“How much did it hurt?”

Findekáno froze, turning back to look at Russandol in concern. “What do you mean?”

Russandol’s hair, limp and dull, moved slightly from the soft exhale of air as he spoke. “When you cut my hand. How much did it hurt?”

“I—” Findekáno felt like someone had pushed him off-balance. “It didn’t—I didn’t hurt at all, I...”

He knew immediately that had been the wrong thing to say. Russandol went utterly still, even his breath ceasing.

“I mean—it is your pain your wound,” he hurried to clarify. “What right do I have to weep over your suffering? It hurt you terribly, I hurt you terribly—”

“I don’t remember it,” Russandol rasped. “I thought...I thought you might.”

“I do,” Findekáno whispered. His arms ached to hold his beloved close, but he was frozen to the spot, unable to move, unable to comfort. And why would Russandol want his comfort, anyway? “I will never forget it. The agony of maiming you, my dearest love, my everything—”

“If you loved me, you should have killed me,” Russandol growled, and from behind his dull copper locks, his eyes—once so bright—were cold and grey.

“I could not,” Findekáno croaked. “It would have meant my own death, also.”

Russandol bowed his head once more, his face obscured. Findekáno yearned to see him in all his beauty, to see him smile—but he feared, now, that he had ruined any chance of happiness for either of them, all in a moment of selfish, painful weakness.

It had hurt, to see the blood and bone; to hear that awful groan, not even strong enough to truly be a scream. It hurt Findekáno’s very soul, and would forever.

But in the face of all Russandol had endured, he knew his own pain meant nothing. And Russo knew it, too.

Mmm. I've had to think quite hard on this one. Most of my fics are written in third person anyway, and I do tend to flip perspectives so we can see into the minds of the majority of characters. I've decided to go with the mother's perspective of Mine To Own when the reader's father berates you due to the wedding being called off.

Your mother remained silent, her dark eyes watching between you and your father. The man had always scared her, rendering her to a complete coward, even when she should have stood up for her children. The insults that your father threw at you made your mother wince, like a blow directly to her heart. Harlot. Defiant. Your mother admired your strength and silently wished that she was as bold. That terror of what her husband might do kept her seated, and with shaking hands, she continued her sewing.

If there was one thing that made your mother happy, it was that you had found joy in your life. Unfortunately she had had little in hers, but was content to live that joy through you. Seeing the smile on your face each morning, and knowing that Raymond was behind that, gave her more reason to keep living.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

For this year's TSF, I give you a little pseudo-crime story!

It all starts with the disappearance of an influential magnate with whom a young journalist was scheduled to have an interview. Utterly overwhelmed by the tense atmosphere in the little village, she is soon joined by her best friend who is very intrigued by the mysterious absentee mogul. A wild goose chase through corporate espionage, emotional constipation, and just general chaos ensues.
