i'm honestly so obsessed with eleanor and peter's dynamic already - peter is just immediately fond of her. he just, he likes her right off the bat. she's charismatic, and brave, and peter knows it right out of the gate.

peter's so ready to sign those adoption papers. he loves eleanor already. she's everything that he loves in wade.

peter's perpetually in eleanor's corner - he's the soft-willed fun parent - if she can't get her way with wade, she'll run to peter and know that he literally cannot say no.

he thinks that means he's the favourite, but eleanor is a master manipulator just like her biological father and knows exactly who to talk to and what to say to get everything she wants. so if she knows she won't win with wade, she'll trick peter into her bidding. peter is but a naïve pawn in eleanor's games. he believes she can do no wrong, even though every ounce of wade wilson's wickedness courses through her veins. and sometimes eleanor double crosses peter. she has no loyalty. it shocks peter to his core, every time, but she's one step ahead of him, every time.

i can't wait for you guys to see how diabolical eleanor is going to be. oh my god. ohhh my god. see, peter and wade both have dormant supervillain potential within them that they suppress, but eleanor's supervillain gene is Active and she is a Horror.

Simon, who will pretend his heart rate doesn't speed up when Johnny leans over him where he's sat, cleaning and sharpening his knives. He'll half-heartedly shrug Johnny off when the sergeant plops his chin on Simon's shoulder unceremoniously with a gruff "what're you up to, L.T.?"

Simon, who will ignore the way he always seems to subconsciously gravitate towards Johnny, whether it's snagging the chair next to him during a debrief, or coming to stand next to him in the training yard even though neither of them have anything to say to the other.

Simon, who will never admit that his lips quirk up into a small, dumb grin when Johnny groans in distaste after Simon tells one of his usual dry-toned army puns as they sit side by side on the bench after a rough sparring session, water bottles in hand and a white towel slung over Johnny's shoulder. (Simon also won't admit the way watching the sweat bead up and trail down Johnny's throat, over the collarbone, and into that baggy tank top makes it harder for him to swallow.)

Simon, who will never admit to Johnny— or himself— that he's head over heels.

i'm rereading the garden scene and i'd completely forgotten about this moment of gawyn just totally losing his marbles over rand i'm HOWLING the case for (onesided & unknown-to-rand) randwyn gets stronger every day

No for real tho re: my last tags on that being traumatized by your parents post. my parents are my role models when it comes to a hypothetical future where I have a child, in that I'll take everything they did, showed me, and taught me and do the complete opposite. Like I'm not going to pretend that I'll be perfect and I know it'll be stressful and no matter how careful I am i will inevitably make mistakes, but like I'm committed to not screaming at my child every time they knock something over or drop or spill or even break something. I need it ingrained in my mind if it ever happens that my first priority is to make sure the kid didn't get hurt and then after making sure they're okay, teach my child how to clean up the mess. That's infinitely more of a grace that I was ever shown growing up where I was screamed at the very second I clumsily dropped or knocked over something, unable to take a breath to steady myself bc my mother would be screaming at me if I didn't clean it at lighting speed the very moment it happened. Like is a slightly stained carpet worth all that terror?

My crack theory for ATN is that John will use Kiriona to preserve the sun (and the nine houses) by transferring the 'godhood' to her, which is why he didn't resurrect her in a regular body but in an immortal one, also why he's been flaunting her as his heir tower prince yadda yadda, so he can go fuck off and become mortal again and live the rest of his days on earth, frying that bacon Tamsyn talked about.

The tension of the book will either be him failing in doing that or succeeding and now they have the job to turn Kiriona mortal again.

With this also fulfilling the generational ructions she talks about.

If anything, John is crafty, and it'd be foolish of us to think he doesn't have a plan, what that plan is gonna try to achieve is where I fall flat, but we know the first step has been completed: the Tomb is open and Alecto is free (and if we consider those dreams are his actual connection to Alecto, he might've known about Harrow's soul swap and getting her back was also part of the plan).
