Currently, Hazbin Hotel is Amazon Prime's most popular animated show, yet this isn't good enough for fans, who are more focused on the people criticizing or making fun of it.

These fans will always be unsatisfied because the fact that not everyone blindly praises or likes Hazbin Hotel will always bother them since they want everyone to love the show through rose-tinted glasses like they do.

Welp, Chai, I rewatched the entire Hazbin Hotel pilot on the night of the 18th. It's been well over a year since I even watched it. Now onto my thoughts...

The Good 😊

The Animation: I know a lot of us complained about Viv's style of animation. But compared to the current HH animation style, it's a lot more pleasing in my eyes. I especially love the smear frames in the pilot (often referred to as "cursed images") as they really make the animation very dynamic.

The Voice Acting: I still absolutely adored the voice acting in the Hazbin Hotel pilot. Jill, Monica, Michael, Edward, Mick, etc. really brought their A-Game and really brought these characters to life. Frankly, I should've been way more upset when they were replaced back in December 2021.

Inside of Every Demon is a Rainbow: Man, I have forgotten how much of a banger this song is. I don't know how to describe the genre/genres of this song, but I view it as a strange yet effective mixture of a piano ballad, pop rock, and speed metal. I actually headbanged pretty hard during the song, something I can't say about the new Hazbin songs.

Vaggie: Still love that little grey moth sinner with an unfortunate name. I view her as the most rational (if not the only rational) character in HH. I still enjoy the scene where she explains to Angel Dust the legend of Alastor, very reminiscent of a Hey Arnold urban legend scene.

The One Scene between Angel Dust and Alastor: I don't know why, but the scene where Angel Dust offers a dick sucking to Alastor and then Alastor bluntly rejected him still makes me chuckle to this day. That's probably the only sex related joke I laughed at in my recent rewatch.

The Bad 😡

Seeing Red: This is a complaint nearly all of us had with the pilot: Too... much... RED! I don't know why didn't bother me years ago, yet it bothers me now. Granted, compared to the current series, the pilot has a little more variety of colors, even though it's still red dominated.

The Humor: Unfortunately, aside from the Angel/Alastor exchange, a lot of the jokes in HH fell flat with me during my recent rewatch. It just makes me wonder how I thought HH was funny back then. Maybe Viv's rose-tinted fog really clouded my judgement.

Vaggie's Treatment: One thing I still dislike about the pilot, even back when I was a fan, was how Vaggie was treated. Despite being the most/only rational character, Vaggie was treated quite poorly. From being ignored by Charlie, to being insulted by Angel, to being slapped in the ass by Alastor. *sigh* Why do cartoons have to torture characters with a hint of rationality?!

Too Many Characters, Not Enough Time: Not sure if this is nitpicky or not, but I feel the pilot "introduced" far too many characters in a 30-minute video. Yeah, I put quotes around "introduced" as many of them got only a few seconds of screen-time or were only there in portraits. Even "main" characters like Husk and Niffty got the short end of the stick in terms of screen-time. It also took me long to realize that Viv really favors her male characters over her female ones. Female led show, my ass!

The Ugly 🤢

The Wasted Potential: This is the only ugly thing, but the wasted potential of HH is so ugly that the Ugly Barnacle would die. Under Viv's rose-tinted fog, I foolishly grew emotionally attached and had high hopes for this show. Unfortunately, thanks to Vivienne Medrano's micro zepto-management, she pissed all the great potential away. *sigh* It could've been great... 😔

Well, that was a load-off. Now I feel like I've made some closure. 😇

Thank you for reminding me just how Gerald Urban Tale-esque Vaggie's Alastor exposition was...between that and the constant little sound effects, the whole thing felt like a Nicktoon, and I know that's part of what I loved about it.

Dude, here I am wondering why Val has a miniature Fizzy-looking (and Fizzy-sounding) thing... ...Until I remembered that Mammon in Helluva Boss was/is selling sex toys using Fizzarolli's image a couple floors down - at least before the latter quit. That included sex dolls.

Also, being in the Pride Ring and all, I like to imagine that Val acquired the Fizzy-Doll mainly because he fancies himself as the "Asmodeous of the Pride Ring", given his occupation and all. He's just... an inferior version of the "sex-god" when you mix pride and greed into it. So you know how abuser were often abused before? I headcannon, like many people do, (might be cannon I honestly don't know) that Valentino was abused while he was alive and then when he went to hell became the abuser.

He also has garbage eyesight, which is likely because he's a moth. But he also wears glasses, literal rose tinted glasses. What if his rose tinted glasses actually make his vision worse. Maybe he keeps wearing them because he doesn't realize it's hurting him and thinks it's helping.

I hope we get more info about the vees in season 2

Nice to find another person who’s a “secret third thing” about Hazbin. I’m making a cosplay for it atm but I feel like I have to carry an essay around explaining my complicated feelings.

Hello follow “secret third thing”. There are more of us than you realise! I hope your cosplay goes well! ^^ And I heavily relate to your last statement. I can't just say “I like or dislike some parts of the show” or “I have a love-hate relationship with the show”, my entire being transcends both of these mere words and I can't just summarize my entire thoughts onto a single sentence. If I did, it'd be a 20k words essay/document that took 10 years to make or it's incoherent keyboard smashing or meowing or barking or mooing (hyperbolic). It doesn't help that I'm (kind of) a veteran of this show and I was there when the pilot first released and I remember immediately loving it and defending it from (valid and inauthentic) criticisms. You know the usual “they're in hell, of course it's red/full of bad people who make haha sex funny jokes and swears!” or “people who hate it are homophobes!”

So immediately from the start, I had this connection with this project (doesn't help that I was a fan of Viv's animations in the first place) and it took me a long time to actually see the bad™️, I had rose-tinted glasses on. It was only as time went on as Hazbin Hotel (kinda) faded into obscurity and was overshadowed by Helluva, I just lost interest. I guess, I forgot about it. After some time, I decided to watch a Helluva vid and immediately I hear that owl guy moaning in the phone begging for cock and I was “???”. I stopped watching after that. Which is funny because when I first watched the pilot, I thought the sexual jokes were funny, but when watching Helluva, it threw me off. I guess it's personal growth.

After that, I forgot about the whole Helluvaverse/Vivsverse again and went on to other fandoms and also the fact that I have a life outside the internet. When I first heard that Hazbin Hotel is going to be on Amazon Prime, I was... “meh”? Like I lost all the same love or spark I had with Hazbin. That I didn't even care anymore, well, I did care a little, in a “I don't like it the same way anymore and I don't think I'd enjoy this but I miss it.” way. And after that, I forgot about it again.

It's only recently I discovered that Season 1 has been released and that I saw a Hazbin Hotel critical post. And just like that, I got sucked into the vortex again and now I'm obsessed again. Like old me who really loved this shit possessed me except they got fused with the current me who is very critical about this show.

The New Helluva Boss Episode Opinions

The new Episode of Helluva Boss just came out and I’ve seen a lot of people like it, and some people didn’t. I want to quickly talk about how these people have been reacting towards one another and give my opinion on the matter.

There has been a lot of controversy in recent months towards Vivzie and her crew that I think has been influencing how people saw the new episode. There have been people who were mad at Vivzie, and started kicking her down when she was in a rough spot and in a vulnerable position. There have also been people who supported Vivzie during the entire thing, believing she can do no wrong.

I’m not giving my side on the legal matter, but after the recent episode of Helluva boss, there were people who were disappointed with it and thought it was a bad episode. Others have jumped in to shut down these statements, calling them “haters” and saying they were just people who didn’t like Vivzie and her shows.

What I’m a little alarmed by is that there were some people who LOVE Helluva boss but didn’t like the recent episode at all, and those people were still being called haters and were still disregarded in their opinion. I’m not saying a good number out there aren’t really just Vivziepop haters, but peoples genuine criticisms have been shut down by some fans in very aggressive ways, those people who don’t think that Vivzie and her crew could ever make anything bad.

I’ve seen many fans give criticism and opinions about the episode that I’ve come to realise and agree with, but sadly, those opinions are completely disregarded by some close minded fans. And by the way, I am talking about CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. I do not support people who don’t like things about a show without any reason to it.

I’m not hating on Vivzie and her crew. I’m just disappointed that fans cannot give criticism anymore because some people have put on rose tinted glasses and refuse to consider anything else. It’s a shame because Vivzie and het team LISTEN TO THEIR FANS. Whenever fans have constructive criticism about their show, Viv would change and improve on the show and make it better then before. For example, when the pilot of Hazbin Hotel came out, there have been a lot of criticism about its color palette being mostly red, and so, in Helluva boss, Vivzie changed it so the colour palette had more variety and that improved on the show exponentially.

I think fans with good constructive criticism should be considered by other fans, and be able to see Helluva boss as a show that still has flaws that can be fixed, and make the show better. Don’t be scared to consider other peoples opinion, instead of brushing it off as nothing important, and don’t be scared to show your criticism if you know that it can help make the show better. We shouldn’t waste the opportunity to help Vivzie make the best possible show she can make, and not to brush every decision under the rug, good or bad.

Please do not take this as an excuse to hate on Vivzie and call her a “bad writer”. As a fan of her work myself, I can still see parts that could use improvement in her work, and that means I could give those opinions because I want the best for the show. And don’t take this as opportunity to shut down anyone defending her work. Those people might not have the same criticisms as you, and it’s always good to see it from multiple perspectives.

Oh hello again anon! (Yes I know this is probably a different anon but shhh)

Rosie has been involved in rosecest’s relationship since day one, originally helping alastor figure out what he’s feeling / giving him advice on how to court his beloved little boy. Percy did know of Rosie before their death (alastor mentioned her in passing) but they only officially met after Percy arrived in hell. As for how she became Percy’s mother figure, Alastor originally didn’t even plan on it happening but after seeing how well they got along decided to talk to Rosie about the prospect and she agreed. Rosie even takes care of Percy whenever alastor is too busy (like with the hotel for example)

I see HUNDREDS of art pieces daily. What a remarkable and beautiful thing. There are gorgeous dynamic art of the teenage mutant ninja turtles on some guy in the bookstore’s t shirt, at the park there are sketches of ducks in the trashcan that kind of suck because the artist is trying to learn how to draw ducks (they are practicing), there are children’s drawings on the wall at ihop, there’s a beautiful landscape painting hanging in the lobby at the dentists, in the bathroom where I work there is a painting of a fluffy cow with various chickens and flowers on him, and the amount of art I’ve seen today of Hazbin hotel characters alone on tumblr is A LOT.

The world is so full of art and beauty, shapes and colors! So when you think of it that way, my life is actually pretty good. Forget the suicide disease, forget the hysteria, I will continue to live because there will be art again tomorrow. And by god, my lenses with be rose tinted with stained glass. It’s part of my accommodations.

hi chai! I have to thank you for opening my eyes surrounding Vivzie! Back, I was a mere lurker of her YouTube content, way before she posted Hazbin Hotel. However HH is what turned me to lurker to a huge fan.

And because of you, become a huge fan to a critic. I realised many problems around her when the rose-tinted glasses wore off, I'm upset, but truth doesn't always taste sweet.
