Some headcanon info dump for Dislyte Chai, Javid and Jin Qiu.

More will probably be added on, so this will be updated whenever I think of more stuff to add.

* Chai being a hybrid (mountain lion/wolf) she's sheds a lot during spring time, which means a lot of grooming, to which she despises but Javid and Jin hold her down and do it for her because they hate all the fur (I would assume JQ sheds but not as much).

* Since all three have claws, claws covers are a common item as to try not to tear up bedding and such (tho all 3 hate it but also don't like constantly buying new bed sheets).

* Chai being more of a tomboy, she isn't one for girly stuff, but she is more than willing to help Javid (or JQ) with their hygiene and appearance

* Chai and JQ have similar chaotic energy while Javid is calmer. Javid is the referee for the two when they get into heated arguments and resolve by fighting it out (hand to hand, no weapons).

* Chai and Javid have more of a romantic relationship. Chai and JQ are more 'friends with benefits' relationship, but they do have their tender moments. Javid and Chai will purposely get all mushy in front of JQ as it annoys him.

* All three do engage in sexual threesomes

* Chai being part wolf, she does have some characteristics, such as having a strong sense of smell and excellent hearing. This annoys the boys as she over hears their convos and can tell when they are cooking what ingredients they should add

* Chai having huge fangs, she has to wear 'fang cushions' while sleeping

* The food truck Chai owns and operates is more stationary than movable. She operates in her backyard , which she turned into an outdoor restaurant (covers, heaters and such are available so she can operate in all weather). It can be moved but it's a hassle.

* Javid and Chai both love to BBQ so they each encourage the other while also taking turns cooking.

* Chai does hunt, so whenever hunting season is open, she will leave to hunt what she can. Her food truck is Mexican style but with a twist depending on the type of meat she can hunt (elk, deer, bear, duck, fish, etc.). She does offer carne asada, chicken and pork but it's the other meat that draws people in.

* Height in order goes: Javid, Chai then JQ.

* Javid and JQ have strength advantage, Chai is built for speed.

* Chai is extremely ticklish, and the boys know this, so unfortunately, Chai tends to lose wrestle fights due to this disadvantage.

* Chai is a stoner (4/20 all the way) and using Marijuana as a way to relax. Javid and JQ aren't fond of the smell but understand how it helps her.

* All three do sleep together. Imagine 3 big cats curled up with one another.

* Chai enjoys fall and winter so she is outside more often during those seasons. She has the fur to withstand the cold and snow. Javid can't really stand the cold, while JQ kinda can but doesn't like it.

* All 3 can hold their alcohol pretty well.

* Chai does have 2 older brothers and a mother. Her father passed away when she was twelve. Her brothers do have families of their own, so she is also an auntie.

* Chai, unfortunately, can't reproduce. Before she gained her esper powers, she had a life-threatening medical emergency that involved a hysterectomy and her ovaries being removed.

*Chai has recently had to wear glasses. It runs in her family so it's genetic. She isn't a fan and the boys each have their own opinion about her glasses. Javid think she looks cute, JQ makes fun of her.

*JQ and Chai are a dangerous combo. JQ having some loose screws and Chai having a rebellious side, the two together bring stupidity to another level. Poor Javid has to deal with this chaotic combo.

*Chai and Javid love language is very tender and sweet. From hand holding, random pecks of kisses, and cuddling. For them, it's the small gestures that mean a lot more than words.

* Chai and JQ have more of a tease type relationship. They are always annoying each other, critiquing, poking fun, and calling each other names. Others might think they are being mean to each other, but it's quite the opposite.

*Flirting is different between all three. JQ is EXTREMELY flirtatious to both Javid and Chai, and it works. Javid is more action over words flirting. Chai is a combo of both.

*All three can cook, each having their own specialties. Javid is more BBQ, open fire/grill. JQ is more seafood/Asian cuisine. Chai can cook pretty much anything, but she can't bake to save her life.

*Proper visual aid to show height differences between all three

"Death Cat" form

*Death Cat form is a transformation that turns Chai into a monster like creature (all black, skull head, ribs poking out)

*She can only transform with strong emotions (it's hard for her to do so willing)

*She is technically blind while in this form but can 'see' divine power auras and blood

*Her making her enemies bleed is essential (this helps her in certain situations; she can smell blood, so if she loses her glasses/contacts, she can sniff someout out)

*Chai can only last in this form for 10 minutes. Going over will cause her esper sync rate to rise, and she has a high chance of going insane and can't revert back

*While transforming requires strong emotions (more so anger), she needs to calm down before being able to revert back. She has found familiar smells can bring her to her senses, so she relies a lot on Javid and JQ to help her

It’s no bother!! I love getting requests from you guys! The more, the merrier. I sort of hc that the brothers and MC do have movie night every week or so and with them being demons, they tend to levitate towards the horror genre. Thank you for sending this, this is really cute :)))

The Brothers watching Scary movies with MC:

Lucifer:

-Haha mf already knows how this is going to end

-He warned you, he really did

-The horror movies DevilDom has to offer are nothing, and I mean nothing, like the ones from the human world

-I’m not going to go into detail but imagine Two Girls One Cup, in a less kinky and more gorey way (then times that by 10)

-But you were adamant into giving it a go and he literally could not deny you in that moment

-Because you were giving him the puppy eyes

-That’s like, the finishing blow you use every time to get your way with him and as far as you know it’s the only one that works so-

-He expected your reaction to the last second

-You were traumatised for lack of a better word and you were basically watching the whole film through the cracks between your fingers

-Seeing you in that state was like a punch in the gut but he couldn’t stop himself from throwing in a subtle ‘I told you so’

-“I told you watching something like this before bed is a bad idea, MC.”

-He might be a bit condescending and judgemental at first, but he’s probably going to baby you a bit for the rest of the night

-Because he feels bad he allowed you to watch it in the first place

-HAHAHAHA SOFT LUCIFER HAS BEEN SUMMONED, USE HIM WISELY

-He will start muttering words of comfort to you later because he’s certain you’re going to have trouble sleeping

-Because of that one time, he’s very hesitant to let you watch another horror film anytime soon

-But he will relent eventually (especially if you want to watch a human horror film as those are technically less extreme)

-If it makes you happy, he will go through with it, even if he has to let you cling onto him for the rest of the day

-Besides, the way you cuddle into him while you’re watching a horror film is very cute and endearing to him

Mammon:

-Ah yes, the most effective method of waking up the entire House of Lamentation at 3:00 am

-Mammon screaming his own vocal cords out in his room as he tries to get through his human’s favourite horror movie without dying of a heart attack

-It was his idea because he’s definitely the type to go: “Yeah let’s do this, it will be fun. Don’t get too scared alright MC? The Great Mammon will be here to protect ya.”

-And then ten minutes in, he’s basically in your lap

-Half an hour in, he turned himself into a demon burrito with his blankets

-You were enjoying the movie, laughing at the stupid sound effects and poor quality while Mammon next to you has wrapped himself in like two dozen blankets and pillows

-“Mammon you’re going to overheat.”

-“Don’t be silly human, I’m a demon who lives in hell. I can take high temperatures the same way I can take this damn movie!”

-He doesn’t take either of them well

-Mammon and the horror genre don’t mix well together to begin with

-So even if you might enjoy horror, he doesn’t react well to it at all

-And he’ll be low-key relieved if you tell him you guys don’t have to watch any sort of horror film for your date night

-“Well I guess if you don’t want to, then we don’t have to. Can’t make my human do something they’re uncomfortable with eh?”

-But if you do watch a scary movie with him, be sure to show any sort of physical affection to him as often as possible

-You don’t have to say anything, just hold his hand or let him put his head in your lap or something

-It might stop him from screeching like a female sloth in heat

-The last time that happened, his brothers weren’t too pleased with him

-They about to recreate the horror film scenes onto him, bring the popcorn have fun

Levi:

-For some reason, I feel like he doesn’t get scared easily while watching stuff

-I mean, after decades of obsessively watching animes with brutal character deaths (like Attack on Titan style) and grotesque horror games that are pretty nasty even to demons, let alone humans;

-A horror film, from the human world or even DevilDom, doesn’t do much for him

-It will have to have very good psychological horror in it if you want the hairs on his arms to stand up in anticipation

-Tension is a big deal for him and he will immediately shut off the TV if there are any cheap jump scares

-But, if you manage to find just the right thing for him?

-You’ll both be hiding under the bed in no time under the bathtub more like

-Hell, if the film you’re watching is that good, he might even be holding onto you for dear life without realising it and getting flustered about it

-For weeks afterwards, any sound that is remotely similar to one from that movie will probably send both of you into panic

-You came to his room one night because you’ve had a nightmare about the stupid film and legitimately thought there was a fucking demon serial killer in your room

-So you wanted to stay in his

-“But what if there is a serial killer in your room and now you just led it to me MC????”

-It’s all jokes, there’s no question he would lock both of you in his room and then stay there with you wide awake until dawn

-You’re his best friend after all, he would have to be completely heartless to leave you on your own! (Besides Levi is terrifying when he wants to be)

-One time you were sleeping over and the sound of fumbling woke you tf up

-And Levi immediately turned into his demon form, like he was ready to throw hands with this fictional murderer that supposedly sneaked into his room

-“DON’T WORRY MC, I’LL PROTECT YOU!”

-“Ah never mind, it’s just Mammon breaking into your room again to steal your Ruri-Cham figurines and sell them on Akuzon.”

-“Oh OK.”

-“.....”

-“WAIT MAMMON WTF YOU FUCKING SCUMBAG, GET OUT OF MY ROOM-“

-I’m playing Minecraft

Satan:

-Believe it or not, Satan doesn’t care much about horror movies

-Don’t get me wrong, he loves watching his brothers shit their pants out of fear in the middle of one while he silently smirks to himself because watching other people suffer brings him euphoria

-Especially if someone actually manages to find a film that is excellent enough to spook Lucifer, because then he will be cackLING

-But, overall, he watches a lot of shows revolved around drama and crime

-That’s his thing

-However, he won’t turn you down if you’re up to watching a scary movie with him

-Any time spent with you is valuable time seeing as it won’t be long before his brothers start hogging you again like the cockblockers they are

-He is honestly surprised to find out you seem to be rather amused by those sort of movies

-So, even if it’s not inherently something he does on the regular, he would definitely watch a scary film with you if you enjoy them that much

-But in exchange, he makes you promise to read with him until bedtime rolls around (imagine Lucifer having a fucking curfew for his brothers and you lmao)

-So for the rest of night you guys just read together, ya know, like sappy romantics

-Tbh, this man will do almost anything with you as long as both of you are having fun

-He knows it’s not likely, but he insists on sleeping in the same room that night just in case you have nightmares and he needs to comfort you

-Satan is a gentleman. Idk how many people that don’t play OM expected to hear this

Asmo:

-Why would you want to watch a movie when you could be watching him???

-I mean, you would rather watch all that gory stuff on the TV than his beautiful face?

-He may get salty over a fucking movie tbh

-Horror films aren’t something he generally looks for while trying to pick a movie to watch

-He can definitely handle them better than Mammon but it’s not something he takes great pleasure in watching

-But the first time he ever sits down with you to watch one, he’s very intrigued to see your reactions

-You started feeling the sensation of absolute dread creep in at the very beginning and you were trying your best to act like you weren’t getting affected by what you saw on the screen

-But you were

-You went from “I’m grown ass adult, I can watch a fucking horror movie, no problem.”

-To “Welp, not enough of a grown ass adult for this-“

-And Asmo thought the way you tried to hide your nervousness was very mesmerising in a way

-He was planning on flirting with you during the movie anyway, but now that you were pressing himself against him?

-Oh boy, Oh boy

-“Darling if you wanted to touch me, you could’ve just said so. Making the excuse of watching a movie is unnecessary.”

-Nightmares? What nightmares? You won’t have time to have nightmares ;)

Beel:

-Beel will show up if there’s food and that’s that

-He doesn’t care what type of movie is playing on the TV as long as he has a bucket of popcorn next to him at all times

-Horror films aren’t something he can’t handle, he’s a demon like the rest of his brothers and he is used to...violent deaths and such

-He doesn’t get scared but there are times where he gets attached to the characters

-Especially movies with actual good and not cringeworthy dialogue

-Therefore, when they die, he gets sad even if they’re just fictional and their death had no real impact

-He also thinks that the way you can watch these things without flinching is impressive

-I mean, he can watch it and so can his brothers because they are demons

-They’ve done worse things than the things you see in horror films

-But you’re a human! So it’s weird to see you watch a person get repeatedly slammed against a wall until their neck snaps without batting an eyelid

-Overall, he does not have an opinion on scary movies

-He gets a bit emotional when a character he really liked dies

-But other than that, he’s just focused on eating

-And occasionally patting your head affectionately

Belphie:

-He doesn’t really like horror films because there’s a lot of screaming and tense music and he’s just trying to nap in your lap (rhyme)

-He doesn’t really need sound effects like that in the background while he’s trying to sleep

-But one day he was like “Hey, what if I show my favourite human this particular scary film?”

-And he did

-And he’s internally dying and feeling guilty and yet so flustered because of you

-It’s like you suddenly turn into this very fidgety and anxious mess and he thinks you just look....cute

-At some point you were getting overwhelmed and sprung up on your feet to turn the lights on

-And he just grabbbed your wrists, pulled you down next to him and let you press your head against his chest

-As mentioned, he’s a little shit and will tease you for being such a scaredy cat

-“That was the most predictable jumpscare and you still flinched, wth is wrong with you lmao.”

-But at the same time....

-“Relax. It’s just a horror movie. You’ll be fine. Besides, I’m here. Like I would let something bad happen to you.”

-That’s sweet, even if the tone of voice may not imply it because he’s such a brat-

-He actually really likes holding you for once, because usually he’s the little spoon

-He’s still a bit of a sadist so I imagine him sitting there and watching this while giggling to himself

-Isn’t he the cutest, laughing at other people’s misery and their never ending suffering?🥺🥺🥺 UwU

-Ah well, at least he has the decency to spoil with affection afterwards and make sure you have no nightmares that night

-You know, as payback for the horrific shit he made you watch with no warning

Hi Kat, what do you think of Dumbledore? IMHO, he's one of the most fascinatingly morally grey characters I've ever read about.

A lot of fanfic writers love to bash him and portray him as an idiotic senile old man who likes to poke his nose in others' business. They conveniently forget that he outwitted the most Slytherin out of all of Slytherin House. Granted, Voldemort was amazingly short-sighted and JK could have written a more terrifyingly cunning Dark Lord.

Well, there was Dumbledore’s Wizard Nazi youth with Grindelwald. Perfectly understandable because Ariana's childhood was completely ruined and he learnt just how Muggles can be dangerous. I don't think he ever forgot this epiphany.

For a long time, I wondered how Dumbledore, knowing perfectly well how the Dursleys were pre-disposed to magic, would think they would welcome Harry with open arms. He must have known that emotional abuse and neglect could make Harry an Obscurial. No blood-protection could have ever saved him from that. It's only Harry's innate stubbornness and his contempt of the Dursleys that saved him from what Ariana went through. This is quite possibly the worst thing Dumbledore could have done, along with sending Tom Riddle back to Wool's during the Blitz. Even though it was Dippet who made the decision, he was heavily influenced by Dumbledore and could have, at the very least, arranged to have Tom live in The Leaky Cauldron.

Many times I wondered why Dumbledore didn't simply threaten the Dursleys to treat Harry better. Thinking about it, I could only come to the conclusion that the power disparity between him and the Dursleys made him uncomfortable. As it comes down to, he is a strong wizard who coerced Muggles to look after a child they didn't want.

Another fascinating thing about him is his fear of power. Dumbledore didn't trust himself to hold power and he extended the same mistrust to many others, making himself rather emotionally detached from even those who sincerely loved and admired him. I think Dumbledore trusted himself to do right by the Wizarding World as a whole but not enough for personal gain. Dumbledore was weak to temptations personally (keeping the Invisibility cloak for nearly 10 years and falling prey to the compulsions on the Gaunt Ring when he saw the Resurrection Stone). So I think the only person Dumbledore truly admired and envied was Harry who was strong-willed inna way Dumbledore and Voldemort could never hope to be.

Related ask: I'm very curious if you have any headcannons about grindelwald and dumbledore's relationship that you'd like to share. I've always been drawn to the grindeldore ship for similar reasons that i like tommary (ex: enemies/lovers, moral angst) and i've always been disappointed that so many tommary shippers resent dumbledore, so I really like to hear you talk about the moral complexities of his character (and to hear that someone other than me can sympathize with him lol)

Hope you both don't mind that I combined your asks because parts of them concern the same topic!

First, about Grindelwald and Dumbledore. I like the idea of their relationship, but for some reason, I'm not really interested in them, so I don't have any specific headcanons. I do enjoy the idea that they were It for each other and that they could have made it if given another chance, but both had to be more mature and less obsessed with their life goals. I also tend to think that Dumbledore locked himself away for a while after their duel and cried from heartbreak.

As for Dumbledore as a character: I understand what drives him, the decisions he makes, and I have respect for him and his brilliant mind. I can't say I like him a lot, but I also don't dislike him - in my eyes, his worst actions clash with his most vulnerable moments, and so they balance each other out and my attitude is neutral.

@anyariddle, I fully agree with you about Dumbledore being one of the most fascinating morally grey characters. I'm in awe at how excellent his long-term thinking is and how he's capable of calculating everything years, if not decades, ahead; how coldness co-exists with empathy and deep sorrow.

Personally, I have no doubts that Dumbledore left Harry with the Durlseys deliberately to break him down. He heard Minerva's concerns, he must have conducted his own research. He also had Arabella watch Harry for years, and she definitely saw the abuse and reported everything back to him. But this time, unlike how it was with Tom, I believe Dumbledore tried to make sure it's a controlled abuse. If Harry proved to be a sullen boy with dark displays of magic, like Tom was, Dumbledore would have likely removed him from the Dursleys early and tried another approach before it's too late.

But Harry showed the response Dumbledore had been hoping for: he was the perfect material just waiting for someone to show him love and acceptance, eager to give them all his fierce devotion in return. Dumbledore needed someone who'll be ready to sacrifice himself for humanity, someone who never had a home, who'll see Hogwarts and people there as the only light in his life, and who'll cling to it with desperation only lonely and neglected children could show. Dumbledore started early: all the letters he sent to Harry were meant to humiliate the Dursleys and make his first contact with magic pleasant. Harry started to laugh and feel a little bit more powerful; then he got a room, and he quickly linked the letters with something good and welcoming. After getting a home and meeting friends, Harry would die in an instance to protect them.

Every year, Dumbledore tested Harry to see if he'd be ready to sacrifice himself at the end. In CoS, I believe Dumbledore tried to remove the Horcrux from him via the fang, but it didn't work and he realized Harry would indeed have to die. I have no doubts it broke his heart because he was still harboring hope that one day, Harry would live freely and happily.

In regard to Harry, most his decisions were manipulative in nature, and it's horrifying. In regard to the rest of the world, though, it makes sense because if Harry's death helps save many other people, then it's worth it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Obscurials came later, in the Fantastic Beasts? I don't really consider these later additions canon - to be honest, there are so many plot-holes there that it drives me mad, and I have no doubts stuff like this wasn't planned from the start, so I don't take it into consideration in my interpretations and analysis. With Blood Magic, it's pretty ineffective as a whole. It doesn't protect Harry outside, and since he spends half of the day (if not longer) there, anyone interested could grab him. Him living at Hogwarts or with one of trusted Order Members would have been far more safe, but in my opinion, Dumbledore wanted a broken child with low self-esteem, and it affected his decisions.

At the same time, I have no doubts Dumbledore hated himself for this. He sacrificed people, but it was never easy for him. He was confident that he was doing the right thing, and this confidence helped him go on, but it tormented him all the same.

And I agree with you that he didn't trust himself with power and this affected some of his choices. He never became the Minister; he was wary of powerful people. This partly explains his mistakes with Tom: instead of helping a traumatized (albeit creepy) child, Dumbledore kept his distance and remained suspicious. He didn't lift a finger to help, not even when he could (and he had to know Tom was the heir of Slytherin after hearing about talking to snakes yet he still left him in he dark). I don't think Dumbledore hated Tom himself from the first sight, but rather he saw a mirror to himself and Grindelwald - someone young, powerful, and eager for public recognition. And it horrified him.

I think after Grindelwald, Dumbledore dedicated himself to protecting the world from this specific threat so thoroughly that he gave up everything for it. He sacrificed others, but he also sacrificed himself. I doubt he even hoped for Harry's forgiveness, but he still got it because that's who Harry is.

Impressions from TTM

Spoilers, spoilers everywhere. Just a big bulleted list of thoughts as I read through the graphic novel. Not a lot of detail included, so it’ll make a lot more sense if you’ve already read it yourself!

looks like Moonshadow elves cross the arms of the dead... when they have a body to bury

it’s nice to see that Rayla imagines Runaan with all his shirts, the way she last saw him

kinda looks like Rayla changed into her jammies right on her bed and dumped her clothes on that little table. maybe she’s afraid of letting the few things she actually possesses out of her sight

listen we get one little panel of Opeli in here and it’s great

Soren’s cape smacking Callum in the face, 10/10

Lujanne’s appearance out of nowhere, along with Allen’s is just adorable, she’s so sparkly. And also she can apparently just turn totally invisible with an illusion spell? Even at a new moon? Probably because of the Nexus I guess

Lujanne’s “Big strong man with big strong feelings.” She and Runaan have exactly the same type and I support them

Allen’s face when Lujanne says it aches to miss Phoe-Phoe

Callum eating off Rayla’s plate and wondering how Lujanne suspected they were a couple, hmmm

Callum’s tears as he reminds Rayla that Runaan killed Harrow, he’s trying to move on, but it hurts

Rayla’s self-soothing behavior when she has her second nightmare in the book--she must have these most every night :((((

the big symbol on the Moon Temple doors looks like a stylized Moon staff, like it’s a building for mages

Lujanne saying Rayla might not want or need the truth right after Callum mentions Runaan’s name to her, he sassily asks about her husbands and she turns it into a compliment

Callum’s big reaction to the moon opals is adorable. The only other one he’s seen was part of a pair of treasured gifts between long-time spouses, so it kinda looks like he’s all “uhh we just started dating”

also Ethari must’ve made cute metal swirly covers for the pair he and Runaan wore, since these two are undecorated--maybe he got his from Lujanne?

listen Lujanne is a hoot and all but she’s both an ally and an antagonist. Her actions are trustworthy but her advice is generally terrible. It’s an interesting parallel to how Runaan says a lot with his actions too, but he talks a lot less than Lujanne

Rayla yeeting herself into a fight just to ask Soren for a talk is 10/10 Moonshadow assassin goals

but her hood is up when she’s lurking in the trees--she might not have known where she’d find Soren and was anticipating something less fun on the feels-o-meter

Rayla in the mud again. Soren keeps making people fall in the mud

that dancing elf has very long hair and shoulder pauldrons, and they start off dancing with six kneeling, watching, hooded elves around them--Moon Druids wore hoods even before they were assassins. Considering what Lujanne said about why the portal was sometimes opened, maybe those six kneeling elves are waiting under their emotion-hiding hoods to farewell a loved one who’s recently died?

can’t tell for sure but maybe the elf is dancing along the lines in the stone like they mark patterns for ritual dances, which would be the bomb

Soren and Rayla’s conversation is pretty wrenching. Seeing Soren have to struggle with what he did because it’s tangled up with Viren is rough because as a Crownguard it should just have been his duty to defend his king and he’d have nothing to feel weird about

Rayla dissociating herself from the term “assassins” and Soren dissociating from calling Viren “my father” in the same conversation is 10/10 excellent growth

Soren must know what happens to prisoners his dad gets a hold of, even if he doesn’t know the details :(((

“we captured him” and “Viren took him” seem to be talking about the Crownguard and Viren, not the brodigies and Viren

Rayla having a wooden sword at the end of the day bc she played swordfighting with Allen and Soren all day long

the panel where Rayla doesn’t say anything at all after telling Callum that she asked Soren about Runaan actually says so much, you can hear it

every time Lujanne’s white lies idea gets repeated, things get worse

in the moon phase montage, baby Phoe-Phoe is flying next to Ezran after one week at the Nexus. Maybe he’s paying her back by helping her learn to fly after she helped him teach Zym how to fly! Did they bond as tightly as Ezran did with Zym? I support Ezran just bonding with the most powerful flying creatures in all the land.

I’m leaning toward her having thought this over and doing it on purpose bc she believes it’s a sign of deepest love--that Runaan’s actions and Lujanne’s words match up in her head, so she thinks it’s the right thing to do bc the mage and the assassin agree. Alas, Callum doesn’t understand the Moon arcanum yet, so he will have a different opinion. That mage and that assassin do not agree!

Rayla’s cloak has that Moon Temple symbol on its back. Is it Lujanne’s cloak? Any Moonshadow who sees it will probably know where she got it and who helped her. That could be fun!

EDA reviews part 2 - books 10-18

Previous part here

10) Legacy of the Daleks - A very enjoyable read, even though it doesn’t mesh well with Big Finish continuity. I have a few headcanons on how to rectify that, though... The meeting between the Eight and Delgado’s Master left me grinning ear to ear, the way Eight was posturing, wholly aware of the way the Master ticks. I’m not sure I liked Susan quite as much, though - nor was she that fundamental to the story, spending most of the time off screen, but being somewhat unlikeable when she was there. Her final confrontation with the Master was a bit much... Similarly, it was hard to accept Master not recognizing her. That said, the rest of it was a fun romp, and Eight’s thoughts towards the end were particularly poignant, 9/10

11) Dreamstone Moon - Starting right off the bat with an author self insert, and have him being both the source of the conflict and the one to ultimately save the day, kind of - it’s a bold choice.... It’s been said before, but Doctor’s companions really should unionize huh? Eight’s in particular. It really is quite striking that the situation with Sam is pretty much the exact same one as it will be with Charlie - thinking that the Doctor is dead, abandoned, alone, without any network of support. And I’m finally about to have context for that post, so, cheers, I guess. That said, Sam and the Doctor are very much representative of the “quit telling everyone I’m dead - sometimes I can still hear his voice” meme. I’ve lost count how many times Sam decided that the Doctor’s dead within five minutes of seeing him very much alive. (Ok, no, I jest, but it’s a good book, throughly enjoyable from the beginning to end, 10/10)

12) Seeing I - I, uh, really struggle to follow Sam’s logic in the beginning here. I don’t really understand how she ended up in the place she did, after the last novel. Because, she wasn’t alone, she wasn’t abandoned, she was in a company of people, who, uh, cared about her might be putting it a bit too strongly, but who at least could vouch for her. So this disconnect is a bit odd. And, as good as this novel is, as good as the character work in here is, I have a slight disconnect with the rest of it, too. There is too big of a gulf with where the story begun and where it ended - there are too many things going on, too many plots introduced and then unceremoniously dropped. It’s like... Revolution of the Daleks inside of Kerblam, with Nightmare in Silver thrown in with half a dozen other themes from other episodes. When you have the doctor in the machine and the psychologist guy go from primary antagonists to the supporting cast we’re supposed to root for, there is something mildly dissatisfying about it, thematically speaking. Overall, the story in its entirety is less than a sum of its parts. Breaking it into pieces, though, there is a lot of exciting stuff there. 9/10

13) Placebo Effect - Controversial opinion time - I don’t care for Ark in Space. I think it’s a pretty forgettable episode. So any time I encounter any reference to the wirrrn, my reaction is “wait, who?”. And even though I like Leisure Hive well enough, I dare you to find anyone who has been clamoring for the return of Foamasi. This rather made me immediately apprehensive, straight from the preface. In general, there was too much continuity. Stacy & Ssard, really? How deep do you need to be to appreciate their appearance? They are so utterly unnecessary, too, they disappear less than a quarter of the way into the novel, they aren’t even there for set up, they are there for a set up of a set up. If you are actually a person who knew who they were, and wanted to see more of them, I can’t imagine this being all that satisfying. It’s a rather abrupt transition from the previous ark. I dare even say, aggressive, to the degree you have Sam going from “she is afraid to be even in the same room with him, lest she kills him with her soaked through panties” to “she is absolutely delighted when he imparts onto her his grandfatherly wisdom”. Then again, any time either Eight or Sam opened their mouth, I didn’t see Eight or Sam. I saw Four and Sarah Jane. It’s not well written, either. It’s very clunky. The dialogues in particular are obnoxious. Stacy’s and Sam’s conversation, and later on dogmatic discussion between Sam and the priests gave me full on psychic damage. I mostly skimmed beyond that, can’t say there was much to catch the eye. 2/10

14) Vanderdeken's Children - This book is aiming to be a masterpiece, but it’ll just have to settle for being good enough. It does have some interesting twists and turns in here, even though most of them are pretty predictable and expected from the set up. The last couple of chapters, the ending overall, are quite decent (even though all the ebook versions I was able to find cut off the last couple of pages, argh!), but the middle is very middling, with mostly uninspiring secondary characters that are ever so slowly being positioned on the chess board. 7/10

15) The Scarlet Empress - Where to begin... It’s a series of mostly unrelated short stories in a trench coat pretending to be a novel. It’s set up in a middle of a road trip, unrelated not just to each other, but also the measly bit of plot that was given to us? I found it’s quite difficult to engage with the story overall, or follow it, really. It tries to be more character driven than plot driven, which is an admirable aim, and some of the character stuff they have in here is nice, except... Outside of may be bits of chapter 1, I couldn’t really hear Doctor’s voice - any version of him, let alone Eight. Sam fares a bit better, but, at the end of the day... It doesn’t really feel like Doctor Who story. The pacing is completely off, as is the structure, and it was quite nonsensical and whimsical, more akin to Alice in Wonderland than Doctor Who. Not bad in and of itself, just, hard for me to appreciate as a part of this marathon. A note on Iris. I haven’t yet listened to her stand-alone adventures, but I generally enjoy whenever she shows up in Big Finish. Here, though, she was rather lacking Katy Manning’s charm and personality. And, I feel, if you didn’t have any existing fondness for the character before, this novel isn’t going to give you much to care about her. Except, *checks notes*, this was one of her first major outings? Not really a good start. Oh, and prior to this she was in a few short stories, by the same writer. Well, that checks out. 6/10

16) The Janus Conjunction - I really liked this one. Not much to say beyond it, but, very well written, very easy read, practically in a single breath. Excellent characterization for both Doctor and Sam, just a right degree of joyful, determined, adventurous, death defying, mad, delirious, and codependent, almost moreso than any other I’ve read so far. Rather dark, though, I can feel it resonating in the pit of my stomach, and it gets inside your head. 10/10

17) Beltempest - What did the Doctor do to deserve this character assassination??? It’s not without redeeming bits (looks like “I’m not a man” quote comes from here, big yay), but, in large part, is barely a pale shadow of a character I like. Especially in the beginning - he think that Sam might have died and he is ok with this??? After the Dreamstone Moon??? And he is incredibly obnoxious? And Sam was barely herself, even before being... uh, possessed? for plot related reasons. I can’t describe how much disconnect I have with the protagonists here, or with any characters in the rest of the book, for that matter, and how much the dialogue made me roll my eyes. And, ah, the technobabble. I generally try not to overthink the physics of most things in fiction, because, as a certified space scientist, otherwise I’d be here all day, but there comes a point where it crosses the line. After everything else, to read the words “newly born main sequence star” with my own two eyes is just too much. I’m a good person, I do not deserve this nonsense... The first half of the book left me rather put off. The second part left me feeling absolutely flat. No emotions, either positive or negative. And, uh, there was a post going around on tumblr along the lines of “the worst you can do to the character is having them mention a certain food, because the fandom will turn it into an obsession” - it’s rather the same here with Eight and books & classical music. I am rather starting to loose count of the number of times they are trying to emulate the scene with the ending of the movie, where he is lounging about and reading, or specifically mentioning Pucchini. To be fair, it’s not just this novel, but it definitely starting to take me out of it. 5/10

18) The Face-Eater - I’m generally a bit wary of cold opens in the books, because some tend to ramble a bit, with the characters I don’t already know and love, so it’s often is a chore to muster enthusiasm to care about them. This one, though, despite all that, starts very effectively, in a way that made me immediately sit up straight. Very snappish, in a style of noir novels. Too bad it doesn’t quite sustain that energy throughout it. The plot is... interesting, I guess. Characterization is decent, for the most part - although some moments, especially early on gave me a pause, it more than makes up for it in other places. 7/10

Overall impressions so far: Much better than the first set of 9, which often were too deeply rooted in nostalgia to try to offer anything unique. And, I guess, with more writers having a chance to read each others works, the characterization is a bit more consistent (not for every writer, mind, but, in general). How long does it take for them to write a novel of this length, I wonder? A book a month is a rather grueling pace for the series - how far in advance do they start? How many other books come out during that time?

Sam in particular incrementally found her footing (though, there is a bit of a lag from novel to novel). Instead of imagining literally any other companion, there were certain novels that really helped me to grasp her character. Though, hmm... being Doctor’s companion is not a safe job by any stretch of imagination, but this girl has really been through a wringer. I’m rather struggling to think of any other companion that has been put through so much (non-lethal) battering. There comes a point when one just wants to just to let her have some good time. And, uh, there was a horrible thought that occurred to me, and went to look up how she will depart the TARDIS in the end, and... well, I have a feeling that sometime afterwards I will not like what will happen.

Also, there is this trend of separating her and the Doctor, for a prolonged period of time, them having no idea where to find each other, without any contact, just, stumbling onto one another eventually. It’s a way for writers to have them cover more narrative ground, and you certainly don’t want them attached by the hip, but when they spend less than 20 pages a book in each other’s company, that’s, uh... not a trend I particularly care for.

Well, onto the next batch where we meet Fitz, and say good bye to Sam.

OC study!

This is OC game that which I found >> HERE <<

You can play it in the traditional way or in my way because I decided to modify it a little bit. Because, let's face it, if you have your OC then you would like to answer these questions. Even if no one cares, just make those answers for yourself to have ready headcanons for your OC. It can always be useful when you writing.

So choose a few of your OCs (I suggest no more than three but it’s up to you) and answer the following questions for them. For variety, make a portrait of them in any picrew that you like (I chose this one) and write a few words about them - who they are, for what fandom they were created, why you chose them for this presentation.

Then tag a few people who will enjoy making these answers. I also tag a few people at the end, but I know it's big and time consuming, so if it's too much for you, please ignore it and forgive me for bothering you with the tag.

So let's get started!

All my OCs come from my fanfic Granda (only in Polish but someday I will translate it. Somehow…). The action takes place in the witcher universe (mainly games, but also books), after the events of the Wild Hunt. Probably, at another time I will do it for my OCs from another fanfic, but for now I introduce you three men from Granda.

Aiden - he is not entirely my OC, he is mentioned in the Witcher 3, but considering how little we know about him, I had a lot of freedom in creating him. So I treat him like my OC. And I love him, he is my precious boy. Aiden is a witcher from cat school, and for some time he was considered dead after his path crossed with Jad Karadin/Bertram Tauler and his hansa.

Vadim Ormond from Ellander - After The Thanedd Coup, he was mage at the court of duke Hereward. For unknown reasons, the duke banished him from the principality and no one knew what was happening to Vadim. Unexpectedly, the sorcerer appears at the headquarters of the new Brotherhood of Sorcerers asking for support in the investigation of the coup d'état in Ellander.

Solomon Landrau - he is a mage from Lan Exeter who has extensive connections in the capital. Although the townspeople fear respect him, he doesn’t have a good opinion. Unofficially, he is rumored about his shady business.

1. Is your oc easily bothered by things?

Aiden - it depends. Aiden most of the time is rather carefree and solves all problems by violence or ignoring them until they bite his ass.

Vadim - No. Vadim is very difficult to upset or distract. He is usually focused on his goals and prepared for all adversities. But trust me - you don't want to piss him off.

Landrau - He is the thing that bothered others.

2. How easily does your oc make friends?

Aiden - he usually makes a very bad first impression, but he gets better on closer acquaintance. Despite the fact that he is a witcher, it is easy for him to make new friends. I mean, he made friends with Lambert. This is a high bar.

Vadim - he knows how to make people like him and consider him a friend. He is very sociable, polite and eloquent, but that doesn’t mean that his friendship is sincere.

Landrau - let's say it's much easier for him to make enemies.

3. Does your oc go beyond what they have to do or do they usually do just enough work to get by?

Aiden - He always says that he will do only as much as necessary and nothing more than that. But he always does more.

Vadim - Sometimes he does more, sometimes only the necessary minimum. It depends who he does it for.

Landrau - When Landrau does something extra, it means it's time to be scared.

4. Is your oc respectful of others?

Aiden - He respects those who respect him. He is always polite to those who treat him good. Those who don’t respect him don’t end well.

Vadim - Vadim is a diplomat, he always treats others with respect, which doesn't mean he really respects them.

Landrau - I don't know if there is a thing or a person he would respect.

5. Is your oc imaginative or more down-to-earth?

Aiden - Carefree on the one hand, and very down-to-earth on the other.

Vadim - Down-to-earth

Landrau - He firmly sees the world in his own way, but I wouldn’t say that he is imaginative. His mind just isn't working properly which distorts his perception of reality.

6. Is your oc comfortable with themselves?

Aiden - like most witchers, he has some problems with that, but usually he is comfortable with himself.

Vadim - Very comfortable with himself.

Landrau: Ugh… it depends on his mood swings, but most of the time he considers himself superior.

6. Does your oc plan things and stick to it or do they make it up as their go?

Aiden - he is a witcher from cat school. Does he look like a guy with a plan to you?

Vadim - Oh, he's definitely a guy with a plan. And that's a good plan.

Landrau - Yes, he has plan. Simply these plan is... weird.

7. Was their life eventful before the start of the story, or was it more dull?

Aiden - eventful

Vadim - eventful

Landrau - dull

8. Do they have the habit to insult other people?

Aiden - Most of the time

Vadim - Usually not, but if it offends someone, it is a high-class insult

Landrau - He doesn't bother insulting other people, he just destroys them.

9. Would your oc be described as “the life of the party”?

Aiden - Yes

Vadim - Yes, but in a completely different way than Aiden.

Landrau - No

10. Are they critical of others?

Aiden - No

Vadim - It depends

Landrau - YES

11. Do they like art? what is their favorite type (paintings, songs, fashion, etc)?

Aiden - He likes music. He has good musical hearing and a good sense of rhythm, also he can sing quite well. He likes obscene sailor songs the most.

Vadim - he appreciates art and likes it very much, mainly painting. He also sketches a bit.

Landrau - he lacks sensitivity to understand and feel art properly. He likes beautiful objects, but they don’t arouse any emotions in him.

12. Are they more accepting or more controlling of the people in their life?

Adien – Accepting

Vadim - Vadim accepts a close group of friends and people he considers a family. He doesn't pay attention to strangers until he has a purpose in it. Then he starts controlling them because he wants to use them.

Landrau – Controlling af

13. Is your oc a good listener?

Aiden - When the people he cares about are speaking - yes.

Vadim - Oh he is an excellent listener. And he can read between the lines. He will hear more than you want to tell him.

Landrau - He listens perfectly when you talk about something that interests him.

14. Are they opinionated or more willing to change their minds?

Aiden - Aiden is as stubborn as a mule. Even when he understands his mistake, he can still insist on it because he doesn't like to give up.

Vadim - He is flexible, if someone has a better idea, he sees no problem to use it.

Landrau - If someone thinks he is always right, why would he want to change his mind?

15. Are they the kind of person who’s always on the defensive?

16. Do people like hanging around them? Do they have a positive, friendly energy?

Aiden – yes, most of the time

Vadim - He is like a chameleon, if he wants to be friendly and positive then he will be.

Landrau - NO.

17. Is your oc a procastinator? if they are, what’s an example of how much?

18. Do they tend to panic in certain situations or are they more calm?

19. are they vengeful?

Aiden - Most of the time, yes

Vadim – Vengeful af

Landau - Yes

20. What are some skills your oc has a talent for and what are some that they worked for?

Aiden - he is left-handed and this automatically gives him the advantage in sword fighting. He worked hard for his agility, he can climb and jump like a parkourist.

Vadim - he has a lot of personal charm, knows how speak to people, he is a natural diplomat. He had to work hard to become a wizard, he had no natural talent for magic. He had to study a lot.

Landrau - he is intimidating and knows how to benefit from it. He is also a magical self-taught person.

21. Are they more socially awkward or socially confident?

Aiden - it depends on the company, but usually he is socially confident.

Vadim - socially confident af

Landrau - socially awkward but he can deal with it.

22. What is something really dumb that irritates your oc a lot?

I don't know if this is really dumb, but this is what undoubtedly irritates my OCs

Aiden - he hates when someone commands him or tells him how to do something. Even if these are good tips he just doesn't obey.

Vadim – he doesn’t believe in gods and he is annoyed by public manifestations of faith.

Landrau - he is a pedant, he doesn't like dirt and mess.

23. Do they tend to see the good in people?

24. What does it take for your oc to trust someone?

Aiden - if someone proves his loyalty, if someone helps him in need without expecting favors.

Vadim - he trusts the facts, so if you are honest with him, there is a good chance that he will trust you.

Landrau - he trusts only himself.

25. Do they have a lot of mood swings?

Aiden - it happens to him but not often.

Vadim – no

Landrau – yeah, when he is in bad mood you better not approach him.

26. Do they like to be the center of attention or do they prefer to be in the background

three times background but from diffrent reasons

Aiden - because of bad experiences he prefers not to be center of attention. Witchers and especially witchers from the cat school are not liked, so he avoids attention.

Vadim – he can do very well when he is in the spotlight, but he prefers to be in the background because then it's easier to implement plans and manipulate others

Landrau - he usually stays in the background because it favors his shady business but he likes when the focus is on him.

27. Do people think they’re pretentious?

Aiden – no

Vadim - he can sometimes give such an impression

Landrau - YES

28. Is your oc detail oriented or do they focus more on the big picture?

Aiden – detail

Vadim - big picture

29. Which highschool movie stereotype would they fit best?

Aiden - The Rebel.

Vadim – hard to classify. Paradoxically, he is both a Loner and a School Diva.

Landrau - The Misfit / Outcast

Aiden – oh god, no

Vadim – yes

Landrau - don't even try

31. Which one of the 7 deadly sins fit your oc more? do they see it as a flaw?

Aiden – envy and pride. He sees envy as flaw but not pride

Vadim – wrath. He thinks that he can turns his flaws into advantage, so no. Everything can be a tool for him.

Landrau – in fact all except maybe gluttony and sloth? His morality is highly debatable, so what is a flaw for someone can be an advantage for him.

32. Is your oc more likely to keep their feelings to themselves or to share them?

Aiden - He speaks about his feelings only to people he trusts and there are not many of those.

Vadim - he keeps it to himself

Landrau - what feelings?

HOW I RUN MY BLOG.

SPEED: Basically anyone who has ever rp’d with me will tell you that I’m slower than molasses. I very much take the whole “rping is a hobby” thing to heart so I don’t stress about replying in a timely manner. I prefer to give my partners the best and most cohesive replies possible and sometimes that process can take weeks or months. I do try and answer one or two things every day but it doesn’t always work out that way. Speed is increased tenfold if my partner discusses our thread and/or characters with me. If you send in something for a headcanon I’ll probably take up to a month or more to reply. Anonymous asks get priority because I don’t always know who sent them.

REPLIES : In terms of length, I usually give at least one paragraph for unplotted asks (unless they’re crack). Headcanons take longer but they are also (usually) big and well-thought out. The time i take is usually used to do research and organize my thoughts. Headcanon responses can be anywhere from 4-10 paragraphs. As far as threads go I don’t generally do well with one-liners. They’re the first to get dropped. I have the most consistently fast speed with things that are 3-4 paragraphs. But I can also be unintentionally lengthy so I’ve had threads which were about 9-10 paragraphs, although that’s definitely not the norm. Plotted things are always longer than unplotted and less likely to get dropped (read: won’t unless requested).

STARTERS : I don’t post starter calls anymore because I rarely remembered to write up the starters for them. I also have so many threads at this point that it became a bit overwhelming. I’m much more likely to post a plotting call and then write us up something from there or send in a meme if I don’t have time to write up a multi-paragraph starter. I don’t like one-liner starters, especially if we have plotted something so those usually don’t even get replied to. I also require brainstorming so if my partner can’t do that, or won’t participate, I generally won’t bother writing anything up.

INBOX : I love random messages in my inbox. Anything from crack to headcanon questions. They give me life and motivation. While random IC things are only for mutuals anyone (including personals) is allowed to send in hc questions or ooc questions to the mun. As far as memes go I love receiving them. All my mutual followers are free to spam me to their hearts content. Just know that I a.) tend to go through them and delete what Teague isn’t feeling (hence why spamming is encourages) and b.) I take a while because I get distracted and I prefer to give a more lengthy response. Anons are encouraged to send in meta questions, but as stated above, unless I know who you are please don’t send anything in as an NPC or ic canon character.

SELECTIVITY : I’m highly selective with who I follow. If I follow you I want to write with you. I don’t collect followers and if that’s your angle please don’t follow me. I’m also exclusive with a fair number of blogs. The reason being that I’ve been writing Teague for approximately 3 years in that time I’ve built up a lot of my canon, verses, and continuity around these other portrayals of muses. I prefer a consistent continuity and timeline on this blog and as such prefer exclusivity. All that said I’m aware that I’m the only Teague blog in a very small fandom that consists mostly of Jacks, Elizabeths, and Barbossa’s so (as holmes can attest) I’m very open to discussing generalized non-hc specific relations with other muns. Basically, what I’m saying is never be afraid to approach me.

WISH LIST : So many. I would love to have a more in-depth development of Teague’s ship and crew. He’s an excellent captain but doesn’t have the best people skills and I’d always love to explore his dynamic with his crew because they’re like his unofficial children at this point. Many of my au’s are unused but they are there for a reason. I’d specifically love to explore my HP verse, hunger games, and 100% his musician verse. Also, this he has way too many friends at this point and I feel like he needs more enemies to even out his ratio.

HONEST NOTE : Some random, useless facts: I love cats. I love dogs. I love anything fluffy and cute tbh. I’m an INTP 953 (9w8, 5w4, 3w4) with an sx/sp stacking. Teague is an ESTP 864 (8w9, cp6w7, 4w5) with an sp/sx stacking. As you can probably guess I’m very into MBTI and enneagram because I think it’s a great way to gain a baseline for someone’s personality. I’ve been told I'm “consistently very realistic” and I consider myself to be immensely chill. I try to remain impartial on most things and for the most part, it’s worked out well for me. I like to be upfront about who I am as a person. That said, I’m a pretty distant friend. I’m not interested in the sjw discourse or the callout-out culture. I’m really only interested in discussing our muses and different plots. While I’m open to other topics like graphic making, coding, and occasionally giving advice I prefer to not get too personal with people. I’m a very analytical person. I like to dissect characters I don’t tip-toe around “problematic” topics such as abuse in my ic or ooc writing because I’ve been writing this stuff for years and I’ve done my research. If that bothers you it’s probably best not to follow. On the flipside, I’m very interested in hearing your genuine opinion on things and it’s impossible to insult me, so take that as you will.

Headcanons: The Children of E Class

I wanted to keep all of my online presences as separate as possible, but the cat’s out of the bag now. I’m Professional Magical Girl on Fanfiction dot net, author of Great Teacher Nagisa, Fake Smiles, and some other miscellaneous AssClass fics. If you are here because of those fics, don’t ask about the url, it’s an inside joke between me and some old high school friends that just stuck. You can follow me if you want, but be warned that my posts are sporadic and generally about Evangelion.

Ah-hem. Anyway, I’m writing a long fic that involves my headcanons about the children of, you guessed it, E Class characters. So here is a master post of all of them. This is subject to be edited at any given time (I will inform my readers in an AN if any major changes have been made). If I don’t list a character here, I probably don’t headcanon them as having children. Or maybe I couldn’t come up with names for the kids yet. But ask away if you have questions about that. I’d prefer to be PM’d on FFN because I get emails for those, but using the ask/message feature on tumblr works too. You can call me Samantha, Professional Magical Girl, did-somebody-say-exorcism, or any variation of any of those.

And yes, I did get this idea from what TheRoseShadow21/Aki-chan2014 did with her headcanons for Ending the End Class. Yes, I did ask for her permission to do the same. Professional Magical Girl is many things, but disingenuous is not one of them.

The premise for Teenage Wasteland (read here: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12856407/1/Teenage-Wasteland ) is: Some of the children of former E Class end up in the assassination classroom as a result of time travel. In some cases they will replace their parents, in others they coexist beside them. Not all of these characters will time travel, I’m still debating where to cut the fat. The characters whose names are bolded will definitely be major characters.

Nagisa and Kayano

Backstory: All of Kayano/Akari’s pregnancies were unintentional and back-to-back, leaving her and Nagisa rather unprepared. In spite of their jobs, they were also the first of E Class to have children. Akari managed to hide the children’s existences for many years, often by portraying pregnant characters or by hiding behind countertops. Kayano/Akari, after retiring from show business, now only leaves the house in disguises. All three of the girls are very short and tiny.

Aguri Shiota- Nagisa and Kayano/Akari’s first child, and the viewpoint character and protagonist of Teenage Wasteland. She is very quiet and observant, and as such others seem to see her as dependable, even Kaito (see below) notes her admiringly. While normally an even-tempered person, she is prone to episodes of moodiness, especially after the time travel event. It was rumored that she was born in her mother’s dressing room between shooting scenes for a movie that would later win an Academy Award, but she herself doubts this. She is named after her late aunt (obviously). Very, very much a daddy’s girl. Birthday: June 26, 2024

Hotaru Shiota- Nagisa and Kayano’s middle daughter. She is sweet and bubbly and often plays the comic relief. Her sister describes her as ‘getting calmer the angrier she gets.’ This mood of hers is invoked in the event that she is lied too, which she cannot stand above all else. She also has the ability to hear what people are saying from a distance away, a talent that is made useful many times. Birthday: July 12, 2025

Fujiko Shiota- The youngest of the three girls. She has a severe illness that I will not yet identify (this is a plot point). All of her family is very protective of her. She has a room full of stuffed animals and aggressively sings showtunes at karaoke. She doesn’t feature prominently until the end of the fic. Birthday: June 16, 2026

Karma and Okuda

Madoka Tachibana (Akabane)- Okuda’s daughter from her first marriage, though Karma adopted her when they married and she calls him ‘Dad’. She has very little contact with her biological father and sees him twice a year at most. She is easily flustered and is usually the last one to get the joke. She is very close to her half-brother. Birthday: September 16, 2031

Hikaru Akabane- Prankster and musical theatre geek. He is usually the one to hatch some hairbrained scheme to get E Class to their goals at the moment, however mundane those goals may be. Birthday: March 1, 2034

Isogai

Koyo and Chiyo Isogai- Twins. They both have very jovial attitudes and are excellent students. Koyo is rumored to be the most attractive guy in the whole school. They have no enemies… That we know of. Birthday: February 14, 2031

Maehara

Backstory: Maehara, predictably, continued to be… himself throughout his young adult life. He was married to the mother of his oldest child, but after they divorced he went back to dating lots of different people, and was on again and off again with the mother of his two younger kids for years. He seems to still want to impress Okano, but suspects that she wants nothing to do with him.

Fumihiko Maehara- Athletic, popular, funny, but is seriously clueless when it comes to girls. Birthday: October 5, 2028

Hatsune Nakano- She gets on well with her older half-brother, not so much her younger full brother. She doesn’t seem to have the best opinion of her father either. Birthday: May 30, 2031

Shiori Nakano- Does not feature as a prominent character. I’m only listing him for posterity’s sake. Birthday: January 7, 2034

Kataoka

Takahiro Aruta- He is usually the one to take charge in any leadership role, and the rest of the class seems to trust him and feel at peace around him. Aguri describes him as ‘the protective type’. It is a running gag that cats love him and always flock towards him. Birthday: September 3, 2029

Kinoko Aruta- She is very sneaky and loves to eavesdrop and spy in places where she isn’t allowed to be. Aguri speculates that she “Has dirt on all of them”. She knows all the ins and outs of the main campus, some of which she claims she only knows because she bribed one of the five virtuosos (though this may be a joke). Birthday: October 12, 2031

Sugino

Kintaro Sugino- He and Nobuhiko’s mother left them, in the middle of the night to run away to Fukuoka. It was later uncovered that she was running from the law. Kintaro was five, just old enough to know he was abandoned, and according to Aguri, ‘never really got over that hurt’. They have not seen their mother since, and were raised by their father and stepmother. He is shown to be rather sensitive and gets saddened very easily, he will deadass steal the remote out of someone else’s hands to change the channel if that sad abused pet commercial comes on the tv. He has a crush on Fujiko. Birthday: September 28, 2028

Nobuhiko Sugino- Aguri describes him as being ‘very pure’, he seems to always have an optimistic outlook and doesn’t even remember his biological mother or feel any resentment towards her. He is a terrible judge of character, and is easily influenced by those around him. He seems to look up to Satoru (see below). Birthday: November 2, 2030

Minoru Sugino- Sugino’s son with his second wife. Freaking adorable, but probably will not time travel. Birthday: March 21, 2037

Kanzaki

Satsuki Kanou- The ‘straightforward’ one, usually playing the straight man to the shenanigans of the others. It is a running gag that she is very stingy with money and will attempt to cut corners wherever possible (for example, she suggests that the giant pudding be made with soymilk instead of regular milk, because soymilk was on sale). Birthday: May 15, 2029

Sayaka Kanou- Kanzaki’s younger daughter. Her sister fusses over her endlessly. Birthday: July 7, 2031

Chiba and Hayami

Satoru Chiba- Along with Satsuki, he is seen as the most level headed of the children, thought he is much less straightlaced than her. Kaguya (see below) has said of him that ‘he could be multiplied by 10 and I wouldn’t mind or notice’. By nature, he is very helpful and is especially kind to children and animals. Unfortunately for him, this is excessive to the point that he acts like a doormat and allows people to take advantage of him. Birthday: June 6, 2027

Midori Chiba- She's the sassy and sarcastic one, and gets in trouble frequently for dressing out of code. She always wears the same pink scarf, no matter what time of year it is. She cannot get along with Satsuki, who calls her ’difficult and argumentative’, while she accuses Satsuki of being ‘stuck-up’. Also a massive Daddy's girl. Birthday: August 2, 2029

Nakamura

Backstory here: Nakamura moved to Los Angeles after studying abroad in London, and just wound up never leaving. She married a well-to-do golf course manager, who is 100% behind her prank war on the local Home Owner’s Association. After 19 years of marriage and two kids, he left her for the girl across the street. She eventually marries Gakushuu Asano. When Karma heard of this, he literally almost died laughing because he thought it was a joke. (That does not happen yet during Teenage Wasteland, it’s just sort of an aside.)

Her kids were dropped into this timeline and location, with little skills in Japanese. This is a plot point on several occasions.

Liam Carmichael- Athlete. He is shown to be somewhat reserved and keeps the secrets of others well. He also has a good relationship with his mother, taking her advice to heart. He has a bromance with Satoru. Birthday: December 19, 2027

Jeffery Carmichael- Think of the Weasely twins, but one person. Aguri refers to him as having ‘corrupted’ Nobuhiko by teaching him dirty jokes. He has a crush on Midori. Birthday: October 26, 2029

Hazama

Minami Minnaoka- Her mother is stuck in a loveless marriage to a benefactor of the library she worked at. Minami observes this, and openly wishes that they would divorce. She mostly sticks to herself, but is shown to be friends with Kaguya. Kaito (see below) has described her as a ‘complicated wreck’. Birthday: November 1, 2030

Yoshida

Kaguya Yoshida- She is considerably droll and witty, which makes her admired by some and feared by others. Midori has affectionately dubbed her ‘The Queen’. Birthday: July 5, 2030

Hara

Tadaharu Konoda- Has severe chuunibyou. His current dream is to move to America and become an NFL star. Birthday: April 9, 2028

Fumiya Konoda- For reasons unknown, he has earned the nickname “barrel of monkeys”. Birthday: February 26, 2030

Okano

Kaito Suzuki- He frequently bickers with others (namely Minami), and is generally a bit of an asshole. Aguri speculates that this is because of his parents’ bitter divorce. Whatever the reason, he immediately drops his act around Aguri, as if he respects her. Is shockingly good at math, but not many other subjects. Birthday: November 28, 2029

Kurahashi

Chitose Mizushima- Her father is the mailman, and describes himself as ‘the best damn mailman in history’ (he also moonlights as an amateur musician). She is described as being breathtakingly beautiful, and has several admirers, including Satoru, Masahiro, and Nobuhiko. She is also tone-deaf (this is played for comedy). Birthday: August 6, 2028

Tarou Mizushima- Her beloved younger brother. It is a running gag that he will always try to help with something, but will usually end up unintentionally ruining it or screwing it up even more. A bit bumbling, but well meaning. Birthday: July 27, 2030

Kimura

I don’t have any headcanons for these two yet, just names and birthdays. It’s a work in progress.

Masahiro Kimura- Birthday: April 25, 2028

Haruki Kimura- Birthday: April 30, 2032

Fuwa

Kaworu Miyazawa- He was born through IVF, as his parents had been trying unsuccessfully for a child of many years. As such, he is treated as if he were very fragile, ‘as if he might break’ (according to Aguri’s description), which could not be further from the truth. Birthday: January 3, 2035

I was looking through the hp rp tag, and to be honest I was looking specifically for a Sybill Trelawney to play that I felt was actually a good representation of her character and also sat within an rp that had a good plot aha

WHAT HARRY POTTER CHARACTER DO YOU IDENTIFY WITH MOST?

Maybe a cliché but I really loved Ginny (in the books of course, don’t EVER get me started with the mess they made of her character in the movies dear god) she was spunky and confident (and ginger like myself, which tbqh has made me slightly bias in favour of the whole Weasley clan. Like you’re telling me not only do they deal w/ shit for being blood traitors but they redheads too??? Hard knock life, my man.) And of course my dear Sybill, who was just trying to be understood in a world that wasn’t quite ready for her.

Alycia Debnam Carey isn’t an fc I’ve ever worked with before but after browsing her tag and doing a little research she seems an excellent choice for Sybill in my opinion, and since she’s your chosen fc too I’m sure you’d have no problem with me picking her. (I am also partial to Juno Temple as Sybill, but I kinda feel that’s getting a little overdone)

REASON FOR CHOSEN CHARACTER

Uhhhh this is just a general comment but I really love that you’ve made Sybill a big of a fighter and actually self confident like all the time I see her portrayed as this scared little thing and I don’t think that’s accurate, like I’ve always felt that (at least in her younger years, before the world beat her down a bit) Sybill would have been a passionate and confident woman with faith in her gift and a desire to set the world to rights. Her words aren’t always tactful, sure, but I think everything Sybill says she says because she thinks it needs to be heard.

When I first read about this Aversio group you’d created I wasn’t sure that putting Sybill in with such people was the right choice but after a little thought the idea really grew on me. I think Sybill’s visions have forced her to witness so much death and destruction that she has been powerless to prevent, and who wouldn’t be made angry like that? Who wouldn’t grab the first chance that came along to take back some of that power, to try and defend the people she loved? Sybill is part of this group for all the right reasons. She’s fighting for freedom and safety, but she’s not naïve, she doesn’t think the order sitting around and just waiting to form counter attacks are doing enough. I also feel she was something of a loner in school and despite being quite clever was never really invited into or considered for the order and so perhaps this comes from the ever so slight niggling urge she has to prove herself, because despite being a hippy dippy seer she’s also capable of affecting change and taking part in things. (If anything her visions and prophecies have only made her more determined to change the world, for she will have seen how truly tits up everything could go.)

I just have a longstanding love for Sybill, she’s always been unafraid to march to the beat of her own drum. Like, refusing to take on the name ‘higglebottom’ and so causing the end of your own marriage?? That’s hardcore. That’s a woman who won’t take no shit. Yeah, I love Sybill and I am forever searching for an rp with what I feel is an accurate representation of her. This is getting long so I’ll wind it down now, but if you’d like to hear anything more about my love for Syb pls just do message me lmao.

Sybill has always been wary of romance and love. With her gift it is easy to see the multitude of ways things can fall apart. Not only that, but it is hard to find someone with complete faith in this gift of hers, someone who truly believes all her madcap ramblings and feels the power of nature and the universe as much as she does. (Of course, she would only ever settle down with someone who believed in this power as much as she did and yet like her was not afraid to question it.) Sex is different to romance, though, I think Sybill views sex as something much simpler and it’s very much a pleasure she indulges in without ever feeling guilty about it. Honestly I think she can be quite the flirt when she wants, not ashamed of her desire to lure a man or woman into her bed for the night, because why should we deny ourselves such a simple craving? We shouldn’t.

As far as ships go I’m very happy just to go with the flow, nothing prioritised. Sybill goes by she/her pronouns, did consider them/they for a while but after some contemplation in the forest realised her energy was decidedly feminine in its nurturing and care, even if it was a little wilder and more adventurous. (Sexuality I touched on a little above, i feel like she’d be very fluid about it and call herself bisexual if pushed on the subject)

-EXPAND ON THE TRAITS

Self-assured- Sybill has gotten comfortable with her gift of sight, and by extension- since she’s long felt like that was the most drastic aspect of her personality- the rest of herself. She’s confident in who she is and the doubts of others can no longer throw her off her chosen course.

Free-spirited- spends a lot of time out in nature, but its much more than that. Sybill is very unassuming and so as long as what/who you are is not a cause of harm (for example, unless you are a death eater) she is quite happy to not only let you continue with your life and hobbies, but likely also interested in learning about it. She is happy for you to be in love, she is happy for you to mindlessly fuck, she is happy for you to abstain and spend all your time writing. As long as your soul is good and warm, you can be counted as a friend of Sybill’s.

Crafty- well, there’s the obvious definition of her being artistic which is true, Sybill likes to paint and tell fanciful stories and take one mans trash to make into her own treasure. But her crafty mind also makes her quite statistical, she can wriggle her way out of almost any problem and really earns her keep as one of the strategic minds of Aversio.

Genuine- Another fairly obvious I feel. Some of the stuff Sybill says may be odd, but she means every word of it. This applies to her actions too. She has not one conniving or manipulative bone in her body, she never lies. Everything Sybill does is honest and true to the core of who she is.

Dreamer- constantly lost in her own world. Idealistic almost to a fault, often too optimistic about the future. Sometimes too optimistic about the present and so gets herself into dangerous situations just because she underestimated the circumstances.

Emotional- oh GOD if you criticise Sybill’s shoes she will CRY for a week. If you call her pretty in passing it will make her smile all year. Let me be clear here I don’t think Sybill holds grudges or has preferences, but I think she remembers everything that people do and everything impacts her as much as it did at the time it truly happened (does that make sense? Every time she remembers that Lily once complimented her hair it fills her with the same joy as the initial compliment did, for example.) I think this is why her gift takes such a toll on her, every bad thing that happens (whether it really ends up happening or not) affects her psyche terribly.

Dramatic- it’s very up and down with Sybill. I think being dramatic is good and bad, because every small show of kindness is an absolute joy but also every little negative moment or action is the worst betrayal imaginable. Nothing is done in halves by Sybill.

Weird- I mean self explanatory. She talks to plants, she’s constantly blabbering on about the energies of nature and the universe. She relies too heavily on her inner eye to guide her rather than just watching and responding. It’s a weirdness she’s comfortable with but that doesn’t mean everyone else is so ok with it, sometimes she makes people uncomfortable with her frank statements and odd habits.

-A FEW HEADCANONS

Sybill can play guitar. Yeah, she loves music, I think she plays guitar really very well and finds it quite relaxing (can’t think about anything else if you’re trying to master difficult songs y’know) but it isn’t a talent she often shares.

She writes poetry too, doesn’t call it that, just calls it writing. Often times her visions and prophecies can be a lot to digest and so writing about it all can help to sort her crazy imaginings from what might actually be possible.

Not adverse to substance abuse. She lives alone, and sometimes being part of Aversio leaves her incredibly amped up and angry, so it can be difficult to sleep. A few glasses of whiskey or a couple of joints sort that problem out, though.

Can get aggressive with fellow Aversio members. See she knows they can handle it and all the negative energy has to go somewhere (where else would she take it out? Nature? Absolutely not.)

She meditates because it helps focus her inner eye.

This aggression with Aversio members might be an interesting one- like, does she think some of them are really just death eaters afraid to admit that? Are some of them scared of her? Do they think she’s too pushy with the people she’s supposedly aligned with? Yeah, lots interesting to say there.

Of course as an Aversio member there’s always the chance that the order or DE might find out that she’s part of such a group and try to sway her one such way (the DE would have no chance, and i don’t really see the order being much luckier, though she may be willing to form some kind of cooperation with them.)

There’s always the chance of her abandoning everything to just live in the forest.

I think I’d like to invent a potion that would make me immune to all poisons. To be honest, that’s one of the few things that forces me to buy actual food from shops and stops me from living purely off the foods nature provides. I’m quite worried about being poisoned by something not meant for me you see, so if I had a potion that meant no such poisons affected me I would live only off the bounty provided by nature.

♔ You have to venture deep into the Forbidden Forest one night. Pick one other character and one object (muggle or magical), besides your wand, that you’d want with you:

I think Xenophilius Lovegood would make for very good company. He’s easy on the eye and we’re both the types who see more in the world than most people do. I don’t suppose i’d pick anyone for their ability to keep me safe- I’m quite capable of that, thank you. Rather I think I’d pick Xenophilius because we would not run out of things to talk about. Ad far as objects go, maybe a sword? They fascinate me to be perfectly honest- so violent, so pretty- and I think it would be most useful should magic fail me.

♔ What kinds of decisions are the most difficult for you to make?

Who to send on missions or counter attacks. It’s never very easy to decide if you need stealth and logic or aggression and strength, you know? And always I am so fearful that by sending the wrong type we will do more harm than good.

♔ What is one thing you would never want said about you?

That I am a liar. That’s easy, people can say much about me as long as they always believe I am true.

WRITING SAMPLE

Sybill could not sleep. This was not a rare occurrence. More often than not she’d use alcohol or drugs to knock herself out for the night, acutely aware of all the work that there was to be done the next day and so too focused on being alert for that to be concerned with her own body. Tonight, however, she chose the forest. And drugs. There was a lovely little wood right by her house (would Sybill move anywhere without nature close by? Of course not.) And so she meandered through the trees until a small clearing came about, settling herself with a joint and her notebook for a sleepless night.

See, tomorrows attack did not directly involve her. It was more an urban stealth mission, not really her style, and so she saw no harm in turning up to the meeting a little tired and out of it. Hey, she was usually ‘out of it’ as far as the others thought anyway, and so what was the harm really. So for this plan she had taken more a strategic role, using her gift to her advantage to help plan the timing, who she be where and when they should be there. It was something of an arduous task to be honest, left her a little drained to look so closely at individuals, but Sybill would never complain about it. Her inner eye was a gift very few possessed and she intended to use it to it’s full potential.

Besides being out here among nature’s glory with her writing and a joint would be sufficient to restore the balance of her energy. She took a drag and sighed into the quiet night, shifting to lay on her back and feel the full flow of the earth against her body. Her fingertips tingled and her toes curled. God, you know what would really help her sleep? Sex. But so few were as interested in no strings in the same way she was. Still willing to form a connection and truly bon with each other, just not so insistent that such a bond be permanent. It was okay to need someone only for a night or two. The summer she’d bounced around muggle music festivals had spoiled her, obviously. Maybe most wizards were so interested in commitment because it carried on the family name.

Not that she could blame them for such. Cassandra Trelawney had claimed the gift skipped three generations after all and by golly the family had seen to it that her point be proved. The idea made her giggle, bright energy pushing out against a dark sky.

Whatever the case, she was antsy and restless and worried about tomorrows plans. Worried about tomorrows’ people. If things went wrong those few were the ones who would pay most dearly. She closed her eyes, trying to feel the influence of the universe move through her and search for the answers she desired. Would tomorrow be okay? Had they chosen well? The universe, as it so often was in what it considered small affairs, had little more to offer than a small reassurance that Sybill wasn’t driving towards utter disaster.

character in general: All right, if you don’t love Reinhardt, what the hell are you even doing with your life? He’s, he’s like. A seven-foot teddy bear in a rocket powered suit of armor. He’s loyal and just and true and chivalrous in the best of ways and, look, if you’ve ever read a fantasy book and wanted to be there, Reinhardt’s the character for you. He’s an actual knight. An actual knight in actual shining armor. You get the feeling that when he shouts “I am your shield!” he doesn’t just mean it physically.

I could go on for several hours about how much I love Reinhardt Wilhelm, but for the sake of everyone reading this, I’ll save it for a more opportune time :’)

how they play them: You ever just, like, read a piece of writing and you’re like. Holy shit, what, did Actual Reinhardt Wilhelm sit down and start running a blog about himself? Yeah. YEAH. Yeah. I think one of the best tells of whether or not a writer’s got a real handle on their character is the crack rp, because if you can still write something for a situation that would never happen in the original source material that other people still immediately read in your character’s voice, you really understand who you’re writing. And, honestly, even with all the shenanigans you’ve been dragged through? I’ve never once seen something that I couldn’t hear Reinhardt say aloud.

HemaFirst impression: What a cutie >:UImpression now: Hello yes this is my son and I would do anything for himFavorite moment: There are so many good scenes though- I really enjoyed the fight with Yellow at the end of arc 1 because it was. It showed a completely different side to Hema, that he’s a fantastic actor and extremely terrifying when he’s pushed to the brink. But I also really love the scene where he protects White by shifting up to his full height and shielding her as a skyscraper crashed down on his back. It was a heart-stopping, excellent scene where he really showed off how loyal he is to the Diamonds- if they’re at risk of getting damaged, he would literally put his own life on the line to save them.Idea for a story: Honestly, I think all of his adventures on Earth and reaction to all the new things on said planet would be an interesting read.Unpopular opinion: I’ve said this before, but it never hurts to say again. Hema isn’t exactly a pure cinnamon roll, not as much as people think. Like of course he’s my precious son, but he DOES have his flaws. It’s like Frecks said; it was a historical moment that really affected every future aspect of the plot of The Harvester.Idea for a story: I feel like being punished by getting chased by Hematites is a bit severe for a few cases of petty theft, so it would be interesting to see exactly what happened that led to her arrest, I think.Unpopular opinion: Not an unpopular opinion, I don’t think, but her little buck-teeth are cute ;w;Favorite relationship: I really enjoy her relationship with Hema; she’s still kind of nervous around him, but she definitely trusts him more than other Hematites since he was the only one to not poof his target when he caught her.Favorite headcanon: Aggy really enjoys reading; she seems the type to prefer quieter, more solitary hobbies. Shield Raised is a series of drabbles about my stoic, awkward Trevelyan, Gal, and his romance with Dorian. a.k.a., “A Marcher nearly-templar, a Tevinter altus, and a slow understanding.” The Inquisition-era ones (though not the pre- and post-game ones) are collected on AO3 here.

Pre-Inquisition

sans peur et sans reproche: Basically, Gal’s angsty backstory. Chantries, angry young men and controlling mothers.

Haven

Rejection: The Herald has barely spoken since he arrived. (Josephine, Gal and the beginning of a tentative friendship.)

Futures: Dorian thinks the supposed Herald of Andraste is rather… odd.

The Measure: Dorian, Gal and a slow understanding. Also Dorian working out. Because apparently that’s important?

Drinking with the Tevinter: The Inquisition isn’t happy having someone from the Imperium in its ranks. Gal feels rather differently.

Questions and Answers: Gal gets upset and a bit drunk and finally opens up about his past. That’s pretty much it.

pictures in the snow: The attack on Haven and Gal’s apparent death.

Skyhold

Crossing: Turns out Gal’s alive. Cue Skyhold, UST and a step forwards.

Mamihlapinatapei: Promptfic. Mamihlapinatapei - The look between two people in which each loves the other but is too afraid to make the first move.

Sweet Nothing: The companions attempt to be helpful because the UST is getting painful to watch. Gal and Dorian do not appreciate it, but it gives them food for thought.

Liminal: Dorian tries to deal with being chucked into the Fade, and then with his father, and lines are crossed. Angsty as hell, even by Shield Raised standards.

Out Of My Head: Post-Last Resort Of Good Men. Dorian gets drunk, tries not to snog Gal and is homesick.

Answers: In which they finally spit it out. Only took them 21k.

Rumours: A revised and improved rewrite of “Answers.” Blech, kissing.

Attachment: Some fluff, some angst, some snogging. In the aftermath of That Kiss, Gal and Dorian try to work out what this thing between them is.

Truths: Homesickness, making out, and Dorian playing the “what, of course I’m not falling for him, what do you mean I called him amatus, I don’t even know what that means” game.

Promises: “Wishing but wondering, wounded and wistful. What if he doesn’t want me after?” A seduction, and Dorian waiting to get his heart broken. As usual.

the light of day: In which all the companions have an opinion. Of course.

Chess: Gal gets trounced at chess by a twelve-year-old. Oh, and he and Irene talk about happiness.

Pretexts: SFW, despite subject matter. Gal attempts to find time to do some “paperwork.” Said paperwork has a moustache.

Gifts, and surprises: Two short drabbles for the prompts “Did you do this?” and “So uh. I noticed you’re kinda naked. Is that intentional, or… ?” Gal and Dorian attempt to be spontaneous, with varying levels of success.

Sers: SFW, but written for #sexlaughterhonesty Week and the theme “coitus interruptus”. In which a messenger is privy to too much.

A Request: Short snippet. Josephine and Gal, pre-Winter Palace.

Formality: Why they got scruffy!Gal at Halamshiral, despite Josephine’s wishes.

A letter found on the Inquisitor’s desk: For the Dragon Age 100 prompt “Family.” Gal and an old friend from the Chantry days.

The Hangover: The big “we survived” celebration. Gal finally gets truly, astonishingly drunk, and emotional honesty happens. Much to his horror. Also: sorbet.

Malapert: Promptfic. Malapert - Clever in manners of speech.

General Opinion:

Aesthetic Attractiveness Level:

Okay, I feel the need to clarify … on the one hand, I think that Manon’s design is nice (insofar as her hair and eyes, et cetera), and I do like the fact that she likes green since I headcanon her as being a grass-type specialist when she’s older. However, I despise the colors green and red together. Honest to god, it looks like Christmas. She looks like Christmas. So like, on the one hand, I like her design! But then my brain kicks in and sees the red and green and is like “why this, she looks like an elf.”

So like, I like her design, but also my brain sometimes screams “CHRISTMAS” whenever I look at her, so. The conflict is real.

Hogwarts House:

Gryffindor | Slytherin | Ravenclaw | Hufflepuff

Finally, a Slytherin! And yes, Manon is very, very Slytherin. I’m 100% sure of this. (Which is another reason why green is very fitting for her, but with her hair … !)

Best Quality:

Undoubtedly, her loyalty and devotion to those she loves! One of the things that makes Manon so very, very Slytherin is that she is very attached and devoted to those she loves. She’s very much one who is there for her people, which may be a small little group, but that is her small little group. And when a Slytherin defends their people, they defend their people, both in the sense that they will literally defend them from danger and they will champion for and promote them as well. (So like, Manon being so excited about Alan winning the finals? Manon always, always rooting for him no matter what? Throwing him a party? But also, despite her own terror, risking her life to go save him in TSME 3? All hallmarks of a Slytherin.) Whether it’s Alan or Hari-san or someone else dear to her, Manon will throw everything else to the wind until she’s sure that they’re safe. It’s not that she doesn’t care about the world, but it’s just that, to her, the world is less important than her loved ones. The world can wait, as far as Manon is concerned. Her people come first. And I definitely think that this is both one of Manon’s better qualities and one of the most interesting aspects of her character.

Worst Quality:

That said, Manon has a very bad tendency to disregard what others want or feel in comparison to what she wants, and has a very bad understanding of boundaries. This is best shown in her relationship with Alan, actually, in that they became friends because she wore him down until he said yes, ignoring every “no” and “stop following me” and “go away” that he threw at her. This finally culminates in their fight in TSME 4; while he was trying to push her away for her own protection—while he put an ocean between them in an effort to protect her—Manon refused to take “no” for an answer. And while on the one hand it’s amazing that she had the agency to do that (and good writing to give her the agency to do that), on the other, it’s absolutely, unquestionably wrong for her to ignore his boundaries and refuse to let him end the relationship, regardless of his reasons for doing so (because both parties don’t have to agree—so long as one person wants out of the relationship, that is enough). Manon wasn’t listening to him, wasn’t considering things from his point of view. She listened only long enough to have her turn to speak and argue. That whole thing spiraled horribly, but the point is that Manon was relentless in what she wanted (quite Slytherin, once again!), to the point of ignoring how he felt. It’s a definite flaw of hers, but one she can hopefully learn from even if the show refused to acknowledge it and give her the chance to do so.

Serena, though preferably when they’re a little older and Manon has matured a bit more.

In To Devour the Sun—well, slight spoilers for the upcoming chapter, but she has the biggest crush on Lillie, pretty much from first sight. So, while it’s one-sided at the moment, Manon/Lillie as well.

She could probably have a fun relationship with Shauna, too, tbh.

In To Devour the Sun, staying away from Lusamine would be a good idea (this is good advice for literally everyone tbh), despite Manon’s precocious crush on her.

Misc. Thoughts:

I like Manon a lot, but I’m really disappointed in the way the anime concluded her arc. I would have appreciated not only having Manon realize her own mistakes which led to Hari-san’s condition as well (because taking responsibility for her own faults would help her grow as a person and a trainer), but also have her set off an independent journey with her pokémon so that she can learn independence and self-confidence, since I think she has very little confidence in herself as a trainer and depends pretty much wholesale on Alan (which he points out in TSME 4, albeit she was not in a place to hear it, and he wasn’t being gentle in his delivery, and so the whole thing was just a poorly communicated mess). I think she’s an interesting character, but the anime definitely dropped the ball.

Note: Tbh, it’s the anime that moved him to “gorgeous / silver-haired dreamboat” for me, and it’s less because of his appearance (and magical boy tendencies), and more because of the sheer badassery that he showed in the Flare arc, my god, Steven’s moment of “I came out to attack people and I’m having such a good time right now” at the Flare base was AMAZING. He would probably just be “pretty aesthetically attractive” if not for that.

Best Quality:

He is an excellent judge of character. Well, in the anime at least.

In the games he behaves rather terribly toward Zinnia, but in the anime he knows that something is off about Lysandre pretty much immediately, and goes along in TSME in order to try and keep an eye on Alan and Manon. He contacts Professor Sycamore (with Manon’s help) to pull him into the loop as well. And though he has that, “Oh woe is me, Lysandre fooled me” line in the Flare arc—that is goddamn bullshit, Lysandre never fooled him for a second, but Steven is going to high-key enjoy getting to lay waste to the Flare base as vengeance for Alan and Manon. >) Revenge is a dish best served with MEGA METAGROSS.

Worst Quality:

In the games, he does exhibit some micro-aggressions toward Zinnia which are … not cool. Specifically, I’m referring to the fact that Zinnia introduces herself to him once, but when they meet again later, we get this exchange:

STEVEN: “You’re the—!”ZINNIA: “The Draconid, yup. Or you could just call me Zinnia.”

Zinnia’s being a bit passive-aggressive there, but tbh she has every right to be. It’s outright stated in-game that the Draconids used to be more spread out across Hoenn, but now they all live at Meteor Falls. It’s very heavily implied that they’re Hoenn’s indigenous people. So it stands to reason that Zinnia may have experienced racism, casual or otherwise, before (especially since she seemed very aware of what he was about to call her). For her to introduce herself once, yet then for Steven to start to call her the Draconid, is not intentionally malicious on Steven’s part (like, I don’t think he’s consciously racist or anything), but it is passively so and is a micro-aggression, and that’s not cool. He might harbor some internalized racism, especially if it’s systemic in the Hoenn region.

On a more broad scale, however, I think that Steven probably has a tendency to be somewhat … caught up in his own affairs, sort of … distant from others, as a result of his upbringing. Steven is very wealthy, and we know this, and we also know from his interactions with Wallace in-game that Steven has a tendency to come across as kind of selfish, what with just expecting Wallace to cover for him as Champion as he does his own thing. I think that Steven’s social skills are rather lacking, that he didn’t have a lot of friends growing up (especially since so few people would treat him like Steven rather than like the heir of Devon, and even now, so few people treat him like Steven rather than Hoenn’s Champion that Alan not recognizing him at first was probably something of a relief), and so at times he can be a bit inadvertently thoughtless, even though he tries his best not to be.

TL;DR: He’s a good guy, but he has made and does make mistakes, and this isn’t even getting into all the shady nonsense that Devon Corporation is up to.
