way.
Possibly in almost every universe?
Who knew.
All they knew was that...
They had the happiness they deserved.
It was intense, new, everything they wanted in this harsh existence that they didn't have before.
They both just wanted to treat each other right overall...
And neither party would ever take any of it for granted.
"Thank you... I... I'd actually love that right now. Please."
From her crying before, Taiga's voice cracked slightly as she spoke.
She let out a sigh afterwards; just now realizing how tense she really was.
But she tried not to beat herself up about how she'd been acting.
Thankfully, she never took it out on anyone.
Her friends have been super supportive and helpful too, as always, throughout all this, and Taiga was so grateful, to say the least...
Yet some others the pair knew could be quite overbearing, even if they meant well.
_____ was better at shutting it down quick.
Taiga tried her best not to just default to rolling over and taking it, but sometimes it just felt easier. Especially with so many things going on lately.
_____ would encourage them as usual (bless their kind and patient heart), and she really did see more improvements with her assertiveness over time, thanks to hard work, and _____'s succor.
Taiga already knew they would forever defend her if needed.
And she preferred to not be rude to others especially, but...
Maybe she could try again and officially put her foot down later?
Taiga had to remind herself that it wasn't a bad thing to speak up and address her needs.
She had more safety, love, and freedom than ever before in her life, to be able to do it with less apprehension.
As one should, now.
She understood, tensions could get high during these types of situations, but _____ and her still deserved respect.
It hadn't gotten out of hand, to her relief, but if it did...
The thought alone quickly made her extremely uncomfortable. She couldn't stand conflict.
Although, if her loved ones were ever targeted, she'd be a lot quicker at jumping right to action.
Taiga did try to be brave and do her best in general.
Even on her own, she could remind herself more often, not just what others have said to her, but what she was striving for as well.
Yet she still tended to revert back to old habits.
Taiga knew the concept of being perfect wasn't realistic; everyone made mistakes.
But she ended up unintentionally holding herself up to such high standards once again, no matter how much she drilled that into her head time and time again.
It's usually how a person grew and evolved in the first place; especially when able to learn from their lessons...
But before she went down another road of doubts and guilt, it all quieted down in her brain as _____ recognized the far away look that she got and gave her a soft kiss on the forehead.
And as Taiga's tears were wiped away once she looked up fully, she beamed before they shared a loving kiss on the lips this time, and went off to snuggle up together while they watched cartoons; taking turns with their respective favorites.
Between them, it didn't even need to be stated a lot.
It was clear.
They loved each other.
Unconditionally.
And there were no fears that they were both making any kind of a mistake...
For them, getting married just felt... Right.
But...
That was enough wedding talk for now.
They both deserved some pampering, and would certainly give it to each other whenever the opportunity arose.
Without a doubt.

The fact that not only Gerry is here but he sounds *happy*, and is living with his grandma Gertrude, drinking tea and eating fresh sourdough rolls and being an artist like he wanted to. The fact that he got to live a normal life, or maybe not but he got the time to heal. The fact that he's joking, and extraverted, and just alive

Part 2
Part 1
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Eddie stands and follows Steve to the door as he’s pulling on his shoes. He wants to stop him, pull the shoe out of his hand and drag Steve back to the couch, but he doesn’t have any right. He’s not entirely sure Steve won’t push him away if he tries to touch him right now, anyways.
“You think I’m straight and I was convinced you were into me,” Steve leans against the door frame to pull his other shoe on. He mutters under his breath, “I should’ve never listened to Robin an-”
“Robin was in on this?” He interrupts that thought. It throws Eddie. They’re such a tight knit group, he doesn’t know how they were so far off track with him.
“We spent hours going through every stupid interaction we had. Thought we had it all figured out.” He huffs and walks back over to the coffee table to pick up his wallet and keys. “I guess we’re both idiots.”
“No, Steve,” he tries to reach out and grab Steve’s arm, but he moves too quickly and Eddie’s left grasping air, “you’re not.”
“It’s fine, I’m used to it, anyways.” Steve scrambles to pull his sweater back on, the cold just starting to seep into the night air outside.
“Can you just slow down for a second?” Eddie stops trying to catch Steve and plants himself in front of the door. “What do you mean, you’re used to it?”
“Are you going to trap me here?”
“Answer the question.”
“This part, Eddie,” he sighs and gestures between them like that means anything to Eddie. “Everyone I’ve ever confessed to or made a move on has had the same reaction.” He looks off to the side, unable to look Eddie in the eye. “I’m pretty sure I’m the problem. Good ole Steve Harrington, too stupid to notice no one is interested in him.”
“Steve, you’re not stupid.”
“Feels like it most of the time.” He pinches his nose again, still not looking at Eddie, more like through him, gaze pinned to somewhere in the middle of Eddie’s chest. “Can you please move? We can pretend like this never happened and I promise I won’t make any weird moves on you ever again. I’m still friends with Nancy and Robin after everything, I can do it with you, too.”
Eddie skips over the whole Robin part of that in his head because he doesn’t have the brain power to analyze anything beyond Steve’s feelings for him. He never saw this coming. No one, boy or girl or anything in between, has ever made a move on Eddie before. He’s the local freak. There’s no way he could have predicted the town’s golden boy hero would make the moves on him.
He takes in how disheveled Steve’s become in the last few minutes. How hastily he’s thrown on his sweater. The mess of Steve’s hair from the hand that’s run through it several times since he got up from the couch. Barely laced up shoes so he could get out the door faster. He’s normally so put together and this, the sight of him so frazzled, frightens Eddie.
They were fast friends after everything happened with Vecna, leaning on each other for support. Becoming inseparable with King Steve wasn’t something Eddie ever imagined, but it was so easy. Neither of them were what each other had built up in their heads from the rumor mill around Hawkins. Eddie’s never had a guy friend as close as Steve. Sure, he had Hellfire and Corroded Coffin, but Eddie’s always been a bit of a loner.
It was impossible to feel alone with Steve as a friend. He had a way of knowing when you needed support, always just there when Eddie felt alone or needed a physical presence when the weight of the upside down was dragging him down. There wasn’t a day in the past six months that Eddie didn’t see Steve, even if it was only in passing or a quick little jaunt down to Family Video, he’s a constant presence in Eddie’s life.
To lose that? Would be like losing a part of himself. Like losing a limb. Losing his home.
And he’s scared. He doesn’t want to let Steve walk out that door, the weight of losing him forever lingering in the air. But he can’t trap him here. That wouldn’t be fair to Steve.
He moves out of the way, taking a step towards Steve, but he sidesteps Eddie and reaches for the door.
“Steve-”
“Don’t worry about me, Eddie,” he doesn’t turn around, but hesitates halfway out the door. “I’ll be fine.”
With the soft click of the door closing, he’s gone.
And that should be the end of it. Closed book. Eddie doesn’t like Steve and Steve needs to move on. There’s not much Eddie can do about that.
But it haunts him.
If you didn’t know Steve, you wouldn’t realize that anything was wrong. He’s acting normal, smile on his face when he jokes with Robin, complaining about the kids being terrors, going to his job.
But there’s something in the set of his shoulders, in the way his smile droops when he thinks no one’s paying attention to him, in the way Robin protectively hovers around him when Eddie is nearby. It’s clearly a facade he’s putting on to get by.
And Eddie aches. There’s a pit in his stomach that opened up that day and it hasn’t closed. Steve avoids his touch and the chasm grows larger, dragging Eddie further into the darkness. Casual hangouts halted. No more divulging of nightmares or fears late at night. A piece of Eddie is with Steve and he’s bereft of comfort. Unsettled.
He lies awake replaying that kiss over and over in his head. Thinking about what Steve said after. There’s no comfort in the way he handled the situation. It feels like he miscalculated, like pushing Steve away was the wrong move and now his life will never be the same again.
Maybe it won’t. Maybe there’s no way for them to move forward and for him to not break Steve’s heart every day. Steve said he was an idiot, but Eddie’s positive he’s got it all backwards. Eddie’s the idiot.
And he can’t stop thinking about kissing Steve.

every new prequel that describes the horrors of the games that so many endured and lost their lives over it just makes katniss and peeta’s happy ending so much more meaningful like what they went through was awful but the fact that they made it out together and that haymitch finally managed not to save one but two tributes that he gets to see grow and make a family and bond after all the they have been through is just really special to me
