What's ur inspo for art? ur art style is so cute... any art advice?? Jajsjdkkaka, I understand if u wanna gatekeep 👁👁
I meant to answer this several days ago but couldn't find it in the sea of asks welp
Anyway as I mentioned before we don't gatekeep art related stuff in this household, artists help other artists.
Honestly it's hard to name an inspo but I do have artists I look up to a lot (this might be a bit long)
Kanisuke, you guys might be familiar with her, she's the artist of the upcoming yandere inside game Yandere Town. I know it's not out yet but I'm actually obsessed with this game and have even translated all the character intros (they are a bit old atp so there might be some mistakes) and actually if you see a Yandere Town related post high chance it's from me. Not only her art but I love her writing style as well.
Hakuri-sensei, their manga Sachi iro no One Room is definitely one of my biggest inspirations. I love the relationship between Sachi and her "captor" and it's the only manga I actually cried my eyes out while reading.
Tayu-sensei, all of their work for Yuugen Romantica (one of my fav drama cd series) are breathtaking and they've also developed even more since then, their current works are just so stunning and I love studying the way they draw hair
Shirahama-sensei, she👏is👏a👏queen👏 honestly I don't have much to say, go read Witch Hat Atelier it's an artistic masterpiece and a giant love letter to art itself
Furumi-sensei, another queen! She's the artist of my favorite Fate Grand Order character Ashiya Douman. I've even bough her art books before, honestly she is just so talented. I don't know what she was drinking when she came up with Douman but I need some of it
Usagi Routo-sense, another fgo artist AND JUST LOOK AT HOW INCREDIBLE THEY ARE AT USING COLORS LIKE??? HOW??? Their art is like cocain for my eyes I could look at them for hours
AU, one more fgo artist and oh my god guys this person right here is one of my biggest inspirations just look at their drawings. I'm not kidding I actually spent hours just inspecting how they shade outfits. I'd sacrifice my soul just to get a chance to watch them draw live
☝︎ FAN, an Ashiya Douman fanartist and god guys the comics they draw!!! They are the cause of some of my current biggest fetishes ngl
Oyo-sensei, an fgo artist and is also the main artist of 18trip. They have such a clean art style that's very pleasing to the eye. I especially love the reference sheets they draw.
Shibatora-sensei, she is the artist of my FAVORITE drama cd series Shinai naru Thanatos and my overall favorite yandere character from any fiction Seo Eito. Honestly if you know me irl probably the first thing you'd mention about me would be my chronic Shinai naru Thanatos addiction because based on what everyone says I start speaking about it within 2 weeks of meeting someone new.
ORKA, the artist of A Stepmother's Marchen. Anyone who knows that manhwa probably knows why she's on this list, her art has so much soul and passion in it, literally every single panel looks like a painting and it makes me want to cry just looking at it
82 Pigeon, an incredible incredible Korean artist, I think they also give art lessons? I really tried to get them but couldn't figure out how. They also have a youtube channel and I learn a lot just by watching their speedpaints

hi anon ty for sending the message! I did look through their blog and they very obviously use AI - I would've published the ask normally to let other people know but I decided against it in the end because after a closer inspection I noticed that all commissions are fake (besides being fake art I mean) and they're not actually scamming anyone because. uh. literally most of the blogs I saw interact with them are empty rp blogs that are blatantly controlled by them and one of the commissions I saw on their patreon was for a defunct ohsc rp blog from 2014??? Which honestly was really funny.
so yeah, they're very much not pulling any money from that, and on top of it all they posted pics of themselves sooooo yeh, not going to blast them on a blog with a big following for trying the 'i dont use ai im a real artist' but ultimately not scamming anyone out of their money. They're also not the best at like... hiding they're using AI because you can see their traditional art in other posts, and the style or experience level doesn't match at all.
I will post some of their AI stuff underneath the read more and point out the inconsistencies tho, to help out other people in spotting out ai shit (esp non artists that might have an harder time figuring things out). If you find out the original user that posted these, please don't harass them, be civil.
BTW I'M SAYING THIS NOW: if you see something I point out and say ''ah, I do that, I'm in trouble" - no you're not, if you actually draw the stuff yourself. You can see when an artist's work (and mistakes!) are genuine. Beginner's mistakes can be made by experienced artists too, but if you look at their entire body of work you can see when something doesn't add up.
to start off, I saw anon calling them out on this one so I'm just reiterating some of the points, but here's some junko 'art' they made
Tumblr media Tumblr media
when confronted abt it, they said that the fingers look weird because they can't control their shaky hands and drawing small is hard. anyway if you draw digitally you can zoom in on the canvas and work on a detail as big as you need, so that excuse doesn't hold
this other post was basically what made me just say 'yep thats ai' and it was just the second 'art' post I saw from them
Tumblr media
while taken alone they could've been a little harder to spot as AI, with them all bundled together you can easily see they came from the same prompt; the user tried to justify the inconsistencies saying it was because they were 'experimenting' with the design of their oc and gundham's scar but I'm telling you now, no sane artist fully renders four pieces that are basically the same concept while changing the design of the character just slightly in every single one of them. anyway, here's the breakdown of every piece:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
another that was way easier to break down because it's so full of inconsistencies the moment you really take a look at it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
also let's be real if you render art like that you're not gonna put a bright purple unreadable text on your supposed vtuber "art"
let's end this with the AI "commission" that could be harder to break down as AI if seen in a vacuum now, shall we? esp because our friend, the fucked up melty finger, isn't there
I honestly had to look for a while at this one because if you had shown it to me and I didn't see the other stuff this person posted, I could've just chalked up a lot of these mistakes to human error. Tangents between lines, scribbles for details, forgotten uncolored sections is all normal stuff. BUT we know this person used AI in all the other posts, so we know what to look at:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
again, some mistakes the AI does can be also mistakes actual artists do: be sure to check the other art the user makes before throwing accusations
they also posted a fake speedpaint that is so embarassing it made me laugh but if I start pointing out inconsistencies in an AI speedpaint we're gonna be here for a long time, so.
TL;DR AI 'ART' SIGNS:
The classics: hands and fingers don't make sense, there's additional weird lines and they melt into other part of the drawing
long hair strands and other long or flowy elements can suddenly disappear behind objects and not reappear where they should
jewels, intricate details, hairpins and other accessories bend and melt into each other and other part of the design
the resolution of the image is very low and/or grainy - a lot of artists post lower res pieces online, but again: look for a pattern and combos of all the other signs
inconsistencies between multiple art posts, character designs constantly being different, sudden art style changes - while this can also be found with real artists, this is an additional tell of someone using AI, when combined with the stuff I mentioned above. humans mistakes usually have a reason for what they happen, AI makes them because it doesnt understand what it's doing most of the time

Hey guys! I'm putting out a call for my commissions again for two big reasons: One, Emergencies have caused me to be low on funds when I wasn't expecting it, and that kind of sucks actually. Two, I have a project that I've been dreaming about for years but have actually been able to start working towards in the last couple of months, but to finish it I need to not be living paycheck to paycheck for like a month at the very least, which brings me back to point one :(. I will talk more about the big project under the cut, bc I think it's something you all might really enjoy!
But for now, I will link my commission sheet: Here (It's also my pinned post)
And my new Ko-fi!: Here for if you just want to donate, which would be literally incredible and I would owe you my soul actually.
Ok now for big Project Time!!!
I am in the process of editing and revising my first Youtube video! This has been an on and off dream of mine for like 7 years at this point, but I've finally taken the plunge and gotten to work on a channel. I wanna talk about all sorts of fandoms (including the riordanverse ofc) With videos ranging from plot and character analysis, to trends in fandom culture in general, to fun little ranking videos and speedpaints. All around, I just want the channel to be a fandom hive, where everyone can find something they enjoy.
I already have PNG's created of my sona to use as assets (And I have a sparkly new sona, the one in the pic above!) and I have two finished scripts, with the first one being fully recorded as well! One for my first video, which will be a retrospective on Gravity Falls, and one for a video about the Percy Jackson TV show, the inherent differences between TV and books as mediums, how I think the TV show could improve, and the things I think it got perfectly. I also have a bunch more ideas, such as:
BIG Trials of Apollo video essay, with a focus on how the books and the fandom have effected me over the years.
Ranking all of my favorite characters from all of the media I've been a fan of over the years (This would be over 70 characters)
Explaining the Iliad, but make it funny (with a side of Troy apologia)
Reading Lore Olympus and pointing out how it deviates from myth (the things I'm willing to do for you people /j)
Canon vs. Fanon, where I compare a characters canon characterization with their fanon counterpart and try to figure out how things turned out the way they did.
And more, but I don't want this post to be 5000 words long.
Now here's the big question. As I said in the part above, I'm struggling a bit now money-wise. And I really wanna make this project work, but there's also, you know. Tuition. Rent. Food. Stupid other adult stuff. So if anyone is amenable (and this is totally up to demand, I don't wanna pressure anyone into doing anything!) I was also thinking of maybe making a Patreon. Now, I'd have to do research for this, bc I wanna make sure anyone who signed up would get the right rewards and really get the bang for their buck. I'm pretty sure there's not gonna be much interest in this rn, cuz like, I'm not that big of a blog oof. But if anyone is interested! Here are some of the perks I would definitely be implementing! (sry it's another list)
Early access to videos, and behind the scenes looks at art assets and video creation
the ability to request topics for videos
Patrons names being shown in the videos. And higher tiered patrons getting custom chibis that will be shown in videos as well (and given to the patrons obv)
This ones a bit complicated, but I want to create a cover of a song that has to do with each video to play during their outros. So like, for the gravity falls video, I'm gonna record a quick cover of the Disco Girl song from the show. Only a small section of the song would be in each video, but patrons would get access to the full covers, and be able to request songs to be covered.
Discounts on commissions
A monthly speedpaint that would be exclusive to patreon. Patrons would be able to vote on what the drawing would be.
All of these ideas I'm 100% sure I want to add to a patreon if I make one, but obv there could be more that comes up later. I'm just gauging interest on this idea rn, so let me know if that's something you'd be down to sign up for! Maybe I'm jumping the gun here but I'm just really excited to create and give back to the community and aaahhhhh
Now, no matter what, I'm gonna have this first video out by mid-September at the latest. Because stupid money troubles are not gonna stop me from making this a thing dangit. So look out for that, I'll link the vid here when it releases! But I am just really stressed rn and any support would go a long way towards making this dream come true. And on that note, one more sappy real talk if I am allowed it?
If you've read this far, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. This community and fandom is truly incredible. My blog is about to reach 5 years old, and I've never seen a group of people so accepting and creative and just fun to be around. You guys have truly changed my life, and I wouldn't have the courage to try for this if I didn't have the support you've given me. I know this is super dramatic for just trying to make a youtube channel, but making a place where I could just talk about all the nerdy and overly specific things I care about and share them with the world is something I've wanted for my whole life. You guys gave me that with this blog, and if this channel works out, it'll be thanks to you, so you'll have given it to me twice. I don't have the words to express how much I love this community and all the incredible people in it. So even if you can't support, just know that being here for however long you have been, whether it's the whole five years or the last two days, has done more than you'll ever know. You guys are the best, thank you for everything <3

i adore your paintings so muchhh would you happen to have any other tips or tutorials for your process? anything from thumbnailing all the way to final render
Thank you 😭♥ I appreciate that a lot!! To start with I've got my advice tag (both new and veeery old stuff lol), & my youtube has a couple of speedpaints on it, one with commentary including process, brushes etc
In terms of general stuff about how I approach painting, I tend to tailor the method to the desired outcome. I talk about it more in depth on this post here, I also link to some references & tutorials that I really enjoy/recommend!
Besides that though, I guess I can do a little walkthrough of the Whisper & Tangle painting I uploaded a few months ago, since I tried something new with it that I pseudo integrated into my workflow & could be fun to talk about? 🤔
Tumblr media
SO yes, I do always thumbnail when I'm doing a bigger painting, and they're definitely not pretty LOL. I usually use the colour fill lasso just to block in basic shapes and values with a gradient map slapped on the top -- I ended up swapping the values around in the end because it let me use the fireflies as the sole light source, making it more character focused! Then it's the usual process of resketching it all & flatting in the base colours (I also added Whisper's wisps hehe), then adding shading:
Tumblr media
This is how I usually approach it, w/ all the shading layers clipped to the original flats to preserve editing. Multiply, screen & overlay are the most common layer modes I use while doing this, and if I'm ever struggling I'll sometimes add a gradient map too in order to unify awkward colours etc. The new thing I tried for this painting was doing what's often nicknamed as a 'clown pass' -- which is using hard edged shapes to create an easily-accessible selection mask for each part:
Tumblr media
It looks Super funny but I actually found it very helpful, and I ended up using it to select & cut out all of their body parts onto seperate layers, which were then alpha locked. It meant I could go ham w/ large or textured brushes, smudges etc without worrying about losing those edges, or accidentally over-rendering and screwing up the anatomy in the process!!
Tumblr media
I've kept doing something similar since, though it's a bit more dialed back; mainly using the lasso select to chop it up directly and preserve specific/necessary edges, grouping up similar body parts on a single layer etc.
After doing all that, I sat down and started rendering. The background was all blocked in & detailed with a hard round brush and these amazing brushes from Devin Elle Kurtz. There isn't anything super insightful that I think I could type on how I render, but I do have that speedpaint I mentioned earlier that'll probably shed more light. It's just a lot of eyedropping & painting, rinse and repeat
When rendering is done I usually add a concoction of adjustment layers, as well as an overlay w/ a noise texture on it. I also sharpen it all after doing so! These are the ones that I ended up adding for this painting:
Tumblr media
The dupe & blur is a fun thing that doesn't always work, but it looks super neat when the painting itself calls for it, especially when paired w/ that noise texture. It can make stuff look like an old/low quality photograph or recording -- here's another example w/ a shadow and amy doodle I posted a few months ago:
Tumblr media
That's about it for this painting, the majority of the time spent on it was honestly me rendering those damn leaves 🥲 Very tedious but worth it & it was a really good learning experience. I'm not sure if any of this will prove useful but thank you so much for sending in the ask, & if you (or anyone else reading this) wants a similar breakdown for a different painting of mine, please do let me know and I'll try my best to do one!! 🥺💞

do u have art tips (for like anatomy and face expressions and angles)? I was scrolling though your ACC and when I tell you I’m eating ur art, I’m actually digesting it as we speak, I love it sm 😭😭
TRACE!!!! IDC WHAT ANYONE ELSE SAYS. TRACE ART AND LEARN FROM IT. USING 3D MODELS IS OKAY ‼️‼️ PROFESSIONALS DO IT AND YOU CAN TOO ‼️‼️‼️
but of course, don't post it online or claim it as yours, that's just wrong 🫶
BTW THIS IS JUST WHAT I DO. IF ANYONE ELSE HAS SOME TIPS, DROP THEM IT'LL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
Tumblr media
art rules are meant to be broken-💥💥💥
i think i'm the worst person to ask for tips cause i don't follow my own guidelines. i've only recently started to use references but i'm usually too lazy to search for them. which is pretty bad since i can't really visualize stuff in my head (your artist has aphantasia)
when i do half body to full body poses, i just use 3d models and start from there. i usually adjust things to my liking after i copy out the pose. i'm still currently learning anatomy so idk what tips to give about it rn BUT i do have some tips
Tumblr media
i think angles helps a lot with what mood you want to convey in a drawing. it may also help with expressions. you can use boxes for drawing different angles of the head. i do this when the angle of the head i'm drawing is hard to draw.
Tumblr media
an example on how i used it:
another thing you can try is to learn an artist's anatomy style by drawing guidelines on top of a drawing like this:
Tumblr media
see how everything is placed and what bodypart is line with what like: the eyes are in the same height as the tip of the ears, the elbow is line with the dip of the waist, etc.
just adjust stuff to your liking. your work doesn't have to be super anatomically accurate, if it is, there's a possibility that the pose might look stiff so change up some things and exaggerate them. just practice some angles, it'll become muscle memory in time.
if it looks nice, then it's good enough 👍
observe and redraw. it's just copying art styles i like and attempting to incorporate it into my own art. my art style inspos are wildwolf_group and donaldakron (i’m also absolutely in love with their lighting and shading) on twitter because the way they draw hair is so nice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
study art styles 👍 i like looking at their sketches and studying how they do specific things like hair and faces in different angles. pinterest is a huge help if you want art inspo. it's okay to copy poses from artworks but be careful to not copy it entirely if the pose looks complicated or unique, you might get accused of theft 😓 (it's brutal out here)
Tumblr media
if you want more art tips, i recommend watching bluebiscuits's videos on youtube. speedpaints have also helped me a lot in the past (we need to bring them back <///33) i also recommend watching art streams. i spend a lot of my time on twitch. it helps understand how an artist draws and may also provide inspo.
some art streamers i frequently watch are: uqi32, yyebuan, meanddeadlines, eo58, mikamuse, Teikki_, hazmatEN, jianrouVT, manda, KandaEm, neg_illustration, AmefuRin, owohiropon, shengtaki, thekansta, pixzli, gravitydusty. I KNOW IT'S A LOT BUT I'M ON TWITCH 24/7 😭
there's also user-cm2co1hw2u (twitter: pdman2) and kuzuvine (twitter: ksk535) on youtube
that's all for now. if some of you have more questions (whether personal or art related) just ask away. i don't bite :)

hello! 👋 i am working on a fire emblem 3 houses fan-story/fanfiction that will be either a comic or a writing heavily illustrated. this blog is to track my progress and have all extra art in one place! the final story will be put elsewhere.
I will only post my artworks and fe3h related art. If i ever reblog anything it will be tagged reblog, art by op or not mine.
i'm over 18, i don't mind who you are, i am not here to interact badly with anyone and i don't post nsfw content so it should be safe for everyone to follow. it is ok to like/reblog/follow. you don't have to ask me : ) you can ask me stuff related to my work, and fire emblem 3 houses only. not 3 hopes. I have not finished the game and would like to not be spoiled, thank you! any personal questions will be ignored.
navigation help:
tags i use each student/member will be tagged with first name, sometimes full name, but if there is a lot in one picture i will only do first name i also tag houses black eagles: be golden deers: gd blue lions: bli garreg mach member: gm
various art comics speedpaint all art are tagged fanart text for text only post finalized/more polished works use the tag illustration spoiler tag will be added to art that spoils the fan-story as it starts publishing, as for fire emblem 'canon story' please be aware that many part of all routes of the original scenario of the game will be explored and so i will potentially spoil parts of fire emblem 3 houses. I sometimes use designs from 3 hopes, but i do not take this side/view. any similarities would be coincidental.
cw/tw i will flag posts containing nudity and/or blood accordingly with tumblr law, nothing that is beyond what's acceptable on this site will be posted. nudity will be non sxual, blood won't be gre or too graphic.
the story will deal with death/loss, heartache, war and other topics that are also in the original game. if you feel like it might be not good for you, please do protect yourself it is absolutely fine to block me, no hard feelings, you don't have to tell me.
if you want me to tag other things, reach out and i'll see what i can do.

if it's okay, would you mind sharing your art process? your style is SO gorgeous dude. keep it up spardacest nation!!!
Thank you so much anon, and of course! I kinda posted about it on twitter a while ago, but for anyone not also on there, here's a paraphrasing of what I said there! (under a cut bc it's gonna get a bit long)
(speedpaint video from procreate mostly bc like I also said in that post, it's one of the few pieces I've done entirely on procreate and thus entirely recorded kdfjhdk I usually don't do the sketching + painting parts on there but every now and then I get lazy and want to get it all done quick in one program lol! It's not as good as it would look if I were using krita to render (which is what I normally use) but it gets the idea across decently of what it is that I do)
The short version of my process is: sketch, clean up sketch for lineart, then flat colors, then paint over the flats (i make the flats my shadows and paint on the light), then a multiply layer for skin details (like lips, eyebags, etc), then an overlay layer for skin transparency details (red over the ears/nose/fingertips etc), then i do hair over the lineart, then a multiply layer with the contact shadows in a light beige/grey/neutral tone on top of everything else, and then i unify layers, paint over the details, and color correct the HELL out of it The longer version is: SO, first of all, I will say, my entire process for a finished/fully redered piece is pretty scattered and uses a lot of different apps, because after many years of trying out different drawing apps I found that I just worked better when I could incorporate the parts I liked best from each individual one rather than having to adapt to another app entirely! In total, what I use is: autodesk sketchbook and procreate for the first half I do on my ipad, then krita and photoshop on my computer when I'm actually rendering (but any photo editing app instead of ps will do, I'm just used to photoshop bc that's what I learned as my first drawing app WAAAY back in the day lol), and then meitu on my phone for color filters (also any phone editing app with filters in it will do), AND also optional just for references: blender and daz3d on computer + magicposer on my phone The actual step by step of what I do: First of all, if I want to do a detailed, well rendered piece I will start by getting my references ready. That means either just grabbing a screenshot from the game if it's like, a simple portrait, or a photo reference, taking a picture of myself in the right pose/lighting, and if it's something more complex I will recreate the scene in Daz3D to simulate a realistic lighting, OR even just blender (i have the game models for the dmc characters downloaded, so I can just pop them in, pose them and change the lighting to get a realistic idea of what shadows their faces will cast in that specific angle/lighting.) Note: references are pretty essential to me, and there's nothing to be ashamed about for using them! Personally I don't struggle a lot with the drawing/sketching part of art, but my tiny little pea brain cannot fathom how to make an object 3D in my mind, and how to visualize shadows realistically... thus the reliance on 3D programs to do that for me, and then all I have to do is draw what I'm seeing lol. My art improved significantly ever since I started making 3D refs so I could get /exactly/ what I needed - there's still a lot of leeway you need to learn though, because as realistic as the lighting will be in a rendering program, you'll never really get a fully natural looking image, as far as stuff like the body stretching/squishing/pulling when it's in movement, facial expressions, folds in clothing/fabric, etc... so really it's more a guide than something meant to be followed 1:1.
Then, once I'm confident I know exactly what I'm gonna draw/have the idea in my head, I start sketching it in sketchbook. Not really getting very in depth, just blocking out rough shapes - I like sketchbook and to be on my ipad for that because it feels very reminiscent of traditional sketching on paper to me, which while I'm not super confident on my traditional art abilities, I do get the most natural/fluid/non-stiff figures out that way. Then when I think I have the general idea ready, I export the sketch layer as a png and import it into procreate - which is where I kinda start picking at the sketch and polishing it like i'm carving it out haha. Lots of liquify tool, flipping the canvas to check if it's even, blending out some of the lineart to help out with the rendering later, and then polishing up what was once the sketch into serviceable lineart. I usually reimport it back into sketchbook at this stage - while I like procreate for drawing I don't love the brushes I can use for lineart there, and so I usually only draw the "base" naked figure in there - when I'm in sketchbook I use a hard pencil to refine the details, then on a separate layer add all the things "on top" like hair, clothing, etc - usually I can get it pretty easily in one go, and once I'm satisfied I erase the naked body under the clothes and unify the lineart layers. Then I will just do the flats with a hard brush, turning the lineart layer into an overlay layer and coloring things in with the shadow colors. At this point, I export the file as a psd and import it on my computer - I give it a once over in photoshop first to see if there needs to be any adjusting (like whether any layer that has an effect needs to have a different effect, if all the colors look right since the ipad screen isn't the most faithful, if i wanna change the background color, etc), and once I think it's ready enough, I open it up in krita, where I do the actual bulk of the painting/rendering (as to why specifically krita: it's because I've gotten very comfortable with the brush/painting brush dynamics there and cannot seem to get as good results anywhere else, it's just the goldilocks spot of a brush for me haha.) If anyone's curious, here's the brushes I usually use for painting:
Tumblr media
The one in the middle is my go to painting brush, left one for tinier/more refined details, right one for blending out soft shadows (though I learned the hard way to not overuse it, or it will look like I went ham with an airbrush tool lol). (I don't change any of the settings on these brushes, so if you wanna try out the exact ones I use! Just fresh off how they come out the app haha) I paint on the lights on top of the shadows, and just focus on that for the time being - once I'm done with the basic painting, I'll make a separate multiply layer for details like lip color, eye waterlines, makeup if there is any, eyebags, etc, and then adjust the opacity until it feels right - then I'll make an overlay layer with skin translucency details (like, when you hold your hands in front of a light and see the tips of your fingers become bright orange - many parts of your body are always a bit translucent to the blood underneath, specifically parts where the skin is thin like noses, cheeks, joints, knuckles, etc, and I found it makes the character look a lot more alive to add that subtle coloring in) - then usually I do hair on a separate layer on top of the lineart (because that way I can add small flyaways, more details, etc, and just use the lineart as a guide) After that, I'll usually make a multiply layer on top of everything where I'll add contact shadows in a neutral color (usually pretty pale, it'll be darker anyway since it's multiply), and once I feel like I've rendered everything out properly, I save the psd and re-open it on photoshop.
In photoshop, I'll mess around with the layers a little bit more (changing hue/saturation, opacity, etc), fuck around with the background to make it look pleasing, and once I'm happy with it, I'll unify the layers and start color correcting - usually by duplicating the unified layer and messing with the curve/hsl of the image and then changing the opacity of that edited layer until it's as strong or muted as I want it to be - then I also edit the RGB curves individually and adjust the opacity of that also (because I just really like how it ends up looking if I give a bit of a red/warm tint to the shadows lol), and at that point often I will reimport the finished image into procreate for some finalizing touches! Like, blending out shadows that came out too harshly, painting over anything that came out not the way I wanted it, redefining the lineart if it got messy during painting, and adding any extra small detail that might have gotten lost like catchlights, hair shines, hair flyaways, tears, etc. I also do one last round of flipping the canvas and liquify if needed! At this point, I export the finished image both to my computer and my phone - on my phone I open it up on the photo editing app, and add a bunch of different color filters - I don't hesitate from going completely balls to the walls here, and just kinda applying as many filters as will make an image look pleasing to my eye. Once I think it looks good, I'll export the edited image to my computer - and then open both the version without filters and the one with them on photoshop, and use the filtered version as an opacity layer, and adjust it until it doesn't look as crazy anymore lol. One last step I recently started incorporating was also changing the image to grayscale after I'm done, and doing one last round of curves in greyscale to make sure the values look right, and nothing is getting too lost because the values are too similar (because i know i get a bit swept up in getting repulsed by harsh contrasting lighting and can end up washing out all of rendering if I don't check myself kjdfgk) AND that's it! Yes it's a pretty long and chaotic process, but it's coming from years of trial and error and realizing I can just let myself fo whatever makes me happier with the results, and I don't have to stay constrained to one program if I don't like every tool it has to offer/don't have to accept the final image fresh off the painting app as the "finished" image with no adjustments allowed after, lol. I don't find it takes a lot more time than if I didn't do it this way, but YMMV. Hope this was helpful and sorry for taking so long to explain! I just wanted to give a thorough explanation dfhdkhkx

Super swanky introduction don't miss it
Hey, there! I'm Kenny, and I'm a sfw multifandom artist and author!
I'm incredibly interesting and not at all lame please read
Ha-ha fooled you
So yes, hi, hello. I like lots of different medias, and they're always shifting around, so you'll likely see a variety of content here! I usually post digital pieces, but I'm really more of a traditional artist. Sometimes I post the original sketches along with the digitals, though.
As I mentioned before, I'm a sfw artist, but just be warned I dabble in gore and swear on occasion :]
I also take requests but I probably won't act on them right away, and I likely won't if its a media I'm not familiar with. Not every media I like is present on my blog (yet 😈) so if you're wondering if something is an interest of mine, just shoot me an ask! Mine are always shifting so there's new ones all the time. Additionally, life is busy and anxiety waits for nobody, so my posting is relatively inconsistent. Please be patient with me <3
Links to some stuff
My Youtube where I will eventually post processes and speedpaints :] (I'm not good at doing this AT ALL do NOT TRUST ME FOR ON TIME UPLOADS)
My Twitter. Haven't done much here yet, but likely will when I settle into and establish myself on Tumblr first.
My Pinterest where I mostly screw around, any references I use can often be found here. Also some other stuff.
Some more lame facts about me :]
Undiagnosed GAD
ISTP-T
left-handed
learning Spanish!
any pronouns
all my digital art is drawn with my fingers because I can't find a stylus that's compatible with my device 😭
genderfluid and bisexual panic 👍
horrendously delusional™
Super important stuff!!
Basic DNI! This is a safe space for anyone who just wants to have a good time! Any homophobic/transphobic/racist/etc. comments will be deleted and accounts in support of any of these things will be blocked!!
I have every right to ignore an ask or request that makes me uncomfortable! This includes anything that is hostile or mean in nature
Please feel free to use my artwork as a pfp, there's no need to ask for permission! All I ask is that credit is given where credit is due. Reposting my art on other platforms where I'm not active is also fine, just make sure you credit me!! :)
THANKS SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ ILY NOW GO HAVE FUN RAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH
*blows you up with my mind* (affectionate)

you have a sona? i dont think i have seen it yet? [holds out my hand]
yes i do however i have not had a ref for quite some time because i kept getting bored in the middle of making one lol. long post ahead!!!
here are some doodles of em though! this is odd, fun fact i've used him as my sona and alias longer than i've gone by raymond, i made it in 6th grade and had been changing his design slowly since.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
said ref attempts below cut, like i said long post
from like late 2022 i think? crunchy bc i can't find the pictures so it's speedpaint screenshots, the eyes without visor aren't like that anymore i'll post a new thing for that eventually maybe tomorrow and theres no flower on the face but the rest is pretty much the same uhhh the antennae mimic deer antlers but work like satellites sorta, visor line is always up and down when it's on and the light is always neon green, some kind of hoodie is always that light green but the rest of the color notes can be kinda ignored i've been too lazy to do the gradient stuff
Tumblr media Tumblr media
+my original 2018 design drawn in flipaclip with my chromebook trackpad and the design from 2021, 2018 was frame by frame animation of an intro for a youtube channel that never ended up existing at all and 2021 was a 2d rig that i never used
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he was originally an undertale self insert as evidenced by the sans-like qualities lmao
Tumblr media
theres also my spidersona i commissioned my friend (stitchedspider/oleander on twt and here on tumblr, not gonna tag him this is a long post) for with robux late last year but i have yet to draw em or talk to anyone but oleander about the lore... another thing on my to draw list oops

SPEEDPAINT - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uF7SLyLTYo&ab_channel=LizzieLass
"…SAAAMMMM!" *stunned pony noises* --- When you've been rewatching Supernatural and you're also into cute magical ponies.. I don't see a lot of this fandom combo, at least not in the fanfic department, even though I feel like it would work SO WELL together lmao
This was so much fun drawing wtf.  First time doing crossover shit- I really never do it, but I'm kinda into it now. Translating their human traits to pony bodies was challenging,, like the hairstyles took forever! It was fun figuring out the cutiemarks and tryin to make em unique. I thought Sam's should be more centered about being a lore nerd, and Dean's with monster hunting. I wanted Dean to be kinda fluffy lookin, an adorable bean, to contrast with his personality. A cruel cosmic joke. mm, and pony Sam is a stud I,,, I got so many headcannons built up for this crossover... If legit ANYONE is into this, I might post em. I mean,, I might post em anyway, otherwise its just gonna sit in my head gathering dust --
Art (c) me (LizzieLass on DeviantArt) Reposting my stuff from DA cause it's dead over there rip.

Thanks for answering. I’m new to art so I didn’t know the difference between base and reference. I was thinking they were the same thing
completely understandable with the information that you are new to art overall(which I did not know until this ask)! if you want to trace and use anything as a base in non-reference or redraw ways the general rule is to NEVER use/post it online: or show other people and claim it as your own art (or not outright state the disclaimer pointing to the origins of the it , as that would imply you did all of it by yourself(which would be a lie)
using your own past works that you made is still all your own and thus very easy to claim as your own art and there's no bad moral of "I stole someone's hours of art and put the finished artwork from all those hours and energy and emotion into an ai and am claiming the end results of the ai version as mine" or "I traced art and am now claiming it as mine" or "I stole art and poorly discolored it as much as changing this custom creature character to have orange eyes instead of pink so now it is my character I am posting everywhere" that you see posted about at times (especially on da and pintrest- though pintrest USUALLY has people who call out every one of these folks)
redrawing and/or referencing something is ENTIRELY okay(and is the MAIN implied purpose of bases as far as we are aware)- however we've seen so many "bases" that are not "your character here (ych for short)" traced and just vaguely drawn over instead of no efforts to learn or make their own tracing is the first thing our mind connects it with as that has been the most common use we've EVER seen them be used for.
tracing various artworks to speed up learning your own art style and what works for you when not tracing is ALSO okay (and we do NOT fault anyone who does this)- the issue is POSTING traced art or claiming said traced art as entirely yours.
We've traced art to mimic a style some of our favorite medias had before because we consumed so much littlest pet shop a lot of us were REALLY bad at figuring out our style ENTIRELY until middle school during our two year long splatoon hyper fixation- didn't have a sense of our art styles until high school still but improvements happen through evolution and knowledge!
I'd recommend since you're new to art just try some simple stuff- the basics as well as some art exorcises- like turning blobs of shapes into characters/creatures you can see the simplified silhouettes of in the color blobs, consume your favorite artist's works long enough and you WILL find a way to draw SOMETHING like their art- not EXACTLY but pretty close with enough time, draw splatters! and yes I mean like the "splat of paint on the ground" or "threw a paintbrush full of paint at a wall"- an old art teacher of ours had us do this just as a "draw before you really draw"
you are new to art at an amazing time to be new to art: there are so so many tutorials (speedpaints are an ENTIRELY different thing in case you are unaware) that give you so much more leeway and opportunity to make things yourself and your own using what they are telling your through the tutorials compared to the "how to draw" books we had to attempt(and failed) to learn to draw various things from.
(also DEEP apologies this is a long and rambly post, we try to make things easy to read but it is VERY HARD without a friend reading this before post to tell us what should be removed- since this all pretty much explains the "artist edict" and the basics of advice without trying possibly sounding like we're enforcing some sort of "there is only one way to do art!!" that some artists have come across doing at times, so we are unlikely to shorten this anytime soon)

Hi!
First off love your art, but do you have any tips on how you learned anatomy/posing. Or how you build up the characters when you draw?
thANK YOU! 💕😭 i hope you’re prepared for the least helpful answer in existence!
I guess HOW I learned anatomy and posing was cuz i took figure drawing in undergrad (and a myriad of other drawing courses) and had those fundamentals drilled into my system via monotony. When you’re in 3-hour long classes like that twice a week for several months and taught to draw human faces and bodies from actual (semi naked) people, you don’t really forget it. That, and the years of repetitive tedium.
Tumblr media
THEN LATER!! I ended up taking a storyboard/character design class, and that expounded further on figure drawing- except solely on characters and how to build on top of that sort of thing. It’s crazy how those two things go mostly hand in hand.)
Also, I read books about this stuff 😭
So if anyone is wondering how im sketching out characters without building the skeleton first if they see speedpaints posted (all 1 of them)— I just got too accustomed to getting the “gist” of a character structure thanks to all of the above. It’s to the point I don’t really think about it anymore. (that isnt to say i DONT build starting with a foundation skeleton, i do when im serious or if the art requires more of a breakdown 🤧🤧)
But, if I’m being honest, I can’t think of anything off the top of my head. The subject is too broad with too many ways of doing things😭 i just? do what i learned i guess.

Ko-Fi Gold!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Soft launching my ko-fi gold page tonight! Two tiers, $1 and $5! both get you any exclusive posts I make, I'll try and do them ~weekly but you know how that is. I hope to put at least speedpaints and comic wips on there. Maybe even my experimental cheap commission slots when I open them. The Iced White Mocha tier gets you also a monthly sketch request, style and medium are artists choice!
No pressure to anyone, I have a day job, but if you like my stuff and want to support my ability to not take on a second day job to afford living in this economy, I would appreciate it!

More Than A Bite
Once and for all, a dragon walks among us, mortals.
A quick sketch became an illustration. I like getting out of my comfort zone with the stuff I make, and this is no different. I don't think I have ever drawn tech this detailed and with colors this saturated. There is room for improvement, but I am still happy with the result. Here's a speedpaint if anyone is interested in the process.
