Can we talk about Steve saying 'Please don't make me do this' to Bucky in catws? Cause I'm losing my mind about it.

Steve doesn't back down from a fight. He doesn't shy from them - yes he'll try more peaceful options first, but if he comes to a fight he won't back down. He is always ready to fight for what is right. He certainly never begs not to have to fight. The one time we hear him outright begging, is when he is faced with fighting Bucky.

The amount of gun wrenching emotion Chris put into that line haunts me. He sounded on the verge of tears. He had to know it wasn't going to work. He was going to have to fight. But he didn't want to. He would and did, but you could see how much it was killing him to so.

Another thing we never see him do is give up in the middle of a fight. But after he'd finished what he had to do, he did. He outright said he wasn't going to keep fighting anymore. Because he was in pain and exhausted and Bucky didn't know him and he was just so done. He did it for Bucky. No one else.

I'm so normal about this.

I mean we can definitely talk about this if you don't mind that I SOB THE WHOLE TIME 😭😭 This is seriously one of the most painful bits for me personally, my heart always shatters into a million pieces when I see him say that. Steven Grant Rogers has never ever backed down from a fight if it was the only option, but this time... this time he really, really doesn't want to do this.

He would do anything, would literally beg no to have to fight the person he loves most in all the world, the person he wants to protect and keep safe and take care of... It's causing him actual agony, and literally he only reason he is still doing it is because he knew countless lives were at stake - basically the only reason why he wouldn't have just said fuck this and refused to fight imo.

Look at him 😭 It was killing him to have to do this, you're absolutely right. And he knew it was useless, but he had to try. And he didn't say "Please don't do this" but "Please don't make me do this", which is so much more vulnerable and heart-wrenching... And you're so right about him giving up once he completed his task, because he just didn't see the point of living in a world where Bucky wasn't Bucky anymore and didn't know him and 😭😭😭
