In a recent meta on Aang sparing Ozai I mentioned Aang's need to humble himself before he meets the lion turtle. (Funnily enough, I noted a lack of foreshadowing, which I might disprove now). I cited Master Piandao only taught Sokka once he'd humbled himself in Sokka's Master, as an example of this being a recurring theme in the show.

In that very same episode, images of lion turtles can be seen in the background.

Sokka humbles himself, and that pleased the person with lion turtle imagery. And after Aang humbles himself, the lion turtle is pleased too.

I just realized that in episode 3 one of the things karan highlights about achi’s selfless acts for other people at work is making sure everyone has ink in their pens and says the phrase “the magic of the pens” when listing off all of the things that the employees might think just happen as opposed to being a deliberate selfless act on achi’s part, and the obvious parallel in episode 6 of achi giving karan a magic pen in the flashback that will erase achi’s memory and allow karan distance from an emotionally vulnerable night

a pen that he kept for seven years because it meant so much to him and was the turning point for him falling for achi- experiencing achi’s kindness firsthand towards himself and subsequently seeing him exhibit towards everyone else at the office as well

adding in the fact that karan used asking for pens as a way to talk to achi (3+ times a week??) and that their big work project that allows them to bond further is selling a new heart rate detecting pen… which in turn stems from achi’s idea about the value of pens despite them often being overlooked……….

tl; dr they should have a pen themed wedding at this point given how central they are to their relationship djdjdjdjdjd but genuinely it’s so sweet, this relatively mundane thing being central to a lot of key moments in their relationship development, I really love it

man sometimes i still can't believe this show exists. not only in a manner of the queer rep and seeing two men in their 40s kiss explicitly on screen but like... it exists!!! it changed my life. i wasn in a bad place, creativity-wise, before. i didn't write for months. it made me feel really bad because writing brings me a lot of joy. then this show happened!! and i wrote a novel length fic!! i am just so grateful

somehow instead of saying "as a treat", I've started using the phrase "for morale", as if my body is a ship and its crew, and I (the captain) have to keep us in high spirits, lest we suffer a mutiny in the coming days.

and so I will eat this small block of fancy cheese, for morale. I will take a break and drink some tea, for morale. I will pick up that weird bug, for morale.
