A customer called me by BOTH my pronouns today. Like an adult woman not a teen. Nobody has ever done that, not even my friends at work. It made me so happy. Everyone looks at me and just defaults to she/her but that woman actually took my funky lil name tags with cut up stickers into consideration even though we’ll never see each other again

not to like drag you into syscourse but the whole reason we bacame anti endo was do to the amount of hate-harrasment we got from endo systems, we have had we to many endo systems tell us that we deserve our truama and-or that our trauma wasnt enough to make us into a systems + the amount of endo systems that tell us that we have it better/easier because we formed from trauma and that we can get a dignoses easier do to that then endo system (and some more private stuff we wont bother you with) it just made us really distust endo systems but we want to become pro endo but have no idea if its even worth it or even safe for us do to the trama we got form pro endo blogs
(had the courage to send this do to the ask of one other anti endo annon that wanted to become pro enod, also sorry this came out venty then i wanted to )
hey, thanks for coming to us with this. we’re really glad you did. we welcome any anti endo here who is willing to listen, learn, and be vulnerable with us. we’re all systems here, we’re all people, and we’re all capable of positive growth and change for the better.
this got long, and pretty heavy. so it’s going under a cut to spare those who aren’t interested. if syscourse is a trigger for your system, please scroll on!
we’re sorry to hear you’ve been hurt or harassed by pro endos in the past. we have, too. in fact, we have split an alter in the past due to a pro endo harassing us and spreading cruel rumors about us online. we’ve been called an abuser by pro endos due to our antiracist stance and activism. we’ve also been told by pro endos that we deserved the abuse that we went through as a toddler that caused our disorder to form. so we get that distrust, anon. we really, truly do.
it’s gotten so bad for us that we avoid calling ourselves “pro endo” outright. do we love, support, cherish, and believe endogenic systems? absolutely. do we want to uplift them and help them feel welcome in the plural community? without a doubt. but we cannot bring ourselves to call our system “pro endo” specifically due to the harm we’ve faced from pro endos in the past.
but the thing is, the harsh and violent words from a few pro endos should not reflect on the validity of all endogenic systems or endogenic plurality as a whole. some pro endos can be really mean, especially online. but that doesn’t change the fact that most endo systems are just out here existing, attempting to live their best lives and avoid being fakeclaimed and harassed by people who don’t know them. we have had the privilege of meeting dozens of endo systems in our time running this blog - nearly all of which were thoughtful, kind, and caring folks who don’t spend time harassing other systems in any way, shape or form.
anon, you can in fact be supportive of endo systems without ever interacting with them directly. you can educate yourself and attempt to learn more without ever calling yourself “pro endo.”
if this interests you, we’d really encourage you to try browsing some endo friendly tags on tumblr to get a feel for plurality without trauma and those who identify that way. (note: please block the “#radqueer” tag before doing this, as a lot of radqueers will clog the endo tags with posts. endogenic plurality has nothing to do with radqueers, despite some folks saying otherwise.)
the “#pluralgang” tag is absolutely amazing. you could also check out “#plurality,” “#actually plural,” “#endo safe,” “#endo friendly,” and “#endogenic.” by just scrolling the tags, you can try to expose yourself to some endo systems without committing to following anyone or interacting directly. maybe this could help you work through some of that distrust.
of course, if you do reach a point where you feel comfortable calling yourself pro endo, go for it! there are tons of amazing, wonderful pro endos here on tumblr who surely would welcome you into their spaces. but you don’t have to directly engage or identify with that specific label in order to be supportive and accepting of endogenic plurality. it’s okay to listen to others with different life experiences and support different system origins without identifying with the pro endo label.
we’re always here, happy to field any further questions you may have or provide resources if you’re hoping to learn more. and we truly are wishing you the very best in your future. we’re sorry this got so long, but we hope it can help put your mind at ease a bit, or at least help you feel a little less alone.
if any endogenic systems sees this and feels comfortable interacting with anti endos who are willing to learn, feel free to comment or reblog this post so anon can maybe find some endo systems who they can potentially follow without facing any backlash. no pressure, of course! again, we do think that everyone is capable of positive change, and past anti endos or ex anti endos should always be welcomed in our spaces with open arms.

“Help my Cat” Scam Going Around
Have you received an ask in your inbox from an account that previously wasn’t following you, pleading for a signal boost on their vet-related post? I got one today, but something felt fishy. Or perhaps “phishy” is more accurate?
Here’s the ask:
Tumblr media
Now a couple odd things right off the bat. This is a blog I’ve never seen or interacted with, who wasn’t following me prior to sending the ask, so I immediately wondered how they pulled my name to ask for help. And while the world in general is a shitshow, so I can sort of see why a person would default to saying it “isn’t the best time to ask for help”, they say it with such confidence without knowing me at all.
Odder still, from their posts-- which at least do look extremely normal and human-like, down to the mishapocalypse profile picture-- we don’t share any interests aside from... well. Cats.
The other odd thing is them specifically requesting I reply privately, through DM or a private answer. I wouldn’t think much of it except they’re already asking me to publicly share something on my blog; if I’m going to answer the ask, why can’t I do so publicly?
I scroll through their blog some more. Their pinned post is, indeed, asking for help with their cat:
Tumblr media
Weirdly, though, an earlier version of this post uses a completely different name for the cat??
Tumblr media
This is bizarre to me and my red flags are pinging louder. Maybe it’s innocuous, though, I mean, it could just be a nickname or something? Why would you change it though?
Also, the post’s ratio is weird-- 101 reblogs to 44 likes. I suppose not too shocking if they’re doing this use-an-ask-to-get-a-boost tactic widely, but the ratio is pretty extreme. I check the notes. Every single reblog with tags has some variation on ‘boost’ or ‘signal boost’; there are no comments. No one has mentioned knowing this person, no one has vouched for the legitimacy of the post... but two mention that they were asked to boost the post.
*EDIT: Per a polite anon, I will clarify that signal boost/boost tags themselves aren't a red flag; what bothered me was that the post's ONLY interaction history came from boosts from seeming strangers. An active fandom blog, active enough to think posting a plea for financial help might get traction, SHOULD have at least one or two mutuals or friends who are willing to push the post and vouch for its legitimacy. Because the only engagement was from people who had clearly been approached via ask, like me, I got the heebie jeebies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, I’m doubtful enough that I’m not comfortable boosting this post myself. But let me check one more thing.
I search google for the exact phrasing of the help-requested post.
Ah.
Tumblr media
There’s well over a dozen blogs pulled up with this exact phrasing. Most of them use the name “Koppi” instead of either “Ashel” or “Biscuit”, but a few use “Ashel”. The oldest result, from 2016, uses “Ashel”; more commonly, these results are from 2022 or earlier this year and again, most say “Koppi”. Also interesting: basically none of these posts exist anymore. Google can identify the exact wording even beyond what I included in my search query using whatever demonic powers allow it to reference removed content, but they’ve clearly been deleted.
Additionally, which I clarify for those like me who attribute Google’s quirks to demonic powers rather than an actual understanding of how it works: if the dates didn’t make it clear, these aren’t the blogs in the notes of falesyorac’s post. I cross-referenced the names. It’s not pulling up those reblogs, so presumably the majority of these results at one time came from someone who drafted and posted the wording to their blog, not from reblogs.
Maybe it was once a real post, maybe it’s always been a scam, but evidently the content of the post has been stolen and recirculated at this point. Along the way I found this as well, an anon warning someone who must have reblogged a version of the scam post:
Tumblr media
So this is at least partly confirmed as a scam from another source.
Please be wary, do your due diligence before you put your money anywhere, and block & report falseyorac. I’m not sure the nature of the falseyorac blog originally; it may have been a real account that got hijacked, it may be a very convincing fake, it may be a real person’s blog who is trying to to leverage their innocuous appearance to pull quick money with a beggar scheme. Regardless, it is evident there is not a genuine Ashel/Biscuit needing help today and that whoever holds the falseyorac account right now is trying to pull a scam.
One more thing-- one of those reblog’s tags I showed earlier.
Tumblr media
I also have a tag for reblogs of cats. (It’s “cats”.) I suspect this is where this particular iteration of the scam is pulling its targets from-- after all, people who reblog cats enough to tag them must care about them, right?
Finally, I am tagging the people who reblogged falseyorac’s post with tags (there’s too many for me to do everyone who reblogged it at all) below the readmore-- if I messed up and tagged the wrong person and/or you want your name removed, please just contact me and ask. I want to make sure you can see this warning, but I’m happy to untag you if it bothers you for any reason.

(A few people’s names didn’t come up when I tried to tag them, so I wasn’t able to include them here, rip.)

So recently I came across and anti-shipper who apparently really dislikes when anti-shipping and anti-shippers are compared to conservatives and purity culture, and wrote a rant about it. They cowardly have replies and reblogs turned off but I still wanted to respond.  I won’t tag them and don’t know if they’ll see this(but I hope they do)
<i> Antiship is not the same as being a puritan/supporting purity culture. Puritans are conservative Christians who shame people for having sex before marriage and tells Queer people, polyamorus people, and people who are in open relationships that they're "sinful" and need to go to hell.</i>
Purity culture as practiced by the American Evangelical Christians is at it’s core a patriarchal and misogynistic means of control and repression, especially of women.  It teaches that sex and sexuality is an inherently sinful and harmful aspect of human nature and must be repressed.  It also teaches women that THEY are responsible for the sexual misdeeds of the men around them. If they are assaulted it’s their fault because they were immodest and drove their attackers into lust. This behavior is mirrored by anti-shippers when they go after ships(that the anti-shippers do not like) and claim that the mere existence of these ships will cause people to commit sexual assault and abuse and it’s the fault of the shippers(not the abusers who are just easily mis-led babies and not responsible for their own actions I guess)  This is one reason why people compare anti-shippers to puritans and purity culture. Because they share the idea that sex, and expressions of sexuality= evil/sinful/harmful and therefor needs to be controlled and police.
<i> When proshippers call antis puritans, they're also being aphobic to the antis that identify as Asexual/Acespec, Aromantic/Arospec, and aroace/aroacespec. Being Ace/Aro is not the same as being a puritan and doesn't mean the hatred of sex/romance. Ace/Aro people don't go out of their way to harass Allos for being openly sexual. We honestly don't care what Allos do with their sex lives. Also there are Ace/Aro people who are sex favored and do have sex.</i>
As a member of the Aro/Ace community you can fuck all the way off with this and you can just keep fucking off. You are correct that being Aro/Ace doesn’t mean being sex-repulsed and sex-negative or being a puritan. Being aro/ace is not related to being anti-ship in anyway shape or form. But if someone is trying to use their asexuality as an excuse or reason to harass shippers and tell them not to write erotica or express their sexuality, claiming that it is somehow inherently harmful or offensive the asexual person is in the wrong and are engaging in one aspect of purity culture. Specifically the part about attempting to control and police other people’s sexual expression.
Also out of curiosity are you familiar with the Aro/Ace micro-identity of aesgosexuality? Here’s some info on it as I don’t want to go into detail here https://gayety.co/what-does-aegosexual-mean Unsurprisingly quite a few aegosexuals are involved in and enjoy shipping and consuming erotic fic.  Tell me what would you call it when people call members of the Aro/Ace community pedophiles and groomers because of the ships they like?
<i> Another thing to point out that proshipper love calling antis conservatives even though conservatives are more likely to say the same things proshippers say. And conservatives will harass anyone that says something they don't agree with like proshippers do. These people need to learn not to harass people and just block anyone that doesn't agree with them. Because why call yourself anti harassment when you're actively harassing anyone that disagrees with you. </i>
And this word salad is a very poor attempt at DARVO.  Could you try to include any examples? Because I have never once seen pro-shippers say anything close to what conservatives say. But right now I can very easily point to examples of anti-shippers calling ships that have nothing to do with incest, pedophilia or grooming, as incest, pedophilia, and grooming.(ie. child-hood friends to lovers is incest, height difference between two adult characters is pedo, autistic characters are minor coded and any ship with them is pedo)  If you’ve been paying attention to the news you might notice how this compares with conservatives recent insane culture wars at labeling anything LGBTQ or gender non-conforming as pedophilia, and grooming. Again we see anti-shippers mirroring conservative behavior by labeling anything they don’t like as pedophilia and a danger to children.
Also when you claim pro-shippers “harass anyone who disgrees with them” do you mean, an anti-shipper says something mean, stupid, and posibly slightly bigoted in a public space and get mocked, rebutted ad shouted down for it? Or someone an anti-shipper has targeted for harassment doesn’t fold and actually fights back? Do you not see how that is similar to when conservative bullies say something bigoted, face consequences for it, and then go whining about the “woke” mob canceling them?
Conservatives and anti-shippers both share a mindset where they center their sense of morality and ethics one themselves and their own personal feelings of disgust.  If they feel disgust at something, then whether or not it’s actually harmful to anything, it’s evil and wrong and needs to be policed or eradicated.  They lack the ability to just left other people just enjoy their own interests and live their own lives in a way that’s different than them
If you don’t like being hit with the puritan, purity culture or conservative label then maybe you should take some time to learn about the impacts of purity culture beyond the very superficial understanding you display here. Learn about sex-positivity and sexual fantasies. And maybe stop regurgitating various right-wing talking points and behaviors while pretending to be progresses

I feel very conflicted and I know I’ll get hate if I post this on my blog but I just want feedback. I loved D for years after watching the show until season 8 came out and I felt betrayed. I thought it was out of character. I wanted happy romantic J x D. I saw myself in D. I’ve read the books at long last over the past year and I know I have confirmation bias. I love Sansa too. And I see myself in her as well. Deep down I know that I am far more like book!Sansa than I am like the character D really is and that the D in my head is not truly who the character is. I want to love Jonsa. I think that could be such a happy end for Sansa and I want to want that (that being specifically Jonsa; of course I want a happy end for her). But I don’t know how to shake my attachment to D and the character I want her to be. I can’t let go and stop projecting despite consciously being aware that she is not truly very much like me at all. I think perhaps because Sansa’s arc has not yet had as much direct payoff. She has not yet been able to claim power in the way D has and I think thus identifying myself with her may cast a light on uncomfortable feelings of helplessness within myself. But I’m not really sure. All I know is that logically I wish for Sansa to be my favorite and I want to love Jonsa instead of JxD and I know Sansa is quite a bit like me but I just can’t seem to embrace that. I’m not sure if I am looking for any sort of advice or wisdom or perhaps just wanting to put my thoughts out there. I’m curious about anything at all that you might have to say
I have my opinions and preferences, but there’s a difference between emotionally connecting and intellectually engaging. I’ve read loads of classic novels because I want to know what they say, why they matter, but I often fail to find them personally meaningful. That’s simply due to life experience which is why certain things resonate with me or don’t. I’ve found, none of us read the same novel, even if we agree on certain aspects or characters, there’s always something else that hits us differently. That’s not an indictment or vindication of a person because I’ve revisited books years later and my response is wildly different.
The book didn’t change, life changed me so I read it differently this time around. That's a good thing to bear in mind when we're talking about the same series for years on end, there's room for us to evolve our stances because we're changing. I leave room for that with others, I permit myself the same understanding. I hope you do that for yourself too!
Also, my sensibilities aren’t Martin’s, so even if I make arguments about why a certain thing shouldn’t/should happen, I know it still might or might not. Jon and Dany isn’t a universally accepted pairing for no reason. And even though most of what I say about Dany I tag with “anti,” that’s just because I want people to be able to avoid it if they’d like. I don’t hate her, I have a lot of sympathy for her. I think her story is full of tragedy, so I don’t think there’s anything weird about reading the books and your heart going out to her. Many, many fans identify with her, some because they too are abuse survivors. That’s why a lot of fans connected so deeply with show Sansa as well. I was frustrated before the GoT finale because the people who argued with us about Dany were actively defending her burning people alive and denying where her story was going, but after GoT ended, I went into the Dany tag and saw a few posts by more normal fans who simply loved a girl who had inspired them and helped them in their own struggles, so I understand who she is to people even if she isn’t that to me.
I loved D for years after watching the show until season 8 came out and I felt betrayed.
This was a pretty universal sentiment, and I felt betrayed too (although for different reasons, coming from a completely different direction), so I sympathize.
Deep down I know that I am far more like book!Sansa than I am like the character D really is and that the D in my head is not truly who the character is.
I think the “problem” (not really a problem, but we’ll call it that) is that Martin wants his characters to be more than one thing. I’ve said in the past, he has quite an expansive view of what one person can encompass which means, I look at, let’s say, the Hound quite differently than many in the fandom. Every bad thing I have ever said about him is true, but there are good things about him that are true too, and Martin wants both to coexist. That’s true for Tyrion (another villain), Jaime, Theon….it’s true for Dany too. She’s even more enmeshed with good things, as more good desires, than those guys, so it’s easy to let it eclipse everything else. I’ve pointed out before that with Dany, it’s always a one-two. She “saves” people, then we discover it wasn’t salvation at all. You have to be open to questioning her to realize that though.
The way the show framed her, a lot of people saw themselves or who they wanted to be in Dany, and even now, I’ll hear people occasionally compare themselves to Dany in a positive way, because for years, she was a #girlboss. We might have a lot of skepticism around that idea now, realizing it was to hide what her story actually was, but it resonated because, who wouldn’t want to be capable of fighting injustice? Of walking into a situation and taking control of it and rectifying wrongs? The problem is, in the books, we’re presented with the reality that her methods aren’t improving things, and in the show, they mute that as much as possible. When the author is trying to show the devastation of war and the showrunners opted to glorify it, the audience is gonna have a reaction that’s no longer compatible with the original intent. For instance, Arya killing all the Freys. That’s presented as a bad ass moment, that’s their view, so why would a fan realize, “but over here vengeance / unnecessary bloodshed is bad.” It’s careless storytelling, but D&D were also dishonest too. They included certain moments to justify the ending, but undermined it so fans wouldn't track it, rewrote characters to make them obsequious to Dany. And then they drowned it all in bs interviews / commentary, loads and loads of hype and marketing....they twisted it completely out of any discernible shape. Confusion is an understandable response to such contradictory nonsense. People I'm a fan of made sense of it, predicted it, but I do think y'all were lied to by the showrunners which annoys me to no end.
But I don’t know how to shake my attachment to D and the character I want her to be.
That's love though. I've experienced this so often in real life, wanting good for someone I care about, desperately wanting them to see the self-destructive patterns they have, and not being able to get them to change anything and learning to either accept where they are/who they are, or learning, I can't accept it and ending the relationship because it wasn't healthy for me to be involved. Martin loves his villains, Tyrion is his fav, he wants you to care, that's where he'll get the tragedy in Dany's ending rather than it simply being a clear cut good vs evil ending. I think he wants us to have sympathy on both sides of the coming struggle, and to have fans see the heroic path Dany could have and watch her fail to follow it and walk down a path she didn't have to choose...it's gonna make it heart-wrenching rather than cliche. I think you may be almost just where Martin wants you.
I think perhaps because Sansa’s arc has not yet had as much direct payoff. She has not yet been able to claim power in the way D has and I think thus identifying myself with her may cast a light on uncomfortable feelings of helplessness within myself. But I’m not really sure.
Obviously, I don't know you, but from what I've seen people write about Sansa, I do think her relative powerlessness is a major detractor for fans. For some it makes her boring, for others, they despise her because they're so frustrated by her not doing something. But it's a dose of reality in this fantasy world to have a character constrained by her situation and her life dictated by her gender. I'd argue that Sansa is a more impressive character for the mercy and bravery she shows even thought she is a captive herself, but I understand that's not as thrilling as other characters' stories.
I want to love Jonsa instead of JxD
Sansa has had a few crushes which are fairly...I’ll say, detached from reality. She connects to the characters emotionally by imagining them as romantic figures, less a tangible knowing and loving the individual. It’s all very daydreamy, but mainly, she's been the object of desire for creeps. So, while I disagree with them, there is a part of me that understands why fans aren't looking for her to have an actual romance because the way it has existed in her story thus far isn't tangible for her or rewarding, and of course, there's her age. Dany on the other hand, as young as she was when this story began, has had sexual partners she loves. We say Drogo was an abusive POS, we know Daario doesn't truly care for her, so I understand, with one part of my mind, that fans are looking for her to have a mutual, sexual relationship. If you love Dany, a healthy sexual relationship feels more pressing than one for Sansa, due to past experiences. It feels more appropriate due to her age as well. So, I understand why one can have hooks for you as a fan that the next doesn't. It’s always good to remember though, while we connect to these characters as if they’re people, the author is using them to discuss ideas, and they will experience, or not experience, certain things as a result.
I feel very conflicted and I know I’ll get hate if I post this on my blog but I just want feedback.
I'd like to tell you that isn't the case, but it's probably true. I still get rude messages because I'm a Sansa fan/Jonsa, and I can't imagine a situation like yours, loving both characters and being open to Jonsa but shipping J/D, would allow you to be fully comfortable anywhere. I can't assure you that my corner of the fandom will treat you with the utmost understanding either, so I'm glad you reached out this way and felt safe coming into my inbox. I find talking about things is helpful. There isn't always an answer, but it makes me feel better, so I'm happy to read your thoughts on this even if I can't offer any advice, in the hopes it makes you feel better too. 💗

Anne Rice's books are filled with morally dubious concepts and toxic relationships, I thought everyone that is fan would be so because of that. But scrolling through the tag I find people claiming to be fans but only of the wholesome parts, which are almost nothing?? Anne Rice is not wholesome in the slightest. I don't know, it feels lonely. And also I see the TV show isn't willing to engage with the horror and complexity of these books neither, which, makes me see the vampire chronicles isn't really meant to be brought to this medium. I don't know why I am dumping this on you but I feel like you would understand somehow. Please ignore if not, I don't want to offend you.
Lmao I’m not offended, hello! I am, however, about to talk way too much bc I haven't changed in the years since I've haunted tunglr dot com so I apologize for that
TLDR: Be a freak, don't let anyone make you feel bad, I hope the show isn't too wholesome.
I’ve been in and out of this fandom for like, literally twenty years 👵🏻 so being completely honest I have always seen a wide range of fans on the spectrum of HAPPILY ENJOYING IN BLISS to ONLY INTERESTED IN CRITICISM and like that’s such a personal, subjective choice of whatever everyone finds fun in their free time. I’ve also, in twenty years, been on both ends of the spectrum, and I even fully swore AR off for a few years at one point bc I was so mad at her lol, but IM BACK BAYBEE and to me idk it’s not fun to take things so seriously all the time. That’s just me though!
I do think there’s been a huge shift in fandom culture (particularly on Tumblr) in the last 10 years or so that prioritizes moral critiques of canon; it’s not just VC, I see this in a lot of fandoms, and I think it’s been more amplified since the Adult Content Ban bc, surprise!, a lot of adults left the site lol. I think we’re living in a culture right now that’s very focused on respectability politics and there’s obviously a huge push in the mainstream to censor and control transgressive media (especially queer fiction), and it doesn’t surprise me that this has influenced younger fans because it’s a culture we are steeped in at all times, even when they try to identify as progressive. But don’t think that the broader wave of censorship right now isn’t connected to the way conservatives are beginning to skew the conversations in fandom spaces, too. Fandom is a microcosm of what’s happening outside! And there are all types of ideas and stigmas that we get inundated with in the world, without our consent, because it’s the space we all occupy.
Having said all that LOL. All these types of fans exist and sometimes you have to just read the room and find your people. Some people’s enjoyment of the books is conditional, ie: cherrypicking what we liked about them and celebrating just those parts. Especially because I think so many of us read the books young and didn’t think too hard about it; we can agree that Anne’s writing was seductive and we were all probably baby queer weirdos who felt seen or w/e. And I think it’s normal that a lot of us have grown up and looked back at some of the stuff in the books like “oh yikes lol”
But everyone has different ways to navigate those feelings. I personally don’t have a problem compartmentalizing and just enjoying myself. I don’t take fiction morals very seriously and I enjoy the thought exercise of putting myself in imaginary dark places. Not everyone can flip that on and off and separate fiction from reality so easily, so ur milage may vary. I’m also someone who supports the idea of using fiction as a staging area for sexuality, and using fiction imo is a great way to play. Not everybody feels that way and for some people, the fun of playing in fandom is to play with the canon in a transformative way to see how to “fix” it or to rearrange it in a way that is less nauseating. I think there’s a culture in spaces like Tumblr to feel you need to repent for your fiction sins, and not everyone can sit with the guilt of accidentally enjoying amorality in fiction. And like I’m sure there are fans who read IWTV at 13 and Loustat is just so deeply embedded in them that they simply cannot exit the train at this point, and they're doing what they can with the scraps to ease that discomfort.
And I mean, good for them, if it helps them enjoy their time on this fucking germy ass planet!!!!!! That’s very fun, happy 4 u guys lol.
There is also 1000000% Nothing Wrong with blissfully enjoying all the evil and trash. It is perfectly safe and extremely normal. You just need to find your people, and sometimes it is hard and it does feel lonely. I'm with you, though. I'm here to enjoy the evil bullshit and revel in it LOL. There's literally nothing in the series that is wholesome except for Mojo.
To be honest, I’m not into Loustat at all. And not in a morally superior way—they don’t really do it for me but also Lestat reminds me waaaaaaaay too much of my abuser and Louis reminds me way too much of myself when I was stuck in that relationship. It isn’t fun for me to engage with Loustat content because I tend to only see the manipulation and gaslighting when I look at it, and for me personally it’s juuuuuuust a bit too close to the reality I lived through.  I would argue that my OTP Armand/Daniel is the most toxic ship in VC but I was never kidnapped by a vampire or stalked across the globe while being literally addicted to his body fluid so yknow, that don’t bother me. =P But it’s 100% normal to look at canon toxic ships and play in the sandbox to either “fix” them or to like, take control of the narrative and allow yourself some catharsis by digging into it in a safe imaginary space. When I have the chance I like to mAkE thEM WORSE
So it’s been occurring to me when I see the enthusiasm of these fans for the show that perhaps they don’t particularly like canon to begin with? So changing it this drastically isn’t an issue to them? I’m sure everyone has their own reasons and I don’t want to generalize. On the issue of Claudia, for example: I think she is an intrinsic part of the plot and drives very profound feminist messages in the book, and I think her being a small child is absolutely essential to that story. I recognize that there are morally reprehensible moments in text regarding her and to me I’m like GOOD, IT’S SUPPOSED TO BE GROSS. It’s supposed to be gross!!!! It’s a horror novel!!!!!! And Anne Rice was a writer who wanted to always talk about the full spectrum of human emotion, including sexual emotion, so having sexual themes intertwined with the horror was completely on purpose!
Then you see some people who ONLY see that it’s gross and can’t connect with the full scope of her story because it’s too uncomfortable. And like, you do you bestie! Curate that experience for yourself! Have boundaries and love yourself enough to stay safe!!! But I do think it’s wild the amount of complaints I’ve seen about Claudia, for example, which strike me as particularly ironic because it’s almost meta in the way they’ve embodied the entire reason her character is tragic. People infantilizing Claudia as a character, unable to engage with the topic of her at all, is exactly the reason she’s a tragedy in canon, because she can be as old as she wants and people will always see her as a child. D:
As far as the TV show goes lol.
Being fair, I don’t think we know enough yet to know how evil & problematic they’re going to be. LMAO. I hope it’s like unhinged gaslighting abusive romance bc like, WHAT ARE YOU WASTING OUR TIME FOR IF NOT? But I always have found it funny when you see people who seem to otherwise hate everything problematic in VC somehow cape for Loustat as if it’s any different from the other ships. 😂
My concerns at this moment are that the way they changed Claudia is a huge red flag to me about whether or not they will engage in the problematic elements, and I’m not thrilled that RJ says the rest of the books give you a better picture of Lestat than just IWTV, because I disagree. Like, hearing from his own voice definitely allows us to know his sense of humor and we can see he’s a bi disaster, but he’s already CHARMING in IWTV. Louis falls for his shit because he’s charming. So I don’t think we need to know that he considers himself faultless for him to have a fuller portrayal on the show.
Like, I hope the show portrays them as being an abusive ship and shows all the nuance that it deserves, but RJ’s comments reminded me of the binary we see over and over in VC fandom about trying to get to the bottom about WHICH ONE OF THEM WAS LYING. (And it was Lestat, imo LOL he’s told on himself many many times.) So claiming IWTV is an incomplete portrayal of him makes me wonder if RJ comprehended that Lestat is a charming manipulator who abuses everyone in his life LOL. And ESPECIALLY with the time shift + age difference I think this puts them in a very different context. A Lestat who is turned in his 30s with a fully baked prefrontal cortex is going to have a very different temperament from canon Lestat, and even moreso when we understand he’s not a traumatized, freshly-bereaved fledgling anymore but like OVER A CENTURY OLD LMAO so like, he’s had time to calm down and gain some wisdom and that would have to make such a huge difference on the level of coercion. (That’s another red flag for me too is that RJ goes “no no we just changed a couple little things !” and the things he changed are like HUGE??????? So him saying that makes me skeptical again about the nuance of the abuse here.)
I also have some concerns bc some of the show’s team has worked on other titles that were about toxic male antiheros and there are definitely moments in those shows where you can’t tell if the writers are aware of themselves. IE: Tony Soprano is a racist bad guy who kills people and cheats on his wife, and yet there are still occasional narratives on The Sopranos that show the creators also had some of those same biases, and you must wonder if some of Tony’s actions or behavior weren’t intended to be catalogued in the ways he’s very evil.
So looking at the way they’re speaking about Lestat’s characterization, that they’re referring to it as a romance, and some of the patterns in their other work I do have concerns about how the abuse will be portrayed. I also worry about how the abuse will play on screen now that there is an added racial element, and if it will be too cruel or edge into messages that feel too real and hurtful to the audience. And, to circle back lmao, I’m not uncomfortable with objectionable morals in my fiction, but, some nuance would be good.
Don’t get me wrong like I hope the ship on the TV show is like ABUSIVE and SEXY and I hope Louis is like HORNY and TRAPPED because he knows he should leave but he CANNOT! And I want there to be some steamy frustrated hatesex! And huge fights and makeup sex! LOL. But yeah I mean, pretending that Loustat is wholesome is a complete joke, and I really really hope that the show doesn’t misunderstand Loustat to a point where they aren’t aware of what they’re really portraying. LET THE STORY BE ABUSIVE BUT PLEASE BE AWARE OF YOURSELF!
(Anne could have used this advice too in the second half of the series LMAO whoops but I think having that nuance would ultimately make these stories even richer. HERE I AM COMPLAINING ABOUT CANON NONCOMPLIANCE EXCEPT MAKING AN EXTREMELY UNAWARE PORTRAYAL OF ABUSE IS COMPLETELY CANON, my bad.)
And basically like. If it’s not going to be those things I’m just back to wondering why they wanted to adapt this book? So far the only thing in common with canon is like… New Orleans???? An interview of some type will take place? They have the same names?
So it’s hard to hear the team talk about how respectful they are of the book when…. They’re not keeping anything from the book? LOL. What exactly did you see in this story that you wanted to express? I don’t get it. 😂 And I would hate for a book about morally dubious characters and abusive romances to be like, a campy vampire romance without any of those questions and themes.
I’m not saying any of this to nitpick or be needlessly negative; I’m saying it to say it’s some of the things I’ve been wondering and some of the clues I’ve been looking for during the past year to see what exactly is going on with this show LOL. Again, I don’t think the trailer told us enough to know. I’ve been critical and looking for these things and genuinely don’t have a solid opinion yet because I haven’t gotten enough information. Lestat is certainly being extremely predatory and he looks unhinged as fuck so that’s a good sign LMAO. Louis even refers to it in the voiceover as being “hunted”, so it’s nice to know that he feels that way with 100 years of perspective. But we’ll have to wait and see!
I think at this point I’m really hoping for like HANNIBAL LEVEL fuckery and like that type of unhinged gaslighting and manipulation LOL and I think Hannibal was about as far from canon as VCTV looks so far. I’m just doing my best to compartmentalize and be fair about the show while also acknowledging my extremely deep disappointment that we waited 5 years for WOLFKILLER STUFF AND NICKI only to be given an AU fanfic lol. And like, I give Hannibal a bit of a pass because by the time that show came out there had already been like 5 movies made of that franchise and they were mostly faithful so like at that point the idea had already been explored and it was time to remix. I don’t feel VC has ever gotten that shot yet so it’s sad that they went straight for a remix :(
anyway sorry, I disappeared off tumblr for years but I apparently still answer anons with exceedingly meandering essays, I have no idea if this answered what you were asking but LOL YOLO ✌️

What’s going on in the dinluke fandom? I heard about people being upset about Luke being feminine in the pairing and… chopped it up to “oh, just curate what content you see-“ but I keep seeing people bring up racism and xenophobia and I’m so lost… it’s like I log out for a day or two and the world explodes
Oh, anon. You don’t even want to know. Just pick out the people you want to follow and block the others (even if I’m one of them). But I’ll try to sum up the issue as fairly as I can, though I have my own opinions and this will hardly be unbiased.
And I’ll also say up top that, if y’all don’t want to listen to what I have to say (I guess understandable because I’m One of the Bads, apparently), then at least read this post (not mine) about fandom in general. There are so many babies being thrown out right now.
First, a tl;dr, with admittedly less “fairness” than I’ll expand upon later because I’m mixing opinions in here
Some people think that Pedro Pascal being Latine/Latinx automatically makes him a person of color despite him being very white and also vocally identifying as such
Some people feel that this makes any “bad guy” alternate interpretations of Din Djarin inherently racist
Some people think that tagging is poorly done or purposefully ignored to “trick” people into reading content they are uncomfortable with
Some people feel that Luke being the common fandom bottom and sometimes being depicted in dresses or other gender non-conforming ways is problematic and/or feel uncomfortable with said portrayal
Some people think that the correct way to “drive away” creators whose content they dislike (or whom associate with people whose content they dislike) is to be “loud and mean” to “get rid of them”
So let’s break that down further (again, as fairly as I possibly can). I will be referring to specific people here and there, but none by name. And admittedly, I talk a lot about my own opinions and actions (though I don’t know what else I could do?). Also this is LONG.
First, a disclaimer. I’m a mod in the Star Dads Dinluke Discord server. This does NOT give me a position of authority in fandom, and the opinions stated in here are solely my own. This topic is welcome to be discussed in said server (though, admittedly, we did push the most recent Tumblr blow-up into a thread so those who don’t want to engage can easily avoid it). The one thing that isn’t allowed is active disparagement of individuals.
We’ve put a lot of work into building up a community the last few months, and learned a lot of lessons from the previous Boots & Beskar server in ways to proactively manage content to make things as comfortable for as many people as possible. That’s beyond the scope of this post to detail, however. We also do not consider ourselves “THE Dinluke Server”, just one of them.
Racism/Xenophobia
This hinges upon the idea that Pedro Pascal is a person of color. Therefore, if Din does something bad or evil, like act as the aggressor in a noncon story, the action is inherently racist. This ends up painting a lot of actions with a very broad brush. It is easy to go “I don’t like this portrayal of someone whose actor I feel is a person of color therefore it must be inherently racist to portray them as such.”
And it’s very easy to go “oh, this is racist? I don’t want to be racist, so I should be against it!” Especially on Tumblr, the home of quickly reblogging things without full context. Most people are good and want to treat people with kindness. If those of us in the US have learned anything over… our country’s entire history, it’s not enough to just be “not racist” but we need to be actively anti-racist.
That being said, I disagree that “dark” portrayals of Din are inherently racist in the first place. That does not come from nowhere. As I mentioned in another post, my response the first time I saw this perspective was to find as many Latine/Latinx voices as I could and listen to them. I know that it is not possible to be “just not racist” in an inherently racist society, and that to be anti-racist is to listen and learn when you hear that something may be hurtful. Some of these voices were anonymous individuals reaching out to me, some are people whose names I know but will not be sharing. Some enjoyed “dark” content, some could not stand it and thought it was revolting.
No demographic is a monolith and no individual can speak for the entirety of their own. But the vast majority of people I have listened to and spoken with on this specific issue have come away with “White Latine/Latinx people have an extremely different lived experience than those of color.” Pedro Pascal has taken great pains to explicitly state that he fully identifies as a white Latino, and to dismiss his personal racial and ethnic identity because of one’s personal discomfort with fandom is… pretty fucking gross, I’m not going to lie!
I’m not going to sit here and argue that there is never racism in fandom. There often is, especially amongst fans, but the frenzy whipped up because a handful of people have Declared This is Racist is solving and will solve nothing.
I believe that the majority of people taking a stand “against racism in Dinluke” have good hearts and good intentions. I think that it is difficult to effect change out in meatspace, and so it becomes tempting to try to make waves where you think you will be heard. But when this is done based on little evidence (and at least a little shouting over top of Latine/Latinx voices, as we saw this past weekend), then we’re not effecting good change. This is also an approach that extremely centers US people and our sensibilities about racism.
But I also know that there are a few people out there, not many, who are just latching onto the “racist” label because they don’t enjoy one thing or another and want to tear it down. They are disingenuous and move the goalposts or change the topic entirely when confronted with even the softest suggestion that they might not be entirely in the right. They know how easy it is to get people on their side by making a claim of racism, and whether they do it on purpose or not, that’s fandom poison.
Tagging
The short summation of this issue is that there are tags some feel are “code tags” for dark content and that tagging is sometimes inaccurate. The implication is that creators do this on purpose to trick people into reading things that will upset them. In light of this, there was a post this weekend that was “definitely not a call out post even though [they] named names” that was, purportedly aimed at helping people identify dark content.
I’m not going to pretend tagging is perfect. It’s not, and it will never be because humans are imperfect. While tagging is a courtesy, it’s a common courtesy the way not spitting on the sidewalk is a common courtesy. Therefore I think that, as a creator, it’s important to be willing to listen to and accept polite requests for additional tags. I spend a lot of time carefully considering tags and additional warnings in my works (even and especially the ones that are not “dark”), but sometimes even that’s not enough. Personally, I’m always willing to update tags if I missed something obscure. We’re only human.
However, that only goes to polite requests for tagging. I’ve seen a lot of noise about tags that “should be” innocuous like “Cinnamon Roll Luke Skywalker” (which, as of this writing, there are precisely 32 Dinluke fics with that tag, hardly the purported “flood”) being “code tags” and like… that’s not even a thing. Authors want to tag accurately not only to help protect readers but so that their intended audience can find their work! I have no way to know this, but it feels to me like a group chat got carried away with the concept of “code tags” to the point where they fully convinced themselves that it was a thing.
Tags are a tool for you to use to curate your experiences. I think it’s a horrible event if a creator misses one and that results in someone being triggered, but it doesn’t make the act malicious. It makes it a mistake, an oversight, one that can be corrected by coming together in a constructive way. I have made this point many times before.
I will also say that I deeply resent the way the tagging topic is playing out, not because there’s not a problem (we can make it smaller but, again, not perfect) but because it groups everyone who has ever participated in dark content into a strange monolith. Like, the argument about “Dead Dove Do Not Eat” not being enough on its own has some merit, sure. But it is another sign to be on your guard. And only one person ever has made the argument otherwise (though I think they were responding quickly and with more forethought would have said something different). And yet, every time this comes up now, every single person who has ever participated in dark content is accused of holding this opinion. Or that we’re intentionally leaving stuff untagged to trick people.
This generalization is flat out not true, and as someone who takes triggers very seriously and works hard to accommodate people as well as I can, frankly, it’s hurtful. I know that was the goal of some people and, well, mission accomplished, I guess.
In the end, no single tag can exist in a vacuum. You, as a reader, are responsible for reading and considering every tag (and author’s notes, as authors sometimes expand on potential triggers that only apply to single chapters instead of the whole work) in order to keep yourself safe. I, and honestly just about everyone, are more than happy to expand on our list of “default tags” when someone points out something new. We’ll touch on that again in a bit.
I have also had a conversation with someone complaining about “neutral” tags being mixed in with dark ones and like…that’s what the Exclude Tags option is for. Their response was “I shouldn’t have to do that.”
Yes. You should. You are not entitled to a uniquely curated experience with no work on your part. You can reach out for help to make it better, sure, but you have to put in some effort.
Feminine Luke
This got brought up in response to my post I mentioned above in a roundabout way. The short version (as I understand it) is that some people, especially queer men, dislike the feminization of men in MLM fanworks. At least one person has decided Dinluke is not for them based on this discomfort.
I have said before, and will continue to say, that no one is wrong for feeling a certain way, only for how they act on it.
This didn’t sit well with me, but I’m not a queer man so I said nothing for a long while. It was not until I spoke to other queer men, nonbinary people, and trans men on the issue that I made up my mind. Disavowing feminized fictional men entirely and dogpiling on people who enjoy it isn’t an answer (and to be clear, the person I mentioned above who disliked the tropes is not dogpiling on anyone). That runs the risk of veering hard into cisnormativity if not outright transphobia. There are a million ways to handle gender identity, some of which will make some uncomfortable while at the same time affirming and lifting up others. There is not a correct way to do gender.
But what we can do is identify it better (tags, again!). I, personally, am determined to tag any content that has Luke in a dress or something similar with “gender non-conforming/gnc Luke Skywalker” (or “gender non-conforming/gnc Din Djain” but that’s nowhere near as common). Here and on AO3. And, hey, if people really enjoy those takes then that will make them easier to find, too.
I don’t think that’s the end of the issue, but it’s what I could think of to do to make people more comfortable. I’m not really sure what else to say about the point that isn’t covered in the first post I linked at the beginning — who gets to decide who Is and Isn’t allowed to write about certain things? Where’s the line?
This Past Weekend and What Can We Do?
(TW: DESCRIPTIONS OF DEATH THREATS IN FIRST TWO PARAGRAPHS, YES REALLY)
Regardless of intentions, there was a post last weekend that kicked off an intense round of hatred and bullying. I do not use those words lightly. Before I went scorched earth, I saw active calls to get meaner and meaner, and literal wishes/threats of physical harm. Most of the latter were in tags, including “I wish all dark content creators would drop dead”, “I hope [Specific Creator] chokes”, and my absolute favorite “If you put Luke in a dress I will kill you.”
I’m not going to get into a blow-by-blow because, frankly, I blocked everyone even tangentially related to the issue and stopped following along after that last threat. I’m sure I caught some people in blocks unfairly, and I might reconsider those, but when we get to making threats to real people over fictional characters, that’s when I drop out.
There were also a lot of disingenuous arguments or points that were meant well but not articulated fairly, to the point where it felt pointless to even start to say anything back. I made one untagged post on my own blog, got one vaguely bad faith anon ask about it, then a bunch of actual anon hate before I turned off anon for a few days. I don’t even want to know how bad it would have been if I hadn’t done that. So, there hasn’t been a lot from the “other side.” I guess that’s what this post is, but to be honest, I really don’t want to be a voice for a given argument. I want to make fanworks, prop up a community (Star Dads), and give a heads up (tags) so that people can avoid my stuff if they want. But it also feels shitty not to say anything directly.
I have lost so much respect for people whose work I used to enjoy and that makes me sad. There has never been what I can consider a good faith hand reaching out for a dialogue. The closest I have ever had was in a round of DMs months back with someone I thought was kind and a friend. We laid out our sides (mine was that supporting better tagging was all that was reasonable because otherwise where does one draw the line?), had what I thought was a very amicable conversation, and then a week later, I was blocked. I later found out they were claiming that they tried to start a dialogue but no one wanted to. I think that interaction is the one that hurt the most. And I’m aware I’ve centered myself pretty hard in the last couple of paragraphs, but it seems relevant.
So, how does a fandom move forward from something like this? Some will say that the only way is for anyone who likes “dark” stuff to disappear from it, but that’s just not going to happen. Even if everyone who currently writes it gives up and goes away, there will be others.
Dark content is an inherent part of fandom because it is an inherent part of fiction. People explore their their trauma, the taboo, and the just plain weird in all sorts of ways. No one has to enjoy any of it, and while it is kind to tag hard sometimes things slip through. That doesn’t make anyone’s hurt over a missing tag any less important, but it should make it more understandable.
(TW brief mention of DV in next paragraph)
Personally, I put a lot of things I’m uncomfortable with in my work. I don’t like choking, sexual or otherwise, due to past DV but I’ve written a bad guy choking a good guy nearly to the point of passing out. It was awful to write, painful to edit, but the correct choice for the scene. I think the story is better for it. I bring it up because it’s a relatively “innocent” form of trauma. You would have never known I was assaulted if I had not just told you, and frankly, I resent that I felt the need to share it publicly at all.
No one should have to perform their trauma for you before being allowed to write about it. No one. Nor is trauma the only valid reason to write about something. I have mentioned elsewhere that my primary (though not only) interest in dark sexual content is my interest in BDSM, which I won’t go over in detail again here.
Again, What Can We Do?
The best that can be done, in my opinion, is constructive conversations around tagging (instead of the bizarre blame game that happened last weekend). I think underage content is disgusting and would never read it, but I think that teens should be allowed to write high school AUs that include first times. I don’t ship Vader/Luke or Luke/Leia, but since it’s fictional, I really don’t care if others do. I don’t read hyper-violent torture fics, but the idea that they exist doesn’t bother me.
I sometimes wonder if Dinluke is people’s literal first fandom because a lot of this is stuff that’s been argued about ad nauseum for literal decades. Our tools have gotten better (AO3), but there’s always someone who wants everyone to follow their personal sensibilities. Sometimes, they have somewhat of a point and we can adjust around it, most of the time the purported line is arbitrary. I do not get to decide what is Acceptable or Unacceptable, and neither do you. All we can do is mark it to help each other navigate the content.
We should all be capable of admitting that not everything is for us, and sometimes we have to do some legwork to find things that are.
And while you should always take accusations of racism seriously (even if they’re worded cruelly), not every accusation is accurate even if it is well-meant. Center the voices of people actually affected by a given issue instead of your own if you are not in the relevant demographic (even if you are a visible minority in another sense).
If you want to take an ACTUAL stand against racism, consider donating to a local mutual aid fund. Local action is the most effective in combating real world inequity. If you cannot afford to donate money, consider donating your time instead. Or, if you are a content creator, consider a charity commission slot where the proceeds go somewhere worthwhile. I leave it to you to decide what mission you find worthwhile.
I realize that sounds very “kumbaya let’s all come together” but there is really no other way to co-exist. And refusing to do so and trying to chase people out will never work long-term. I’ll continue to do my best to tag and indicate where my work might be upsetting, dark or not (btw, on Tumblr I try to do individual tags but all of my dark content is tagged with “tw dark content” filter once and it’s gone). I know several others who will do the same. I will not bow to outside pressure to stop writing because others dislike it, they don’t have to read it and I've put a lot of effort into making sure they can't accidentally stumble on it. I’ll keep propping up the community I volunteer my time to because I enjoy it and I think it’s a net positive.
What about a Dialogue?
I wish we could have one. I hope we can, in the future. But right now there’s no way. Not until things die down and people decide to come at this with calmer heads. I’m turning off replies on this post and, once again, turning off my anon ask box. If my relatively innocuous opinions in my last post about this got a bunch of hate, I can only imagine how bad this one will be.
I don’t like thinking that. I want to believe the best of people. But I was proven extremely wrong recently, and I’m not ready to trust again. All I ask is that, especially if you have disagreed with me in the past or personally dislike me, try to keep an open mind. Even if you don’t change your mind in the end, entertain the concept at least in private.
But What Can We Do Right Now?
Make more of what you want to see. Seriously. If you're self conscious about your abilities, I get it, but make it shitty on purpose. The next draft can improve it. There are so many unfilled niches in Dinluke, find yours and fill it.
You just might find out that you have a blast with it and make some new friends.

I think I used to follow your old blog, and I have some good faith questions: 1. What made you become more incluse IRT to LGBT discourse? 2. Do you consider "bi/mspec dyke" to be separate from "bi/mspec lesbian"? (I personally do think bi women can use butch/femme or reclaim dyke but consider these different and the latter concept is harmful) 3. Why are you against trans-friend radfems/gender criticals? (not radfem, I'm critical of them) 4. Do you consider Febfem problematic by proxy?
you mean p-c? yeah. fun fact: i actually plan to move again once i turn 18 in a few months.
anyways this post took me a while to write lmao, i wanted to make sure i got everything down perfectly, both so that it helps you and so that i can refer back to it in the future.
1. this post should answer your first question, though i think i forgot to include that the bi community has always been tied in solidarity with other queer communities that are often excluded (such as ace/aro + trans), and biphobia more often than not parallels harmful rhetoric to other ‘xphobias’ that lie outside of the LG(B). if exclusionists successfully eliminate the TQIA+, then no matter what they tell you or genuinely believe about themselves, they’re not gonna stop there. bisexuals are inevitably next, whether it’s right at the front of the line or somewhere down along it.
2. that same post mentions and explains why i don’t actively have anything against ‘mspec’/bi lesbians. i consider it a separate identity from ‘bi dyke’ because that’s how labels work, every label is a little different from another and definitions + experiences simply vary from person to person. however, functionally, no i don’t consider them any different. people can be and are bi lesbians for the exact same reason(s) that they can be and are bi dykes, and you can’t easily argue for or against one without inherently doing the same for the other. if you’re really, genuinely interested in my thoughts on this since you’re asking in good faith, i would personally recommend this post + this tag, which both explain how being an ‘mspec’ lesbian actually works. it’s also important to remember that ‘lesbian’ used to mean all wlw/nblw/sapphics and belonged to us too before it didn’t, which we didn’t actually have any say in. if you agree that the separatism movement was harmful to bisexual women, and that bisexual women also have the right to claim butch and femme for ourselves due to them having been our terms while we were considered lesbians, then everything falls apart and becomes inconsistent when you don’t agree with bi women also being lesbians if they so choose to be. it’s that simple, honestly.
3. because radfems and gender-criticals don’t support trans(-identified) people back. all trans people, be them transfem, transmasc, transneu, or anything else along the spectrum, are victims of this type of activism and always have been. i think it’s okay and acceptable to have basic views that align with women’s liberation and combatting worldwide misogynistic oppression without aligning with radfems directly, since they have an inherent connotation as their own separate group of activists that harm others just by being associated with the idea. whether or not you believe in trans rights and, by extension, whether or not you put a disclaimer that you believe in trans rights, you’re still signing up to hurt trans people by proclaiming yourself a radfem. that’s part of the contract, especially since many of them have recently admitted on twitter that the most important priority of feminism is taking down “gender ideology”, rather than most common feminist factors that address fighting in favor of women across the world. to be quite honest, i don’t have the means to strongly expand on exactly how trans activism is incompatible with radfem activism, but i’m sure blogs such as @genderkoolaid could hit the nail on the head with it for you!
4. if you haven’t already guessed following the third question, realistically yes i do. theoretically i think it shouldn’t, as to me it’s a nice-looking and nice-sounding label, as well as the fact being that there’s nothing wrong with being a bisexual woman seeking to date only other women ─ that’s what i do myself, which is exactly why i coined camellian! but, again, ‘febfem’ is a label that is inherently by nature tied with radical feminism and gender criticism (and any belief system or passive alliance related to them).  the community was created by and for those people (i’m positive this is one of the very first posts regarding the term - the one in the screenshot, anyway), which makes it harmful to position yourself with. i do like the flags though, and their creativity.
i hope this helps! i’m not even sure how much i trust some random anon in my inbox (lol lmao) but all of the information i shared is stuff i’ve posted about before, so i tried to be as honest and open as possible with it.
RADFEMS + GENCRITS DO NOT INTERACT. DO NOT COMMENT, DO NOT REBLOG, I WILL BLOCK AND NOT RESPOND. THIS IS A BOUNDARY THAT I EXPECT YOU TO BE ABLE TO RESPECT. LEAVE ME ALONE AND I WILL LEAVE YOU ALONE. I AM NOT ATTACKING YOU SO THERE’S NO NEED TO ENGAGE. JUST BLOCK ME FIRST AND MOVE ON. THANKS.
i don’t want to see lots of red-highlighted tumblr blogs in my mentions and i don’t have the energy to argue, so just fuck off for the love of god!

Hi! I hope you’re doing well and I absolutely adore your stories, really. You’re an amazing person and I can see it.
As a fellow writer I just feel like asking you a question or so.
See, I’ve written like 30-40 or so full fics within the span of half a year or so, right. I even have a few series on my acc that I’ve spent so much of my time on. All of my stories, I enjoy writing them but then when I post them I don’t get much likes or reblogs. Like when I look at the graph it’s always so low.
What do you think I should do to be doing better? Or is it all just chance and luck?
Thank you!!<3
Hi anon! To answer your question, it's not necessarily all up to chance and luck especially on a platform like tumblr. To get higher interactions and to reach a bigger pool of people you should consider a few things!
One: what fandom youre writing for. Generally, to gauge at how active your fandom fanfic community is, check two things; top posts of all year under the most commonly used tag and top recent posts. On moablr, I wouldnt consider a post with 300-500 notes flopping and anything beyond that interval is big on here. In other fandoms, especially bigger ones, this information might be different so considering your fandom base is important in managing your expectations.
Two: what tags you're using. tags are very very important on tumblr. for txt, txt smut tag is the most followed versus using something like tomorrow x together smut. Don't use broad tags either, it wont get you that many interactions. For example, something like kpop smut isn't gonna do much for you.
Tags that work for me in relation to txt smut work: #txt smut, #txt hard thoughts, #txt hard hours, #txt x reader - also if it's not ot5 add the members name in place of txt for example: #yeonjun smut.
Tags I've seen people use that don't work: #txt x gn!reader or anything that identifies the reader like plus size!reader in tags just wont reach that many people.
Also, if you write things like hybrid and sub!idol I'd recommend to use those in tags! Though it seems broad, most people who follow these tags read anything regardless if it's within their fandom space or not.
Three: you have to consider your writing. Too many gramatical mistakes, too niche, the length- all those things matter. If you're writing in English make sure your writing is cohesive and easily understandable. I would say to stay away from writing abbreviations in dialogue or in your writing, things like "tbh" or "bcs" is a little amateurish and might put some people off if it's repeated throughout your work. Just make sure it's decently consistent. And also!! Cant stress this enough but if you're writing a full fic be mindful to not have a lot of very long paragraphs.
If you're too niche, like what you're writing is a fantasy world building driven sex dungeon, there might not be that much demand. I'm not saying to stop writing things that interest you or adjust your hobby to what people want, it's just that the more genre your fic falls under, the more niche it'll get. Meaning a smaller audience. Yandere and dubcon will always appeal to a smaller amount of people so keep that in mind.
When it comes to length, it's not that big of a deal but it might sabotage you. The longer it is, usually the less people interested. Especially if it's smut. Anything over 25k might be too much. Now on the other hand, a fic really small (like a sentence or two so basically a blurb) might not catch someone's attention enough to hit like or reblog. 1k-4k word counts is desired.
This also has to do with summaries, avoid very long summaries. Two to three sentences would do.
Four: how your fics look. check the layouts of your fics, and then compare it to everyone else's. I'm not saying it has to look the prettiest or be very neat, but adding pictures to your fics especially on tumblr REALLY helps with engagement. I also recommend using simple dividers and not to use different fonts for titles, especially tumbrs cursive one. Either three icons that are cohesive with the other or a header that's the size or a little bigger than twt headers dimension.
Five: what's popular on tumblr. This goes hand in hand with the niche point I made earlier but making the switch to x reader instead of a named oc genuinely makes a very, very big difference. Switching from first person narrative to 2nd person, so instead of writing in "I, me, we" use you and your. This also makes a difference.
That's all I think might be hindering your amount of interactions, tags I'd consider the most important. If you want tkwo build a more dedicated followg, I'd recommend opening your requests!

I (a grown ass man) threw a child (16m) out twice and told him he was exactly like his father who is a deadbeat alcoholic just because he made a few mistakes. Later when he got out of juvie (after I got him arrested) I showed concern for one second then left him with an abusive war criminal because of a handshake deal. Gotta be honest, I don’t know why he didn’t come crawling back to me.
Months later he assaulted a kid (16m) by forcefully shaving his head, therefore stripping him of his identity. Yes I could have shown concern here for both boys but instead I decided to water down the assault and poach said child who had just been stripped of his identity. And because I’m the worst sensei ever, I also decided to use his karate to win a tournament instead of actually training my own boys.
Anyway, said tournament comes around. Turns out boy I threw out twice taught others my karate. Clearly this is more important than assaulting another kid and I treated it as such. I went up to him and proceeded to be a total dick about it (please do ignore the fact that I have no problem using other people’s karate to win tournaments, it’s just a very horrible thing when someone uses my karate). And finally, when assaulted kid had to face off with the guy who assaulted him, I told “don’t put passion over principle you’re such a horrible person”. Oh do I apply this principle to myself ever? No. But this kid is the bane of Satan so 🤷‍♀️. AITA?
TL;DR: I am the worst sensei in the world. AITA?

Quick reminders to new people stretching out here on Tumblr!
Feel free to lurk, but mark your account with a post or something olsaying so! Empty, uncustomized blogs are usually assumed to be bots, and people may block you if they see a follow from a crystal-clean blog.
You don’t need anything big: a series of Likes in a consistent theme (lots of memes, a favorite blorbo, etc) with a few outside interests helps your blog look more human.
If you want to participate in Tumblr: Reblog, don’t Like! Empty reblogs from even quiet accounts spread the OP’s thoughts better than a Like!
There is no algorithm. The only way to find stuff you like and spread stuff you enjoy is to use tags, follow people, and reblog.
If you’re interested in a real-world topic, look for “Actually [Community]” tags. That’s Tumblrina code for “I identify as a member of this community,” instead of an outsider discussing the topic. Outsiders are (usually!) welcome engaging with “Actually [Community]” posts, but just tagging as “[Community]” if you add to the discussion is a sign if respect.
You don’t have to tag, but if you do, use the full word! Tumblr has a very good filtering system in place, but people can only use it if they know what to filter. You’re not going to get in trouble saying “rape” or “death” here, but writing “r@pe” or “unalive” means someone might get your post despite filtering for triggering content!
If you tag and you think a post has triggering content, “TW [topic]” or “CW [topic]” are the typical ways of marking it for filtering. TW = Trigger Warning, CW= Content Warning.
Type your topic in the tags, and check what’s suggested; you’ll see the most common tw descriptions if you’re unsure.
Have fun in Tumblr! We’re insane, but you might just find your own breed of insanity to enjoy!
