I still have not actually quilted my scrap quilt but I spread out the backing fabric to see if I have to piece it together* and look at this!!! I saw it and started cackling. It’s magnificently loud and clash-y and every color at once and I love it so much
*I don’t but I do need to iron it

As an aside, I've discovered that reusable food wraps are A Thing and I can very easily make my own if I just bought beeswax 👀

Wally Dion, born 1976, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Fabric Star Quilts.
Wally (Walter) Dion is a Canadian artist of Saulteaux ancestry living and working in Upstate New York. Working in a number of media including painting, drawing and sculpture.
Wally explains:
"The first fabric star quilt was made as part of a 2022 residency at Wanuskewin Park. It was my way of reflecting upon prairie tall grass and the reintroduction of bison into the Great Plaines. I wanted to make several transparent quilts and superimpose them; one in front another... a quilt for the microbiome, another for the bison, their manure & hooves, another for the summer fires that scorch the ground and a final quilt for the sweetgrass braid.
I was considering how all of these things worked together for thousands of years to create what is known as the 'prairie tall grass ecosystem'. A vast and fertile expanse of land stretching from the foothills of Alberta to the banks of the Mississippi. I wanted to highlight the invisibility of systems when everything is working well, as it should be.
I started with the green quilt because it is the colour of the sweet grass braid that is exchanged in ceremony and relationship building. I considered the nature and tradition of quilting; impoverished craftspeople using tiny scraps of fabric. I considered the act of offering fabric and adherence to tradition. I thought of a thousand tiny prayers and how that might look; invisible acts of respect and adherence to protocols spanning decades. My thoughts travelled across the land, imagining the trees and rocks collecting these prayers like a bush of cloth, or an etched boulders."

I made some cute sunflower pillows out of scrap fabrics I had been saving from the dump. I couldn't find the right buttons so I made some out of polymer clay I had in my stash 🌻
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's some instructions if you also want to make some 😊
Tumblr media
I still need to draw up a sized petal template but I've also made a youtube video (my first one, it's horrible 😂) if you are more of a visual learner.
youtube
1. Cut 1 brown corduroy circle 1 wool batting circle and 2 green 2/3 circles (for the back)
2. Cut 12 pairs of petals (24 pieces total)
3. Sew petal pieces right sides together 1cm away from edges. Turn right sides out and top stitch along the edge. Stitch centre petal seam. Repeat for all petals
4. Quilt your brown centre to the wool. I made lines about 1.5cm apart making a grid.
5 Pin 6 of your petals centre first evenly spaced around the edge. Pin the last 6 over the gaps. Sew 1 cm from the edge
6 Roll hem the straight edge of the 2/3 circle pieces (a rol hem to folding and then folding again)
7 make 3 button holes evenly spaced on one back piece
8 secure the pieces to eachother both having right sides up, creating a pocket
9 fold on your petals and pin your back piece right sides together to your flower front. Sew 1.5cm around the edge and turn out through the pocket.
10 stuff your pillow then add buttons to fit the holes you made earlier. I do the buttons last to make sure they fit nicely when fully puffed.
11 yayyyy pillow!

From all four corners of the world comes my love 4 you
(A/N): This has been written with the inspiration @foreveralbon brought me. I love you and your incredibly mind, honey
Summary: Lando's girlfriend is a seamstress working at a tailor shop. She is repairing his clothes, he is cutting holes into his sleeves. Together, they release the cutest merch
Pairing: Lando x fem!reader
Warnings: None, this is so fluffy, I'm crying myself to sleep. I need a Lando like this
Wordcount: 2.9k
🏎Masterlist🏎 __________________________
(Y/N) thinks she is about to go crazy. Manic even.
Over and over again she patches up holes in her boyfriend’s long sleeves.
And over and over again new holes appear. It’s like this is her Sysiphus task. Just repairing Lando’s clothes day in and day out.
Don’t get her wrong. (Y/N) does this for three different reasons.
The first being that she is a seamstress, working in a tailor shop. This craft is how she pays her rent and food.
The second reason is that she really can’t have her boyfriend go out looking like he just got picked up at the side of the road begging for a warm meal and shelter.
The third reason may be less obvious than the previous ones. Acts of services is (Y/N)’s love language. She is not particularly good at letting people around her know of the appreciation she holds for them. Verbally at least. It’s not the way she grew up. She learned that actions speak louder than words can. So patching up her boyfriend’s clothes gives the young woman the opportunity to prove how much she loves him. She just hopes that Lando understands the meaning as it is intended.
Little does (Y/N) know, Lando really appreciates her patching up holes. What he isn’t a big fan of is when she repairs those that are intentional. The ones in his long sleeves are put there on purpose.
While (Y/N) is meticulously sewing, Lando goes snip snip in the other room with a pair of scissors. He just loves having sleeve paws, but it’s annoying when his thumbs are jailed in.
“Lando, have you seen my scis- What are you doing there?!” He turns around, looking at his girlfriend like a child being caught with their hands in the cookie jar. “Freeing my thumbs?” He tries to explain in a small voice, scared that she is about to go off on him for ruining his clothes.
(Y/N) sits down next to him on the ground. “If you have told me you want thumb holes, I could have done it for you. I would hem them for you, so they won’t fry. If you want me to, can I take some of your shirts to the shop tomorrow and work on them during slow times?” The way Lando’s eyes light up makes her wish for a camera to keep the memory of it.
(Y/N) not only fixes the holes in his sleeves.
“Love, would you put another patch on my jeans?” Lando saunters into her little crafting room. When she moved into his apartment in Monaco, he insisted on transforming a guest room into her own sewing cave. It was only fair. He got his gaming room as his hobby room, so his girlfriend needs her own territory too.
The room is filled with different sewing machines, one wall is decorated with threads of all kinds, colors and thicknesses. Several shelves are overflowing with different fabrics of any kind imaginable. Every shade, pattern or reflection that any crafter would kill for. Lando really spoils her and happily let’s (Y/N) run loose in a craft store, draining his credit card to her heart's fullest content.
(Y/N) would feel bad, if it wasn’t for the big difference in salaries they sport. Also, it is Lando’s way of treating his girl. Instead of flowers or a bag he buys her a new Bernina B 325, which is not something she is exactly complaining about. They share most of their expenses, but still, working at a tailor shop will never make you a millionaire.
Currently working on her own project of making a quilt out of scrap fabric for Max’s upcoming birthday, (Y/N) barely looks up to her boyfriend. “Yes, of course, sunshine. Just put it over there and I’ll have a look at it in a bit. Do you have any preference for the new patch? I ordered city themed ones a few days back and they arrived today.”
Without having to be pointed into the direction, the Brit already goes through the drawer that is solely dedicated to the patches (Y/N) accumulated during the last few years.
If he is being honest, that kind of work of hers is his favorite. Lando is just amazed by the different shapes, colors and themes her collection entails and how her delicate efforts bring a new individual mark to his favorite pair of jeans.
“I think I want to go with this one,” he mumbles after sifting through the drawer. Lando places a small rose next to the currently used sewing machine for her to not have to search for it in the midst of the chaos that is going on on the several desks in this hobby room.
He actually loves spending some down time here, especially when his girlfriend is working on her own projects. Lando hides under one of the desks, sometimes scrabbling away on pieces of paper for the next helmet sketch, sometimes answering some important emails on his laptop and other times he lies down between different piles of fabric and takes a nap. Having (Y/N) hack away with the machine, occasionally cursing under her breath when she pinches herself sewing something by hand or the music playing on a low volume brings Lando great comfort.
Spending quality time this way is secretly Lando’s happy place that he visits mentally during stressful patches when he is away.
A couple days later the door to the tailor shop (Y/N) works at rings the bell, alerting her of a new customer. “I’ll be with you in a second!” She calls from an adjoining room, cleaning up her work space from the trims that have been left by the jeans she just shortened.
“How can I hel- LANDO!” The young woman exclaims, rounding the register to jump into his arms. “I thought you’ll return from Australia tomorrow”, she murmurs into his shirt. The thumbs are, of course, able to escape through the holes she recently cut and hemmed like promised.
He laughs into her hair. “I wanted to surprise you and pick you up from work like the good boyfriend I am. I also got you something from ‘Straya.” Out of thin air (his back pocket actually) Lando procures a small stack of Australia themed patches.
“Oh, honey, they are perfect. Thank you so so much!” She kisses him all over the face until finally putting her lips onto his. “Just let me close the shop and we can go home and enjoy our evening.” Lando presses another kiss onto her lips, “Hurry up, I can’t wait holding you in my arms again.”
While (Y/N) packs her things up, Lando goes through a stack of different fabrics. One in particular catches his eye.
“Hey love, where did you get this heart patterned fabric? What do you have planned with that?” (Y/N) pops her head in to see what her boyfriend is pointing to. “Oh, that one. The owner was negotiating a deal with a new supplier and wanted to check out the quality. We wanted to see if this one is durable enough to make shirts out of it.”
An idea is forming in Lando’s app, that he quickly puts down in the notes app on his phone.
She emerges from the side room with her back and something else. “Would you try this on for me?” (Y/N) asks innocently, handing Lando a jean jacket. It is a bit oversized on him, just the way he likes.
“It’s pretty nice. What do you need me to model this fo- This is one of the patches I just gave you!” Lando admires the kangaroo that looks like it’s taking a jump on the sleeve. “I thought this would be a fun little project for the season. After every race I’ll put a patch from that country on the jacket. I can also stitch some additions onto it as well for when you get a podium or win or are voted as driver of the day and so on. Just, I thought this could be something cute.” (Y/N)’s face heats up the more she talks about her idea.
Lando pulls her into his arms, squishing his girlfriend as close as possible to his body. “Thank you, you don’t know how much I appreciate the work and thought you put and are putting into this.”
Like the proud trophy boyfriend he is, Lando loves modeling whatever his girlfriend sewed, patched up or created and pimped up in some other way while entering the paddock. Just as he predicted mentally, the fans are going crazy about his jacket online as he wears it on Wednesday for media day.
“I see, (Y/N) loved the patches you bought her. At least dragging me through every craft store in Melbourne that I know of has paid off for you”, Oscar remarks dryly as he watches Lando hanging up the jacket in the hospitality.
“Yeah mate, she sewed it on immediately. It’s her newest project, putting on a patch for every country we race in during this season after the race. She also wants to add a bunch of things for special occasions during the races.” Lando explains fondly the thought process behind the jacket.
As he is leaving the paddock later that day and signing several cards, caps and other merch, some fans ask him where he got the jacket from. “Oh, that old thing? I’ll gatekeep this one. Good luck on finding the store.” He answers a young woman while putting a bracelet she handed him on his wrist.
He hasn’t gone public with his girlfriend yet. The people know that he is in a relationship with Lando having started an already several months long soft launch, that includes their socked feet during movie nights and her backside in beautiful sunset scenes. So nobody knows what she does for work and the two of them want to keep the little bubble of secrecy they have so far going for a bit longer. Out of the public eyes without the pressure of fans and media.
It felt like a scavenger hunt going online and seeing fans and other media outlets trying to find Lando’s particular jean jacket. For the two of them it becomes their evening entertainment, reading up how everyone and their mother are losing their minds from not being able to detect where it is from.
“The chat is asking about that dumb cloth again. Just tell them where you got it.” Max groans, even his own chat during the stream isn’t safe from the assault. Lando, who chills on his bed while waiting for a message from his girlfriend about her being done with work, just smiles. “Come one, please lift the secret. I can’t even roll my eyes often enough times, that is how annoyed I am by this whole thing.”
The Brit loves the suspension around the subject, but gets up and saunters over to the monitors. “Ok Chat, I will only say it once and never again. Get your pens and papers out and write it down. So, this jean jacket with the patches is a designer piece. You can’t get it anywhere else, it was custom made and no, the designer doesn’t want to go into mass production with that one. But I am cooking something up. Just be patient, I feel like I will be able to make a deal for you. I just need to work my magic, but that takes time. My name is not Tinkerbell.”
His little sass tirade is broken up by the ping of his phone, making Lando scramble for it to see his love’s text. “Chat, do you see how down bad that man is for his girlfriend?” Max ridicules Lando, giving him payback for all the teasing against himself.
While the chat is going insane, with the certainty that this moment has been clipped and will be used for edits by the fans, Lando just smiles at his phone, shooting a quick reply of picking her up. After that he packs his stuff and throws a quick goodbye to Max and the stream, onto the way to the tailor shop.
There she stands, his love in all her glory in front of the closed store. “Didn’t I tell you to wait in the building for me? It’s dangerous to be out alone, especially for such a beautiful person like you!” Lando scolds her lightly when he reaches her, taking her bag from her shoulder, throwing it onto his own back.
But (Y/N) presses a kiss to his lips, trying to soothe him. “It’s all ok. When I saw the headlights of your car, I stepped out and closed the shop behind me. I knew that my Tinkerbell was close by in case I needed saving.”
Lando wants to reciprocate the kiss, but stops mid air when he processes her words. “You watched the stream?” That shocks him a bit, because (Y/N) usually keeps out of this part of his life. It’s not really her world, streaming and gaming. So that’s one of the hobbies they don’t share, being the healthy couple, without a horrible codependency, they are.
“No, a friend sent me that clip a few minutes earlier”, she snickers, “Were you talking about me? About wanting to work a deal out?” Lando throws his arm around her shoulders, leading the young woman into the direction of where he parked his car. “I did. Originally I planned on woohing you by a nice candle light dinner and after that I wanted to ask you if you were open with making a few designs for LN4. The fans are going crazy over the pants and jacket. You also have the eye for the details that I love on clothes. It would make me so happy to hold something in my hands that we both worked on, to know that people in the whole world will wear it.”
(Y/N) looks up at her boyfriend, watching his side profile while he is rambling about the meaning of a collab between the two of them. How he can’t stop smiling over the excitement of the prospect of their merch line together, the way his eyes light up, his free hand gesturing while explaining a few ideas he has saved on his phone. She can’t help but press another kiss onto his cheek, effectively quieting him down.
“I will make that collab with you happen. I already have a few things drawn out in a notebook, I was just too scared to show you the sketches, not wanting to intrude or impose myself onto your business.”
Instead of saying anything, he just picks her up and throws them in a circle. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!” He repeats over and over, both laughing about his childish antics.
A couple of months, several trial and errors as well as creative differences later, they stand in a studio, overseeing the photoshooting with the new collection.
“Wouldn’t this be the perfect way to launch our relationship to the public? With your face visible in the pictures?” Lando muses out loud while looking over a rack with hoodies. (Y/N) throws him a shocked look. “I mean, we can take a couple of pictures together with a few articles and also take a few of you individually too. The world needs to know the mastermind of these designs. You need to take credit for all the hard work you have done.” He explains, taking her hand and gesturing to the set up with the other.
She lets the idea rummage a bit in her head. It would be the perfect way to go public, especially since this is the first time her designs are commercially sold. (Y/N) breaks out into a smile, nodding rapidly. Lando can’t help but also smile, getting infected by his girlfriend’s happiness.
Weeks after that the new merch drop gets released to social media. The press and fans are eating up the couple's pictures, finally having a face to the woman, who is able to fluster Lando through text messages alone.
The clothes itself also get the best feedback.
A variety of the jean jacket and patched pants are now available for fans to buy, being able to kind of replicate Lando’s paddock look, coupled with a heart patterned hoodie from the collection.
But nothing gets close to the original with the many hand sewn details on Lando’s jacket, even when fans try to imitate them. A nice side effect is seeing other people picking up the craft of hand sewing and stitching.
Many people swoon over the long sleeves with cut out thumb holes. They especially love the heart shape of the holes.
It’s a perfect detail to the name of the new line.
‘From all four corners of the world comes my love 4 you’ is printed in one way or another on every piece.
Because no matter the distance between Lando and (Y/N), they can feel the love for each other over any distance.

Commission Menu!
I've removed the "Pay What You Want" commission option, though you can pay more than my asking price on any of the commissions. The commission menu itself has been increased though! I had originally intended to open commissions in September, but emergencies happened, forcing me to open them early.
On the menu are:
A set of four quilted magnets or decorative pins.
A set of four coasters, with several options for more coasters as well as insulated batting to make them into hot pads/pot holders.
A single mug rug, with insulated batting as an option. For my shop, I use insulated batting for the mug rugs. For commissioned pieces, it's two layers of cotton batting or an extra $5 for insulated batting.
Due to popular demand, a single serving dining set. This is for a single placemat and matching coaster.
A four piece placemat set. If you would like me to make more placemats for a set, please contact me about this.
A single mini quilt. These range from 18x18 inches to 25x25 inches. They're excellent wall and table decorations!
A single table runner. I'm rather fond of these because of how flexible they are with regards to use. How so? Hang them on a wall, drape over the back of a couch, lay across a car seat, use it on an altar or shrine, etc.
A pine tree wallhanging. These are an excellent alternative to a Yuletide tree. They're hung on a wall and you can decorate it with your favorite pins or buttons. If you would like some decorative pins, I can make those (see the first item on this list). No trees will be cut down, cats won't be climbing up it nor break ornaments, it takes just a couple minutes to set up or take down. Storage is also very easy! Oh, and it can be made with a wide range of colors.
A rag quilt. I have different size options available! These are made using a quilt-as-you-go technique and are very quickly made. Oh, and they're EXTREMELY warm! My house gets very chilly in winter, and the rag quilt I've made for myself works like magic.
Just the quilt top. This is available in several sizes, the largest being twin. This is for just the quilt top. You will need to purchase backing, batting, and either do the quilting yourself or hire someone else. You will also receive all fabric scraps left after the sewing is done.
Please read over the details and don't be afraid to ask questions. If you're a monthly supporter, you will automatically receive a 15% discount, but you have the option to pay more than my asking price should you decide you don't want to use the discount.
Please reblog! It's the only way other people will see this post. Liking this is only a bookmark for you. Remember, Tumblr is a blogging site with social features; it's not a social media site. You are, however, welcome to share this post on any social media site you use.
Remember: commissioning me, purchasing anything from my shop, or donating to my goal will earn you an entry into winning a free quilt when said goal is reached.
Commissions close November 1st.
After November 1st, I'll be focusing on making a stack of quick and easy quilt tops to practice free motion quilting. Those quilts will be sold at a steep discount. Once I'm comfortable with FMQ, I'll be making larger quilts again, and these will be listed in the shop.
At some point, I'll take a break. Financially speaking, that's not really an option unless we pay off the last vet bill and the water heater installation. If those goals are met, then yes, I'll take a long overdue and well-earned break.
If you're willing to give me full artistic license and the only input you give is choosing the size range from the commission menu, use GOHOGWILD for a 15% discount. Please know there's a 90% chance it will be a Halloween quilt. Halloween is my favorite month, and celebrating it with quilts is always a pleasure. You are not required to use the coupon code, and there's the option to pay more than my asking price. I just really want to make some Halloween quilts.
Here are samples of my work, some of which you can purchase from my shop here.

I've mentioned quilting before but wanted to show my special piece that I'm working on.
Just a reminder that even if you feel like a pile of scraps just tossed aside, you are still enough to be absolutely beautiful
Tumblr media
This quilt was made of nothing but discarded scraps from different people and projects. Halloween, Christmas, summer, sparkle, space, floral, older and newer fabrics all.
A purple bandana from my friend, a green leaf pattern curtain that the matching piece had been lost in a fire from my cousins grandmother, floral from my sewing group and even Pokémon and Jack skellington from my own projects.
If I can create something with random pieces like this then you can make yourself into something new too <> <3 <>

Progress Pride Flag Quilt Block Pattern & Tutorial
Tumblr media
Don't you just love the flag of our people? Do you have an inner grandma that years to make stuff? Do you want to combine these two things and make a queer quilt?
Well, I've got you.
Tumblr media
Behold the pattern! And my lack of graphic skills, so I drew it on paper!
Basically it's a bunch of rectangles, one half square triangle and a fuzzy cut circle. I don't know shit about quilting and I was able to come up with it. Why centimeter, you ask? Because I'm German and that's what I'm familiar with. Why weird measurements and not jelly rolls and layer cakes and stuff? Because I'm German and quilting is not really a thing here.
Onto the tutorial!
You'll need:
A scrap of fabric of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, brown, light blue, pink, white each
additional fabric for the border
Cutting mat, quilting ruler, roll cutter
sewing machine
thread
pins
double sided interfacing
iron and ironing board
fabric sheers
compasses
Tumblr media
Step 1: Cut everything. Duh. We'll take care of the circle later, don't worry about that now. The half square triangle is exactly what it sounds like. A square and then you cut it diagonally. That's why I didn't give the length of the hypotenuse.
(Note: I'm making two blocks at the same time, that's why there's so much fabric. Also this is a middle of the night project, hence the lighting.)
I'm using all kinds of different fabrics, different weights and drapes, some stretchy, some transparent, so I needed to interface some of them.
Tumblr media
Step 2: Sew the rainbow together. 0,5cm seam allowance on everything, that's exactly the edge of the foot on your machine. Double and triple check that everything is facing the right direction before sewing. The seam of yellow and green does not get sewn fully, only 21,5 cm! That's important later! Also backtack there. Don't forget to iron.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Step 3: Sew the strips to the half square triangle. For this you have to switch between the sewing machine and the ironing board constantly. Attach the shorter strip diretly to one side of the HST, iron it open. The second strip of the same colour gets attatched to the other side of the HST and the first strip. Look at the pictures closely if you're unsure how that works. Also the strips are longer than the triangle. We'll square that up later.
Tumblr media
All strips attatched will look like this. See how the two strips meet at the tip!
Tumblr media
Step 4: Cut the rainbow part to size. The length between yellow and green is 22cm long. The shorter seam from before plus some seam allowance. The outsides of red and purple are 44,5cm long. These two points are the beginning and end of your cutting line. You will cut a little triangle from every single colour. Do this slowly and carefully. Maybe your fabrics have stretched a bit (mine did). Don't worry, it will be ok.
Tumblr media
Step 5: The Y seam, part one. Y seams are tricky, but there's only one for this block. So put your strips part on your rainbow part and line them up so that the tip of the strip part overhangs the seam between yellow and green by about half a centimeter. Remember that it's not about the edges of the fabric, but where the seam will be. But don't sew all the way! Leave 0,5cm at the tip!
You can also mark on your strip piece two lines 0,5cm from the edges of the black. They should form a little square at the tip. There they meet is where the actual tip on the finished block will be. So place this spot directly on the seem between yellow and green and only sew right up to it. Not beyond.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Step 6: The Y seam, part two. Now, fold both the rainbow part and the strips part in half and if you've done the last step correctly, the remaining two edges will allign. Pin and sew.
I can't explain it better than I've done here, I'm sure there are tutorias out there. Good luck!
Tumblr media
Step 7: Square up. Iron your block to that everything is nice and straight and flat. Then use the fabric edges of the red and purple to cut the remaining ends of the strips. Use the HST to cut the white. Be careful, the long side of the triangle is on the bias and likely stretched a bit.
I already added borders here. I'm making a pillow case.
Tumblr media
Step 8: Fuzzy cut and raw edge applique. Double sided iron on interfacing is essentially double sided tape. It has two types of glue, one gets activated by 2 seconds of heat, the other by 5 or so (depends on the product). The second side is also covered with a paper that needs to be removed before the second gluing. Read the instructions of the product you are using!
Use your compasses to draw a circle on the protective paper side of the interfacing. It's actually two circles from the same middle point, see pattern. Cut it out roughly. Then place it with the rougher side on the backside of your purple fabric and iron for 2 seconds on middle heat. If you've just ironed your fabric before and the ironing board is still hot, wait for it to cool down. Also let the fabric cool down after applying. Then cut out your circle. The interfacing will have stiffened the fabric, so that shouldn't be a problem. Then remove the protective paper, place the circle on the yellow triangle where you want it and iron for 5 seconds. Let cool.
And you're done! The applique at this point is only secured with the interfacing, but it should hold fairly well. The quilting will secure it further.
And that's it. BTW, did you know that this design was made by Valentino Vecchietti for Intersex Equality Rights UK in 2021? Now you do. Happy quilting!

So, this is love?
A/N: I kept daydreaming of Dad! Hobie and then writing but scrapping all of the works I’d written so hopefully I actually post this one. (Based off of my DR)
Summary: It’s cold out and you and hobie are the parents of twin girls.
Tags: Fluff, fluff, LOTS OF FLUFF !! Dad! Hobie, parent ! Reader. It’s all very domestic and cute. Reader is African American and has Gullah Geechee origins (iykyk). Super short bc I’m in the middle of a writers block
Day bled into night. This evening, you sat and rested with your baby girls while Hobie cleaned and cooked for the four of you. It’s fall and all you wanted to do was stay in with your family.
Cuddled up under a quilt you’d made yourself. The protective colors of blue white and yellow adorning you and your babies, excess fabric laid against the couch waiting for Hobie to slide underneath.
The moment was so surreal. As if it all just hit you at once that you were a parent. A parent of two children! Every time you looked at your babies you saw yourself and traces of Hobie. One had your eyes and Hobie’s nose, the other had Hobie’s eyes and your nose.
“Dessert’s hot.” Hobie smiled from the kitchen making you look up from your sleepy infants. He wiped his wet hands on a towel and picked up two large plates.
“Shit’s heavy!” You watched and tried to hold in your laugh as he carefully made his way to the living room and set the plates on the table in front of the couch. Finally, he sat down gracing a loving kiss to your lips and your babies heads.
“Twitches?” Beaming as you picked up the remote. It was one of your favorite movies to watch during your teen years, Hobie would watch it with you all the time when fall first started. But now it’s a day or two after Halloween. “I think we should watch The Grinch” Hobie challenged with a raised eyebrow and a smirk that made you laugh. “And who got the remote?”
Smacking his teeth and turning to the infant that sat laughing at him in his lap making all 3 of you start to laugh.
You’re halfway into the movie now, the other twin woke up and your babies were polishing off y’alls food. Your head laid comfortably on Hobie’s shoulder and your twins sat between you both. Hobie’s arm stretched over your shoulder, hugging you and your girls close to him.
While Hobie was actually watching the movie you gazed at him lovingly,
“So this is love?”
————————————————————-
Idk what this is and it’s really bad but I had to write something or else the daydreams wouldn’t stop 💔
Will probably write a better version of this after the Bridgerton AU starts

I’m still going to get started on the cuttlefish this weekend, but my scrap fabric is getting ridiculous again so it’s scrap management time!
I meant to try a square-in-square block but I cut the first pieces wrong so now I’m doing a simpler patchwork lol

Hii! If it's okay, may I request some fluff with the Huntress? Maybe her comforting the reader during a thunderstorm or the two of them baking together, I don't mind the specifics. Just some Huntress fluff to take me out of the dumps.
If not that's totally okay! Hope you have a wonderful day/night!
Another Anna request! Also, this was the last request that’s been sitting in my inbox for such a long time! 🥳 Now I can get started on all the recent requests! Whenever that will be… 👀
The Huntress/Anna
One stormy night in the Entity’s realm, Anna finds you huddled in a corner, visibly shaken by the thunder. Without a word, she wraps you in the warmth of one of her homemade fleece blankets. The blanket becomes a shield against the storm, both literally and figuratively. The soft fur lining and the scent of pine offer a sense of security as Anna holds you close.
Anna hums a gentle tune, a lullaby from her homeland, as the thunder rumbles outside. The melody, combined with the rhythmic tapping of the rain, lulls you into a peaceful embrace. In the intermittent flashes of lightning, Anna’s usually stern face softens. Her eyes, briefly illuminated, reveal a depth of understanding and care, assuring you that you’re not alone.
Without uttering a word, Anna whispers comforting assurances in your ear, her deep voice a soothing contrast to the turmoil outside. A reminder, even in the darkest moments, she is there for you. The steady thump of Anna’s heart acts as a grounding force. You find peace in the fact that, amidst the chaos, there is a heartbeat – a connection to something real.
Once you are calm enough, Anna will bring you into the kitchen and pull out a collection of ingredients from her cabinets. Then Anna dons a makeshift apron from a torn piece of fabric, ready to do some baking. She just hopes that baking will make you happy and occupied as it makes her. She just wants you to get your mind off the storm.
Anna watches as you fumble with the ingredients, amusement glinting in her eye. You struggle as you mismatched ingredients, trying to make a delicious treat from scratch without any instructions.
Anna, surprisingly knowledgeable in the culinary arts, whispers secret tips from her homeland as you mix ingredients. Once you are satisfied with your mixture, you pour it in a pan to slide it into Anna’s makeshift oven, fueled by the Entity’s dark energy, that bakes your creation to perfection. The sweet aroma of your treat fills the air, momentarily masking the oppressive scent of the fog.
As you wait for your dessert to bake, Anna presents a small, chipped teacup from her personal collection of salvaged items. She pours you and her a cup of tea. While sipping tea together, you find comfort in each other's presence and the sound of the oven ticking to almost completion.
Anna rummages through her collection, finding a tatter quilt she fashioned from collected scraps. As you wrap yourself in its warmth, you notice the remnants of her past – pieces that tell a silent story of battles fought and hardships endured.
The baking session extends into the night, it only by the flickering of candles around. In the soft glow, Anna shares rare glimpses of her life before the Entity. As the storm subsides, Anna offers a rare smile, a promise that even in the darkest moments, there is a tomorrow.

When I took up quilting this year, late enough into the spring that it was practically already summer, I didn’t fully realize the magic that comes along with a quilt.
Really, I was just looking for something to do with my hands and my practically-new sewing machine I’d been gifted the October before. All I did was just start fabric into triangles and sewing them together with no plan. I just... learned the steps as I needed to.
I decided early on that it was a gift for my partner’s birthday at the end of the summer, but even then I barely finished it on time. I am the type of person who is eternally cold, with at least four to six blankets on my bed at any given time. He only has one, and it felt fitting to use a part of myself to make something that could always keep him warm.
Quilting is simultaneously so deceptively simple and incredibly hard. I love it because, if I want to, all I have to do is sew straight lines. But then comes the fabric, the cutting, the piecing, the batting, the basting, the quilting, the dreaded binding. It’s a massive, complicated, beautiful commitment of love and labor and time.
My first quilt this year was for my partner. His face lit up when he opened his present, and when he passed it along for his family to see, his cousin didn’t even want to let it go. He sleeps with it every night.
My second quilt was for his nephew as an impromptu birthday gift, I finished that in two weeks. His parents tell me it’s a permanent fixture on his bed.
My third was to my roommate, obnoxiously (delightfully) orange with glow-in-the-dark skeletons along the back. She tells me crawling under it immediately improves her day.
My fourth is yet to be gifted, but my fifth is one for me. A rainbow scrap quilt, made with parts of all the other fabrics that came before, and lots of other scraps along the way. I’m sitting with it now, and it comforts me while I sit and type.
I didn’t expect my loved ones to become so attached to their gifts, in the same way I didn’t expect to become so attached to my own. There’s something so special about a handmade quilt, though. When you look at it, you can see the time and effort it took to put together every piece. The stitching isn’t always perfect, but it is always those parts that make me smile. A quilt is something that keeps these people warm on the coldest nights, and holds them in times of great sadness and great joy. It is there for them when I am not.
When I see my quilts, I am reminded that there is love in everything I do, and it is a great joy to be able to share it.

That Jamil fic with the ladybug was hilarious!
Now I wanna see Jamil with a reader who's great at making, well, anything. Leave her in the kitchen? She's already made a whole feast. Give her some fabric and a sewing machine? Boom! She's made a snake plushie. Leave her in a workshop? She's made a music box.
Jamil's heart is probably overflowing with love
A/N: EVERYONE HERE LOVES JAMIL SO MUCH AND IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY!! He's such a complex character with so much lore!!! Jamil needs to be cared for <<33
Jamil thought he would have gotten used to this by now- waking up to warm breakfasts sitting on his bedside table, combing back to the dorm after practice to a warm quilt made out of scrap fabric found in Ramshackle, a homemade phone case when Floyd broke his during practice?
They'd even gone through the trouble of handcrafting him a small music box that plays a small lullaby similar to a song he'd mentioned in passing; a lullaby from his homeland that his mother would sing to him at night. The small box had sprung tears to his eyes when he'd unwrapped it and allowed the sweet melody to drift into the night air. He still listens to it often, winding it up and listening to the notes when he's had a long day or feels homesick. It also serves as a constant reminder of the love that he received from his partner day in and day out- love that exceeded the puppy love that he was told he would feel. Jamil felt as though the word love alone couldn't describe what swelled his heart every time he looked at one of the gifts- it was adoration, yes; Respect for them and their skills, absolutely; awe at their crafty nature... he couldn't seem to settle on just one word.
He couldn't help but feel a little uncomfortable at the affection at first- he was so used to being given gifts with the intention of delivering them to Kalim, so used to having to hand off items that he desperately wanted to keep to himself. He couldn't help but smile at the familiar swell in his heart when he discovered a snake plush that had somehow found its way into his backpack when he set it down during lunch, looking around the room for his Love only to catch their passing glance as they shot him a wink and a smile.
He sat down in his seat, his hoodie suddenly feeling too tight and way too warm against his skin as he slipped it back into his bag, feeling suddenly possessive over the item. A part of him wanted to set it up on the table to show to everyone what he got, that he had someone who loved him so deeply that they took time out of their life to make him something solely because they wanted to.
At the same time, he wanted to keep it all to himself, like a little secret shared between lovers and hidden from the world's prying eyes. He also didn't want to risk Kalim's incessant questioning once he surely saw the plushie. He continued to eat lunch, as usual, only looking up occasionally to see if his partner had left. Once he's seen them raise from their seat and bid their friends farewell, he stood suddenly, making the white-haired boy across from him jolt as his head shot up.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing," Jamil mumbled, grabbing his things and turning to the heir. "The prefect texted me and asked if I could help them with something."
Kalim smiles and the sight of it nearly makes Jamil freeze- the boy had been nothing but supportive of his relationship, even going so far as to pay for them when Jamil brought up the idea of taking them back to see his home. Yet, his knowing grin arose some sort of conflicting emotions within him- once more, greed and possessiveness rising above all. Deep within, however, seeping through the cracks, thrived the feeling of acceptance, of giddiness at the idea of Kalim knowing that the prefect was his and his alone, as well as the possibilities that opened knowing that Kalim was accepting of their relationship.
He rid his head of the thoughts and quickly hurried off, approaching the prefect once they split from the group and pulling them into a quiet stairway, the two of them hidden behind a beam.
"You're tricky," He looks at them, a small smile forming on his face.
"Did you like it?" Jamil could hear more and more people start flooding into the hall, and he lamented the limited time they were able to spend together. He pressed a chaste kiss to their lips, glad to be hidden by the shadow.
"I do like it," Another kiss, this time on their forehead. "Thank you."
"What are you gonna name it?"
"Hm? I didn't think about that," He admits quietly, wrapping his arms around their waist and trying to prolong the moment, knowing that this will be the only few moments they would be able to spend together until they're both pulled in separate directions. If they were lucky they would have time at the end of the day to unwind at either dorm (which ended up being Scarabia). All too often would Jamil have to ignore that familiar tug of 'not yet' as it pulls at his heartstrings.
"You should name it! Something like..." They hum for a moment. "Snake themed?" He chuckles.
"Any ideas?" He pulls away from them once the hallway becomes too crowded for their liking, already longing for their warmth.
They nod and open their mouth to say something else, their hand snaking into Jamil's and intertwining their fingers together as they try to find some semblance of the affection that was between them just moments before.
"Pre~fect!" Ace's voice rings through the hallway, making Jamil sigh and frown as he looks over his shoulder to see if he could spot the boy. "Grim got stuck in the vents again!"
"What?!" He winces at the sudden loudness of the voice as they sigh, eyebrows knitted on their forehead in exasperation. "How?"
"His ass is stuck!" Ace's voice breaks into rowdy laughter towards the end. His lover sighs and rests their head against his chest once more.
"Duty calls, Love," He snickers as he presses a kiss to the crown of their head. "Better get him out before classes start." That earns him a glare from them as they tug playfully at his hoodie strings before leaving. He watches them warmly as they leave, still hidden in the shadow of the pillar. He can feel the plushie pressing through the fabric of his backpack against the space between his shoulder blades.
As he walks back to the dorm, he can't help but feel overwhelmingly loved, a pressure that presses hard down on his chest until it steals his breath from his lungs the more he thinks about it. He silently promised to return the favor one day- hoping to express his gratitude with a warm meal and cuddles well into the night, followed by a flurry of kisses across their face until they looked as giddy as he felt in this very moment.
Until then, he had to return to his treasures and add the newest member of the family to the pile.

We have our regular bills mostly covered now. I called around for plumbers because we still can't get tub to drain.
First plumber: $159/hour, $5 fuel feed, not sure how long the work will take, obviously, so budget for three hours minimum.
Second plumber: $149 for the trip, no hourly fee, but won't know how much it'll cost until they get here and examine everything. I'll need to cover materials and the cost of the job. The fee for the trip here will be waived if we accept their quote and have them work on it. Could be a $500 job for all we know.
Third plumber: $189 to make the trip here, $149/hour, minimum one hour, trip fee is waived if we hire them. Suggested to budget three hours for this.
I'll be finished with the dining set I'm presently working on. There are loads of scraps, so I'm opening "pay what you want" with a minimum amount.
I'm applying for a grant through a city program here to have the plumbing replaced, but they cover up to $10k. We were quoted $11k two years ago. There's likely a waiting list, and I'm not certain if we'll be approved or not. If we are, yay! If not...well, who wants to pay ahead for some quilts? When I have a machine for my quilting frame that will allow me to quilt items larger than 30x30 inches, your quilt(s) will be first on the list after I practice. With a lot of luck, I'll have a machine by the end of the year.
Here are examples of my work:

Free Numby Sewing Pattern!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a collaboration with Hologramo (Instagram and Etsy) and is of moderate difficulty, intended for people with some understanding of sewing patterns, fabric grain, etc. The pattern can be used for a plushie or for the muppet-style puppet shown above!
FABRIC: I used shiny performance stretch fabric for all elements except the shell, which I made from white cotton knit and heat transfer vinyl. Fleece also worked well in testing, so minky and other similar fabric should work as well. I do NOT recommend cotton weave (muslin, quilting cotton, etc) because that test was much too rigid for my purposes as a muppet. You'll need about 3/4ths of a yard of black fabric, 1/2 yard of white, and 1/3 yard of gold and purple each.
STUFFING: If you're doing a plushie, you will only need Polyfill or other stuffing, but if you're doing a puppet I used a bit of Polyfill for the throat/ears/legs plus upholstery foam in 1/4 inch and 1 inch thicknesses.
The pattern:
Tumblr media
Scale the above image to whatever size you need (Paint, not Paint 3D is an easy tool to print at 150% size or more) and print it out on your computer. (Mine I think scaled to six pages?) Cut out each piece, taping pieces that printed on multiple pages together, and lay it as so on FOLDED FABRIC with the salvage edge at the bottom of the image.
Cut out each of the shapes above (giving you two mirrored pieces of fabric) and a second set of two for the teeth and ears. You'll also want a second set of shell fabric if you're making this a puppet or want more dimension in the back.
Side, belly, and both legs should be in black fabric, teeth and ears should be in gold, and shell should be white.
THE BODY
Begin to line up the seams by matching up the colored lines - deep blue is where the belly and the side meet, for example - with the right sides (the pretty sides) of the fabric together. I recommend sewing the front and back pieces of each leg together first (leaving the large hole at the top) then one belly to one side as illustrated below (rough sketch).
Tumblr media
Now, you'll want to ease the front and back legs into the green and blue holes illustrated above. You might need to just barely snip along the fabric of the legs, or gather them, but the end result should give you legs that are not quite flat. If you're having trouble, I recommend watching a tutorial on sewing puffed sleeves - it's a very similar process.
Tumblr media
With your arms sewn in, you can now sew the two belly seams together! Leave a large gap in the center of the belly (between the legs) if you're making a puppet - this is where your hand will go.
PUPPET STEPS ONLY: Now is when you will need to stuff the legs! Fill with Polyfill or other fluffy stuffing to the desired density, then cut a circle of scrap fabric and sew it on the other side of the leg hole to stop the stuffing from slipping out. You need to do this to keep the body cavity empty, while also ensuring the legs look properly filled. Here is a picture of what the 'bottom half' of Puppet!Numby looked like with his legs fluffed:
Tumblr media
The white are the circles of scrap fabric that keep the leg fluff contained.
You can do the ears and teeth now, too; just put two mirrors pieces together, right sides together, sew most of the way through then turn inside out. I stuffed my teeth with upholstery foam cut into pyramid-like shapes and my ears with a front piece of 1/4 inch foam and backed with Polyfill, but it's up to you how to do these. Set the teeth and ears aside for now.
THE SHELL
The reason I did the white shell in cotton was because I wanted to iron on the decals for Numby, and polyester glitter stretch does not want to take HTV (heat transfer vinyl) very well. Sew the two pink seams on the back together, leaving the keyhole open.
Sew your shell pieces together first, then make your HTV pattern of it of paper and make sure things line up. Unfortunately, due to image limits on Tumblr (and losing the pattern pieces) I can't put the pattern for his markings here. Iron on the decals (on one shell side, if you cut out two sets) before moving to the next step!
PUPPET STEPS ONLY: Now is when you make your first cut with foam! Cut two pieces of the back pattern in 1/4 inch thick upholstery foam and glue the two middle seams together at an angle so that the foam forms an arched/dome shape. (Mine looked like a horseshoe crab.) I used the E6000 fabric glue. Trim any sharp edges smooth, then use the foam as a 'filling' for a sandwich of the shell pieces. If you need more advice on working with foam, I recommend looking up fur suit head tutorials or videos from drag queens discussing how to make padding. You need foam, not Polyfill, to make a shape that holds together when the body cavity is empty.
Tumblr media
THE FILLING
If this is just a plushie, now is when you can sew most of the shell to the lower half of the body, add the teeth and the ears, and stuff like most any plushie. For the puppet though... your work is just starting.
If you want to make this a puppet, you'll need to make a mouth out of cardboard with a scored hinge, and straps for your fingers and thumb out of duct tape. There's tutorials elsewhere for how to make a Muppet-style puppet elsewhere and this is already HILARIOUSLY long, so check those out. I recommend adding a little narrow piece of cardboard on the top, just past where the pads of your fingers sit, to help 'grip' the puppet mouth when manipulating it. This can just be taped on.
Once the mouth is assembled, sew 3/4th of one side of the shell to one side of the belly/side piece we made earlier, leaving space but the nose for the mouth to be glued in. It'll look almost like a clam, with the white shell piece as the top hinge and the belly/side/legs as the bottom hinge. Cut a ~5 inch wide strip of your 1 inch thick foam and form a large 'ring' inside Numby right around where his front legs sit. It needs to be a continuous piece because we'll be relying on the tension of the foam wanting to lay flat but being forced into a ring to give us structure. Trim the sharp edges, glue the ends together, and pin the legs to the foam to help it dry in place.
Tumblr media
Above is an image of me grabbing the foam circle - note that the 'throat' and 'belly' are totally empty.
Use more foam to fill out the sides of the puppet, again placing the pieces behind the legs to coax them to stick out. I also put a little bit of foam under Numby's chin where the fabric sticks out - glue that piece to the cardboard just past where your thumb rests on the lower jaw mechanisms. Hand-sew the other side but leave the snout open. Below are some more photos of the hollow inside, showing the upholstery foam (white and green)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the ears on the puppet, I cut a single long piece of heavy-gauge wire I had laying around into a U shape, carefully bending the cut ends so that they were no longer sharp. Cut tiny slits in the white shell fabric at the front of where you want your ears to sit. Thread this wire into one ear, then through the hole in the shell. Glue/tape the bend of the U to the outside top part of the cardboard jaw, then repeat on the other side with the other ear.
Handsew the ears to the white shell, the teeth to the lower jaw of the puppet, and attach the puppet mouth to both top and bottom. Glue on the purple fabric to the ears and the inside of the mouth, and there you go!
Please feel free to reach out with questions! Happy sewing!
