okay, so… here it is: a larger post of most of the treasure planet merch i’ve received but haven’t shared here. this stuff gets more and more niche/rare the further you scroll, so check it all out! let’s start from the top:
first up— we’ve got my complete collection of all the loungefly products. each one has jim on it so it was a must <3 personally the first release (middle) is my favorite but i think the pink backpack is prettier
Tumblr media
second up— my 20th anniversary pin as well as my cursed concepts pin. such lovely grabs <3 then we have the pin i bought off the artist Dean Grayson from his “Heroic Rides” series on etsy. it’s fricken huge!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
third— probably one of my favorites, my hallmark treasure planet cups. i got these off ebay and i have absolutely no idea what year they’re from. aren’t they so cool?! i got so many and they’re brand new. the print of jim on the cup is just top tier. “honey, we’ve got guests. bring out the fine china!” 10/10.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
number four— my jim & silver keychain toys. these are olddd! if you know me though, you know i don’t keep stuff in the packages. silver could stay, but jim definitely had to come out. he zooms forward like a toy car when you pull him back and then let him go!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
item number five— treasure planet for the playstation 2. i’m especially fond of this one considering the ps2 was my first ever gaming console that i owned myself. so many fun memories!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
number six— my japanese art promo book featuring some of the japanese voice casting! as an anime fan, collecting japanese promotional material for american media is something that i’ve always wanted to do. i haven’t gotten my hands on a japanese movie poster yet, but it’s on my list for sure. this is a pretty close runner up though! i love all the pngs used for this booklet! (sorry for my weird hand placement in some of these, as the pages folded out and it was hard to photograph with one hand)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
number seven— last one for now! i think i saved the best for last personally, but this is my disney adventures collector’s edition magazine for treasure planet back from 2002, the movie’s release year. let me tell you, this thing is such a throwback from the events of the year to the ads that come in the thing.
…AND THERE’S A WHOLE CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE COMIC IN HERE?! i had no idea! it was like striking gold! this is also one of my favorites of all the things i own. can we get a load of how cute he looks on the cover? he almost looks like he’s aware he’s posing for a magazine cover. so adorable!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
…wow, that’s all from me for now! while it’s definitely not all i own, this is just some of the newer stuff i’ve gotten since i’ve been away and/or some of the stuff i think is cooler. did you recognize any of this stuff? find anything new? lemme know!

FMA Cafe
While I was in Japan, the FMA cafe opened up :D I've never been to an anime cafe before, so this was perfect! I went once a week (so 3 times in total) so I could try a bunch of different dishes and collect coasters lol
I tried to put this under cut because it's long and full of pics, but adding the read more ruined the formatting of the pics so I'll leave it.
The first trip was March 22, kind by accident LOL. I was in the area to see Shinjuku Gyoen and the cafe was on our walk back to Shinjuku stn. The lobby was empty, so I gathered my very out of practice JP skills and asked if it was possible to get a seat as a walk-in. They said yes :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Word hadn't gotten around yet it seems, so it was very empty upstairs too LOL. Great for pics :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's a ¥1,000 sitting fee and you get a drink with that. There's a QR code given to you for the menu (it matches to your table number so your orders are tracked). Menu was a bit clunky, probably because my JP reading skills are in the toilet, but I figured it out! They played the same 10 minute video the entire time (for the FMA mobile game).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because I showed up late I only bought one thing to eat (last order for food was 18:00 and I didn't really sit down and get things figured out until 17:45-ish), and it was Lust's chocolate cake. It was very good (and very heavy lol). I got the Edward Elric drink first and the Roy Mustang drink second. Both came with mystery coasters. Ed's drink was better imo.
At the end the couple of us on the 2nd floor snuck up to the 3rd for pics before leaving.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I went back the day before I left for Osaka :D (27th)
Word had gotten around by now about the cafe and merch shop and it was busy this time! I popped in at 12:15 and asked if they had any seats available. No, they're full. He offered to book me in for 14:30 though! So I putzed around Shinjuku for 2 hours and went back :D
It was packed this time!! On both floors.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Winry's pie was alright. Heavier than I was expecting. Ed's fries were fun! They came with a white paper bag that you transfer the fries into, and you add whatever mix of spices you want from the spice cups it came with, then shake in the bag. Neat! Also tasty.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Drinks were Olivier's, Bradley's (with matching coaster!) and Ed's drink again (I should have gotten Roy's again dammit, I tried to take his glove hand home from the first time, but it got wet, the ink bled, and it ironically fell apart...)
Olivier's was the neatest looking drink, but also my least favourite. Bradley's was my favourite drink - very good!
I went back on April 4 before I went home ;A;. This time I made a reservation. I asked for a seat on the 3rd floor, since my first 2 had been on the 2nd, but I think seating is actually based on how early you get in line. I got in line early and noticed everyone in front of me also got 3rd floor, so I think they just fill the 3rd before dealing with the 2nd.
ANYWAYS
Tumblr media
Great seat. A+. My spot had 2 table numbers and I asked if it was okay and they just were like "yeah yeah it's fine no worries". Okay!
By this point they must have been besieged with tourists. Poor woman hosting the floor couldn't speak English to save her life (and half my floor was tourists). She got to me and tried to suffer through a few English words and I stopped her. I'm fine with the instructions in Japanese :') please don't suffer more on my account.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bradley's drink again, Ed's Milk Hater drink, and the classic FMA drink BECAUSE I CONTINUE TO FORGET ALL ABOUT ROY...
Ed's milk drink though... you pour the milk into the mug filled with soda(??) and ice. It tasted like a float without the cola?? It was unique... the most interesting drink to try for sure (Bradley's still my favourite).
I bought the mug at the gift shop :')
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
LET'S TALK ABOUT THIS AL PUDDING. This was amazing and fun. There is a little cake, there is a little ice cream, there is a little pudding, there's a little idk what it was but it was chocolate and good, and there are cat themed cookies under the pudding cup LMAO. Then there's the blood seal inside the tin. A+ Al wins. That was so much fun, I'm sad I left that until last, I probably would have gotten it again.
You could have totally sold me on this mug too if it had been for sale.
Tumblr media
Look, I did remember Roy sorta :') I got his doughnut. It was HEAVY and the icing was so thick on top it was rock hard. Sticky, messy finger food.
So that's it :D I've run out of picture space lol. I wish I'd gotten to taste test things in the second round later in April (ARMSTRONG'S HASHED BEEF ;____;) but I hope they enjoy all the money I gave them while I was there LOL. I had some neat food and had fun doing it :)

Hey hey adoring battleship move incoming, so how about: 16 for that Spotify prompt? Hope life (the move? There was talk about a move I think?) Is treating you well!
can you tell I’ve been posing / this way alone for hours / waiting for your affection / waiting for you
Steve had still been feeling pretty stupid until maybe five or ten minutes ago. He’s not sure exactly what happened, but something had shifted right around the time he’d realized it was too late to get everything untied and put away before Eddie was due back. Even if he changes his mind right now, he won’t have enough time to hide the evidence. There’s no backing out of this anymore.
It’s not his usual kind of thing. None of this is. He doesn’t do any of this, normally.
But someone had donated a bag of VHS tapes to the library, and Steve got assigned to go through them, and there had been one—
It hadn’t looked that difficult, and he’d told himself he was just curious. He’s always been good with his hands, so how tough could some knots be?
Pretty tough, as it turns out, but manageable. He works through the basic ties pretty quickly, and he’s still flexible enough to do a lot of it himself, even though the video is very clearly meant for someone to do on someone else.
The idea is…not unappealing. As he works through securing his ankles in a messy double-column tie, it’s easy to start thinking about what it might be like to loop the rope around someone’s wrists and pull it snug. Yeah, he could see why people might like that kind of thing. It takes a lot of trust, right? There’s no way to laugh it off, when someone hands you that kind of control. It’d be exactly like saying I can take it, I want to take it. Whatever you want to give me.
And that’s when he gets the idea.
It takes a little more preparation and a shopping trip, because he can already tell that the random stuff he’s been using to try different knots isn’t going to be comfortable enough for what he’s planning. Plus, he likes the idea of getting something that’ll look good on his skin. Something that makes people want to touch.
By this point, he’s stopped pretending that this is anything other than what it is: a hail-mary, last-ditch attempt to get Eddie Munson’s hands on him again.
He doesn’t try for anything too advanced, just the easiest harness on the tape and a frog tie holding his legs into a kneeling position. He practices the whole thing all together a couple times and it seems to go okay. He wastes some rope early on when he fucks up a knot so bad he has to shuffle all the way to the kitchen and grab some scissors to cut it, but it’s fine, he’d bought enough silky blue rope to tie a dozen harnesses at once. It had been way too expensive for freaking rope, but it had looked so much better than the hemp that he’d handed over the cash without a second thought.
He doesn’t try cuffs or a collar. It’s not—the cuffs feel okay, actually; the rope is soft and snug, and he can glance down any time and see how good the blue looks looped around his wrists. But he struggles to get them tied evenly when he’s one-handed, and he doesn’t want it to look sloppy.
Eddie likes effort. It’s a weird thing to notice about a friend, even a friend you might’ve hooked up with a couple times. It’s pretty obvious, though; Steve watched him run a game for the kids once, and promptly decided never to watch again.
Eddie throws all of himself into the game, all the time. It’s so much work. Steve’s seen the pages and pages of notes he keeps in his ragged binders, the way he commits to acting out all the different characters even when he sounds objectively dumb, how he gets so caught up in the moment that he’ll climb up on the goddamn table. Eddie never holds back.
He demands a lot from his players, too. They can fail. But even in that one game that Steve watched, it was obvious that Eddie doesn’t want them to fail; he just wants them to win while struggling against the toughest possible challenge. He wants to find their limits, and then push just a little to find their real limits.
Nothing’s happened with Eddie since before Steve saw that stupid game, but now it’s all mixed up in his head. He keeps thinking about how Eddie had crowded close, hands hovering and light, darting in and then away again; he keeps thinking about what it would be like to hear Eddie’s voice sound the way it does when he’s telling his players off, firm and deep, as he put his hands wherever he wanted on Steve.
So that’s what Steve’s been thinking about lately.
And it’s why he’s here on Eddie’s bed, frog-tied and wearing a rope harness that he wishes he’d done a little fancier, because he thinks Eddie would appreciate that. Every time he’s tried a fancier harness it’s gone wrong or looked weird, though, so this will have to do. He hopes it’s enough.
He’s not worried about it, exactly, because all of that stuff seems far away and smoothed over right now. He can remember worrying about a bunch of stuff, like whether he should be wearing clothes or not. He’d settled on just underwear because it had seemed a little too vulnerable to go without, but now that he’s all settled and feeling pretty good, he thinks that was a dumb thing to worry about.
Despite the weird way Eddie’s been avoiding him lately, Eddie had really seemed to like his dick at least twice before, so even if it’s not anything more for Eddie—even if dick is the only thing Eddie wants from Steve—he should get to have it. Eddie should get whatever he wants.
Steve shuts his eyes. He fills his lungs all the way, feeling the harness grip him a little tighter, and he exhales slowly.
He waits for the door to open.
Send me a number between 1-100 and I'll write a ficlet based on the corresponding song from my Spotify Wrapped! It will definitely be gay and may possibly be musical theater

She bought him a card.
While perusing the aisle of a local pharmacy, mikoto has come across the store’s shelf of greeting cards. Cards for birthdays, cards that offered encouragements to “Get Well,” “Thinking of You” cards, and of course, Father’s Day Cards. Curious, she had picked-out a couple. Father’s Day was this Sunday. Mikoto made a mental note to call her dad that day and also… she bought a card, one that had a picture of some American National Park on the front. It looked natural and it reminded her of Logan.
When Mikoto returned to the mansion, she wrote on the inside of the card: “Logan. Thanks for looking after me, Mikoto,” In Japanese. Then stuffed the card in its envelope, addressed it to Logan, and left it on her desk. Within four hours of buying and writing her card, Mikoto chickened out of giving it to him. (It was too much, he wouldn’t appreciate it, she was just a student). It remained on her desk for the rest of the week and all through Sunday. She called her dad that morning, had a nice fifteen minute conversation with him, and then, admittedly, the rest of the day was like any other Sunday. A symptom of living on the other side of the planet from her parents.
Then again, every Father’s Day had been like this since Mikoto was a child. Her change in location had effectively changed nothing.
But that evening, after dinner and playing some card games in the common room, Mikoto returned upstairs. The light was on in her room and she only had a second to process that as odd, before she turned into the doorway and saw Logan standing at her desk. In his hand, the envelope open on the desk, was the card she had bought.
Mikoto’s breath caught in her throat, her cheeks flushing. He had obviously already read the card but Mikoto couldn’t read the look on his face. What should she say? What does she even do in this situation? She couldn’t even think of a joke to crack the tension or play off the card.
“I wasn’t going to give it to you!” Mikoto blurted-out. And before she could stop herself the words tumbled out, “I bought it but then I thought it would be weird since, we’re not — you’re not my — and you probably don’t want to be… not that I need you to but, anyway, it’s not that I don’t, but now that you’ve found it, I guess. You should just ignore it. Sorry.”
Her eyes fixated at the floor, just in front of her feet. Mikoto wound a strand of hair around her fingers, tugging lightly on her scalp. Finally, she sighed.
“Can we please forget this ever happened?”
Logan knows what day it is. Of course he does. He just didn't think he had any reason to care. It wasn't a big enough deal for Charles to postpone training or classes, which suited Logan just fine. When it came to combat and survival, rust formed fast. Only way to keep it off was to keep active. ... But maybe he'd be a bit more lenient today if they were a minute or two late.
"Sorry, Mr. Logan, had to call my Dad!" or "Couldn't get the old man off the phone, you know how it is." greeted him every time the footsteps fell a bit faster. (No, he didn't know how it was, but he didn't say that. Only grunted and told them to fall in.) A part of him couldn't help but twinge with jealousy. The part that still remembered Itsu's soft hand in his when she told him they were finally having a baby. (The bright dark horrible red steaming against the stark white snow as he saw that future stolen forever.) But that was an old wound, and, like all his injuries, it healed enough that he could stay standing. Crying didn't bring anyone back. Besides, the kids were happy, and he wasn't about to ruin that for them - not today.
Aside from those minor interruptions, it had been pretty normal. Some of the kids had surprised Charles with a few little trinkets which he had accepted gladly. Dinner had been a bit fancier - that had been nice. Sure, the food here was always good, but he wasn't one to turn down fancier eats when offered. The kids had gone off to their evening classes, and he'd managed to score the Danger Room for a few hours of private training. After that, it was time for the most important nightly ritual of all: A glass of good whisky and a nice cigar. Both were kept in his room, secure and hidden from anyone who might want to share (labelling your shit only went so far in this place). He was leaning on his balcony, arms loosely crossed, tumbler dangling from his fingertips and cigar hanging from his teeth, when he noticed something weird. He could hear the muffled chatter of the kids in their classrooms. Birds chirping, check. Wind blowing, check. Crickets chirping, check. But overtop of the rustling of critters in the underbrush and Storm in the greenhouse upstairs was another noise - metallic sound effects and a repetitive, simple song. The first time it played, he ignored it. The third, he growled. The fifth, he jammed the cigar into his ash tray, threw back the rest of his whisky, and went to shut it off before he lost his damn mind.
"Christ, Skippy, what're you doing in here?" He pushed the cracked-open door the rest of the way, brow furrowed in annoyance. "Ain't you s'posed to be in class any-...?" He trailed off. The room was empty. Nobody was here. The overheads were off, the only light coming from the monitor. 'PAUSE MENU' flashed on top of the screen in bright letters. Logan sighed and shook his head. Of course. Well, time to look for the mute button. He bent over the desk and reached for the mouse when something else caught his eye. An envelope.
An envelope with his name on it.
Logan cocked his head and furrowed his brow. What was this? Some kinda ransom note? He plucked it off the desk and straightened. That was her writing, sure, and he didn't notice any weird smells here, but that didn't necessarily mean anything. There were plenty of people who could make that happen - Mesmero, for example, or Mastermind, assuming she didn't decide to run off on her--
Own.
...
Oh.
He blinks at the card in his hand, waiting for his thoughts to catch up to his eyes. It's a card. It's a Father's Day card. It's a Father's Day card for him. What? ... What? He opens it carefully, half expecting it to explode or crumble to dust or be made out to someone else and put in the wrong envelope, or who knows what else, but no, that's his name in there, too.
He's too busy reading and re-reading the message to notice the footsteps. He does hear the sharp intake of breath and his head snaps to track the sound. He stares at her. She stares at him. She turns bright red and he glances down at the card again. And she starts talking. And talking, and talking, and talking. She did that when she was nervous. Opened her mouth and didn't seem to know how to close it. He folds the card closed again with one hand, and when she looks like she's not about to light him up like a Christmas tree, he closes the gap between them. A strong arm circles around her shoulders and pulls her close, holding her against his chest.
Tumblr media
"Thanks, Skippy." He says, resting his chin on her head and giving her a squeeze. "Means a lot."
More than he could ever put into words.
Happy Father's Day, indeed.

DIABOLIK LOVERS MORE, MORE BLOOD Vol.13 Kino [Track 2]
Tumblr media
Original title: 寒冷
Source: Diabolik Lovers More, More Blood Vol. 13 Kino [CD not owned by me]
Audio: Here (15:28 ~ 29:54)
Seiyuu: Tomoaki Maeno
Translator’s note: I was already kind of curious about the contents of this track from reading the title, but as soon as the MC returned from the cafeteria with a popsicle, I already knew what was going to happen. I can really imagine the struggles of having a boyfriend like Kino who loves pulling pranks on you. Although compared to some of the other stuff the boys have done to her, being teased with a popsicle isn’t even all that bad. Seeing him try and make it up to her afterwards made for a cute moment as well.

Track 2: Coldness
“ーー And then I ended up arguing with Yuuri over who is correct. What do you think? Which one of us was right?”
You hesitate.
“Seems like you’re having trouble answering my question. Don’t hold back and just tell me. In return, I’ll punish you if you don’t say it was me.”
You frown.
“You’re struggling that much? Guess I have no other choice. I’ll give you some time. Try and come up with an answer by the end of classes today.”
The two of you come to a halt.
“...So, is this the classroom we had to move to? (1)”
You explain.
“The science lab, huh? It’s really such a pain that science classes take place in a different classroom. Oh well, guess it’s fine. Hurry up and open the door.”
*Rattle*
“...Hm? What’s wrong? You’re not going inside?”
You close the door again.
“...Eh? Why did you close the door again? Don’t we have class here?”
You tell him it’s the wrong room.
“Haah!? Who goes to the wrong classroom!? Unlike me, you’ve been going to this school for quite some time, right?”
You apologize.
“Honestly...I don’t know whether you’re just slow-witted or if you actually have a few screws loose...”
You seem confused.
“Eh? What’s weird?”
You tell him there seem to be more doors than usual.
“What are you saying? You’re just imagining things, no? There’s no way the number of doors would suddenly increase. Doesn’t it just feel that way? It’s no good to try and blame your own mistakes on someone or something else. Also, that barely makes for a decent excuse.”
You insist.
*Dingー Dongー ・ Dingー Dongー*
“Ah-aaah...Right, right. There’s more doors than usual, huh? Anyway, the bell of the next period just rang. We won’t make it in time for our class so what should we do?”
You frown.
“Well, if we’re confirmed late, might as well say ‘screw it’, right?
You tilt your head to the side.
“You know, let’s just skip class.”
You protest.
“If we go now, we’ll just get scolded for being late, right? So why not? ...Come on, this way! Let’s go!”
Kino drags you along.
*TIMESKIP*
“Fufufu~ I’m almost done with this quest...”
*Tap tap*
“Ahー But before that, I have to use this item.”
*Tap tap*
“Hm? What do you want? I’m busy playing my game right now.”
You seem anxious to get in trouble for skipping.
“You’re still worried about that? We already skipped class, so there’s nothing we can do about it now.”
*Tap tap*
“Isn’t spending time out on the rooftop during class something you have to do at least once while you’re young? We’re here now anyway, so you should try and have some fun as well.”
You frown.
“No buts! ...Ah, I get it.  You end up having unnecessary worries because you’re bored, no? In that case, I’ll give you something to do.”
You tilt your head to the side.
“There’s a cafeteria on campus where you can purchase food and such, right? Go buy me something there.”
You ask him what to get.
“Hmー Let’s see...What to choose? ...Then, how about you get something you think I’d like?”
You want him to be a little more specific.
“What would that be? The whole point is that you figure it out.”
You whine.
“It’s not difficult, is it? If you’ve been keeping a close eye on me, it should be a piece of cake! ...Pick the thing that would make me the most happy! Alsoーー”
*Rustle*
“You better not keep me waiting, so I expect you back here in ten minutes, okay? If you’re even one second late...You’ll get a pentalty.”
You flinch.
“Come on. Hurry up.”
You run away.
*TIMESKIP*
*Creaaak*
“Ah! You’re finally back...!”
You ask if you made it back in time.
“Haah? What are you saying? You didnt even come close to making it back on time. Just how far did you have to go for those?”
You explain.
“You got lost? You’ve been a student at this academy for a while, haven’t you? That doesn’t make any sense. Stop making those lousy excuses.”
You try and defend yourself.
“Hmm~? So you got the location of the cafeteria wrong? I guess you went down the wrong stairs or something? Oh well, whatever. More importantly, hurry up and hand it over. You obviously got one of my favorites, right?”
*Rustle rustle*
“...Eh? That?”
You nod.
“Ice cream...? Haah...”
You frown, asking him if he doesn’t like ice cream
“It’s not that ice cream’s bad or anything but...Why didn’t you get me guava juice? You know that I like it, don’t you?”
You tell him that wasn’t an option.
“Haah!? They don’t sell it here!? They really should reconsider their line-up then. But that doesn’t matter, does it? Not only did you make me wait forever, and on top of that, you weren’t able to buy something which would make me happy. Fufu~”
*Rustle*
“This calls...for a punishment.”
You protest.
“No point in fighting back. ...Come here.”
Kino pulls you close.
“Gotcha. When I’m holding you tightly from behind like this, you can no longer get away, can you? That being said, this ice cream has been well chilled. I’m sure it would feel extremely cold if I were to press it against your skin. For example...Against the back of your nape.”
*Rustle*
You flinch.
“You’re already reacting that strongly from just slightly brushing it across? I wonder what would happen if I were to slip it inside your clothes then? Aren’t you curious?”
You shake your head.
“Oh come on~ No need to be modest. Come on...”
*Rustle*
He presses the ice cream against your bare skin as you shriek.
“...Ahaha! Did you hear yourself just now? Well, I guess it would feel cold and disgusting to have an entire popsicle slide down your back. Ah-aah...Your uniform’s a mess as well.”
You call him out for bullying you.
“I’m not being mean, am I? It’s a punishment after all. Besides, that scream just now wasn’t half bad, you know? I’d love to hear it one more time.”
You tell him the ice cream has already melted.
“Guess so. You didn’t buy more than one popsicle after all. ...But you know, I have this.”
*Cling*
“If we use the hourglass to reload, the ice cream and your uniform will return to their original state. You should be grateful.
*Tick tock - Tick tock - Tick tock - Tick tock*
ーーー
*Creaaak*
“Ah! You’re finally back...! ...Hehe, you gave the exact same reaction as earlier. Why are you looking around in confusion? I told you I would reload, didn’t I? Time got turned back. You remember what happened earlier, don’t you?”
Kino approaches you.
“Exactly. Seems like you properly recall. I pulled you close like this...”
*Rustle*
“...And played with you using this popsicle you bought, didn’t I?”
*Rustle rustle*
“Say...There’s something I’m curious about. I can test it out, right? You already know just how cold this ice cream is. The chilled sensation from having it directly pressed up against your skin. So I was wondering...How will your body react if I repeat the same action one more time, now that you’re already well aware of how it’ll feel?”
You try and get away.
*Rustle rustle*
“...Woah there! You better don’t think I’ll let you get away!”
He grabs hold of your wrist.
“...There. Gotcha.”
*Rustle rustle*
“No point in resisting. There’s just no way you could get away from me after all.”
Kino opens the popsicle.
“There we go~ It’s time for the ice cream you’ve just been dying for~ If I run it across your nape like this...”
You flinch.
“Exactly. You can feel it even stronger when you already know what to expect, don’t you? I wonder if it’s your brain playing tricks on you...?”
*Rustle*
“...Hm? What? Throwing in the towel already? Guess I have no other choice. In that case, I’ll warm you up next.”
*Sluuuurp*
“Hm...The taste of this popsicle is pretty mediocre. I don’t think I could finish the whole thing. The person who bought it should take responsibility and eat it all instead. Here you go.”
He forces the popsicle inside your mouth.
“You’re whining was starting to annoying me, so this works perfectly. Keep it in between your teeth for a bit, okay? Meanwhile I’ll dig into this to cleanse my palate. In the end, it seems like I...”
*Rustle*
“...enjoy this the very best. mmh...”
Kino bites you.
*Gulp gulp gulp*
“Nn...You like this too, don’t you? The whimpers slipping through...They’re different compared to when I teased you earlier. They’re sweet yet sorrowful. Almost as if you’re begging for me.”
*Rustle*
“Let me hear more of those...”
*Rustle*
“...Ah!”
You drop the popsicle.
*Splatter*
“Ah-aah...The popsicle fell down. Your skirt’s a mess now as well.”
You apologize.
“Why are you saying sorry? Ahー Because you dropped it? I don’t care, really. ー Wait, what’s with that face? You’re in tears. Your lips are all sticky from the ice cream as well. I’ll wipe you clean, so look this way.”
You turn around.
*Rustle rustle*
“Perhaps I took my teasings a little too far? ...Were you scared?”
You nod.
“I see. ...Fufu. You’re such a crybaby, how cute~”
*Smooch*
“There, all clean. Now cheer up, okay? You don’t want things to become awkward between us, do you? I guess that leaves your skirt...Honestly, it’s kind of a drag, so would you like me to turn back time to before you dropped the popsicle?”
You ask him if it’s okay.
“Of course I don’t mind. ...But in return, I might mess with you again~”
You protest.
“I’m just kidding. Let’s kill some time together until classes end? Ah! But don’t get the wrong idea, okay? I’ll still use the hourglass. ...Well then, how should we enjoy ourselves next~?”

Brothers Conflict (Passion Pink) Part 1 - Asahina Masaomi Route
Tumblr media
I am happy to announce that I will try my best to play Brothers Conflict in Japanese! Yes, it was Christmas so I splurged and bought Diabolik Lovers, Brothers Conflict and Norn9 hahahah. Hopefully I can do this! Apparently Brothers Conflict is an easy read because it's slice of life and uses normal everyday words so let's go! Ema and her squirrel Juli huh? That's kinda cute lmao. Anyway, I know the basic premise but it's kinda crazy to have like 11 new brothers, like wow. And her squirrel talks?! I guess it's nice to have a such a reliable squirrel "parent" for Ema since it seems so capable haha. I don't blame Ema for being so nervous though haha. Oh wow, Miwa (the lady Ema's father is remarrying) is rich and nice! Hahahaha, Ema thinks Masaomi is Wataru's dad, is he that old looking?🤣 Anyway, I know it's a game so Ema has to be surprised to know all these hot guys etc are her new brothers but if this was real life and I was nervous about meeting all these brothers by myself, I would definitely hope to have seen or have a photo of them with me lmao. Anyway, lmao at Wataru giving Ema candy for accidentally hurting her when he couldn't stop his bike in time lolll, who is the little kid here?!🤣 Awww, I don't like fan clubs but I do like Iori! He seems cool and kinda knows how to handle his fangirls. Ukyo mightttt be my type, we'll see🤣 Anyway, Ema is such a considerate daughter for not wanting to intrude on her father's newlywed life and deciding to live in the Sunrise Residence with all the other brothers, I would be so scared to live with a bunch of new random siblings lol.
Tumblr media
Is a sunflower badge a symbol to show you're a lawyer or something? That's pretty cool! Anyway, Masaomi is the eldest son?! I totally assumed Ukyo would have been the oldest haha! Guess looks are deceiving. Hahaha, Ukyo calling him "nii-san" (older brother) is a shockk🤣 I admit that Kaname's purple kimono looks pretty cool, but dang, kissing the back of Ema's hand and then saying can he kiss other places too?! That's a great way to introduce yourself... I'm so glad Ukyo hit him for doing that lol. Lmaooo I thought Kaname was going to be a fashion designer of some sort but he's actually a Buddhist priest?! Wow lol. Oooh I like Tsubaki and Azusa's looks! They're cute, are they twins? Okay yep, they are. I love them already🤣 Omggg and they're both voice actors? They're getting cooler by the second🤣 I love how friendly Tsubaki is lol. I love how just as Ukyo hits Kaname for getting out of hand, Azusa does the same for Tsubaki lol. Lmao at Ema thinking to herself whether Tsubaki is "okay" in the sense of whether there's anything wrong with him because of how he talks hahahaa. Awww Subaru seems cute, he's shy with girls even though he's a university student! OMG Tsubaki is older than Subaru? I can't tell these age differences lol!! I like Iori a lot though hahaha. Lmao I thought Iori recognised Ema's school uniform because he knew girls from there but it was actually because Yuusuke (another brother) goes there hahaha, sorry my bad Iori. Tsubaki is so slack to hide from Yuusuke that they were going to have a new sister lolll. But his reaction was funny so I can understand. I find it hilarious how Yuusuke can't handle Ema being sad over him not approving of this loll, so he had to just agree to make her happy haha. HAHAHA, when Kaname asked Ema to call him "onii-chan" LOL, like geez dude!! And then even Tsubaki joined in🤣 I like Azusa, so I'm glad there was an option to call him onii-chan loll. I think it was pretty funny how they got her to keep calling them onii-chan lmao, it was nice how she played along with them and got to enjoy having so many siblings considering that it must have been pretty lonely with just her dad and he's probably busy working a lot of the time.
Awww that's so sweet, Ema woke up early hoping to make breakfast for the brothers! She's such an awesome sister. I have to agree with Ema, Kaname exercising early in the morning is a surprise haha. I honestly thought Ukyo would be the one there...and he is! Ukyo is the one who cooks breakfast and all the meals I guess! Lmao at the cute rabbit apron he wears🤣 Ukyo best boyyy! Omg Rui is pretty, I love his hair. But I find it so funny how he's like touching her hair and Ema is like so calmly just introducing herself to him lmao. Oooh, so we have another idol brother, lmao at Ema thinking the family were fans instead of him being a brother, like what are the chances that they would all be fans of him🤣🤣 Aww Mahoko looks like a cute best friend for Ema. Sasakura (the soccer ace guy) seems pretty friendly to offer to help Ema move. I have to agree with Ema though, Masaomi in work mode is nice to watch, I always think it's so sweet to see guys so kind and patient with kids (even though I don't like kids🥲). It was so sweet how Ema so honestly told him she would have liked a doctor like him when she was a kid, Masaomi blushing at her praise was actually pretty cute lol. Awww, his pocket is full of chocolates and other stuff as rewards for the kids! It's nice that he has a whole variety of stuff like stickers and mini cars since he doesn't want to give them too many sweets. It must be so heavy though lmao.
Fuuto sleeping CG is pretty cute~ LOL did he just say Ema is cute but it seemed like she's dumb?! Well, there goes your idol dreams, Ema lol. Lmao when he said she didn't deny it and said she's an idiot, like woww, way to go Fuuto, you're definitely an ass. He's probably traumatised or annoyed with his fangirls or something. I can so relate to Ema's rage, I would want to strangle Fuuto loll. Okay, I did something wrong and didn't realise I needed to go to the aquarium with Masaomi! Lmao at Ema saying all the fish are cute lol. Blushing Masaomi is so adorable though. It was so cute how he got embarrassed for not realising that he was really close to her, and it was so cute how Ema tried to explain that she didn't hate it and that it just made her heart beat really fast😂 Aww Ema and Masaomi both like small animals. Damn, these guys are rich, do they have a villa on an island?!! I think it's really nice how they all take the time out to go on holiday with the whole family there every summer vacation though. Considering how many of them there are and how busy they are, it's good to see that they try to make the effort to bond with each other. They've even got a private beach on a part of the island, danggg. Anyway, I love how welcoming the brothers are. I agree with Iori, Ema is really admirable to even do supplementary classes to help with going to her dream university, she's working hard!
You know, considering that these guys are her "brothers", I find it funny that they're quite unreserved towards the idea of doing date-like stuff with her loll! Like with the amusement park, Masaomi held her hand to keep it warm after she got a bit freaked out with the haunted house attraction lol! I guess considering the game, I should just throw that all out of the window and just enjoy it for what it is haha. I mean, I gotta admit, it's pretty cute. I guess it's not that cute after I looked at their character profiles and realised that Masaomi is actually 31 and Ema is like 16-17? Oh well, I guess I'll ignore that too😂 Aww, Masaomi seems like such a parent, he's sad that his brothers are older now and they don't rely on him as much for stuff anymore. I guess that would be something good but also sad to see. It's interesting how the dialogue changes when you get more hearts. It's like initially, Masaomi used to be like, nah I'm not free into yeah I'm free, and now he's just like let's go lol. I think the nicest change is that he used to leave to go somewhere else after their outing, but now he goes home with her. I think something that's nice to see is Masaomi "spoiling" her, like he doesn't do anything over the top, just simple stuff like buying her a strap, holding her bags etc, but I feel like because she's always lived only with her father, and now that he has a new partner, she's even more reserved towards not wanting to trouble others, so I think Masaomi treating her sweetly is nice. I find it so sweet how he understands her so well that he knows that she would feel bad about it, so he asks her to buy snacks for everyone in exchange. I love how Ema made a whole bunch of sandwiches on their zoo date, I love little picnics~ And it's so cute how she offered to make him lunch next time since he's always so busy with work that most of the time he just buys rice balls and sandwiches from the convenience store.
Tumblr media
I'm so excited for their trip!! Lmao, I really want to see Ema's swimsuit now, considering how Subaru was so surprised by it, he told her to wear his jacket🤣 Aww playing with fireworks at the beach with Masaomi was nicee~ I think Masaomi really gives off that great big brother vibe that will ensure she'll never feel lonely, it's really heartwarming to see. Omggg there's the option to stay overnight in Masaomi's room now!! Not that anything happened (for now) since he just helped her study and she fell asleep there~ but it was really cute to know that Masaomi keeps all the letters he gets from his current and old patients, it's sweet that his room is "messy" because of it haha. Gotta love how Masaomi took his other futon to clean so now they have to share a futon lol, like how far away is Ema's room lolll! But anyway, it's fine I guess because it's cute~ It seems like from way back when he was a kid, Masaomi was already mature and stepped up to be the big brother that would help out his parents because they're so busy. I still wonder how he survives as a doctor if he nearly faints after seeing a little bit of blood lol, but yeah it's crazy how much of Masaomi's life revolves around his family. Even him choosing to be a doctor was because he wanted something stable, good income and have useful knowledge for taking care of his family if anything were to happen so that his parents wouldn't need to worry. He's such a good child. I found it so wonderful how Ema praised Masaomi for his work saying she could really see how much his patients really trust him and see how earnest he is with his work. Can't blame him for feeling so embarrassed hahahha. Okay, I'm dying at how sweet Masaomi's lines become. Now when you ask him on a date, he's like are you sure you want to spend your precious break day with me?! Hahaha, of course we do! And now when you ring his doorbell hoping to stay over, he looks forward to Ema being the one to ring it, I love it so much🥺 I find it so cute how he's more conscious of her staying over so late now hahaha. Omggg, he just asked if it was okay to share the same futon and Ema was like sure, awww that's so cuteee, they're practically together now lol. Omggg he confessed that he liked her when he thought she fell asleep! He even kissed her on the forehead! Awww!! I wonder how Ema will react now~
Tumblr media
Kaname really loves to flirt with Ema allll the time doesn't he lol. Subaru blushing at Ema having baked his birthday cake for him is so cuteeee. Anyway omg, does everyone actually already like her?? Even Iori said he was happy that it was because Ukyo was busy so she ended up having to bake the cake and not because she wanted to since the beginning😮 Anyway, it was so cute how Masaomi said he wanted to be the first to congratulate her when she turns 20 (since they just came back from Subaru's 20th birthday), and okay, it seems like Ema lives kinda far from the guys?? Lol, I thought it was a shared house kinda thing. Anyway, their accidental kiss seeming led up to Masaomi giving her another kiss?! I feel like my heart was beating fast like Ema's lmao. LMAO when Masaomi offered a kid to ride on his shoulders to see the dolphin show properly (he even called himself an big brother/onii-san) and the kid still calls him an uncle/oji-san hahahaha. HAHAHA, I love how Ema readied herself to have Masaomi check her with a stethoscope (she was sick) since it feels embarrassing and she raised her clothes so high, he saw her bra or something lmao. LOL, Usa-tan sounds like an amazing doll that can shoot out stationery, record, be a calculator etc, like dang lolll. Omggg that Ema had to wear bunny cosplay for the school festival cafe, lmao when Yusuke saw it and was embarrassed lol. Ohhh, there's another older brother called Natsume who moved out of the mansion! I've lost track of how many there are honestly but Natsume is pretty good-looking. I'm so glad Azusa made Natsume apologise to Ema properly for being so rude to her when he didn't know who she was and reacted badly to her calling his name so familiarly. WHAT, TRIPLETS? Them being triplets is definitely a shock to me like whaaaat omg. Once again, impressed that Miwa had so many children and looks so good. I seeee, so Tsubaki and Azusa are identical but Natsume is fraternal oooo. Anyway, I was so shocked that I forgot to say I didn't even think about a wedding ceremony so I'm glad there is one for her father and Miwa hahaha. LOL when Miwa gave Ema the bouquet and told her if she likes any of her sons, she would help them hold the ceremony, like dang, she's already decided that she wants her new "daughter" to be like a true daughter loll. Gotta love it when your parents are supportive of you marrying your step brothers lolll. Anyway, seriously though, I guess that makes it easier for them later on with no parental drama haha.
Tumblr media
It's so cute how Masaomi gives candy to Ema as a reward all the time hahaha. Well, Ema not being the real daughter of Rintaro was unexpected... I felt sorry for her when she found out and felt that she would be all alone if her dad told her the truth properly. I feel like Ema's always tried her best to be strong on her own because her dad was always busy, but he was family and she knew he would always be there because they're tied by such bonds so it was okay even if she was sad that she couldn't see him much, so I feel like her breaking down is understandable. I thought it was really sweet how Masaomi told her that he would always be by her side so she would never be alone, and that if she's still sad after talking to her dad, she can always go to him for help. It's sad that her parents died so early in her life, but I'm glad Rintaro decided to take care of her instead of leaving her all alone in some institution. It was also nice that Ema got to hear what she needed to hear, which was that even if they're not connected by blood, Ema is still his daughter, and I think it really helped her insecurities to hear her dad properly tell her that.
Tumblr media
Lmaooo when Ema thought Hikaru was Kaname's girlfriend😂 On the other hand, I'm not sure what to think about Tsubaki and Kaname being "moe" to little sisters lolll, but I guess at least they're quite frank and obvious about Ema totally being their type lolll. Anyway, I guess now we've seen all the brothers! I knewww Miwa was going to ask Masaomi to go to an omiai but danggg. Especially since he's the oldest brother so I guess it was to be expected in his route. Awww I love how Masaomi so honestly told the girl he had someone he liked. I legit can't wait until they both tell each other their feelings, I'm so excited!! Lmaooo, Masaomi in a Santa Claus costume looks so funny hahaha. Awww he bought Ema a Christmas present!! It's nice that Masaomi gave Ema her very own Usa-tan! Anyway, omggg Azusa and Tsubaki are sooo close, it's actually kinda cute how much they love each other haha. I loved how Ema properly thanked all the guys during the Christmas party for looking for her when she ran away after realising her dad wasn't blood related to her, and I loved how they told her it was natural since she's family. When he hugged her thanking her for always encouraging him and supporting him, it was so cuteee, I love how much Ema loves seeing the serious Masaomi that dedicates himself to saving people however he can.
Masaomi is usually so tired from work, but I love how he's always like Ema is always welcome to visit his room! I think it was especially cute when Ema was about to go back knowing that he didn't get much sleep and she woke him up, but he knew that she wouldn't randomly just come to annoy him for nothing, so thankfully he got her to not feel like she was bothering him and gave him the chocolate~ Masaomi blushing is always the cutest~ Lmaooo Ema is like a pro gamer😂 I found it so funny how Subaru and Ema just told Yusuke to pick up items because he's weak😂 Awww Masaomi was sad that Ema didn't react to the pink heart necklace he gave her through Usa-tan! To be fair he did do it in a really roundabout way so I guess it's understandable that she didn't notice it, but luckily she did lol, so now she doesn't need to misunderstand that he thinks of her as just a kid. Ohhh, I thought Masaomi was just jealous that Ema was having fun with Subaru and them, but it was actually because he thought that Ema would probably have more fun and be more happy with a guy around her age and that's why he was sad🥺 I'm so happy that they both told each other their worries and how much they enjoyed their time together. Ema definitely was more brave to say she wanted to always stay beside him though haha. Lmao at Masaomi having eaten so many sweets at that shop he bought the white day presents for Ema loll. Anyway, I didn't realise Fuuto was actually like 2 years younger than Ema, considering how arrogant he seemed, I thought he was around the same age lol. Anyway, I obviously rose the wrong stuff and didn't get the best ending LOL. I was so sad when Masaomi was like, you'll always be my sister or something and it ended, and I was like excuse meeee!? Anyway, I redid the whole thing LOL. I knew that Masaomi had to get over the blood thing if something happened to Wataru so I'm glad Ema was there to kinda wake him up to do that haha. I missed out Ema in a kimono CG!! She was so beautiful!! And omggg, their wedding and expecting a baby endings were nice~ Definitely worth me going through all that again just to see it lol.
Tumblr media
Overall, if you can ignore the fact that Masaomi is like 30 and Ema is 17, then this route was quite nice. Well, to be fair, the whole premise is a grey area so I guess the age gap shouldn't be a problem for most who decide to try this game haha. Anyway, I really liked Masaomi. He's like the oldest brother that's super caring about his family, but also a bit childish, maybe because he's kinda like Wataru's father lol. I thought Masaomi was the one who took care of most of the brothers but Masaomi got too busy with his job so that kinda fell on Ukyo instead, which I'm looking forward to in the future! But yeah, I really loved how kind, gentle and sweet Masaomi was all the time, and I really liked how much he had that nice older brother vibe that I super dig lol. You can say, he really soothed my heart LOL, like every time I spend some time going through the route, he always makes my heart warm and makes me smile because of how kind he is, and I just really loved that. I always love how he always takes interest in his patients' interests and does his best to understand them so he can better interact with these kids and make them have an easier time in the hospital. Anyway, I'm super proud of myself that I was able to finish this route in Japanese!! I probably didn't understand 100% of it, but I think I got most of it and I'm so happy about that! I probably spent wayyy too much time on the dictionary searching for kanji but I can definitely see the progress and I'm looking forward to finishing all the routes! It's still kinda crazy to me though, like I still remember once upon a time, I really wanted to play this game and honestly hoped for a localisation one day, but now I've given up and decided to just practise my Japanese with it instead lol. It's interesting how things have come to be, but I'm excited for the rest~

What are some foods from your childhood that you miss? Surprisingly a lot of my favorite childhood snacks are still around; but one that sadly got discontinued as soon as I first learned about it in first grade was a Japanese brand of chips called E-Aji. I was crazy for those, and I loved that they even came with dips.
Which app on your phone do you use the most? Either Facebook or Messenger.
Do you know of anyone who went into labor at the baby shower? No. I don’t even know anyone who’s held a baby shower.
When's the last time you did a hand game with someone? (ie: Mary Mack) I’m not sure. Maybe a year or two ago.
How old is your oldest living relative? I think my great-grandparent from my dad’s side is still alive; she’d have to be over 90 now.
What was the worst part about being a kid? Having to be stuck around kids who may not be raised as properly and may end up teasing, bullying, or being a general pain in the ass towards you – and still getting away with it because you’re both kids.
What's the best part about being an adult? The independence.
How many hours of sleep do you need in order to function successfully? Around 6 or 7. 5 is fine too I guess, but I might be cranky for a while.
What are two foods that are supposed to taste weird together, but you like? ...ugh, I’m blanking out at the moment.
What is your favorite kind of dip? I don’t have a preference; I like dips in general and am always open to trying new/unfamiliar flavors.
Do you know anyone who was not born in a hospital, unexpectedly? Nope. As far as I know everyone I know had been born in the hospital.
Does anyone you know have dual citizenship to live in multiple countries? Probably.
Do you still have a landline phone/phone number? Yeah, we keep it around for older relatives who don’t have cellphones.
Do you know anyone who lives in the Southern Hemisphere? Yeah we have a number of relatives who have settled in Australia and New Zealand.
What are some things from childhood that you still do today? Tinker around with anything that has buttons or knobs or anything I can toy with.
Name a fad that was popular when you were growing up, that you miss. I don’t miss any fads.
Have you ever gotten to milk a cow or a goat? Never yet.
Have you ever taken a gymnastics class before? I mean we were given a few gymnastics-related lessons in our PE classes, like we were taught the basics of walking on a beam, but I’ve never taken a full-on gymnastics class.
What's the worst part about being an adult? All the boring but required bills.
What was the best part about being a kid? The much shorter and simpler list of things to worry about.
--
Were you ever force-fed as a child? No.
What's the worst thing you could hear before going under anesthesia? Idk, probably someone realizing at the last second that they fucked up the dosage or whatever.
What's the last thing you rolled your eyes about? Clients and media messaging me on Viber and following up on various stuff despite my profile picture which clearly and loudly states I’M ON LEAVE.
Should kidneys or other organs be able to be bought and sold? That just doesn’t sound right to me. I know a lot of young people (me included, lol) make jokes about selling a kidney to get concert tickets or whatever, but at the end of the day I just don’t think this is something very sustainable. I’m alright with the option of having your organs donated at most.
When's the last time you had to refrain from telling someone I told you so? Cooper is having a bit of a diarrhea issue today and I just know it’s came from overeating c/o my mom. I’ve kept telling her to calm the fuck down when it comes to the servings and she never listened, so today she has had to deal with the dog vomiting and poop that’s on the soft side.
What's one of your favorite riddles? I’m not a big fan of riddles.
What is one of your most important rules when going on a date? I don’t really go on dates, but I imagine I’d be a bit conservative. No kissing or hand-holding or anything, especially if I don’t know them all that well yet.
Do you judge books by their covers? (actual books) Yes, sometimes.
What unethical experiment would have the biggest positive impact on society? I don’t understand how this would come to life if it were already unethical to begin with.
What did you find while snooping, that you really wish you hadn't? Ok this was definitely my fault, but during my heartbroken and hung up era (lol) I remember going through my ex’s account after we broke up just so I can see what she had been up to. I saw a tweet where she was talking about how happy she finally was, so...you can just imagine how that went down for me.
I entered into another spiral, but it was also one of those moments that flicked a switch inside of me, telling me to just move the fuck on. I did shortly after. It’s a memory I wouldn’t wish on anyone, but I’m also grateful for it to some extent.
What's something most people don't worry about but probably should? House fires. It’s something I’ve always been paranoid about.
Do you use movie quotes often? Almost never.
What are some of your favorite idioms/sayings? I don’t really find myself using a lot of idioms these days.
Will children today have better or worse lives than their parents, and why? I want to say better. It seems as though today’s generation of parents make smarter decisions, are more politically aware, are more welcoming in terms of differences in society, etc. and I believe all of those can make for good influences on kids.
When was the last time you had a new lease on life? Probably the start of 2021 when I started to proactively bring in good change for myself and my mental health and my life in general.
What's the craziest conversation you've overheard? As much as I enjoy getting gossip from my friends, I don’t actually eavesdrop myself lol. I mute people out when I’m in public.
What are some goals that humanity is not focused enough on achieving? Eliminating racial discrimination.
If you were capable of possessing people, what would you make them do? I don’t even want to start thinking about this.
What's the most ironic thing you've seen happen? Seeing people be crazy religious lunatics while still advocating for thieves and creeps in public office.
Which charitable cause is most deserving of money? I think it differs for everyone since we all have our own advocacies. Personally I’d keep donating to animal shelters or any animal-related NGO.
--
Do you live in the same hometown as where you were born? No, I haven’t lived in Manila in over 20 years. Fortunately.
Did you dorm at college or commute from home? I drove to and from home. My university wasn’t too far away that I needed to move into a dorm.
How long before you tell someone that enough is enough? Depends on the person. I give most people a chance or two; but for people I view more important/want to keep in life I’d pretty much act like a doormat for them.
Do you want to get married one day? Why or why not? It would be nice to, but it’s the kind of thing where I’d be fine whether I end up getting married or not. It’s definitely not a priority right now.
Do you file your own taxes or have an accountant do it? My company does it for me.
How often do you get your haircut? Just once a year. I’m not very hands-on when it comes to my hair.
Do you prefer the thin blue and white masks, or decorative ones? No preference; I just go with whatever stock we happen to have at home.
Have you ever witnessed someone have a seizure before? No.
Are you someone who puts a decent amount of emojis in their texts? Eh, not really. I barely use emojis with friends, but I would insert one or two when I’m texting someone for work purposes.
What was the last excuse you used when you didn't want to hang out? I don’t turn down offers to hang out.
Do you own more solid colored socks or patterned socks? Patterned.
What is something that still excites you as though you were 5 years old? Honestly? Fireworks.
Tennis, Ping-Pong, or Badminton? Table tennis!
Do you buy seasonal/limited edition treats for yourself? Just sometimes. I don’t have to have them.
Have you ever rode on the back of a shopping cart, or a Home Depot dolly? Yeah. It’s been a while since I did the groceries with my family but I would definitely still hop on the back of a shopping cart and zoom through the aisles at 23 hahaha.
Does everything you buy have to be organic? No. Things are different here and most of us can’t really afford to go that extra mile to make sure everything we get is organic or gluten-free or vegan or whatever. Those products aren’t the most accessible here to begin with.
Do you support more small businesses or chain restaurants/stores? I think I give an equal amount of support. Sometimes I’ll order a meal from small businesses on IG; other times I’ll, say, get a specific craving I can only get from a big chain.
Starbucks, Tim Horton's, or Dunkin' Donuts? Literally I love all of these.
Have you ever been crowned king or queen at a school dance? No.
Do you have conversations with your pets or do voices for them? Sure.

#11 It’s a Small World (You x yuta x taeyong)
Eleventh day of Christmas
It’s a Small World (You x Yuta x Taeyong)
warning : expect a plot twist okay? It’s quite interesting, hope this can be a real life story for someone 😂💖
Tumblr media
I do not own the pictures, but I own the stories :) hope you enjoy this
You’re glad to spend the Christmas and New Year with your family in Japan and now it’s time to go back to work. Your company has given you an extra two days holiday since you’ve been doing great for them. Your family send you off to the airport that morning and you’ve checked in your luggage and have some hours to stroll around the airport before departing home.
The Kansai airport in Osaka was not the biggest, but you sure can still stroll around the stores and pick up last chance Japanese snacks from the mini kiosk and after purchasing your favorite chocolate bars, you walk to the waiting room.
Before sitting down, your phone vibrates and you check to see a new message coming in.
“Safe flight (y/n)! I’ll pick you up in Incheon. Don’t forget my souvenirs. XOXO TY” the message read and you slap your head for forgetting the most important souvenir.
Quickly you scroll the chat room and look for the list of things he asked.
“Ramen done, skin care done, snacks also done,” you mumble as you read through all of the things he listed. “And shit I forgot the book.”
The nearest bookstore is a ten minute walk, the directory said, and you still have an hour. Without a second thought you make your way to the bookstore. You won’t risk going back to Seoul without that book. You basically promised him you will get him one if you’re in Japan.
You pray that the book store has the complete comic series, or you’ll need to find something for an exchange.
“Here I go,” you huff when you stand outside of the small store.
You directly go to the comic area and run your eyes through the Japanese characters, mumbling their titles as your heart beats faster and faster whenever you read another title.
“Here it is! Howl’s Moving Castle!” your happy squeal almost make you get kicked out from the store, as you extend your hand to take the last complete comic book you brush someone else’s hand.
“I grabbed it first,” was all that taller man said when he saw you opening your mouth.
You are speechless and you still keep your hand on the book “Excuse me,” you finally can speak up to him.
His Japanese is fluent, so he must be someone from here. You cannot recognize his face because of his shades and his long hair.
“What? I touched the book first, your hand comes after it. So this belongs to me.” The man said in his deep calm voice.
You shake your head “Can’t you just buy something else? I want to give this to someone.”
He shakes his head “Too bad, I also need this as a gift.”
You tighten your grip and try to pull the book “No, look you don’t understand. I might die if I did not get this.”
He smirks “Oh yeah? Someone’s a diehard Miyazaki fan. Cliché” he shrugs his shoulder.
In a glance he looks like Howl, considering the loose white tee he wore, the tight pants, the long blonde hair, you just wish you can see his eyes.
Maybe he is one of those guys who do cosplay and he always dresses up as Howl so he looks like this in daily basis. Your mind must have been crazy.
A cough interrupts the cold staring contest you two held. Without letting go off the 4 comic book set, the two of you shoot your heads to the sound.
“I am sure you do not want to make a chaos here. Please put down the book, you haven’t bought that yet.” The store owner points his finger to the book you and this man hold.
Flustered the two of you just mutter a polite “Sorry,” but without letting go off the book.
“I need this like seriously, please help me out this one time.” You plead but the tall man shakes his head, okay in your mind he is an asshole now.
“I also need this, four of them to be precise.” He sighs.
You roll your eyes “But I also need four of them. Since we both need to at least bring this book, let’s share it.” You hate this, you don’t like backing down but considering your time limit and your urgent need to bring this book home, maybe bringing back 2 is better than none.
The shop owner seems to agree with you, he offers you two to share and just look for the rest series later. He apologized for not having extra copies, because the book is a best seller.
The tall man finally gives up when his phone vibrates and his alarm rings.
“Fine. You’ll take two I take two. You take the even numbers, I take the odds.” He pays the book and after thanking the shop owner he walks to you. You give him the money and walk away, only to notice he is also walking the same way.
“What’s your name?” he asks suddenly when the two of you are walking back to the gates.
“(Y/n), you?” you feel sort of cranky with him, why can’t he be a gentleman and just let you have the book.
He hasn’t introduced you his name for there is a call for the passengers leaving for Seoul.
“Whoops, that is my plane. Nice to meet you (y/n),” he waves and disappears like that.
You shake your head and mutter a curse, when you realize you’re having the same flight with him.
Slowly you queue behind the long lines and after handing the ticket, you board to the plane.
Well you tried to forget the unfavourable encounter and just explain everything to Taeyong, while wishing he didn’t hate you.
“Seat 27 H” you smile and put up your things on the cabin above your head.
You notice someone is not sitting beside you, but since you’re in the window seat you nicely make your way into the chair. You buckle your seat belt, leave a message to tell your parents you’re on board already and send Taeyong a message too that you’re on schedule. You lean back while looking out of the window, taking in one last view of the Osaka vibes.
“Good bye home,” you whisper
“I guess that window seat is mine,” a finger taps your shoulder.
“What?” you turn around to face the same man from the bookstore, “You again?!”
“Oh we meet again,” he pretends to sound surprised in his same deep voice you’re trying to forget.
He smirks and takes off his shades, “Nakamoto Yuta.” He offers a hand and to be polite you take his hand, but something didn’t feel right.
“It is my seat,” you scrunch your eyebrow.
He grins, “Well yeah by the ticket it was yours, but I always like to take the window seat. Besides I put something there already,” he shows you the book he bought is inside the pocket infront of you.
You roll your eyes, “That doesn’t mean this is yours. I paid to get the window seat.” You lied.
He acts surprised, ”Really? You’re lying. Now I usually ask them kindly to switch place with me-“
He cannot finish his sentence because you cut him “No. Sit on the aisle or find another chair Yuta.”
He smirks and shrugs his shoulder, “I thought people always fall for my smile, but not you. Fine, you won this time.” He simply sit down on the other seat and buckles his belt.
“Sorry for the bookstore incident, I hope we can still enjoy our flight back to Korea.” He said softly to you in Korean. Your eyes widen, oh he is a fluent Korean speaker.
You just nod and when you feel like there is nothing else to talk about right now, you put on the headphones and play yourself some music.
Something tickles your brain, something about Nakamoto Yuta, his name somehow feels familiar in your ear. You take off your headphone to listen to the safety procedure and that’s when Yuta speaks up again in Korean.
“Look at us,” he suddenly whispers, “We fought over the last book, fought over a window seat, both speak Korean… we have some things in common. Aren’t we basically a couple already?”
You punch his shoulder “Are you in your right mind?”
He looks at you annoyed “Didn’t you know I was flirting?”
You blush and scoff “Not that fast sir-“
He smirks “Oh Sir? You’re into that huh? Sounds interesting.” His gaze examines your face.
The way your eyes look into him with curiosity but defence, the way you hide your cheeks from blushing but your ears give away too much, and the way you bite your lips.
He winks, “Alright, I am not teasing my little lamb anymore. You might cry if I go too far. Just know that whoever dates you must be very lucky to win someone like you.”
Your heart fell for that, “Actually I am single,” you blurt that out and curse yourself when you see his gaze changes to a challenging one.
“Woah, were you hinting me?”
You shake your head “Sorry I just didn’t know I’d say that outloud.”
“People tend to tell the truth when they’re nervous. So tell me little lamb, are you nervous because I am too stunning or you’re afraid I might harm you.”
You close your eyes, it’s not the fear of him killing you in your sleep or robbing you. No, it’s pure nervousness.
“I am sorry, I need my time alone.” You give him a forced small smile so he doesn’t feel bad and you return to listening your music.
The rest of the flight, Yuta did not bother you anymore. He watched movies, played some game in his phone and even read some books.
You just interact with him when he helps you take out the things on the overhead cabin and while you wait for the luggage. He helps you with your luggage and you’re grateful for it, at least he is not a total asshole. He is actually sweet and caring, maybe he is a tsundere.
“Alright, I guess this is it. We part ways and maybe never see each other again.” Yuta pushes his trolley and you also did the same thing beside him.
You nervously chuckle, something in your hear wishes you’ll bump him once again. “Yeah, this is it. Thank you for helping me and the books.”
He laughs, “As much as I want to give you the remaining half, I promised someone this.”
You nod your head, “I understand, same thing goes to me.”
He taps his finger on the handle, “Think we might see each other again one day?”
You look to the distant, “Maybe? Hope it’s better than our first encounter.”
Yuta nods, “Yeah I wish that never happen again. So, this is it. Is someone picking you up?”
You take your phone out to see the message from the man picking you up, “Yes, my cousin is here. What about you? Taxi?”
“No, someone came to pick me up too.”
Your phone rings and both Yuta and you toss each other a glance. “Go, your cousin is here maybe.” He shoos you politely and you laugh at his action “See you when I see you! Bye Yuta!” you wave and walk with your trolley away while listening to your brother’s direction.
Yuta also picks up a call not longer after it, “Oh the mini market? Yeah I saw it. I’m walking there.”
You meet your cousin already and hug him tight “Taeyong!!! Glad you’re not late. Let’s go!” you try to bring him home first and show the other souvenirs first before finally telling him about the comic.
He ruffles your hair “I know you’re excited to go back to Seoul, but I am also here to pick up my friend. He’s also from Japan and I promised to pick him up too. He’s on his way.”
Your mind feels fuzzy but you try to ignore it, maybe you’re just nervous about telling the story. That was until you hear your cousin’s voice calling out a name you learnt today.
“Yuta!!”
“Taeyong-ah!!”
You peer over Taeyong’s shoulder and gasp when you see the same man you’ve been with the whole day.
“Yuta, this is the cousin I used to talk about, and (y/n) meet Yuta, my boyfriend.” Taeyong proudly introduces the two of you without knowing anything.
Yuta plays along and shakes your hand “The girl from the bookstore? (y/n) right?”
You smirk and play along too “Mister window seat! Yuta, true?”
Taeyong looks at the two of you with a big question mark on his face.
You stifle a laugh when Yuta nicely grabs his boyfriend’s hand and pushes his trolley to get to the car.
“We owe you a story, come let’s eat lunch and we will tell you everything!” you giggle as you push your belongings too.
Taeyong nods his head “Fine, looks like you two are hiding something. Hope it’s nothing bad.”
After loading your stuff and Yuta’s stuff, the three of you stop over a restaurant for lunch.
Once the lunch is over, you and Yuta both pull out a paper bag.
“For you, open it up and we will tell you the story.” You hand him the same bag Yuta handed over.
Taeyong curiously open the bag and screams when he sees the book, he wanted is complete here in front of his face.
“Oh the two of you did not forget! Why did you just get me two each?” he notices that soon when he arranges the comic books on the table.
“Who wanna tell?” you glance to Yuta.
He rolls his eyes, “You go first, then me.”
With that Taeyong laughs at the story both of you re-enact. He has the greatest laugh this year when he sees how you and Yuta re-do the scene while muttering the same Japanese words he did not understand.
“So, in the end both of you got me the complete set. Congratulations! None of you will die.” Taeyong ends the story with a nice wrap and the three of you can’t believe how small the world is.
See you tomorrow, on the last day!
Thank you so much!!! ily!!

my thoughts on worlds end club, under the cut because it’ll probably be long and also spoilers
so i bought the game today at around 9am and played it until i beat it at around 11:30pm ish? so ha uh yeah it took a little while but i was very enthralled in the story
the story and characters are hands down the best part of the game. compared to literally any of the danganronpa games, i like the cast of characters so much more. like there’s always one or two in a danganronpa games group that i just don’t like but in wec i loved all of them. i’d usually dislike chuko’s tsundere character type but i actually ended up liking her. my least favorite is probably dragon power ranger kid whatshisname but i don’t hate him or anything i just found him to be the weakest character tbh. but i do really like his character design
speaking of the character designs OOF they’re all so good. i didn’t realize until looking up stuff on the characters but they’re all based on the animals of the Chinese zodiac which is cool and the design elements are subtle and it’s not narratively important but i mean they didn’t need to be. there’s a few offhand remarks here and there like comparing kansai to a tiger and chuko to a rat but they’re not really shoved in your face which is nice
oh also i wanna compliment pai in particular. she’s the boar character which first of all i feel like people would usually make male, and if they made her female, then she would be angry and stubborn and probably not conventionally attractive but she’s not any of those! also she’s a little heavier than the rest of the girls which 1. makes her even more adorable, and 2. no one in the game brings up or makes fun of her for which is nice. mowchan sadly didn’t get exactly the same treatment he was still the fat comic relief character. he deserved so much better.
the art is all so pretty as well like i already loved the art style from pokemon and in wec it’s even more exaggerated and i live for it. i also like the movie they’re watching at the beginning has more realistic humans that’s just kinda funny.
the humor is pretty good i guess but what i’m really here for is the fun childish but realistic portrayal of friendship and emotions like it does kinda take me back to my own little group of friends in elementary school, where sometimes there would be disagreements, but we were still always friends
i loved reicho as a canonically mute protag and how none of his friends ever minded or even brought it up like that’s so cute. but the reveal that reicho was basically just a big puppet kinda just made it feel a little different... like idk how to explain it but yeah
ANYWAY here’s my obligatory paragraph about pochi because he’s my son now. the writers knew what they were doing by making him a kinda shy gamer kid bc they knew people were gonna relate to him even when he had a somewhat smaller role in the story before turning into the full fledged protagonist. anyway this robot puppy boy is my son i will protect him
the scene where pochi basically gets dunked on by the rest of the team is weird to me like idk it just feels out of character for most of them to be like lol yeah pochis useless RIGHT after he drove an entire train to one of the specific places that those special mushrooms grow and now they can all see vanilla
also kinda unrelated but this is my second game in the past few months where i correctly guessed one of the characters was voiced by megumi ogata because dang i just love her voice. this time it was pochi and the other one was the protag in the famicom detective club games. i legit heard one line and was like HOL UP and googled it lmao
i’m still confused on why the story takes place in the 90s. it doesn’t have a particularly 90s aesthetic and most of the technology just doesn’t match up with 90s tech. like i feel like it works better if it takes place more near present day. if there’s more cultural reasons then i’m not sure what they are but i’m really curious about this. the game is very reliant on japanese culture and locations, which isn’t a bad thing but i’m an ignorant american who was also born after the 90s so im wondering if there’s some specific reason why it’s SPECIFICALLY 90s japan
oh yeah i haven’t even talked about the gameplay yet. it’s.... shitty. maybe i’m a little biased because i’m not a big platformer girl but even so it’s just not.... good...... i kinda got myself soft locked one time because a big snowman guy was blocking my way and i had no way to kill him or get around him, luckily you can just restart from your last checkpoint but still. some of the special abilities/attacks just didn’t feel that good to use, like dragon boi’s and chuko’s felt too short range at times and jennu’s and aniki’s felt a little too slow. the rest were fine i guess. the only one i felt like was done well was kansai’s.
i played on easy mode cuz it was the default one that was highlighted and idk if it effects the platforming sections or the “puzzles” but the puzzles were way too easy. most of them just felt like they were checking that you paid basic attention to the story. the ones at the end are somewhat harder but i still didn’t have any problems with them. the stuff the outright tell you would have mad better puzzles like the xxy thing but at the same time were you even supposed to realize that? the otherworlder aka you i guess says it like no big deal but like i guess the middle x looked slightly different? but not enough to be like OH OBVIOUSLY ITS X TIMES Y. on the flipside i solved the heaven map puzzle before i even had all of the pieces. i guess i have to give it some slack though because it would probably be a bit harder if you didn’t really know english kinda like the danganronpa 11037 thing
also am i just stupid or how were you supposed to know the year the phone displayed was the y number in that puzzle? i forgot to get it before trying to solve the puzzle so i knew it corresponded to the y because it was the only clue i didn’t have so i didn’t have to think about it that hard but like did the phone have something to do with the letter y or was it just like a what clue haven’t i used kinda thing
anyway apologies for the super long post if you read the whole thing then wow thanks i guess? anyway in conclusion pochi is my son

First chapter preview:
Chapter 1
"Eff you! Eff me! Eff the world!" She shrieked with her lungs, hand pointed at the sky.
"I wanna hold guns and look cool in suits! I wanna be pardoned by university to become a boss! I wanna have a gang while playing background music!"
"IF I EVER REINCARNATE TO KATEKYO HITMAN REBORN, I'LL BECOME VONGOLA DECIMOOOOOOOO!"
Darkness enveloped her as she sunk deeper into the abyss, not knowing what was going on after that flash that blinded her eyes. Could it be isekai truck-kun? She scoffed at her own words, not believing a single thing that came out of her own thoughts. She felt a shuffle, then a thump as her whole world lifted in the air. Suddenly, a baby's cry chortled beside her, screaming.
What was going on? Was she being carried into some kind of ambulance? A hospital? Did she give birth-What? But she was still 19 years old and never touched a man's hand! The baby's cry grew louder, almost piercing her in the ears.
Was it even possible for her to remain conscious even though she couldn't open her eyes? She tried lifting her eyelids, but it remained glued shut, as if this impenetrable force was clamping down her eyes, telling her not to look.
A waft of air blew on her chest.
"[Papa! Look at them! Twins!]"
A woman's voice rang out loudly, but her tone was soft and melodic as the sounds of humans floated into her ears.
'...Japanese?'
"[Ah, but one isn't crying.]"
A man's voice rang out this time in front of her as she tried deciphering the words with all her experiences of watching anime for over 10 years. Crying? Did the man just say that 'one isn't crying?' Was he pointing to someone in the room?
She felt her whole world tip over before trying to flail, confusion ringing inside her mind before-
Slap!
"Waaaaaaaaah!"
'What the eff, bro?!'
She felt so sensitive-so...naked!
'Call my lawyer! I will sue you till you don't even have the freedom of speech! Lawyer! Lawyer!'
"Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalw!" She yelped her syllables that couldn't pop out of her mouth and tried again.
"Wawawawa-"
Something was weird. Very weird.
"[I think we've got ourselves a little weirdo from the get-go!]"
Her butt stung as she tried blinking her eyes, gasping twice and shaking her head to wake her up from this bad dream. Her vision stung the moment she did, lights blinding her as she screamed again, trying to bat away the light with her flimsy small fists. Through her blurry vision, she saw a man grinning from ear to ear before throwing her over his shoulder and patting her on the back. She humped, dry launching from the action as the woman's soft laughter rang from behind as her own eyes closed shut again.
What did she see? She didn't see clearly, but the world was so...colorful.
"[I think I have a name for this little weirdo already!]"
Name? What name? What the hell were these two strangers talking about? And why in the hell was she able to understand Japanese so clearly? And they messed up her pronouns-and-
She tried hard, fighting her clamped eyes, 'Almost there!'
"Sawada Isago! Golden dust for my career!"
Isago slammed his eyes open, blinking rapidly at the man who was now throwing his small body into the air, his golden-amber eyes completely dazzling Isago.
"Waah da dak."
His first words were swear words in English.
She stared absentmindedly out the front porch. No, he stared absentmindedly out the front porch this fine morning. The sky was bright blue while Isago glanced at the buzzing street of Namimori, a small town located at the edges of Japan. In the corner of his eyes, he saw a small bird land on one of the tree branches before someone tapped him on the shoulder.
"Isa..go! Let's play!" Tsuna smiled sweetly at his younger brother, holding up his teddy in one hand. They were at the young age of four, Tsuna being born just minutes earlier than Isago. They seemed like twins, but one preferred a shorter hairstyle than the other, and their hair was in different colours.
"Hm...sure! What do you want to play?" Isago answered like how a four-year-old should and pushed himself onto his feet. Tsuna squeezed his teddy, pondering a bit before tilting his head to the side.
Tsuna was exactly the same in the anime, with spiky brown hair and brown eyes that shone brightly in the sun, his soft features held more of some baby fat than what was portrayed in the graphics, but still, Tsuna resembled Vongola Primo.
'Definitely a descendant of the Vongola family,' Isago quirked his lips as Tsuna explained his game of hide and seek, except the purpose was to hide and find teddy.
"Sure!" Isago chirped, holding his hand out for the teddy. "I'll go first then, since you never do, Tsuna."
Tsuna beamed brightly at his younger brother, giving his teddy over before Isago pointed to a wall in the corner of the room and Tsuna plodded over, covering his eyes as he started to count down from 100. Isago smiled slightly, tip-toeing to the washroom and turning on the lights to hide the teddy behind the rows and rows of shampoo bottles in one of the cupboards.
Isago frowned a bit when he realized that he couldn't reach the board, placed the teddy on the table and walked to the toilet that was beside the sink. He stepped onto the toilet, using it as his stepping stone and slammed his small hands onto the table, heaving himself upwards. Snatching the teddy from the original spot, Isago opened the cupboard and organized the bottles as a coverup, arranging the bottles so that not even the ears of the brown toy were visible from an adult's point of view.
Isago stepped down the table, plopping quietly onto his feet before listening to the countdown from Tsuna's mouth at the number 40. Isago smiled carefully, closing the lights as his gold eyes flashed through the mirror once, and Isago made his way to Tsuna's bedroom. Mom was cooking in the kitchen and humming about dad's arrival today.
Isago had retained his father's golden eyes, and yet had a shade of mocha as his hair color. Neither dad nor mom had the hair color, but Nana assumed that it was because her predecessor's hair color was close to black in the past. In contrast to Tsuna's spiky hair, Isago had flatter hair and was long, to the point that it was possible to tie it into a semi-ponytail. He had bangs covering the front in a slanted way, almost completely contrasting to Tsuna's cute and fluffy hair. Well, not that it mattered to Isago.
What was concerning to Isago, was that he was born as a boy.
"Ready or not, here I come!"
Isago heard Tsuna call from the bottom of the stairs before his small footsteps plattered onto the wood. Isago stared momentarily at the door before purposefully closing it and plopping down on Tsuna's bed. The bedsheets ruffled, crinkling a bit and Isago stared at his own crotch.
What the heck, this was so weird to have. It was so tiring to constantly have a thing dangling in between his legs. Even though it didn't hurt or feel uncomfortable, this new addition was a very mind-blowing...experience. Manspreading was also a new thing.
"Isago…?" Tsuna's face peeped into his own room and giggled before skipping over to his brother. "You must have placed teddy here!"
"I don't know," Isago replied with a small smirk. "Why don't you try and find it?"
"Teddy! Teddy!" Tsuna called cutely as if the bear was able to reply back to him.
"Tsuna, if you can find it then I'll ask mom to make your favourite Salisbury steak that she only makes when dad comes home!" Isago called as Tsuna's eyes fired up intensely.
"Steak! Steak! Steak!" Tsuna batted his fists on his crouched knees and started to chant it like some kind of song. Joy could be seen all over his face as he rustled his piles of stuff in the closet, then turned over to his desk and started rummaging in the drawers.
"Steak, steak, steaky, steak-"
Isago smiled secretly, knowing that Tsuna had no knowledge of dad coming home today. Honestly, Isago didn't know what to describe his dad. A good dad? No, he left his wife basically widowed from the moment they were born. A bad dad? You couldn't say that either.
Then again, mama never worked, so it was plausible to think that the house was bought and supplied with money from dad every year. Not to mention that the house was quite large for a family of three. Dad was probably also preparing the house to be the main hideout for the future Vongola.
"Iemitsu Sawada, huh?" Isago murmured his dad's name under his lips.
There was a reason why his dad stationed his family near the unknown town of Namimori. It was probably in order to protect them from the mafia. So in the end, was he a good dad? Isago watched Tsuna's fluffy hair swish in the lights as the sound of tires echoed into the neighborhood.
Isago lifted his eyebrows at the sound, turning his head to Tsuna's open window to see a short black car parked a few meters away from the Sawada residence. Isago stood up slowly, walking towards the window and hopped onto a small step box and leaned on the wall, crossing his arms together as he peered outside.
"Tsuna, let's rank this game harder. You have exactly 100 seconds like the countdown to find your teddy, or else the promise is off," Isago turned to Tsuna who's eyes widened like saucers, gasping before throwing his hands into the depths of his drawers.
"That's not fair, Isago!" The boy whimpered as Isago started to count the numbers from 100, forcing the small boy to sweat. Inside, Isago spotted a blond head popping out of the driver's seat.
The man was wearing orange overalls that were only pulled onto his waist. His dirty sweatshirt was worn in a fashion that showed his armpit hair clearly even from far away. The sight was disgusting.
"Men," Isago made a face, recognizing that it was his father. "66...67...68...69…"
"Isago! Slow down!" Tsuna wailed and rummaged through his toy box, tears streaming down his face at the decreasing numbers. Iemitsu pulled a construction hat out of the front side, then walked to the passenger's seat, opening the door to reveal another man wearing a blue vacation shirt with pink flowers on it.
The man stepped out of the car, smiling widely at his assistant who passed him a straw hat. As if the man noticed, his eyes flashed to the window, meeting the gaze of Isago. There was curiosity and wonder that passed through the male's eyes, but then greeted the child by lifting his hat and giving a salute which Isago returned with a polite nod.
'Vongola ninth,' Isago addressed the man quickly, curling his lips at the status before turning back to Tsuna, the numbers ending with the last count of zero.
"Isaaaagoo!" Tsuna sobbed into his long-sleeved sweater, sniffing as the sleeve soaked up his snot. "I couldn't find it-I'm sorry!"
Isago's eyes softened at the small boy, hopping down from the stepping box before crouching next to Tsuna who was on his knees.
"Tsuna, Tsuna, why are you sorry?" Isago patted Tsuna on the shoulders. Tsuna threw his arm down, staring at Isago who had a soft smile on his face.
"Be-because Isago's favorite...also steak…" the young boy blew his wet cheeks and Isago chuckled, pulling his brother into a large hug. That was not exactly true, Isago's favourite was sweet parfaits rather than savory main course meals, but Nana had never brought the two to a sweets cafe so Isago had made up his preferences to match Tsuna's.
"How about this, I'll magically transform the steak onto the table if you promise me one thing," Isago patted Tsuna who blew into his shoulder. Momentarily, Isago made a face of disgust, but once thinking that they were from the same blood, a smile was forcefully plastered onto his soft features.
Tsuna also realized his own misdoings, instantly freezing before wiping his own sleeve on Isago's shoulder, trying to correct the snot, only to make it smear even wider on the hoodie.
"I'll have to change my clothes," Isago sighed before pushing Tsuna away and walking to his own room. Tsuna followed like an abandoned puppy. His two fingers fiddled as he watched Isago pull his T-shirt off, and grabbed a random sweater before pulling it over his head.
"Mm sorry Isago…" Tsuna trailed off, staring guilty on the ground as Isago's head emerged out. "I will promise anything that you want! Forever!"
'What a dangerous promise, Tsuna,' Isago's eyes glimmered before turning towards his brother. The shadows in his room casted upon Isago's face as his grin widened almost too maliciously.
"Then promise me Tsuna, no matter what the circumstance you must not harm me. If you do, then our relationship as brothers are over." Isago's hair fell over his eyes as he brushed it back, getting a clear look at the boy's small face.
"Harm?" Tsuna tilted his head curiously at the word, repeating to make sure he pronounced it correctly. "What's that?"
"It means that I will be gone from your life forever, Tsuna," Isago's voice deepen with glee at the horror that flashed through the boy's face. Tsuna's hands instantly clutched the sides of his shorts, shaking his head furiously.
"I will never harm you! I will never! Never!"
"Good," Isago walked closer to his dear brother, jerking his thumb under Tsuna's teary eyes. The young boy looked fragile and broken at Isago's words, almost as if he couldn't imagine living without Isago.
"Because I love you so much that it may serve as a double-edged sword to both of us," Isago gave little Tsuna a small peck on his cheeks, smirking at Tsuna's pouting face as his fingers clutched the edges of Isago's sweater.
"I wove you too," Tsuna buried his face into his brother's sweater, murmuring the phrase until the front door was pushed open and mama's clear voice rang through the house, calling the two boys down.
It was true, Tsuna was a precious little brother to Isago, even if Tsuna was legally the older one. But that didn't matter in front of power. If Tsuna stood in the way of succession, then Isago would cut off Tsuna's arms and legs to prevent Tsuna from overtaking the throne. That was how cold-hearted Isago was.
But then again, was Isago able to do it?
That's why Isago would give Tsuna the choice. He would not harm Tsuna until his own brother decided that Isago was a threat to the family and his life. He would let Tsuna break their relationship, and make him wallow in despair. As long as Tsuna loved him, Isago would let him go. But if Tsuna disobeyed, then everything will be over.
"Come on, brother," Isago gestured towards the door, stepping forward with Tsuna holding him. When they reached the bottom of the stairs, Iemitsu was grinning at both boys, arms extended.
"Weirdo Isago! TsunaTsuna! Papa is back home!"
The two boys huddled over to their papa, Tsuna waddling towards him while Isago was pulled into a large embrace, dad's hand ruffling in his hair as Isago grinned at the man. The smell of sweat and tobacco filled Isago's nostrils, instantly making him suppress a sour face at his own father. Mama giggled at the family reunion while Isago's eyes trailed to her, gesturing for a group hug.
"Oh, dear!" Mama threw herself into the group hug and Iemitsu kissed her sloppily on the cheeks, rubbing her face with fondness. It was then Tsuna noticed a stranger behind dad, smiling sweetly at the family after Tsuna opened his mouth with quivering fear.
"Oh, Tsuna! Don't worry, this is Timoteo-" Dad looked over at the grandfather figure, releasing all of us as he gestured politely at the man. "-My boss."
"Welcome!" Nana grinned, lowering her body into a 90-degree bow. "Thank you for taking care of my husband all this time!"
Isago glanced towards his mom, then followed, repeating the same words of thanks. Tsuna only stood there, confused and not knowing what to do and hid behind his mother, clutching her apron.
"Tsuna!" Mom bickered with a sigh but smiled soon afterwards. She patted me on the head as a 'good job' before apologizing for her son's imprudence.
"That isn't a problem," Timoteo said, softening his eyes at us before crouching down to our eye level. "I have to thank you for having such a wonderful father that I can trust."
'Of course, you're literally naming his son as successor,' Isago thought bitterly before pulling Tsuna out from behind mom. 'So who is it going to be? Tsuna, or me?'
Vongola ninth had to choose between the two of them because they were the only ones that would be left in the Vongola bloodline. If what Isago remembered was correct, there was more than one successor to the Vongola line, but they all died, which left Tsuna being the only one that could inherit the family.
Tsuna's hand started to quake before Isago squeezed it reassuringly, giving him a small nudge. Tsuna was still hesitating so Isago started first.
"I'm Isago, this is Tsuna, my older brother!" He deliberately said, lowering his head as Tsuna, this time, followed his younger brother's lead.
"Oh, he's the older one, huh?" Timoteo turned his gentle gaze towards the older brother and nodded. Isago pleaded that they were going to leave the throne of successor to the worthy, not the older. Isago was going to prove himself worthy, prove himself, to be a better leader than his brother.
Tsuna was not suited as a leader, maybe in the long run of taking care of his family members, yes, but Isago was more of a leader in the expanding and influential way.
'Give the role of successor to me, and I will hold Vongola to its glory. I will make Vongola the strongest in history, and it will flourish more than the past ten generations combined.'
Isago wanted the Vongola position. He wanted it desperately.
As if Timoteo could hear Isago's thoughts, the grandfather's eyes turned to the younger sibling, staring at him hard. Isago didn't move his eyes, only stared back and tried to convey the message through his gaze.
'Give it to me, I want it. I need it.'
Timoteo's gaze deepened, opening his mouth to say something as conflict passed through his face, then clamped his mouth shut. Iemitsu, sensing that something was sort of amidst, invited his boss into the house, telling the group that he was famished. Nana gasped, pardoning her forgetfulness before guiding the guest to the table.
Isago let go of the breath he held inside, looking towards Tsuna who was staring at the grandfather.

I'm Kiyoomi Sakusa and I'm a germaphobe - Chapter 34: From nightmare to dream and picture book (END)
Tumblr media
Words: 2.357 Warning: fluff, manga spoiler
Chapter 33 -  When everything breaks, I believe in you.     | Masterlist
(y/n) = your name | (l/n) = last name | (e/c) = eye colour | (h/c) = hair colour  | (c/n) = child name
Time flies and Kiyoomi holds his little miracle in his arms and hopes that her first words will be Father and not Mother. (y/n) is still at the weekly market when Kiyoomi sits on the couch with his little daughter and holds her tiny hands in his. “Fa- ther.” he forms the words with his mouth. But the little one looks at him questioningly. “Fa-ther” he repeats, but again nothing. Slightly sulking, he lifts her up and holds her tightly in his arm. “It’s no big deal. You don’t have to say Father yet. You’re still my little princess.” lovingly, he gives her a kiss on her little nose and watches her smile on him joyfully. It looks so funny when such a small creature smiles without teeth. “Kiyoomi? Darling? Are you there?” he hears the voice of (y/n). “We’re in the living room!” he calls to her. With the groceries in hand, she walks past the two into the kitchen, followed by Kiyoomi and her little ones. “Do you need help?” he asks, with his daughter still in his arms. “No. Thank you, darling.” she smiles and greets her husband and their daughter with many kisses. “Hello my little (c/n).” (y/n) greets her. “Mo-ther!” she mumbles incoherently to herself. Both look at her with big eyes. “Did she just say mother?” asks (y/n) Kiyoomi. For real? All the time he’s practicing the word father with her and the first thing she says is mother? “No, I think she said father.” Kiyoomi tries to talk himself into it. “She must have said mother.” (y/n) grins mischievously and looks over again in (c/n). “Did you say Mo- ther or Fa- ther my little sunshine?” Her tiny hands still cling to Kiyoomis shirt as she looks at her mother. “Mo- ther, mo- ther, mother.” she says a little louder and faster. (y/n) looks triumphantly over to Kiyoomi with her eyebrow raised, who turns away from her with an eye roll and sulking mouth. “You won. You two have already conspired against me. How will that be when she can speak properly?” he keeps pouting. “Come on, honey, come on. Don’t be such a bad loser.” (y/n) calls him from the kitchen. “Yes...” he murmurs surly and sits down on the couch with(c/n). - Kiyoomi is often at his training. However, try to take as much time as possible for his family. Because his family is the most important thing to him. He doesn’t want (y/n) to be solely responsible for the education. After all, they decided to have a child together. Therefore, he only plays as a substitute for the Japanese national team. But still has to come to important games. Today he has another game, fortunately in Japan. Somewhat tensely, he says goodbye to his two favorite in the morning and then goes to the hall where the game will take place. The hall is filled with several hundred thousand people and the crowd is raging as they see the players of the national team enter the hall. “So many people...” he muttered as he looked around the hall. “Hey, Sakusa, how’s your wife and daughter? Are they also at the game today?” he hears Ushijimas voice behind him. Thoughtfully he turns to his fellow player and stays in his movement. “Ushijima. (y/n) is fine and (c/n) is also fine. They are not here today. I think (y/n) wanted to meet my father.” He mumbles to himself. “Oh... To bad... I haven't seen them in a while. Maybe we’ll see them again at practice soon? Will you bring them back soon?” he asks curiously. Because he likes (y/n) and he also likes little (c/n). She liked to be lifted up by him or sit on his shoulders. “I can ask them if they want to come next time. Yes.” he answers him with a small smile. But what he doesn’t know, (y/n) had talked to his coach and managed to stand behind the barrier with her little daughter in the front row. She wore one of Kiyoomis jerseys and had also bought her little princess a small jersey, which was still too big for her, because the jerseys were only for children from three years. (y/n), with her daughter in her arms and (c/n), with a rattle and a flag bearing her father’s name, are looking for Kiyoomi. They start the game and Kiyoomi has the serve. “Go Dad! Go Dad!” brings him the voice of a very familiar person from the concept. With his eyes searching for the voice, he looks into the crowd until he sees his wonderful wife and his beloved daughter standing in the front row with a wide smile. A narrow but loving smile draws his face, and he waves to the two briefly, but then concentrates again on the game and makes one of his best serves. It is not easy for their team to play against such a strong team as the Argentina's. But after two exhausting hours they can look forward to it. Because they did it and they won. The players embrace each other with joy, but Kiyoomi is the first to break away from the embrace of his comrades. Then he wants to go to his wife and daughter. Hold them in his arms. “What a nice surprise that you two are here.” he greets them joyfully and hugs them. “You did a great job, darling.” (y/n) grins and gives him a kiss. “Great Dad! Great Dad!” Even the little pretty (c/n), who sits on (y/n)’s arms, is happy. She has her eyes, but her father’s dark and curly hair. “Come here my little one!” Like a proud father, he takes her out of (y/n)’s arms and lifts her up. The cameras on them don’t bother him. Because the most important thing right now is his family. “Hello (y/n)!” Ushijima greets her and looks at Kiyoomi. “Didn’t you say they weren’t here today?” Laughing, (y/n) beats her hand on his shoulder. “That was a surprise. He didn’t know we were going to be here." With a barely visible smile Ushijima looks from (y/n) over to (c/n), who also looks at him joyfully and reaches her hands out to him. “Wow just look at yourself (c/n). You've grown up so well my pretty girl. Shall we look again at the clouds and let you fly?” he asks her. She joyfully raises her hands, cause on Ushijimas shoulders everything looks completely different. After the departure of the Argentine team, the team decides to go to Osamu together with (y/n) and her little one to celebrate their victory. Having arrived there, Osamu is already expecting the troop, but is most looking forward to his little princess. When he sees her, he approaches Kiyoomi with sparkling eyes and takes the little one from his arms. “There’s my little princess! Do you want to come back to the kitchen with Uncle Osamu and make Onigiris?” he asks joyfully. “Yes! Uncle Osamu is great, but dad is greater!” Laughing, (y/n) puts her hand on her stomach. “That means better, my pretty one.” Thoughtfully she looks at her mother and then looks at Osamu again. “Dad is better!” She grins, but that’s fine with him. As long as he’s in second place with Kaede, that’s okay. When the two disappear in the kitchen, Kiyoomi and (y/n) sit down next to Atsumu, who still pouts because the small whirlwind did not want to come to him. She kept saying that Atsumu was a stray. Whoever taught him that... “Don’t sulk around Atsumu...” sighs Kiyoomi, who puts his hand on his forehead. “Did you really teach (c/n) I’m a stray? What's wrong with you Omi-Omi?” he keeps pouting. “But I'm right with that. Who knows where you’ve been all day.”, hisses Kiyoomi. Atsumu wants to answer him just as a voice prevents him. “Can we join you all?” This voice... He knows that voice. Somewhat surprised, Kiyoomi looks at the entrance and sees Kaede and his father entering the restaurant. “Father?” he asks a little surprised. “I wanted to congratulate you on your victory. Besides, I wanted to see my granddaughter. (y/n) told me she wasn’t coming to me today, but that I could come to the store after your game.” With raised corners of the mouth, Kiyoomi greets the two men. Not only did he have a wonderful wife by his side, an incredibly great child, friends who stand by him, and a well-running career. He has had very good contact with his father since his accident. He and his siblings were at their wedding and congratulated the two. He didn’t want his mother there. He didn’t forgive her for what she did to (y/n). His father is often at their home and plays with (c/n), reads to her or makes a few trips with her. His siblings also visit the three regularly. And his cousin? Yes, he is there almost every week and does a lot with them. And from Osamu and Kaede he doesn’t even have to start. The two are felt thirty of twenty-four hours a day there. They always help (y/n) when Kiyoomi is abroad. Sometimes he has to admit that he is also jealous. Because the men were also there in situations in which Kiyoomi himself would have liked to participate, but he had to go abroad for a volleyball game. For example, Kaede was there when (c/n) first said 'Dad is the best'. Osamu was there when she got her first tooth. But Kiyoomi was also there in many situations. He was there when she took her first steps, at her first word. When she was sick for the first time, (y/n) and he sat at her bed all night and measured her fever. He was also the one who got up at night when (c/n) cried. The only thing he didn’t like was changing diapers. To this day, he does not understand how such a small person can bring so much out of herself and how the diaper dustbin can stink so much. “But then you have to get her away from her beloved uncle Osamu.” (y/n) grins and puts her hand on Kiyoomis lap. Your touch gets him out of his mind. “Wait! Osamu won’t be the better uncle!” Kaede hisses sulking and stomping towards the kitchen. Followed by Bokuto and Atsumu, who also believe that Osamu should not be the only one who can seize this sweet little princess. Also Hinata wants to play again and runs after the men. “Osamu! Give us (c/n) finally! She is not just yours. We all want to play with her and make her laugh. The little mouse doesn’t always have to sit in the kitchen with you!” Atsumu calls to his brother as he stomps into the kitchen. “Yes Osamu! Just because you’re her godfather doesn’t mean she can’t do anything with her real uncle. So give me my little princess.” Kaede also calls to him into the kitchen, followed by Bokuto and Hinata. Ushijima, who is sitting at the table in front of Kiyoomi, clears his throat and stands up. “If you’ll excuse me. I have to go to the bathroom.” He says in a quiet monotonous tone. But he does not move towards the toilets, but also goes into the kitchen. “Don’t be so loud. You still scare little (c/n).” he says earnestly and goes over to Osamu, who holds (c/n) in his arms and protects her from the men in the kitchen. “May I?” asks Ushijima and takes without waiting for an answer, (c/n) from Osamus arms. “We both wanted to fly again after the game. Right?” Usually Ushijima never smiles. But (c/n) warms his heart, and without realizing it, his corners of his mouth warp. “Yes! Fly, fly, fly!” she shouts joyfully, while Ushijima puts her on his shoulders. “Excuse us.” are the last words that come out of Ushijima as he passes the men together with (c/n). Partly sulking, partly with open mouths, they all stand silently in the kitchen and look after Ushijima as he walks away with little (c/n). “But she’s still far too young to leave with such a serious person as Ushijima. She needs idiots like us...” Bokuto sulks. “She grows up so fast.” Atsumu complains when his brother pulls a rag through his face. “So! Now get out of my kitchen!” “If I’d known we were going to bring such a crazy bunch together, I would have stayed in bed today.” Kiyoomi sighs a little desperately and leans his head against (y/n)’s shoulder. “But this colorful bunch belongs to us Kiyoomi. They love us and we love them, too.” (y/n) answers, lovingly scratching his head with her hand. Yes, this colorful bunch belongs to them and somehow it also completes their colorful picture book. Kiyoomi would never have thought that he would be so happy at some point. And all this is thanks to (y/n). Her, her personality and his then sprained index finger. “I love you, my queen.” He whispers softly and a gentle smile draws his lips. “I love you too, darling.” Together with (y/n), he is already looking forward to getting old and cranky and sitting together with her in two rocking chairs on the terrace. Holding her wool while she knits little baby socks for her grandchildren. In the end, it was not wrong to face his fear... although he is still a germaphobe and could not completely overcome his fear... because he has gained something wonderful instead... A life like a picture book.

Completed - Faxanadu
So, at the end of my last post game evaluation, I brought up "Faxanadu" as a better alternative to "Zelda II: The Adventure of Link." I honestly don't know if that's a controversial opinion or not. On the surface, I can see that raising the gall of a lot of dyed-in-the-wool Nintendo fans. Like, how dare I lift the third-party product over something created by Nintendo itself. And, to be honest, I can feel that contradiction. "Faxanadu" looks worse, sounds worse, and plays just a bit stiffer than "Zelda II." Why would I like this game more if it is an inferior product?
Well, in this case, it all comes down to attitude.
"Faxanadu" is a weird little offshoot from a prestigious pedigree. Directly, it's a spin-off/side story to "Dragon Slayer II: Xanadu" of the "Dragon Slayer" series. I'm guessing that if you are as familiar with Japanese computer RPGs from the 1980s—that is to say, knowledgeable by the name alone—you might recognize its sister games "Sorcerian" for its lovely soundtrack and "Tokyo Xanadu" from a list of titles available on Steam. But, hey. TL;DR—"Dragon Slayer II: Xanadu" sold 400,000 game copies in 1985, so Nintendo was all too happy to get a slice of that pie. In the translation from computer to Famicom ("Faxanadu"? Get it?), the adaptation lost its RPG battles and became a more stream-lined action platformer with some vestigial RPG elements.
Sounds strange? It kind of is. Just think "Zelda II" without death pits.
Adding to the uniqueness of this game is its peculiar plot. In "Faxanadu", your PC is charged with stopping a horde of extra-terrestrial forces and dwarves hopped up on meteor dust from killing all of the elves living alongside them on the World Tree. It's like the Yggdrasil myth meets "Night of the Comet." Very, very 1980s in its mix of mythology and weird space shit.
The game itself is as you might expect from an action platformer. Move around locations, purchase equipment, fight, keep moving until you find the final boss. The weirdness of it flakes off a little bit at a time. Like, those experience points you accumulate? They don't go into stat improvements. You talk to a guru (a priest dude) to bank them in and earn a title. This will aid you when/if you die, as the game will drop your corpse off at the last guru you visited with a preset amount of money based on how awesome your title is. Dying can be a great way to warp around, as well as to get your ass back to full health for free. Hell, you don't even lose accumulated items if you die. (Although, if you use a key, that’s gone for good. You may have to purchase a few extra if you die in the wrong spot.) Death isn't always the best strategy, but it can help in the right circumstances.
Frankly, the game is very chill about your failure. Pretty much everything else, too.
The mellow atmosphere of "Faxanadu" is something to be appreciated. Even if most people have given up on their home being saved, they're more than alright sitting around, smoking and drinking and chatting you up. (God bless, there are so many smokers in this game.) People are constantly telling you to not try too hard to save their asses, as well as encouraging meditation and keeping calm in the face of defeat. Not to be crass, but it makes you wonder if people have something other than tobacco in their cigarettes.
Let's be honest. If they were toking, it would explain a few laughable bugs.
Oh, man. You've got to hear about these errors. Like, I know register mathematics and assembly coding is a bitch, but this game makes some choice mistakes. Like, that title system I mentioned earlier? You're supposed to be given more time to use special items like hourglasses and winged boots when your title increases in rank. In execution, the opposite happens. The more monsters you kill, the less time you're given on the clock to use cool shit. It doesn't ever lock you out of an area, but it is something to keep in mind. Additionally, there's this pendant that you're supposed to get in the second area that should increase your attack power. However, the game already thinks you have that equipped at the start, so when you get it, that attack boost gets turned off. That's right. Take the pretty necklace and you do less damage. I mean, hey. You don't want to get it accidentally broken, do you?
This game isn't particularly bright in the aesthetics department, either. Most of the color palette is brown, green, cream, and salmon. Character portraits have this weird animation when they talk to you where their blinking and speaking is desynced in a disturbing fashion. Hell, of the allegedly dwarven enemies, I can only point to one or two enemies that I believe are dwarves. The music is a little better than average for the NES, but nothing I'd put in a playlist (minus the opening theme, which is an awesome fantasy rip.) I mean, it's sure better than the "Dragon Slayer II: Xanadu" footage I saw on YouTube, but it's not exactly a feast for the eyes and ears. Even platforming and movement of your PC is a bit stiff. Also, this uses password systems to save instead of batteries. Which, hey, fine by me. But, it's definitely cheaper than using a battery, and I know a lot of people find passwords to be difficult or annoying to use.
So, if this is an inferior looking and feeling product in comparison with "Zelda II", why do I like this one more?
Well, the chillness factor, for one. The difficulty in this game is much more manageable as well. You can carry several healing potions on you, and there are classes of enemies you can farm for food to get your health up in dire straits. Hell, there's even an elixir that will auto-pop on you if you take too much damage. Additionally, screwing up platforming doesn't automatically kill you. It might make you have to take a few rooms to get back to where you were trying to go, but it's not a kiss of death.
Yeah, this one's easier, for sure. But, I don't feel like it's purposefully wasting my time, either. The cash for most equipment upgrades can be ground out within ten or fifteen minutes, if you're willing to put in the time. You can skip certain locations, if you really don't want to deal with their hassle. Granted, skipping too much could cost you the best equipment, and you certainly need that to fight the final boss. But, the trials you face to get that aren't the worst. Hell, getting the Dragon Slayer itself becomes retroactively sad and metal once you figure out just what you were fighting to get it.
There are important things to do, sure. Nobody's on your ass if you screw up. The NPCs want you to succeed, and they want you to do so with a clear head (and an empty purse, in some cases.) It's the kind of game where you take an afternoon or two to knock out. Nothing overwrought, nothing dramatic. Just you and a handful of Keebler Elves fighting back cosmic horrors that have taken over the neighbors.
It would be interesting to know the scale of this world. The dwarves don't seem to be that much shorter than the elves, so I have to wonder if everybody's just four feet tall or something.
I'm almost certain that I picked this up off eBay decades ago after reading either a genre list or recommendation list on GameFAQs. Even now, the price on it is cheap. (Of course, ROMs are free, but it's a $10.00 cart.) This was a better game than what I would normally get out of my other source of NES games—that is to say, the K-Mart bargain bin (which may have been leftover stock the company bought from FuncoLand? Not sure.) Long story short, this game is relatively short, cheap, and fulfilling. If you need something retro and easy going, this game might do the trick. It might not blow your socks off, but it won't blow your head off, either.

Ok ok hear me out, Shuichi having 2 calm down a borrower after they’ve been caught by Kokichi
I'm,,, wheezing,,,
Alrite if the borrower is so scared I'm assuming this is going with a villainous Kokichi? That's not my fave trope but I can go with that
Mmmm maybe maybe gimme a sec,,, ohhh okay I got it here's what I'm thinking:
Shuichi knows something weird is going on in his apartment. There's odd supplies and bits of food missing, since he lives alone then there must be something or someone stealing all rhat. Obviously it can't be rats or some run cause they wouldn't steal pins and bottle caps, it has to be a someone. But why steal those things and such small quantities of food? Is someone toying with him? He checked with his neighbours and no one reports hearing or seeing anyone intrude in his apartment. So it's safe to say Shuichi is really creeped out but also very, very intrigued
Eventually he makes his lil investigation and the best conclusion he comes to is that it's one of those tiny thiefs he's read legends about in shady websites. It sounds really stupid but it's the only fitting conclusion, besides, does it matter if it's so carzy? Not really. His life is already so stressful he needs some wonder and fantasy, so he just goes with it and starts jokingly believing in the little people in his walls, sometimes outloud saying stuff like 'Hey right now I'm not in the kitchen so if you want to get some food now the coast is clear' or 'goodnight little people or person have a safe stealing trip' and 'by the way little people if you need anything just tell me okay? I'm leaving the cupboards open I bought some groceries today hope that'll be good enough'. He doesn't believe that one second, but he finds it really fun and a nice way to escape from stress, thinking there's someone listening to him.
Though, he does tell Kokichi about the weird occurrences in his apartment and jokingly mentions it could be tiny thiefs. Kokichi takes that much more seriously and takes it as a challenge and a game to understand what's going on at Saihara's place.
When Shuichi is gone, Kokichi lockpicks his door and gets in (Saihara already knows about his lockpicking, and Kichi even snuck in to surprise him a couple times, so it's alright) and coincidentally (more like by the power of scriptwriting ease) the borrower is out borrowing at that time.
Pif paf poof! Kokichi jumps at the little fella before he can get away, plucks him up in a fist and sticks him in his pocket and leaves like the thief he is. No more problems for his friend Saihara.
Now, I think Kokichi is the type who always wants entertainment. Either he'll be the one entertaining large groups and people he's keen of with his antics, or pushing the buttons of those he finds boring. Going further with this to make him the villain here, he'd be curious about the weird lil guy he found but also think they'll be too weak and boring if he doesn't mess with them.
He'd defo enjoy manhandling the hell out of the lil borrower at first, playing games with it and making it do tedious parkours n stuff or hang them where they can't move a muscle, like those little rain doll things Japanese people hang to their umbrellas and elsewhere for good weather? Yea like that. Nothing to actually physically harm the lil guy, but he'll push them to their very limit and keep them weak and exhausted.
Oftentimes he'll 'forget' to lock them up at night and make them think they can escape, only to catch them at the very least second, 'It's a lie!' and yoink them up and lock them again or sleep with them trapped in a loose fist. It happens many times and each time the borrower knows it's a trap but tries anyway, and each time they get caught they despair more and more.
The times Kokichi actually tries to act like a pure villain is when he's interrogating the borrower. Who are you, what are you, why were you at Saihara's place, why do you hide and steal... Etc etc. He does that dark face thing and brings a finger down on the borrower's torso gently pressing on it taunting them. It's pathetic seeing them pinned down and struggling to fight even one finger.
Needless to say, Kokichi's fun is hell for the poor borrower. Plus, being already super afraid of humans, their experience with Kokichi is borderline traumatic.
Meanwhile, Shu notices the little stealings stopped. He's kinda sad about it and still talks to his walls like 'hey little people are you still here? Hope I didn't anger you or something please come back' but ultimately doesn't dwell on it and keeps his focus on more important matters.
One day he needs to get back something he lent to Kokichi, who's lot home. He needs it really urgently so he just uses the spare keys kichi gave him (yea I'm just assuming they're that good of friends) and quickly goes in his room to get it, but as he's leaving he hears a weird little sound, something like a whimper. For a second he thinks Kokichi is hiding under his bed or something but the sound seems like it came from his desk. He gets closer and inspects it and sees a flash of movement from a drawer that's cracked open. His curiosity is piqued and he takes a look in...
And finds a terrified little guy.
Shu's mind short-circuits for a second, unable to process the scene before his eyes. It gets worse when the weird tiny person speaks 'Why you- why are you here? Did K-Kokichi let you see me?'
Shu is super taken aback and stutters a quick no, and sees the little person scoot back, fear clear in its eyes. He realizes he looks like an intruder or a thief.
'Ah- I don't want to hurt you! I'm kind of lost here though, who are you? Why are you like this... And in Kokichi's drawer?'
For a moment, the tiny person doesn't speak or look at him in the eyes, deep in thoughts and reluctant with fear, but then they speak.
'Shuichi, y-you have to help me... Kokichi kidnapped me- I don't want to be here! Please help me!' and despite seeming terrified of Shu, they seem desperate.
Shu is now 10x times more lost. The situation is as confusing as a dream, but what matters at the moment is to help and reassure the scared little person. He's really not sure what to do, but first it'd be good to get them out of that dark and cramped drawer and go back to his place and try to figure things out.
He doesn't really know if he can grab the lil fella, so he takes his cap off and lets them climb in then holds it up to his chest to hide the tiny guy while he walks in the streets. He's not the best at comforting but he does mumble a few apologies and reassuring words to let the tiny person know that everything is fine. It's a little unnerving for the borrower to hear Shu talk to them again like he used to- except this time, Shu knows they exist. Either way, it helps bring some comfort.
Shu bumps into Kokichi on his way out and freaks out, but tries to keep his cool.
'Saihara~ did you need something at my place? You should have called me you know? It's very rude to go inside people's houses while they're away, also super illegal. Gasp! Did Saihara finally succumb to the temptation of crime?' his tone is teasing and playful, but there's something of an edge to it, and his big, bright smile seems too forced to be genuine.
'ah, yeah but it's alright I got it now-'
'what are you hiding in your cap?'
Meanwhile the borrower can hear shu's heart pound too fast, or maybe that's their own heartbeat. They don't want to be caught by Kokichi again.
'Nothing- really, I just took it off since it's a little hot outside'
'you say that while wearing a hoodie? Saihara would never ever take his cap off! What are you hiding?' his face goes blank and serious. Before he can be stopped, he reaches for the cap and tilts it to see the tiny, shaking fella inside.
Now, Shuichi isn't the confrontational type, but the tiny person just looks so terrified and pitiful, all shaking and wide eyed. He smacks the hand reaching for tiny person harshly and brings the cap and the tiny fella closer to his chest, then sneaks another hand in to brush against their toothpick-like arm in reassurence. He frowns and tries to question Kokichi, but the shorter guy takes the lead and speaks first.
'oh, I see you found my little friend!'
'i would hardly call them your "friend" seeing how scared of you they look'
'aww, so mean! They're scared of everyone, not just me! Besides, you should be grateful, Saihara, I got rid of your apartments's problem and fixed them! Now you can be sure they'll never try to mess with you again. Ah, but if you want your problem back, I don't care. They were too boring anyway' his tone is venomous, and there's a finality to it. Just like that Kokichi walks away, whistling a tune like he'd just been talking about the weather, that seems so over the top for him that Shu gets the feeling he's pissed but is hiding it. Shuichi really wants to grab his shoulder and stop him to confront him, but the shaky person clinging to his hand is more important at the moment.
He goes back to his apartment in a rush and carefully sets the tiny person in his bed since it's the most comfortable surface and the poor little guy seems exhausted. He's not really sure what he should do so he leaves to the kitchen to make some tea and clear his mind.
He goes back to his room and can't find the small person! He freaks out and starts looking for them- but then a thought pops in his mind, he remembers how he'd thought there could be little people living in his walls, and it just clicks that if the person knew his name and somewhat trusted him then maybe, as crazy as that sounds, they could be the little thief in his walls?
After a moment of thought, it doesn't sound that crazy after all. Shuichi sighs and sets the cup and thimble of tea on his desk, then looks around the room and thinks of what to do in that situation.
'Um,' he feels self conscious, talking to the walls again but knowing this time that there's someone listening, 'i know you're really scared right now, I would be too if I were you. I'd probably be even more scared than you- I know I would never have trusted some giant stranger to hold me and help me get out of a bad situation, that was really brave. So, uh... Thank you for trusting me back there, I'm glad I could help. I don't really have the right to ask that but... please, don't be afraid of me. If you don't need my help anymore then I'm really happy, but it would kill me to know if you're hiding while you need help. I know I must look really scary to you, really really scary, but I promise I only want to help. So, um, please don't hesitate to come if you need anything.' he exhales and feels his face flushing. The words sound cheesy on his tongue, but he is being as honest as he can be.
He doesn't expect it to work though, so when he sees a tiny head poking from behind the pile of books on his desk, he feels the tension in his limbs evaporate and a warm feeling blooming in his chest. Being so shy, people don't think he is reliable, so he's glad to see someone so scared of him still put some trust in him.
The borrower takes a few steps closer and nods 'alright'.
Then there's a bit of an awkward silence as neither knows what to do next. Shu remembers his old plans and carefully pushes the thimble closer to the little person.
'ahh, i made you some tea. It must have gotten cold now though, sorry. Do you want me to hear it up again?' and he leaves to do it, stops at his bedroom's door, thinking that if he leaves the little person again they might try to run off, but he pushes that thought away.
He's gals and relived when he gets back and finds them sitting in the middle of his desk, nervous but present nonetheless. He feels too intimidating and large and monstrous so he kneels on the floor to be more at eye level with the tiny person.
'we can talk if you want, or we can just be silent. Either way is fine with me' he doesn't want them to feel pressured, poor little thing already seems too scared and fidgety. He's afraid to loose whatever silver of trust they have in him.
The borrower is silent for a while, sipping at their tea and stealing a few glances up at their old bean. Living alone, their bean had been their only company. Not to mention that he was so nice when he talked to them in the walls, not even sure someone was listening. It had been unnerving, but also a nice change from the constant silence and loneliness. The borrower feels a bit more at ease and slowly opens up about what happend and who they are.
They're a little quiet, stammer a lot and speak so fast most of their speech doesn't make much sense and is hard to follow, but Shuichi patiently listens anyway, until their words slowly fade to small sobs and quiet sniffles.
Shuichi's heart tightens at the sight. He doesn't know how to comfort a crying person, but he has to be there for them, so he slides a finger on their back and rubs it in gentle motions. He doesn't do anything more and lets them decide whether or not they accept the gesture, thinking the touch may discomfort them. he just doesn't want to overwhelm the poor fella.
Shuichi is usually the one to rely on others, the role of a strong and supportive person is foreign to him so he's bit at a loss for words, but he does clumsily promise he'll protect them and make them happy.
(shoot! This got much longer than I planned but eh, at least I kinda like how it turned out it was worth spending a while on)

Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth
This has definitely been one of the games that I played this year.
So I have... a lot of thoughts about Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth and I wanna talk about. These thoughts might not be super contiguous or all track logically, but honestly, that’s just kind of the same as the experience that I had playing Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth (I’ll just say CS for short going forward). CS is a good game, and I enjoyed my time with it a lot, but it also is a bit baffling at times and so it’s like... I like it, I had a good time with it mostly, but there are bits that made me just feel confusion as to whether I could actually call this a good game.
So... I’m gonna try organizing my thoughts here based on the game’s title to start, cause that seems like a fun way to start out with this writeup of my thoughts.
The Digimon
So, I’ve attempted to play through this game 3 times now. The first time, I picked up the version on PS4 second-hand from gamestop and made it maybe 4 chapters into the 20-chapter story before a better big game captured my attention. The second time, I bought the Complete Edition when it came out on Switch and attempted another playthrough. I think that time I made it 6 chapters in, but issues with the game’s difficulty and my bigger interest in other games that were out at the same time made me fall off of it. Lately, I’ve been on a kick of playing through really big JRPGs on the Switch, and I figured this was the time to really push my way through. But to do that, I had to find the fun. Because my previous times, I didn’t find it to be a ton of fun - the story was meh, the experience was extremely linear, the difficulty had weird spikes and valleys all around, and it just didn’t seem that fun. But I was recently watching a retrospective on the digimon franchise (shout out to Billiam on youtube for that if you’re interested), and while watching I came to the realization that the fun of digimon has always been different than in pokemon (the comparison to pokemon is, unfortunately, always inevitable when talking about digimon - the two were so closely intertwined in popular culture in america in the late 90s / early 00′s that it’s hard to deny there’s something to connect them)
Pokemon’s about catching them all. Digimon’s about raising a partner. Digimon started as a tamogatchi brand marketed towards boys, with cool monsters you could fight with each other. The fun of digimon has always been seeing your partner(s) grow and become new forms. And that’s where I finally found the fun in Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth.
The fun is in bonding. I found out in my second playthrough how to nickname digimon, and that became my go-to when I would get a new digimon on my team in this playthrough. Every digimon had a nickname. Early on I had a team consisting of Willis, Stinky, Specty, Babby, Evil Babby, Big Bird, Tomato, Axey, and Beedril. Over time, I got to watch these fools grow - Willis from a Terriermon into a Gallantmon CM, Stinky from a Guilmon into a Diaboromon, Specty got fused with someone called Shellby and went from Specty the Patamon to Shellspecty the Cherrymon, Babby fused with Big Bird and the two ended up as an Aeroveedramon, and so on.
The fun of the game was in watching as these monsters I’d bonded with became stronger and changed into new and different forms. And that was the fun of the game for most of the early game for me, and continued throughout the game, mostly.
Ultimately, the game has some weird difficulty spikes at times, especially in some of the sidequests, which feel nearly impossible. I ended up focusing heavily on trying to find all my digimon final forms that had penetrating moves (moves which ignore the enemy’s defense or intelligence when calculating damage), because a lot of the game’s main story bosses are heavily focused on having high defense, and relatively low HP. So, that meant that I couldn’t just use all my favorite digimon. Some just didn’t have what it takes to hold up against certain fights, and I had to move them away from forms I really liked to try to find them stronger forms so I could complete the sidequests. It was still entertaining to play, and did have me continuing to see my digimon grow over time and we bonded, but it also felt a bit lackluster that some favorite mega-level forms just didn’t have what it took to deal with some of the late-game sidequests (at least in hard difficulty, which I played through on - thankfully you can change the difficulty during a playthrough, so I could have dropped it to try to do the sidequests, but I didn’t opt to do that. I just still haven’t beat all the sidequests, instead focusing on the main quest).
Tumblr media
the game doesn’t have a lot of animated cutscenes but those it does have come out strong
The Story
CS’s story is... fine. I think it’s probably a decently good story that’s just told confusingly. And I think there’s a couple reasons for that, but one of the biggest is that the translation is not the best. It’s passable, but it doesn’t always feel like things were translated in a holistic way to the whole game, rather it feels like each line was translated on its own, which leads to things feeling like they don’t all track together naturally at times, and a bunch of mistakes like the Eaters being referred to as Bakemon (a digimon name), because in Japanese they’re referred to sometimes as bakemono, which is just the Japanese word for a monster.
The other big issue I feel I have with the story of CS is that it feels like it’s all over the place, at least early on. Early on in the game, the story starts to set up a lot of different characters and plot threads that don’t seem to really connect with each other until much later in the game. That kind of story can be told well, but in this case, I just feel like the execution left a lot to be desired. For a long time, it felt like I was just playing through a bunch of different unrelated stories rather than a singular story. I’m not sure exactly what would be the right way to implement the idea to help keep the early game’s story interesting, but as it is, it felt a little lackluster.
However, that really only applies to the early game. And the late game, though in a bit of a different way. Around chapter 8 out of 20, the story starts popping off, and the individual stories concerning all the side characters start coming together to reveal the bigger picture of what’s been happening in Tokyo and Eden lately, and what issues that’s leading to in both the real and digital worlds. And from about chapter 8 through 19 or so, it feels really good and strong and there’s a clear singular direction that the story is taking, and every new piece of information seems to feed into the major plot in some way.
And then as you get into the last chapter, things start to feel a little less narratively tied together again. See, yes, the mysteries were building into a singular situation that was threatening both the real and digital worlds, but the game feels like it lacks a narrative throughline, or even multiple narrative throughlines for each major character. It feels like there’s no moral being focused on here, rather, it feels like there’s just a series of events that happen because it would be cool to have them happen. And they were cool. But... to really make a story feel good to me, I feel like there needs to be some sense of a complete narrative moral, and I just didn’t feel that way from this game. The closest I could tell was one line from the ending,
“You will now be the master of your own future.”
But... that feels weak. It didn’t feel like being able to control their own future was much of a theme for any of the main characters, except maybe Arata. And even then, it was a pretty weak theme. (I suppose an argument could be made that the game’s very linear story means your character doesn’t have a lot of freedom from a gameplay perspective, so the gameplay supports you not having control over your future, but... that’s a pretty weak argument.)
So, the story is interesting, but it’s also pretty weak.
Tumblr media
fusion evolution is apparently gay as hell and i love it
The Cyber Sleuthing
There’s not really any actual sleuthing in this game. It’s really just a narrative device to give your character a reason to help out with a variety of random situations. You very rarely, if ever, have to actually solve mysteries/puzzles during your journey. So... not much actual sleuthing. But the greater mystery of the story does get really interesting in the mid game, so I’ll give it that.
Other stuff
Here, I just wanna talk about some other miscellaneous thoughts I have about this game, and then kinda sum it all up.
I loved Persona 5. It was a wonderful game, and such a powerful turn-based JRPG, that it’s influenced my perception of basically every JRPG I’ve played since. And it feels weird to do that. Like I feel like CS is a really decent game taken on its own, but when I’m comparing everything in some way to Persona 5, CS feels like it sucks. Like there are so many aspects where I can see ways to improve upon the game - the translation is lacking, there’s no english dub, combat is fairly smooth but Persona’s combat always feels like it’s a puzzle to be solved but CS’s combat feels like it’s just ‘have the right type digimon in play’, add more social elements to let me grow closer to Yuuko, Nokia, Arata, and other characters.
Tumblr media
There’s this narration near the end of the game to explain how things change after the big final boss battle, and it’s narrated by one of the in-game characters, Nokia. And it’s amazing, because Nokia’s character can be kinda... ditzy, I guess is the right word? So there are parts in that bit of narration where she’s just like “and, you know... stuff changed” or whatever. It’s both funny, and leaves things fairly up to the player to have their own interpretations for what happens with everyone after things are over. There’s some small scenes after that narration that show some of what the main cast has been up to since the events of the final battle, but nothing that gives too much of a clue as to what happened.
----
There is a running gag throughout the whole game about how your mentor character likes experimenting with coffee, making weird blends like adding red bean paste or seaweed to her coffee, and she loves pushing this on other people who often react in horror. But there’s also this really nice scene in the finale where it shows the main character, without Kyoko around, drinking mayo coffee, and I think it’s just cute as heck
Tumblr media
There’s a canon nonbinary character in the game, who complains about being forced to choose between either a male or female avatar when logging into the online system, and I absolutely love that kinda shit <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My favorite status effect is one called Dot, where it converts your digimon into a sprite form and prevents them from using special attacks. And I love when JRPGs add fun unique statuses like this, which make sense within the context of the world
Tumblr media
In Summary
So, to tie it all together, here’s my final thoughts:
I enjoyed my time with Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth a ton. But I’m a fan of digimon and jrpgs. I think the game has its fair share of problems that mean I couldn’t really recommend it to just anyone, but if you like digimon and jrpgs, it’s worth picking up. And the complete edition comes with two games for the price of one, so all the better.
