#I prefer ronance anyway

i love Robin being a lesbian but I sure do hope that Vickie has a long think about what getting involved in this Hawkins gang means because fighting demons from alternate dimensions and watching your friends die is not the usual bonding experience.

I see a lot of people talk about how they wouldn’t be upset if ronance was endgame but they would prefer Nancy to be on her own, and while that’s totally valid, I just wanna quickly shine a light on something.
Nancy does need sometime of her own, so much crazy stuff has happened that she just wants to keep atleast something the same. In this case, that’s Jonathan. She knows it’s probably best they break up, and so does he, but they’re both scared of what that means and afraid to add any more dread to their crazy lives.
So yes, Nancy needs time to reflect and be independent and truly find herself, however people often forget the exact dynamic Robin and Nancy have.
Robin and Nancy don’t rely on eachother, they are both strong, independent, intelligent women. When they paired up throughout season 4, it was always helping eachother, backing, and empowering one another.
There was never dragging the other down once they knew how the other worked and their strengths. They quickly realized working together allows them to join their strengths to become a power duo.
The comparison between jancy and ronance as detective duos is quite clear. Nancy is constantly having to fill Jonathan in or he’s doubting her ideas or plans. Robin is adding to Nancy’s ideas and sometimes a step ahead.
If Robin and Nancy were to be together, it’s not to be the same as her past relationships. Nancy isn’t going to be trapped in an expectation, she’s still going to be independent, learning, and not have to worry about doing what she desires because she thinks it might affect her partner, she’s not going to be doubted in anyway, they will be stronger together. Not hold eachother down.
Nancy needs to be free. But that doesn’t mean she has to be single. It’s seemed that way because she’s felt trapped in her relationships throughout the show, but ronances dynamic is different. That’s what makes them stand out so much.
Robin sets a side of Nancy free, and that was hard for Nancy because she just try’s to make sure that everything is “perfect” but Robin knows it isn’t, and she’s patient to let Nancy open up and share her thoughts and ideas, she wants Nancy to lead her own life, to do things when and how she wants to.
It’s apart of what she liked about Tammy Thompson, “she has dreams!” Is what she had told Steve when he had mocked Tammy’s career choice.
Nancy has dreams too. She’s determined, focused, and dedicated.
While Steve doesn’t appear to be very aware of this given his ideal for their future to be 6 kids and stereotypical life, Jonathan is aware of this, and it’s exactly why he wants to break up.
He said it himself, Nancy would rather give up her dreams to be with Jonathan, than to live them out and he can’t be what she needs to follow those dreams. Nancy is is dedicated to her dreams but also the ones she loves. She puts them above everything else, constantly risking her life to save others.
Nancy’s relationships have trapped her, but a relationship doesn’t have to be a cage, it can be the key to escape one. To break free. From Hawkins, from their fears, from societal expectations.
Ronance being endgame wouldn’t mean Nancy doesn’t get what she would being single, it just means she’d have someone right there helping push her further, supporting her every step to success and happiness.

You're Hot
An anonymously requested enemies (/rivals) to lovers ronance story. This one is also longer than my usual work, but it is quite cliché. I hope you enjoy this one.
Do you have any prompts yourself? Or do you want to dive into what I wrote before? You can read my previous prompts or send me some new ones.
Nancy Wheeler liked school. She was good at school. It was her talent. She got straight A’s since she was in elementary school. She was the best at school. It was all she had.
At least, she had been the best. Until one Robin Buckley. A girl with hippie parents and a too bright smile. She was annoying. She was worse than annoying. She was smarter. Well, maybe not smarter, but better at school. When Nancy got a 97, Robin got a 98. When Nancy got a 98, Robin got a 99. It was frustrating. Nancy hated Robin. Truly, hated her.
They only shared a couple of classes. History, Chemistry, English. Other than that Nancy was able to avoid her. And she did, most of the time. Their circles didn’t really overlap. Except for one person. Nancy’s ex-boyfriend, Steve. He was surprisingly close with Robin. Apparently, they worked together in the video store in town. They were probably fucking. But that was the least of her worries.
“For this task you will be working in duos. Your parents have been assigned alphabetically.”
Nancy repressed a groan. She preferred to work alone. Most of the students were as incompetent as they come.
“Ricky Adams and Lauren White,” the teacher announced, and a horrible realization dawned on her.
“Robin Buckley and Nancy Wheeler.” No, no, no, NO!
She looked over at where Robin sat. Those blue eyes already looking back at her. A soft smile on her face. Robin waved. Nancy turned around.
Mere seconds after the bell rang, Robin appeared next to Nancy’s desk. “I was thinking we could go to the library after class. Wednesdays might be best. Tuesdays and Thursdays, I have band practice and Mondays and Fridays you have the paper. But if you prefer the weekend, that’s fine too. I work on Saturdays, but Sundays I’m usually free. I can make time on Saturdays too if that works best for you.”
“I thought it might be best we work on this separately,” Nancy replied with a tightlipped, all too fake smile. She was about ready to choke Robin. She shouldn’t think that.
“Oh.” Robin’s entire stance changed. Her shoulders slumped. “Yeah, sure. That works too.”
-
Nancy Wheeler was a bitch. It wasn’t that Robin hated her or anything. It was just that… Nancy was a bitch. One with a stick up her ass. Prissy and perfect and terribly mean. Robin didn’t like her.
“I’m not even sure what to do. She just won’t talk to me despite us being paired together. You know her, right? Has she always been such a bitch?”
“Nancy is a bit uptight, but she’ll loosen up. She needs some time to get used to people. That’s all,” Steve said, leaning against the counter.
“She won’t even give me a chance.”
“Do you want me to talk to her?”
“No, please don’t. That would only make things worse. And it’s not like I need her to like me or anything. I just want to do well on this project. I’ll probably be moving before graduation anyway.”
“I don’t know. You’ve been her for over a year now. Maybe this time your parents will stay.”
Robin nodded, but she didn’t believe it. She never stayed. The exact same sob story a bunch of coming-of-age protagonists had. If only she was in one of those movies. Just minus the male love interest, of course.
The only thing that didn’t make her a walking stereotype was her attraction to girls. Girls who looked like Nancy Wheeler. Maybe if Nancy had been just a tad bit nicer, Robin would have a crush on the girl right now. Maybe it was good she was such an asshole.
“And even if your parents want to move, you are nearly 18.”
“And broke.”
“You can live with me.”
Robin smiled at how sincere Steve sounded. He was a surprisingly good friend. The best Robin could ever wish for. Hawkins probably could be worse.
-
Nancy couldn’t do this alone. It was one of the worst realizations she’d ever had. She couldn’t do it alone. She would need Robin’s help. She had reached a new low. She’d already called Steve and begged him for Robin’s number. It would be weird not to call now.
Her eyes were trained on the corner of her notebook where she had scribbled the numbers. They were taunting her. Making her feel inadequate, just like Robin did. She groaned but reached for the phone.
She rolled her shoulders back. “Hi, Robin. I’m sorry for calling so late. I just wanted to ask when you have time to go fuck yourself,” Nancy mumbled to herself.
“Buckley residence, how may I help you?” It didn’t sound like Robin. Her mother maybe.
“Hello, my name is Nancy Wheeler. I’m looking for Robin.”
“Just a moment,” the woman responded. “Robin! For you!”
“If you’re gonna keep calling, my parents will start to think we’re dating,” Robin laughed on the other side of the line.
“I have to say I doubt that.”
“Oh, shit. Nancy? I’m sorry, I thought you were Steve.”
“So, are you saying you aren’t dating Steve?” Nancy asked. She wasn’t sure why she cared.
“We’re not. We’re just friends. Did you think we were dating? Is that why you were— Nevermind.”
“Why I was what?”
“Nothing, why are you calling?”
“It’s about the project. I’ve been working on it and well, I thought maybe we could meet up and discuss it together.” She was ready to hear Robin’s gloating. She could only imagine how awful she’d be if Robin called her like this. God, what was she doing?
“Yeah, sure. When were you thinking?”
“I know, I was the one who— What?”
“I asked when you wanted to meet up? For the project?” Robin sounded confused. Nancy wasn’t sure if it was because of her response or Robin’s own words.
“Oh, yes. What about this Sunday?”
“Alright, where?”
“My place?”
“Okay.”
-
“Your room is very pink,” Robin’s hands were grabbing at Nancy’s stuff.
“I’m sure yours is not.”
“Mine’s white. Boring. I don’t really care for decorating it much. You like Blondie?” She pointed at the Autoamerican poster on the wall.
“Yes, I do,” Nancy replied. She was biting her tongue, literally and figuratively. Why couldn’t they just get the work done so Robin could get the fuck out of here. She’d have to remember to kill Mike for taking the basement.
“And Tom Cruise, huh?”
“Can you please just sit down and work?”
“Ay, ay, captain!” Robin saluted before dropping down on Nancy’s bed next to her.
“Goddamit, Robin! You’re so fucking infuriating.” It slipped out. She just couldn’t help herself.
“Me? I’m sorry to say it, little miss perfect, but you’re the infuriating one. You call me to ask for my help on a project you wanted to do alone and now you can’t even play nice when I show up? That’s just rude.”
“Me? Rude? You are just flaunting. How can you be so fucking arrogant?”
“I’m arrogant? You’re the one who can barely accept help because you’re oh so much better than everyone else.”
“I’m not better than everyone else.”
“I know, but you think you are.”
“I don’t!”
“Really? Because you surely think you are better than me. Where did you get such a superiority complex?”
“You’re unbelievable! You think I have a superiority complex? You’re an asshole.”
“You’re a bitch. I can’t believe Steve ever dated you. Was it just because you’re hot?”
Nancy’s words died in her throat. Robin looked far too smug for someone who had just called her enemy hot. But Nancy could feel her cheeks burning up, so she wasn’t doing much better.
“You think I’m hot?”
“What?” Realization dawned on Robin.
“You said ‘was it just because she’s hot?’ So, does that mean you think I’m hot?”
Robin cleared her throat. “I mean, objectively speaking with the male gaze in our patriarchal society a normal person of the male specimen would probably most likely call you attractive.”
“That barely made sense.”
“I know, I heard it too. What I meant to say was that… Steve thinks you’re hot.”
“Oh, alright. So, the project?”
“The project!”
-
Nancy hated herself. It had been three days since Robin had sort of called her hot. And yet, Nancy had thought of nothing else. She hated Robin, and she knew she hated Robin, but it had still felt special when she had said that. Even if it was in a fit of rage. Maybe that was why she did what she did. Which was walk up to Robin and invite her to her house after school. To finish the project, of course. And hopefully trigger another compliment out of the girl.
It proved to be harder than expected. Because when Nancy wasn’t shouting at her, Robin was polite and quiet and bordering shy, with the occasional ramble on English literature. It was hard to hate her like that.
But if Nancy was to achieve her goal, she would have to dig deep and infuriate Robin. That was how it happened last time.
“You’re such a know it all, with your stupid rambles.” It felt wrong to say that.
“As opposed to you, of course. Little miss I’m so humble.”
“At least I’m not shoving it in people’s faces.” She had to force herself to shout.
“I’m being informative, you just gloat that you know more than other people.”
“Oh, c’mon get more original with your insults, Robin Buckley.”
“What for? You think you’re worth my creativity?”
“Am I not then? Who do you save your creativity for? Steve?”
“I’m not dating Steve.”
“I never said you were.”
“It was implied.”
“It wasn’t,” Nancy shouted. It was. It had been implied even though she knew it wasn’t true. She was just riling her up. It was working too.
“You know damn well it was. I’m not sure what you are trying to achieve with this? You want Steve back? He’s all yours.”
“Sure, because he thinks I’m so hot.”
“You are hot!” Robin shouted back. And there it was. Bullseye.
Nancy wasn’t sure what got into her. Why she didn’t just gloat and have her fun with it. Maybe tease Robin a bit. Why that wasn’t enough? But it wasn’t enough. So, while Robin was still fuming, Nancy leaned in and pressed her lips against Robin’s. It was an impulse decision. Nancy never made impulse decisions. Not until now. Not until Robin.
But now she was kissing this girl. Her lips were soft, softer than any of the guys she had kissed. And she tasted vaguely of cherry. It felt nice. It felt even nicer when Robin’s lips started moving against her own. Softly, slowly, gently. Nancy never wanted to pull away. She liked the feeling of Robin being so close.
It was only a few more moments before Robin pulled back. Flustered and red. She threw her hand over her mouth, eyes wide as she stared at Nancy’s lips.
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to…”
“You didn’t do anything, Rob. It was all me.”
“Why did you?”
“I don’t know.”
“Alright.” Robin nodded her head.
“But…,” Nancy started, unsure of what to say. But Robin’s head perked up at the word.
“Yes?”
“I guess I would like to do it again.”
“You would?”
Nancy nodded. She would. Her tongue darted out, licking the place Robin’s lips had been mere moments ago. She could almost taste the remnants of the kiss.
Robin leaned in. “I guess we could do it again. If that is what you want.”
Nancy quickly connected their lips. She had hated Robin Buckley. Until she hadn’t. Until she started falling in love.

Hello!
This post gives an overview of all my writing. All my fics are below the cut, and you can find my shorter ficlets & drabbles that I only posted on tumblr here :)
Normal things, baby! universe:
‘86, baby! (words: 58k) After they all survive Vecna (death? i don’t know her. and eddie definitely doesn’t either), everyone struggles with getting back to whatever “normal” is supposed to mean and new friendships are forged along the way, possibly even developing into something more eventually.
‘93, baby! (words: 2k) From Wayne’s POV, taking place 7 years after ‘86, baby! and reflecting on some of the moments from that fic, but also readable independently from ‘86, baby!
It’s Christmas, baby! (words: 5.5k) Four Christmas-themed oneshots that give some insight in the future after the events of ‘86, baby!
&Currently working on a Ronance-focused one taking place in the same universe :D
Fruity four fics:
Maybe if I was straight (words: 44k) AU based on the movie But I’m a Cheerleader, in which the fruity four meet each other because they end up in the same gay conversion therapy camp. Also, prepare for MANY supporting characters making appearances. And basically everyone is gay so that’s a bonus I guess.
The time of the year that you really need love (words: 14k) Christmas-themed fake-dating AU in which Steve and Robin, and Nancy and Eddie, pretend to be a couple.
Bee mine? (words: 5k) In which Steve and Robin are beekeepers, Eddie is a baker and Nancy a local journalist. The first chapter is all about Steddie and the second one about Ronance.
Steddie fics (mostly one-shots):
Friends don’t leave (words: 20k) In which Eddie leaves Hawkins, goes off the rails for a bit, and Steve continuously refuses to give up on him. (This was originally a one-shot so you can also only read the 1st chapter (words: 8k) if you prefer shorter fics)
It’s buzzcut season anyway (words: 2k) In which Steve finds out that Eddie’s hair is actually a wig.
The gayest chicken in Hawkins (words: 7k) In which a game of gay chicken between Steve and Eddie gets completely out of hand.
Beyond the yellow sweater (words: 3k) In which Eddie goes absolutely feral when he sees Mr. Harrington beating the shit out of Steve.
Basketball night (words: 1.5k) In which Steve is desperate to get Eddie's uncle to like him, and Eddie is just as desperate to get his uncle to like his boyfriend.
All I needed was the love you gave (words: 3,5k) In which Steve introduces Eddie to his parents.
Roses & Sunshine (words: 8k) In which Steve and Eddie meet at Hawkins’ community center. Eddie is there for guitar lessons, Steve for the daycare center. Misunderstandings ensue.
Not my type (words: 7k) In which Wayne meets Steve at a baseball match and wants to set him up with Eddie. Eddie is very much not into it.
Say you, say me (words: 3k) In which Steve and Eddie don’t quite have the same opinion about what Valentine’s Day is about.
The difference between a poem and a love letter (words: 5k) In which Eddie is a songwriter who likes to read poetry to find inspiration for new songs, and Steve a poet who finds his inspiration in music.
I will love your shadow (words: 3k) In which the bat-attack has left Eddie beyond repair and he has to come to terms with living with a stoma.
I’ll bring you flowers (in the pouring rain) (words: 7k) In which Eddie dates Steve without really believing he changed.
Until you face the rope (words: 5k) In which Eddie faces a trial for the crimes he didn’t commit.
Soul Mate (words: 1k) In which Steve and Eddie ponder what it means to get married and whether or not soulmates exist.
Ronance fics:
I’d kiss you if it wouldn’t kill me (words: 19k; inspired by Pushing Daisies but you don’t need to know anything about the show to read this) In which Nancy possesses the power to bring people back to life with a single touch. When Robin dies at the hands of Vecna, Nancy is there to save her. But there are some repercussions. The most important of them? If they ever touch again, Robin will die – and there will be no way back. After Vecna is defeated and Hawkins seems safe again, the two girls have to navigate what exactly this means for the bond they share.
Chamomile Christmas (words: 3k) In which Robin meets Nancy in a coffee shop on Christmas Eve.
The perfect girl for you (words: 9k) In which Wayne sets up Robin with Nancy, but things aren’t going as smoothly as Robin had hoped.
And suddenly we’re Thelma and Louise (words: 9k) In which Robin and Nancy make a roadtrip from Boston to Mexico, guided by a list of things Nancy feels like she missed out on during her college years.
The art of kissing a girl (That’s what friends are for, right?) (words: 4k) In which Nancy helps Robin prepare for a date with Vickie by giving her some kissing lessons.
Others:
I owe you nothing, I owe you my life (WIP) In which Eddie finds out that Karen Wheeler is his mother.
My life in the lines of your hand (words: 17k) In which the soft romance of my most beloved rarepair Wayne Munson and Scott Clarke gets explored through a series of defining moments for them.

the biggest reason I don't rlly like romantic ronance is because I don't really ship nancy with anyone - I am a firm believer in Single Nancy Supremacy! I think that the two romantic relationships we see her have (with steve and with jonathan) both struggled because of her grief in relation to barb - its much clearer with her relationship to steve as it literally breaks down as a result of her grief and guilt and that idea of faking happiness, and I think that may also be the case with her relationship with jonathan as well, and we know that she's been questioning things about the relationship and hiding that she feels unfulfilled, though in her eyes she feels like she wants steve, but i think she just remembers how easy things were with steve before all the upside-downy stuff and wants to go back to how things were back then. I feel as though she struggles in those relationships because the type of companionship she is searching for is the easy, comfortable, platonic love and closeness she had with barb back then, and its clearly a huge part of her character arc, since losing barb is what caused her to become actively involved in all the upside-downy stuff and piqued her interest in journalism through her work with murray (alongside her clear desire for solving mysteries and the like). what nancy needs right now isn't a romantic relationship, but a platonic female friendship, a connection that is not fueled by anything sexual at all - hence my stance as a Platonic ronance truther!! we already see the closeness and trust the two of them have with each other as they scheme to break in to see victor creel and as they work together later on, and I think that kind of platonic connection between two women will be wonderful for the both of them, and robin as well deserves a platonic friendship that isn't just with the guy people keep thinking she's in love with. I really hope the show does take it that way, especially since platonic relationships have played such a key role throughout the show (the party's dedication to each other (excluding byler and their romantic love for each other but thats a whole other thing), dustin's relationships with steve and eddie, platonic stobin ofc, jonathan and argyles friendship (this one is so important to me as well as robin and nancy because of how dedicated they are to each other), and especially the friendship between el and max (I could write a whole nother essay about that tbh)) and I think it would be a wonderful ending for both robin and nancy to find that friendship with each other!!
This is completely fair and valid, plus a good analysis. For me personally, I prefer Ronance to single Nancy. Firstly because I just like their dynamic being 80s sapphic enemies/rivals to lovers. Secondly, I think Robin dating an established character is easier writing wise cause the show adds too many people and has less time to flesh out Vickie because of it. However, I also like it because of Nancy's character arc.
I think her character is very male centric and the writers seem to abandon her life goals to push her into the box of being Steve's suburban wife or in other words, her canon worst nightmare. Despite being the badass feminist character, she feels so focused around men and Steve and it's really odd to me. Especially how weirdly confrontational she was to Robin because she assumed she was dating Steve. They broke up two years ago and Nancy never even loved him, it's so odd.
Anyways to circle back to my point, I like the idea of Nancy's ending not being her settling down with Steve. I'm very anti-St4ncy if you can't tell. I'm less opposed to Jonathan and Nancy but even then, she's still at risk of falling into her nightmare with him. I think this is part of the reason why single Nancy is good and canon wise, I think that's her best outcome.
However, Nancy says right from the start that she wants to truly rebel. She dates Steve as an act of rebellion but because she's rebelling in the way everyone else does, it's ultimately a way for her to safely fit in and tell herself she's doing something radical as Jonathan points out. She hides her true feelings because whilst she knows she won't be satisfied by the life she's heading towards, she's scared to do anything otherwise.
I think 80s badass sapphic feminist Nancy dating a woman would both act as her embracing her true feelings and rebelling away from the trap of being a suburban housewife that her mother fell into. Single Nancy can work for that too, but I think having Nancy canonically like girls would perfectly fit into her framework of actually truly rebelling against expectations instead of seeking safety in a boy she tried to force herself to love.
I think these two opinions can coexist but that's just why I think romantic Ronance is great for Nancy. I do agree that platonic relationships would be good for her, but I also think that this relationship romantically would work with her character arc too. Thanks for the ask!

Buckle up Ronance (and general spicy six) fans i wrote this when i was super tired but we got a Superman AU laid out right in front of us ft:
Robin Buckley as the clumsy and rambling reporter starting her new job at the Daily Planet, using her wits, language skills and eager curiosity to scope out a fresh take on Metropolis' pristine coat of futurism hiding its own dark underbelly of corruption and political warfare; not to mention the fact that she is the Superwoman (i usually prefer finding alternatives to using "man" or "woman" in the superhero genre but I can't really think of an alternate to something as basic as Superman so here we are), capable of flight, lazer vision and rescuing pretty woman without so much as a stutter
Nancy Wheeler as the Planet's greatest reporter, her determination and scrutiny all she needs to crack any story wide open, making her quite the target for the rich and famous but she doesn't appreciate this rookie coming in to steal her front-page headline spot; now Superwoman, on the other hand, is the most intriguing person she's ever wanted to investigate right on Metropolis soil
Nancy visits Gotham on occasion to meet her ex-partner and current good friend, Steve "Stevie" Harrington, to catch up during any of his various charity balls or just to give Mike an excuse to hang with Dustin (Steve's first ward, followed by Max, with Lucas and Erica dropping by often enough people don't really think too hard about it)
She does have her suspicions about The Bat running around the shadows of Gotham with Steve's tendency for concussion-inducing accidents but the idea of Steve of all people as a vigilante just feels too far fetched even for her
Of course, Robin does eventually meet Stevie during a story she's chasing on The Bat but the guy is just so airheaded and shameless that she doesn't want to even bother trying to get statement out of him. When she meets The Bat as Superwoman however, they hit it off so well that Robin thinks she may have found a best friend for life. When they eventually reveal their identities, she has to take a minute to reconcile that her platonic soulmate is Stevie Harrington of all people
Jonathan is Nancy's photographer a la Jimmy Olsen, and the dude is just so exhausted all the time from Nancy's running around but he's done a better job keeping up with her than her old partner Fred Benson so Chief insists that they stick together. After Robin showed up, he figured things would be easier with someone else to help wrangle Nancy but Robin just encourages the chaos with her own ambitious methods so he ends up bonding with Stevie of all people over Nancy's head-first running into danger, thank god for Superwoman's timing on that
I also think it'd be funny if Argyle was just a random pizza guy from Gotham who got caught up in a major crime syndicate's grasp and he just...ends up staying at the Harrington Manor after that and nobody in the family even questions it and now he mans the Batcomputer under codename Oracle ("Dustin, you can't just keep giving everything a codename" - "Fucking watch me")
Jargyle meeting at a Harrington charity ball and have a whole doki doki strangers to lovers because they 100% deserve a meet-cute in this AU
Anyways back to Ronance, Nancy falling in love with the snarky and witty Superwoman that always comes when Nancy needs her and Robin panicking because she's realised that she's head over heels for Wheeler and can't do a single thing about it meanwhile Steve teases her about the Wheeler Effect:
"The what?"
"The Wheeler Effect: I used to be in love with Nancy, she and Jonathan used to date, hell even Dustin crushed on her at some point -"
"STEVE YOU PROMISED NOT TO TELL ANYONE -"
I guess Eddie could be The Freak (like the Creeper from the animated series, but less Joker venom and more clothes) in a Catwoman role? Giving Steve a run for his money (sometimes literally) while secretly mentoring the Robins, much to the Bat's annoyance

I see you do Ronance fanfiction? I’m low key obsessed with sick fics and I haven’t been able to find a lot for Ronance. Do you know of any/would you want to maybe write one? I prefer one-shots, fluffy, and please have it be like any sickness besides covid. If you can’t, that’s perfectly okay but I thought I’d ask.
ok it's been freaking forever and im very sorry for the delay but here it is i hope you like it! (feel free to request fics in my asks if you want but keep in mind it will most likely take me a few weeks to finish)
read on AO3
Robin Buckley did not have the flu. Anyone who said otherwise was lying. Robin Buckley did not have the flu because she needed to keep going to work and she needed to keep going to school. She was so close to graduation and maybe, finally, getting the hell out of Hawkins if she could save up enough money.
“Robin.”
“Yeah?” Robin’s voice was muffled by her stuffy nose.
“Go. Home,” Steve told her, for probably the millionth time.
“I can’t.”
“You look like you’re about to drop dead.”
“Aw thanks for noticing, Harrington,” Robin replied, voice dripping with sarcasm.
Steve did his classic I’m-not-your-dad-but-I’m-about-to-act-like-it-because-it’s-my-love-language pose. Head tilted, hands on hips, eyebrows raised, legs shoulder width apart. Robin liked it better than his I’m-Steve-Harrington-and-all-the-ladies-want-me pose, but not by much.
“Robin, you need to go home.”
“First of all,” Robin said, jumping off her usual perch on the counter and then groaning and clutching her head because that hurt, “you,” she pointed at Steve, “are not my mother or my boss. I don’t have to do what you say. Second of all, I need the money.”
Steve considered her for a second. A worrying light entered his eyes, as if he’s just had a really good idea. Robin braced herself. Then, “Okay.” And he turned back to the pile of returns he was sorting.
That… was suspiciously easy. But Robin’s brain was too foggy to figure out why. “I’m taking my fifteen,” she said, heading for the back room.
Steve waved a hand, “If you’re not back in twenty, I’m going to assume you died back there and I am not going to be the one to find your body.”
Robin bit back an insult involving the words “dick” and “wad” and the vivid image of her wailing her heart out over finding Steve’s dead body, should he happen to go before her. Which was incredibly likely.
The couch in the break room was lumpy and covered in stains that should be studied by the goddamn government, but once Robin got Steve’s extra sweater from the cubby and laid it down to cover the petri dish that was the couch cushions, it was actually pretty comfortable.
She slowly drifted off to sleep, the cadence of Steve’s voice talking to their first customer of the day lulling her like a lullaby.
Hours or days or seconds later, Robin blinked awake to a hand on her shoulder.
“Robin,” a soft voice said, and Robin’s eyes tried to focus on the source. There was a bright light and a shadow in front of it, creating a halo around the person’s head.
“Oh my god. Steve was right. I’m dead.”
The voice laughed, “You’re not dead, babe. Not yet, anyway.”
Robin knew that laugh. Knew it because she chased after it every single day. Because every joke that passed her lips was for the sole purpose of hearing it, of seeing the radiant smile that came with it.
“Can you repeat that part where you said I was right? I want to get it on tape,” said a voice that was unmistakably Steve’s. Robin ignored him.
“Nancy?” Robin squinted as her eyes adjusted to the light, revealing two brunettes staring down at her, one with concern and one with a smug smirk that begged to be punched.
“Yeah, hon. Now c’mon, let’s get you home,” Nancy helped her sit up and Robin’s eyes finally decided to work and she could see Nancy’s face somewhat clearly. Gorgeous brown curls, impossibly wide eyes filled with worry. That had Robin sitting up faster than she probably should have. The room spun but Robin ignored it.
“What’s going on? What’s wrong?”
“What’s wrong is that you have the flu. And since you refused to go home when I told you to, I had to call in the cavalry,” Steve crossed his arms over his chest.
“The cavalry…” Robin repeated, “Meaning Nancy?”
“Yep.”
“Okay, I just woke up so help me out here. Why did you call Nancy?”
“Because you listen to her. And you don’t listen to me,” Steve said, “And you need to go home and rest so I called Nancy to come pick you up and make sure you do.”
“Uh-huh…” It might be time to admit she was sick. Her brain was impossibly foggy. A cool hand pressed to her forehead.
“Jeez, Robin, you’re burning up,” Nancy said, leaning closer to peer into Robin’s eyes, which refused to focus on her.
“Ugh, stop that. You’re making me dizzy. My eyes won’t focus.”
“But you’re fine, right?” Steve said smugly.
“Okay, okay. I might be just a little bit… sick.”
Steve raised his hands victoriously. Robin would have rolled her eyes but she wasn’t sure she could do so without passing out.
“I can’t leave, though. You’ll be alone out there.”
“Robin. Three people have come through that door today and they are all standing in this room. I’ll be fine,” Steve replied, reaching out and squeezing her shoulder, “Seriously. Go home and rest. I’ll bring you some soup later.”
Nancy and Steve helped Robin up and then Nancy walked her to the door like an extremely awkward three legged race, considering Robin had a full head of height on her and was not doing a very good job of holding her own weight.
“I’m holding you to that soup promise, Harrington!” Robin called over her shoulder as Nancy attempted to open the door and get them both through.
Robin stumbled over the curb and nearly sent them both tumbling onto the cracked pavement. She squinted at the ground, “Someone needs to re-pave this.”
“I’ll alert the mayor,” Nancy said, leaving Robin leaning against the car as she unlocked the passenger door. “Alright, in you go.”
She put a hand on the top of Robin’s head as Robin ducked into the car, “Aren’t you supposed to tell me my rights?”
“What?” Nancy said, baffled. Then, an eye roll. “You are not being arrested, Rob.”
“Well, you should arrest me.”
“Is that so?” Nancy asked, shoving Robin’s legs inside so she could close the door.
“Yeah, because I’ve captured your heart.”
Nancy groaned and Robin laughed, then closed her eyes and leaned back against the chair because laughing hurt and thinking hurt and everything hurt.
“Glad to see your dumbass sense of humor is still intact,” Nancy said, pretending to be annoyed but Robin opened her eyes just in time to catch the adorable blush that bloomed on Nancy’s cheeks as she shut the door.
Nancy drove as smoothly and safely as she always did. As in, not at all. Looking at her, you’d think Nancy was the safest teenage driver in Hawkins. But looking at her you’d never know that Nancy Wheeler keeps guns in her shoeboxes and hunts interdimensional monsters and drives like it’s the Indy 500 (300?). Robin herself had fallen into that trap, and she feels endlessly lucky to be one of the few who get to know the real Nancy. Except for her driving, which made Robin fear for her life.
Nancy takes Robin to the Wheelers’ place and Robin’s desire to lay down overpowers her hesitation and she lets Nancy haul her out of the car and into the house.
“Nancy?” Karen called from the kitchen as they came in, “Is that you?”
“Yeah, mom, it’s me,” Nancy called back and, under her breath, “Who else would it be?”
Robin grinned. She always enjoyed her girlfriend’s snarky remarks when they were aimed at someone else. The trek up the stairs is one of great difficulty, involving many tangled limbs and bumps against the walls.
“Nancy, what the hell are you doing?” Mike demanded, coming out of his room down the hall.
“Hey, lil’ Wheeler,” Robin greeted.
“Robin,” Mike looked her up and down, “You look awful.”
“Why thank you.”
“Go back in your room, asshole,” Nancy said, scowling, coming to Robin’s defense even against Mike’s very true comment.
They finally made it through the door and into Nancy’s incredibly pink bedroom. At first sight, Robin had thought Nancy’s room was pink because duh, the princess of priss would have a pink room. Then, after getting to know Nancy, she thought maybe it was something her mom forced her into. One day she finally just outright asked: “Why is your room pink?”
Nancy had looked up from her book, “Because I like pink.”
Over the months, first as friends and then as more, Robin had spent a lot of time in Nancy’s bedroom. Snoop that she was, she had touched nearly every trinket and item Nancy had, sometimes asking Nancy where they came from or why she had them. Seeing someone’s bedroom was Robin’s favorite way to get to know someone and Nancy was her favorite person to get to know.
Nancy deposited Robin on her bed and bent down to untie Robin’s converse. Robin stared at the ceiling, which was beginning to spin in a truly nauseating way. She groaned and closed her eyes.
“You okay, babe?” Nancy asked, slipping Robin’s second shoe off.
“Spinning,” Robin mumbled, “Everything’s spinning.”
“Okay, sit up, c’mon,” Nancy grabbed Robin’s wrists and pulled her back into a sitting position. Nancy shucked off her Family Video vest, folded it neatly, and placed it on her desk chair, a stark contrast from the way Robin tossed it on her floor after every shift.
Finally, Nancy tucked Robin into her bed and Robin immediately relaxed into the mattress, snuggled under the comforter and resting her head on a pillow that smelled like Nancy. And she promptly fell asleep.
Nancy let herself watch for a moment. Reminded herself that she was Robin’s girlfriend now, that watching her girlfriend sleep when she’s sick is not weird. She’s allowed to do these kinds of things now. Robin lets her do these kinds of things. Robin likes when she does these things. She looked absolutely adorable asleep in Nancy’s bed, her face squished against the pillow and the comforter pulled up to her chin. She leaned forward and placed her hand against Robin’s forehead. She was burning up. Nancy wished she had managed to get a fever reducer in her before she fell asleep.
Nancy set the half finished glass of water on her nightstand next to two Advil pills. She fished a post it note out of her desk drawer and wrote Robin a note: downstairs, making you soup. Don’t move. And take the medicine. - N
Maybe it was some sort of placebo effect, but chicken noodle soup always made Nancy feel better when she was sick. Who didn’t feel better after some warm soup? Besides, this was Nancy’s thing. Chicken noodle soup, simple as it was, was the one thing Karen had never mastered. Nancy was always the one who made soup for her younger siblings when they got sick. As much as she tried to fight it, her nuclear family upbringing had drilled into her that cooking was how a woman showed her love. Or maybe just generally taking care of people. Nancy had spent many many hours psychoanalyzing this tendency in herself, but eventually she concluded that she just liked taking care of people and left it at that.
And Robin was her favorite person to take care of. It was so easy to make her happy. She would beam at her if Nancy so much as tied her shoelace. Every little thing was big to her and Nancy loved it. She finally felt appreciated. But that was a psychoanalysis for another day.
She was just adding the noodles to the simmering pot when she heard footsteps on the stairs. She turned, expecting her mom or her brother, but only saw Robin.
“Robin!” She rushed over to help her girlfriend sit at the counter, “Didn’t you read the note? I told you to stay in bed.”
“Yes, I did. And then I immediately decided to disobey it.”
Nancy tried to look at her disappointedly, but she knew Robin could see the twist of her lips hiding a smile.
“Did you at least take the medicine?”
“Yes, ma’am,” Robin offered a two finger salute, reminiscent of an old haunted house, a grandfather clock, a brick through a glass window.
Nancy ladled the soup into a bowl and set it down in front of Robin, “Let it cool down for a second.”
Robin put down the spoon that was already halfway to her mouth. Nancy smirked, turning to lean back against the sink.
“Aren’t you going to have any?”
Nancy shook her head, “I made it for you.”
Robin frowned, “You should eat. Taking care of me is hard work, you know. I’m a handful.” Sick as hell and still worrying about Nancy.
Nancy smiled and filled a second bowl, “Oh, I know.”
They sat at the counter and sipped at their soup silently, both mutually looking over to make sure the other was eating. They took care of each other like that, Nancy supposed. When they were done Nancy placed their bowls in the sink and stepped behind Robin, wrapping her arms around Robin and resting her chin on her shoulder.
“Wanna go back to bed?”
Robin shook her head.
“You should get some sleep,” Nancy murmured.
“And you shouldn’t be this close to me,” Robin countered, “I’m gonna get you sick.”
Nancy shrugged, “Don’t care. Cuddles are the best treatment for the flu, you know.”
Robin leaned back into her, “Oh, is that right?”
Nancy tucked her head into Robin’s shoulder, breathing in the honey sweet smell of her hair, “Mm hmm.”
“Well, I’ve heard the best treatment is having a movie marathon.”
Nancy pulled back to squint at her, assessing. Robin turned to look at her.
“How about one movie, and then bed?”
Robin pretended to consider, “You drive a hard bargain, but I accept.”
They made their way into the living room and Robin flopped unceremoniously onto the couch. Nancy tucked a blanket around her before crossing the room to slide a tape into the VHS player, not needing to ask what Robin wanted to watch. The Princess Bride flashed across the screen in light blue and Robin clapped, as delighted as ever for the movie she had seen a thousand times. Nancy climbed over Robin and tucked herself between the back of the couch and her girlfriend, wrapping one arm around her like a seatbelt and stroking her hair with the other hand. Robin hummed contentedly.
She fell asleep sometime between the shrieking eels and the cliffs of insanity, entirely missing her favorite moment (when the boat smacked against the rocks and bounced, clearly showing it was fake) and Nancy’s (the classic ‘as you wish!’ falling down the hill scene). After that she drifted in and out, dreaming of ROUSes and the Dread Pirate Roberts, feeling entirely secure with Nancy’s arm around her.
When she woke up, it was dusk outside and Nancy was no longer behind her. She blinked awake blearily. The living room was softly illuminated by a single lamp and Nancy was sitting on the ground, back against the couch, surrounded by a circle of papers and photographs, working on a piece she refused to let Robin read until it was perfect.
“Morning, sleepy head,” she said, affectionately, without turning around.
“Mmph,” Robin responded.
Nancy reached a hand up and Robin leaned forward without thinking, making her forehead more accessible. Nancy pressed a hand against it and nodded.
“You feel a little cooler. How are you doing?”
Robin took a moment to assess. The room was certainly less spinny and her head wasn’t throbbing anymore. “A bit better, I think.”
“Good,” Nancy said, standing, “We should probably get you home.”
“Noooo!” Robin moaned dramatically, throwing a hand over her forehead like a damsel in distress.
Nancy laughed, “Yes. You’ll sleep better in your own bed.”
Robin reached up and took both of Nancy’s hands in hers. She stuck her bottom lip out and gave Nancy that look she could never refuse, “Pwease? Can I stay with you? Just for tonight?”
Nancy pressed her lips together, but something in her eyes told Robin she had already won. “Fine. But just for tonight.”
Robin beamed.
“Dinner and then bed,” Nancy said.
“What? C’mon, Nance, it’s only like five o’clock.”
Nancy put on her I’m-in-charge-look that seriously rivaled Steve’s, “Alright, I’ll just get my keys then.” She pretended to look around, patting her pockets.
“Okay, okay!” Robin gave in, “Dinner and bed sounds perfect.”
Dinner consisted of Mrs. Wheeler’s fantastic lasagna, followed by Nancy ushering her upstairs for bed. Robin brushed her teeth with the green toothbrush she left at the Wheelers’ and then changed into the sweats and tee Nancy had found in the drawer she had designated for Robin (which had been the cutest thing, Nancy blushing pink as she presented the empty drawer for Robin to keep some clothes in). Nancy made her drink more water and take more medicine and then tucked her into bed on Nancy’s usual side, with the better pillow.
“Will you stay?” Robin asked, “You can keep the light on and read or whatever, if you want.”
Nancy smiled, “Of course.”
She left her lamp on, turning out the rest of the lights. Then she leaned over and kissed Robin’s temple, “Get some sleep, love.”
Robin hummed in response, eyes falling closed, “Read to me?”
“Sure, baby.”
“Love you.”
“I love you, too,” And then she began to read, “ ‘It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife…’”

Hi! I'm a 21f looking for 18+ partners (preferably closer to my age) to roleplay Stranger Things!
I'm most comfortable with Steddie, Ronance, or Buckingham, and I typically rp Eddie, but I'd love to rp as Robin for Ronance or Buckingham. I also would be really interested in trying Steve. When rping NSFW i am more comfortable writing a bottom in most dynamics, (dom, sub, omegaverse, vanilla, kink, whatever), but i also can write vers (subbing from the top, stuff like that). Tbf I'm a near-sexless loser irl so...
Anyway, would love to try supernatural stuff, omegaverse, royal, au or canon. I'm so so so not picky and open to trying most things! Would love a plot that has some drama and action, something that can keep me hooked!
Length isn’t something I am concerned about! I believe in quality > quantity, and will try to match you, but anything over 4 sentences is up my alley. I won’t discriminate based on how much you write, esp if its rapid fire back-to-back (which i love) and the plot is good!
I roleplay on Discord and my rp/eddie shitpost account is @kingofthebats, my main is @skjachukson (I write fics too!), so either interact here and I'll reach out to you or reach out to me on any of those accounts. Thank you!!!

If you’ve been following along, I’ve lost my interest in ronance and I’ve been trying to find posts on fanon vickie. Ideas for what she might be like. Fan characterizations. But mostly I’ve just seen complaints that she’s ‘just the same character as Robin’ and I’m like, Oh yeah, clearly discernible from the 3 scenes she’s in (note the sarcasm).
And like, yes, she is just a plot device and that’s awful from a writing standpoint, but you know who else was just a plot device? Season 1 Steve. Shouldn’t her lack of concrete characterization make you want to know more about her?
Anyway, I hope the Duffers include her in the plot in season 5 instead of fully shelving her like they did with Kali when they saw the negative feedback. They’ve been susceptible to trying to shove aside their writing mistakes in lieu of trying to please their audience in the past
I hope that they try to flesh out Vickie instead of fan servicing ronance. While I just admitted to not being a fan of ronance, this isn’t even just about my shipping preferences; it’s about the duffers committing

I sent that ask about the Ronance/Steddie parallels in good faith bc I actually ship both. But now met with such incredible hostility on the topic, I'm curious. Why would you prefer heaps of character deaths over a Steddie endgame? What about it is so off-putting that you'd rather see good characters die? It can't be just the fact that it's an mlm ship, or at least I hope that's not your reasoning. So what about it angers you so?
(you might call me a bitch for answering truthfully, but I'm just going to be real. And you might call me a bitch for preferring a full on all character death than st*ddie but yea, maybe so what. Some things just need to be fanon. I can be cool with st*ddie shippers as I am actually cool with some of them. But you're on anon trying to put me on trial because I don't ship them? Like get over it... truthfully. )
Anyway, you shipping both does not mean I ship both, so using the reasoning of "in good faith" is subjective. (And this got long winded...so sorry I guess?)
As a ronance blogger and enjoyer who is tired of st*ddie infiltrating our tags and little nooks of fandom, what you think is in good faith was actually not.(I didn't receive it well so you play it off like it was in good faith-also is the eneregy that is being given).
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say you're new here to my blog and that's fine. That's okay.
But the ruse of it being in good faith reads almost satirical...if only. I'm talking about and was talking about Ronance in my posts so why would you bring up st*ddie anyways to me unprovoked?
I do not ship both I do not have to ship both.(also trying to pull the reverse card on the *just because it's mlm* is not a thing. Mlm media and ships are received so well, and when yall find someone who doesn't like or care for a ship yall expect a whole analysis and thesis why. Well no its not simply because it's mlm-but if it was why couldn't it be? Genuinely? Why do people expect sapphic women to consume mlm content that doesn't relate to them or tell their story but don't put the same energy for gay men?)
it's because st*ddie has been shoveled down my throat too much. Infiltrated every part of st fandom because people don't know how to tag things, don't know how to separate keep it within its own bubble.
Not all, but alot of the fandom are women hating; specifically Nancy and Chrissy hating. And if you believe fandom doesn't influence the way you view media/ships/or anything in general that would be deluded to say. Fan base definitely has a hand in how people receive things at a certain point.
Also as much as I hate this statement it's true here, i saw absolutely nothing between St*ve and E*die interactions beyond two people on forced proximity interacting. So no its not simply because it's mlm. It's because the pair did nothing for me. And didn't give me an *oh* moment.
You shipping both doesn't make you mightier then me just like me shipping only ronance doesn't make me better than you. I'm not sitting here asking you why you ship st*ddie so why must people who only ship Ronance always qualify themselves??

obsessed with everyone on that post like "not true! there's never more than one woman in the media!" 1. that's literally the type of excuse the post is trying to shut down. 2. that's. still misogyny. like that's misogyny on the creator's end but it's still misogyny. 3. have you tried maybe reading something other than shonen manga and watching something other than a marvel movie, because idk your choice of media could be part of it. like it's actually INSANE to me that you can be on tumblr where shows like spop and the owl house and atla are popular and think there's truly NO MEDIA with good characters. like those aren't the only examples of course it's more than just kids cartoons but. seeing as these people probably don't watch anything without an established tumblr fandom
REAL Also the adamant denial on that post that there’s any piece of media with well written female characters??????
Ppl are also discussing how it’s bc “most ppl in fandoms are attracted to men” like. have u never seen a lesbian in a fandom space.
There’s also been several examples listed of fandoms with shows that have majority female characters and STILL the mlm ship is more popular so that debunks most of the arguments anyways
it’s literally not possible to apply all the excuses ppl are coming up with to every single piece of media??? And more often than not now when female characters are poorly done the male characters are too bc the writing is and all around, or even if it’s just the female characters that’s once again: a different only semi related issue (still misogyny too tho like u said) and not applicable to every show or movie ever??
And once again STRANGER THINGS, which is a very popular well known live action PG-13 TV show has relatively well written female characters (there are some issues but the women in the show are written with care and complexity which is way more than a lot of shows can say, it’s the fandom that tries to take the complexity away) with chemistry yet the most popular ship is steddie, and even byler, another mlm ship, is not as popular as the mlm ship between two dudes that had like 3 interactions, much less ronance in which the two characters in the ship had a whole arc together and one is canonically a lesbian.
And the way ronance and elmax were both voted out on that poll before jopper bc everyone was so quick to sacrifice them.. like Ik it’s Reddit but still this is a FANDOM SPACE I know you guys aren’t choosing a straight ship over sapphics 🤨🤨 the only scenario where I actually prefer a straight ship to a sapphic one is lumax over elmax and that is a rare, rare occurrence
Anyways, rambled, but ur so right and the fact that this is literally a phenomenon in almost every single fandom but ppl are still trying to excuse it for anything other than what it is like come ON.
Oh and fyi this is the post I’m talking abt if anyone is seeing this and extremely confused

Lightning in a bottle
— pairings: robin buckley x nancy wheeler; johnathan byers x nancy wheeler (mentioned)
— a.n.: i loved writing this!! i thought about giving them a bad ending but my sapphic ass want ronance to be the happy, i owned them that! hope you like it as well, someone wanted to get tagged on this but i couldn't tag them, sorry :(
— warnings: bit of angst on this one, but there's comfort too!, a very confused nancy, this is part two for this
It's been weeks since Nancy last heard about Robin. It's starting to grow on her, the words she said that night. How she didn't think them through until she had already spoken. What if she have lost the girl forever? The idea haunted her mind.
Steve claimed he didn't know where she was. She hadn't told him. The words were true, much to Nancy's concern. If Steve didn't know, something must have been truly wrong.
The thought, the one Nancy has been trying to push away all day, keeps invading her mind in spite of her best efforts. Maybe, just maybe, Robin hated her for the way she reacted. It wouldn't be her fault, anyway, Nancy said to herself. She could have said more, could've at least have a proper reaction. She owned her that.
So, Nancy found herself on Robin's door. He joints found the hardwood of the door, the sound of her knock echoing through the entire neighborhood. And then, there was silence.
Maybe it was better this way. Nancy didn't know what she would've said if Robin had opened that door. She thought about it, of course she had, but nothing ever seen good enough. Truth is, Nancy thought Robin deserved the sweetest of words, and she just couldn't find them for her.
But that didn't mean she hadn't tried. She wrote down every thought, crafting elaborated speaches on the dim light of her own room. She wanted - no, she needed - Robin to know. But she couldn't find the right words, and sheet after sheet, they all end up on a pile on her trash can.
"Robin," They all started. Some of them had the word "dear" written before it as well, quickly scribbled out. A letter wouldn't be good enough. No, if she was to do it, she was going to do it right. Not the easy way out, not some cowardice that would be waiting for Robin at her nightstand once she came home. It could've been too late at that time anyway.
"I really thought a lot about what you said to me." She continued. "And, well, we both know I'm with Johnathan, and I love him, with my whole heart." She scribbled that out too. Did she, really? She couldn't tell. Not after that night. Not after the way Robin looked at her.
"What I am trying - what I wanted - to say, is that, I don't want to hurt your feelings, but it would be a lie if I said I feel the same for you." At that point, she felt the first tear run down her cheek. She thought she knew what to say. She thought it was so clear, until she had actually wrote the words. Nancy didn't have much things taken for granted anymore, not even her own feelings.
"But, Robin, it doesn't matter how things turn out between us, I'll always want to be your friend. But, if you prefer not to, if you want to forget I was once in your life... I suppose I can understand that too." She was lying, of course she was, but what else was she suppose to do? If Robin wanted to go, if she really did, Nancy would let her. She just prayed she wouldn't.
What Nancy didn't write was that she wanted to know what a life by Robin's side would feel like. If it would bring up the same warm, fuzzy feelings inside her chest that being friends with her did. If her touch would still run like electricity under Nancy's skin. If their hugs would still feel so much like home to Nancy. No, she didn't write down any of that on the many, many discourses she spent the night writing. She couldn't mention it. Not like that. It was cruel, to give Robin such foolish hope when she knew, deep down, that her choice was not certain.
Finally, sitting down on Robin's porch with her hands on her head, she understood. Maybe she had known all that time, what her heart wanted. But she was so deep in thought that she barely heard when the brunette arrived. There was no car pulling in, because Nancy knew Robin couldn't drive. No bycicle either. Just a very soft sound of footsteps on the back of her mind. And then, a pair of greyish eyes staring at her, confused. And she knew.
"Nance?" Her touch on the Wheeler's shoulder felt exactly like she imagined it. It was like she was struck by a lightning, but instead of burning, Robin's touch soothed her.
"Hey..." Nancy felt relieved. She smiled to the girl standing in front of her. "I wanted to talk to you, about..."
"It's okay. You don't have to-"
"No. I don't. But I want to." Nancy cut her off. "You've been in my mind for days, for weeks, since that night. And... I think- No, I know, I love you too, Robin Buckley, with all my heart. And I am sorry it took me this long to go after you. Should've done it before, but- I guess you can say you scared me off. A little bit."
Robin shook her head. Was that real? Had she imagined it all? But there she was, standing in front of a smiling Nancy with heart eyes. She loved her too. Nancy Wheeler loved her. She felt like she could burst out at any moment, her hands shaking, still on Nancy's shoulder. Her face hurt when she smiled, the corners of her mouth stretched as tears came out of her eyes. God, wasn't she the luckiest girl in the world? Nancy Wheeler loved her too.

14. That one thing I see in fic... Firstly, Robin saying dingus all the time. I read a lot of Ronance and sometimes it feels like every piece of dialogue by Robin is like "hello dingus, you're looking very dingus today. How dingus are you on a scale from 1-10?" and I am not a fan. I think it can be good in minimal usage and only with Steve. And secondly, in Byler fics I see a lot of Byler getting Murray'd and it can be good but I kind of hate when he's really harsh about it like he was to Jopper and Jancy because I feel like it's a different sitch and it also risks outing them so generally I prefer it when he Murrays them separately.
13. Worst blorboification is easily B*lly for me. Trigger warning for racism and abuse from here on out. I'm censoring so it doesn't appear on search, partially to be nice but also because the last time I said this I got called a bigot...against B*lly stans? Please don't send me asks, I get finding the writing interesting or finding Dacre hot but you can analyse his character without excusing racism and abuse.
Anyways, with all that out of the way, I hate how people have turned him into some babygirl who's just a bit sad and forgetting the whole racism and abuse of it all. I think people massively miss the point of his character by excusing his actions because in my opinion, he was clearly meant to represent the cycle of abuse and how he'd become what he was scared of.
The end wasn't a redemption, it was him realising that he's become what he's scared of and trying to end the cycle once and for all, hence the whole vision with El beforehand. Not a redemption, not an excuse, just an explanation. You can have abusive parents and not abuse. You can have racist parents and not violently attack a black child because he hung out with your white sister. Not a babygirl or a misunderstood boy, he's an abusive bigot who was so horrible his child sister prayed for him to die and felt relieved when he did.
Thanks for the ask (in reference to this post)
