Should I make an ao3 acc that's only purpose is bookmarking the fics that are actually about Chaggie so people would have an easier time finding them 🤔 ? Since I go through the tag at least once a day anyways lol. But within bookmarks, you can't sort by word count/kudos, etc. ...
I also thought about doing a rec blog here on tumblr but that would be less efficient imo.
I just think a lot of people are held back/thrown off by the tag being so clogged with fics of other ships where Chaggie in only a background pairing, which is a shame because there are so many amazing fics out there that get overlooked because of that.
Filtering by F/F only is not perfect either because Chaggie fics can have side pairs tagged as well.

Appearance
Booklyn is a green book with dark green on the spine and corners of the cover, the pages inside her are white with a little red bookmark poking out of them. Her outfit consists of a white long-sleeved blouse, a light green sweater vest, a brown pleated skirt, and brown flats. Her limbs are also the same shade of green as her head. She also wears a pair of red, rectangle glasses.
Personality
As her introduction card implies, Booklyn is a massive bookworm who loves to read and is very intelligent. Often eager to display her knowledge and expertise, and especially her extensive vocabulary. Similar to Brightney, Booklyn likes to use her smarts to help others whenever it’s needed and is quite hardworking.
However, unlike Brightney, Booklyn is more sarcastic and sharp-witted, unafraid to make snarky quips when talking to others. Booklyn is also quite pedantic, as she tends to obsess over little things (such as grammar and spelling errors) and is very “by the book”, becoming upset when things don’t go exactly “by the book”.

Rank: Common Speed: Below Average (17) Attention Span: Very High (4) Detection Range: Average
Twisted Booklyn is a roaming Twisted with a high attention span (the same attention span as an aggroed Twisted Glisten). So it’s best to preserve your stamina, get as far away as you can from her, and hide if she spots you. Otherwise, she has no special abilities to help her much like most of the other common Twisteds.
Twisted Research Trinket: Bookmark Trinket Category: Other Highlights the closest machine in your Toon’s vicinity. Limited to one machine at a time.
Trivia
Booklyn’s name is a play on the name “Brooklyn”, while her middle and last name comes from the Dewey Decimal system that libraries use to sort books via a numbering system.
Brooklyn’s ichor cost, 800, is the number for the Literature classification in the Dewey Decimal system.
Unlike Frankie, Booklyn does not need her glasses to see. But she is farsighted without them.
Booklyn is close friends with Brightney, and is a member of the latter’s book club.
Her introduction card’s description references the Reading Rainbow theme song.
Booklyn’s favorite genre of books are detective and mystery novels, as seen in her dialogues with Rodger and Brightney.

Today I practiced shell stitch, had to redo the swatch several times as the tutorial video didn't specify to always start/end a row with either a single crochet or 3 double crochets. I like the shape much more than the 3 of a granny stitch, it somehow looks more polished. Video tutorials are really helpful but I'm just not yet at a point where the stitches are neat and easy to count and 'spaces' aren't really obvious. Being limited to 45 minute sessions means that it's over right as I'm starting to get into the groove. You know when it starts to seem intuitive?
I've had crochet stitching appear in my dreams so at least you know some of it is getting written to the hard drive. 😁
Fixed a cute red top (beads had been ripped off around the v-neck and I had just the right amount of ric-rac in silver) and I'm wearing that now. Accepting that a wardrobe change is inevitable would be easier if mail order clothes shopping wasn't full of really ugly tops. The moment you're XL in France, which for me was at 16 when I was just curvy not overweight, you're cut off from anything nice. You can get the brown-grey 'taupe' , the leopard print or shapeless sack of business carpet print. 🙃 I really want basics: 95% cotton, some stretch, long torso, v-necks in black white and blue. Seriously considering ebay UK and its import fees for some M&S classics. Maybe even the infamous Shein.
Finally got my bloods done! There was a backlog over the holidays. Must have been a mug full. We're looking for another intestinal opportunist and checking on the anemia and diabetes. The anti-fungal in december did something, I was able to actually taste christmas dinner and that was amazing. The cotton mouth isn't pain but it's been months of eating what feels like cardboard in varying textures. 😑
I've been busy sorting files: dumping stuff in folders instead of naming it properly came back to bite me. I used to have multiple freeware programs for renaming & making thumbnails and they got lost in the windows reinstall or just don't work any more. *Rename Master* is a freeware gem (all sorts of insert, replace and numbering options) . I really need to find a right click to autogenerate thumbnails program again.
Also been sorting out the to-do lists, gradually working down my massive 'keep' notes and bookmarks to create a document of things I'd like to watch, tagged all the 'reading' and 'listening' notes.
I'm putting together just pay postage bundles. $8 for A5 letter size, $30 for a big shoe box kilogram. Less in the EU. Stuff's on the website: the vintage heads, reroots that need paint, a bunch of incomplete imperfect monsters. Just let me know. I can also include fur wigs, glittery stretch fabrics and various small findings.
The plan is to wait for test results and go from there, continue slowly tidying and destashing, try size 46 tops for size, with doll projects to look forward to. Try to stay sane. 😂😘

#MyBluesky #MyYoutube #MyOtherSitesIUse
Got a Bluesky just to see what it was.
Bluepoodle7 (@bluepoodle7.bsky.social) — Bluesky
I wish Bluesky had the save for later drafts, bookmarks, polls, & post analytics soon.
I will be more active on Tumblr but I will look at art on Bluesky but might not be as active.
Bluesky is okay if you are a artist but it feels empty to me. I will just be there to check out the artists then bounce to Tumblr.
I do have a Deviantart and a Fur Affinity with a Discord.
I'm mostly active on Tumblr, here, and Da but will check in on Discord, Bluesky, with Fa lightly since I don't have that many responses back to even go to those site but I do check them.
BeautyChao7 - Hobbyist, Traditional Artist | DeviantArt
Artwork Gallery for Beautychao7 -- Fur Affinity [dot] net
Bluepoodle - YouTube
Bluepoodle7 (@bluepoodle7) / X
I'm not leaving Twitter/X since I have a lot of Illbleed obscure stuff on here unless Bluesky updates with drafts that I can save my ideas on then I might once I save everything but most of my info is on Tumblr like Zable Fable lore, obscure Illbleed stuff I find, and oc's.
Also Bluesky seems pretty boring unless the website gets a huge update and feels more like a non toxic twitter.
I wish I had more interactions on Bluesky since it's pretty quiet on my end.
I wonder does Bluesky have a limit feature like Twitter does?
I know this limit feature on Twitter will be it's downfall but just imagine if Youtube or Google had limits on how many videos you look at or how many times you search.
That will make people leave the Twitter site quicker.
I only stay on Twitter to see art from artist I like, rare Illbleed info, nature stuff, food images, obscure stuff like shows or games, and merch I'm interested in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My Twitter/X rant with removed or badly added features.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Twitter/ X randomly removing the post analytics on comments is silly and it was working fine yesterday.
That's like Youtube not telling a popular youtuber or streamer how many views they have on their video and that's going to turn people away from this site quicker.
My guess is the next thing they remove is the bookmarks, the save posts, and the quote tweets or whatever these are called now to make the site so unusable for the free side of Twitter/X.
I hope a competitor appears to give Twitter/X a challenge.
I wouldn't be surprised if Twitter/X would get rid of the "You’re unable to view this Post because this account owner limits who can view their Posts."
Kind of similar to the whole your blocked thing not working right.
I guess the post analytics are for the rich to see and that's bad.
I wonder how many people left Twitter after seeing the post analytics retry "glitch" that wasn't there yesterday?
I hope Bluesky updates with a post analytics for everyone instead of people paying to see it.
I imagine if people talk about the post analytics to make it trend on Twitter with memes making fun of it then that might bring it back.
Also now Twitter is copying Bluesky since they don't have a post analytics for anyone either.
I just want to see the numbers on my post.
I have a feeling someone is just going to change the code on their website so everyone can see their post analytics again or just make a separate website that you put your url or @ username to check it from there.
If you are good at coding or making websites then a job is there.
We were close and I found a old random website on Youtube shorts and it doesn't work anymore but if I was good at coding while rich I would buy this site then update it to work.
Simple, Free Twitter Analytics – TweetDeets
Free and Quick Twitter Analytics for Any Public Account with TweetDeets - YouTube
I wonder if there was a site update message for Twitter/X that explains why the post analytics don't work no matter how much you press the retry button?
Also have a post on this site that explains why the post analytics is now behind a paywall like it's DLC or something.
This site keeps slowly removing things or adding things to make the site worse on purpose and at this point I have a feeling the only ones left on this site are either bots or the straggler people who pay the piper until those people can't afford this site anymore then leave.
I know the future of this site is numbered if a competitor appeared out of the blue that is a better version of this site.
But to remove the post analytics without warning with a retry button that is broken that drives people mad is beyond nasty.
I wonder if you can sue since this site never told users about the post analytics change that randomly happened to free users without any customer service helping to answer that question?
I mean I had to look up to see what was happening.
I mean without looking at the post analytics this site isn't as special anymore and now it's just like any other site without analytics that made this site stand out but now feel empty to me.
The post analytics to me made me feel excited to post silly memes or stuff I found interesting and to see the feedback in real time plus it kept me on this website more.
But seems empty without it now like I'm screaming into a void.
And don't get me started on the limits when scrolling and posting on this site that you need to add your phone number is criminal and I never seen such a weird request on a website in my life.
I know no one will ever comment on this or see this but if you do that would be cool.
I can't wait so see how this website's ending will be like and I guess it will be similar to past sites or business I have seen the history of who made big changes that made them not exist anymore due to greed or bad business decisions maybe sell to another buyer.
I wonder if this site will end with a bang or with a whimper?
Only time will tell.
I have a feeling the next feature removed for free users is going to be the lock feature like the tweets are protected will be only for paying members on this site.
Same with the "This account has its posts protected. Only their followers can read them." will be for the rich.
Update I can see the analytics now at 12/27/2024.

You read every gojohime fic???? That's amazing!!! What are your favourites?
hello anonie! i guess i can say i’ve read at least a good 80% of all the fics, at least. probably. most likely because the fic tag at the start of the year was tiny and now the community’s grown so much there’s almost 600 of them. that’s insane to me. like hello?
i have a lotta fics that come to mind, that i should honestly make a master post on because i love them all. so here are a few many that came to mind immediately as i typed this up.
gojohime fic recommendations!

limitations by ohmytheon
“Parenthood chooses you," her mother used to tell her, but Utahime never understood that saying more than the moment she realized she was pregnant with Gojo Satoru's child. They were never meant to be something serious - never meant to be more than they were - and yet they both suddenly find themselves in a world that doesn't care about their desires - and that brings them closer in a way that no one else can understand. It won't be easy and it won't be kind to either of them, but it appears as if the universe has other plans for them
no one is what they were before by ohmytheon
The world broke when Gojo Satoru turned on jujutsu society. It's not the hopeful place it was before, but Utahime has never been one to give up. Until she's placed in a dangerous position directly in his path, and she finds herself trapped in a web that doesn't seem intent on ever letting her go.
and touch me like you never by ohmytheon
In public, Gojo is a special grade bastard, especially to Utahime, and has been all their lives. He knows exactly what insults to throw and what buttons to push to drive her up a wall. In private, however, he's got quite a few other things to tell and show her, which only makes things more confusing. It would be easier if she could avoid him entirely, but for some reason, he won't let her go entirely.
gravity by aerfei
This is Utahime, fierce and indomitable, and this is Satoru, who despite holding the world’s regard, still craves something that Utahime has had all her life. Coming together is sometimes an act of desperation, and sometimes a deliberate choice. Or: An Iori Utahime character study, through the lens of her relationship with Gojo Satoru, starting from the beginning and ending at the Goodwill Event arc. Manga spoilers and (at least 95%) canon-compliant through (at least) chapter 135.

At 28, Satoru Gojo's responsibilities only start to multiply. With his clan looking to him to lead the family, and the balance of the universe in his hands, Gojo isn't thinking of much else. But when his mother brings something to his attention, the only thing Gojo can do is follow through. But how is Utahime Iori part of all of this?
gojo catoru by ashittywriter
Utahime is tasked to catsit a suspiciously large Persian dollface cat with pristine white hair, the most boop-able nose, and to top it off the cutest cerulean eyes. Too bad the cat also happens to be her idiotic colleague Gojo Satoru.
at the tail-end of spring by florieneofthesea
Utahime doesn't expect to remember her ex's number off by heart but it comes in handy when she's a little less than sober outside a club in a city she's not familiar with and her battery on three percent. She just wishes things turned out differently for them. (Or, post-break up exploration where outer forces refuse to let them have their happy ending.)
a second chance by onewordmore
In another world, it wasn't Geto who sneered down at humanity, regarding them to be worthless monkeys that deserved to die. In another world, it wasn't Geto who openly defied the Jujutsu Council and brought down terror and fear to all. In another world, it wasn't just Amanai Riko who died that day, amidst the cheers and delighted cries of the insane. And Utahime was going to learn, first hand, the consequences of her own death.

A drabble series regarding Gojo and Utahime. From fluff to smut to angst to love. This is going to have it all.

It takes a little alcohol, early morning hours, and a game of truth or dare for Gojo and Utahime to admit some difficult truths to each other.

At the start of winter, Utahime starts to cough up blood. She thinks maybe its just the lingering damage from her last mission, but the coughing persists and it starts to scratch her throat, and itch at her lungs and when she finally makes the trip to Tokyo to ask Shoko for her help, she doesn't even get the first word out. Shoko welcomes her at the entrance to Tokyo Metropolitan Technical School and Utahime hacks up a single, pale blue petal, smattered with blood. She stares down at the flora on the ground and wonders if she's been cursed. Utahime looks up, and Shoko's eyes are wide.

“Aha!” Gojo tugged something out of his pocket, his long fingers curled around it as he held his hand behind his back. His other hand waved before him, a cheeky grin splitting his lips. “Ora, ora! Hold out your hand. Utahime stared flatly. “Ora, ora!” Gojo persisted, continuing to wave his hand as he grinned. “Hold out your hand already!” Utahime scowled at the hand swaying infront of her face. She had half a mind to slap the man instead, but her students were closely watching. Even Gojo’s students, the second years mainly—for Sukuna’s vessel was apologizing profusely as the brown haired girl continued kicking him while the quiet one made no effort to stop her— looked in fascination at whatever ridiculous souvenir Gojo wanted to hand her. Utahime slowly lifted her arm, already planning on throwing the thing back in Gojo’s annoying face. Gojo gets Utahime a very special kind of souvenir. Set during the start of the Goodwill arc.

MUNK'S (simple) CRASH COURSE TO BOOKMARKS ON AO3
So, a recent discussion alerted me to the fact that not everyone knows that you can bookmark on ao3 or how, so here’s another ao3 crash course for this useful function!
Picture this; you’ve read a fantastic story and you want to save it somehow so you can revisit it over and over. Alternately, you are reading an unfinished fic and (like me) despise emails and would like a way other than subscribing to check on those sweet WIPs. That’s where bookmarks come in!
(i browsed ao3 in light mode for this. appreciate this sacrifice)
Tumblr media
Self-explanatory perhaps, but clicking the bookmarks button at the bottom of a fic brings up this menu:
Tumblr media
This is where the fun begins (now this is bookmarking!)
The notes section is where you can write a little blurb to yourself about the fic. Want to jot down your thoughts? Want to make a note of it being unfinished so you remember to revisit? This is where that can be done.
Underneath that comes your tags — extremely useful once your bookmarks hit the 100+ amount! You can tag it with fandoms, tropes, anything that’ll help you sort those bookmarks out. Simply type up a tag and either press enter or comma once you're done and watch that beautiful sorting system take shape.
Unfinished, hurt/comfort, oneshot,fandom Y — for example.
For the sake of simplicity I’ll be skipping the add to collections, since that’s not often done and most authors have toggled so that they have to give permission for the work to be collected, whereas bookmarks can be done on all fics.
Tumblr media
The last toggle is one of the most important features of bookmarks! If you click Private Bookmark, it’ll be hidden on your profile and while the author can see the number of bookmarks in their stats, they won’t actually be able to see who has bookmarked if it's marked private. This also hides your commentary in the notes as well as your tags.
If you instead toggle Rec or simply none of those boxes at all, then the author as well as anyone visiting your profile will see it listed among your bookmarks. While I’m not here to decide for you what the right etiquette is when it comes to criticism in bookmarks, adding ratings for yourself or such things — keep that in mind. Be kind and remember, authors are people who do this for the love the given fandom.
Rec marks the bookmark with a heart in your profile and shows it off as a work you recommend to everyone.
Once you’re done with as much or little customization as you like, we hit create!
Tumblr media
yippeeeee
Within a few minutes it’ll appear on your profile.
Tumblr media
(nice)
Here you’ll find a full list of all your bookmarks, both private and public and recommended.
Tumblr media
Screenshotted from ao3’s own symbols key, this is an easy way to determine if your bookmark is public or not.
Once in your bookmark list you can use the search as you would when looking for other ao3 fics (i’ve made a crash course to searching here) and you can even include or exclude your own tags, making it easy to find and check on those unfinished fics, or perhaps locate that hurt/comfort you read ages back and vaguely remember bookmarking… It’s a brilliant way to sort fics you’ve read and enjoyed, as well as keep little notes about how the fic made you feel, the thoughts on the new chapters — the sky’s your limit!
Tumblr media
If you discover that guilty pleasure fic you don’t want everyone else to know you read and enjoyed is public on your profile, then simply hit the edit and mark the bookmark as private. You can also add/delete tags, update your notes and so on.
Hopefully this enlightened you somewhat on the bookmarks function, happy reading!

Your Handy Guide to AO3 Searching and Filtering
In the spirit of YKINMKBYKIOK (aka let other people have fun and stop complaining that they exist, jeez), and also because I am a Nerd and will apparently do my actual literal job for free if it involves fandom in any way: How To Find Fics on AO3
There are two basic ways to go about this: searching and filtering. In this age of Google we're all kind of used to searching, but Google's search engine is...special, and also not really how a well-constructed database search works. There's a lot of reasons for this, many of which involve "the unstructured chaos that is the Internet at large" and "Google's secret algorithm which we will never understand," but tl;dr you've probably noticed that searching for a specific fic or type of fic on AO3 doesn't always return the results you expected. There are ways to make it work, but I vastly prefer filtering to find fics I want to read.
Tumblr media
First off: I usually have something to start with, most of the time it's a fandom. There are a bunch of ways to find your starting tag; usually, to be honest, I'm bouncing off of a direct link to a fic. If you're starting from AO3's homepage, though, you can use the tag search - the plain search box in the upper right won't do it for you, usually. Hit the search tab, pick tag search, and search for canonical fandom tags. 99 times out of a hundred that'll get you your fandom.
Tumblr media
Now if you're looking for a specific character or pairing you could browse the resulting page, the one that gives you all the child tags (those would be tags that only apply to this fandom, usually but not always characters) and relationship tags. If your fave is rarer, this is a good place to start. Otherwise, click that Works button up on the top right.
Tumblr media
Now you've got the page you're probably used to: your fandom's tag, newest works at the top. If you like to start your fic-reading from AO3's homepage, there's a handy Favorite Tag button up in the top right; if you click that it'll show up on your homepage for you and you can always and easily check the newest fics. But if you're reading this you're probably looking to do something more complicated than just read whatever was posted most recently, right? This is where the magic Sort and Filter option comes in.
Tumblr media
Let's start with Include.
Tumblr media
This is where you'll get your basic preferences nailed down: how much adult content do you want to see? Do you have strong opinions about any of the official archive warnings? Do you want a ship, or gen, and if you want a ship do you want het or slash or femmeslash or lots of ships or whatever this fandom might have decided "other" means (usually it's tentacles)? Click the checkbox for whatever you want to include. EXCEPT. Keep in mind that the checkboxes work as an AND search, not an OR - that is, if you check both "M/M" and "F/F," you'll get only works that have both M/M and F/F pairings. Anything that’s just M/M won't show up, and vice versa. If you have multiple categories and you'd be okay with fics that match only one of those criteria, hold onto that thought for a while. (If, on the other hand, you only want fics with graphic violence and character death, this is where you'd go.)
Tumblr media
Now you could just keep moving on, but I like to click Sort and Filter at this point, because the options it gives you in the next section are sorted by popularity, and sometimes you'll get more of the options you want when you set your base preferences. The screenshot on the left is the Fandoms, Characters, and Relationships filters with no other preferences set; the one on the right is with them set to Rating: Teen, No Archive Warnings Apply, and Multi. You'll see that some of those crossovers have dropped out, the characters have shuffled a bit, and several pairings are just gone.
From here, with these kind of numbers, I'd probably just pick one tag I'm interested in - do I want jonmartin fic, or Jon fic of any description, or oooh, hey, Sasha/Tim - select that checkbox, and go from there. But if you want something really specific, like only jonmartin fic in which Daisy appears, go for it. You don't have to change any of your earlier selections, just click those checkboxes and click Sort and Filter again.
Tumblr media
Huh, that's genuinely more fics than I expected.
Tumblr media
Now, if instead of having something specific you know you want, there's something specific you know you DON'T want, you have the next section: Exclude. This is relatively new, and it's magic. Don't wanna see Explicit fic? Banish it. Never want to read Major Character Death? Boom. Tired of Jon and only want fics where he doesn't appear? You can do that, too. These checkboxes do work on an OR search, which means you can check as many as you want, and if a fic matches any of the checkboxes you ticked, it won't show up in your search. If there's a pairing or a character you just cannot stand, you can exclude them, click Sort and Filter, and bookmark the resulting page. You'll see every new fic posted to the fandom tag except for the ones that include the thing you've already decided you don't want to see - you can just pretend it doesn't exist. It's wonderful.
Tumblr media
There are some more neat options down at the bottom - got strong pro or con opinions about crossovers, or unfinished works? Got a few hours to kill and want something 10k+ to keep you busy? Hoping there's something written in your native language that isn't English? These options also exist, and they stack with the other filters as well, so you can filter only by crossover status or by rating and wordcount or by language and pairing, however you choose to combine them. (My favorite combo is Complete works only, wordcount from 10k (leave "to" blank if you don't need to set a higher limit), and exclude the fandom's most popular pairing. There's some good shit in that search in pretty much any fandom.)
Tumblr media
Don't forget the sort! You don't have to see newest fics first; if you're still getting caught up on the canon, you can sort by oldest first and be careful never to read past the date you're caught up to. You can sort by word count to get the longest fics first or the shortest, by hits to see what people read the most, by kudos to see what the most people liked, by comments to see what gets the most interaction, by bookmarks to see...honestly I'm not sure what bookmarks indicate, but you can sort by them. Also by title and author, if you prefer an alphabetical organization for whatever reason.
Unfortunately there's not a good way to clear the filters, so if you change your mind about what you're looking for, you will have to go back and un-check the boxes you've selected before you do another search. Or you can just click on the fandom tag under the first fic in your results list; that will take you back to the main tag with no filters on it, which is what I usually do.
And there you have it: AO3's excellently curated filters, which allow you to curate your fandom experience. If that still isn't enough for you, there are some browser extensions you may want to look into (ao3 savior for tampermonkey; AO3rdr) that let you do even more customization, but those are tricky to use on mobile or if you're switching between multiple devices, so I prefer to rely mostly on AO3's built in tools.
If any of this isn't clear to you I am happy to answer questions! Note that I have nothing to do with AO3 personally other than having been a loyal user for 13+ years now, I'm just a librarian and a nerd for good organizational systems. And goddammit, AO3 is amazing.

So having identified that I need to change a bunch of habits, here’s what I’ve done. personal accountability check in yay.
Exercise: no abdominal work just dorsal stretches, added a steep-ish small hill to my walk instead of two walks to work my hips more. Made peace with the grumpy man on the hill who hates dogs by telling him he’s totally right, it is disgusting (he is fr totally in his right to be upset, people are terrible at cleaning up after their dogs and several just roam free) and showing him that I don’t just pick up my dog’s but other people’s dog turds.
Will test 1 leg at a time abdominal work early May and if the pain causes the whole back seizing, we move it to June, etc...
Ergonomic computer use: I got out of the habit of typing due to a need for speed, especially in french with all the accents on the top and side and I’d like to stop pecking at the keyboard until it becomes the default. Can’t hide the keys as i peck from memory. just gotta keep catching myself and switching back into f j position.
Treats: new dolls that need TLC are out of the question and I’ve done a decent job at saying No to cool dolls that would “just need...” but that’s not enough. I’ve saved my ebay and aliexpress bookmarks to separate google notes and archived them and removed most from my browser. Same with amazon warehouse and leboncoin. There are a couple of Monster High I’d like to find and de-glue (& possibly de-stain this summer) but only if they appear at reasonable prices. I’m going to switch focus to making sure everyone is dressed and nicely displayed.
This does leave a void where the dopamine of new arrivals and projects was and that’s something to further ponder. Having things to look forward to is good for my mental health. The surprise element and “oh remember that doll” element of ebay thrifting was good too. Can’t be craft materials, I have what I need in makeup, don’t wear jewellery as I tend to swell and de-swell during the day and get irritated around the neck. sugar is not an option. local supermarket is very limited with new tastes to try. I’ll figure something out - It’ll probably be in the middle of the night after a day of brainstorming and being stumped!
Projects: I’ve decided to part with 4 more: Myscene Westley Tshirt, Barbie fashionistas greek, Barbie Grace fashionistas, Barbie Mbili blue brocade fashionistas
Tumblr media
Getting stuff out of the house has proven more difficult, very low traffic on ebay france so it’ll probably be heads only, tracked bubble envelopes worldwide via instagram then ebay dot com when I can get that organized.
Part of that is reluctance (and reluctance to deal with the nail-biting drama of postage) but I’ve been really quite wiped by pain and the extra exertion.
Entertainment: dolltube didn’t yield much so far, I like retrospectives but that doesn’t happen often. I need to venture more into the doll crafting that’s entertaining vs crafting that makes me sad I can’t do it if that makes sense? Think Bobby Finger’s incredible diorama story videos. Also looking into documentaries that aren’t downers like How Things Are Made and upcycling stuff.
Find EU rerooters: not done but I have closed my commissions page and wiped all the numbers.
Make friends: well I got myself in some drama but I am trying to resist the strong urges to go hermit-mode, still deleting posts before I press send but eventually we’ll get there. Trying to connect with more french doll collectors. Shoot I have two messages to french ladies about rerooting I need to reply to and chickened out.
Sort damaged or too baggy clothes: still too soon. I managed 1 pair of super pilled and worn trousers. I think i’ll have perspective on the jumpers as soon as it’s hot and they don’t look so cosy with memories of being soft and warm.

Hi!! I don’t really understand how all these event thingies work? Bangs, reverse bangs, zines, challenges etc. Could you explain them for me, please? 😅 Thanks!!
Hey there nony! That is a really great question! I would be more than happy to explain all the different events for you! I will even provide some example blogs you can look at too for reference (please note, not all of the example blogs will be active or current events/challenges).
Hold onto your ice skates because this is gonna be a long one. As such, I will put the explanations below the cut 💕
So I will begin with Challenges as they seemed to be the easiest to explain:
Challenges 📝
Challenges are generally based on Writing or Art prompts. These events challenge participants to create something based on a series of prompts for a certain number of days/weeks/etc. These types of challenges will most often be art-based, but not always.
For example: The most well-known event that would fall into the ‘challenges’ category would be Inktober. Although this event isn’t specific to Yuri!!! on Ice, it’s a good example to use. Inktober provides participants with a list of 31 prompts that an artist can use to guide their drawing ideas. Artists are challenged to post one ink drawing a day for 31 days based on these ideas. Even some writers use inktober prompts to create spooky stories every day for 31 days.
Applications or sign-ups are not typically required for these types of events.
Here are a few posts to check out with different Yuri!!! on Ice challenges:
100 Days of Makka Challenge, Pochatober 2019
Event Weeks 🎉
In the Yuri!!! on Ice fandom, event weeks seem to be the most popular (and generally the easiest to run). Event weeks (sometimes called theme weeks) as the name suggests, are generally week-long events that are often based on a specific theme. These themes can range from week-long birthday celebrations for a specific character, to holiday themes, or even more unique topics like fantasy weeks and ship weeks. Honestly, the sky is the limit when it comes to choosing a specific theme. I’ve seen a whole collection of crazy and interesting theme weeks in this fandom!
Anyways, once the event theme has been decided blog moderators will also provide participants with prompts or suggestions that span across seven days to help guide the creative process.
For Example: In October I was a co-moderator for a Spooky Week Event (A Halloween themed event) that ran from October 25 - October 31. For each day we had two ‘prompt suggestions’ to help inspire people. On the first day of the event, our prompts were ‘Zombies and Monsters’ and ‘Haunted’. For day Two, our prompts were ‘Devil and Demons’ and “Autumn’. Then that pattern continued over seven days.
Once the prompts have been released, creators will have a certain about of time to create something based on the daily themes. Then, once the event week starts, participants can start posting and sharing their creations.
Sometimes, event weeks will have a day called a ‘free day’ which means participants can create something based on anything that falls within the scope of the theme set for the event.
Applications or sign-ups are not typically required for these types of events.
Here are a few event week blogs to check out:
@yoirarepairweek (Upcoming in January), @yoitrainingweek, @yuuriweek2019
Gift Exchange/Secret Gift Exchange 🎁
Gift Exchanges are when participants create artwork or written fanfiction based upon prompts or ideas suggested by another participant.
When signing up for this type of event, you are generally asked to submit one or more prompts or suggestions based on a theme or pairing you enjoy and would like to receive as a gift from another participant.
For example: Let’s say I am a big fan of Victor Nikiforov/Katsuki Yuuri Super Hero AU’s (One of my not so secret weaknesses). I could ask for my giftee to create something based on that idea (and you can certainly add more details than this). Then, whoever receives your prompts/ideas would then create something (typically art or written works) based on what you have suggested.
It’s also important to note that when participating in these events, you are also expected to create something for another person based on the prompts/ideas that you receive from them.
More often than not, these events are Secret Gift Exchanges, meaning that no one knows who their giftee is until the set day when everyone is allowed to reveal/post their gifts.
Here are a few gift exchange blogs for you to check out:
@victuurisummerloving, @yoisecretskater, @yurionice-secretsanta
Bangs 📝🎨
Bangs are traditionally challenges that require authors to write a story that is 50,000 words or more within a set amount of time. HOWEVER, most bangs these days, host much smaller challenges that generally only require around 10k or 15k words per author (and sometimes even less depending on the event)
Then, once these stories have been partly, or fully written, artists will have the opportunity to review the written stories or a summary of the story. They can then decide which one they would like to create artwork for (this is often called the claims or claiming period).
Once the claims have been completed, authors and artists can converse (if desired) about the artwork that will be created for the story. Writers can often suggest to the artists which scenes they would like to see drawn, but it is up to the artist to make the final decision on what scenes actually are created.
Then, on a specific day, artists and writers will be able to post and reveal their works online.
These events can also be called Big Bangs or Mini Bangs at the discretion of the event moderators
Here are a few bangs blogs to check out:
@bigbangonice,  @otayuribigbang, @viktuuriangstbang
Reverse Bangs 🔁🎨📝
Reverse Bangs, as the name would suggest, are the opposite of Bangs. For these events, artists create their work first instead of authors. Then, once their artwork has been created, authors can view the artwork and decide which piece they would like to write a story for.
Once the art claiming period has ended, Artist and Writers can collaborate (if desired) regarding the creation of the written portion of the piece. Sometimes, (if desired) artists will even create additional pieces for a story based on what the author writes.
Then, on a specific day, artists and writers will be able to post and reveal their works online.
* Sadly, I don’t have any Yuri!!! on Ice blogs to recommend looking at regarding this particular category. The only Reverse Bang I found in this fandom seems to have occurred in 2017 and the main blog appears to no longer exist (I can provide example blogs from other fandoms though if desired, just send me a message and let me know).
Zines 📚
Now, while I don’t necessarily reblog Zine events on this page, I am more than happy to explain what they are and how they work!
The term Zine, which is apparently pronounced zeen -like magazine- comes from the term Fanzine (I’ve been pronouncing it wrong this whole time, whoops). Zines can be created by a single person or by a group of artists, writers (and sometimes cosplayers) who come together to create content for an independent or self-published booklet.
Zines are often theme-based (i.e. Fairytale themed or centered on a specific ship) and all the content created for the zine is based around said theme.
In order to participate in these events, interested parties will submit an application containing examples of their works. Once applications close, moderators will review the submissions and decide which applicants will be participating.***
Once Zines are completed, they are put online for fans to purchase. Some Zines are digital-only, meaning that only PDF versions are sold. Other Zines sell physical printed books and even merchandise items (such as pins, keychains, bookmarks, etc).
Depending on the moderators, some zines donate all the prophets made on sales to a preselected charity while other zines split any money made between all the creators. Most Zines, however, either do a combination of both (donate half the proceeds and split the remaining money between contributors if there is enough) or simply donate everything to a specific charity.
Zines are incredibly fun events, but I would definitely say that they are the most time-consuming.
*** Sometimes, when Zines are online-only (PDF versions), all applicants are accepted. If a Zine is going to be physically printed, moderators tend to limit the number of participants to keep both the production costs and the sale prices low.
Here are a few Zine blogs for you to check out:
@yoidreadfulzine (applications still open), @onceuponayoi, @phichimettizine
Again, I do apologize for the length of this post but I hope I was able to answer all of your questions nony!! I tried to include everything, even the ones not mentioned, but please let me know if I left anything out that you would like to know about! (If anyone sees anything that seems incorrect/inaccurate, please let me know)
I will also create a new page on my blog explaining all of the above again so it will be easy for everyone to find in the future!

Habits That Make Life Worse
Habits That Make Life Worse
Each of us performs automatic actions, which hinder be truly productive and relax.
These are actions that we do without hesitation. They consist of our habits, impulses and routine. We’ll talk about how this behavior harms your productivity and how you can fix it and control it.
Habits That Make Life Worse
Tumblr media
Habits That Make Life Worse
You respond to messages in instant messengers and SMS immediately
Online communication assumes that you are always available to everyone. And for most of us, this is already default behavior. Even in the case when you receive a message that does not require an instant response, you still feel that you must reply immediately. The habit of instantly responding to all messages does not allow you to be truly productive. To get rid of the default behavior, you must set the wait time. Most people do not discuss or set a time frame for receiving an answer.
What is more important – SMS or a message in Telegram? Is it really necessary to respond to work chat messages immediately? Change notification settings at least in instant messengers. You can mute the sound in certain chats and get rid of the constant pop-ups. This will help you to be sure that you will not be delayed by the next discussion of any issue at a time when you do not want it. At the time when you are trying to be productive and doing something.
Your inbox is always open – Habits That Make Life Worse
When you see how the number of letters in a mailbox grows, you are surely drawn to cleaning mail and reading the necessary. Responding to emails is a productive business. At least that’s what it is. But if you look into the eyes of the truth, such behavior (again default) does not allow you to perform important work well. Email checking is almost never one of the most important things on a to-do list. Take the habit of picking up your mailbox in batches, instead of forever tracking incoming emails. Allocate a certain period of time during the day to check mail and send replies, if necessary. This will help maintain a good concentration at work and increase your productivity.
Monitor social networks throughout the day
Probably, many decided for themselves that spending time on social networks is a waste of time. Well, unless you do the work there. However, understanding the time wasted does not prevent people from constantly entering them and checking for updates. After all, I want to keep abreast of news, see new memes, like the new ava of a beautiful girl from bookmarks. Even when they are not open with you constantly, you look through them throughout the day.
And of course, in the morning you have it instead of breakfast. It is worth considering how the default behavior on social networks fits into the framework of your life values. Is it really so important to be on the topic of memology? Will you suffer if you see new photos of a friend later than everyone else? We believe not. You have things to do at home and at work, which are much more important than these little things.
By changing your angle of view, you gain a starting point in order to change the default behavior. Put core values at the forefront – and you can leave applications unattended throughout the day. If you have any difficulties, install the application with a time limit spent on social networks.
Leaving a bunch of open tabs – Habits That Make Life Worse
There are so many tabs that it is already impossible to click on them with the tip of the mouse cursor, and somehow they have become a new list of your affairs. Instead of doing what you need, you leave it for later, and then again for later, and in the end you have a bunch of tabs in which you can get lost. A huge number of tabs negatively affects performance: you not only have to look for the desired tab, but there is also a risk of being distracted and sticking to something. Clean during the day. Do you clean the table after having breakfast? Here you need to do the same. You need to clear the workspace, including open tabs that are no longer needed.
You have too many productivity apps – Habits That Make Life Worse
If this is about you, it means that you treat productivity with fanaticism. Many helper applications may seem effective and increase productivity, but you can see well-hidden multitasking in this. We do not say that such applications do not help, but to think that each of them by default improves productivity is wrong. Focus only on the tools that are needed to perform specific tasks. And remember that performance is determined by your behavior, not by applications. The point of good performance is that you do the right thing at the right time. And for this, as a rule, not many applications are required. Pay attention to all the installed tools and ask yourself which of them really help you. By sifting, leave only those that you are absolutely sure of.
Tumblr media
Habits That Make Life Worse
You loop in multitasking – Habits That Make Life Worse
We talked about it above. Multitasking is a killer of productivity, that’s a fact. And this is again the default behavior. You check your mail and respond to the message in the messenger, simultaneously correcting errors in the work report. You can’t do this. Show due respect to work, focus on one task. Doing a bunch of things at the same time, like a human multi-hand, you accustom yourself to be distracted. As a result, you will spend more time on tasks, and the results will leave much to be desired. Do you consider your business important? So it deserves your full attention. No need to spray.
You are always in touch, and after hours too
In today’s world, it’s hard to get distracted and unwind, because we constantly feel that we must be in touch at any time. Yes, what do we feel there – we just do not know how to turn off smartphones and the Internet. Because of this, we do not spend time with family and friends fully. One vibration – and you’re on the phone. And if he is silent, then you will definitely begin to monitor social networks.
People who cannot psychologically disconnect from work get tired of it more and cannot find a balance between work and personal life. Set boundaries. You need to understand that your availability for communication at any time is an unhealthy trend. You need to change your behavior and thinking. At the end of the day, turn off all notifications from work chats. Turn off your phone while you are meeting with friends or family. At the end of the day you need to exhale. Think about something else besides work and really rest.

Flying cop gives a flight instructor a speeding ticket, and loses his job in court.
Long story, TL;DR at the end... This is a true story, it happened in Athens County, Ohio in the Summer of 1996.
Athens County is home of Ohio University (Not THE Ohio State University, long story), and is a pretty rural area of south eastern Ohio. Ohio University Airport (UNI) in an uncontrolled, state owned airport about 12 miles south west of the City of Athens and the University proper along highway US-50.
I was an aviation student at the time, working on my Private Pilot's License. One day, one of the flight instructors (I'll call him Dave) comes in and is upset. He'd just been given a ticket(the day before) for driving to 62 mph in a 55 zone, 7 MPH over the limit. The ticket carries a $125 fine, and two points on your license. As a commercial pilot at the time, having points on you drivers license increases aircraft insurance dramatically. In his case, as a relatively new pilot, his insurance rates quadrupled! He tells this story to my instructor, who then begins to laugh and drags him into the planning room where I am working on that days lesson and has me tell him what happened to me yesterday.
I've just done my first solo flight and today my instructor wants me do get more experience flying solo and working the radio. Until now, he had always been in the plane with me and he handled the radio, and in my first solo he noticed I wasn't using it correctly. So for 63 minutes (the glory of logs) I'm flying the traffic pattern of an uncontrolled airport, doing touch-and-go landings, calling every standard leg and turn in the pattern on the unicom. (Unicom-also known as an aeronautical advisory station-is a radio frequency set up for the airport. Pilots self report to the unicom frequency just as they would to a control tower, there is nobody to give or deny permissions, but traffic knows where you are.) It sounds a little like this.
Ohio University traffic, Cessna one-one-zero-zero-uniform is departing, runway two-five, Ohio University.
Now, this part is important to understand later. For those who don't know, runways are numbered by the magnetic compass heading, there aren't 25 different runways at my airport. This airport has a single runway, the end you use is based on prevalent winds, you always take off or land into the wind. One end faces 250 degrees magnetic, the other end faces 70 degrees magnetic, and is Runway 7.
So again, 63 minutes of:
Ohio University, Cessna 1100U is turning cross-wind runway 25, Ohio University. (First left turn after departure) Ohio University, Cessna 1100U is mid-field down-wind runway 25, Ohio University. (parallel leg, mid-field point) Ohio University, Cessna 1100U is turning base leg runway 25, Ohio University. (turning to perpendicular of runway, preparing to land) Ohio University, Cessna 1100U is on final approach for runway 25, Ohio University.(should be self explanatory)
I'm on my last final approach of the day, about 50 or so feet above the ground when I hear a voice on the Unicom I've not heard before say, "Airport unicom, Cessna seven-hotel-papa is final approach runway 7." Now, I'm not going to get into the bad form of what he said or how he didn't address which airport he's calling and that since we're using an AM frequency band that signal could have traveled hundreds of miles.
No, I look up from my expected touchdown point to see a red airplane has already landed on the far end of the runway and is taxing toward me! That's not "final approach", it's "I'm on the ground, please don't hit me!" I'm pissed off. My instructor who's been listening to me on that frequency for over an hour is pissed off. I go around, land on the far runway with the wind which makes landing more difficult for no good reason than because he decided it was closer to him. And now it's time for my first bout of air-rage. Like road-rage with planes. Then we discover that his tail number, Hotel-Papa... stands for Highway Patrol. This is the pilot who gave Dave a ticket.
And that gave Dave an idea. First, he went to court and pled Not-Guilty, this schedules him a proper court date and then he put his case together. Representing himself, Dave first called the officer who physically wrote the ticket to explain that the numbers came from a pilot-officer (I'll call him PO). Fine, we already knew that but now that's in the court record. Now we call PO
Dave: So, how do you know how fast I was traveling? Do you have a radar gun in the plane or...?
PO: No, there are white pre-measured marks on the ground, exactly one mile apart. I use a stop watch to time your travel between these two marks. From this I can calculate exactly how fast you were going.
Dave: And during that time, are you watching me, or the stopwatch?
PO: You.
Dave: The entire time I was between these two marks you are watching me? Nothing else?
PO: Nothing else.
Dave: How long was your shift that day? By that, I mean how long were you flying with your speed enforcement assignment that day?
PO: (looks this up in his log book, which he presumably brought with him because Dave had asked for copies) Almost 4 hours.
Dave: And how many tickets did you write that day?
PO: Ninety-eight
Dave: And I would assume there were other vehicles you checked whom weren't speeding?
PO: Yes, quite a few.
Dave: What percentage of that shift would it be fair to say you spent watching road traffic below you?
PO: I'd say 75-80%
Dave: Your Honor, I would like to enter into evidence this book. It is a current publication of the Federal Aviation Regulations. Officer, please turn to the second bookmark and read the highlighted passage.
PO: Within 10 nautical miles of an uncontrolled airport, all traffic must ... spend more than 55% of their time actively looking for other air traffic.
Dave: ... We'll come back to that. Your honor, I have two more pieces of evidence, these are two photographs of my vehicle, one taken from 1000 feet above the ground (in a parking lot with only 5 other vehicles) , the other taken from a second story window. Officer, please tell us which vehicle in photo one is the same vehicle depicted in photo two.
PO: They all look like dots to me
Dave: Then how did you describe my vehicle to the officer who wrote this ticket on your behalf, if you can't tell them apart at 1000 feet?
PO: Well, for one thing I wasn't flying at 1000 feet, I was flying at 400.
Dave: Please take that book I handed you earlier, turn to the fourth bookmark and read that highlighted passage.
PO: In an incorporated area ... All aircraft must maintain 1000 foot separation from all stationary objects, including the ground. But this wasn't an incorporated area.
Dave: The FAA defines and incorporated area differently than the State of Ohio, but for the sake of argument, read the passage immediately following that highlighted section.
PO: Unincorporated area ... All aircraft must maintain 500 foot separation from all stationary objects, including the ground.
Dave: So you broke that federal law by only 100 feet, not 600 feet... we'll come back to that. How ever you described my vehicle to the other officer, what equipment was used to call down to him?
PO: A hand held police band radio. (he gave the exact make and brand, but I don't remember anymore)
Dave: The Cessna 172 you were flying that day is known for being loud to fly, did you need a headset to use it?
PO(beginning to realize where this might be going): No, I can't use a headset and still listen to the aviation frequencies.
Dave: And what aviation frequency were you listening to?
PO: That would have been the Ohio University Airport Unicom... 123.07 I believe.
Dave: And were you monitoring that frequency, pursuant to federal regulations? Before you answer that, I'd like you to know I have two witnesses in the back of the court room today. A student pilot and his instructor who met you that afternoon. Also, as the university airport is used for flight training and instrument approach and departure training, Huntington Tri-state Airport records the Unicom frequency. I have a copy of that days tape.
PO: I was not.
Dave: Are you aware that's three times now that you've admitted to willingly violate federal regulations? Any one of these regulations could result in the revocation of your Class-1 advanced commercial pilot's license.
PO: I don't have an advanced pilot's license (Because it doesn't exist)
Dave: You don't! Let me see that book, I don't have a book mark for this one! (again, because it doesn't exist. Dave is planning on dropping that line of questioning, giving the appearance that it's because he doesn't feel the need to flip through that large book if he doesn't have to. But before he can, the judge begins to audibly laugh)
At this point the Prosecutor asks to approach, and offers to drop the case and ensures the pilot's misdeeds will be addressed, if Dave agrees not to take these detail to the FAA.
Dave: I won't say another word about this case.
Judge:Case Dismissed
FAA Inspector is sitting next to me in the audience. Dave doesn't have to say another word. Ohio Highway Patrol didn't use aircraft to enforce anything for quite a while after that. This Pilot-Officer had his Commercial Pilots Certificate (The one that did exist) permanently revoked.
TL;DR - Flying cop gives a flight instructor a speeding ticket, and loses his job in court.

Chapter 3: Journey to Despair, Grave Secrets, Grave Lies ~Investigation~
//HOOO BOY, this was a looooong chapter to write. I don’t even wanna say too much because this trial...I feel is gonna be...interesting to write, so I’ll let you guys read and decide what you think for yourself.
//Hope you guys enjoy!
-Chapter 3 Deadly Life, Torture Exhibit-
We all stared silently at the iron maiden. Ishikawa-san was respectful enough to close over the slide that let us see Shinko-san’s face. Frankly, I don’t think I could stomach seeing his final expression. I think we were all trying to figure out how someone was able to do this to him. Not physically but morally. Killing was already bad enough but to use something in the torture exhibit room…
“Man you guys are so mopey whenever you find a body!” Monokuma chided, “give me a little variety! Someone celebrate, this guy was kind of a douchebag, don’t you think?”
“Oi, if you start saying shit like that-“
“You’ll hit me? Go on, big guy! Hit me and see what happens you do!” Monokuma taunted. Okanaya-san let out a shaky breath and stayed put. He was holding back, “Yeah, that’s what I thought you’d do. Anyway, as per usual, I present to you…the Monokuma file! Make sure you read up on what I’ve prepared and have fun…so…I’ll see ya later!” And once again, Monokuma was gone.
“How shall we go about this?” Ishikawa-san asked, “I doubt many people want to see the state of Shinko-sama’s body, however, if I do not perform my autopsy then I fear we may lose vital evidence.”
“Then only people who can stomach the sight should investigate this room. Simple as that.” Sly-san said.
“I suppose…” Ishikawa-san seemed reluctant. I wonder if this is even too much for her to handle, “very well…I will deal with the autopsy once everybody who does not wish to see the state of Shinko-sama has left. There is a tarp in the back of the room I can use to cover him should they wish to come and investigate this room later.”
“That sounds like a good plan.” Kurohiko-san said woozily, “I…I think I’ll just stick to investigating elsewhere though. It’s just…s-so much blood.”
“Mademoiselle Graves, Herr Knives and I are probably the only people who will be able to stomach seeing Herr Shinko’s body. So, one of us should stay behind to watch over the crime scene with Mademoiselle Ishikawa.” Kurosaki-san said.
“I’ll do it. I don’t feel up to walking about this time around.” Sly-san murmured. Kurosaki-san’s gaze lingered on him for a moment before nodding.
“Very well…everyone, let’s do our best for Herr Shinko’s sake. Oui?” There was a silent agreement in the room. Or almost a full agreement. Someone in this room killed Shinko-san…they were going to be working against us.
 Investigation Start!
I opened up the Monokuma file and looked at the information I was provided with this time around. The pink splotches were shown all across Shinko-san’s torso area and legs, though that was to be expected. I scrolled to the next page.
The victim was Toson Shinko, his body was found in the torture exhibit of the history building at 9:24am. The cause of death was multiple stab wounds across the body resulting in blood loss.
No time of death again, so I’m going to have to figure out a timeframe for that…
-
Truth Bullet Added: Monokuma File 3
The victim is Toson Shinko, the cause of death was several stabs wounds across the whole body.
-
“Hmmm…Hmmmmmmm!” Graves-san was nodding to herself as she looked at the iron maiden.
“Wh…what are you doing?” I asked.
“I was just thinking; this thing is probably super heavy right? Then it totally narrows down who the killer could’ve been, right?! This thing is solid metal, so only someone strong could’ve thrown Toson’s body in there and closed the door.” She said. I suppose the thing did look pretty heavy, “also, did you know that even though iron maidens are considered a medieval torture device, there’s no evidence of the iron maidens we know today before the 19th century. Bonkers, right?”
 “Y-yeah. Bonkers.”
 -
New Truth Bullet: Graves-san’s Account
Graves-san believes the killer must have been strong to be able to get someone of Shinko-san's build into the iron maiden.
New Truth Bullet: Iron Maiden
An iron case filled with iron spikes. Shinko-san's body was found inside of it.
-
“Ah, Nagata-kun, could I ask you a favour?” Kurosaki-san approached me all of a sudden.
“A…favour? I’m not sure I like the sound of that coming from you.” I said. That was the moment Kurosaki-san would hit back with a line, but his face remained neutral. I suppose he still feels off with the group’s situation.
“I want you to investigate with me this time around.” He said.
“Oi, what are you up to? If it’s anything suspicious, I’ll kill you.”
“Sly-sama, please.” Ishikawa-san chastised. No, I had to agree. It was strange that, out of everyone, Kurosaki-san would want to investigate with me. Even Ishikawa-san must know that.
“The important thing right now is the truth, non? You’re the only reason we’re still alive right now, so if anybody is going to be able to find out the truth this time around, it’ll be you. I just want to make sure you have all the necessary evidence to piece it all together.” Kurosaki-san explained.
“…you say that, but I’d have probably gotten a lot of things wrong or gotten stuck if it wasn’t for you being there to guide the trial…Kurosaki-san, you’re the reason we’re alive. So, why are you relying on someone like me?”
“I don’t have a lot of people I can trust.” He said coldly.
…I can’t understand what this guy must be going through or have already gone through to be able to speak like that…but, if I can find the truth then I guess I have no choice. “Okay then. I’ll help you out.” I said.
“Then let’s go to the library.”
“Huh? The library? What does that place have to do with Shinko-san’s murder?”
“You’ll understand eventually. Let’s just go.”
 -Chapter 3 Deadly Life, Library-
We stepped into the library- or rather, Kurosaki-san made me follow him there. “Alright, we’re here. What is it you’re wanting to check?” I asked.
“Isn’t it obvious? Take a look.” Kurosaki-san simply gestured to the whole room. Ugh, why can’t he just tell me directly? We’re on a time limit right now…
My eyes scan the room and I notice it. A book laying on the ground underneath one of the tables, blood covering its cover and spine. A white strip of paper was sticking out from the pages. “Is this what you were talking about? What is this book?”
Kurosaki-san walked over and picked up the book. “It’s a book containing past records for Hope’s Peak Academy. The past classes and such, y’know?” The blood left the cover illegible, so Kurosaki-san has probably read it before and recognised it from its design?
“That bookmark…somebody was reading it then.” I said. Kurosaki-san slid the bookmark from the pages and handed it to me. In actuality, it was a card with a bloodstain on the front of it. I opened it up to see what it said, but was greeted with nothing, aside from lines that would be used to write along. “Huh…? What’s with this?”
Kurosaki-san loomed over me, staring at the card. “My best guess…is that it’s a motive card. The blood is covering up the name of whoever this belongs to, but it’s got the exact same layout of my motive card, and it has a Monokuma symbol in each corner.” That was true…
“It’s blank though. There’s no names.”
 “Indeed…how ominous.” Kurosaki-san said.
 -
New Truth Bullet: Bloody Book
A bloody book found in the library. The blood covered the cover and spine and has sealed a number of pages together.
New Truth Bullet: Blank Motive Card
A motive card found as a bookmark in the bloody book. The name is covered up by a bloodstain.
-
I continued my scan of the room and noticed that by the bookshelves that the wooden frame of the shelves was decorated with splotches of blood as well. “Seriously? What happened in here?” Could it be related to Shinko-san’s murder? Either way, I should remember this.
 -
New Truth Bullet: Blood in the library
The frames of the bookshelves in the library seem to have spots of blood on them.
-
“I think that’s all we’ll find in here. For now, we should go to the front entrance. There’s something important to look at there, non?” Kurosaki-san said. Again, he’s leading around the place…
-Chapter 3 Deadly Life, Ground floor-
“Nagata-kun…a-and Kurosaki-kun…?” Ram-…Kirishima-san appeared when we reached the ground floor. “I guess you two are investigating together then. I’m doing my best as well, don’t worry! I’ll definitely find some good evidence.”
 “Yeah, I’m sure.” I nodded.
“Have you found anything so far…?” Kurosaki-san said.
“Actually…i-it’s a little embarrassing but I found something on accident just a minute ago. I dunno if it was me or if it was already like that…b-but one of the windows at the end of the hallway had a loose bar. I almost knocked it completely out of place…” She said. Kirishima-san isn’t heavy either, so it must be really loose.
“Hmm…the windows here aren’t blocked with glass, so the iron bars are a replacement. If you didn’t break it, I wonder why it’s loose…?”
“Not only that! There were some strange scratch marks on the windowsill! Like…if something metal was dragged on the stone.”
“You noticed a few things then. Impressive, Ram-san.” Kurosaki-san said.
 “U-um…actually, it’s Kirishima now…l-long story.” Kirishima-san smiled half-heartedly. Of course, Kurosaki-san wasn’t there when Kirishima-san said that to everybody…
 -
New Truth Bullet: Window Frame
There are scuff marks on the window frame as if something scraped against it
New Truth Bullet: Loose Iron Bar
One of the windows on the ground floor was slightly loose and could be removed easily.
-
“I’m gonna check elsewhere! I wanna make sure I leave no stone unturned in a building like this! If I find anything, I’ll let you know.” Kirishima-san promised before jogging up the stairs.
“She’s become rather determined over time, has she not?” Kurosaki-san said.
“I’m glad. I remember how frail she came across when I met her the first time, so I’m glad she’s been able to get to this point. I think we can really rely on Kirishima-san.”
“Oh~hohoho~? Nagata-kyun, are you perhaps falling for Fraulein?” Kurosaki-san teased.
“E-eh?! N-no way! That’s definitely not it!” I protested. Even if I didn’t like being teased like that, I have to say that I was happy to see the normal Kurosaki-san, even for a second.
Kurosaki-san and I walked to the entrance and I used my ElectroID to exit the building. He stopped when the doors slid shut and turned back to the card reader. “Monokuma! I need you!” He called out.
Within a second, Monokuma appeared from nowhere, “What what what? You wanna start the trial early? I dunno if the others’ll be happy with that!”
“No, it’s not that. This card reader, is there any records on it? If possible, could you provide us with a copy of the records? We’d only really need the records of the last 24 hours.” Kurosaki-san said.
“Ah~ I knew someone like you would ask about it, so I had a copy prepared already…although, the budget is tight for this killing game. This is the only copy I got…so, be nice and share it around! Or don’t!” Monokuma shrugged and vanished, leaving a piece of paper where he was standing.
Kurosaki-san picked up the paper and read through the names. “Oh? No timestamps…” He murmured before handing it to me. “For now, let’s keep the information on this between us. I have my reasons, so please trust in me.”
-
New Truth Bullet: Card Reader Records
The entrance to the history building requires an electroID to open. The log was as follows, from most recent to least recent in the last 24 hours:
"Nagata - Exit"
“Asano – Exit”
"Graves - Enter"
"Yokozawa - Enter"
"Sly - Enter"
"Kurosaki - Enter"
"Okanaya - Enter"
"Kurohiko - Enter"
"Nagata - Enter"
"Kurosaki - Exit"
"Sly - Exit"
"Shinko - Enter"
"Sly - Enter"
"Kurosaki - Enter"
"Graves - Exit"
"Ishikawa - Exit"
"Yokozawa - Exit"
"Kirishima - Exit"
-
Huh? “K…Kurosaki-san, you were in the history building last night?!” I exclaimed.
“Indeed. Though, that shouldn’t be surprise. I told you I was going to be investigating the library as much as I could, and that’s exactly what I was doing during the night.” Kurosaki-san explained.
“But…between the time you entered and left…Shinko-san came to the building as well and it says here that he never left either.” I pointed out. Kurosaki-san folded his arms and hummed under his breath, almost in thought.
“…I’ll probably get accused at the trial. For Herr Shinko’s murder, I mean. However, I did not kill him, okay? I have too much to lose by killing someone. I’ll be counting on you when that time comes.”
Even if he says that, why would he leave his defence to me…? “…if it’s what you want, then I’ll do it…but I’m putting a lot of trust in you. If there’s any doubt in my mind, I’ll accuse you myself. You know that, right?”
Kurosaki-san’s eyes widened. “Oh…you would’ve never been so direct with someone like me if this was the first trial. You’re becoming quite the protégé detective, Nagata-kyun.” Kurosaki-san chuckled. “Well, I knew that already. I’ll be putting my faith in you when the time comes…like I said, let’s keep this information between us for now. Don’t even ask other people their reason for being in the building the last 24 hours.”
 “…alright then.”
“Good. I think this will be where our co-investigation ends. I’ll look elsewhere, so good luck with your end of the investigation, Nagata-kyun.” Kurosaki-san tipped his hat at me and walked off. I need to find more places to investigate…where should I go…?
 -Chapter 3 Deadly Life, Dormitory-
“Asano-san, you decided to come and investigate here too…?” I walked over to her, snapping her out of whatever thought she was in.
“Indeed. I wanted to investigate Shinko-kun’s room seeing as that was why I called upon his search this morning in the first place. Would you like me to show you what I found? I left the door open.” I took her up on the offer and followed her to Shinko-san’s room. A doorstopper was wedged underneath the door.
I took in the sight of Shinko-san’s room. The walls were decorated with numerous movie memorabilia and awards I assume belonged to Shinko-san. A director’s chair was in the corner with Shinko-san’s name on it. I recognised a lot of the items as props used in his short film from the talent show.
“He was a wonder to work with.” Asano-san said, as if reading my mind. “I believe he simply became too scared of dying that he thought shutting himself away was the only way.”
 “Were you two close?”
Asano-san shook her head, “Regrettably, no. I feel as though as I could have done more though…Ishikawa-san and I talked to him that day to try and get him to come back to the group, but…”
 -A Conversation with Toson-
“You’re here to beg me to come back to the group? I’d actually prefer to not be fodder for the rest of you. No, I’ll keep to myself.” Shinko-san said.
“We work best as a group. Staying away from us is not only a hindrance for yourself, it’s a hinderance for everybody. I would actually prefer it if you could stop being selfish and realise this game is more than just you.”
“Ishikawa-san-“
“Hah?! You wanna start preaching about morals in a killing game?! Morals became irrelevant a long time ago, dumbass! We’re in a kill or be killed situation, and like fuck am I being killed off like some stupid side-character!” Shinko-san barked.
“So that’s what we all mean to you? You were almost sentenced to death in both trials thus far and yet you wish to argue that you cannot trust anybody? The efforts of Nagata-sama, Kurosaki-sama and everybody else means nothing?!” Ishikawa-san argued.
“They did it for themselves, not for me. They would’ve had no qualms about voting me as it the killer. And how I can trust someone like Nagata? He’s the reason we’re still in this shitty situation! And you-“ He pointed accusingly at Asano-san, “-you were on Nagata’s side in that debate, so how can I trust you?!”
Asano-san attempted a response though she could only manage stammers.
“I tried to put my trust in this group, but I’m sick of feeling like that trust is just gonna get thrown right back at me. Have fun acting like you’re all friends but leave me out of it.”
 -
 -Present Time-
“And then he slammed the door in our faces…”
Shinko-san was probably scared, by the sound of it. And it’s my fault he separated from the group in the first place…if I hadn’t spoken up like that during the last trial, Shinko-san wouldn’t be dead…
“We all should have done more to make everybody feel safe enough to stick together.” I said.
“Indeed…” Asano-san said. I allowed myself a few moments to be angry at myself before trying to refocus on the investigation at hand.
“A-anyway…I’ve been wondering for a while, but why did you think to check Shinko-san’s room this morning? You just came into the cafeteria and said he was missing without much explanation.” I asked.
“Oh, of course. My apologies for forgetting to explain. When I was making my way to the cafeteria this morning, I noticed Shinko-kun’s door was ajar because of a doorstopper. I found it strange due to our previous encounter and decided I should investigate further. That is when I found out he was not in his room and began my search for him.” Asano-san explained.
“And when you couldn’t find him in this building, you came to the cafeteria and we all split into our groups. So, that doorstopper holding his door open right now is the same one that was holding it open this morning?”
“Correct.” Asano-san nodded. Shinko-san’s room is at the very back of the dorm hallway and Asano-san’s is right across. I suppose she was the only one who would’ve seen it.
-
New Truth Bullet: Asano-san’s Account
She noticed a doorstopper holding Shinko-san's room door opened, when she checked the room she found he wasn't there which is what prompted the search for him.
-
I turned my attention to the bedside table where there was a plate of untouched food sitting. “This is pretty strange as well.” I commented.
“Indeed, I was trying to make heads-or-tails with it. Perhaps the killer ambushed Shinko-kun while he was in his room and he didn’t get a chance to eat this. It’s prepared perfectly, so it must have been for eating right away.” Asano-san concluded. Ambush Shinko-san? Shinko-san seemed like a pretty in-shape guy, so I doubt there were many people who were strong enough to overpower him without leaving any signs of a struggle…
 -
New Truth Bullet: Plate of Food
Plate of untouched food found in Shinko-san's room. Clearly prepared to eat right away.
-
“I think that’s everything in here…that food plate is making me a little suspicious…he wouldn’t come out of his room during the daytime, and the cafeteria shuts at night-time…so he probably got that food from the storage room.” I decided on my next destination.
“I see…I’ll wish you good luck in your search there. I shall continue to look elsewhere, just in case.” Asano-san said.
-Chapter 3 Deadly Life, Storage room-
The storage room was deathly quiet. This was the second time I had to come here for an investigation, and that fact really put my teeth on edge. I began looking around the room to see if anything was out of place and made my way to one of the far-right shelves.
I noticed a rag on the floor in front of the shelf. I picked it up and felt that something had dried onto it. I couldn’t tell what it was as there was no stain, but the material of the rag definitely was soaked in something. I brought it a little closer to my face but-
“Ugh!” I recoiled when I started to feel a little dizzy and ended up dropping the rag…suspicious.
 -
New Truth Bullet: Rag
A rag found on the floor of the storage room. There's an odd substance on it that made me dizzy when I got too close to it
-
I turned my attention to the food shelf it was in front of. None of the boxes seemed too out of place, though, ”A dent?” I murmured, tracing my hand along the dent made in one of the shelves. I don’t remember any of the shelves ever being damaged before.
 “It’s pretty high up, yeah?”
“Uwah!” I jumped, spinning to face whoever the voice belonged to.
“Ack! D-don’t just yell like that, idiot! You nearly gave me a heart attack!” Yokozawa-san growled.
 “S-sorry, you surprised me…”
“I’ve been talking with you this whole time. You sniffed that weird rag even though I said not to.” H-huh?! I didn’t even realise he was there…has he been in the room this whole time, “God, even after all this time, you still don’t notice me when I’m the room with you. Sad.” Even though he says that, he seemed to just shrug it off.
 “S-sorry.”
“Stop saying that.” He chided before turning back to the shelf. He let out a low hum, glancing to me then back to the shelf, “No…probably not.”
 “Huh?”
“Just thinking out loud…this dent was probably because somebody hit it with their elbow.  I was thinking it could’ve been someone short and they hit their head on it, but the shape of the dent is probably more like an elbow did it going down onto the shelf. And with the height of the shelf…both of us are too short to have done it. Person must’ve been…6 foot at least? Yeah, that sounds about right. Though I suppose a short person could have been dropped from above that shelf and hit their elbow on the way down.” Yokozawa-san concluded.
“E-eh?! You were able to tell all that just from a dent?!”
“Being on the internet all the time, you ended up spending your time learning how to do this and that. There was a time I wanted to be an investigator, so something like this is just simple deduction. And it’s definitely new as well. I was here yesterday and there was no dent…”
 “Impressive…” I said.
 -
New Truth Bullet: Dented Shelf
A food shelf that seemed to have been damaged at some point in the last 24 hours. Judging by the dent itself, it was cause by somebody at least 6 foot hitting their elbow on it.
-
“I, uh…I appreciate you telling me all that. J-just because you didn’t have to. You could have kept that information to yourself…”
“Huh? Why are you being weird? It’s pissing me off. If you’re acting like that because of the last trial or because I kept myself in my room, then knock it off! It’s not your fault about the last trial, I get where you were coming from. Even if Hachi-san said they were gonna end the killing game, we couldn’t know for sure…”
 “B-but Shinko-san-“
 “Did you kill him?”
 “Huh…?”
“Did you make someone kill him?”
 “Of course not!”
“Then shut the fuck up and get on with the investigation! I don’t have time for self-pitying bastards like you! We should be focusing on finding Shinko-kun’s killer above all else.” Yokozawa-san said. I twiddled my thumbs like a child getting scolded. Yokozawa-san didn’t make much of an impact when I met him, but his words are pretty sharp and to the point.
“You…actually kind of remind of Shinko-san. He was pretty brutal with his words too.”
“Is that so?” Yokozawa-san fiddled with the sleeves of his hoodie. “I suppose if I’m gonna help you, I should probably say…I actually say Shinko-kun in here the day before yesterday. I have a supply of food in my room, but I ran out after night-time that day, so I came here to get more and then he came in afterwards. It didn’t look like he noticed me…but I just thought I should mention it.”
 “I see…thank you, Yokozawa-san. I appreciate the help.”
 “Yeah, whatever.”
 -
New Truth Bullet: Yokozawa-san’s Account
He met Shinko-san a few days before the murder, going into the storage room. Though Shinko-san didn't notice Yokozawa-san was there.
-
“Good luck on your investigation.” Yokozawa-san murmured as we parted ways.
 -Chapter 3 Deadly Life, Fountain-
“Yo, Nagata!” Okanaya-san called out as I was passing by the fountain. He was walking on the path that led to the leisure building. “How goes the investigation?”
“I’m not sure. I’ve collected a lot of information, but I haven’t taken any time to piece anything together yet. There’s evidence I’ve found, not just in the history building, but also the dormitory.”
 “Ah, the drag marks, yeah…?”
 “Huh?”
“You never noticed?” He gestured me to follow and we headed back towards the dormitory building. We stopped before entering the building and Okanaya-san pointed to the dirt patch between the entrance and the stone path that led to the fountain. “See? There’s marks in the dirt as if something’s been dragged.”
“Ah yeah. I didn’t even notice.” I said.
“…I wish I was more alert last night when we came out here. We might have noticed these and maybe stopped the murder.”
 “Stopped it? How so?”
“You remember that crashing noise last night, and the broken window? I was thinking that it might have actually had something to do with the murder. I’m not sure how, I’m not so good with that stuff, but…it was just a thought. I went to recheck that…and I found this.” Okanaya-san pulled out a scrap of black fabric. “It was hidden in with the rocks. Not sure what it’s from, but…thought it could’a been useful to hold onto.”
“Yeah…good work, Okanaya-kun! This is a lot of good information, I think!” The rocks in the weapons exhibit had been disturbed when I checked on it. I wonder if the rocks came from there…? “That crash as well…do you remember when it happened…?”
“Uh…thinking about the time I got you and Kirishima at…must’ve been somewhere between 1am and 1:30am?”
 -

New Truth Bullet: Broken Window
A window at the side of leisure building that was broken the night of the murder
New Truth Bullet: Crashing Noise
The approximate time of the crashing sound from last night was 1am - 1:30am
-
“…it’s weird that Shinko got killed.” Okanaya-kun said.
 “Huh?”
“Ah, thinking out loud. Probably something I should be saving for the trial…I’ll let you get on with your investigation. I’ve been keeping you too long.” Okanaya-kun nodded before heading off. There’s probably not much time left until the investigation is over, Ishikawa-san should be finished her autopsy by now.
-Chapter 3 Deadly Life, Torture Exhibit (2)-
“Nagata-sama! Have you finished your investigation?” Ishikawa-san asked when I entered the room. A tarp was over the ground, I’m guessing that Shinko-san’s body was underneath it. The iron maiden was luckily closed over again, I don’t think I could stomach seeing the inside of it.
“Just about, I think. I just came to get your autopsy report and see if you guys had anymore information. I’ve collected a lot, but I don’t know how anything fits. It feels all…contradictory.”
“Save it for the trial.” Sly-san said.
“I agree. You wish for my autopsy, correct? Well, it was actually hard to learn anything because of the state of the body. I couldn’t discern the time of the death. The iron maiden is cold so I wasn’t able to make an estimate on the time of death because it would have made Shinko-sama’s body cool faster.”
“I see. What about the injuries themselves?”
“As you’d expect, he had stab wounds across his entire body. However, I believe he was ambushed in some way because there was no sign of a struggle. So…I suppose I could at least tell that much.”
“Even that might prove useful, thanks for your help, Ishikawa-san.”
-
New Truth Bullet: Ishikawa-san’s Autopsy
The time of death was hard to discern. Though there were no signs of struggle across the body.
-
“Sly-san, have you been able to tell anything?”
“Not really. I left the autopsy to Ishikawa and just made sure nobody messed with the crime scene. Though while I was here, I was making a list of the different exhibits in the building. I figured that with how extensive this building is, the killer probably used something in one of the other rooms.”
“I know about the torture exhibit and the weapons exhibit, which show different torture devices and weapons throughout the ages respectively…what about the other ones?”
“Monokuma has a room that’s basically a Darwin Award hall of fame called ‘Worlds Wackiest Deaths’. Not much to it, but the killer might have gotten ideas from there…another is a place that has information all about serious calamities from throughout history, like major wars and such. Calls it his ‘History of Death and Destruction’. Finally ‘Non-Murdery Murder tools’ which is just what it sounds like; a bunch of things that aren’t what usually come to mind when you think about killing someone. Needles, syringes, pillows, a sink was in there, a few chemical stuffs as well. The history exhibits are on the second floor along with the library, whilst that non-murder tools thing is here on the top floor.”
“Huh? But don’t the stairs go up higher?”
“Yeah, to the four towers. Nothing much up there except a catapult, though I doubt the killer launched themselves or Shinko’s body.”
 “A-ah, yeah. That makes sense.”
-

 ~Ding Dong, Bing Bong~
“Alright, I think I’ve given you all way more than enough time to get this all together, so hurry up and head down to the trial grounds! It’s time we get this trial underway!” Monokuma announced.
“Ah, it’s time…” Ishikawa-san frowned, glancing at Shinko-san’s body. “Let us discover the truth.” Ishikawa-san said before leaving the room.
-Chapter 3 Deadly Life, Trial Grounds-
When we all arrived the door for the elevator was already open, awaiting us to step onto it. “He’s raring to go this time around, huh? Stupid bastard, taking so much satisfaction in this.” Okanaya-kun growled.
“We…we should not worry, everyone! We have survived two class trials already, as long as we work together, we can overcome this trial as well!” Asano-san said, though I don’t know if she was trying to convince everyone else, or just herself.
“…Okanaya-kun, Kirishima-san. I’ll be counting on you two.” I said.
“Of course! We’ll all work together and get through this!” Kirishima-san nodded. I was with them last night, so I feel confident in saying that neither of them is the killer. It’s just figuring who else it could be…
“…’-kun’…?” Kurohiko-san tilted his head. “Odd of you to refer to anyone with something other than ‘-san’, Nagata-san.”
“O-oh?” I hadn’t even noticed that I was doing that.
“…ah. I get it.” Kurohiko-san, for some reason, had a knowing smile. “Don’t worry, Nagata-san. I’m sure it’ll work out.” He winked and walked onto the elevator.
 “H-huh? K-Kurohiko-san?!”
“Nagata, c’mon!” Okanaya-kun dragged me onto the elevator and the doors closed behind us. Ugh, why was Kurohiko-san saying weird things at a time where I need to be focused?! We all waited silently as the screeching elevator moved down to the trial ground, opening slowly.
The décor has changed once again, matching the interior of the history building with torches that were barely lighting the room, shackles dangling from the grey stone walls. Monokuma said some usual speech about how we looked despairful and should take our places, but we were already moving whilst he spoke. “Hmm…? Have you already gotten used to this then?” He chuckled under his breath.
I glanced at the two new portraits. Hachi-san’s…instead of a regular X, their face was crossed out with two bloody magic wands, whilst Shinko-san’s face was crossed out with a regular X. We stood ready for another trial…
Toson Shinko, the Ultimate Horror Movie Director. He was rude, abrasive, and narcissistic. It was hard to understand him or even get close to him…but even so, his sharp words kept me on my toes and there’s no doubt in my mind that was just as scared about this situation as the rest of us, he just wanted to appear strong before us all.
Rina Kirishima
Yuuki Kurosaki
Doi Kurohiko
Saori Kibe
Amaterasu Hokama
Despite all that, somebody here is responsible for his death…
Sly
Karma Graves
Junpei Yokozawa
Maemi Watanabe
Kobo Okanaya
Tomoe Hachi
We need to find out who…otherwise we’ll never survive this killing game!
Mami Asano
Toson Shinko

Tsukiko Ishikawa
Ryuu Nagata
And so, the trial of hope and despair…the battle…the third trial begins!

Some recommendations for showing your appreciation for fic
I never know how to make this post, largely because I write fic and so I don’t want it to come across as a “do this for me.”  But I see my peers and friends routinely stating that they don’t know how their fics are being recieved and feel as though they are shouting their fic into a void and that it is wildly disheartening.
So since I had time on my hands this morning, I’m writing up some suggestions for you.  This is long.  I’m not putting it under a cut for Reasons.
Tumblr
Reblog fic.
That’s the biggest one.  Hitting like feels great.  I, as your fic writer, enjoy it when my fic is liked.  I, as an author, get really excited when someone is recommending my fic.
Reblogging is not just showing your appreciation; it is recommending it to the people who follow you.  It’s a double whammy.
Most fic readers like fic recommendations.  There’s a lot of fic out there, and so someone saying “Hi, I liked this and enjoy it, you might too” is really appreciated as a reader who is trying to figure out what to do.
Comment on fic.
Commenting is a great way to show support for a fic and an author.  It’s talking to them and showing your appreciation for their work.  It can be finger mashing, it can be something longer.  Tumblr comment culture tends to rely on sending shorter notes, but I’ve never seen an author complain about getting a long comment ever in my life.
Tag Commentaries - One of the things I like about tumblr is that tag culture has turned, over the years, into a way to add some subtle commentary while reblogging.  So you can tag things functionally (#fic is my functional reblogged fic tag), and then add anything you want in the tags.  Adding a simple “I loved this” in the tags makes an author feel great and might motivate them to write more.
Replies - Replying to the fic is another great way to show an author you liked their story.  The author (and the person you might be getting the reblog from) will get a notification of what you are saying on their post.  So even if you don’t follow the author, you can still say you appreciate their work.
Reblog additions - You can also add your own commentary to the caption of the fic as you see fit!  Different fandoms have different conventions on this, and authors have different preferences.  Similar to replies, the author will get a notification in their activity feed that you’ve said something and be able to check it out.
Sending asks or DMs - This is another way to reach out to an author and let them know you liked their story.  It’s more private and personal, which means it happens rarely.   But especially if you’re shy, sending a nice anon (especially when most people’s associations with anons are p r e t t y   n a s t y, can be really a day-brightener).
Some general recommendations
Commenting is hard, especially when you don’t know what to say but have a lot of good feelings about a fic.
Things not to do:  “When are you going to update?” / “More please!” - Sometimes this can be well recieved; other times it can have the opposite effect.  Some authors might take it well, others might take it as demanding and it might kill the joy they have in their story and so, far from getting the update you want, you won’t get anything at all. Recommended alternatives: saying what you liked to make you want more from the story.
Tone is a tricky thing to navigate generally online.  Something that might sound right in your head might be read very differently by the reader, so sometimes comments that are well-meant can come across as sarcastic/caustic and thus insulting when the author is reading them.  Be mindful and aware--we know you don’t mean that, but that doesn’t mean your words don’t hurt unintentionally.
Didn’t like something?  Or something grated you?  The author got canon wrong?  Take a deep breath.  It’s just fanfiction and you are not entitled to their work.  If they are not asking for critical feedback, your providing some unsolicited is crossing lines in an editorial process that you might not be aware of as a non-writer.  Just take a deep breath and keep scrolling.
Something as simple as a “this was great!” can go a long way.  If you want to go even further than that, pick a line you liked or a moment and say that you liked it.
Like fic.
If you’re not going to reblog fic but you enjoy it, I strongly recommend hitting the like button.  Not everyone uses the like button on this website the same way.  (I use tumblr across multiple devices and so I hit like on most posts I reblog just to remember that I’ve already seen the post; I know not everyone does this though.)  But if you’re someone who uses the like button fairly liberally, this is a strong move.
Following.
Obviously--you get to choose who you follow.  But if you like a fic, check out the author’s blog, and consider giving them a follow.
There are also frequently fic-amassing blogs within larger fandoms.  Those are good ones to check out too!
AO3(/FF.N/Other Platforms)
These are mostly recommendations based on AO3, though some may apply to other fic publishing platforms.
Comments
I’m not going to type all that up again.  I’d say the suggestions I made in the tumblr comment section apply across all platforms.
@longlivefeedback has a comment builder tool if you want help with writing a longer comment.
The only other point I’d say is there’s not time-limit on when to give a comment.  Someone posted the fic three years ago?  Five years ago?  Drop a note!  I’ve never seen an author complain about getting a comment on an old fic.  On the contrary, most of them are thrilled when it happens.
Kudos
Kudos are not like the tumblr like function.  They aren’t a way to save a fic you like--they are an easy way to show appreciation for a fic you’ve read.  If you liked it, and don’t regret the time spent reading, I recommend hitting the kudos button.  Most authors have daily emails turned on with Kudos updates from fics on AO3 and will get a note saying a fic got a kudos.  That feels good: some read their fic and enjoyed reading their fic.
Bookmarks
You can have both private and public bookmarks on AO3.
Private is good for things you....might want to keep private (like that kinky fucking porn that you really enjoyed and might...want to...find....again later....) (Or whatever else you want to keep private.)
Public will appear on your AO3 profile.  If someone is checking out your profile, they might see bookmarks as recommendations of good fic they might enjoy.  Since AO3 doesn’t have a reblog function, this is as close as you can get to having a catered fic recs section on that platform.
You can add additional tags and commentaries to your bookmarks as you’re saving them, allowing you to organize as you see fit.  Additional commentaries are something the author can also see and which might make their day in the way a comment might.
Cross-Platform
A lot of authors have multiple platforms they engage with.  Some will post directly to AO3 (or another platform), some will post to both tumblr and AO3.
If you find something on AO3 that you enjoy, a good number of authors will link--either in their profile or in their fics--how you can find them on tumblr.  If you want to spread an AO3 fic you find to your followers, see if the author has an original post they made about the fic that you can reblog--that way the author knows what traction their fic is getting, and where it’s coming from.  (We like to know that shit.  Trust me.)
If the author doesn’t have a post you can find, I strongly recommend @-mentioning them here on tumblr so they get a notification and know that they’re getting recommended.
If you’re making a post that lists out AO3 recs and you put the AO3 author handle--but know that the author has a tumblr, please also @-mention their tumblr.  They love knowing they’re getting recommended.
If you see an author you follow is posting a lot of tumblr fic, check out their AO3--they might have more!  If you don’t see a link for their profile on their blog, ask after it!  Chances are you’ll make them feel warm and fuzzy because that’s an ask that says “I love your writing.  Is there more of it I can check out?”   Even if they don’t have an account on AO3, you might get links to more fic for you to check out.
Some Notes for Authors
I read (and reblogged) a post a while back that talks about social media and fic writing.  The thing that’s hard about all this is that, even if AO3 doesn’t feel like a social media (we all know that Tumblr is one, for better and for worse) that doesn’t mean it’s not still beholden to some of the same laws that affect all web platforms, regardless of content or purpose.
I’m gonna quote the first post that I linked above (thank you @obotligtnyfiken for adding info to that post):
1 % are very active. They are the fans. They create their own content (hello, fanfic!), they cheer you on, they protest. 9 % may respond when you ask them to do something, but they will not take initiative. And they will not engage every time. 90 % will never engage, whatever you do.
Let me first say: it sucks to think about your fic in terms of marketing standards when you might not have any experience in marketing.  Considering what a success rate is based on what social media success is considered to be rather than the more nuanced forms of “I got a bunch of reviews and they were heartening” sucks.  But if you’re looking at hit counts and kudos counts, the above is important to bear in mind: most of your readers might enjoy but not engage because that’s how internet users engage with internet content across the board.  (Think about all that stuff you see on Facebook because you follow a page.  You might see it.  You might even appreciate the information.  You might not hit the like button.)  It sucks that the same is true of fic but...the same is true of fic.
Readers: You’re reading this.  You see what authors are balancing when they’re posting their fic online.  Please be mindful.  And I encourage you to engage with things you like.  Don’t be that silent 90%!
Because of this, bearing in mind that if you have a 10% kudos:hit ratio on your fic, that’s doing pretty well.
@longlivefeedback has a good breakdown of how the AO3 hit counter works.  I recommend checking it out since it was more protective of authors than I had initially thought.
People are engaging with your fic, despite the fact that 90% of people don’t necessarily engage with content on the internet that they might still enjoy.  If you’re writing a chaptered fic, that number might get skewed so the percentage seems even lower.
That being said, there are still ways that a hit:kudos ratio might get skewed in ways that might actually be kinder to your fic than you think: let’s say that someone goes back and rereads your fic after a few weeks or months or years (or days tbh).  You’ll get fresh hits from that.  They might not necessarily say anything--they left a kudos and a comment last time.  They gave their feedback.  But you’re still getting hits from them.
Readers: authors welcome “I’m rereading this and still love it” reviews.  If you’re reading through this section and want to support your authors, be aware of all the different feedback inputs they’re contending with, and what seem like happy fun fic time to you might come across as “no one likes my stuff,” to them which could be flatly untrue.

How To Make Money with a Blog
Tumblr media
Monetize Your Blogging Efforts With This Highly Actionable Guide So you finally want to join the blogging community. Well by reading this article you’ll have taken the biggest step to start a blog that can create an income for you and your family.
I have been blogging as my main source of income for the past 8 years. It has been a long hard slog ( making money online is hard ) but in the past few years I have managed to launch successful blog after successful blog which have meant that I can quit the 9-5 and spend more time with my family & start building a lifestyle I am happy with.
Don’t get me wrong I have made many mistakes along the way but once I knew what I was doing it became a lot easier and more enjoyable. Many of my friends have emailed me or called me to find out more about “What Jamie Does”, but it can be a little hard to sink in at first as to how you can actually make a real income from running a successful blog(s). Therefore I have decided to create this guide for my buddies, family, email subscribers and anyone else who wants to start doing “What Jamie Does”.
This guide to making money making a blog is completely free. I don’t want anything for it – just for you to take action and do it, so many of my friends would love to do it but give up too soon, often when their big breakthrough might only be a few weeks away.
The guide is quite long and there are lots of links to other pages on this weblog and on other blogs too which will help you – so please make sure to bookmark this page.
I hope you find it as enjoyable as I did writing it.
How Much Can you Earn Blogging? Whether you’re looking to supplement your income with a little extra to pay for a few nice treats or create a blog that will support your lifestyle then you can pretty much make as much money as you like from blogging if you are prepared to put in the hard work.
There are lots of great stories out there of successful bloggers who make money blogging:
For example over the past couple of years, husband and wife team, Bjork and Lindsay at PinchofYum. com, a food and recipe blog, have built up a huge following and some months they have made nearly $25k.
Another blogging couple, Yeison and Samantha, who run mytanfeet. com are making over $5k per month while they travel the world and share their photos and tales on their blog.
I’m not going to lie to you but it can take months even years before you might see a significant return on the time you invest in to starting a blog but that is why I have created this free guide so that you can be confident in taking the right steps to achieving your blogging goals.
So let’s continue…
How to Pick a Profitable Blog Niche This is the most critical step. Seriously.
There is no point in starting a blog that you want to make money from without a plan. There are thousands, even hundreds of niches out there. Some are broad and huge; some are small and virtually unknown. Some niches are easier to make money in than others.
This is why your research is important.
A good place to start when you are picking a niche is to look at your own interests in Google.
For example I really launched a website in the survivalist niche a couple of years ago which I sold for a great profit. The reason I created this blog was that I enjoy being outdoors, hiking and mountain biking etc . I also watch a lot of TV shows about people like Bear Grylls and Ray Mears.
I’m no expert but it’s something I like.
One area I never really got into with my survivalist blog and wanted to was Everyday Carry. Most people will have never heard of this concept but it really is an interesting sub-niche with in this niche. Everyday Carry is basically any items you can’t leave the house with.
For most of us this will be our wallet, phone & keys – and in the summer months hopefully some sunglasses: ).
If you travel a lot for work you may have a laptop or tablet with you.
If you work on the construction site you may have a tool belt.
However for many people who are always prepared everyday carry is about having everything you might need in an emergency or for general use on you at all times. This will often include a light source (torch), a pocket knife, some small tools & rope it’s quite amazing how easy it is to carry all these things with you in your pockets, on your keys or in a small bag.
So What Will You Need to Make Money Blogging Now that you have done your research and worked out what niche you want to enter it is time to start bringing all of the different elements together for starting as well as monetizing a blog.
1 . Get a Blog If you’re planning to make money from blogging then it goes with out saying that you will need to start a blog.: )
When anyone asks me about starting a professional money making blog I always recommend them to use self hosted WordPress as it’s the best platform for bloggers. I always recommend to new bloggers to use BlueHost to host their new blogs. You can get BlueHost’s high quality hosting for $2. 95 per month (36 months sign up) Use this link to get a free domain name with your hosting.

2 . Create Great Content So now that you have built your blog you are ready to create some blog posts for your readers.
The reason this section is called “Great Content” is because your content really does need to be of a high standard. Everyday millions of blog posts are published on the internet and with so much competition for our limited attention spans you really have to be creating blog posts people are going to want to read and perhaps even share on social media or on their own blogs.
Make sure your posts are:
Well formatted and look good with relevant images Are in-depth and entertaining Offer links to other posts to expand on points I have created a guide to coming up with interesting blog post ideas which may help you here and this post covers some tips to writing great blog posts.
Useful Resources:
Free Stock Image Sites
3. Build Up Your Audience I started my first ever blog by writing on a consistent schedule about myself, my hobbies and interests. People found me via Google, Facebook, social media and my readership gradually grew over time to where it is today.
Once I had built up an audience, making money from blogging became an afterthought.
When you have a large group of fans interested in what you have to say, the money will come. Trust me on that.
The hard part is finding and gathering your fans.
Promote your blog
No matter how great your articles are no one is going to know about them unless you take time to promote your blog.
Tumblr media
SEO
I know enough about SEO to probably be wrong about a lot of it. I could probably write a series of articles on SEO tactics I have learned over the years but as I am not an expert I’ll point you in the right direction to some good articles on the subject.
WordPress SEO Guide (Blogging Wizard) The Big List of Link Building Tactics (Point Blank SEO) How to Research competitors with SEMRush Beginners Guide to SEO (Moz. com) The SEO BluePrint(MatthewBarby. com) P. S. SEO is not dead, it’s one of the best traffic sources for people who will buy your products/services or sign up to your email lists. SEO is a lot harder than it once was but don’t ignore it.
Social Media
From my experience, the actual social media sites that send the most traffic to blogs in general are:
Facebook Twitter Google+ Pinterest LinkedIn Reddit The results will vary depending on your target audience.
If your blog is aimed around professional readers and business people you might have more potential traffic through LinkedIn and Google+. If your target reader is more visual it might make more sense to focus exclusively on Facebook, Pinterest and also Instagram for promoting your blog.
A great social media management tool for all this is Sendible. Try it for free for 30 days or check out my review on Sendible.
WordPress also have a variety of plugins that make it easy to put social sharing buttons on your blog posts. Some people like to limit the number of plugins they use on their WordPress blog because it can slow the blog down and it can open your blog up to more attacks, butt a social sharing plugin is one that should have high priority if you do choose to use plugins.
THESE ARE THE TOP SOCIAL SHARING PLUGINS FOR WORDPRESS:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/sharebar/ http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-socializer/ http://wordpress.org/plugins/scrolling-social-sharebar/ http://wordpress.org/plugins/digg-digg/ http://wordpress.org/plugins/flare/ http://wordpress.org/plugins/share-this/ Those are six popular sharing buttons. There are many more. Whichever you choose make sure you limit the number of icons that appear and also make sure the plugin doesn’t slow down your page speed dramatically. If it does you’ll lose readers.
Sharing your site content on social media is an art. There is no right way to do it. People have success sharing blog content in their own unique ways. Some will share only their blog site links on social media. Others will share a high percentage of unique content on social media.
As is with most things in life, sometimes the best approach is somewhere in the middle.
Paid Advertising
Paying for clicks and traffic on social media or in the search engines can be a great option to market your blog. A lot of the information about site marketing covers the organic options. While some of these can turn your blog into a popular destination quickly the more likely scenario is that it will take time for you to build communities to promote your blog content.
With paid methods, you have the opportunity to pay for traffic and clicks right away. And if you do well in targeting your audience on the right channels you can easily build your audience with advertising in order to supplement your organic efforts.
Facebook – Depending on your niche you can expect to pay about $1 per click to your web site, but there are many variables that can influence how much you will pay. Depending on the nature of your business this can provide some excellent ROI in terms of initial sales, but the main focus of this ad campaign is to get people to your blog. Wow them with your content and get them to opt-in to your email list for more updates.
Twitter – has a variety of ad options like Facebook and other social networks. The best one for your blog marketing efforts is the Promoted Tweets option. You can expect about $0. 50 to be able to $0. 75 estimated cost per engagement, which is Twitter’s way of telling you what your cost per click is.
Reddit – ads appear on the top of the various pages. They are obviously ads so users don’t feel tricked into clicking on them. When people choose to select an ad they usually know it. So there is little chance of upsetting customers this way.
LinkedIn – has traditional online advertising that appears in the sidebar, but the Sponsored Updates options is much more advantageous for content producers.
Build Your Email List
You will see lots of bloggers who proclaim that the money is in the list. In my early days I didn’t buy in to this ideology but now it’s one of the most important things I focus on.
Once you’ve developed your fan base, it is essential to retain them as you continue to build your personal brand.
In the case of my blog, about 99% of my early readers would come, read a single article, and then leave forever. So instead of missing out on a potential regular, I started gathering email addresses using a service called Awebber, but these days I prefer GetResponse.
In return for a reader’s email address, I would give away a free 7 day email course via email. About 85% of the time, that reader would stick around after the mini course to check out my new articles and updates.
In fact , I have readers on my blogs that have stuck with me for over 6 years!?!
The key to growing your mailing list would be to keep your existing fans while at the same time as attracting new readers. This way, your audience will increase month on month.
