The Perfect Morning (Undertale Fanfic)
Frisk Month Day 1: Good Morning!
This is from a while ago, but it kinda fits with the first prompt so I thought I'd post it after all. I had it labelled in my documents as “Thunderstorms knockoff”…. Lol. It's kinda short and more "feeling" than "fic", but! Here you go anyway.
Summary:
You and Frisk watch the sunrise together. (Written from Chara's POV, second person. Again.)
Characters: Chara and Frisk
Word count: 580 words
(Ao3 link in reblog!)
You sit outside on the porch. Frisk sits beside you. It’s dark, and it's cold, but you have a warm hot chocolate in your hands, and Frisk brought a blanket out with them for the both of you to share. You can brave the cold for this.
Neither of you are supposed to be out here, of course. It’s late. Or... technically it’s early. Early in the morning, before the sun’s risen. You’d woken up with a start a while ago and knew you wouldn’t be getting back to sleep, so you sat on your bed and watched the trees blow in the wind through your window. You tried not to make any noise, but Frisk must have heard your sniffles cause eventually they woke up, too, and now here you were. They were a light sleeper, they said. It’s okay. They don’t want you sitting in the dark alone. You wanted some fresh air. So they grabbed their blanket and you heated up a hot chocolate in the microwave, and you both snuck outside, thankful for the silent backdoor.
The silence is comforting and somehow it’s unlike anything you’ve ever known. Because there is the quiet, but there is also the wind through the branches and the occasional sound of a car in the distance, and you pull your side of the blanket tighter around yourself because it gives you chills. And Frisk is beside you, complaining that you’re hogging the blanket with laughter in their voice.
“Everything seems so eerie at night. But comforting at the same time.” You enjoy the quiet, but you enjoy the sound of Frisk’s voice, too.
“It feels like a secret side of the world that only we get to see.” You’re both kind of whispering, in a half-hearted attempt at preserving the night’s stillness.
“Yeah...” Frisk yawns and leans their head on your shoulder a bit. “Everything’s really quiet but loud at the same time. ‘Sweird.”
“It’s because the quiet makes the small sounds more noticeable. Or...maybe the world just can’t decide what it wants to be at night.”
They shrug. You sip your hot chocolate.
You don’t know what time it is, but you think the two of you will be able to catch the sunrise. It feels like you’ve been out here for hours, but maybe it’s more like ten minutes. Either way, it looks like the edges of the sky are brightening. You feel Frisk shuffle beside you to point it out, but you don’t really want the moment to end.
The world is still quiet. The trees are still swaying. But the spell is fading. The sun breathes light and life into the sky, slowly. It’s a beautiful sight, but it leaves you feeling bittersweet. You don’t really want the moment to end. But you know it will, inevitably.
“Remember when everyone saw the sun for the first time?” Frisk asks, and you smile.
With the rising of the sun comes the sound of birdsong. The shuffling of animals in the bushes. The blackness of the sky melts into orange, pink and the beginnings of blue. The moment as you knew fades, the quiet drowned out. You really don’t want it to end. But Frisk is still beside you. The sun is in the sky and everyone is here, everyone is happy. The ending of one moment makes room for the beauty of another.
That's life. That's living. And for once, you don't want it to end.

was gonna not post these until i finished the thing i was preparing for with them but i also want it to be known that i am not dead. as usual, note transcriptions, rambles, and extras under the cut
looking at a model sheet pose of os ditto, i drew the top right one just to get a sense of his design in particular. though i didn't post any of it, i drew some ov ditto around 2 years ago when i watched the classic continuity, but i wanted to switch things up. i drew the bottom right one next
in order, my thoughts were as follows
[drawing of ditto in a more dynamic pose, done after looking at some more reference material and then working more from memory]
rightmost dark text: "wait..."
[ditto mr beast meme bc i had a sudden realization and had to make it real and also mess with expressions on him]
leftmost dark text: "anyways"
magenta text, counterclockwise from top: "neck kinda long", "idk what his head actually looks like at this angle", "what is shape [wrt his hands]", "[wrt legs] was worried they were too long but actually? seems good (thumbs up)"
most of the rest of what i drew on this canvas was in the interest of just getting a feel for this specific ditto design but i was also in a call with a friend and sent a picture of wildmutt while i was talking about designs in ben 10 captioned "the original beast", and i knew what i had to do
text: "he cant tell where the camera is"
lastly, the text in the top middle of the canvas says "obligatory pogchamp". i wanted to fill some space and pogchamp is just one of my default expressions at this point tbh. anyways have a process video (which also has a bit of a peek at what i was actually preparing for)
#my art#sketch#colored sketch#ben 10#csp#... i dont know the like standard tagging format for aliens so im going to actually just not. for now. might go back later and add it#timelapse#i want to finish something before the end of the month and there is no better fuel than '[gets a silly idea] oh i Have to do it'#that said i've also never been a particularly fast artist and my sense of time is non-existent so like. yknow#with splatfest just around the corner we'll just have to see how this shakes out ig (literally about to do salmon run after posting this)

Look if there's one thing, just one thing, that I wish everyone understood about archiving, it's this:
We can always decide later that we don't need something we archived.
Like, if we archive a website that's full of THE WORST STUFF, like it turns out it's borderline illegal bot-made spam art, we can delete it. Gone.
We can also chose not to curate. You can make a list of the 100 Best Fanfic and just quietly not link to or mention the 20,000 RPFs of bigoted youtubers eating each other. No problem!
We can also make things not publicly available. This happens surprisingly often: like, sometimes there'll be a YouTube channel of alt-right bigotry that gets taken down by YouTube, but someone gives a copy to the internet archive, and they don't make it publicly available. Because it might be useful for researchers, and eventually historians, it's kept. But putting it online for everyone to see? That's just be propaganda for their bigotry. So it's hidden, for now. You can ask to see it, but you need a reason.
And we can say all these things, we can chose to delete it later, we can not curate it, we can hide it from public view... But we only have these options BECAUSE we archived it.
If we didn't archive it, we have no options. It is gone. I'm focusing on the negative here, but think about the positive side:
What if it turns out something we thought was junk turns out to be amazing new art?
What if something we thought of as pointless and not worth curating turns out to be influential?
What if something turns out to be of vital historical importance, the key that is used to solve a great mystery, the Rosetta stone for an era?
All of those things are great... If we archived it when we could.
Because this is an asymmetric problem:
If we archived it and it turns out it's not useful, we can delete.
If we didn't archive it and it turns out it is useful, OOPS!
You can't unlose something that's been lost. It's gone. This is a one way trip, it's already fallen off the cliff. Your only hope is that you're wrong about it being lost, and there is actually still a copy somewhere. If it's truly lost, your only option is to build a time machine.
And this has happened! There are things lost, so many of them that we know of, and many more we don't know of. There are BOOKS OF THE BIBLE referenced in the canon that simply do not exist anymore. Like, Paul says to go read his letter to the Laodiceans, and what did that letter say? We don't know. It's gone.
The most celebrated playwright in the English tradition has plays that are just gone. You want to perform or watch Love's Labours Won? TOO FUCKING BAD.
Want to watch Lon Cheyney's London After Midnight, a mystery-horror silent film from 1927? TOO BAD. The MGM vault burnt down in 1965 and the last known copy went up in smoke.
If something still exists, if it still is kept somewhere, there is always an opportunity to decide if it's worthy of being remembered. It can still be recognized for its merits, for its impact, for its importance, or just what it says about the time and culture and people who made it, and what they believed and thought and did. It can still be a useful part of history, even if we decide it's a horrible thing, a bigoted mess, a terrible piece of art. We have the opportunity to do all that.
If it's lost... We are out of options. All we can do is research it from how it affected other things. There's a lot of great books and plays and films and shows that we only know of because other contemporary sources talked about them so much. We're trying to figure out what it was and what it did, from tracing the shadow it cast on the rest of culture.
This is why archivists get anxious whenever people say "this thing is bad and should not be preserved". Because, yeah, maybe they're right. Maybe we'll look back and decide "yeah, that is worthless and we shouldn't waste the hard drive or warehouse space on it".
But if they're wrong, and we listen to them, and don't archive... We don't get a second chance at this. And archivists have been bitten too many times by talk of "we don't need copies, the original studio has the masters!" (it burnt down), or "this isn't worth preserving, it's just some damn silly fad" (the fad turned out to be the first steps of a cultural revolution), or "this media is degenerate/illegal/immoral" (it turns out those saying that were bigots and history doesn't agree with their assessment).
So we archive what we can. We can always decide later if it doesn't need preserving. And being a responsible archivist often means preserving things but not making them publicly available, or being selective in what you archive (I back up a lot of old computer hard drives. Often they have personal photos and emails and banking information! That doesn't get saved).
But it's not really a good idea to be making quality or moral judgements of what you archive. Because maybe you're right, maybe a decade or two later you'll decide this didn't need to be saved. And you'll have the freedom to make that choice. But if you didn't archive it, and decide a decade later you were wrong... It's just gone now. You failed.
Because at the end of the day I'd rather look at an archive and see it includes 10,000 things I think are worthless trash, than look at an archive of on the "best things" and know that there are some things that simply cannot be included. Maybe they were better, but can't be considered as one of the best... Because they're just gone. No one has read them, no one has been able to read them.
We have a long history of losing things. The least we can do going forward is to try and avoid losing more. And leave it up to history to decide if what we saved was worth it.
My dream is for a future where critics can look at stuff made in the present and go "all of this was shit. Useless, badly made, bigoted, horrible. Don't waste your time on it!"
Because that's infinitely better than the future where all they can do is go "we don't know of this was any good... It was probably important? We just don't know. It's gone. And it's never coming back"

Yeah, I don't have a title for this one. It's a sketch; it doesn't deserve one. kidding aside, I figured I'd post something a little different...a sketch. This one was drawn before the BG Club art, hence the similar theme and design elements. I was gonna finish this..and if motivation permits, I might at a later date (I still have the .psd in Procreate). But I really do like this as a sketch, soo....I dunno, we'll see. In the meantime, please enjoy Idia biting into a Hercules ice cream bar.

Something different | Manjiro Sano
Sumarry: Mikey from the future returns the last night he saw his beloved Y/n, but ends up encountering his past self.
A/n: Before y'all say something like "Oh, there's no way your past and future selves can talk to each other" In my head, yes, and that made perfect sense to me lol.
I found this beautiful art on Pinterest
"Fuck!" Mikey says as soon as Y/n slams the door in his face.
"You know what, I don't give a shit." He says turning around going to his motorcycle.
"Wow, I've always been a good liar." A voice says, making Mikey startle when he sees a figure leaning against the tree.
"Who are you? Why were you spying on us you weirdo?" He says approaching.
"I am you." The figure says getting a little closer, and Mikey looks at it doubtfully.
The figure really looked like him, but damn, what a horrible and sad look is that?
"Haha no way." Mikey says laughing a little, but the figure remains serious.
"That's the last time we'll see her." Mikey's eyes widen upon hearing this.
"Are you fucking threatening her? I'm going to kill you!" Mikey says ready to start a fight.
"Don't worry, I love her as much as you, at least…I did."
"Fuck, that's not even possible, stop lying and say who you are!"
"I said I'm you, I just wanted to come back here, to see her one last time, again." Mikey says looking at Y/n's house with a smile.
"If that's really true what do you mean by loved? I'm not dead am I? You look a lot older than me."
"You don't." He says and looks at Y/n's house making Mikey's heart stop.
"But... She's so young and... she's trying so hard to go to college, what do you mean?" Mikey says feeling a lump in his throat.
"It turns out that we don't have control of everything." He says smiling a little, and Mikey feels his eyes sting.
Mikey didn't know what to think, if that was really true... his dear Y/n... dead?
"We messed up, right? That's why she's so mad, I remember" Future Mikey lets out a humorless laugh.
"If I could do it all over again, I would go back there right now and hug her with all my might, tell her I love her more than anything, and that I would give up everything for her, you should do this, will be the last time." Future Mikey keeps talking with teary eyes.
"No, i'm not you, I'm going to do it differently... I..." Mikey says and goes back to Y/n's door slamming it hard.
"Open the Y/n door, come on!"
Mikey had no idea if that was true, but he couldn't risk it, couldn't risk losing the light of his life.
"You're lucky my parents aren't-" Before she can finish, Mikey hugs her tightly, crying into her neck.
"Please forgive me, damn I love you so much, I can not lose you, I can't."
"Because now?" Y/n says running a hand through Mikey's hair.
"Because if it's later it might be too late." he says with his eyes closed.
And he hopes that this attitude has changed the tragic future, he hopes from the bottom of his heart that it will keep his Y/n safe.

steddie | rating: m | wc: 955 | tags: established relationship, use of cake as a metaphor, they're so in love your honor | art credit: @firefly-party
Eddie Munson celebrates two birthdays every year: the day he was actually born, December 19th, and the day he woke up in the hospital, April 8th. Funny enough, the latter is usually a bigger celebration. Family and friends that no longer exist in separate groups come together with all of Eddie’s foods and drinks, small gifts and sometimes, a bigger gift from the collective.
Try as they might, they’ve yet to top the Metallica tickets.
But today is Eddie’s original birthday. December 19th— the one that’s usually swallowed up by the holidays, the one that really doesn’t mean all that much to him because, well, compared to waking up after saving the world, why would it? The last few celebrations have been tight-knit, mostly just himself, Wayne, and Steve either at Wayne’s trailer or the tiny little apartment Steve and Eddie managed to find for themselves.
This year, it’s just the two of them with no one to blame but Mother Nature. A blizzard drops nearly three feet of snow over northeastern Indiana and no one is going anywhere, least of all Wayne whose getting up there in years. We'll make up for it later, Eddie assures him when he calls with a stream of apologies.
How can he complain though? Wayne will make up for it, he’s snowed in with the love of his life, and the apartment smells like his favorite pasta sauce, the one he knows takes Steve hours to simmer. So no, he’s not disappointed. Not in the slightest.
“Sorry your day got snowed out,” Steve sighs, plopping down onto the couch and draping an arm along the back of the couch, toying with the ends of Eddie’s hair. “I did get you a surprise though.”
Eddie’s brow furrows, knitting tightly above his nose. There’s been no mail for two days, and their apartment doesn’t exactly lend itself to keeping secrets. “A surprise? What kinda surprise?”
“Well,” Steve smirks, confident in the way that always makes something stir in Eddie’s chest. “It’s not a birthday without a cake.”
He’s so fucking lost.
“A cake? We’ve been snowed in since Sunday and I would’ve smelled you baking in here. Also, I would’ve tasted it already, or at least demanded to lick the spoon so— wait, what are you doing?”
Steve stands up and walks around the back of the couch, just behind Eddie. “Just close your eyes, okay? Or do I need to blindfold you?”
He can hear Steve’s smug grin without even seeing his face and now it’s not just his chest stirring. Eddie shifts I’m his seat.
“No, no I can just close my eyes. Put a pin in the blindfold idea though.“
With his eyes closed, all he can do is imagine what the rustling is behind him, scenarios that will never compare to the sight he sees when Steve gives him the all clear.
“Okay,” Steve says, his voice now coming from directly in front of Eddie. “Open.”
Very funny, brain, he thinks. My entire life since the demobats has to have been just one long, final burst of dopamine before kicking the bucket because there’s absolutely no way this is fucking real.
Steve’s standing in front of him, shirtless, in nothing but some of the tightest shorts he’s seen Steve wear since the time he blindly walked into Scoops Ahoy asking for rum raisin and instead, got a fucking show. They’re dark maroon in hue with the word Cake printed in white script across the entirety of Steve’s ass. Moles litter his skin from the base of his neck down the flesh of his thighs, and the small indentation in his lower back is highlighted by the low waistband. Barely noticeable cuts in the sides expose what looks like black lace detailing.
“Holy shit,” Eddie groans, unable to stop himself from reaching out and touching the soft, cotton material.
“Yeah?” Steve looks over his shoulder with a knowing smile. “You like it?”
Eddie fingers trace the font and he doesn’t even dare to blink. If it is a coma dream, he doesn’t want to risk waking up. “Do I like it? If I ever say no to that, Steve, take me into a field and off me because I’ve been replaced by the body snatchers.”
Steve laughs and Eddie pulls him in closer, one hand on Steve’s hip and the other working its way up Steve’s thigh and beneath the fabric.
“Y’know,” Eddie starts, swallowing with a dry mouth around the lump in his throat. “There’s just one little problem with this birthday cake.”
“What?” Steve looks back over his shoulder again, this time confused.
He gives his right cheek a light tap, just enough to relish in the way the plush flesh moves. “It’s not finished.”
“Oh yeah? What’s it need?”
“You know I need my cakes frosted. And c’mon,” he leans forward and presses a kiss to Steve’s hairy thigh, just below the hem of the shorts. “Where’s the candle?”
Steve turns with a teasing grimace. “Did you just compare your dick to a candle?”
“Sure did. Is it working?” He smiles with his bottom lip between his teeth as he stands and places both hands in Steve’s hips.
“I can’t believe it, but yeah, it kinda is.” Steve’s eyes flicker down to Eddie’s lips and back up.
Eddie can barely get his thoughts in order, placing both hands on either side of Steve’s face and kissing him between words.
“Best.” He kisses his forehead. “Birthday.” He kisses his nose. “Ever.” He kisses his lips.
They make their way back to the bedroom and no one can blame him for leaving Steve’s ass littered in purpling hickies and love bites.
It’s a cake, after all.

also re: the racial component of TS/fan base, if you haven't you should watch Alex Avila's video on Taylor Swift, I think it was really well done
youtube
this is SO good. thank you SO much for this recommendation.
i really liked how avila noted how masterfully taylor blends authenticity and social normativity - "the reason taylor swift seems so authentic to young girls is because she's conforming to an image [of white patriarchal girlhood] that young women internalized from a young age." similarly, the popular feminism of 2014 (when 1989 was released) was flimsy and did not challenge patriarchal norms, and we see how she made feminism part of 1989's branding.
and he asks a question i often pose: is there anything subversive in idolizing the most popular cultural object? does poptimism (the critique of pop music as a serious form of art) simply reinforce existing power structures??
taylor swift and whiteness
understanding how someone becomes a legend and icon means understanding how they challenge, but also reinforce, the biases in society, which includes race, class, gender, and so forth. and "there IS something deeply white about [taylor's] image" (1:18:33). her image is cultural whiteness! taylor swift's relatability (which is and has always been part of her brand), her social capital, her social normativity, is directly tied to the neoliberal racial philosophy that, instead of calling whiteness superior, establishes whiteness as the norm (1:21:23).
millennials want celebrities to be morally pure. this is a mistake.
also - LOVE that he points out that millennials don't judge female celebrities by their sexuality or modesty anymore, but instead they judge based on political awareness, which is just another way of continuing the "patriarchal history of regulating narratives around women's actions" (1:42:39). avila focuses specifically on millennials here, cautioning us not to consider this a a sign of true political engagement from millennials. as he points out, systems of oppression adapt to our ever-changing culture. when we try to 'cancel' or 'hold a celebrity accountable' for their ideologies or missteps, sometimes it's because they're truly terrible, and other times it's because we hold women to "unrealistic standards of purity." ie, this isn't necessarily real political engagement, it is just another example of judging women. often it's both (pointing out missteps, and also being sexist.)
whiteness again
avila goes on to discuss how white women have long been held up as virtuous, moral centers of american families - and while this is a racist and sexist practice, given that woc aren't seen as virtuous, it also lays the foundation for why white women in particular dominate conversations about politics in the public sphere. it is an Event every time a white celebrity frames their political awakening as a personal, spiritual journey of self-realization. yes, this act is important, because women must learn about their own oppression, and talk about it, in order to educate others.
but when taylor (or any other famous white woman) frames politics solely through the personal, it relieves her of the obligation to critique systemic issues. her own political awakening is all that matters - she must prove her own political purity (instead of sexual purity, as before.) there is a deep problem in society demanding this, rather than larger systemic change, but we'll get to that later.
this personal political purity awakening earns her a lot of goodwill, but her resistance ends with herself. and this is a pattern that we see happen all the time, in what robin james calls "neoliberal resistance discourses" in pop: someone is damaged by oppression (sexism), she overcomes it brilliantly with an awakening (miss americana/lover/denouncing trump era), and she absorbs this goodwill into her brand. these individual damages and awakenings supposedly symbolize society's own awakening and resilience(!). (1:52:48)
🚨 some readers might be getting tired/annoyed at this; i can hear y'all saying "well, what do you even WANT from her omg!!!" just stay with me here. 🚨
she holds a mirror up to society, tho
what avila so brilliantly points out is that... this cycle of damages and resilience isn't helpful. it goes nowhere! and we are all at the mercy of the same patterns as taylor. it's not about taylor, it's about us, and how capitalism commodifies everything, including social movements! including personal 'goodness'! a neoliberal system wants individuals to care about their individual choices and looking like good individuals; it encourages the use of "purity tests" and "commodified algorithmic social movements" to discourage challenges to systemic issues (reminds me of the celebrity blackout situation earlier this year, and conversations we have about politics, well, daily on here.) and the pattern of a person failing politically as an individual is part of this machine. if we're too busy policing individuals for their purity, we won't ever organize together for shared material goals. unfortunately, unlike taylor swift, most of us are not extremely powerful, wealthy, and influential as individuals. she does have more power than us in this regard.
taylor as cultural hegemony
anyway, avila goes on to talk about how taylor had this musical renaissance with folklore, and became more honest about her masterminding her own career in midnights. she has shown herself not just to be a musical chameleon, but a cultural one as well, positioning herself as white teenage purity when the culture called for it (circa 2008-2010), neoliberal pop feminism (1989 -> lover), pandemic escapism (folkmore) - and the culture has become part of her brand, part of her music. music that is already heavily wrapped up in her own life. she is the brand she is the culture. of course she put the work in, and not just anyone could do this. but imo, her whiteness (which, again, gives her this "default" "neutral" background to work with) is part of this success. "sure, she's challenged the institution but all in the effort to become the new face of musical hegemony" (2:06:25.) she challenges systems to assimilate into them, or create them in a way that requires assimilation.
of course, this is all based on her REAL experiences, her REAL life. she is living her own life, and also living it in this metacognitive way that mirrors culture.
but we don't have to hate taylor, actually!
and MOST interestingly, avila closes out by suggesting: it's not actually super healthy to always be suspicious and critical of art (2:17:24.) yes, there is a long political history of "paranoid reading," of critique based on marx, freud, and nietzsche's philosophies. it is the basis of A LOT of our frameworks for thinking about the world, including art.
as i've said before, it's interesting to discuss taylor or celebrities because they hold a mirror up to society. but we can't just relentlessly critique ourselves - after all, the critique is supposed to protect us from being bad! the critique is what keeps us good! and it's why we project so much onto them (the celebrities, or "bad" people.)
this video dove into a term that may be new to a lot of people (i only learned of it recently) - "reparative reading." rather than relentlessly critique art or what-have-you, engage with it in ways that is "affirmative, creative, and caring." this does not mean you toss out critical readings - reparative readings can coexist, and give us hope, optimism, feelings of beauty/appreciation, and affirmation.
for example, it's why -while i enjoy critiquing taylor (or what she Represents) - i am also here to just... have fun. i don't want to linger 24/7 on her emissions, or what she hasn't done, or who she's friends with. it's also why, as a fan of color, i hate that she is often dismissed and minimized to "white musician making music for white women." i find affirmation in a lot of her music, regardless of her race; i find optimism and hope in the way women so deeply relate to her, and how queer fans (also like myself) relate to her! (which avila points out too 2:21:00.) it's why i stopped debunking stuff, because queerness - like any other aspect of the fandom - is such a critical, significant part of why her music is beloved. it's so important for people to recognize that she is more than just 'music for straight white heterosexual cisgender women.'

Could u write one for clarisse where she's impressed with femR bc of how good she is at fighting and all and clarisse finds her incredibly attractive bc no one has challenged her the way R does?
And like a bit of pining until the two confess
Thank you!!
Breathtaking or taken
Clarisse la rue x fem!reader
Summary: when Clarisse finds a opponent worth of her, she is breathtaken.
Warnings: none really, just fluff, not a descriptive fight scene on sight cause mama dont know how to write that, so just fluff fluff, and mutual pining fluff
(Do i need to say its not proofread? No? Thank you)
Here is one of the main benefits of being a daughter of Athena, you'll know.
DIfferent from other gods, Athena will let your parent know it is her who they are talking to.
And if letting them know beforehand isnt enough, she will let them know when the baby is brought to them, and if your parent is smart enough to live up to her choice, you'll have time to learn a thing or two before being thrown into this world.
If your parent cares enough about you, you'll have time.
And sure as hell my mom cared.
Always the intelectual woman, historian, researcher, writter, my mom knew many things about ancient greece, she knew all the stories by heart, and she, of all people, knew what she needed to do, to preserve her only daughter, her sacred gift.
She teached me all i needed to learn without compromising myself, stories, languages, art...and fight.
Little girls my age were doing dance classes, were trying to be good enough for drama club, were playing tea party with their dolls or making a mess with their mom's make up.
Well...i.. i was doing martial arts, i was fencing, i had my face in a book every free time i got.
I always asked her about it, why was she so strict about never missing a fight leasson, her answer always made sense, there and now.
"The world is cruel, especially for little girls, someday i might not be all the time with you, someday, you'll fight your own battles, you need to be ready"
Every word, every single word is true.
And that is how i ended up here, in a arena of camp half blood, sparring with Clarisse, and winnig, by two points, yes, but winning.
It is clear nobody expected that from me, neither did she actually, i can see in her eyes.
Understandable, they expect Athena kids to be calm, find a solution, not fight her way out.
Honestly their looks dont bother me, i dont even think much of it, but Clarisse's looks, they got something more to them, like a kid who finally got the dog she really wanted.
"Aaand break time Clarrise, we'll continue this tomorrow, id like to enjoy the rest of my afternoon thank you"
I dropped the sword down and started to undo my armor while walking close to the exit.
"Wait wait wait, now? Already? C'mon i didnt even had time to figure out how do you do that... all of that"
She stood next to me, still holding her sword and honestly.. she was beautiful, yes she was sweaty now and yes she was mean to everyone but.. now...right now, she was beautiful, shining, in her element really, flushed cheeks and a smile she only had when with a sword in hand.
"I practice, ever since i was a kid, everyday, well expect in weekends but yeah, almost everyday... how do you do all that? You are good...-want some water?"
I offered her my bottle also motioning for her to walk with me, both wich she gladly accepted.
"I practice too...and i never said this to anyone but, you are good, great even, and look breathtaking"
We stop walking, we stop all actually.
"I look what, Clarisse?"
"Breathtaken- you look out of breath, do you want the water back?"
Ah.
Weeks later i found myself in the same scenario, sparring with Clarisse again, actually that is all i do when it comes to training, be with Clarisse
"C'mon curls, thats the best you've got? No need to go easy on me"
"Im not going easy, i already told you, you caught me distracted thats all- GIRL WIll YOU SUSH?"
She tried to block you with her sword, thankfully for her, a succeded attempt.
"How could i? You're so fun to mess with, gets all red n all"
"Oh you want to talk about getting red?"
In a moment i was on the floor, Clarisse on top of me, and i couldnt speak, all i could do was stare into her big brown eyes, who looked right into my soul.
"Cant speak anymore huh? Oh if you could see the red im seeing-"
Now this my ladies and gentlemen, this is what i call a shot of faith.
I raised my head a little and just..i kissed her, it was quick but I did it, and her face went blank.
"Now you are breathtaken Curls, how about that?"
"And you are still breathtaking"
Still?
Oh
Oh.
"You...like me Clarisse?"
"You didnt knew?"
Oh.
"....no..?"
"Would you walk away if i kissed you this time?"
"....no."

Nice To Meet You
Natasha Romanoff x Reader (Pronouns not specified)
Summary : You're new to the avengers, and meet the infamous Black Widow for the first time. Do you interest her, or are you just another person?
Warnings: Just sarcasm and overall cute.
P.S I had previously posted this, but had all my fic deleted, so I'm having it posted again
________
The Avengers Tower was alive with activity as Natasha Romanoff entered the common area. The team had been informed about a new member joining them, and Natasha, known for her somewhat reserved demeanor, was intrigued to meet the person who had caught Nick Fury's attention.
As she entered the room, her gaze landed on you, standing a few inches taller than her and engaged in a lively conversation with Wanda Maximoff. Your slight British accent and outgoing demeanor immediately caught Natasha's attention, but she maintained her usual cool exterior.
Wanda noticed Natasha approaching and grinned, waving you over. "Nat, this is Y/N. Y/N, meet Natasha Romanoff," she introduced with a playful smirk.
You turned towards Natasha, extending a hand. "Nice to meet you, Natasha. Wanda here has been telling me all about the infamous Black Widow. I'm hoping her stories are true."
Natasha assessed you with a raised eyebrow before finally shaking your hand. "We'll see."
Over the next few days, you proved your worth to the team with your medical expertise and combat skills. Natasha observed your interactions with a measured curiosity, not easily swayed by the outgoing nature that seemed to be second nature to you.
One evening, after a particularly grueling training session, you and Natasha found yourselves alone in the gym. Natasha was honing her skills, and you were diligently working on perfecting your moves. There was a palpable tension between the two of you, a silent acknowledgment of each other's capabilities.
As Natasha executed a precise series of kicks, you couldn't resist a sarcastic comment. "Impressive, Nat. I almost forgot you're not just the resident ice queen."
Natasha shot you a sidelong glance, her expression giving away nothing. "Almost. You're not too bad yourself, for someone who talks as much as Stark during a press conference."
You grinned, reveling in the banter. "Well, talking is an art, Natasha. Not everyone can appreciate it."
Without missing a beat, you mimicked her moves, injecting a bit of humor into the routine. Natasha didn't react overtly, but a subtle quirk of her lips suggested a hint of amusement.
In the following days, your interactions with Natasha became a delicate dance of sarcasm and skill. You found ways to break through her stoic facade, and she responded with a dry wit that matched your own. One day, during a mission briefing, Tony , leaning against the Quinjet with a smirk, quipped during the mission briefing, "I've upgraded the Quinjet, folks. Now it's not just state-of-the-art; it's Stark-of-the-art. I know, I'm a genius, thank me later."
You couldn't let Tony's comment slide without a retort. Smirking, you raised an eyebrow and replied, "Well, Stark, if your upgrades are as functional as your relationships, we might want to consider taking the stairs next time." The room burst into laughter, including Natasha, who couldn't help but crack a smile. Tony, momentarily taken aback, playfully rolled his eyes. "Oh, someone call the burn unit. We've got a comedian on the team."
"Looks like even the ice queen can appreciate a good dose of sarcasm," you remarked afterwards when you had sat yourself next to the redhead, earning a subtle smirk from her.
As time passed, Natasha Romanoff found herself acknowledging the camaraderie that had formed between you two. The Avengers Tower became witness to the unlikely friendship and something more that blossomed between the thought to be frigid assassin and the outgoing doctor, proving that even in the high-stakes world of superheroes, a well-timed quip and a shared smirk could go a long way.

A Tumblr Quick Start Guide
A year ago, I realized that every time I logged onto Twitter, I felt my blood pressure rise. It's a platform that runs on anger and outrage, and I wanted someplace better to spend my screen time. In my almost-year on Tumblr, I now realize I log on here and get one or two good laughs every time I check my dashboard.
Tumblr has given me a lot lately, but it is a bit different than other platforms. I'd like to give back a little and provide a quick-start guide on how being new to Tumblr worked for me.
Finding Things to Follow
The biggest thing I had to get used to was realizing that on Tumblr, you don't necessarily follow people or celebrities or politicians. You follow your interests. In fact, it's pretty common to follow only strangers that post things you like. That can make your empty dash daunting to fill! Let's fill it with things you love and make you happy.
Make a list, mental or otherwise, of things you're interested in. Be both broad and specific! Board Games. Magic The Gathering. Supernatural. Marvel. Video Games. 8-Bit. Urban planning. Any and all things that you like!
Pick one of your interests and search for that tag. Flip between "Latest" and "Top" and browse around to see what kind of content is in that tag. You'll notice images, art, gif sets, TikToks, videos, essays - all sorts of things!
If you see a lot of things you like, cool! Click the button to Follow that tag if you want to keep up to date on it and find things later (we'll come back to this).
If you see a post you love, check out who posted or reblogged it. Scroll around on their blog. Do they post similar stuff? Are there other things you like here? Are they posting often? If you like what they post, follow the blog! Congrats, you've followed your first blog!
Take some time and check out some other tags and follow the same process - follow tags you like and blogs you might be interested in. It's not possible to over-follow! You can always curate your list later. This isn't Twitter - no one cares if you unfollow someone. Find what makes you happy.
Go back to your main dashboard - how are things looking? Filled with things you're interested in? Excellent. If things don't work for you, don't be afraid to unfollow blogs.
Want to follow more blogs? New episode of Andor drop? Go to the "Your Tags" header and scroll around to find some more juicy content. Check out blogs you like, follow 'em if you like em, rinse and repeat! That's curating your dash!
Your Blog is Your House
Okay, so you have a dashboard of content that you like - but what do you do with it all? Someone once described a Tumblr blog to me like your little house that you can fill with all the things you like. There is no rhyme or reason, and you don't need an excuse to reblog something other than the fact that you liked it!
If you see something you like, reblog it! To me, I reblog things when I say "I like this and I want it to live in my house so other people can see it when they come visit"
Reblogging is like passing a message along to other people. You can just reblog it on its own to amplify it, or you can add your own tags, or if you have a funny reaction gif/thought/video/thousand-word-essay, add to it when you reblog!
Use tags. People actually find posts through tags here. Use them to help people discover that really cool reblog you found! You can also search for tags on specific blogs. This makes them great for categorizing posts on your own blog. For example, I use #2022 Game Journal when I blog about whatever game I'm playing so I can do a year-end review later and find all the posts later.
Like things too. Likes don't amplify posts, but they're nice to let a poster know you appreciated it! I also use likes a bookmark. Sometimes I don't have time to watch that TikTok, so I'll like it as a reminder to come back to it later.
Be Weird. You can have sideblogs to hold more specific content, but don't be afraid to just scoop up anything you like and put it in your house! Reblogging is how content gets passed around.
Random Blog Tips
Wow nice job, your blog's looking great! Before you know it, someone will find it, check out your posts, and maybe give you a follow if they like what you've made or what your reblog! The last thing I'll touch on here are some nitty-gritty tips that can help you think about all the meta stuff about Tumblr:
Tumblr is the most anonymous social media platform. No one has to know who you are. Take advantage of all the privacy options.
You can also hide likes and who you follow from public view - that's no one else's business! Turn off asks too if you want.
Play around with your settings in general - there are lots of customization options and other dash tabs that you can use to find new content. You can also turn on timestamps so you know if a post you see is a "heritage post," as they say. Content is evergreen here and I personally like to see that in action.
You can filter and hide tags that you don't want to see.
Just block people liberally, it's cool.
You can pay to remove ads (nice), but you can also leave the option to see Blazed posts on. Blazed posts are ones that people pay for impressions for - and any post can be Blazed. The kicker is, there's no ad targeting. It can be quite funny or quite annoying depending on what you want.
When viewing the notes on a post, you'll see comments, reblogs, and likes. For the reblogs section, I like to filter by "Comments only" to find what people have added to the post.
Like all social media sites, there are dark corners here. I think Tumblr more than most puts you in control to curate your Dashboard to only see what you want. Block a user, hide a post, and move on.
That should be quite enough to get started! Tumblr can take a little more time to "get" compared to other social media platforms (and get in on the long-running jokes!), but trust me, after a week, you'll notice the difference between checking your Tumblr dashboard and checking your Twitter timeline.
Your blood pressure will thank you.

one thing that will not leave my head is mysterio's drones. they're like his main thing in ffh but we've barely seen them do anything yet. and in the comics what i gathered, from my very limited research, is that he still uses illusions but also uses hypnosis and gas/chemicals to fight spider-man. that makes his interest in fear gas way more dangerous because in his (i think) first comics appearance he was able to get around peter's spider sense with some sort of gas and also dissolved his webs. which is obviously very bad news if you do end up using his chemical prowess in lof considering how much your peter seems to rely on his spider sense.
idk i feel like there's a lot beck's doing behind the scenes that you're just not letting us see and it's making me super anxious. and that's not even touching on the fact that tony and the other's might not even know loki's talking to peter.
lastly, (you probably won't answer this one) are the assassins "the enforcers" from spider-man comics? they had a run in with ned in one of those comics (they kidnapped betty who was ned's wife in those comics ig but also im not sure if they even knew ned was alive when they did that) so it just seems like they're the most likely assassins to be going after ned and harley right now.
there's definitely a lot happening behind the scenes that i don't show!! i like to have readers figure it out and make theories as we go along, just like Peter is having to do! though there are SOME things that are important for us to know that Peter doesn't, and we'll get into that in a few chapters. we'll get back to Mysterio and Ohnn later but right now, it's definitely a question of what Loki is up to and why he's up to it- and how he did it. i've been dropping hints for a few chapters now and i'm sure everyone will freak out when it's revealed :3
let's just say that Loki's motivations are very complicated, but Mysterio is very straightforward with what he wants. that fear gas will come back into play in a, frankly, horrific way, but they'll figure it out!! they always do :) and it might just help someone find their way into the family...
we gotta get all of this out of the way in order to move into the next arcs: one where we see what's going on in Marvel POV since we last saw them, and one where Mysterio and Ohnn make their final move ;3 As for the assassins...
well, Ned sure is dealing with something, but Loki might not have been as honest as he wanted Peter to believe. i gave a hint to what Ned's been up to in some Ned and Peter art i shared a while back, but no one's quite caught on yet (for good reason, as i might have twisted canon around a whole lot for this to work)
#erinwantstowrite#ao3#ao3 fanfic#leap of faith ao3#peter parker#leap of faith catch me if you can#leap of faith#thank you for the ask!#loki#mysterio#jonathan ohnn#ned leeds#spider-man#spider man and batman

So, if you haven't read the latest - Post Plus is officially dead. The burial looks to be around January 2024.
I'm neither happy or sad about it. If anything, I'm feeling more of something akin to relief. Running a "viral “misinformation” campaign" as The Verge and Daddy Matt called this little operation has been taxing. For the record, and as I've stated multiple times, I didn't have much of a problem with P+ in general. I just thought it was a bad idea when the lifeblood of the site is gifs and fandom. There was bound to be mixing of fandom and paywalls (it was even encouraged in the earliest days by staff) and that was going to end badly somewhere down the line. Sorry but that's just the way I was taught of fandom in the geocities days. Then again, I obviously wasn't the only one who shared those feeling but I digress.
It's over now.
No more subposting and snarky tagging by either sides. No more 'undercover staffers' in my inbox. No more users thinking I'm the antichrist because they think I'm interfering with their inevitable influencer status that they hoped to gain by posting Instagram type shit behind a $1.99 block.
It's all thankfully over. I'll be deleting this little blog in February, so reblog anything you might need later. I would love to see my "make art" post hit 10,000 notes before then but we'll see. It was my proudest moment in all of this. In the beginning, I considered revealing my private tumblr at the end but I think I'll keep that secret.
And lastly,
You were all great. All of you, even the ones that hated my guts. I won't say it was fun but it was fascinating being apart of something that generated so much passion. Keep being you, make art, and be messy. Be fantastic.
Much love,
Auntie Triple-P

BiAsBuck’s ficrec Fridays
Less that a week to go!! Happy fraturday, and a very happy birthday to Mr Guzman. Here's another round of the fic I've been reading this week, you can find previous rec lists here.
21 September 2024
ice cream before dinner by cloudydaisies is a pitch perfect Eddie POV fic as he babysits Mara and Jee-Yun following 7x10, winning them over with icecream tuesdays, love and support. I saw so many people loving on this and then caught my eye even more with some gorgeous cover art by @walkingonawire and yes, everyone was right, it absolutely melted my heart. Just a beat for beat joy of a fic, Eddie's internal journey and the sweet bond of trust and love built between the trio, as he awaits Chris' return, and allows himself to open his heart up to Buck along the way. Beautifully written and delightful!
all you're giving me is friction by @henswilsons ahhhh such a wonderful 5+1 buddie fic in which Eddie joins the 118 and Hen is a little worried that Buck's flirting with him will cross a line...seeing as he's wearing a wedding ring. This is such a fun fic with the elephant in the room...because you know what she doesn't know you know, right? And waiting for the reveal and watching it dawn on them is so brilliantly funny in execution.
wherever you roam (you'll always want me) by @buddieism canon divergent following 7x05 in which Eddie would rather 'go to his grave repressed and miserable than ever take away from Buck’s happiness.' But in unpacking what would make Eddie himself happy, he comes to realise with some help and a look at what brought him to this point in his life that that might not be up to him. Aching and painfully cathartic and ultimately full of hope.
the cat's meow by @exhuastedpigeon GIVE. EDDIE. A CAT. (Do it for me!) When Eddie finds a box of abandoned kittens at the side of the road, he takes them to the shelter...but falls ass over teakettle for little calico Pinto (like the beans). Reluctant to let on to the existence of his new furry little friend, he keeps her close to his chest. When Buck finds out, he's unable to resist falling under the spell of her charms...or her owners. Sweet, romantic fluff...with such great character voice....and whiskers!! So freakin' cute.
glass on the pavement under my shoe by @doitbuckley a Buck POV fic under Gerrards command, taking a risk that puts his life on the line to save Eddie. But all these years later, he's not sure he's so readily okay with having to say goodbye for real, even in the line of duty. Some lyrically written introspection and growth from Buck here in the way he understands and embraces life vs death situations.
Hot Ghost Problems by @ebjameston in which Eddie is a natural born witch in a world where magic isn't a secret though he keeps it close to his chest. But on joining the 118 he meets Buck...only Evan Buckley is the firefighter who died that Eddie was here to replace. Tethered together by magic, Buck refuses to move on, and in staying around he saves Eddie along the way. With some excellent Diaz sister cameos, a brilliantly intriguing mystery, and a whole heap of magic, they race against time to save the day and might just get to keep their happily ever after. I had such a great time reading this one from 2023!
the tortured poets department by @colonoscopys more magic! 'The first time Buck touched him, Eddie blew an ambulance up.' Magic sparks under his skin, and falling in love with Buck feels a lot like when it overwhelms him with feeling. Eddie thinks he's doing a good job keeping it secret, but somethings are obvious to those who know what signs to look out for. This one felt like a little bit of magic shared, sweet, sexy and full of all sorts of sparks!
Okay let's leave it there for this week. Next week we'll have a new episode to play with! Can you believe it? I'll be on a little work trip and then a vacation so looking forward to joining you all in the sandbox soon. So excited to be back with the firefam again.

How do you choose colours for your art?
ohhh. it's always tricky for me to explain this.. im still new to all this color biz and I'm still learning. i'll do my best to explain 1. opposites the thing i really really love to do is to use the opposite of a color on a different side of a color wheel
I chose orange, and then I chose blue for the shadow because it's on the opposite side of a color wheel from it. But! Between blue and orange is a HUGE gap that might look awkward. So! I use the color between blue and orange - green! You can see it on a color wheel that theyre between each other, and you can see how I used it mainly on a head as, again, a shadow, and you can see that its neighbor is almost always blue.
It might still look awkward tho. So I chose the color between green and the color that it's the neighbor of, and I try to make them blend by using colors between them, by using strokes, dots, and so on. And by just blending You can also see that I used purple to make the shadows stronger and to make the antennas uhhh more interesting. I chose it because its next to the dark blue.. i'll talk about that later
so basically its just a rainbow i know its something something color theory and you can read about it but personally ive seen a lot of videos and articles about it and it just hasnt really ..helped. yeah i understand that i need to use opposite colors but it still was so confusing!! i look at the canvas and have no idea what to do even though i watched things !! how the hell do i do it!!! huh!! What REALLY made me understand more is that I took a work of an artist that I really love who uses opposite colors STUNNINGLY and then I looked at what colors they used there and HOW. What saturation they usually use. Why and when their blue is actually red on a color wheel, but it looks like blue and how can i do the same. What repeats in their work? Etc. It really helped me, so I advise you to do something similar? Because it revealed a lot to me. Maybe it's not REALLY what the artist does, maybe their process is different, but it doesn't matter tho i still recommend watching some videos on basic color theory if you haven't already. it still isn't useless
again. orange, opposite blue, green between them 2. okay now about the blue that's actually red and other shenanigans
see that blue?
yeag. i love it when it happens. but actually it's almost always unintentional! because what i really did was TAKE ORANGE AND THEN THE COLOR ON THE OPPOSITE OF IT - BLUE!!!!!
And then i made it more transparent!
see that green?
!!! the same thing! it's not green
The color between orange and blue is, yet again. green, so i took it, made it more transparent and yada yada. here's another example
shadow looks like green, but color wheel shows its not green, but actually it is green i just made it more transparent
you get the idea. its the same thing as using the opposite colors, but you make them more transparent 3. if you can use the same color then why not use the same color lol. i like to be frugal
4. neighboring colors here is my first(..almost) attempt to use opposite colors! But i also used colors that are neighbors to each other on a color wheel
it goes lower and lower not only in brightness and saturation, but also in colour! another example
5. gradient maps can be a big changer a) no gradient maps or anything
b) i go here https://yoksel.github.io/svg-gradient-map c) i get a new pic and make it blurry in sai(making it blurry is not a necessary step)
d) i mess around and also put yellow on top of everything. looks much better!
6. Rectangles okay this one is a MESS hahA ... but i often try to make a rectangle . in a color wheel-
and/or in a square!
or somewhere close Another example
if we'll combine them and look at the placement of circles you can see a rectangle!!! that's what i try to do when i choose colors. i love rectangless if you'll look at the colors i picked here(orange purple green) in your art program, you'll see a rectangle again! Also i used neighboring colors biz on the berries. im sure its not how's it called but lol im not a professional i dont see the need to know it
also i never use white. its a super popular rule but still. theres also a rule to not use absolutely the blackiest black buutt idkk i use it for borders usually i also use this thang a lot . oftentimes it helps me realize that i've made the drawing too pale again. maybe if you tweak it you'll see the result you like more, too!
i dunno what else to tell you about.. hmmm. once again i really recommend you to just take the art you really like and look at the colors in your art program using the color picker. Try to find repeating patterns and try do do something similar. That's what i did! i REALLY hope this was useful .... if you have other questions i'll try to answer. and thank you for asking !! i'm really flattered that someone is curious to know how i color... :)
