Sanjuno’s Story and Fandom Masterlist

I’m going to pin this list of titles so that people can more easily figure out what they want to vote for each Friday. Anything labelled with Meta, WIP, or Concept can be voted for.

1. ATTACK ON TITAN

1.1. Coordinates T by H: Eren’s coordinator abilities allow him to metaphysically bond with other humans, thereby giving everyone in the group the ability to psychically communicate with the rest and also boosting everyone’s healing ability exponentially to be on par with the Titan Shifters. 2. BLEACH

2.1. What Happens on Vacation: Crossover with YYH – turns out that Kurosaki Misaki was a senior ferry girl on sabbatical (which translates as living a mortal life unaware of her true nature) and she was late returning to work due to being trapped in Grand Fishers gut. Ichigo and Uryuu are very confused when their “cousin” Kazuma shows up to introduce his new bride to the family. Koenma is just really pissed off by all the paperwork he needs to deal with while cleaning up his father’s mismanaged pet project. Chaptered, WIP - Unposted

3. CODE GEASS

3.1. A Code of Ice and Fire: Crossover with GOT – Lelouch, his two younger siblings, and Lelouch’s most loyal followers are reincarnated into Westeros. Lelouch proceeds to make it his lifelong mission to drive Cersei into frothing fits and strengthens the Baratheon dynasty to the point that even Tywin is impressed by his grandson’s machinations. Then CC shows up with dragons and Ned Stark starts to think that maybe Robert’s onto something with the “drinking to forget” idea. Meta

3.2. Abandon Thyself: Post-Zero Requiem Suzaku travels back in time to the scene in the Shinjuku Ghettos when the truck explodes. Given that the people closest to him haven’t actually spoken to Suzaku in years, the origins of Suzaku’s obvious mental instability is hilariously misattributed by various outside PoVs. So when Suzaku hits his knees in front of Lelouch, swearing eternal devotion and vowing to make Lelouch the next emperor nobody panics. (They should really reconsider panicking.) 3.3. The Sun Also Rises: At the moment of his death in the Zero Requiem, Lelouch travels back in time to his childhood body. With only a week to go before Marianne is “assassinated by terrorists” Lelouch sets out to rearrange the board in a way none of the other players will see coming until it’s far too late. Lelouch has been given a second chance to make things right, and Lelouch wouldn’t be Lelouch if he didn’t plan big. This time around, Lelouch plans for his victory to be a bit more obvious. 4. DCU

4.1. Time Enough: Terry McGinnis, his little brother Matt, and their dogs are the only members of their timeline to survive because Bruce Wayne was too old to see any more of his sons die in front of him. So they all got knocked out, shoved into an escape capsule, and ejected from the Batman Beyond timeline before it crumbles. Said time pod crashes into the middle of a Red Hood versus Match throw down, and Terry’s Wayne-inherited charisma is so powerful it allows him to banter his way into good graces of both villains. Jason drags them all off to his lair because every single member of the Batfam hoards orphans. Chaptered, WIP - Posted

5. DRAGON BALL

5.1. Saiyajin Pride: Alien biology has a larger impact on characterization that it does in canon. Mirai comes back to the main timeline live in sin with Videl and Gohan. Vegeta and Goku deal with some shit that comes from being the last full-blooded members of their species. Then just as things are settling down… Garlic is an idiot who thinks up a loophole in the “can’t wish people dead” rule and wishes Goku and Vegeta’s families straight out of existence and they end up in an entirely different reality. The only upside is that Vegeta finally gets to kill Frieza. Chaptered, WIP - Unposted

6. FAIRY TAIL

6.1. Flight Of Dragons: Future!Lucy misses her target and ends up landing further back in time, during the same year Natsu and the rest of the Dragon Slayer kids were brought to when they were pulled forward in time. Fairy Tail luck kicks in, and future!Lucy runs into child!Laxus as he escapes from his father after being fed the Lightning Dragon Lacrima. Laxus is handed a Prophecy and runs with it. Children have never needed Fairy Tales to tell them that Dragons exist, but they certainly help. Chaptered, WIP - Posted

6.2. My Heart Overflows: Juvia and Grey have finally started dating, but the Fairy Tail Mage Guild has some interesting traditions when it comes to proving the validity of a romantic relationship. Oneshot, Prompt fill - Posted

7. FAMILIAR OF ZERO

7.1. A Velvet Glove: Crossover with TMNT – Leonardo gets summoned to be Louise’s Familiar. Since all of his brothers are dead, Leo sees no reason not to make the most of this “lifelong bond of magic and spirit” and adopts Louise as his little sister. Halgenkia is not prepared for a Louise Francois le Blanc de la Valliere with ninja training. Henrietta is probably far too gleeful over making her best friend her Spymaster, but it’s not like anyone knows enough about what they’re doing to stop her. Reconquista gets exposed and smashed, and Wardes really should have respected his fiancée more. Chaptered, WIP - Posted

8. FINAL FANTASY VII

8.1. A Dirge of Ice and Fire: Crossover with GOT – Several members of Avalanche and the Elite Soldiers are reincarnated as the spares and bastards of Westeros’ Great Houses. Given that Rhaenys Targaryen used to be Cid Highwind, the Sack of King’s Landing goes very differently. Meta

8.2. A Feather’s Weight: Crossover with Naruto – Kakashi and Obito, along with their respective subordinates, are reincarnated in Wutai, and are thus in position to undermine a lot of Hojo’s plans simply by being themselves. Wutai still loses, but by a much smaller margin, and SHIN-RA realizes much too late that Wutai’s “concession” was a trap. Kakashi is a big shiny distraction for Sephiroth, the SOLDIERS revolt, and nobody knows who assassinated President Shinra. Chaptered, WIP - Unposted

8.3. Antiviral: Woden and Gaia conspire to create antibodies to fight off Jenova’s infection. Cid and Vincent end up bearing the brunt of this decision, get roofied by Divine Intervention, and also end up the Gaian equivalent of demonic werewolves. Also the Planet is transforming all the SOLDIERS into werewolves too, yes, even the dead ones. Chaptered, WIP - Posted

8.4. For Love Of: Cid Highwind crashes the Tiny Bronco into Lucrecia’s cave, does the metaphysical equivalent of tearing her heart out and eating it to absorb her power, and them proceeds to adopt General Sephiroth as his son because it’s not like anyone can stop him. Cid Highwind does what he wants. Sephiroth does what Mother wants. SHIN-RA soon regrets everything because Cid Highwind is a hell of a lot better at rewriting the social order than Avalanche is. 8.5. Hindsight is 20-20: CHAOS decides to rewrite time because they have a massive crush on Cid and they don’t want him to die. CHAOS fumbles the landing and Cid ends up in the body of some weird Lucrecia/Ancient-Cetra-Who-Was-Jenova’s-Host Clone and ends up giving birth to Sephiroth. Things only get worse from there. 8.6. Like it Rough: Cid likes Vincent a lot and also has a bit of a kink for scars. Cid walks in on Vincent naked, runs away to hide his raging boner, and Vincent ends up chasing Cid around the airship until he can pin his friend down in the Captain’s bunk because the demons are all drunk on the pheromones. 8.7. Names of Power: Jenova’s taint getting mixed into the Lifestream has far-reaching consequences, and Avalanche gets tapped to handle the fallout whither they like it or not. Series, WIP - Posted

8.7.1. Small Packages: The Lifestream meddles in Avalanches lives even after the Planet has been saved. There are clones and ancient powers better off left alone but it’s not like Avalanche ever gets a say in the matter. Chaptered, WIP - Posted

8.7.2. History Inverted: Jenova isn’t all the way gone and the Planet really doesn’t care if Humanity survives or not as long as the infection is burned away. Aerith shoves the spirits of Avalanche and their children into a new timeline because she doesn’t want to watch their souls get shredded. Avalanche proceeds to mosey along and wreak havoc in the way only they can manage. Chaptered, WIP - Posted

8.8. To Earn the Sky: Echidna, Mother of Monsters and Heroes, and Jenova, the Calamity From the Skies, are at war. Hojo makes a very big mistake when he uses the Blood of Echidna’s Children in his Revenant Project. Cid Highwind is a good son, and his Mother wants to meet her new Grandchildren. 9. FINAL FANTASY XV

9.1. A Light of Ice and Fire: Crossover with FFVX – Noctis, his Retinue, and the loyal members of the Kingsglaive and Crownsguard are reincarnated into Westeros. Jorah Mormont is Cor Leonis, but Cor Leonis is not Jorah Mormont, and so the Northern Forces are something to fear in Robert’s Rebellion. By the time King Robert visits Winterfell, it will be a very different Northern Kingdom that he finds there. Meta

10. GAME OF THRONES

10.1. Crossover Fixits to Help Westeros be Less Miserably Doomed: Various casts from other series end up reborn in Westeros and use knowledge from their previous lives to change the Game. Series

10.1.1. An Assemblage of Ice and Fire: Crossover with MCU – Team Iron Man focus, since Tony is reincarnated as Ned Stark. Starks are made of Iron, and Winter is coming. Tony’s genius intellect, knowledge of politics and economics, experience with magic and alternate realities, and the fact that Extremis carried over through his reincarnation and adapted to work with First Man magic means that the Stark siblings who go to the Tourney of Harrenhal are nothing like the canon versions. Rhaegar gets his Stark bride, and he proceeds to regret it for the rest of his life. Meta

10.1.2. A Balance of Ice and Fire: Crossover with SW – Qui-Gon Jinn’s three Padawan Learners and Padme (who got taken in Anakin’s place) are reincarnated as the Tyrell siblings. They proceed to follow the Will of the Force and prepare the Seven Kingdoms to win against the Long Night. Meta

10.1.3. A Code of Ice and Fire: Crossover with CG – Lelouch, his two younger siblings, and Lelouch’s most loyal followers are reincarnated into Westeros. 10.1.8. A Transformation of Ice and Fire: Crossover with TFG1 – Most of the Cybertronians who died during Unicron’s Awakening end up reincarnated as dragons (Seekers) and Direwolves (Autobots). The sapience of the animals causes significant changes to outcome of several key canon events. Meta

10.2. Singing In A Different Key: SI is reborn as Jon Snow, who then precedes to Machiavelli the fuck out of the North in preparation for the coming Long Night and also to screw over the Lannisters. Because fuckthe Lannisters. Meta

10.3. Wolf At The Door: When Ice takes the head of Eddard Stark, Valeryian magic mixes with the Blood of the First Men. It’s wild, uncontrolled, and Ned ends up as a four year old in Winterfell’s Godswood, staring at his reflection in the water. Eddara Stark, second-born child and first-born daughter of Rikard and Lyarra Stark looks back up at him. Ned, fully believing that this is his punishment for failing his family and best friend the first time around, decides to fix the Realm by fulfilling the Pact of Fire and Ice. The thing about being a woman is that no one ever expects you to be a threat, not even other women. The thing about being the Quiet Wolf is that everyone overlooks you until the moment your teeth sink into their throat. Concept

11. GET BACKERS

11.1. Holy Days of Yore: Various celebration themed fic that explore Ban’s backstory as the “With Queen’s Grandson” and bring a bit more of that old black magic into the Get Backer’s lifestyle. Series

11.1.1. Lupercalia: Ban gets a magic matchmaker box in the mail and everyone wears their heart on their sleeve for Valentine’s Day. Oneshot - Posted

11.1.2. Oeastre: Ban gets roped into being the master of ceremonies for Maria’s coven and Easter gets interesting. (Everyone makes like bunnies.) Oneshot - Posted

12. GIRL GENIUS

12.1. The Other Side of the River: One of the Jagermonsters manages to catch wind of Lucrecia’s plans and absconds with Klaus Barry during the confusion caused by the first explosion. This understandably causes some disruption in everyones plans when KB and his nanny run into Agatha during her time with the Circus. WIP - Unposted

12.2. Threefold Path: Agatha, Gil, and Tarvek get their brains booted back in time during the si vales valeo and decided to run away and join the circus until they’re old enough to take over the world properly. WIP - Unposted

13. GUNDAM WING

13.1. Mistakes and Misdemeanors: Heero was on blockers for the entire war due to a series of implants, which did no favours to his mental health. When the implants run out Heero gets run over by a hormone train and absolutely nobody knows how to handle that. Chaptered, WIP – Posted (Under Revision)

14. HARRY POTTER

14.1. Black As His Name: Sirius Back lives! Because the Veil dumps his mind-and-soul into the empty body of his younger self in a world where Walburga Black lost it on her eldest son much earlier in life and Sirius was tortured until he was left brain-dead. Arcturus Black is pissed off over the treatment of one of his Heirs and since Sirius’ magic is still intact, names Sirius the Heir to House Black and proceeds to hold the Heirship over everybody’s heads for spite for as long as Sirius continues to “live”. Everyone in the Black Family is very surprised when the annual shaming ritual disguised as Sirius’ birthday party is crashed. By none other than the birthday boy himself. Sirius rolls with it and becomes a True Black in the most Marauder manner possible. WIP - Unposted

14.2. Black Hunt Under Bloody Skies: Crossover with KHR – Regulus and Sirius both end up dumped into KHR because Death owes them a favour on its Master’s behalf. Things start to get weird after the Arcobaleno curse is broken. Regulus is actually Skull and Sirius is his Sky and they confuse the entire Mafia so much. WIP - Unposted

15. HOMESTUCK

15.1. A Jump To The Left Behind: Post game reality has all the races living in a Galactic Republic, and the Troll Ancestors and Human Guardians all need to team up in order to solve the mystery of the planetoid-sized meteor that just barreled into the middle of their busiest spacelane because their names are written all over it. In the process of exploring the meteor they accidently wake up the Players and Sprites. Chaos ensues. Concept

15.2. Pandora’s Final Gift: A mermaid AU where a Deep Old One gives Eridan (and only Eridan) the memories of his Game Player Self as a lark. Eridan hits the level cap for his current reality, freaks out, saves Sollux’s life, and then absconds as far away from the center of the Empire as he can get. Concept

16. INU YASHA

16.1. Hunter’s Moon: The standard “Demon Mating Season” idea that draws on the infectious nature of demon energy in the Sengoku Jidai and runs with it. Everyone over the age of eighteen gets some. Kagome gets to go home and take a nap. Chaptered, WIP – Posted (Under Revision)

16.2. Cry Wolf: Playing straight with the crack concept that Inuyasha and Kouga were betrothed as children. Kagome isn’t in the picture because she got yeeted back to her own time when the Shikon no Tama got purified. Chaptered, WIP – Posted (Under Revision)

Burning Salt Water: Crossover with OP – Xanxus gets dumped onto the Oro Jackson during the Pirate King’s last voyage when Nono’s Zero Point goes sideways and he ends up adopted by Rouge and Roger while he heals. After the execution Xanxus ends up raising the ASL trio to take over the Pirate Throne and Ace sets the Moby Dick on fire when Whitebeard kidnaps him. Meta, WIP - Unposted

17.4. Cat’s Paws: Uri has seen enough Time Travel bullshit to know how it works, and so when Hayato gets himself killed she grabs his soul and flings herself backwards in time because fuck the timeline this is her human and he’s not allowed to abandon her again. The other Box Animals think it’s a great idea and do the same with their humans, and this results in the kind of alternate timeline that gives Byakuran a headache. In other words, Uri creates a timeline where Flame Actives are a lot more Alien than they used to be and now everyone thinks Youkai and other myths are real. Chapters, WIP - Posted

17.5. Fire Shall Waken: All of Nono’s sons are still alive when the Cradle Affair happens and it results in the entire 10th Generation gathering up their Harmonies, rolling Xanxus into a blanket burrito, and taking off to Japan under assumed names where they proceed to spend the next eight years coddling Tsuna and being spoiled rotten by Nana in return. 17.6. Gremlins Della Varia: Mammon’s experiments with the Curse have had some odd side effects on the Varia. It all comes out during the Ring Battles and the other Arcobaleno are Judging You, Viper. Oneshot, Prompt Fill - Posted

17.7. Karma, and the Repercussions Thereof: Crossover with Naruto. Legendary Ninja from the Elemental Countries get reincarnated into KHR and proceed to adopt all the Magic Rainbow Fire Children. Nono and Iemitsu suffer. Series, WIP

17.7.1. Karmic Balance: Kakashi and Obito are ninja married from the very start because of metaphysical bonding and some minor haunting during their last lives. Between Ninshu Shinobi needing to be in Clans and Flame Actives needing to be in Harmonies it does not take long before the child stealing begins. Gokudera Kakashi is the best wife and Dokuro Obito repents, repeatedly and often, while also having the time of his second life. Tsuna loves his Kakashi-sensei and wants to be just like him when he grows up. Chaptered, WIP - Posted

17.7.2. Karmic Justice: Madara and his brothers are reborn as Fon’s nephews and do not take kindly to the Arcobaleno curse being put on one of their relatives. The Hibari Clan proceeds to start hunting for the Man in the Iron Man en mass. Madara and his brothers hit Namimori during Nono’s visit and witness the sealing of Tsunayoshi. They don’t take well to this either. Things go worse for Tsuna than they do in canon and Madara hunts down Tobirama because he needs the resurrection to be done perfectly. Tsuna loves his Madara-shishou and wants to be just like him when he grows up. Oneshot - Posted

17.7.2.1. Karmic Justice – Hubris: Madara comes across Xanxus in the ice while investigating the Vongola and despite Xanxus being a bit older than the usual target for child stealing decides to steal him anyway. After resurrecting Tsuna, Madara and Tobirama’s next project is defrosting Xanxus. Concept

17.7.2.2. Karmic Justice – Providence: Madara finds Xanxus on the streets while hunting in Italy for the Man in the Iron Mask. Wrath Flame calls to Wrath Flame and Madara instantly adopts the delightfully savage little boy. Then Namimori happens, and Tsuna’s seal gets him temporarily killed, and Xanxus reaches 100-year-vengance-plot levels of overprotective big brother. WIP - Unposted

17.8. Music of the Spheres: Crossover with SM – Post Stars Usagi and Post Vongola Inheritance Tsuna are cousins who meet for the first time ever only after the Vongola’s enemies kidnap Ikkuko and Shingo. Usagi gets taken into protective custody by her Mafia relatives without being given the chance to say she doesn’t need it. Usagi then proceeds to seduce all the women, charm all the men, and accidently throw Iemitsu out the nearest window every time he’s in the same room she is. Chaptered, WIP - Posted

17.8.1. MotS - Celestial Chorus: Chibiusa’s arrival has Usagi dragging her family to Namimori to prove that Chibiusa isn’t their cousin and things get wildly out of hand. Meta

17.8.2. MotS - Sing In Exaltation: The Shingo from The Sharp Knife Of A Short Life hears the name of his ‘cousin in Namimori’ and immediately begins to meddle. Meta

17.9. Overlooking the Obvious: They say that to truly know someone you need to walk a mile in their shoes. The adage is proven true rather dramatically when a misappropriated Possession Bullet ends up switching Gokudera and Hibari into each other’s bodies. Oneshot, Prompt Fill - Posted

17.10. Reach For The Sky: Kamen Rider Sora and his team are the protectors of Namimori against the invasion of Youma from the dark dimension. Reborn shows up to tutor the last remaining Vongola Heir and ends up in the middle of a longstanding battle against the Forces of Evil. 17.11. When the Nightingale Sings: Sky Flames are Dragons, and when a Sky is Sealed they turn into True Dragons once said Seal breaks. Tsuna has the Best Treasures Ever. Reborn is confused but willing to roll with it. Hayato needs to do all the research. Drabbles, Prompt Fill - Posted

17.12. Where the Sky Meets the Sea: Crossover with OP – The ASL Trio are reborn as Sawada Tsunayoshi’s younger brothers, and the Will of D means they remember everything. Sawada Iemitsu might once have been Akagami no Shanks and despite lacking his memories knows better than to keep secrets from his wife. (Iemitsu does keep a lot of secrets from Nono, such as the fact that he has more than one son.) Iemitsu redirects Xanxus’ attention to the Family traitors, Nono never meets Tsuna, and nobody gets sealed. Then Reborn shows up, and everything is now on fire. Oneshot, Prompt Fill - Posted

18.1. The Needs Of Our Natures: Wolfram decides to prove exactly how much his mother’s son he really is and seduces Yuuri. Wolfram seduces Yuuri like it’s his job. (Yuuri likes it.) WIP - Unposted

19. MARVEL

19.2. Iron Laced: Crossover with TMNT – Maria Carbonell was actually Oroku Karai in disguise because she was on vacation from being a member of the Council of Shadows. Karai and all the Turtles accessed magic ninja dragon powers when they took over the Council and Karai-as-Maria passed that down to Tony. So Tony is actually a dragon and an encounter with the Enchantress leaves him locked in his dragon form. WIP - Unposted

19.3. Miles To Go: Post-MCU Civil War almost-Time Travel where Tony grieves so hard he sends an Extremis injector capsule to the year before the Winter Soldier murdered his parents. Said capsule lands in front of a wasted 15-year-old Tony in the aftermath of a frat party. Cue the face hugger scene. Tony gets an Extremis upgrade about 30 years ahead of schedule and it’s the only reason he survives the memory download without his brain turning into mush. WIP - Unposted

19.4. Perception: Instead of killing Scott in X3, Dark Phoenix instead fixes the brain damage that prevented him from controlling his optic blasts and then shunts him trough time an space. Said S-class secret distracts Obito on his way to ambush Kushina’s labour and several different chase scenes take place. Ichigo and Uryuu are very confused when their “cousin” Kazuma shows up to introduce his new bride to the family. Koenma is just really pissed off by all the paperwork he needs to deal with while cleaning up his father’s mismanaged pet project. Chaptered WIP - Unposted

A Man of His Word

Day 23 of Ichiruki month 2020

Summary:

The transition from boy to man comes with inner peace. It comes with the realization that he doesn't have anything to prove, that a blade should only ever be drawn to maim and kill; and that Rukia will go to the ends of the world to hunt him down and end him herself if he was dumb enough to get himself killed.

"Now get going! I promised my wife I'll be home by the end of the week so get your asses on the move!"

It is universally acknowledged that Captain Ichigo Kurosaki of the Fifth Division, Hero of Soul Society is a powerhouse. He is the man who made the impossible possible, the feats he accomplished the stuff of legends.

Just ask anyone and they will gladly recount the most romantic story ever to grace the pristine city- retold and re-enacted for the public for as many times as the sun rose over the arches and columns of Seireitei and it still never gets old— the story of him rescuing the Kuchiki Princess from the Blades of Soukyoku or the time he spearheaded a rescue mission with his nakama from the Living World to infiltrate the depths of Hueco Mundo to save one of their own, defying official orders in favour of doing what's right.

The nobles will tell you with a haughty sniff that it's because of his bloodline. The noble Shiba ancestry renders him practically blue-blooded and his esteemed bloodline shines through and through even if one's father is disgraced and the rest of his clan equally uncouth.

The folks from the streets of Rukongai will tell you that he is a true man of the people for he champions causes dear to them. For the better of Soul Society, he led and spurred social reformations- speaking out against archaic customs, bullying and strong-arming indifferent nobles to his cause, championing better living conditions for all by way of schools, orphanages, clinics and roads being built.

Such a man to inspire such loyalty and following among so divided a crowd, to be so brave and bold in leading these reforms!

It's a no brainer then that he would be the ideal person to lead missions, especially dangerous missions into uncharted and unfamiliar territories for weeks or even months on end.

Think again.

Because Ichigo absolutely loathes being on missions.

Anyone who knows the man personally or have had the misfortune to go on such a mission with him will tell you in fact the man loathes doing anything that forces him to spend more than a day away from his wife.

Final year academy students shuffled nervously, sword arms shaking as they gathered behind the orange-haired Captain, one with a scowl so fierce that it seemed to stop Hollows dead in their tracks, paralysed them with fear before the man finished up the job with his twin blades.

Glaring at them, he barked harshly, "Don't just stand there like sitting ducks! Do you want to be eaten?"

They gulped as a collective before remembering their years of lessons and turned to face the horde, their zanpakutos drawn and gleaming.

It was their first foray into the Living World- a week-long field exercise that will count towards their final grade prior to graduation. Their academy instructor has reassured them with a beaming smile that it's all part of the new school curriculum. If nothing else, the experience would make sure that they're well prepared when they come face-to-face with Hollows on their own and made sure they blended in and behaved accordingly during missions, following procedures and obeying the direct chain of command once they're in the Living World.

The instructor even congratulated them on their luck as their accompanying seated officer for this particular mission was the one and only Captain Kurosaki.

Just imagine!

For the duration of this short excursion, they'd have the actual privilege of fighting alongside the legendary man, working under him even!

Well, thought Jun as she narrowly sidestepped a pincer from the disgusting-looking bug Hollow she was up against; it sure started off that way. For the first ten minutes or so every academy student was certainly gawking; stunned by the appearance of the tall, broad-shouldered man. His hair, they whispered, it really is as bright as the Sun; and the twin blades- they gasped; the only other person who's ever had the sheer gifted prowess is that of the Soutaichou!

The excited chatter was loud as expected. These bright-eyed Shinigamis-in-training would be lying if they told you that they didn't dream of being given the opportunity of working under such an esteemed man.

Jun would begrudgingly admit that she was one of those moon-eyed students, taken in for a split second by the legends woven of the Captain. She's one of the orphans- the first few actually who were taken in by the Kurosaki-Kuchiki Orphanage and she looked to him with as much respect and hero worship as one would expect.

That was until the man unceremoniously dropped them straight into the battle grounds. A dozen or so ugly Hollows snarling and growling away, hungry at the prospect of being fed. The infamous Captain then ordered them without a hint of preamble or motivating speech to fend for themselves or risk being Hollow-chow for the day.

The impact was jarring.

Seriously, she bit the insides of her cheek as she parried, what was she thinking? Wasn't there a Living World saying that says to never meet your heroes for they're sure to disappoint you?

Disheartened by reality, she tried her best, kido spells coming to mind as easily as breathing. Adrenaline pumped through her body, blocking and parrying as best as she could with her zanpakuto, trying desperately not to get herself killed.

Then, she slipped up.

In hindsight, it was the inevitable given the amount of thoughts swimming through her head- the fear that came with the self-doubt and she missed the killing blow.

She cursed.

The Hollow had no such qualms and made full use of the missed opening to dive in for the kill. Jun stumbled, upsetting her balance and the Hollow's gaping mouth loomed close to her face, enough for her to feel the putrid stench from its breath. She shut her eyes tight as she awaited the crush from the monster's jaw but the pain never came.

Instead what she heard was the annoyed voice of her acting Captain as he pushed her aside, overwhelming the Hollow's impending attack with sheer brute strength and in one clean slice purified the monster.

She fell flat on her ass on the ground, eyes wide in disbelief as she regarded her saviour. If he hadn't swoop in, she'd have been in a world of pain, possibly even made mincemeat and dinner by the Hollow.

"T-Thank yo-"

"You were distracted. That's your first lesson. Don't let fear cripple you. You can't give into fear during a fight! Now pick up that sword of yours and try again! I won't be there to save you every time."

With those parting words, the man shunpoed away; possibly to help out another classmate of hers, leaving Jun to her thoughts. She drew a shaky breath, getting up on her feet- the blade burning in her hands.

This time, she didn't miss; cleaving the Hollow's mask in two as she pivoted and that she realized, that was her first real encounter with the Captain Kurosaki.

Five days into her training, Jun has learnt enough to not be intimidated by the ferocity of Captain Kurosaki's scowl and know the kindness hidden deep and I mean- way deep behind his gruffness.

She was sincere and humble as she asked him for advice.

The Captain snorted, "Here's one: try not to get killed."

Jun pressed on undeterred and after much badgering, the taciturn man finally relented, addressing the group huddled around the burning fire. It's the closest they ever got to a motivation speech from their acting Captain.

"Alright, listen up 'cause I'm only going to say this once: it's meaningless to just fight. You fight to win! But even that's not enough. I'm not just fighting to win. I fight because I have to win. My advice to you is to find out what's your reason to win and hold true to it."

"Just like that?"

He rolled his eyes, mumbling something that sounded like amateurs under his breath.

"Believe me. It's much harder than it sounds. It takes courage to really dig deep and to know yourself. Finding out is actually half the battle. Once you figure it out, things will fall into place- bit by bit. I can't promise you that it'll be easy. But I can assure you that it can be done."

"What is your reason then?"

Someone in their group was feeling bold only to be mercilessly shot down by a snappish reply.

"That's none of your business!"

The excursion was eye-opening- expectations were met properly and Jun was given a real taste of what her future job role would entail.

By the end of the week, her connection and bond with her zanpakuto was stronger than ever, her confidence of her own abilities skyrocketed and rang in every strike that she parried.

She had also never felt so tired and bruised in her life. Her muscles ached and she needed a hot bath. Her bed, she never thought she'd say this but she missed her tiny quarters in the student dormitories.

Jun turned the corner, cutting through the bushes and passing through the backyard of some of the other barracks, eager to go to the Fourth Division to be cleared for her return back to her dorms.

She suddenly stopped dead in her tracks, making sure she's safely hidden in the shadows as she watched on. Realization dawned as she realized that she must be passing through the training grounds of the Thirteenth Division.

There was hardly another soul in sight and Jun had much trouble reconciling the fiercely scowling Captain she had served for the better part of a week with that of the smiling man standing less than six feet away.

Captain Rukia Kurosaki-Kuchiki, Captain of the Thirteenth Division, adopted sister of Captain Byakuya Kuchiki is a woman of short stature, demure and polite by all accounts but widely regarded as one of the most dangerous Captains among the ranks of Gotei 13. Powerful in her own rights, her Bankai is the stuff of nightmares, revenge is a dish best served cold as is absolute death striking her opponents down at the absolute zero temperature, her attacks so pretty that it's almost an honour to be cut down by her.

The other important thing to note is that she has the powerful Captain Ichigo Kurosaki at her beck and call. It's no secret that he adores her and will move heaven and earth if she so desires. People like to say that she's a lucky woman- the other half of a power couple, ushering the era of peace with her husband by her side.

In their ignorance, they forgot much of her humble beginnings, making light of her efforts; but Jun remembered. She remembered the kindness of the lady when she visited them in the orphanage. Those hands that pressed treats to her were just as callused as that of an experienced swordsman.

Watching them now, their Captain haori softly billowing in the winds. The woman's smile radiant and gentle; Captain Kurosaki's notorious scowl gone as he pressed the hand of the woman reverently to his cheeks, bending over to kiss her on her crown as the other hand rested tentatively on the barely-there baby bump. Of course, there were rumours that the two Captains were expecting their third. It's a girl this time, if rumours were true- Jun believed they were.

They were comfortable in the silence, soft in their gazes and warm in the arms of each other. Two- no, three children later, and they're still so obviously enamoured by the presence of each other and Jun realized, they were not lucky.

It's not the right word.

They were blessed- blessed to have each other, to have found each other and be able to hold on. That's the truth that they know deep within their souls as they brushed their lips chastely against each other.

She wisely crept away, careful not to make a noise lest the two became aware of her existence and thought that she was spying on them. She flashed back to the conversation by the fire.

It's clear to see what or rather who Captain Kurosaki's reason to fight and win at all costs, is.

FEATURE: Where Are They Now? How Far Our Favorite Long-Running Anime Characters Have Come

In many of our favorite long-running anime series, the main protagonists go through some immense change. Whether they’re driven by their lofty ambitions or a never-ending quest, they’ve each had their own humble beginnings and have since come so far on their own journeys. We’re continually inspired by these heroes, whether their stories are concluded, ongoing, or simply timeless.

In honor of some classic anime heroes, we’re taking a look back on their illustrious careers as ninja, pirates, Hunters, and Z-fighters alike. Let’s see just how far our favorite anime characters have come.

Naruto Uzumaki (Naruto)

Where they started: As a social outcast and the host of a powerful beast, Naruto Uzumaki long dreamt of being the Hokage. His penchant for mischief masked a deep-seated longing for companionship, but he was stalwart in his dreams and was on his way to forming many strong friendships. What he lacked in knowledge and experience he made up for with plenty of grit and attitude as he learned and mastered advanced-level Jutsu at a young age. But even with one or two elite techniques under his belt, his journey to becoming Hokage would be far from easy.

Where they are now: After burying the hatchet with his closest friend and rival and saving the whole world, Naruto has long since achieved his dream, having become the seventh Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village. He’s now married to Hinata Hyuuga with two children, a daughter named Himawari and a son named Boruto, who sets off on his own ninja adventures. He’s even reconciled with the demon living within him, who often joins Naruto in his fights to protect his village and his family. Though the focus has shifted toward his son, Naruto’s story still continues long after becoming Hokage.

Son Goku (Dragon Ball series)

Where they started: After the death of his loving adoptive grandpa, Goku lived on his own for some time with a special charm to remember him by, a Four-Star Dragon Ball. Upon learning from his new friend Bulma that his grandpa’s keepsake is part of a set of seven artifacts that can grant any wish when collected, Goku heads out on a globe-spanning journey to retrieve them all. Along the way, he meets new friends, becomes more powerful, and comes closer to the truth of his mysterious origins.

Where they are now: Among every candidate on this list, few have a history quite as large as Goku’s. While he’s still a loveable oaf who loves fighting as much as eating, he’s become a true savior after defeating incredible foes like Frieza and Kid Buu and continues to grow stronger as a fighter. From a Super Saiyan to Ultra Instinct, his increasing power level knows no bounds. As of the interdimensional Tournament of Power in Dragon Ball Super, he’s currently one of the strongest fighters in 12 dimensions. And to this day, he’s always looking to become even stronger than he was yesterday.

Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates (One Piece)

Where they started: As the Great Pirate Era kicked off, the rubbery pirate Monkey D. Luffy embarks on his ambitious dream of becoming the next Pirate King, following in the footsteps of Red-Haired Shanks, a renowned pirate in his own right. The first time we meet Luffy is when he emerges from a barrel stowing away on an enemy ship while trying to set sail himself. With little to his name but a simple boat and a tiny ragtag pirate crew, they each enter into a brave new world of untold dangers in order to fulfill their own dreams. Luffy met each of his crewmates in dire straits, but each of their ambitions led them toward each other to form something great.

Where they are now: As of today, the Straw Hats' quest to find the One Piece and achieve their goals still rages on. But so much has changed since then. The ship is bigger, the crew is stronger, and their captain’s power over Haki and mastery over his rubbery body has propelled him and the Straw Hats to infamy. The bounty on Luffy’s head alone is one of the largest in the world, and wherever the crew goes, revolutions and overthrown dictatorships follow. Currently, they find themselves on the Feudal Japanese island of Wano. Having recently broken out of prison, Luffy is gathering up his splintered crew to face off against Kaido, one of the Four Pirate Emperors residing over the isolated nation as a tyrant.

Gon Freecss (Hunter x Hunter)

Where they started: As an aspiring Hunter, Gon is unlike many of his fellow applicants in the treacherous and life-threatening Hunter’s Exam. When he begins his journey, he doesn’t aspire to be a noble hero for hire or to acquire riches, but he simply seeks to understand how being a Hunter is so fascinating that his own father would leave him for it. Having grown up on an island, his physical prowess and senses are well above average, and the Hunter’s Exam was the perfect place to put them to the test.

Where they are now: As of the final episode of the anime, Gon was able to meet up with his father. By the time he finally caught up with Ging, he'd undergone rigorous Nen training and faced all sorts of arduous and terrible trials. From the Phantom Troupe to the game world of Greed Island and the horror of the Chimera Ants, Gon experienced what it was like to be a Hunter from several different perspectives. Having overcome severe hardships and strife, he was able to hear directly from his father what being a Hunter meant to him, and why he was willing to sacrifice so much in order to do it.

Ichigo Kurosaki (Bleach)

Where they started: An infamous high school delinquent, Ichigo was born with the power to see the ghosts that frequently haunt his town. When his strange ability allows him to encounter Soul Reaper Rukia Kuchiki, he learned of the existence of Hollows — malevolent spirits who attack the living and the dead alike. After Rukia was wounded defending Ichigo from one such monster, she transferred her powers over to him and made him into a Substitute Soul Reaper. Using his newfound and considerably immense power, he was charged with fighting Hollows in Rukia’s stead.

Where they are now: Ichigo’s reputation throughout Bleach stretches far and wide. He rescued Rukia from execution, uncovered Sosuke Aizen’s conspiracy, became a Vizard in order to defeat the Arrancars, and even went so far as to sacrifice all of his Soul Reaper abilities in order to defeat Aizen.

When last we left him, Ichigo took on Xcution, a group of human outcasts with the spiritual power of Fullbring. Through these newfound abilities, Ichigo regained his Soul Reaper powers and was able to continue his work as a Substitute Soul Reaper. With the final arc of the manga receiving an adaptation in the future, the true conclusion to Ichigo’s story is nearly in sight. In the meantime, the world of Bleach continues in its spiritual successor, Burn the Witch, further expanding the universe of Soul Society.

Whether they've achieved their dreams, are still going strong, or their adventures are neverending, there's no doubt that so much has changed about our favorite anime heroes! Some changes have been for the better while others have resulted in life-altering traumas. Nevertheless, they've each gotten stronger and wiser after all these years. We'll certainly never stop cheering for them!

Rukia's voice echoed so far. We were at the table with the party guests. All of our friends were there, including Ichigo, Inoue, Ishida and Sado who came from the human world. Rukia was sitting next to me.

- I think it would be a problem for you to open Senkaimon several times. We'd better all go together. - commented Ichigo.

Everyone agreed that it would be better to go back together. After explaining to Matsumoto san (who had already drank a little too much) that they couldn't stay any longer because they had to work the next day, Ichigo and the others headed for the exit, after I asked one of the soldiers from 6th division to open the gate for them.

I was not yet well situated. I don't know if it was alcohol ... But I went to the gate to take the guys so they could return to the human world. Then I went back to the party.

Everyone seemed to have a great time. The party was really incredible. It was not like the engagement dinner the captain organized. I preferred to go ahead and book a stylish bar that is my favorite and avoid the discomfort that was with the nobles' restaurant. I also couldn't let him do it anymore. Now it was my turn ... He did everything for her ... From now on I will have to reach those expectations ... take care of everything. Take care of her. That's what the captain said to me. But he didn't have to say that. I would do it anyway.

- Hey, Abarai! - It was Hisagi senpai screaming. - To the newlyweds! Kanpai!

Everyone raised their drinks and toasted! They were all very happy. It was good to see that moment after so much that we went through. CHAPTER II

We had finally arrived at the house that would now be my future home. But I couldn't get in.

Why?

Do I really deserve it?

I was just a soul wandering the streets of Inuzuri. Alone. Without a roof to sleep below. Without food. Until I met Renji and our friends. So I was no longer alone. I had a family, even though I still had no home or food. Stealing to survive ... Until only the two of us are left. And to escape all of that we chose to be shinigami. So I was adopted by the Kuchiki Family. And I lost Renji too. I started to have a home and food. I could have everything, but I felt I could do nothing. I was noble, but I felt the poorest of all. Even though I was in a family, I no longer had a family. There was no one. I became a shinigami, joined Gotei and met my captain, my division, Kaien dono ... I met Ichigo. And when I was close to losing everything, I got friends and got my family back.

Is that really it?

I have friends, I have my brother ... I have a home ... and I have ... him. I have my family again.

I don't know it was alcohol ... But I was a little stunned. I could only look at the gates.

- Nothing. - I answered the question he had asked. But at that very moment I felt that “nothing” run down my face.

- Nothing? - He came back towards me.

I couldn't say. I didn't want him to think that I didn't want to be here. He did not insist on the question. He held out his hand to me and said:

CHAPTER III

We were finally in. She had cried, but didn't want to say why. I did not ask. Maybe she was just scared. No ... Fear is something she does not feel easily. Maybe she just thought it wasn't the life she deserved, or something. This craze for thinking you are not good enough for anything.

I wanted her to understand that it was not just luck that she achieved. I could only take her. I reached out my hand and called her in.

It wasn't as big as the Kuchiki manor, but it could still be considered a mansion. Well, in our positions, two lieutenants were able to acquire one of that size. I chose to live in the 6th division for convenience all the time, but I could have bought one a long time ago.

We reached the corridor that led to the sliding doors of the rooms.

- Look. Here is a beautiful garden. It is not like that of the Kuchiki, but it still has a beautiful view.

- It's beautiful.

She looked at the fountain in the middle of the garden. The moonlight reflected on the water that fell on the bamboo. I approached her and broke the silence a little.

- Look what I brought!

I had carried a bottle of party sake with me.

- Renji! But why did you bring it with you?

- Relax, so ... come, let's have a drink.

And I pulled her into the room that faces the garden. There were two futons on it on the floor and everything looked well organized. Our belongings. It was our room. I sat on the futon and she sat on another.

- We will have a very beautiful view, won't we?

- Yes!

And we stayed there drinking and talking for a long time. About what we thought would be going on at Sereitei, about the fun things of the this night, about things from the past, friends ...

A little silence and the croaking of the frogs was the only sound through the night.

- Hey, Renji ... Is that really what it will be?

- What?

We had taken all the sake. I was slightly drunk and she looked like she hadn't even drunk, although I think she had drunk a lot more than me.

or. well. most of them.

1. Does your insert have a name that’s different from yours? Does the name reflect their character in any way, or is it just because it sounds nice? How did you come up with it?

I’ve talked about this before, but Masato’s name is very specifically spelled 眞人, (the kanji for “real” and “human,” respectively.) I sorta knew from the start that I wanted to give them a name with 人 in it; something deliberately ironic, because Mayuri is a dick who loves a bad joke.

(It’s a particularly cruel joke in the context of Masato’s original backstory, where they were meant to be an experiment in what happens when you let someone think they’re a real person and then strip that assumption away. But I wanted to give them sick powers, so that was shunted to the sidelines.)

2. Does your insert have a very strong relationship with a f/o, maybe more than one?

I talk about Szayel enough on here so I’m gonna talk about Nnoitra instead. In my version of canon, his mask is cracked open by Kenpachi, reducing him to a state similar to Nel’s. (That’s karmic retribution, bitch!) Suffice to say he’s pretty upset about this, and proceeds to skulk about Las Noches refusing to let anyone see him until Szayel gets back to fix things.

Masato meets him by chance when their powers are still sealed up post-jailbreak (this one’s seal 2: electric boogaloo) and is all like, what’s with this sassy lost pre-teen? Eventually they become sparring partners, since while Nnoitra’s regaining his powers, Masato is the only person in Las Noches capable of fighting at such a low level; and once he’s got them back, they can go hog-wild without worrying about fucking him up too much. Their relationship doesn’t have the same...belligerent romantic tension that Masato and Szayel’s does, but Nnoitra is fond of Masato, even if he’s horrible at admitting it. They’re friends and they suck!

More abt. Nnoitra actually bc I love this song: nerfing him puts him in a position where he’s forced to rely on other people, and despite feeling totally worthless and vulnerable and having to undergo the humiliation of being protected, there’s also the experience of being told, “So what if you don’t have any power? That doesn’t make me respect you any less.” So he has the opportunity to build his self-worth back up based on something less subjective, and now he can actually interact with other people on the same level, which is great news for Tesla, who gets to strengthen his spine and be truly up front about his feelings, because Nnoitra no longer has any power over him.

I think, for relationships like these, finding a level playing field is super important! And I’ve always been fascinated by characters who develop in opposition to one another and eventually meet in the middle. Masato and Szayel are also that way, in that they round out some of his edges, and he sharpens some of theirs, and the actual feelings proper don’t start developing until a ways in, and they’re not even admitted until post-canon, because in order to even consider that sort of relationship, the two of them have to come to respect each other first. Enemies-to-lovers is a fucking ART.

3. Who in their canon are they closest to?

Kurosaki fam and by extension, Ichigo’s friends. Masato has commissioned at least one custom jacket from Uryu. Also Arrancar Squad and my friend Percy’s insert Juro, who’s a creepy little goth weirdo and a visored.

4. Does your insert have a backstory? Tell us about it! How does their backstory, if any, define who they are?

Masato is a mod-soul based off of Mayuri’s quincy research. They’re designed to passively absorb reishi until at max capacity (which is quite large), at which point they can be forcefully “detonated,” destroying them in the process and causing a significant amount of damage to the surrounding area as the stored reishi is released. As a weapon, they’re highly experimental—meant as a last resort rather than something put to regular use.

Mayuri dumped them in the human world, where their reishi absorption wouldn’t negatively impact the Seireitei, and planned to let them simmer there for about ten years. There’s a seal incorporated into their gigai that not only blocks them from accessing the reishi inside of them, but prevents any outside force (such as hollows) from sensing it.

Once they become aware of what they are, Masato gets big anxious about anything that implies they’re not a real person. I’d love to salvage Kon’s original personality from before he was relegated to pervy comic relief because I think there’s the potential for some interesting interactions there.

5. Does your insert have any magical talents or otherwise special abilities?

Passive reishi absorption, and after Uruhara modifies their gigai so they can access their power reserves, they can vent it from their body and use the force to blast themselves around or add more power to their blows. Their body is about as resilient as a normal human’s, but the only way they can truly “die” is if their soul candy is crushed, which means that injuries that would normally be fatal are just excruciatingly painful. This definitely isn’t just an excuse for me to fuck them up beyond all belief.

Due to Szayel’s tinkering, they eventually end up as what’s effectively an artificial Quincy.

6. Do they fight? What’s their weapon of choice? What’s the motivation for them to fight, or to stay OUT of a fight?

They prefer not to fight if they can avoid it, but if shit gets real then they won’t hesitate, bitch. They’re reasonably proficient with a blade after several years of kendo training, and like to bring a practice sword into dangerous situations. It’s not going to do much good against the likes of shinigami or hollows, but it makes them feel more secure, and it’s a good misdirection tactic.

Due to the whole “functionally unkillable” thing, they’re also far more likely to take risks in battle, and have a tendency to rush in without thinking when one of their comrades is hurt.

7. What kind of clothing style do they like? What would they never be caught dead wearing?

It’s all cropped jackets and harem pants up in this bitch. I drew them in that sort of outfit once and now it’s all I give them. They don’t particularly care for their arrancar clothes, but it makes them less conspicuous and also, Szayel insisted on it. Can’t have your prized experiment running around looking like some sort of ragamuffin, after all. I keep meaning to write something where they visit Sastre for a fitting, because what good is having other arrancar OCs if I don’t do anything with them?

8. How do they fit into their canon world?

A side character who tags along with the main cast but ultimately doesn’t impact events too much. They have their own wholly separate plot going for them and it involves self-actualization and kissing arrancar.

9. Their favorite foods? Colors? Activities? What do they enjoy in life?

Kendo, gardening, bike rides through the countryside.

11. How easy is it to make your insert angry? Sad? How easy is it to twist their emotions into negative things?

Masato’s actually pretty difficult to rile up, unless you’re pushing some Very Specific buttons (personhood is the big one), at which point they become incredibly easy to mess with. Szayel is...uncomfortably good at making them upset.

13. What are your insert’s goals?

Up to a certain point, they were happy to live a normal life and protect the people around them when called for. Then they wind up back in Mayuri’s lab and proceed to jailbreak Szayelaporro, retreat to Hueco Mundo, and strike a deal with him in order to gain more power and get mutual revenge on Mayuri.

Post-canon...they start coming to terms with the fact that their body will never age and grow like a normal human’s, and that if/when they die, their soul will effectively be destroyed, and they decide, hey, fuck that shit, actually, and do a bunch of crazy science until they’ve got that shit sorted out (ultimately becoming like Nemu, if not something that improves on her design).

14. Does your insert have any family relations?

Isshin was the one who found them shortly after they were dumped on Earth, and kept them around for a number of reasons (the majority of which involved his Soul Reaper Senses tingling). So Masato’s got what’s effectively an adoptive dad and three younger siblings, who they dote on and bully interchangeably (and whose last name they may or may not have borrowed) (Isshin insisted on it, actually, since it’d make the documentation easier). They have temporary solidarity with Yuzu over not being able to see spirits.

Mayuri is....arguably family but also like, fuck that. Masato does consider Nemu to be something like a sister, though, and feels particularly protective of her the more they interact. They have just as much a desire to help Nemu escape Mayuri’s influence as they do themselves.

15. Does your insert have any enemies? What’s that dynamic like? Why are they enemies? Did they ever get along in the past? Is patching up differences out of the question for the future?

Fuck Mayuri me and my homies all hate Mayuri. I shouldn’t really need to explain this one. He treats Masato solely as an experiment and tool for his use. Unlike with Nemu, the fact that Masato is developing on their own is more of an inconvenience than anything, and before they broke out with Szayel, Mayuri was fully intending to wipe their memories and start over from square one. There is some good news, however, which is that Masato does get their revenge and uses their shiny new Quincy powers to seal up Mayuri’s reishi and get him kicked out of the captain’s seat.

Szayel starts off as an enemy, since you can’t really have an enemies-to-lovers plot without one. He’s done some pretty atrocious things to Masato, but he treats them significantly more like a person than Mayuri ever did. Masato has very little respect for him, and the only reason they start working with him to begin with is because he represents a means to an end. Of course, the more time they spend together, the more tolerant they become of each other...among other things.

[ love letter ] for your muse to give my muse a love letter they wrote for them

Never did Renji imagine that one day, he’d be writing a love letter. In his mind, they were cheesy and corny, and these things were better said in person than rather on paper. But Rukia had proposed that they exchange letters, and the thought of receiving one from Rukia got him excited. To think that he’d have a physical piece of paper in his hand that he would be able to visit time and over again if he so desired.

Rukia, I suck at writing love letters. So you’re going to have to excuse me if this one sucks. Where do I even start? We met each other as children, and it’s been easily more than 70 years since then. You were like a hurricane that blew into my world, unexpected and definitely a force to be reckoned with. I didn’t like you at first, you seemed to be so much better at everything than I was. You were charming, a natural leader and you seemed to unite our broken group. Those years that I spent with you and our friends are dear to me; easily one of my most precious memories. I too was not immune to your charms, and not too long, I found myself entranced by your existence. But we soon realized that those years wouldn’t last, and we were forced to come face to face with the harsh reality of living in the Rukongai. With our group slowly growing smaller and smaller, forced to watch our friends die without us having the power to do anything, we vowed to become shinigami. I still remember that day clearly; on that tree, where we promised each other to become strong so we could protect those dear to us.

How ironic it is that I was the first to break my promise even though I was the one who suggested it. What I thought was my best intentions to protect you only pushed you away from me. When you announced that the Kuchiki family wanted to adopt you, I was genuinely happy for you. You always wanted a family, somewhere to fit in. This was a chance for you to have that - you would be provided for and be pampered as a noble lady. I was stupid and didn’t realize what the Kuchiki name would come with, didn’t realize that you didn’t care about some noble name. That all you wanted was to have me close to you. Foolishly I thrust you towards what I thought was a loving home, only for you to suffer.

Only when it was finalized did I realize what a horrible thing I’d done. But I was a coward, too scared to face my fears. Too scared of Byakuya to face him head on, too scared to admit that I was even scared to begin with. And so I let 50 years go just like that; doing my best to move up the ranks. Because that was the only way I thought that I would be worthy to talk to you again. Then the day came when I was finally promoted to vice captain! But never did I think that I would never be able to tell you as you were sent to the Living World on a mission.

The next time I heard about you, you were to be executed. I was angry, mostly at myself for failing to protect you once more. Breaking my promise that I’d already broken so many times. Trying to hold onto a tiny sliver of hope, I went to the Living World. Only to see you weak and powerless, protecting Ichigo. To think you had given up your powers - something we had promised so hard to work on together. I was jealous that you’d give it all up to a human boy you’d just met. But the thing that weighed most on my mind most was that you would be killed before I even got to tell you my feelings.

I failed to rescue you from execution, despite all the years I had trained to achieve bankai. I steeled myself and went against up Byakuya, who easily defeated me. So when news came that Ichigo was defeating captain left and right, I knew that he was the one who would be able to save you. And at that moment when I caught you in my arms once again, I vowed to never let go.

When you held on tight to me, I could feel my heart breaking at how many times I’d fail you. As a friend, as a fellow shinigami, but most importantly as someone who loves you. So let this letter be my proof of love for you.

Kuchiki Rukia, I love you. I vow to always protect you. To always be there. To be your strength and rock to lean when you are weak and need someone to lean on. Let me be the one be the light in your life, the one to guide you through the dark times. As you have been for me. When times got tough in life, and I doubted myself, you were the one who kept me going. Encouraging me to by myself, to be the best version of myself. Even in those 50 years that we didn’t speak, you were the sole motivation for me to keep living.

I realize I have been a fool, and I can’t guarantee that I won’t be in the future. But now that I have you back in my life once more, I know that my future will just be that much brighter. For you are the only one for me. I love you, Kuchiki Rukia.

Magic trick (3/3) (IchiRuki)

Here’s another silly story that I hope you guys will enjoy. Please, feel free to make me know if you enjoyed it! Summary: How things get out of hand when a certain shinigami tries to reproduce a magic trick. In one word? Bunnies. Way too many of them. "Let's start again from the beginning," the high school student sighed, already tired by what was going to come. "You watched TV, saw the classic hat-trick, so naturally you decided to do the same."

She nodded shyly, not daring to look at him directly. Ichigo's voice was calm. Way too calm. And Renji - that bastard!, had abandoned her, claiming he had to go shopping at the grocery store.

She'd definitely make him pay the price of his cowardice later.

"So you went to Urahara's," he continued, slumping on his bed. "He gave you a super-magic-wand and a super-magic-spell... A super-magic-spell bearing a striking resemblance to an old anime..."

"Oh, I didn't know that!"

Her amethyst eyes widened and her mouth took the shape of a perfect o. She liked how the spell sounded; who knows, maybe she could ask Ichigo once he'll have calm down if she could watch the show?

Part of Ichigo couldn't help but find this reaction adorable - well, almost adorable. If the shinigami was starting to use her puppy-eyes on him, again, his anger wasn't going to last long.

But he couldn't crack, otherwise this closet squatter would end up transforming his room into a real animal shelter for sure!

"Let's move on, you then searched through my stuff, but as you couldn't find anything else, you stole my favorite cap."

Rukia nodded.

"You made several tests in my bedroom - including one in front of me. "But it was only after an epic failure that you decided to return to Soul Society, hoping for some kind of miracle..."

"Well, I suppose we can..-" the brunette tried to defend herself and scratched her cheek, embarrassed.

"Then, of course, you told Byakuya everything," he cut her off, "but, because of an emergency, you had to leave everything behind. Just in front of him."

She frowned. She really didn't like where the discussion was going. This miserable beggar wouldn't possibly dare insinuating something like that, would he?

"And then, finally, when you came back, they were all here. But there was no exhibit."

"Exhibit?"

"So, what did the suspect tell you in his defense?"

That's it. The word was out.

"Suspect?," Rukia looked absolutely outraged. "Peasant! How dare you speak of Nii-sama like that?! H-He.."

The young woman seemed to hesitate for a moment, weighing the pros and cons.

"He said they were for me."

The substitute shinigami didn't like the way her cheeks reddened and her eyes lighten up.

He really didn't.

Not that he was jealous - no.

What a stupid idea.

"... And that I had to bring them here, in Karakura," Rukia continued quickly, taking advantage of her friend's sudden rigidity. "You see, the Seireitei's atmosphere is different from here, we can't control it for sure. Shinigamis are not affected by that, that's true, but it might not be the same for tiny little bunnies!"

The brunette's pout almost moved him - almost.

After all, she hadn't meant any harm and could never have guessed that things would eventually get that out of hand...

Ichigo scratched the back of his head. Was he being too harsh on her?

"Well, in short, we're counting on you to take care of them!" Renji's voice, he had just reappeared from god knows where, sent him back to reality.

"I'll come visit as often as I can, I promise!" the brunette added with a bright smile, "I trust you, Ichigo... So don't disappoint me!"

A vein suddenly popped on his temple. This damn actress...

"Hey," he roared, "do you seriously think you're in a position to ask me anything?! There's no way I'm taking care of all those rabbits! And even if I wanted to, I couldn't keep them. There's way too many of them!"

The two vice captains looked at each other in silence. He was right, they knew it.

"But then... what are we going to do with them?"

"Well," Ichigo, caught off guard, hesitated for a moment. "Why don't we simply send back to the sender?"

He didn't like being taken for a fool. And by selling this thing to Rukia, Urahara had indirectly swindled him, too.

"Ahah... Sorry, Kurosaki-kun~"

Surprised, the three of them turned around, coming face to face with Kisuke Urahara, who had been standing by the window for quite some time now. As usual, a green-striped bob was hiding the top of his face as well as - without a shadow of a doubt - a very amused look. Ichigo was about to rush towards him when he was cut off by another soliloquy.

"As stipulated in the contract signed with miss Kuchiki, I cannot to take these charming little creatures back," Kisuke, savoring this long-awaited moment, was talking in the most hypocritical tone he could. "Oh, judging by your face, I assume that you weren't aware of that condition Miss Kuchiki... I'm truly sorry."

Urahara made sure to hide his smile with his fan. Renji, still in chock, seemed to have remained at the "since when is he here?" stage, while Ichigo and Rukia, for once unanimous, looked at the blond man with anger.

"However, I'll have to contradict what your brother told you : these bunnies will have no problem acclimating to the Seireitei's aura. Well, business calls. I look forward to seeing you again in my humble shop!"

Kisuke was about to go when a something caught his attention.

"Oh, how touching! Kurosaki kun, it seems that a rabbit has already adopted you!"

Ichigo couldn't even answer him - Urahara had disappeared. What a damn crook!

Oh.

A smile suddenly appeared on his face. For once, he was almost happy of the merchant's visit.

"Good, problem's solved! They're all going back to Byakuya! You'll be able to see them everyday."

"FOUL!," Rukia had just broken her friends's eardrums. "There's no way I can impose on Nii-sama like that! And what if he contracts an allergy to their fur?!"

Ichigo's indulgence - as well as the whiff of affection - towards the brunette vanished immediately.

So, the midget didn't give a damn about what could happen to him?!

And, even worse than that, she was chanting it openly.

"Rukia, you have five minutes to take ALL of them back and disappear, or I swear to god I'll do it myself!"

In shock, she opened and closed her mouth, like a fish out of water.

Those poor creatures were so adorable...

What a heartless monster!

And to think that a cute bunny was rubbing on his leg, demanding his attention... He didn't deserve any of them.

The brunette shook her head - now was not the time to fight back! She would have plenty opportunities for revenge in the future : first, she had to ensure her charming little rodents' safety.

Ichigo sighed with relief when he saw Rukia heading towards the closet. She took her cuties into her arms, whispering sweet words to them - if looks could kill, the Kurosaki wouldn't have survived that night.

The orange-haired student rolled his eyes to heaven and was about to leave his room when he felt a heavy weight on his leg.

That's when he noticed it.

Finally.

It was a medium-sized bunny. It looked angora : it's fluffy ginger coat was making him look more like a giant ball of fur than a rodent. Its' little black eyes blinked in surprise as Ichigo put his hand on his head.

It was so freaking soft.

Ichigo's fingers moved down his muzzle and slowly brushed against the animal's thin whiskers.

And then - suddenly, he screamed in pain.

That damn bastard had just bitten him with full teeth. He could have swear he saw a sadistic smile on the bunny's face before it turned its' back and started to gambol happily on his bed.

"Oh, I see you've met Ichigo!"

Rukia was watching him and, judging by her bright smile, hadn't missed anything from the scene. Wait - 'Ichigo?' It took him a few minutes to realize.

"Ichigo?," he looked at her, surprised. "You named that rabbit after me?"

"Yes, Renji wanted to give them an exotic name - well, in fact he's the one who named almost all of them. But for this one, it was Nii sama's idea!"

"Huh? Byakuya did that?"

The brunette shrugged and returned to the closet, leaving the student in the greatest disbelief. It was finally Renji who put an end to the mystery:

"'The endless arrogance as well as the total lack of respect shown by this rabbit reminds me of Kurosaki Ichigo's idiotic and reckless character', that's what captain said."

That's how Byakuya Kuchiki had won the war.

So, as I come into the homestretch on the 90k word fanfic I am working on, I wanted to do a rambling appreciation post for all my fav long form (~100k) Renji/Rukia fanfics. JFC, I almost died writing this thing, these people are blessings unto the earth.

I had to go far afield to find all of these, as you will see, but they are worth it.

The Roots of Heaven by paperiuni is just astonishingly good. It’s an Ichigo/Renji/Rukia OT3. Rukia is MIA in the war, and after Ichigo gets a hint of her spirit ribbon, he and Renji roadtrip their way into another dimension after her. I cannot emphasize enough how beautifully crafted this is, it is basically amazing. It was written before Bleach ended, so some of the shinigami/zanpakutou worldbuilding isn’t canon, it’s possibly better (I am thinking particularly of the part where Renji loses his sword in a bet, and then re-imprints Zabimaru onto a new sword, which is just friggin’ cool) There is also an amazing fight scene where Rukia and Renji have to fight Hollow Ichigo, and Rukia kisses Renji and then hops on his bankai and zooms off into battle, and this is Peak RenRuki Romance in my book, nothing will ever beat this scene. Uhhhh, fair warning: there’s a threesome at the end, because of course there is.

A Thin Red Line by A Fine Piece is really a ByaHisa story, but it’s also an excellent character study on Rukia and Renji. It’s a retelling of all of Bleach, starting with Rukia’s adoption, where Hisana never died and it’s just brilliant and beautifully written. Thanks to Hisana, Rukia and Renji maintain their friendship after Rukia’s adoption, and in some ways, it prevents them from ever really connecting the way they do in the canon storyline. There are a lot of really interesting variations that I don’t want to spoil, but my favorite aspect of this fic is that Renji becomes extremely devoted to Hisana (as in, he brings her someone’s head) and it’s perfect. Appropos of noting, during the Rukia’s Execution storyline, Ukitake makes Renji schlep the Shihoin shield all around the Seireitei, and I think about that a lot and that’s the source of why Ukitake is so fond of Renji in all my fanfics. It’s not finished and I doubt it ever will be-- I don’t know if she intended for R&R to ever get together or not, but their relationship has enough tension in it that you can definitely convince yourself that it’s just a slow burn. Oh, also, if I ever start talking about Hisana as though she has some sort of canon personality, I’ve just forgotten, again, that this fic isn’t canon.

Become a Ghost by @hardlyfatal is a goddamn delight and has been a huge influence on me. So it is, of all things, a Byakuya/Orihime romance. Orihime dies of appendicitis and goes to Soul Society and has some good times and falls in love with Byakuya and then they fight Aizen. Now, I generally don’t read Byakuya ships because I just cannot drum up any empathy for Byakuya being in love. My brain can’t do it. He’s such a butt. But somehow, this crackship works, it’s really sweet. I cannot explain it. Maybe because Orihime is perfect and any thinking being should fall in love with her? Perhaps. Anyway, Renji and Rukia are also in it, and they are adorbs together for sure, but also there’s a lot of really cute friendship-with-Orihime stuff and I love love love it. It is also a masterclass in Byakuya dragging Renji, which we all know is my favorite thing in the world.

Aside: This fanfic changed my life. So for starters, Keigo dies in the first line of the fanfic and then is basically never mentioned again. This is the most baller move in all of Bleach fanfic. So many plot turns of this story are just...extremely fanfiction. And what I mean by that is that they are ridiculous, but I, the reader, am rubbing my hands together and shoving popcorn in my mouth. I literally cackle whenever I read this thing. Anyway, I was reading this for, like the third time, and it occurred to me that, I, too, could just write whatever I wanted and that someone else on the internet might get a kick of it, even if it’s a little ridiculous or silly. It’s just fanfic, and fanfic is great. So, if you have ever enjoyed something I wrote where Renji and Rukia are texting emoji to each other, or going to the Seireitei Waffle House, or getting drunk and making out, you have this story to thank.

Many Parts, by HipsterL. This is another full-Bleach retelling, where Rukia and Ichigo are swapped. This sort of an entire sub-genre, but what sets this one apart in my mind is delinquent Karakura teen Fullbringer Renji. I love him so much. I cannot get enough of him or his tattooed single mom or his awkward friendship with Ishida (who is basically the same as usual). Also, Rukia is being raised by single dad Byakuya who is very obviously a former captain who noped out on Soul Society, Isshin-style. Renji is just, like, always over their house? And Byakuya feeds him? I am so in love with this whole concept. Rukia and Renji have a very cute, slow-burn teen romance, and it’s all very sweet. Ongoing.

Shadows Surround Us by Meglee06. So this perhaps not the most skillfully written fanfic in the world, but I want to give the author a lot of credit for actually writing a longform RenRuki story. This is literally the purest one I can think of. The plot is okay, there’s a mysterious bad guy and they fight him. That’s not the important part. The important part is that Renji cannot manage to keep his shirt on in this story. He must spend 40% of this fanfic walking around shirtless in situations where he should honestly be wearing a shirt, and I respect that so much.

I think there may be more on Ye Olde Fanfiction.net, but I refuse to make a login and I can’t find anything on there. Second aside: I have an unreasonable grudge against fanfiction.net because I remember when it came out. I, a teen, was lovingly maintaining a hand-htmled Geocities page of personally curated fanfics (I was in a satellite X-Men fandom at the time). We called it running an archive in those days, and we were all horrified by the concept but also... it was... so easy to upload things? And then there were 10k Harry Potter fanfics on it. I’m sure there’s, like, 1M now, I’m scared to check. The moral of this story, friends, is that I am old as balls.

I am sure there are others out there; like most people, there are some ships I do not care for, and I think you can forgive me for not jumping into 100k words worth of that. If I’ve missed any, feel free to rec, particularly if RenRuki is the main ship.

Do people like fanfic recs? I can do more of these in the future for other topics, if there’s interest. I, uh, kinda read a lot of fanfic.

BLEACH JET Artbook Talk Vol 1 - Translation (Q1-15)

This section exhibits new information never before explored in the original work through an assembly of questions which address several characters that appear in "BLEACH" as well as its grand scale world building.

In preparation of conducting this lengthy interview, we invited fans from all over the world to tell us what they "want Tite Kubo sensei to talk about", 51 questions, which were carefully selected from among a pool of over 1000 submissions sent in every language, were divided into 5 categories and discussed.

Q.1: At the end of volume 1, it is stated in his character introduction that "William Shakespeare" is a person Ichigo respects, but is there any particular reason why?

Kubo: Well, as for a particular reason… (laughs). I simply like him that's all. However, if you were to ask me whether I was an avid reader of his works to the point of calling them my favourites, I'd say that isn't really the case, it's more of an appreciation for the dialogue rather than a fondness of the tale itself, there's many pieces of dialogue I like. —— J: Have you ever put them to use within 'BLEACH'? Kubo: I believe I have not used them, but there are many lines that have stuck with me for a long time. —— J: What sort of lines? Kubo: Let's see, I suppose it was lines like the one in "The Merchant of Venice". One of the first lines I remember well is "Beshrew your eyes, they have o'erlooked me and divided me. One half of me is yours, the other half yours", that sort of thing…. —— J: I'm sure there are aspects of 'BLEACH' where the mood of this dialogue may be somewhat applicable. Kubo: The first time around you're made to think “maybe it's like this?” then after it's flipped around with dialogue that has an opposite meaning. The sort of impression that is left on you with the same words repeating itself a second time is one that takes great skill.

—— J: I see. This is information you're revealing for this first time is it not? Kubo: That's right. Though, I think it probably goes without saying.

—— J: But when they hear something like that, I think the audience will also try reading Shakespeare. They may come to think something like “he habitually adopts that sort of dialogue based viewpoint”, details like this is exciting news for readers.

Q.2: In the novel "WE DO knot ALWAYS LOVE YOU", there is a description which mentions that Uryū is at medical school and Ichigo is also said to be attending university, but does Ichigo study a general university course?

Kubo: Yes he does. Though I didn't specifically depict it within the story, based on the setup, I feel he would be studying English literature.

—— J: There's speculation among other questions too that perhaps Ichigo had gone on to study medicine.

Kubo: Of course. I felt it's probably expected that he would become a doctor. But I considered "how would it be if Uryū and Ichigo both became doctors?" I said perhaps it's better to let Ichigo take his own path.

—— J: So no one will be taking over the Kurosaki clinic?

Kubo: It won't be changing hands. Their old man is still there! He runs it by himself (laughs).

—— J: Maybe someday Yuzu and Karin will?

Kubo: It's possible that they might inherit the clinic in the future.

—— J: That will rapidly expand the horizons of our imagination!

Q.3: When did Ichigo and Orihime start dating? Or from which point in time did Ichigo start to like Orihime romantically in the first place? I was elated to see that these two got married, so I wish to extend my gratitude for any details around this topic!

Kubo: With regard to these two, they were about to start a dating relationship when Ichigo was a university student, they formally started dating after they both became working adults. However, given that bleach is not a romance manga, the romance is drawn purely as a supplementary component. That's why I won't go into too much detail about other characters too, nevertheless, it makes me happy if I can catch the reader's attention through its portrayal.

—— J: Do you hope that readers will form their own visions through the spatial senses that was portrayed between fellow characters?

Kubo: Yes, exactly. I think making speculations about that aspect is probably the fun part.

Q.4: After "Shiba Isshin" became "Kurosaki Isshin", did he ever reunite with Hitsugaya and Rangiku?

Kubo: Since becoming "Kurosaki Isshin", Hitsugaya and co. happened to catch sight of him when they arrived with the advance party. Then, it was established within the framework of the original story that the pair recognise him in that moment. It's because he had noticed Isshin's presence, that Hitsugaya came to the World of the Living together with other squad members in the final stages of the Lost Substitute Shinigami arc, as well as then uttering the line "I'm glad that guy [Ichigo] was the next substitute shinigami."

—— J: Did both sides harbour a somewhat 'nostalgic' sentiment at the time?

Kubo: I'd say that must have been the case. I mean, they did come to Ichigo's home after all (laughs).

—— J: Is it also possible they caught sight of him while hiding in Ichigo's room?

Kubo: They must have caught sight of him somewhere. They would absolutely notice him.

—— J: Did they intentionally avoid stepping foot into his life?

Kubo: That's right. Because it is the case that Isshin was going about his daily life whilst concealing his true identity, Hitsugaya and Rangiku are the type to think "it's better not to touch upon the matter", and also because Isshin himself was no longer captain, for him to make contact like "it's me, your former captain!", He'd be one to believe that it would do the pair more harm than good.

—— J: I'm going to get a complex array of feelings when rereading the story after learning that they were feigning ignorance with each other.

Kubo: If I remember correctly, there were proposals seeking to bring them into contact one time in an anime side story or something like that, but I hadn't drawn it in the original work, until he reveals his true identity Isshin isn't the type to initiate contact to begin with, so I had a discussion and ultimately told them to abandon the idea.

Q.5: What was Rukia's family name before she was adopted into the Kuchiki clan?

Kubo: During her time in Rukongai, she didn't have a family name!

Q.6: Could you please tell us about Kazui and Ichika's profiles and their theme songs? Would you also be able to tell us if there was anything you paid special attention to, or were particular about when you were still in the process of creating these two?

Kubo: Their Zanpakutōs are a secret. There isn't a particular aspect I paid extra attention to when creating the two, but if I had to choose I'd say it was blending elements of both parents in a balanced manner. —— J: You mean a balance appearance-wise? Kubo: Both in terms of outward appearance and inner character, I considered things like "which elements out of the two parents would be more interesting to amplify?" I flipped around the personalities and genders for both. —— J: Kazui certainly does seem to take after Orihime, there's that easygoing aura about him. Kubo: At a glance his hair colour is that of Ichigo's, but his facial features come from Orihime. —— J: And Ichika seems to take after Renji. So then, does that mean the opposite pattern was also a possibility? Kubo: That's correct. If they had a girl, in all likelihood she would have a personality resembling Ichigo with hair that resembles Orihime. —— J: A boy that takes after Rukia too? I reckon that in itself is something we'd like to catch a little glimpse of. Kubo: The opposite would have been interesting too. However, with regard to Ichika, I had decided upon making her a certain way from the very beginning. In the first animated movie "Memories of Nobody" the female character Senna is introduced, but this girl herself was originally designed with the mental image of Renji and Rukia's child in mind. She is depicted as an ordinary human girl within the story, however, during the design stage, my intention was to design her as the child of Rukia and Renji from a parallel universe. Her colouring is different from Ichika's though. —— J: When you compare the two they certainly do look similar. Kubo: Senna has Rukia's hair colour. Ichika was made with this sort of design as the base. —— J: When Ichika was first introduced, people did note that there was a similar feel to Senna. Kubo: They were originally based on the same concept after all. —— J: Amazing, that's a real inside story.

Q.7: I would like to enquire about the sort of ideas you envisioned around the battle scene between Zaraki and Unohana.

Kubo: It's one of those scenes I've been planning to draw for a long time. That Unohana was the first Kenpachi is something I decided from very early days, I was always thinking “for how long should I keep it a secret?” and “how do I handle its reveal?”

—— J: Did you decide on it from the point of her first appearance?

Kubo: That is so. It was decided from the very onset that the design of Unohana's hairstyle, was also for the purpose of concealing the scar on her chest.

—— J: In the captains' introductions from "KaraBuri+", Unohana was said to have the same combat efficiency as Genryūsai, so at the time I thought "how the hell is this person so strong!" I said to myself "there's definitely something more to this, I wonder what it is?"

Kubo: Just to be on the safe side, when her hair is tied back in my drawings, I never had her facing towards the audience. I would make her turn to show her side profile or have her back turned, and that way the scar remained hidden.

Q.8: How was the idea to deck Kurotsuchi Mayuri out with ultra-distinct makeup and accessories born? Was there something that inspired you to do so?

Kubo: Originally Mayuri's face makeup came to be designed in such a way because I liked Marilyn Manson back in those days.

—— J: Ah~! I see!

Kubo: However, I didn't want to do it exactly the same, so I altered the effect of the makeup. That was all I needed to change the impression by a considerable amount.

—— J: That makes a lot of sense!

Kubo: Since Marylin Manson's makeup is unique, if I had left it untouched, people would end up saying "it's literally Manson!" (Laughs)

—— J: Mayuri had the most variation in costume did he not?

Kubo: That's right. It's fun getting to do that (laughs). I think it was probably around the time of the last chapter, but I couldn't make up my mind about his design, so I got my niece to chose for me. When my niece was still one or two years old, I was making a new series of designs at the family home, I placed them side by side in front my niece and got her to pick one out saying "which one do you like?"

—— J: (Laughs). The other contenders for Mayuri's attire at the time, are now recorded in the booklet [included with JET.]

Kubo: That is probably the only time I was so troubled by his design.

Q.9: I started reading bleach, and when I realised it, I had already become of marriageable age. Come to think of it, what's the marriage situation like for the old-timers among the captains?

Kubo: Now that you mention it, I've never given it any thought.

—— J: That Byakuya was forthright about being married among other things, and for a cool/good-looking character of that sort found in manga to actually be married, it's surprisingly a rare sight.

Kubo: I guess I do get the feeling that they could all be married, but that sort of ambiance doesn't seem to apply to the captains all too much…. Even so, I'd feel sorry if someone like Genryūsai, for instance, wasn't married (laughs).

—— J: Would their children come into contact with Kazui and Ichika?

Kubo: The thought of perhaps a son belonging to Genryūsai sounds like a rather interesting topic to explore. I reckon he'd be quite formidable.

Q.10: Who is the lieutenant of squad 13 which is captained by Rukia ten years later? I wonder if by some chance Renji had transferred from squad 6 to squad 13?

Kubo: Since there's an impression that the appointment of a vice captain is on hold, I suppose you could say it's Sentarō and Kiyone. It's just that I have not yet depicted that scenario, what am I to do… whether one likes it or not, If some other person was to become vice captain out of the blue, it would be a lonely affair, and I think it's best that those two individuals undertake the responsibility for Ukitake's sake as well as Rukia's.

—— J: It seems that by successfully inheriting the final wishes of the deceased Kaien and Ukitake, the pair are fully dedicated to assisting Rukia.

Q.11: I wonder if the Arrancars continue to do battle as unchanged as before, even after ten years?

Kubo: Hollows in Hueco Mundo cannot survive unless they continue eating, that being the case I think they're still locked in a struggle for existence, but… what about a power struggle you ask? Harribel has become leader you know.

—— J: Given that they're being governed for now, do you feel there's not as much brutality as before?

Kubo: They are gradually being made to come under control, I mean perhaps by some chance they are in the process of constructing a system whereby Hollows are able to constantly absorb soul matter.

—— J: In Ryōgo Narita's novels, Harribel and Nelliel have both become leading figures.

Kubo: It's great that those two are leaders! And both of them are voluptuous too (laughs)!

—— J: Hueco Mundo will become awfully peaceful now won't it (laughs).

Q.12: It seems Kubo sensei takes such a liking to Mayuri to the point of even cosplaying him, but if there is anything regarding the Shinigami Research and Development Institute which didn't appear through the setup in the original story, I would like for sensei to reveal it for us. I believe they're fairly involved in events that occur behind the scenes in Soul Society which were brought to light in the novels.

Kubo: They perform a variety of tasks in the background, I wonder if "performing tasks" answers your question (laughs).

—— J: Are they still secretly conducting human experimentation or something?

Kubo: Mayuri doesn't consider human experimentation a bad thing to begin with.

—— J: Some people also are also eager to learn "why Mayuri was imprisoned" when Urahara entered the Nest of Maggots.

Kubo: Now that were on the subject, It seems I didn't get to address that area.

—— J: He was the only individual to be kept behind a sturdy cage. Could this mean for example, that he was arrested on the assumption that he should be locked up in order to prevent the spread of any further harm due to his carrying out one too many danger fueled experiments.

Kubo: I won't go into detail here, but it's something like that. Mayuri isn't the type that goes "I will overthrow Soul Society!" after all.

—— J: It appears to be nothing more than the result of going too far with his intellectual curiosity.

Kubo: There's no criteria as to whether or not Mayuri is "going overboard". He has a sense of values when it comes to 'good and evil', but his standards of 'good and evil' differ dramatically from others anyway….

—— J: I get the impression that if it weren't for Akon, squad 12 would be quite capable of proceeding in a risky direction.

Kubo: You're right about that. Akon has just about become the perfect stopping mechanism.

—— J: That must come with great difficulty right? (Laughs)

Kubo: There's a lovable side to Akon when he's taking on trouble.

Q.13: Are the birthdays belonging to the Arrancars and Shinigami of "BLEACH" also the anniversary of the day they passed away as human beings?

Kubo: I puzzled over this a fair amount. Should it be the moment in time they were born, or the moment they died…? Since pure-blooded Shinigami came to be born as a Shinigami from Shinigami parents to begin with, their case differs from that of humans. Conversely, Rukongai citizens were born as humans and still retain their memories when they go to Rukongai…. And that was how the stage was set for Shibata wasn't it?

—— J: Yes it's like that.

Kubo: Their memories will gradually fade, that's how it seems.

—— J: It would feel rather odd if Shibata's birthday was the anniversary of his death despite the fact that he surely retains his memories.

Kubo: Thus, the birthdays of pure Shinigami or Arrancar indicate the point at which they came into being. As for Rukongai citizens, their birthdays indicate the day they were born as a human being.

Q.14: I'm curious about the economic activities of the Shinigami! I would like to ask if you have any such details regarding the sort of purchases they made after receiving a pay rise and so on. I'd especially like to know how Soifon put her starting salary to use.

Kubo: I think her initial salary was used to purchase something for Yoruichi (laughs).

—— J: After she became a captain, what would her affluence have looked like when speaking in terms of human society.

Kubo: The captains' chambers that are supplied is like a home in the first place, and the salary itself is also a fine amount of income. If we're speaking in terms of the Yen, a captain's initial salary is around ¥2,000,000 per month, from there a raise is issued through each fiscal year and a performance based merit system.

—— J: It was noted that Renji also has something of a hobby collecting high-end goggles.

Kubo: There's a general impression among vice captains that they don't earn very much, but their salaries still start from ¥700,000 per month. Hisagi for instance, undertakes responsibilities such as editor-in-chief of “Seireitei Communication”, so he also earns a salary from that. It seems he uses up a considerable amount of his money.

—— J: On buying things like guitars huh.

Kubo: In any case, when you become a captain, you even get an executive allowance and thus a steep increase in earnings.

—— J: Do ordinary squad members take home enough to support their families?

Kubo: It's tough because a new recruit earns just under ¥200,000, however, once they begin to climb the ranks little by little and earn a seated position, they can afford to do so.

Q.15: What did you consider the most challenging aspect while in the process of constructing the story of "BLEACH"?

Kubo: The most challenging aspect, was the deadlines I had every week! I had no difficulties with the drawing phase however.

Translator’s notes:

Ichika does indeed refer to her dad as “Tōsama” (All those Japanese fan arts became true it seems.)

In case my translation isn’t clear enough, Kubo isn’t saying Sentarō and Kiyone are the vice captains of Squad 13, but rather they handle the vice captain duties. And even with Kiyone as squad 4 vice captain, we know it’s possible to undertake duties from other squads, in WDkALY Nanao was able to handle squad 8 vice captain duties in addition to her own because Okikiba takes a share of squad 1′s vc duties. With Sentarō taking a share, Kiyone should be able to manage the load from squad 13 (she seemed pretty good at paperwork in WDkALY... if she has sugary stuff!)

Crossover and Fusion Prompts, pt. 3

· After escaping his father, Barty Crouch Jr attempts to summon and bind a spirit of death and make it lead him to his master. The summoning works, the rest doesn’t; Captain Juushirou Ukitake and Vice-captain Rukia Kuchiki are less than impressed at being stranded in the world of Harry Potter for the foreseeable future. At least they can probably find a way to occupy their time until they find a way back…

· Set in the world of Leviathan, with the cast of Naruto representing the Darwinists and the cast of Bleach representing the Clankers. Powers from reality hopping? Meh. They would have SUCH a big FU to Soul Society and the Central 46. I also'd love to see how they react to Isshin, and being super overprotective of all the kids.

· Ichigo and/or Kisuke is dropped into the world of Naruto, sees the shitshow that is the Hyuuga family, and decides to take Hinata under his wing and simultaneously beat some sense into Hiashi

· Clint Barton Knows Everyone including other people named Hawkeye. A mission gone wrong suddenly goes right as backup arrives in the form of yet another Sharpshooter and her right hand flirt. I mean flame. I mean Boss.

· Can I suggest Tobirama and Inuyasha [the one from the beginning of the series, I swear they broke him later on] in a world where hanyou blood is a rare but highly sought out item for blood rituals? (and if, /if/, you can toss in Shiori I think I'll die happily)

· Tortall/The Circle Opens Series - Kel/Daja where Kel dosent realize that the Winding circle and the nations associated with them are not commonly interacted with in the rest of Tortall and her frustration at trying to find someone, anyone, who knows/travels to the area so she can send Daja a letter

· I'd like to see maybe a follow up snippet of that Shuuhei/Shisui you wrote? To see how having a Shinigami in the mix has helped settle things like Tobito and Kaguya down. Something to do with Yahiko's/Rin's spirit that's chained to Konan/Nagato or Obito since s/he didn't want to leave them? Maybe Kensei shows up with Kisuke and Ichigo since Shuuhei just randomly disappeared. Or, you know, just something sweet after everything's over with the two of them being cute because emotions.

· Tortall/HP - Diane Sarrasi meets Newt Scamander when someone kidnaps Kitten in an attempt to make a potion that will give them the power of the gods. Or steals a stormwing for the same purpose.

· Harry potter and naruto crossover please where the two strategist, Shikamaru and Ron fall in love over attempts to teach the other their favored strategy game

· Naruto and One Piece crossover where no one knows what to make of the solid fire clone pirate named Ace who crash landed on their doorstep half dead. Ace on the other hand is having the time of his life confusing people, and Genma just wants to help and enjoy the chaos.

· Crossova prompt. Naruto + Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood Minato/Roy Mustang. Soulmates AU: first words they hear you speak. After a messed up hashiran jump leaves him stranded at the right time to save Hughes's life from Envy. Minato finds the soulmate he's been looking for. Roy just thinks hes the prettiest damn thing hes ever seen. (Smut requested but optional of course)

· Bleach/Naruto? Maybe they destroy the Hogyoku and it explodes or something and Starrk ends up in the Narutoverse WAY before the series starts? Maybe with the Inuzuka or the Hatake and becomes their 'kami' or something. Protects and teaches them. Takes a super long nap only to be awoken by Sakumo/Kakashi in their time of need. Gotta admit, Starrk raising Kakashi would be so freaking adorable, w/ or w/o Sakumo. Any pairings really, pre slash or gen is fine! I just want Starrk being a cute BA.

· Saiyuki/bleach promt Son goku gets kidnapped by a weird guy in white called aizen and taken to Hueco Mundo were he meets a equally kidnapped girl orihime. Sanzo is obviously pissed and Kanzeon Bosatsu teleports the rest of sanzo ikkou to goku fighting all over and then Sanzo does his praying for the living thing and Orihime brakes free from female manga character weakness and start kicking ass.

· OP FMA - Roy Mustang/Portgas D Ace. As a favor for Truth Roy ends up in the world of OP with the directive of stop whatever process thats blocking gates but not given much more information than that. Fake devils fruits seem to be a possible reason but really it could be freaking anything. He now understands very well why Edward complains about Truth.

· Bit of an unusual one I know but if it catches your interest I would like to prompt a Silver Diamond/Naruto crossover with SD characters in Konoha. With Rakan getting mistaken as a Mokuton-user, Narushige as being related to Orochimaru (snakes and eeriely pretty), and Chigusa being... Chigusa.

· KHR/InuYahsa - Sheshomaru/Reborn, The underworld had always been an good place for Yokai to hide as not many people remember the old ways. It is always interesting to meet those who do. Its even more interesting to meet those who dont but still give the proper respect anyways

· KHR/Bleach - Reborn would really like it if this candy shop owner would stop giving him pitying looks and the other blond Shinji? he thinks his name was would stop taking so much joy in screwing with everyone's head. Thats his job damn it.

· Gaara ends up in Hueco Mundo somehow? Mysteriously still has Shukaku... Just, like, accidentally rules the desert and ends Aizen when he gets too evil to let him keep going on as he was. Has a weird Espada posse who all think he's the best thing since sliced bread, learns about the Vaizards and decides that it sounds like being a jinchuuriki and is all, sure, I'll help with that. Only everyone thinks he's like this super Arrancar/Hollow and is terrified of him and he's super confused.

· A Bleach/HP crossover with Hisagi and Akon being there on a mission to find Voldemordts horcruxes. Hisagi would love muggle studies and Akon would be either buried in the library or brewing potions.

· Kisuke/Tobirama? Tobirama dies(or was experimenting) and pops up in Kisuke's lab or something and then its all like FOR SCIENCE. Adorable Akon as a child moments where he's like oh, are you from a clan because horns and Kaguya nonsense. Also, Tobirama would be, like, so done with all the Aizen bullshit. He'd just ended one war and this little shit wants another one? No, no way. Fuck that. Kisuke, hold my lab coat.

· Shanks (the totally Uzumaki) steals away a willing younger Naruto and Naruto happily becomes the first official ninja pirate. He grows up with the crew as supportive family and gets dropped off to play with Luffy sometimes.

· Sakura/Kori - Kori is just looking for her wayward teammates. Sakura sympathizes and agrees to help. She also really, really hopes it will take them a long time to find the misplaced duo.

· An Inuyasha/Bleach crossover, no real pairing, just Kisuke Urahara trying to figure out why he, Ichigo and Yoroichi are here. Like a science thing gone wrong. Also can you imagine if he met Kagome? "How are you from modern times? How does this work? Why have I never heard of this? Demons are real? I need to take notes!"

· Naruto Bleach crossover. Any ships of you choice or gen, I don't mind. Minato summons the shinigami during the fight with Kurama and accidentally ends up with Ichigo. Further developments end up involving the rest of the Gotei too. Bonus points for Kakashi being a troll. Thank you!

· atla/fma crossover where ed and al are benders and accidentally left al's body behind when they went to the spirit realm to try to visit their mother. Now they have to get it back, which is a little hard with the avatar gone... Or so they thought anyway.

· Naruto/Harry Potter crossover please? Kakobi where they end up at Hogwarts as teenagers but they are definitely ninja, bodyguards for the students or something like that. I basically want to see the interactions between Hogwards people, who seem relatively ok with reckless endangerment of youth, and two child assasins

· Orochimaru outclassing Voldemort in every way, please.

· Mukuro activating his eye for the first time and is suddenly able to see spirits. First it's only the children who died from the experiments, but after he escapes, he encounters a pale spirit by a lake and his very... happy brother. Cue Tobirama deciding to follow these boys and make sure they don't get into trouble. It's like having a genin team again...

· Obito in Night Vale, or: The Space-Time Continuum Is On The Fritz...Again.

· The Gaang discover an unconscious Ace (op) on their travels around the Earth Kingdom, they are mistrustful at first bc of the fire, but come around. Sokka and Ace bond over being protective big brothers

· So Kurama ends up in Saiyuki; not being actual yokai but instead a sentient mass of energy the minus wave does nothing but annoy him. The merciful goddess has no idea where this guy came from but isn't he entertaining? With his sneaky and sometimes very blunt approach to the whole 'crazy wave' and how to fix the yokai affected by it. Obviously must add Sanzo to maximize entertainment.

· Okay, so Shuuhei Hisagi takes anon-planned trip in the Naruto world and comes backwith tiny murder kid Sasuke. Sasuke is raised by the ninth division and is better off than in canon. (Maybe a dead Shisui is hanging out in Soul Society too?).

· FFVII in Saiyuki - Cid and Vincent crash-land into the Sanzo-ikko, and that's cool. Cid can recognize an unlikely band of heroes when he sees one. No, the issue here is that Gyojo's getting really offended that Cid keeps aggressively forcing tea on people as an excuse to keep Vincent away from Hakkai because "those mopey-ass motherfuckers don't need more reasons to be depressed." Sanzo would like the demons to start making sense please.

· Good evening, listeners. I’ve been informed that, due to some recent technical difficulties, Night Vale Community Radio is currently being broadcast well outside its usual range. By which I mean, radios in other cities, dimensions, and times may well be picking us up. To our new listeners, should they exist: thank you for tuning in, however inadvertantly. · Naruto in Bleach - Kakashi is leading the Konoha ANBU who died in Pein's invasion in a lively game of hide-and-seek against everyone else who got hit by either the Rinnegan or the Edo Tensei up until the 4th War, which resulted in them all getting dumped into the deepest, darkest forest in the Rukongai because necromancy is against the Laws of Nature for a REASON. Someone sees the Ryoka invasion as an opportunity and things get really confusing really fast for the Shinigami.

· FMA/Star Trek Original Series Roy Mustang/James Kirk Crossover where the crew end up in Amestris and try to blend in, but in doing so draw the attention of Mustang Squad. As a result, both Roy and Kirk are constantly "accidentally" bumping into each other so that they can get the measure of each other. Except they're both men who tend to play the flirt for strategic purposes, but are totally unprepared to have it used against them. Exasperated Riza and Spock interactions would be a plus.

· FFVII in KHR - Cid ends up reborn as Enrico di Vongola and he very much approves of his Flame being Sky. Nono despairs over his magpie heir. Cid collects uncut gemstones and makes materia out of them. Then proceeds to permanently equip a mastered pre-emptive materia because he knows people are out to get him. People keep sabotaging his planes and it pisses him off. Assassinate him in person like an adult, damn it!

· Harry Potter in KHR - Sirius Black manages to use his brain when he reaches the scene at Godric's Hollow, grabs Harry and absconds to a foreign country (Italy sounds nice) only to pitch himself headfirst into a relationship with a career criminal when he uses a bit of Black magic to exorcise the vengeful ghost haunting the Vongola bloodline. Sirius had thought James was overdramatic while courting Lily, but he has nothing on Reborn.

Inu Yasha in Saiyuki - Inu Yasha stuffs one too many tree trunks down the Bone Eater's Well and the entire crew gets blasted across dimensions. The crazed demons who try to eat Kagome discover a previously unknown really aggressive food allergy. Inu Yasha is listening to the description of hanyou and being very confused by it. News of a mixed crew of demons and humans attracts attention from all corners. Sanzo wants to hit someone for his new headache.

Very very dumb Bleach AU idea where Ichigo(at full power basically soul king level) goes back in time to fix everything ends up way further back like young captain commander time, he's able to fully kill Yhwach and prevent him doing anything at all, no sleep no future quincy war, he also gets involved in making soul society...more so just vetoing anything like central 46 because nothing involving them ended well, and should make things easier and less likely for anyone to manipulate.

He travels around for a bit making sure everything settled and no other persons gonna try to take over the world before not really knowing what to do... when he next checks in on soul society gotei 13's all established and everything seems to be going well, but when he checks in on captain commander he's like 'Well we need someone in charge'

'Isn't that you old man?'

'I can't be fully in charge of all of soul society I run the gotei 13... no we need someone else to run soul society'

'...'

'...no'

Ichigo is now on the run from all the captains who are trying to get him to take over things because a) he's insanely powerful b) he's actually good and not corrupted and will actually care about people and not just the nobles c) He has common sense.

'DON'T YOU HAVE THE SOUL KING FOR THIS?'

'Ichigo I am still convinced you are the soul king'

'I'm not!'

'You haven't aged a single day in the hundreds of years i've known you and you literally bitch slapped Ywatch into oblivion, you also seem to have all the powers..ALL OF THEM'

And this goes on for centuries Ichigo tying very hard not to have to rule soul society and convince people he isn't the soul king. Only her keeps ending up doing this because he keeps ending up adopting younger versions of captains and others. (It started with the captain commander sending little Jushiro, Kyoraku and a tiny feral Unohana to stop Ichigo he just went big brother mode... he is the one person Unohana will listen to and not try to murder...well when she tries to murder him it's more a game then an actually murder attempt)

Just Ichigo who ends up being big brother to like all of Seireitei, he doesn't age at all but even when the others get older them him still totally see him as their big brother. Him always having at least one or two following him around like ducklings.

Some hollows figuring out how to evolve to arrancar naturally... Ichigo was in Hucheo mundo for a while and his weird reality breaking powers might have affected things. Shinigami are totally chill with them because all of them have seen these types of hollow powers before most grew up seeing Ichigo use them casually. (Also Unohana wants to fight them)

Well until Grimmjow shows up and him and Ichigo are fight flirting just being very weird and all of seretiei are ready to give a shovel talk. Captain meetings are them plotting 'Big brother can do way better'. Captain commander is just watching all this amused.

(None of them realize Grimmjow thought process is

'Wait if I date Kurosaki I get to fight all of them... OI KUROSAKI WE'RE DATING NOW!'

What Happens on Vacation: Crossoverwith YYH – turns out that Kurosaki Misaki was a senior ferry girl on sabbatical(which translates as living a mortal life unaware of her true nature) and shewas late returning to work due to being trapped in Grand Fishers gut. Ichigoand Uryuu are very confused when their “cousin” Kazuma shows up to introducehis new bride to the family. Koenma is just really pissed off by all the paperworkhe needs to deal with while cleaning up his father’s mismanaged pet project. WIP

3. CODEGEASS

3.1. A Code of Ice and Fire: Crossover withGOT – Lelouch, his two younger siblings, and Lelouch’s most loyal followers arereincarnated into Westeros. Lelouch proceeds to make it his lifelong mission todrive Cersei into frothing fits and strengthens the Baratheon dynasty to thepoint that even Tywin is impressed by his grandson’s machinations. Thenjust as things are settling down… Garlic is an idiot who thinks up a loopholein the “can’t wish people dead” rule and wishes Goku and Vegeta’s familiesstraight out of existence and they end up in an entirely different reality. 6. FAIRY TAIL

6.1. Flight Of Dragons: Future!Lucy missesher target and ends up landing further back in time, during the same year Natsuand the rest of the Dragon Slayer kids were brought to when they were pulledforward in time. Fairy Tail luckkicks in, and future!Lucy runs into child!Laxus as he escapes from his fatherafter being fed the Lightning Dragon Lacrima. Laxus is handed a Prophecy andruns with it. Halgenkia is not preparedfor a Louise Francois le Blanc de la Valliere with ninja training. Henrietta isprobably far too gleeful over making her best friend her Spymaster, but it’snot like anyone knows enough about what they’re doing to stop her. Kakashisuborns ROOT en masse, Obito is stupidly overpowered and homicidal but it’sokay because Kakashi is playing damsel in distress and distracting him. TheSenju and the Uchiha are all really confused by these kids, there are far toomany mistaken identities, and Konoha gets founded much earlier than in canon. Meta

22.4. Those WhoFavour Fire: Ace survives Marineford, even if only in spirit, because theGoddess of the Sea answered the prayer of another version of Ace. Waking up inthe place of his 17-year-old murdered doppelganger, Ace now has to deal withraising a 7-year-old Luffy and escaping the notice of the Marines. Oh, and hismurdered younger self is hanging around as a ghost, all the younger versions ofLuffy’s crewmates keep showing up on Ace’s boat, and Ace keeps getting trippedup over how much more horrible this world is compared to the one he came from. Pairing: Rukia Kuchiki x Centric

War has ended. Everyone deserves a little party to celebrate for the whole warriors of Seireitei who have sacrificed their lives and throw themselves out there to protect Soul Society. All the blood, sweat, and tears they all had experienced if only they would have to write their names on history books of the heroes of the world. Everyone deserves this right amount of reward.

The party was held at the Kuchiki Mansion. For some apparent reason, Byakuya did not like the idea of throwing any party after the war had just ended, at the same point he hated to see people have to make up this “big event” just to slack off. Especially to the Lieutenant of the Tenth Division who still has a lot of time to slack anywhere around that the Tenth Division Captain grew tired to his Lieutenant’s behavior. Well, that is Rangiku Matsumoto the mastermind of all parties and events.

The Men and Women Shinigami Association had debated over what the theme would be best fitted for the event, and gladly, and obviously, the Women Shinigami Association won. Seriously, it was Lieutenant Rangiku Matsumoto’s way of winning over a simple argument.

A pair of enormous amethyst boring eyes roamed every corner watching everyone in their best midnight dresses, long gowns, luxurious tuxes, and everyone just seems so glamorous tonight. She saw Orihime in her red sparkling dress that revealed her legs and caught everyone’s attention especially to the males in the banquet. Such a young girl to have such a body that every woman wanted to have a body like hers. Overall, this young beautiful girl is the trophy of the night. She also saw Yoruichi in her orange gown that perfectly defined her slender body walking her way to their seat with the dingy-shopkeeper Urahara in her arms, looking at her with such love in his eyes.

She saw Renji got teased by his friends at the Eleventh Division for wearing a tuxedo that he looked like much more of a syndicate than a man with luxury. Renji who was blushing embarrassingly while everyone was watching how loud and how they made such a scene on the dance floor. And he could feel his Captain is not happy about what they have caused to put shame on this sparkly evening.

Rukia crept an amused look on her face, almost a laugh. She was alone on the bartender’s stall, drinking her favorite apple martini.

She wore a white-tubed mermaid sheath long gown that reaches down the floor with a revealing skin at her back with a stitched snow-flake particle in the corner of the dress, and a pair of long white gloves that matches the design of her dress. She lets her hair down to its natural hairstyle. She wore a bit of make-up, not really a fan of a cakey makeover. Just a little touch of powder, a blush to enhance her pale skin, and a touch of pink lip gloss. She also wore a silver three-inched heels that Yuzu gave to her last Christmas.

Rukia averts her eyes to see a blue-haired Arrancar who have the audacity to join forces with the Shinigami after what he and his kind had done to destroy Soul Society along with Aizen.

“One Rum, and one Paloma for the lady, please.” His infamous grin never left his face as he caught Rukia staring at him. She just watched him finding a seat beside her, not saying a word. It was silent, and all they can hear is the sound of the music played on the dance floor.

“You’re a talker, aren’t you?” Grimmjow sneered, facing his body to the crowd while leaning his elbows on the bartender’s table

“Excuse me?”

“I don’t like to repeat the words I say.”

“Here are your drinks, sir. Enjoy.” The bartender said, presenting the pinkish colored Paloma and the blood redrum.

“Thanks a lot,” he said as he gave Rukia the pink drink, “Here as a peace offering and my greatest apology for punching you in the gut.”

She raised a brow, he was not being sincere at all, but she doesn’t want to leave him hanging. She just sighed and took the glass from him. They just cheered their glasses and drank it together.

“Just what are you trying to do, Grimmjow?” She was getting a bit tipsy, this was her seventh time drinking a lot of glasses of cocktails since Renji told her to wait for her at the bartender’s stall. It seems that he has forgotten about her and saw him currently drinking on another side of the table with his group of friends.

Grimmjow just smirked, he turned his body to face her. The first time when he got to invade her place is to see her flawless back that magnifies the whole place and to find out that it was the Shinigami he once fought in the World of Living and badly injured her. I was a bit surprised that it was THE shinigami I once fought, but this will leave me no choice.

“Well, I just came because you seemed alone, and is it wrong of me to be your company just for the night? I’m alone too you know, my date Nel came to be with her girlfriends, where is your date?”

She also followed his position facing her figure to him as a matter of conversing properly, crossing her legs with a little bit of tease. “Renji told me to wait here but turns out he was with his friends. But I’m glad to be with your company.”

He just raised a brow, “I thought your date was Ichigo Kurosaki, isn’t he your boyfriend?” Somehow, he feels happy but doesn’t know why he feels that way.

Rukia grew tired of that question, Ichigo and her were never an item, and she doesn’t see him that way as much as possible. “He is just an ally, honestly. And there is nothing really between us.”

“Ouch Rukia. If he hears that, he would be very devastated!” He just laughed. He never knew how beautiful this woman was in front of him, her skin that magnifies the whole place, her eyes that he cannot possibly read the stories in any particular, and her resplendent beauty that overpowers the expensive dress. So, this is Rukia Kuchiki.

Rukia didn’t say anything. “You know, you wanted him to feel devastated at that time, I could really see you have changed a lot these past two years, Grimmjow.” She chuckled silently, then looking at him with a grin on her face.

Grimmjow nearly shivered. He wanted to know why this girl is such an important person towards Ichigo that he would vow on his knees to protect this woman in front of him. Just who is this woman? And why is Ichigo feels like he is so lost to see Rukia getting hurt?

“You’re interesting, I would like to know more of you, Rukia. I hope I could work for you in the near future.”

“It’s my honor to work for you as well, Grimmjow.” They shook their hands in the most proficient way and let go afterward, “But there is nothing really interesting you want to know more of me, Grimmjow.”

The way she says his name makes his heart came to life again to a hollow like him could feel this kind of disposition. Is this forbidden?

“Excuse me, Lady Rukia, Lord Byakuya is looking for you.” It was the servant of the manor who has interrupted their conversation.

Rukia signals that she heard the word and will go to meet with him. She just stood up with the help of Grimmjow, knowing that she was tipsy. “Thanks for the drink, I’ll see you around.”

Damn, she is really something! He thought as soon as they parted ways.

“You’re looking for me, Nii-sama?” She smiled.

Byakuya observed her, something was not right with her dress. It looks like it was about to fall, he did not expect her to dress immodestly. Does Matsumoto have to do with this? And she was looking like THAT while talking to that blue-haired peasant.

“What did you and that Arrancar talk about? I want you to keep your distance away from him.”

“Nii-sama, it’s alright, we’re okay now. He offered me a drink, and he wished for me to work for him, that’s all.”

Byakuya does not like what he heard. He took off his coat and covered her back. He could feel the dirty eyes of every male in the party darting to its target and that is his sister and he is more than welcomed in slashing them with his Senbonzakura.

“Nii-sama, I told you, I’m fine, I don’t feel cold, and the cold doesn’t bother me.”

“I insist, and I am not happy with what you are wearing.”

“I’m sorry, Nii-sama, this is what Shirayuki made for me, and it’s beautiful.” She was a bit dissatisfied that she disappointed her brother on what she was wearing. It wasn’t that bad.

Byakuya sighed. It is not the dress that makes her beautiful, she made the dress looks beautiful on her. She just shined in the moon right now. And he hated that insolent Arrancar who had the audacity to make a move to his sister. He could not allow such thing to get near to his pride who has tried to kill her once or twice. And he could not particularly blame everyone for hurting his one and only family, because he is too, he tried to kill her once. No, he was being a jerk to her ever since he adopted her to the Kuchiki Family. And honestly, he regretted all the things he had done to her, to make her feel less of herself. He was the one to be blamed why she was hiding in the darkness, why she tried not to tell him a single thing about her problems. It’s all because of him, his selfish and insensitive being that had caused everything for her depression.

“No, don’t feel sorry. Anyway, I wanted you to meet someone—”

“Rukia!”

Byakuya irked a bit when they were interrupted by someone in particular.

“Hey, Byakuya! Mind me borrowing, Rukia for a while?”

And there is only one person who has no manners up until this time.

“Kurosaki Ichigo. My sister is not something you can borrow, she is not an object.”

“Sheesh Byakuya, it is just an expression—”

“Uhh— Come on Ichigo, let’s talk somewhere. I’ll see you later, Nii-sama.” She bowed then dragged Ichigo far off away from her brother. And she sighed as soon as they find somewhere more private.

They were gone, she ignored me, and she did not even take my coat. Byakuya was even more dissatisfied. Then he went around to entertain the visitor.

“Thanks for saving me, Ichigo.” She owes him that.

“No big deal. I know that Byakuya could be an ass sometimes.”

“Hey don’t say that.” She punches him playfully.

He just chuckled. “Anyway, where were you, I kept on looking everywhere for you. Even though you are already wearing heels, I still can’t—”

Rukia did not even let him finish what he has to say, as she stomps his foot with her heels that earned him what he deserved.

“Geez, I was just kidding!” He cried. She may be small, but he has forgotten not to underestimate small people like Rukia. He would be killed by now if she reads his thoughts. Or worst he will meet Byakuya’s Senbonzakura in his throat.

“I was just at the bartender’s stall.”

“I see, you’re a bit of tipsy you know that how many glasses you have drank anyway?”

“Seven.”

“God, I did not know you can drink that much.”

“It’s not something an underage brat like you could discuss something like that.”

Ichigo sighed. “Stay here, I’ll get you some water.” Then he went to the bartender to get something for her to drink to relax her stomach. And honestly, she looks so different tonight, she looks so feminine that has been masking out her masculinity. That even he realized he was treating her differently this evening, he was more like gentle to her unlike their unusual bickering and nonstop argument with each other. Nah, she is still a bitch.

Rukia was near the dance floor and saw everyone started dancing with their partners. She needs to find a seat first, she regrets wearing this heels Yuzu gave to her, she could already feel the numbness forming in her legs, and she would even regret if she gets cramps after this. She composed herself and decided to wait for Ichigo. Then she saw someone walking up to her with a warm smile that crept on his face. She almost gets into tears at the moment where she sets her eyes on him. For such a long time, for how many times she had beg in front of her brother that she has to go back in Huenco Mundo to save the person who has helped her, and her friends escaped from the Menos Forest.

“Ashido.” She whispered his name, as she ran up to him, he was also doing the same thing. They kept on excusing themselves from everyone on the dance floor just as what they want to see themselves.

“Ashido!” She exclaimed, holding him in a tight embrace as soon as they find themselves with each other. How does he escape? When did he come here to soul society? Why did he change his mind of coming back in here? She had a lot of question, that she cannot just simply express it in one whole sentence. And the crowd just stopped whatever they were doing but look at them reuniting with one another. And some eyes, in particular, do not see this as a friendly camaraderie.

“Rukia, I’ve missed you.” He whispered, cupping her face, leaning so close to her as if he was controlling himself of his urge to kiss her.

“I’ve missed you too, Ashido! Why are you here? And I’m sorry, I have told you and I had promised that I will come back for you, but I didn’t. I’m sorry! I really am! I tried to come back for you, but I failed. I’m sorry that I couldn’t do such a thing just to make up my promise to you. Ashido, please, I-I am really—”

Ashido hated the way she kept on apologizing to him as he stops her by smashing his lips on hers. He could not contain his hidden emotion for her, he had missed her. Just looking at her in his arms right now for how long it was of not seeing her, this was the moment he had always been waiting for to feel her skin, to taste her lips, and just to be with the woman he had admired. When the first time he met her, he had underestimated her skills but found out that she is as strong as a warrior prepare for a battle of a lifetime and that truly makes her so different from anyone else. And he admired her for that kind of being which he could not help but fell in love with such a strong and independent warrior. Rukia was taken by surprise but she just responded of his soft gestures, the way his tongue generously asking for an entrance. She could not believe this right now, they were being stared at by everyone else. Byakuya saw them! She could not believe her tongue is asking for his.

“WHAT THE HELL IS THE MEANING OF THIS RUKIA?!” Renji, her date was enraged.

They stopped kissing when they heard Renji. This party turned into such a shameful commotion. She did not know why she responded to Ashido’s kisses, and honestly, she would be damn of how good he is.

“And you, who the hell are you!? Just who are you to Rukia?!”

“Renji, please, he is Ashido the one who help us from the Menos Forest two years ago, have some decency and respect,” Rukia assured.

“Oh, decency and respect? After what you two have caused in front of everyone, in front of your brother in the name of your title as Kuchiki to show such an indecent act!? And what about respect, Rukia! I am your date, and you came to kiss this guy and ask me to buy me your respect. I am your date! Why can’t you buy my respect?!” Renji was filled with hurt that spreads all over his face.

Rukia bit her tongue. “I-I’m sorry.”

“Jesus Christ! Rukia!?”

She had hurt him again. “Renji—please—” Then she saw Ichigo who was carrying a water bottle, seeing how surprised he was even more confusing.

Rukia’s head was getting dizzier, she just rubbed her temple, massaging all the headaches. She was confused to whom she would deal first. But Renji’s words pierced right into her heart and seeing how hurt he was, left her with guilt and felt she had lost her loyalty to him. As partners.

“ENOUGH! All of you in my office now! Especially you, Grimmjow.”

Grimmjow just blinked he didn’t do anything, maybe he just did a little, like offering Byakuya’s little sister a drink. But he just obeyed as they all followed Byakuya in his office.

“All of you! Did you all know how indecent it was to make up such commotion to everyone! Ashido, why did you kiss my sister?”

“Um—”

“And Rukia, I am extremely disappointed in you tonight!”

“I’m sorry, Nii-sama.” Rukia just sighed, it was her fault. She felt with so much guilt that Renji could not even dare to look at her and all she could see is the anger in his face and the hurt in his eyes. Then who should be the one who will be blamed with that? Her.

“But Ashido why are you here?” It was Ichigo who had asked.

“Oh, I came back because the Kano Family needed a new Heir and Byakuya Kuchiki-dono was the one who helped me escape for her sister’s sake.”

They were surprised as well as Rukia.

“Nii-sama, you? You were the one who helped him escape?”

Byakuya sighed, he could no longer put his anger at her but seeing her right now the only woman in the room to be so beautiful. She is so elegant. “I have been telling you not to worry about it. Because I have everything in control.”

“Just when did you come back here, Ashido.” Rukia somehow connected the dots.

“I—”

“I forbid you to answer that!” Byakuya raged.

“And I forbid you to listen to him!” Rukia fought.

Ashido sighed. “I came back in Soul Society, two years ago. After you had begged for your brother to look for me.”

“And why am I hearing it just now?” She was mad.

“It was for your own good.” Said her brother simply.

“What good did I get to deserve something like this! I always have to blame myself and thought about it all night of the I promise I have made to save Ashido. Are you out of your mind?!”

Everyone did not say anything.

“This is bullshit!”

Byakuya had forgotten that Rukia too has a sharp tongue. He has to lecture her about that later.

“I’m sorry, Rukia. It is not your brother’s fault. It was no one’s fault at all. The elders, they were the one who decided to hinder us from seeing each other again. Because they were arranging a proposal for us to be married.”

“WHAT!?” These reactions came from Ichigo, Grimmjow, and Renji.

“Oh.” Rukia reacted vaguely, she was used on hearing arranged marriage and every proposal is a failure due to her brother’s strength and power of not letting her marry anyone for her sake. And for the sake of the Kuchiki Family. Because for Byakuya he knows what is best for her, who is best for her. And whatever he has in mind, she should abide by his decisions.

“Nii-sama, you knew about this?”

“It is my role as Heir of the Kuchiki Clan to know any information with our affiliation with the other Noble Families.”

“And, do you think the Kuchiki Clan and the Kano Clan are prepared to produce an offspring?”

“Yes. I believe we are all prepared—”

“For the sake of the family. But not for me? Remember, I am not a true blood Kuchiki. And I don’t like people who only see women as sexual objects just because we are the only ones who can produce an offspring. This is not how society works! This is like some stupid complexity that both parties are being forced for marriage!”

“And you must abide with the rules because you are my sister. You were a Kuchiki! And that’s final, you are marrying the Heir of the Kano family.”

Rukia clenched her fist, she could not contain her anger, she felt so betrayed. She could not believe her own brother has to do this to her. She didn’t realize she is losing out of control that she lowered her own body temperature causing the room to shake, forming a gush of ice fog near her body.

“Rukia, you have to calm down!” Byakuya told her, but she didn’t listen.

She was out of her mind everything inside Byakuya’s office turned to ice and broke it into tiny bits of pieces.

“Captain! Do something about this!?” Renji exclaimed chanting some kido spell to break the ice of his frozen legs.

“Rukia can do this?” Grimmjow was in awe, getting away from Rukia as much as possible to avoid being frozen cold.

“Don’t be surprised, idiot! Rukia’s bankai could literally kill anything! And she is momentarily killing herself right now!” Ichigo hissed at Grimmjow.

Rukia’s hair turned white. “I’M OUT OF HERE!” She blows such fuse of coldness that everyone inside the room frozen on their feet. And could not follow her.

Rukia walked as fast as she could outside the banquet that everyone seems to be so surprised with her setback, they were trying to get away within the area. She was freezing the whole ground of the banquet that even the Koi fish pond turned solid ice because of how cold she is.

“What happened?!” It was Captain Hitsugaya who demanded an answer as everyone pointing their Zanapkuto at Rukia.

“Please, everyone, calm down!” It was Ashido who was just following her behind together with the other men in Byakuya’s office.

“Rukia... you need to calm yourself first.” Ashido said in short breaths, “Look around you, everyone is scared.”

Rukia stiffened a bit, as she looks around in every corner of the banquet. They were giving her a look of fear. Her power is uncontrollable, yet she feels so strong and powerful that it also become a very dangerous state for her to master it. She breathes slowly melting and thawing out the area around her slowly as it is, she began to melt. Her hair turns to its original color and her entire organs inside her skin just melted to its core as soon as she reached her normal temperature. She made a little scratch on her left cheek.

“My greatest apology, everyone, Nii-sama.”

“ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL US ALL?!” It was Ikakku.

“SEIZE HER!” Soifon ordered her mobile squad to capture her.

“DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT LAYING A SINGLE FINGER AT HER!” Byakuya roared, glaring Soifon’s subordinates.

“Or you will be killed by her lethal skin?” Byakuya muttered. He chanted some kido spell and targeted it to his sister as a yellow bolt of string keeps her from moving away. “And don’t even think about freezing it!” He warned her.

“Party is over. I’ll take everything under control if you please let me Kyoraku Captain Commander?”

“SHE SHOULD BE IN JAIL! FOR THIS SINFUL ACT! SHE WAS TRYING TO KILL EVERYONE!” Soifon seized.

“It was an accident! She did not do anything wrong!” Ichigo defended.

“Ichigo,” Rukia called him out, “It’s okay.” She gestured him not to speak any further. Ichigo just bit his tongue and obeyed.

Rukia curtsied an apologetic bow in front of the crowd and curtsies herself in front of her dear brother, avoiding the gaze he was giving to her.

“Lift your head.”

Rukia did so and receives a slap from him which took everyone by surprise. The slap that everyone can hear, and they could not believe he just did that to his own sister. She could have been better off in jail than being treated with humiliation with the whole people in Soul Society. Rukia was pretty used to it. A squatter like her to be in the Kuchiki Family, having the title as Lieutenant in the 13th Court Guard and her name is known in the criminal records in Seireitei for transferring her powers to a human boy, and other sins that her brother would always keep on reminding her not to disappoint him again. Until now, she is such a hard-headed Shinigami.

The bolt of binding was still around her body.

“Take her to her room.” Byakuya told his servants as he unbinds the Kido spell from her, as his servants bowed in front of Byakuya and bowed at Rukia before they will take her to her room.

Rukia slumped into her bed. Rolling over to the side, finding it uncomfortable, then slumps back facing the wooden ceilings. She had lost her count how many times she had disappointed him with her manners.

“Rukia-sama, is there anything you need?” She heard her servant by the door, wishing any request from her.

“No, leave me be.” Rukia lost her mood as well, maybe she was ashamed of her doings. Especially, her incident with Ashido, her fight on the dance floor, her anger to her brother, the way she blows some shards of ice nearly killing the people in the mansion, and being the host of the party to show such indecent manner to her visitors.

She counted the spiritual pressure decreased one by one away from the mansion as if they started calling the night to such a pity party. She could feel Ichigo, Renji, Grimmjow, and Ashido along with Byakuya being in the same area together. Her brother might be telling them that they are prohibited from seeing her ever again. Then, they just separated in such a swift manner. Rukia sighed heavily, she doesn’t like staying in her room, she had asked Ichigo to open the window for her at the World of Living at his house, as she had decided it to him that she will be staying at his house for a while. But unfortunately, her brother dumps her in her room.

“Rukia?”

She heard her brother’s stoic voice behind the door. She did not answer.

“Meet me in my office at ten, make sure you are properly dressed!”

If Rukia hadn’t enough temper, she would have freeze the door in no time, or freeze the whole Seireitei that it surely will become a one winter season, and spring, autumn, and summer will cease to exist. She just quickly changes into something more comfortable and presentable, a black with florally patterned kimono. It was given by the elders on her last birthday and waited for the time to strike ten.

She heard a knock o the window sill by her balcony and felt his spiritual pressure.

WHAT THE HELL IS HE THINKING?!

“What the hell are you doing in here!? You can be killed!” Rukia hissed to see this bright orange haired idiot who has no fear of getting himself killed by her brother’s rage.

“Shhh, I’ve learned how to hide my spiritual pressure and don’t shout.” He hissed back at her.

Rukia just shuts her mouth as she joined him in the balcony, enjoying the relaxing cold windy air that Ichigo shivered and Rukia being immune to it. “You should go home, Ichigo. Please.”

“For two years, Rukia. You knew that I’d never listened to whatever you say. And you’re still going to tell me that?”

“For two years, Idiot. You knew that I’d kick your ass if you wouldn’t listen to me, yet you still got your ass kicked by me.”

Ichigo just blinked and got his ass kicked just now. Then he chuckled, let’s just say, Rukia’s kicks hurt a lot. He just rubbed his butt, ignoring the pain---well enduring it while enjoying her company in the silent night.

Rukia just wondered what he was doing in her balcony. “Aren’t you gonna ask about what just happened?”

“I wanted to, but let’s stay here for the silence for a while,” Ichigo stated, closing his eyes while putting his elbows on the railings.

Rukia chuckled silently, “Idiot!”

“Say anything you want.”

Rukia just followed his position then lets out the longest exhale ever recorded. “You see, about what happened, about---”

“About what happened to you and Grimmjow, why did Byakuya call him in his office? Why is he in the game as if he is part of it.” There ICHIGO said it. He could not contain his curiosity anymore to why he was here. He needed answers or he wouldn’t be able to sleep with all the questions running in his head.

“Well, he offered me a drink.” She said simply.

“And?”

“And ask me that he will work for me in the near future.” Rukia sighed, she was being asked the same question for one night and by two persons. And she is tired of hearing it.

“And about that KISS?! Could you please explain it to me?” He was now facing her, frustrated.

“The kiss, was...nice?”

“I DIDN’T SAY TO DESCRIBE IT!”

“Well, I was surprised by it, and I missed Ashido.”

“A total stranger, yes. Yet you still responded, and are you sure you consider it as a friendly camaraderie?”

“I never said it was!”

“Then why did you respond?”

“Because---”

“Because you’ve never been kissed before, and you responded because you felt nice in his lips?”

“Why do you care so much about me kissing someone?!”

“BECAUSE YOU DON’T LOVE HIM!”

“Ichigo! Please! GO BACK TO YOUR HOME!”

“NO! I WILL NEVER LISTEN TO WHATEVER YOU WILL SAY TO ME TO GO HOME, TO GO BACK AWAY FROM YOU. BUT I WILL DO WHATEVER PLEASES ME!”

Rukia sighed. “Is there anything you needed to ask?”

“Are you marrying him?”

Rukia looked away. “What other choice do I have, of course, I will marry him.”

“Why?”

“I SAID I DON’T HAVE ANY CHOICE!”

“And you would just give it up that easily fighting what is really good for you? But abide for what is good for the Kuchiki Family?”

Rukia did not answer to that.

“Don’t get smart with me, of course, I still have my rights, even if it means my brother will kill me,” Rukia said it with so much vague in her tone of voice.

“Then, it is your turn to answer me, why would you care so much as much as this?”

Ichigo nearly bit his tongue, nearly stuttered, “because you are my friend, and--”

He looked away, he cannot believe that his heart was racing like this, “and I don’t want you to get married yet.”

Damn, why do I sound so possessive!?

“And if you do, I-I could feel I don’t have anyone to talk to, to argue to, to fight to, to stay in my closet, and to have this kind of normal and freedom relationship like we had, like this, right now.”

Rukia felt the warmth when he said those words. It really means a lot to her, she just smiled. She was so happy to hear such sentiment of what real friendship is all about. That’s how their relationship works.

“Idiot, even if I marry him, our relationship remains intact.”

No, don’t even think of marrying him or marrying someone. Ichigo held his grip.

“I don’t know, Ichigo. Even if I don’t have any other choice. I feel like I’m being choked down and being forced into something I couldn’t deal with.”

“Then, I will help you.”

“Rukia please, trust me this time. I will convince Byakuya not to marry you with Ashido.”

“And why can’t my sister be married to him, Ichigo Kurosaki? And did I ever warn you to stay away from Rukia a while ago?”

“Byakuya! You cannot just separate Rukia and me for some stupid reason! And do you think Rukia would be happy about that? She is your dear sister, treat her correctly! And You cannot force her to something she cannot handle, she is still learning and improving, she doesn’t have to be perfect in everyone's eyes, because for me, Rukia has her own imperfections and she is not ashamed of it! She has her own kind of strength by being one of the strongest Shinigami’s I’ve ever known! And it is not just being a Shinigami is her strength, but she is strong to handle any situation even from her childhood and up to this day! And that’s how strong she is no matter what you can do to make you control her! She is strong! She is not some kind of Royalty to be treated like a rose-tinted glass, she is Rukia! She is someone who can fight on her own, even though she really needed it! But that’s what makes her different! She is unique! You cannot protect her forever! Because she is strong enough than to be protected by thousands of blades! AND YOU SHOULD BE PROUD OF HER! Brother to brother, I am disappointed in you!”

Byakuya who have entered in the scene startled Rukia, as Rukia kept her silence. This time, she couldn’t say any words. She wouldn’t want this night to be a burden for her. She could not believe what she just heard, it makes her happy, Ichigo said those to her? In front of her brother? And Praying that Ichigo wouldn’t be killed either.

THIS STUPID IDIOT!

“Very well.”

“What!?” Ichigo and Rukia said in shock, that was fast? Did Byakuya get awaken with what Ichigo just said?

“Kurosaki, don’t ever think so highly of yourself, you are not the reason why I change my mind.” Byakuya said with such venom in his voice.

Ichigo just blushed embarrassingly. With Rukia hearing all the things he said about her in front of her brother, then this oh-so-high-and-mighty Noble Shinigami grade A pain in the ass would tell him something like that was even more embarrassing.

“Rukia, I’m sorry, I’m sorry about not being the perfect brother, I’m sorry that I hurt you. I want to stab myself---” Byakuya ranted, looking down on the floor.

“N-Nii-sama! Lift your head.” It was her turned to slap him back, but not in a way of paying back, but waking him up.

Byakuya deserved that one. “You slap like, Hisana.”

“Everything is all right.”

“Not everything, Rukia. I have carved a deep scar in your heart even from the day we met and even before we met. I could not see myself a perfect brother for you. I don’t worth calling myself your brother.”

“Nii-sama, I told you. It’s alright, can we speak later.” Rukia needed him to go, she wanted to hear whatever Ichigo just said to her.

Byakuya did not say anything at all. But felt his sister was pushing him away because of what Ichigo had said about her sister. He felt rejected. And he was not happy about Ichigo saying those things to his sister. Does he even deserve this?

Byakuya just leaves them defeatedly as he returned to his office to speak with Rukia later. That insolent human, don’t even think about touching my sister.

“So--”

“DON’T EVEN START WITH THAT! I DARE YOU!” Ichigo said, with a flush on his face.

“I’m different...I’m unique? I’m strong?”

Ichigo needed to calm himself down. “Well yeah---”

“It’s just, I just realized that one, but I cannot even bring myself that I’m always here to protect you.”

“I don’t need it, Ichigo.”

“And I need you to protect me as well, Rukia.”

Rukia just looked at him they were gazing at each other. “Stupid.”

“Midget.”

Then they just laughed. Then looked at the moon, how beautiful it is.

“The moon.” Rukia started.

“What about it?”

“It’s beautiful,” Rukia said admiringly, closing her eyes.

Ichigo just looked at the moon then to her, “Yeah.” He smiled. “I’m looking at one right now.” Whispering. He returned his gaze back at the moon after he was being too obvious.

“And she’s really beautiful.” He said with a smile.

“RUKIA! WILL YOU STILL MARRY ME!?”

DAMN IT! Ichigo thought interrupted by Ashido and the others who barged into Rukia’s balcony.

“What the hell are you guys doing in here!?” Rukia hissed.

“RUKIA I’M SORRY ABOUT EARLIER!” Renji who was sorry for himself.

“Hey, Ruks, let’s go slay some Menos Grande’s in Huenco Mundo, just you and me.”

“HEY! YOU GUYS ARE INTERRUPTING US!” Ichigo wailed.

“Scatter, Senbonzakura.”
