The quilted progress pride pillowcase is finished! Finally used all those fancy decorative stitches my sewing machine has. They are indeed very decorative. First time actually finishing a quilt and being happy with it. Yes, it's a little bubbly and wonky, but I don't care. Because it's a pillowcase, nobody would notice if it were all perfectly neat. The filling is a cobbled together bunch of floof from all the pillows my dog has torn up in the past. Don't worry, she won't get this one.
Based on my own pattern, which is in turn based on the progress pride flag design by Valentino Vecchietti.

happy happy pride month my fellow lgbt+ folk ! <3
[ID] an artwork of Ladybug and Chat Noir from Miraculous Ladybug marching in a pride parade. They are linked together arm in arm holding Valentino Vecchietti's Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride flag as a cape. Ladybug is wearing a single bi pride flag bin, while Chat Noir is wearing a black t shirt that has text going from "pride month" in white fading away to a rainbow "demon" in all caps, a pan pride flag pin, and a nonbinary pride flag pin. The background is slightly blurry and shows several other pride flags decorating the buildings as rainbow confetti falls from the sky [/ID]

Since today marks the 53rd year since the first Pride parade took place, let's dive into the history of the "progress" of our Pride flag.
This new flag is called the Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride Flag, created by Valentino Vecchietti of Intersex Equality Rights UK in 2021. It is an update to the previous Progress Pride Flag created in 2018 by Daniel Quasar.
Tumblr media
The original pride flag was created in the 1970s by gay activist Gilbert Baker, friend of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California. The flag made its debut at the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day Parade celebration on June 25, 1978. Baker used eight colors―
Tumblr media
― hot pink for sexuality, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for the sun, green for nature, turquoise for art, indigo for harmony, and violet for spirit.
Tumblr media
Why Was Pink Removed From the Pride Flag?
The original hot pink color was removed from the pride flag because the fabric was difficult to find.
Tumblr media
The Progress Pride Flag was created with the inspiration of other pride flags—specifically, the Philadelphia Pride Flag from 2017 and the trans flag.
The Philadelphia Pride Flag had black and brown vertical stripes added. The trans flag, created in 1999, is pink, baby blue, and white. Both of these flags inspired the design of the new pride flag.
Black and Brown Represents People of Color
The Philadelphia Pride Flag was designed by the Philadelphia Office of LGBT Affairs and was done in partnership with advertising agency Tierney. It was introduced at a City Hall ceremony in June of 2017. The flag showed the traditional six rainbow colors in horizontal stripes, with a black and a brown stripe atop them.
The colors black and brown were added to the Progress Pride Flag to represent people of color (POC). This was an important addition because people of color have often been left out of the queer narrative despite being the driving force behind the movement.
With the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement, culture at large began to shift in a much-needed way towards acknowledging the vital roles that people of color have had in our society. The pride movement background is one of many areas where POC, particularly Black people, did not receive the recognition they deserved historically. Adding colors to represent them on the flag is one way to change that.
Additionally, the black and brown stripes are meant to represent people living with HIV/AIDS, those who have died from it, and the stigma around the virus that is still present in our society now.
Tumblr media
Pink, Baby Blue, and White Represent Trans People
Transwoman Monica Helms created the trans pride flag, which first flew in a pride parade in Phoenix, Arizona back in 2000. Monica Helms is a transgender activist, author, and U.S. Navy veteran.
Traditionally, the colors pink and baby blue have been used to represent whether a baby is a boy or a girl. Here, the colors denote those genders. The color white represents people who are transitioning, intersex, or identify outside of the gender binary.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The word "progress" in the new flag isn't only about adding the new colors to it. It's also because of the shape, which differs from the original design of horizontal stripes only. The Progress Pride Flag shows the white, pink, baby blue, black, and brown stripes in a triangle shape, with the old six-color rainbow stacked next to them.
This was done intentionally to convey the separation in meaning and shift focus to how important the issues represented on the left are.
The placement of the new colors in an arrow shape is meant to convey the progress still needed. Quasar spoke publicly about how work is still needed in terms of POC and trans rights. This arrow design is meant to highlight that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although the Pride flag continues to evolve, the most recent update includes a yellow triangle with a purple circle inside it to represent the intersex community. It now serves as the most up-to-date LGBTQIA+ flag.

Choose a palette and a character (or ask your followers to do it for you!) and create something!
Many thanks to Persea (@quasar-concept) for making the palettes and the background <3
Works can be completed at any time and interpreted as you see fit - we hope you enjoy creating with these palettes this month! If you’ve never considered yourself a artist before - special shout out to you people and we hope that you get inspired to give even one palette a go!!
Tag using #thunderpride and @thunder-pride so we can share your wonderful works!
Pride Flags are used to represent sexualities and gender identities for many queer people. They are a way of show solidarity both within and between queer identities, and also to proclaim who we are to everyone. Most flags also use colour symbolism to represent what the creator felt was important aspects of the community.
If you would like to explore more flags for #14, you can do so here (sexualities) and here (gender identities).
You can learn more about the flags that inspired each palette below the cut.
1 - The current Lesbian Pride Flag was created by Emily Gwen in 2018. A five-stripe variant is commonly used today.
2 - The current Gay Men Pride Flag was created by Triton in 2019. A five stripe variant is commonly used today.
3 - The Bisexual Pride Flag was created by Michael Page in 1998.
4 - The Transgender Pride Flag was created by Monica Helms in 1999
5 - The Asexual Pride Flag was created by standup, an active user on AVEN (Asexuality Visibility and Education Network) in 2010.
6 - The Non-binary Pride Flage was created by Kyle Rowan in 2014.
7 - The Genderfluid Pride Flag was created by JJ Poole in 2014
8 - The Genderqueer Pride Flag was created in Marilyn Roxie in 2011
9 - The original Pride Flag (now known as the Gilbert Baker Pride Flag) was created by Gilbert Baker in 1978. The six stripe variant (without the pink) is now well recognised as an umbrella pride flag for the queer community.
10 - The Pansexual Pride Flag was created by Jasper V in 2010
11 - The Polyamorous Pride Flag was recently updated by a community vote held in 2022 to a design known as the “tricolor polyamory pride flag” which was created by Red Howell, however the original design from 1995, by Jim Evans, is still circulated amongst many and still well recognised. You will likely see others if you go searching online.
12 - The Intersex Pride Flag was created by Morgan Carpenter in 2013
13 - The Aromantic Pride Flag was created by cameronwhimsy in 2014.
14 – The Progress Pride Flag was created by Daniel Quasar in 2018 and was inspired by the Philadelphia Pride Flag (2017). The current intersex inclusive version was adapted by Valentino Vecchietti in 2021.

Rainbow Flag Timeline
Pre-Flag
Pink Triangle
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[December 19, 1938, Corbis/Getty Images]
The upside-down pink triangle was used to mark queer "men" (including mlm, gnc men, male sex workers, and trans women) during the Holocaust. The symbol was reclaimed by many, and is still occasionally used today. However, it was not accepted as a general sign for the community, both because of the painful history connected to it, and because it did not include a large chunk of the community.
Lambda
Tumblr media
[Gay Activists Alliance parade, June 1970, NYPL]
Although this was not technically a flag, the lambda (triangle-shaped Greek letter on the banner) was quite often used to represent the GAA, gay activists' alliance, and thus became a sort of gay symbol, although this wasn't often used because of the complicated printing process and because of people's personal politics not aligning with the GAA.
Original Flag, 1978
The original rainbow flag was created to represent the community on Gay Freedom Day, what we now consider Pride (June 25, 1978), by the Decorating Committee of The Pride Foundation.
Tumblr media
[Gay Freedom Day Committee, June 25, 1978, photograph by Elaine Gay Jarvis, Elaine Gay Jarvis Papers (2018-90), GLBT Historical Society]
Tumblr media
This committee was led by Gilbert Baker and Lynn Segerblom (known then as the Fairy Argyle Rainbow), and indeed in recent years the story has been told that they were the original creators, however, Lee Mentley, who was an executive committee member and one of the many volunteers, notes that "Gilbert was there and yes he helped but he was no Betsy Ross."
Gilbert Baker did, however, dedicate a good portion of his life to popularizing his flag, and thus it is understandable how he became an idol.
The stripes represent, from top to bottom, sex, life, healing, sunlight, nature, magic and art, serenity, and spirit.
Tumblr media
[Lynn Segerblom with the flag, June 1978, James MacNamara]

[June 25, 1978, Crawford Barton]
A second version, reversed, and based off of the American flag, was also flown.
Tumblr media
[June 24, 1978, James McNamara]
Seven Stripes, 1978
After the murder of Harvey Milk, the openly gay governor of San Francisco, demands for the flag that he had worked on skyrocketed. However, the hot pink proved too difficult to handle, and thus this flag was born. [x]
Tumblr media
Six Stripes, 1979
In 1979, there was an idea to split the flag in half at a parade, and so the turquoise stripe was cut. This version of the flag is most popular today. [x]
Tumblr media
Victory Over AIDS, 1980
In the 1980s, HIV/AIDS was rampaging the country, taking the lives of thousands of people, especially hurting queer men.
This flag was created to commemorate the fallen, and Sergeant Matlovich, who was himself dying of AIDS, brought forth the idea that should a cure ever be found, the black stripes should be removed and burned. [x]
Tumblr media
Nine Stripe Flag, 2017
In March 2017, Baker redesigned the flag with "another color to represent diversity in the age of Trump," adding a lilac stripe to the top of the original colour scheme. He passed away at the end of that month at the age of 65.
Tumblr media
Philadelphia Flag, 2017
In June 2017, after an outcry over racism within the LGBTQ+ community, Philadelphia's Office of LGBT Affairs, in partnership with designing company Tierney, created the following flag to highlight QPOC voices. [x, x, x]
Tumblr media
São Paulo, 2018
During a parade in São Paulo called "Love Fest", one of the cofounders of the parade used the following flag.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[February 12, 2018, Love Fest, Ana Carolina Moreno]
Progress Flag, 2018
Non-binary graphic designer Daniel Quesar (xe/xem/they/them) started a campaign to create a more inclusive pride flag that highlighted QPOC as well as trans people in June 2018.
Tumblr media
The traditional stripes take up most of the flag, as to not distract from the history, while the white, pink, blue, brown, and black stripes are in the shape of a triangle, to represent moving forward. [x]
Modern Progress Flag, 2021
In 2021, Intersex activist Valentino Vecchietti of Intersex Equality Rights UK added the yellow and purple intersex flag to the chevron, resulting in the following flag. [x]
Tumblr media
Conclusion
This flag will be ever-evolving as our definitions of queerness evolve and as we highlight more and more marginalized parties of our community. There will always be more variations, and that is not a bad thing.

Intersex-Inclusive Pride Flag
Over the years, the rainbow LGBTQ flag has evolved to become increasingly inclusive. One of the most recent updates came in 2021, when Valentino Vecchietti of Intersex Equality Rights UK added a yellow triangle with a purple circle—the design of the Intersex Pride Flag—to the Progress Pride Flag.

The Complete Guide To All The Queer Pride Flags
Pride has put up a very helpful overview over all the pride flags they know about.
You can read the article here: Here's The Complete Guide To All The Queer Pride Flags We Fly
Here are two flags to get you going:
Tumblr media
Progress Pride Flag
This new flag seeks to take Philadelphia's inclusive approach a step further. Daniel Quasar, who identifies as queer and nonbinary, designed this flag. The white, pink, and light blue reflect the colors of the transgender flag, while the brown and black stripes represent people of color and those lost to AIDS. “When the Pride flag was recreated in the last year to include both black/brown stripes as well as the trans stripes included this year, I wanted to see if there could be more emphasis in the design of the flag to give it more meaning,” Quasar explained on his Kickstarter.

Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride Flag
The addition of the Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride Flag in 2021 adds the intersex community to the progress Pride Flag and represents the most up-to-date LGBTQ+ flag, created by Valentino Vecchietti of Intersex Equality Rights UK.

Hello! Happy June! It's Pride and I have another question (5/30)
In the very first ask, I talked about the original Rainbow Pride Flag (designed by Gilbert Baker), but today let's talk about some other ones (sexuality/romantic orientation today, gender tomorrow):
Aromantic: The Aromantic Pride flag consists of 5 horizontal stripes. [Top->Bottom: Green, Light Green (aromanticism/aro-spec), White (non-romantic forms of love), Grey, and Black (the sexuality spectrum)] The flag was designed in 2014 by Cameron Whimsy (cameronwhimsy on tumblr).
Asexuality: The Asexual Pride flag consists of 4 horizontal stripes. [Black (Asexuality), Grey (Grey-Ace + Demisexual), White (Allies<- this has been debated/ talked about being changed), and Purple (Community)] The flag was created by an Asexual Visibility and Education Network user standup in 2010, as part of a community drive to created on.
Bisexuality: The Bisexual Pride flag consists of 1 broad stripe, 1 thin stripe and another broad stripe. [Pink (Sexual attraction to the same sex), Purple (the overlap colour representing sexual attraction to both sexes), and Blue (Sexual attraction to the opposite sex)] The flag was designed by Michael Page and introduced on December 5 1998. There is also a symbol of a blue and pink overlapping triangle that can be used to represent bisexual pride.
Lesbian: There is no one accepted Lesbian Pide flag, however the currently most used one is a 5 striped variation of the 7 striped Orange-Pink lesbian flag. (The 7 striped flag was created by tumblrina Emily Gwen in 2018. [Dark Orange (Gender non-conformity), Orange (independence), Light Orange (Community), White (Unique relationships to womanhood), Pink (Serenity and Peace), Dusty Pink (Love and Sex), and Dark Rose (Femininity)]
Pansexuality: The Pansexual pride flag consists of 3 horizontal stripes. [Pink (Attraction to women), Yellow (Attraction to non-binary genders/other genders), and Blue (Attraction to men)]. This flag was introduced in October 2010, again by another tumblr blig ("Pansexual Pride Flag").
Polyamory: Originally this flag was desing by Jim Evans in 1995, and it consisted of 3 horizontal stripes of Blue, Red, and Black with a gold Pi sign in the middle. However, this ended up being more confusing than anything else, and so a committee came together to vote on a new flag. The new flag was designed by Red Howell in 2022, and it consists of 3 horizonal stripes of Blue, Pink and Purple, with an off-centre White chevron on the left and a Gold Heart in the chevron.
Progress Pride Flag: The Progress Pride Flage evolved from the Philadelphia Pride Flag, and was created by Daniel Quasar (xe/xyr) in 2018. It consists of the traditional pride flag as the background, with a triangluar stripes of white/pink/blue (for thr trans community) and brown (people of colour and their contribution to the movement) and black (previous and a nod to the thousands of individuals were lost to the AIDs crisis. [There is also a variation of this flag which includes a triangle with the Intersex Pride flag addition and this was created by Valentino Vecchietti in 2021] [There was/is a little controversy with the Progress flag as Daniel Quasar did decide to copyright it]
Queer: The Queer Pride flag consists of 9 horizontal stripes. [Black, Light Blue, Blue, Green, White, Yellow, Pink, Dusty Pink, Black](The pink and blue shades represent same-gender attraction, orang and green stand for non-binary and gender non-conforming individuals and the balck and white stripes symbolise the asexual/aroamntic/agender community. It was created in 2015.
And so my question today (and yes it is late, I moved and vastly underestimated how many clothes I own, whoops), if you could design a flag to describe everything that makes you feel proud, what colours do you think would work best? (you can give as much or as little detail as you want, give an actual design or just list colours, or whatever, this is completely open ended and up to you)( i know it would probably take thought for people, so like don't feel pressure to answer instantly or whatever, take however long you need to be satisfied)
Happy Pride 🌈 🎉
Tumblr media
the zigzag pattern represents my non-binary and asexual identity which are the most important to me, and the flag in the background is the muted version of the Omnisexual flag, which is my romantic orientation

Progress Pride Flag Quilt Block Pattern & Tutorial
Tumblr media
Don't you just love the flag of our people? Do you have an inner grandma that years to make stuff? Do you want to combine these two things and make a queer quilt?
Well, I've got you.
Tumblr media
Behold the pattern! And my lack of graphic skills, so I drew it on paper!
Basically it's a bunch of rectangles, one half square triangle and a fuzzy cut circle. I don't know shit about quilting and I was able to come up with it. Why Centimeter, you ask? Because I'm German and that's what I'm familiar with. Why weird measurements and not jelly rolls and layer cakes and stuff? Because I'm German and quilting is not really a thing here.
Onto the tutorial!
You'll need:
A scrap of fabric of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, brown, light blue, pink, white each
additional fabric for the border
Cutting mat, quilting ruler, roll cutter
sewing machine
thread
pins
double sided interfacing
iron and ironing board
fabric sheers
compasses
Tumblr media
Step 1: Cut everything. Duh. We'll take care of the circle later, don't worry about that now. The half square triangle is exactly what it sounds like. A square and then you cut it diagonally. That's why I didn't give the length of the hypotenuse.
(Note: I'm making two blocks at the same time, that's why there's so much fabric. Also this is a middle of the night project, hence the lighting.)
I'm using all kinds of different fabrics, different weights and drapes, some stretchy, some transparent, so I needed to interface some of them.
Tumblr media
Step 2: Sew the rainbow together. 0,5cm seam allowance on everything, that's exactly the edge of the foot on your machine. Double and triple check that everything is facing the right direction before sewing. The seam of yellow and green does not get sewn fully, only 21,5 cm! That's important later! Also backtack there. Don't forget to iron.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Step 3: Sew the strips to the half square triangle. For this you have to switch between the sewing machine and the ironing board constantly. Attach the shorter strip diretly to one side of the HST, iron it open. The second strip of the same colour gets attatched to the other side of the HST and the first strip. Look at the pictures closely if you're unsure how that works. Also the strips are longer than the triangle. We'll square that up later.
Tumblr media
All strips attatched will look like this. See how the two strips meet at the tip!
Tumblr media
Step 4: Cut the rainbow part to size. The seam between yellow and green is 22cm long. The shorter seam from before and some seam allowance. The outsides of red and purple are 44,5cm long. You will cut a little triangle from every single colour. Do this slowly and carefully. Maybe your fabrics have stretched a bit (mine did). Don't worry, it will be ok.
Tumblr media
Step 5: The Y seam, part one. Y seams are tricky, but there's only one for this block. So put your straps part on your rainbow part and line them up so that the tip of the strip part overhangs the seam between yellow and green. Remember that it's not about the edges of the fabric, but where the seam will be. So position the strap part so that the 0,5cm seam will meet the yellow-green seam.
But don't sew all the way! Leave 0,5cm at the tip!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Step 6: The Y seam, part two. Now, fold both the rainbow part and the strips part in half and if you've done the last step correctly, the remaining two edges will allign. Pin and sew.
I can't explain it better than I've done here, I'm sure there are tutorias out there. Good luck!
Tumblr media
Step 7: Square up. Iron your block to that everything is nice and straight and flat. Then use the fabric edges of the red and purple to cut the remaining ends of the strips. Use the HST to cut the white. Be careful, the long side of the triangle is on the bias and likely stretched a bit.
I already added borders here. I'm making a pillow case.
Tumblr media
Step 8: Fuzzy cut and raw edge applique. Double sided iron on interfacing is essentially double sided tape. It has two types of glue, one gets activated by 2 seconds of heat, the other by 5 or so (depends on the product). The second side is also covered with a paper that needs to be removed before the second glueing. Read the instructions of the product you are using!
Use your compasses to draw a circle on the protective paper side of the interfacing. Cut it out roughly. Then place it with the rougher side on the backside of your purple fabric and iron for 2 seconds on middle heat. If you've just ironed your fabric before and the ironing board is still hot, wait for it to cool down. Also let the fabric cool down after applying. Then cut out your circle. The interfacing will have stiffened the fabric, so that shouldn't be a problem. Then remove the protective paper, place the circle on the yellow triangle where you want it and iron for 5 seconds. Let cool.
And you're done! The applique at this point is only secured with the interfacing, but it should hold fairly well. The quilting will secure it further.
And that's it. BTW, did you know that this design was made by Valentino Vecchietti for Intersex Equality Rights UK in 2021? Now you do. Happy quilting!

Rainbows and Rage - A History of the Pride Flag (Part 2):
In this part, I will be talking about the Progress Flag, its inspiration and some of its more interesting variations.
Tumblr media
The Philadelphia is possibly one of the most used variations of the rainbow flag, aside from the Progress Flag, and may have possibly been an inspiration for the progress flag.
Tumblr media
It added black and brown to highlight racism in the LGBTQ+ community and was designed as part of a collaboration between Philadelphia's Office of LGBT Affairs and the company Tierney. It was the first change to the rainbow flag to be "officially" recognised, but was also contraversial.
In my opinion, it is a great flag to highlight the importance of intersectionallity within the queer community, but it should not be used in any way to replace the original rainbow. Doing that would imply that BIPIOC were not originally represented by the rainbow and need to be added on seperately. This is absolutely not true and as a community the last thing we should be doing is dividing ourselves up. The idea of the rainbow was that everyone of all different genders, races and identities were united as one powerful community, and we should be continuing that sentiment forward.
Additionally, the "officialness" of these changes really contrasts to the creation of the original flag, and I believe that symbols are best created from within a community rather than introduced by someone who is "in charge".
However, I need to mention that I am white, which means that my opinion will never be as valuable as opinions from people who are meant to be represented by this flag. I have usedvarious opinions from BIPOC, to inform my conclusion, but there does not seem to be any clear consensus about this flag and my opinion may be influenced by my unconcious biases.
Tumblr media
The Progress Flag, created in 2018 by Daniel Quasar is arguably the most popular and contraversial iteration of the rainbow pride flag.
Tumblr media
The aim of the flag was to emphasis that there is still progress which needs to be made with LGBTQ+ rights, especially within marginalised communities. The chevron pointing right is meant to represent the idea of forward progress and the colours of it represent marginalised communities within the LGBTQ+ community: white, pink and blue from the trans flag, and black and brown inspired by the Philadelphia flag to symbolise BIPOC. The black also represesnts people who have died from/are living with HIV/AIDS.
My views on this are similar to the Philedelphia Flag: it is good and the message behind it is good, but it should not replace the original rainbow. The only difference with this is that it is also not at all aesthetically pleasing.
Tumblr media
In 2021, the flag was updated by Valentino Vecchietti to include intersex people:
Tumblr media
This addition is fascinating to me, because it so clearly reveals one of the Progress Flag's main issues, and rather than solving it, it contributed to the problem. The Progress Flag aims to highlight trans BIPOC experiences, but when it is used as a replacement for the original rainbow, that automatically excludes anyone else. This soon turns into a competition of who is the "most oppressed" and who deserves a special place on the flag. Clearly this is unproductive and divides the community with pointless discource. This flag proposed that intersex people were one these "most oppressed" groups and added them to the flag, which makes the question: why aren't [minority identity] group of people on the flag?, a reasonable one to ask.
(Ohio Flag Meme)
Additionally, the main use of this flag is by corporations, because it makes them seem "inclusive", but this is a performative sentiment, and does not help the LGBTQ+ community at all.
Tumblr media
However, one version of the flag that does seem to have good intentions AND a good record of use is the New Pride Flag by Julia Feliz:
Tumblr media
I don't think I can do this flag's explanation justice, so I highly encourage you to read about it on its website: The New Pride Flag.
Tumblr media
This had been part 2 of my series of posts on the rainbow flag and I have a lot more that I am excited to cover... If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them! I would also encourage you to approach my opinions cautiously and do some more research before you form you own about these specific flags, because there is a lot more nuance than I can fit into one post :)
Whichever flag you love: fly it with rage, rainbows and most importantly PRIDE!!! :)

Happy Pride 🌈 🎉
i can't help but feel as though a flag top represent /me/ would comprise what my roommate calls the 'indi palette' (<- in reference to my middle name, which is what i go by irl). those colours are a bright green, bright purple, and bright blue. hard to say if they'd really be representative of anything, but . i love that combination so much that i feel as tho it'd be the best way to capture /me/ ... tho i think the design might be more circular stripes than horizontal or vertical ones. like a radiating pattern ? just for funsies

Hello!

I would have a flag that is of a ombre style where one color bleeds into the next. I'd start with a teal color dunno what that represents I just like it maybe my boygirl swag and then I would move to the pink of the original triangle anti nazi sort of my thing as a jew and rom and then maybe into a deep purple cause I like all genders !

This is going to be long omg hi hi 🌈
I think my flag for myself would have triangles to make up a rectangle ▶️🔽🔼◀️ like this if that makes sense so that all the tips meet in the middle with the colors being purple green yellow and blue with each of the colors matching up with the triangles above and there would be infinity symbols of the other colors over the quadrants to kind of symbolize balance or kind of invoking ying Yang okay I gave up on describing and drew a really crude sketch on my phone look ⬇️ imagine this was filled in and neat. I like that it kind of looks like a kite and the infinity is a symbol that I really treasure besides it kind of being seen as basic. The infinity symbols also are kind of like clips holding the triangles together and I like the idea of the flag being a mismatch of different unique parts that are just barely held together. Just like I’m shaped by distinct areas of interest and parts of my life. I think triangles are strong shapes which I like better than rectangles that most flags are made of and I should probably talk about the symbolism of the colors a little bit but I’ve gone on long enough so here thanks for this question 🌈

ok ive stared at this for a long time and like looked through different colors and their potential meanings and like. it's hard man 😭 thank you for listing out the ones you did btw i only knew about a couple of them, i think flag design in general is really special but also kind of hard and not really for me i kept making weird ones and it's just not pretty. but i think above all else i'd want a flag with colors that can mean acceptance (like . both self-acceptance and just the concept of acceptance in general?), community, maybe some to do with the spectrum of sexuality and romantic attraction and gender kind of like the aro and ace flags. :)
