ASOIAF discourse would be a lot more fun if we all realized that every single person who has been put in a position of leadership/rulership fails in one way or another. Jon and Dany failing is not an indictment on their abilities to lead or rule. Theyâre kids, they still have shit to figure out. Given âwhat was Aragornâs tax policyâ, I doubt GRRM will write a story that will feature the appearance of a most perfect ruler ever who will be a total success instead Jon and Dany who were tOtAl FlOpS. Especially if this person has no previous experience that has been detailed within the text itself. Thatâs not only antithetical to the series, but also not how you write a narrative.
#I donât mean to be condescending but so many people missed the point of yg#heâs not here to be the perfect solution over jon and dany#heâs here to validate their arcs as heroes and leaders - sorry to say#theyâre incredibly flawed individuals and they intimately failed in adwd but like literally so did everyone else#FAILURE IS A PROCESS OF LEARNING!!!#their stories arenât over yet#grrm isnât going to write yg being the most perfect king ever so we can be like ew jon and dany suck glad they died or whatever#heâs also not likely to be the third head of the dragon but I donât want to get into that today#asoiaf#jon snow#daenerys targaryen#valyrianscrolls#anti reddit rant lmao#god I should stop visiting that subreddit itâs the worst snajbabsjan

Empowering Employees: How Microlearning Makes Compliance Training More Human

Compliance training is often met with groans, skipped modules, or last-minute cramming sessions. But the issue isnât that employees donât care about complianceâitâs that the training doesnât care about them.
Generic, one-size-fits-all content, delivered in long, monotonous sessions, does little to connect with the real experiences and daily challenges of employees. If we want to build ethical, compliant organizations, we must first build engaged, informed people.
This is where microlearning shines.
By offering short, focused, and interactive content that fits into the rhythm of a typical workday, microlearning transforms compliance from a box-ticking task into a human-centered experience. And with solutions like MaxLearn, which offers a purpose-built microlearning map for compliance training, companies are seeing dramatic improvements in employee knowledge, engagement, and accountability.
Compliance Training Isnât Working for Most Employees
Letâs take a moment to be honest: many employees see compliance training as a chore. A survey of workers across industries found that:
62% say the training they receive is too long and hard to follow
48% forget most of the content within a month
37% donât believe itâs relevant to their day-to-day responsibilities
Thatâs a big problemâbecause employee understanding is the front line of compliance. If staff donât retain key policies or know how to act in risky situations, the organization remains vulnerable.
Traditional training is failing them. But microlearning offers a better path.
What is Microlearning, and Why Do Employees Love It?
Microlearning is a learning approach that delivers training in bite-sized lessons, usually under 10 minutes. Itâs based on science-backed principles of cognitive retention, spaced repetition, and contextual learning.
What makes it work for employees?
Short and focused: One topic per module keeps it simple and digestible.
Accessible anywhere: Mobile-friendly content fits into their schedule, not the other way around.
Interactive: Simulations, quizzes, and videos keep engagement high.
Self-paced: Learners move at their own speed, building confidence as they go.
In essence, microlearning respects employeesâ time, intelligence, and attention spans. Thatâs a game-changer.
MaxLearn: Designed for the Modern Employee
MaxLearn leads the way in personalized, role-based compliance training. Its intuitive microlearning map for compliance training helps organizations deliver the right lessons to the right people, at exactly the right time.
For employees, that means:
Fewer irrelevant modulesâjust what they need to know for their job
Regular check-ins instead of overwhelming once-a-year courses
Scenario-based learning that reflects real-world situations
Instant feedback so they understand what they got rightâor wrong
With MaxLearn, employees feel supportedânot lectured. And that makes them far more likely to remember and apply what theyâve learned.
Microlearning Builds Trust, Not Just Knowledge
One of the biggest hurdles in compliance is employee trust. If training feels like surveillance or punishment, learners disengage. But when they see it as a tool that protects them and empowers better decisions, their mindset shifts.
Hereâs how microlearning supports a trust-based culture:
Clarity: Clear, jargon-free lessons explain not just the âwhat,â but the âwhy.â
Consistency: Regular training touchpoints reinforce company values and expectations.
Psychological safety: Micro-assessments allow employees to make mistakes privately, without judgment.
Supportive leadership: Managers can follow up with targeted guidance instead of blanket mandates.
Ultimately, compliance is a shared responsibility. Microlearning helps employees feel like part of the solution, not just subjects of the policy.
The Employee Journey: From Onboarding to Advocacy
Microlearning is incredibly flexibleâitâs not just for new hires or annual refreshers. With platforms like MaxLearn, you can create a continuous training for compliance lifecycle that meets employees where they are:
đš Onboarding
New hires get a tailored learning path based on their role, reducing overwhelm and setting expectations early.
đš Milestone Reinforcement
Employees receive micro-content during performance reviews, promotions, or team changesâkeeping compliance top-of-mind.
đš Proactive Risk Management
If a department faces new regulations or audit issues, targeted training can be rolled out instantly.
đš Peer Learning and Recognition
Gamified modules allow employees to track their progress and even mentor others in best practices.
Over time, employees become compliance championsânot because they were forced to, but because they understand it.
Real Results, Real Motivation
Companies that adopt microlearning for compliance report measurable improvements in key metrics:
90% completion rates compared to 40â60% for traditional training
30â50% reduction in policy violations
Improved employee satisfaction with learning systems
Stronger alignment between company values and employee behavior
More importantly, employees feel respected and empowered. They see compliance not as an obligation, but as a way to protect themselves, their teams, and the company.
Best Practices: Making Microlearning Work for Everyone
To make microlearning a success, focus on the learner experience:
Keep it short and focused: One concept per module avoids information overload.
Make it interactive: Use storytelling, videos, and real-life dilemmas.
Ensure accessibility: Offer mobile, audio, and multi-language options.
Embed in workflow: Integrate with Slack, Teams, or your company intranet.
Measure and adapt: Use analytics to improve training based on employee feedback and performance.
With MaxLearn, your training for compliance becomes a living system that evolves with your workforce.
Conclusion: Compliance with a Human Touch
At its core, compliance is about people. Itâs about creating environments where everyone understands the rules, knows why they matter, and feels confident making the right call.
Microlearning honors that human element. It respects employeesâ time, delivers information in a way that sticks, and builds a workplace culture that values clarity and care.
With tools like MaxLearnâs microlearning map for compliance training, organizations are finally putting peopleânot paperworkâat the heart of their compliance strategy.

Cozy Cabin Collection - Bedroom
Hey everyone!
The final part of the Cozy Cabin Collection is here! It is a bedroom set and includes a modular closet with items to fill them up with.
I'm a little sad to say goodbye this cabin theme because I gained a lot of followers through the time I was making these sets and I also learned a lot of new skills and techniques. When I came up with the idea of a large collection to guide us through autumn and winter, I hadnât expected it to become so significant in terms of sentimental value. I was always thinking about the next idea to bring to life and living in a cabin in my mind. Despite this being a sad moment, Iâm so excited for whatâs next! Iâll be creating a set for a commercial lot, and Iâve had this idea for about a month and a half. After seeing what the next expansion pack will be, Iâm even more excited because I think it will complement it well.
A bit more about this set: It started as a bedroom set but somehow turned into a closet set with bedroom items. At first, I only wanted to add two closet pieces with the door, but I figured it would be more versatile (and not too much extra work) if I included the corner piece as well. A little info on how the door works: You can slot the door onto the closet pieces, with three slots available on each piece. It only makes sense to use the side slots if you have two or more pieces placed next to each other. I added multiple slots for hanging clothes so you can use the in-game clothes (or other CC ones) that are grouped together, but also place individual items without using the TOOL mod.
The wicker basket, folded sweaters and the hat box are stackable.
For the curtains, I made a curtain rod that, for some godforsaken reason, looks completely different in-game than the rod on the curtain items themselves, despite them having the same texture and everything. This was the reason I couldn't include them in the last setâI just couldnât get them right no matter how hard I tried. I even checked out other CC that does the same thing by separating the rod, and they all had the same problem. Somehow, the lighting on them looks different, and I couldnât find a solution. So sorry for this issue but hopefully it's not too noticable.
I think thatâs all! Iâm really grateful for all of you being hereâthank you, and I hope youâll like this set as well. Let me know if you have any issues, and feel free to leave your thoughts below so I can see what you like and what you donât.

WEEK 5
The test turned positive on a Sunday. By Monday morning, the entire medicine cabinet had been rearranged like it was a trauma cart.
Your moisturizer had been nudged over to make room for prescription-grade prenatals, a bottle of magnesium, a DHA complex, andâof all thingsâtwo individually labeled pill sorters with day-of-the-week dividers. One pink. One clear. Yours and Jack's, apparently.
You found him in the kitchen at 6:42 a.m., already in scrubs. He was calmly cutting the crusts off toast while listening to NPR and making a second cup of coffee for himself.
When he turned, he gave you a long once-overânot in a critical way, but diagnostic. Like he was scanning you for vitals only he could see.
âYouâre flushed,â he said. âAnd your pupils are dilated. You feel dizzy yet?â
You furrowed your brow. âNo?â
âGood. Youâre hydrating better than I thought.â
You blinked. âJack, I havenât even said good morning.â
He walked over and handed you a glass of room-temp water. âIâm loving you with medically sourced precision.â
You stared at the glass. âThis isnât cold.â
âCold water upsets your stomach. Lukewarm helps with early bloat.â
âJack.â
âI know what Iâm doing.â
You raised an eyebrow. âDo you?â
He tilted his head. âIâve watched septic patients stabilize faster than accountants facing a positive Clearblue. I know exactly what this is.â
You pressed your hands to your face and groaned. âYouâre not going to hover this much every week, are you?â
Jack leaned down, brushing a kiss over your shoulder. âNo. Some weeks Iâll hover more.â
âI made your appointment already,â he said, voice casual. âFriday. Dr. Patel. 3:40.â
You blinked. âYou didnât even ask me.â
âShe owes me a favor,â Jack said. âGot her niece into ortho during the peak of the shortage last year. Trust meâsheâll take care of you.â
You frowned, stunned. âHow did you even pull that off so fast?â
Jack raised an eyebrow. âSweetheart. Iâm an ER doctor. I have connections. I can get my wife seen before the weekâs out.â
Your eyes welled up suddenlyâcaught off guard by how steady he was, how sure. You were still half-floating in disbelief. Jack was already ten steps ahead, clearing the path.
WEEK 6
You learned very quickly that pregnancy was a full-time jobâand Jack approached it with quiet precision.
The first time you dry-heaved over the kitchen sink, he didnât rush in with a solution. He didnât lecture or hover. He just stepped into the room, leaned against the counter, and waited until you looked up.
âStill thinking about that leftover pasta?â he asked softly.
You made a face. âDonât say the word pasta.â
He crossed the kitchen, wordless, and pulled open a drawer. Out came a wrapped ginger chew. Then he disappeared down the hall.
When he returned, he had your cardigan in one hand and a bottle of lemon water in the other.
You blinked at him. âWhat are you doing?â
Jack handed you the water first. âYou always run cold when youâre nauseous. But I know youâll refuse a blanket if youâre flushed.â
You stared.
He draped the cardigan over your shoulders.
âYou okay?â
You nodded slowly. âI think so.â
âOkay,â he said. âLet me know when you want toast.â
You half-laughed, half-cried, wiping your eyes on your sleeve. âYou donât have to be this gentle every second.â
Jack leaned in. âIâm not being gentle. Iâm being exact. Thereâs a difference.â
Later that night, you sat curled up on the couch, still wrapped in the cardigan, while Jack quietly swapped your usual diffuser oil with something new.
âPeppermint,â he said when you asked. âHelps with queasiness.â
You raised an eyebrow. âAnd the bin next to the couch?â
âLetâs call it contingency planning.â
You smirked. âYouâre really building systems around me, huh?â
Jack looked at youâsoft, certain. âNo. Iâm building them for you.â
He moved across the room and brushed your hair back off your forehead, thumb pausing at your temple like he could smooth out whatever discomfort lingered there.
âYouâre not the patient,â he murmured. âYouâre the constant. And Iâm going to do whatever it takes to keep the ground steady under your feet.â
You didnât have a clever reply.
You just pulled him onto the couch beside you and tucked yourself into his chestâgrateful beyond words that this was who you got to build a life with.
WEEK 9
Jack was folding laundry on the bed when you walked into the room barefoot, carrying a bowl of cereal and wearing his old college sweatshirt.
You caught his glance. âWhat?â
He shook his head, smiled a little. âJust thinking you wear my clothes better than I ever did.â
You rolled your eyes, but your smile gave you away. He set a towel down. Reached for your bowl as you sat on the edge of the bed.
âI got it,â you said.
âI know,â he murmured, holding it anyway while you shifted the pillow behind your back. Once you were settled, he handed it back.
You took a bite, then glanced at the basket of half-folded laundry.
âYou know thatâs mostly my stuff, right?â
Jack looked at the pile. âItâs ours. Who else is gonna fold your seven thousand pairs of fuzzy socks?â
You laughed into your spoon.
He leaned against the dresser and just looked at you for a second. Not in a way that made you self-consciousâjust soft. Familiar.
âYouâre quieter this week,â he said.
You shrugged. âIâm tired.â
He nodded. âWant to go somewhere this weekend? Just us?â
âLike where?â
âNowhere big. Justâout of the house. We could rent a cabin. Lay around. Sleep until noon. Let you pretend Iâm not watching you nap like itâs my full-time job.â
You raised an eyebrow. âYou do that now?â
âNot always. Just when you start snoring like a golden retriever pup.â
âJack.â
He grinned, walked over, and kissed your temple.
âAlright, no trips. But at least let me cook something tonight. Something warm.â
You sighed. âYou already do too much.â
He looked at you seriously then, crouched a little so you were eye-level.
âI donât keep score,â he said. âIâm your husband. Youâre growing our kid. If all I have to do is make dinner and fold socks, Iâm getting off easy.â
WEEK 14
By week fourteen, the second trimester hit like an exhale.
You werenât queasy every morning anymore. Your appetite returned. You could brush your teeth without gagging. And Jack, for the first time in weeks, actually relaxed enough to sit through an entire episode of something without checking on you mid-scene.
You were curled on the couch togetherâyour head in his lapâwhen he slid his hand beneath your shirt and rested it on the soft curve of your stomach.
You raised an eyebrow. âYouâre subtle.â
âIâm consistent.â
You snorted. âYouâre clingy.â
His thumb brushed just under your ribs. âIâm memorizing.â
You shifted slightly, tucking your feet closer. âYou already know everything about me.â
Jack looked down at you, the corners of his mouth twitching. âI know the before. This part? This is new.â
He went quiet, and you could feel the shift in himâsomething deeper, more reverent than before.
âIâve seen pregnancy before,â he said. âBut Iâve never⌠watched it happen to someone I come home to.â
You turned your head to look up at him. âYou okay?â
Jack nodded slowly. âI just keep thinking⌠youâre building someone I havenât met yet. And I already know Iâd give my life for them.â
Your throat tightened. You reached for his hand where it rested on your stomach, lacing your fingers through his.
âWeâre doing okay, right?â
Jack bent down, kissed your forehead. âYouâre doing better than okay.â
You smiled. âWeâre a good team.â
âThe best,â he said. âEven if you keep stealing all the pillows.â
You laughed. âYou sleep like a corpse. You donât need them.â
He grinned. âYouâre getting cocky now that the nauseaâs eased.â
âYouâll miss her when sheâs gone.â
âNo, Iâll just be glad to have you back.â
You rolled your eyes. âYou have me.â
Jack kissed you again. Longer this time.
âYeah,â he whispered. âI do.â
WEEK 15
It started with the baby books.
Not the ones you bought. The ones Jack picked upâthree of them, stacked neatly on the nightstand one morning after a grocery run you hadnât joined him on.
You noticed them after your shower. He was still in the kitchen, loading the dishwasher, humming something that definitely wasnât in tune. But the titles made you pause.
ââWhat to Expect for Dads,ââ you read aloud, holding the top one up when he walked in. âYou going soft on me?â
Jack raised an eyebrow. âHardly. Just figured if youâre doing the building, I can at least read the manual.â
You smirked, flipping through a page. âYouâre the manual.â
âIâm the triage guy. I donât have maternal instincts. I have protocols.â
You leaned back against the headboard. âYouâre being humble, but youâre gonna ace this.â
He shrugged, crossing the room to sit on the edge of the bed. âI just want to know whatâs coming. Iâve done newborn shifts. Iâve handed babies to people shaking so hard they could barely hold them. But this? This isnât a shift. This is us.â
You touched his arm. âYouâve already done more than I can even keep track of.â
Jack looked at you for a long moment. Then placed his hand over yours. âI donât want to just be useful. I want to be good. For both of you.â
You didnât know what to say.
So you leaned forward and kissed himâgentle, deep. His hand slid to your stomach as naturally as breathing.
You pulled back just enough to whisper, âYou already are.â
That night, when he thought you were asleep, he cracked open the book again.
And stayed up past midnight reading about swaddling, latch cues, and the difference between Braxton Hicks and the real thing.
WEEK 16
Jack stood in the doorway of your office for almost a full minute before saying anything.
You looked up from your laptop, eyebrows raised. âWhat?â
He didnât move. Just scanned the roomâyour desk, the bookshelf, the little armchair in the corner that you never actually used.
Then, finally: âIs our house big enough for this?â
You blinked. âFor what?â
He gestured vaguely toward your belly, then the room. âAll of it. A baby. Crib. Noise. Diapers. More laundry. Less sleep.â
You smiled gently. âI thought we were turning this room into the nursery.â
âWe are,â he said quickly. âI just⌠I keep running scenarios in my head. And this place felt huge when it was just us.â
You closed your laptop. âJack.â
He looked at you.
âWeâll figure it out. We already are.â
He crossed the room, leaned against your desk. âIâm not trying to panic.â
âI know.â
âI just keep thinking about how everythingâs going to change. I want to make sure we still feel like us once it does.â
You stood and wrapped your arms around his waist, head resting against his chest. âWe will. You think too far ahead sometimes.â
âThatâs my job,â he murmured.
âAnd mine is reminding you that itâs okay to not solve everything all at once.â
He kissed the top of your head. âI know. I just want it to be enough.â
WEEK 19
Jack was unusually quiet on the drive to the anatomy scan.
Not anxious. Just focused in a way that told you his brain had been working overtime since the moment he woke up. His hand rested on your thigh at every red light, thumb tracing small circles against the fabric of your leggings.
âYou good?â you asked, turning down the radio.
He glanced over, nodded once. âJust running through the checklist in my head.â
You smiled gently. âYouâre not at work, babe.â
âI know. But Iâve never seen one of these as a husband.â
You reached over and laced your fingers through his. âYou donât have to be perfect today. You just have to be here.â
He gave you a look. âI am here. Thatâs the problem. Iâm so here I canât think about anything else.â
The waiting room was dim, quiet, and smelled vaguely like lemon disinfectant. Jack sat beside you, legs spread in his usual posture, one hand on your knee. His thumb tapped once. Then again. Then stopped.
The tech was warm, professional. She dimmed the lights. Asked if you wanted to know the sex. You said yes before Jack could answer.
You held your breath as the screen lit up in shades of blue and gray.
âEverythingâs looking healthy,â the tech said. âStrong spine, great heartbeat, long legs.â
Jack tightened his grip on your hand.
âAnd it looks like youâre having a girl.â
You exhaled all at once. Then laughed. Or maybe cried. It blurred together.
Jack didnât say anything right away. Just stared at the monitor, jaw tense, eyes glassy.
You turned to look at him. âJack.â
He blinked. âYeah.â
âYou okay?â
He nodded slowly. âYeah, I justââ He swallowed. âSheâs real.â
The rest of the appointment was a hazeâmeasurements, murmurs of âgood growth,â the gentle swipe of gel off your stomach. Jack didnât let go of your hand the entire time.
That night, you came out of the bathroom in an old t-shirt and found him standing at the dresser, staring down at something small in his hand.
You stepped closer. âWhatâs that?â
He held it up without lookingâone of the newborn onesies youâd bought weeks ago in a moment of cautious optimism. Light yellow. Soft cotton.
âYou think sheâll fit in this?â he asked.
You smiled. âTheyâre tiny, Jack. Thatâs kind of the whole point.â
He nodded but didnât move.
You wrapped your arms around him from behind. âYouâre allowed to feel everything. Itâs a big day.â
He turned, wrapped his arms around you carefully. âI think I was more afraid of not feeling it.â
You pressed your forehead to his. âYouâre allowed to be happy.â
âI am,â he said, voice rough. âI just keep thinking about how Iâm going to keep her safe. How Iâm going to teach her to breathe through chaos. How Iâll probably mess it up a hundred times.â
âYouâre not going to mess it up.â
He looked at you. âYou really think that?â
âI married you, didnât I?â
Jack smiled for real then. âYouâve always been the smarter one.â
You rolled your eyes. âBut youâre the one whoâs going to end up wrapped around her finger.â
He kissed your temple. âThat part was inevitable.â
WEEK 25
Jack convinced you to finally start looking at houses.
Youâd been reluctantâemotionally attached to the place youâd built your early marriage in, skeptical about change when everything in your life already felt like it was shiftingâbut Jack had waited. Quietly. Patiently.
And then one morning, while you were brushing your teeth, he leaned in behind you, kissed your shoulder, and said, âYou deserve a bigger closet.â
That was how it started.
Now, you were standing in a half-empty living room with sun pouring through tall windows and a sold sign posted out front.
Jack had just gotten off the phone with your realtor. âItâs official,â he said, sliding his phone into his back pocket. âInspection cleared. We close in three weeks.â
You blinked. âWe really bought a house.â
He walked over, wrapped his arms around your waist from behind, rested his chin on your shoulder. âCorrection: we bought your dream closet.â
You laughed. âYou think youâre funny.â
âI know I am. Also, thereâs a window bench in the nursery. You donât even have to try to make it Pinterest-worthy.â
You leaned into him, eyes scanning the bare walls. âI can already picture her here.â
Jack pressed a kiss to your neck. âI already do. I see her trying to climb that windowsill. Leaving fingerprints on every square inch of the fridge. Falling asleep on the stairs with a book she couldnât finish.â
Your throat tightened.
You turned in his arms. âYou really love it?â
He looked at you seriously. âI love what it gives you. I love that it lets you breathe. And yeahâI love that itâs ours.â
Later that night, back in your current house, you sat on the floor with your laptop open, scrolling through registry links and bookmarking soft pink paint samples. Jack handed you a cup of tea, then lowered himself on the couch beside you with a quiet grunt.
âIs it weird that I already want to be moved?â you asked.
He shook his head. âNo. Itâs called nesting. I read about it in that chapter you skipped.â
You shot him a look. âYouâre the worst.â
âIâm the one folding swaddles while you build spreadsheets. This is our love language.â
You leaned into him, content. âYeah. I guess it is.â
WEEK 27
Youâd been on your feet all dayâorganizing documents, boxing up odds and ends, making lists of what needed to be moved and what could be donated. Jack told you to slow down three separate times, each time gentler than the last.
But now, at 8:43 p.m., you were barefoot in the kitchen, half bent over a drawer of mismatched utensils, when he walked in, tossed a dish towel on the counter, and said, âOkay. Thatâs it.â
You looked up. âWhat?â
Jack didnât raise his voice. He didnât have to. He crossed the room, took the spatula from your hand, and gently nudged you toward a chair. âSit. Let me take over.â
You blinked at him. âIâm fine.â
âYouâre stubborn.â
You folded your arms. âSame thing.â
Jack crouched in front of you, resting his forearms on your knees. âYouâve done enough today. Let me be the husband who makes you sit down and drink something cold while I finish sorting forks from tongs.â
You softened, your fingers drifting to his hair. âI know youâre right. I just feel useless when Iâm not doing something.â
âYouâre 27 weeks pregnant,â Jack said, voice warm. âYou made a person and folded three boxes of bath towels. Thatâs two more miracles than anyone else managed today.â
You exhaled and leaned back.
Later, when you were curled on the couch with a glass of iced water and your feet propped on a pillow, Jack settled next to you and tugged a blanket over both of you.
âHouse is gonna feel real soon,â he said.
You nodded. âSheâs going to be born there.â
Jackâs arm slid around your shoulders. âWeâll bring her home to that nursery. Hang that weird mobile you picked that I still donât understand.â
âYou said it was âavant-garde.ââ
âI was being polite.â
You smiled, tired and full. âWeâre really doing it, huh?â
âWe are.â
You rested your head on his chest. Jackâs hand drifted instinctively to your belly, and stayed there.
âHey,â you said after a minute. âThanks for making me sit.â
Jack kissed the top of your head. âThanks for letting me.â
WEEK 30
You caught him standing in the doorway of the nursery around 9:00 p.m., arms folded, shoulder braced against the frame like he was keeping watch.
The room was nearly done. Diapers in bins. Chair assembled. Books on shelves. But Jack wasnât looking at any of that. He was staring at the window, like he was imagining the light that would come through it in the early mornings.
You leaned against the opposite side of the doorway, watching him.
âWhatâs going on in that head?â you asked.
He glanced over at you. âJust thinking.â
âDangerous.â
Jack cracked half a smile but didnât move. âI keep picturing her. Not just baby-her. Grown-up her.â
You walked toward him. âWhat version?â
He tilted his head. âSeventeen. Wants to borrow the car. Has someone texting her who I probably donât like.â
You laughed. âYouâre already dreading a boyfriend?â
âIâm already dreading anyone who gets to be in her world without knowing what it cost us to build it.â
That stopped you.
Jack finally looked at you thenâreally looked. âSheâs not even born yet and I already know Iâd lay down in traffic for her. And I know how fast people can break things they donât understand.â
You rested your hands on his chest. âYouâre not going to be scary.â
Jack raised an eyebrow.
âWell. Youâll look scary. Army vet. ER attending. Perpetual scowl. Built like you bench-press refrigerators for fun.â
He snorted. âThanks.â
âBut youâll love her in a way no one will mistake for anything but devotion.â
Jack leaned down, pressed his forehead to yours.
âIâm not good at soft,â he murmured.
âYouâre good at us,â you whispered. âThatâs all sheâll need.â
He pulled you into his arms then, one hand resting flat against the curve of your belly. âSheâs gonna hate me when I make her come home early.â
âSheâs gonna roll her eyes when you insist on meeting everyone she ever texts.â
Jack grinned. âDamn right.â
You laughed into his shirt. âYouâre so screwed.â
âI know.â
But he held you a little tighter. Didnât say anything else. Just stood there in the dim nursery, one arm wrapped around the two of you, as if holding his whole world in place.
WEEK 32
Youâd read the pregnancy forums. The blog posts. The articles with vaguely medical sources claiming the third trimester came with a spike in libido. You thought youâd be too sore, too tired. Too preoccupied.
What you hadnât expected was the absolute onslaught.
It was like your body had one setting: Jack. Crave him. Need him. Get him here, now, fast.
Heâd just gotten home from a late shift, dropped his keys in the bowl by the front door, and disappeared into the shower while you laid in bed attempting to not whine out loud. That resolve lasted six minutes.
When he walked into the bedroom, towel low around his hips, water dripping down his chest, you didnât even mean to say it:
âIâm gonna die.â
Jack froze.
He crossed the room in seconds. âWhat is it? Whereâs the pain?â
You were already on your back, one hand pressed to your belly, the other covering your eyes.
âNot pain,â you groaned. âJust hormones. God, Jackâthis is insane.â
He crouched beside you. âYou need to describe whatâs happening.â
You peeked at him from under your hand. âI need you. I need you.â
Jack stilled. Blinked. Then dropped his forehead to your shoulder with a long exhale.
âChrist. You scared the hell out of me.â
âIâm sorry,â you mumbled, laughing into your wrist. âI justâIâm desperate. I thought it would go away. Itâs not going away.â
He lifted his head. Smiled. âDesperate, huh?â
âYouâre not helping.â
âI think I am.â
Jack kissed your temple, then your cheek, then hovered over your lips. âYou sure youâre good?â
You reached for him. âNo. Iâm feral.â
He didnât waste another second.
What followed wasnât franticâit was focused. Jack stripped you with efficiency and reverence, lips brushing every newly sensitive part of you. Your belly. Your hips. Your breasts. He murmured to you the whole timeâgentle things, grounding things.
âYouâre beautiful like this,â he said, kissing the swell of your stomach. âYouâve been patient. Let me take care of you.â
âPlease,â you whispered. âI feel insane.â
âI know. Iâve got you.â
He slid inside you slow, controlled, the way he always did when he wanted to make it last. But tonight, there was something more behind itâurgency without rush, intention without pressure.
You clawed at his shoulders, moaning into his neck. âJack, Jackââ
âRight here.â
âI missed you today.â
âI missed you too. I always do.â
You wrapped your arms around his neck, legs tightening around his waist. The angle shifted, and everything inside you splintered.
âOhâGodâdonât stopââ
Jack groaned, teeth catching your jawline. âYou feel so good, sweetheart. So damn good.â
He guided you through it, one hand braced behind your head, the other cradling your hip like youâd break without it. When you came, it was with his name on your lips and tears at the corners of your eyes.
He followed seconds later, low and deep and steady, body shaking over yours.
Afterward, he didnât move. Just curled around you, one arm anchored under your shoulders, the other stroking your belly in long, soothing sweeps.
âStill dying?â he asked eventually.
You huffed a laugh. âLittle bit.â
Jack smiled into your shoulder. âGuess Iâll keep checking your vitals.â
He pulled back just enough to kiss your chest, then your stomach, whispering something you couldnât hear but felt down to your bones.
When you shifted against him, needy again already, he looked up with a low laugh. âYouâve got to be kidding me.â
âJack,â you breathed, âIâm not done.â
And Jackâpredictable, capable, ready-for-anything Jackâjust grinned.
âI never am with you.â
The second round was slower. Deeper. You rode his thigh first, panting against his neck, clinging to his shoulders while he whispered filth in your earâsoft, low things no one else would ever hear from him. He touched you like he already knew exactly what youâd need next week, next month, next year.
And when you collapsed against him again, trembling and sore and finally, finally full in every sense of the wordâhe kissed your forehead and said, âYouâre everything.â
âI love you,â you whispered.
Jack tucked your hair behind your ear and kissed your cheek.
âGood,â he murmured. âBecause Iâm not going anywhere.â
WEEK 35
The third trimester had turned your body into a full-time performance art piece. You were a living exhibit on discomfort, hydration, Braxton Hicks, and the high-stakes negotiation of shoe-tying. Youâd stopped fighting the afternoon naps, started rotating three stretchy outfits on a loop, and made peace with the fact that gravity was no longer your friend.
Jack had adjusted too.
Without comment, he now drove you to every appointment. Without asking, he refilled your water before bed. Without blinking, he gave up half his side of the bathroom counter for the ever-expanding line of belly oils, cooling balms, and half-used jars of snacks.
But tonight?
Tonight he came home to find you crying at the kitchen table over a broken zipper on the diaper bag.
âSweetheart.â
You looked up, cheeks blotchy. âIt broke. It broke, Jack. And it was the only one I liked.â
âHey, heyâbreathe.â
You sniffled. âIt had compartments. It had mesh.â
Jack took the bag gently from your hands, and examined the zipper like it was a patient in trauma.
âLooks jammed,â he said. âNot broken.â
You stared at him. âYou donât know that.â
He looked up. âI do.â
He walked over to the toolbox without fanfare, and returned two minutes later with a small pair of pliers. Thirty seconds after that, the zipper slid closed like nothing had happened.
You burst into tears again.
Jack set the bag down and pulled you into his arms. âHormones?â
You nodded into his chest. âI love you so much.â
He smiled against your hair. âYou want to take a bath?â
You sniffed. âWill you sit on the floor with me?â
âIâll bring the towel and everything.â
Which is how twenty minutes later you were in the tub, steam curling around the mirror, your swollen belly just breaching the surface, while Jack sat on the floor, reading your baby book aloud like it was scripture.
âSheâs the size of a honeydew,â he said, tapping the page. âStill gaining half a pound a week. Lungs developing. Rapid brain growth.â
You hummed. âSheâs been moving a lot today.â
He smiled, reached over, and rested a palm over your belly. âShe likes the sound of your voice.â
âShe likes pizza. She tolerates me.â
Jack leaned over and kissed your temple. âShe already loves you.â
You sighed, settling deeper into the water. âSheâs going to love you more.â
Jackâs voice went quiet. âThatâs not possible.â
You looked over.
He was watching you like he was memorizing the moment. Like he knew it wouldnât last forever and wanted to hold every second of it.
âSheâs got the best of you already,â he murmured.
You shook your head. âYouâre the one whoâs been steady through everything. Sheâs gonna know that.â
He kissed your hand. âSheâs gonna know we did it together.â
And you believed him.
Even through the tears, the discomfort, the slow shuffle from couch to fridge to bedâyou believed him.
WEEK 36
Jack came home with a basket.
Not from the store. Not from a delivery service. From the hospital. Carried under one arm like it was made of glass.
You were on the couch, half-watching a cooking show, half-rubbing the spot where the baby had been kicking for the last ten minutes straight. Jack came in, dropped his keys, and didnât say anything at first.
He just set the basket on the coffee table and said, âRobby made me promise I wouldnât forget to give this to you tonight.â
You blinked. âWhat?â
Jack gestured toward it. âItâs from the ER.â
Inside: a soft blanket. A framed photo of the team crowded around a whiteboard that read âBaby Abbot ETA: T-minus 4 weeks.â A pair of hand-knitted booties labeled âPerlah Originals.â A stack of index cards, each one handwrittenâDanaâs in looping cursive, Collinsâs in all caps, Princessâs with hearts dotting the iâs. Robbyâs simply read: Your kid already has better taste in music than Jack. Congrats.
You turned one of the index cards over, reading Danaâs note about how you were going to be the kind of mom who made her daughter feel safe and loved in the same breath.
âI didnât know they even noticed me,â you whispered.
Jack rubbed slow circles against your bump. âThey notice what matters to me.â
You looked at him.
He shrugged. âYouâre my wife. Youâre not just around. Youâre part of everything.â
The baby kicked again. Hard enough to make you gasp.
Jack smiled, leaned in, and kissed the place sheâd just moved. âShe agrees.â
WEEK 38
Youâd read about nesting, but you thought it would look more like baking muffins at midnightânot following Jack from room to room like his gravitational pull physically outweighed yours.
He didnât seem to mind. Heâd brush his hand down your back every time you passed, help you off the couch like you were recovering from surgery, and kiss your temple every time he walked by.
By Thursday, the baby bag was packed and parked by the front door. Youâd zipped it, unzipped it, and re-packed it twice just to check. And when Jack got home that evening, he nodded at it, then set something down beside it with a quiet thunk.
You glanced over. âWhatâs that?â
âMy go-bag,â he said simply.
You raised an eyebrow.
Jack nudged it with the toe of his boot. âArmy-issued. Carried this thing through two deployments and six different states. Thought itâd be fitting to bring it into the delivery room.â
You blinked. âYou packed already?â
He nodded, unzipped the top, and tilted the bag open for you to see: a clean shirt, a hand towel, a toothbrush, a few protein bars, and a worn, dog-eared paperback you recognized instantly.
âThat one?â you said, surprised. âYou always said you hated it.â
âI did,â he admitted, zipping the bag shut again. âBut itâs your favorite. I read your notes in the margins when I miss you on long shifts.â
You crossed the room and leaned into him. âYouâre something else.â
WEEK 40
You woke up at 2:57 a.m. with a tight, rolling wave of pressure low in your spine. It wrapped around your middle like a band and didnât let go.
Jack was already shifting beside you. Years in the Army meant he didnât sleep deeplyânot when he was home, not when you were pregnant.
âYou okay?â he asked, groggy but alert.
You exhaled shakily. âItâs time.â
He sat up immediately. âHow far apart?â
âSix minutes.â
âLetâs move.â
By the time you got in the car, the contractions were coming fasterâsteadier. Jack didnât speed, but he gripped the steering wheel like the world depended on it.
You were wheeled in through the ER doorsâbecause of course you were going into labor at the hospital where Jack worked. Princess met you at triage with a knowing smile.
âSheâs in three,â Princess said. âPerlahâs setting it up now.â
You were halfway into the room when Jack froze.
He turned to Collins at the desk. âPatel?â
âStuck behind a pileup on 376,â Collins said. âSheâs trying to reroute.â
Jack muttered something under his breath and scanned the monitors. âWhereâs Robby?â
âDown in trauma. Heâs finishing up a round.â
Jack didnât wait. He left you in Princessâs care and went straight for the trauma bay.
Robby was wiping his hands on a towel when Jack stepped in. Hoodie half-zipped. Scrubs wrinkled. Wide awake.
âSheâs in labor?â
âSheâs in active labor,â Jack said. âAnd Patelâs not gonna make it, butââ
âYou want me in the room,â Robby finished.
âI need you in the room.â
Robby dropped the towel. âDone.â
When Robby stepped into your room, you exhaled like someone had lifted a weight off your chest.
âHey, doc,â you muttered through a contraction.
âYouâre in good hands,â Robby said, glancing between you and Jack. âYouâve got half the ER out there whispering about it.â
âTell them if they bring me chocolate, they can stay,â you joked.
Perlah dimmed the lights. Princess wiped sweat from your forehead. Robby took your vitals himself and kept your eyes steady with his.
Hours blurred together. Jack never left your side.
âYouâre okay. Iâve got you.â
âYouâre doing perfect.â
âSheâs almost here.â
Then everything started to move faster. Robby gave a nod to Princess and Perlah.
âOne more push,â he said. âYouâve got this.â
Jack leaned close, his forehead against yours. âCome on, sweetheart. Right here. Youâve got her.â
And thenâ
A cry. Loud. Full. Brand new.
âSheâs here,â Robby said quietly.
Jack didnât move at first. Just watched. His eyes were wet. His hand covered his mouth.
Princess handed her to you, swaddled and squirming. Jack kissed your forehead and brushed a tear off your cheek.
âSheâs perfect,â he whispered. âYou did it.â
Later, after theyâd cleaned up and the room was quiet, you watched Jack walk over to the bassinet. He held up a camouflage onesie.
âOh my God,â you said. âSeriously?â
He looked over, completely straight-faced. âThis is important.â
âYouâre impossible.â
He kissed you once, then again. And held her like heâd waited his whole life.

Cooking question I'm too embarrassed to ask someone IRL: how easy or hard is it to accidentally poison yourself?
I know not to eat things that are too old (past the best-by date, changed color etc), I know not to eat things that were burned. I know to be careful about handling raw meat. I know how to store leftovers. I know to pay attention to instructions on the package and to check if the package is damaged etc.
But at the same time... well, a lot of cooking advice I've seen over the years includes some variation of "try things out, see what you like!" and I'd kind of like to do that. But if the results turn out inedible, I'd like them to be "inedible" as in "tastes very bad" and not "inedible" as in "going to upset your stomach" or "send you to the hospital"
If I try to cook/bake/roast/fry/whatever a food that can be eaten raw, like fruit, what are the odds that the result will be safe to eat?
What about lettuce? I'm aware it would probably taste bad, but would it be safe to try?
If I mix random liquid-y things from my pantry to make a sauce for whatever vegetables&meat I'm frying, what are the odds the result would be safe to eat? (Assuming all the components are edible by themself, I'm NOT talking about cleaning solutions or dish soap or whatever)
What might be some questions I don't even know I should check?
If I try to cook/bake/roast/fry/whatever a food that can be eaten raw, like fruit, what are the odds that the result will be safe to eat? If I mix random liquid-y things from my pantry to make a sauce for whatever vegetables&meat I'm frying, what are the odds the result would be safe to eat?
100% safe. There is a ZERO (0%) percent chance of accidentally creating a poison when cooking a safe-to-eat-raw food item.
You're not going to accidentally create a poison when you mix spices, sauces, or various edible ingredients together.
It's just not how chemistry works. With no exception I can think of, you can't take one safe-to-eat plant or animal and cook it or mix it with another in a way that will create a toxic substance.
Cooking lettuce to eat is safe. Cooking whole fruit is safe. Mixing a hundred sauces together is safe. Go for it.
I could take a sample of every single individually edible item in my fridge, pantry, and spice cabinet, blend it all into a big slurry, cook it & eat a portion of that concoction with confidence that I won't die from it. While it may be gross and taste bad, it won't actually harm me. It won't be a poison, no matter how many different types of food ingredients are tossed into the pot.
I cannot guarantee that you will never upset your stomach, because you could be sensitive to or allergic to an ingredient that I don't know about. It's not a poison to all humans, but it'd be uncomfortable to you. You can only learn about that through experience.
What CAN be dangerous:
Improper sterilization and improper technique can accidentally leave poison-producing bacteria or mold to breed when canning or fermenting foods.
Eating large amounts of a couple specific foods can be risky. There's not a lot of these, so here's a list of the big names to keep an eye on:
Cassia (common) cinnamon has a chemical that is toxic in larger quantities, but harmless in small quantities. If you eat 2 teaspoons a day, every day, you'll run into trouble. If you use Ceylon cinnamon instead, you can eat pretty much as much as you want.
Don't eat a whole nutmeg. It's wonderful when used sparingly, but can be poisonous in large amounts. Same rule as Cassia cinnamon: 2 teaspoons a day, every day, will get you into trouble. Eat less or less often.
Eating too much Liver (the organ) can cause copper toxicity and Vitamin A toxicity. It's great for you when added to a meal once a week, or a couple times a month, but shouldn't be eaten daily or in huge amounts.
Don't swallow cherry pits. They're generally harmless when swallowed whole, because they pass through digestion unscathed, but if they're crushed or cracked open first they release a compound that turns into cyanide when digested. Our body handles cyanide pretty well, but 4-5 cracked pits can become harmful. So: Don't chew them, and don't swallow them on purpose.
There are some foods which need special preparation to be made safe. They're safe COOKED, but not RAW.
Cooked beans & legumes are safe to eat. But if you're starting from a totally DRY bean or lentil (canned are pre-cooked) make sure to soak them in water for several hours and boil until they're FULLY COOKED before you eat. (Fully cooked is when you can crush them easily with a fork, with no gritty or hard center) Undercooked or uncooked beans & legumes can fuck up your guts real good. Very painful, horribly unpleasant, but probably won't kill you.
Cassava (the root vegetable that tapioca is made from) MUST be thoroughly cooked before eating. Raw cassava can be toxic. It's another cyanide bro.
Don't eat raw potatoes - always cook them. If your potatoes have sprouted, don't eat the sprouts & peel any green skin off. Tbh tho, an adult would need to eat at least a pound of green potatoes to get sick. Be reasonably cautious about it. Don't feed green potatoes to small children.
--
Note: This advice is intended for someone who shops at a grocery for their food, not someone who is foraging for ingredients or is growing their own. There's a lot more opportunities to poison yourself when working with whole plants in the wild, and not the prepared-for-sale ones at a store.

DAY OUT
summary: in which ellen and y/n spend the day together shopping.
word count: 1.7k
warnings: use of y/n, insecurities that may be triggering,
notes: i am not proud of this part. heavily debating on re-writing it but wanted to get something out :)
Š property of rowdyluv ; do not copy and re-upload as your own - anywhere. do not place my work inside AI codes, do not translate.
The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow over the quiet downtown streets. Inside the car, Y/n sat unusually quiet, her gaze lost in the reflection of passing buildings and people on the window. Her thoughts swirled like leaves in the autumn wind, each one heavier than the last. Each store they had visited had been a letdown, a sea of fabric and lace that seemed to mock her rather than offer a solution to her dilemma. She had hoped that dress shopping would be an exciting adventure, a bonding experience with Jack's mom, but it had turned into a tiresome quest with no end in sight.
Ellen, noticing the weight of her silence, offered a gentle, "You okay, sweetie?"
Y/n sighed, "I don't think I'm going to find anything. Nothing seems to look right on me."
Ellen, with a knowing smile, reached over and gave her hand a reassuring squeeze. "You've got to be positive about it, darling. If you go in thinking that way itâs going to be even harder. Youâll be stuck on negativity."
"But it's true," Y/n protested, her voice barely above a whisper. "I've tried on so many dresses, and none of them looked right." She swallowed down the lump in her throat. âI knew if I wore any of those I would only embarrass Jack.â
Ellen's smile didn't falter. "You could wear a paper sack and Jack would still think you're the prettiest girl in the room," she said, her voice filled with the warmth of a mother's unconditional love. "Trust, my son is as smitten as a kitten with you. Has been from a young age. Learning that the two of you finally started dating was a celebration for Jim and I.â Ellen sighed.
Y/n felt guilty for lying to Ellen about her and Jackâs current relationship status but that was Jackâs provocative. If he wanted his family to be under the same impression as the public.
Ellen parked the car with a hopeful smile. "This is it," she said, pointing towards the last store on their list, a quaint little boutique nestled between a bakery and a bookstore. "I have a good feeling about this one."
Before they could even step out of the car, she turned to Y/n with a sparkle in her eyes. "Listen to me," she began, her voice filled with a gentle authority. "Jack loves you for who you are, not what you wear. But I know how much you want to look amazing for him, and I'm here to tell you that you do. In every dress you've tried on today, you've looked beautiful. It's all about finding the one that makes you feel like the beauty you are, okay honey?â
She nodded and offered up a small smile towards Ellen.
Ellen could see the doubt still lingering in her eyes, so she took a moment before they got out of the car to speak from the heart. "You know," she began, "Jack's always had a way of seeing the best in people. And you, my dear, are the best he's ever seen, even when you two were little. You're smart, kind, and you have a spark that lights up any room you walk into."
Her eyes searched Y/n's, hoping her words would resonate. "Now, I know you're feeling down about the dresses, but let's go in there with an open mind, yes?" She offered her hand and led Y/n to the storefront entrance, her own excitement for the search not waning. The bell above the door jingled sweetly as they entered the boutique, and the scent of fresh flowers and fabric softener greeted them.
The store was a treasure trove of gowns, each one more exquisite than the last. Y/n felt the weight of her own inadequacies lift as they were greeted by a kind saleswoman who offered them individualized help. As they explained what they were looking for, the woman led them through racks of dresses, holding up each one with a hopeful smile.
Y/n's eyes scanned the rows of dresses, each one seemingly more beautiful than the last, but none of them seemed to be 'the one'. She felt her hope dwindling with every step they took, every dress that was deemed 'not quite right'. The pressure to find the perfect dress for devils event grew heavier with each passing moment.
Ellen noticed her growing discouragement and took a deep breath, her eyes scanning the store with renewed determination. "Let's try this," she said, leading Y/n to a secluded rack at the back of the store. "These are the last ones we're looking at."
Y/n's eyes fell upon a dress that was unlike any she had seen that day. It was a stunning blend of elegance and boldness, with the top half in black that flowed into a fiery red at the bottom. It was as if the dress had been painted by the very emotions she was feeling - the uncertainty of black meeting the passion of red. The irony of it being Devils colors too playing on the back burner.
Her heart skipped a beat as she whispered to Ellen, "Look at that one," pointing to the mannequin that held the captivating dress.
Ellen followed her gaze and nodded approvingly. "Ah, that's a unique choice," she murmured. "Let's see if it's available in your size."
âThatâs the only one actually.â The sales rep says, having overhead the conversation. âWe only received two of them and never got any more of them. A young lady came in two days ago purchased the other one for a charity event.â
Defeat tumbles into Y/n like a freight train. The unlikely chance there would only be two and the other would be purchased for a charity event too.
âBut if youâre wanting a red dress, look at this one.â The sales rep says happily.
Y/nâs eyes followed over to where the sales lady had moved to, and fell upon a simple yet elegant red midi dress. It was modest yet held an undeniable charm that called to her. She walked over to it and gently touched the fabric, feeling the softness of it beneath her fingertips.
"This one," she murmured to herself.
The sales rep handed Y/n the red dress with a knowing smile, as if she had read her mind. Y/n slipped into the dressing room, her heart racing as she pulled the garment over her head. The fabric was like a second skin, hugging her in all the right places, the silky softness a comforting embrace. As she turned to look in the mirror, she gasped.
The dress was a vision of understated beauty, with a neckline that whispered sophistication and a fit that accentuated her figure without revealing too much. The way the fabric fell around her, it was as if it had been designed just for her. Y/n felt a surge of hope, the kind that lights up a room after a storm.
It was surprisingly comfortable, not a single pinch or tug. It was like the universe had conspired to put this dress in her path, a beacon of light in the sea of frills and lace she had been navigating. She stepped out of the dressing room, her cheeks flushed with excitement.
Ellen's eyes widened as she took in the transformation. The young girl she watched grow up entered the dressing room timidly but exited with confidence that exuded from her body like none other.
"Oh, honey," she breathed, "you look absolutely stunning."
Y/n twirled around, watching the fabric dance around her legs, the dress was perfect it was so right and so her it had letting out a small giggle.
The dress was simple, a compliment to her, yet it had a certain charm to it that seemed to call out to all who looked at her. It truly was, as if the universe was pulling them to this boutique for this moment.
The sales rep, a petite woman with a sharp eye for fashion, clapped her hands together in delight. "It's like it was made for you," she exclaimed. "The way it hugs your curves and makes your skin glow, it's absolutely divine!"
Y/n couldn't help but beam at the reflection in the mirror. "It is," she murmured, still in awe. âIâm sorry Iâm just excited because I didnât get to do this in high school. I feel like this my senior year moment.â She smiled.
Ellen's eyes twinkled as she stepped closer to her, wrapping her in a warm hug. "You deserve every bit of this, and more," she said, her voice thick with emotion. "Jack's going to be absolutely speechless."
She flushed at the thought of when Jack sees her in a red dress. Especially when she is repeatedly thinking about how he said âmy girl looks good in redâ It may have been for show but itâs still something on repeat in her mind.
Y/n felt a warmth spread through her chest as she looks back at Ellen, the kind that comes from knowing you're loved and supported. She nodded, her eyes misting over. "Thank you, Ellen. For everything, for coming when my mom couldnât, for being there when he left, for this."
Ellen squeezed her shoulder. "It's what we do for family, or hopefully our future family," she said simply, her voice thick with emotion and a smile as she hands the cashier a card.
âNo wait! I can pay. Donât do that.â Y/n argued searching her bag for her wallet.
Ellen gently took her hand and held it in hers. âJack insisted. He wanted me to use his card for anything we buy you. And right now, this is what we are buying you.â She said with a firmness that didnât allow room for argument.
Y/n felt tears prick the corners of her eyes as she looked at the red midi dress in the clothing bag. It was more than just a piece of clothing; it was a symbol of the love and support she had found in Jack's family, even when Jack had left for the league. "Thank you," she whispered again, her voice thick and trembling with emotion.

The Barbie Movie is confused -- and it is confused on purpose, because it can't actually acknowledge the role that capitalism and white supremacy play in the patriarchal system that it wants to give itself credit for acknowledging. And so the film introduces patriarchy as a force with no agent or system behind it.
Ken, an oafish goof is able to find the concept of patriarchy and transmit it to the entirety of his society simply by learning about it and speaking about it to his fellow Kens. There is no use of force, no political organizing (notably, the Kens try to take over the political system after they have already taken hold of the culture), no real persuasion even -- simply by hearing about patriarchy the women in Barbieworld somehow become brainwashed by it.
This means we never have to really see the Kens as genuine antagonists, we can still laugh at their bizarrely crammed-together multiple dance numbers and forgive them when they, like the women, are freed of the patriarchy simply by women speaking about the fact that sexism exists. Both the origins of patriarchy and the solution to it is as simple as an individual person telling their story.
The CEOs that run Mattel in the Real World in the film are similarly cartoonish and devoid of real agency. They're even portrayed as generically interested in the idea of Barbie being inspiring to girls. The movie can't even acknowledge their profit motive, and it can't make any of the men running the company look too powerful or even too morally suspect -- but the film does still want to have Barbie encounter sexism in the real world and grapple with the harm "she" (the consumer product, and not the social forces and human beings that created her) has supposedly done.
In the Barbie Movie, patriarchy is a genie in a bottle, and no one is to blame - except maybe Barbie herself, since the movie spends a significant amount of time discussing how she is responsible for giving women unrealistic beauty standards.
And so Barbie is depicted as both sexism's victim and sexism's fault. She's dropped into a patriarchal world that the film acknowledges has a menacing, condescending quality -- but the film can't even have an underlying working theory of where this danger comes from, and who had the power to create this patriarchy in the first place, because that would require being critical of Mattel and capitalism.
And in the film, ultimately the real world with all its flaws and losses and injustices is still preferable to Barbieworld, because you get to have such depth of feeling and experience and you get a vagina, so how bad could really be? And hey, when you think about it, the Barbieworld is just an inversion of the real world, isn't it? A world with women in power is just reverse sexist, so it was justifiable for the Kens to want to take over, and what does it say that all things being equal Barbie still would prefer to leave behind her matriarchy and join the patriarchal capitalist world? That's the real world. Real world is struggle and sexism and loss and pain and capitalism and death and we must accept all of it but it's worth it..
It's not that I'm surprised the film's a clarion call for personal choice white feminism and consumer capitalism. I just expected the call to be a little more seductive or in any way coherent. I wanted to have frothy fun, and instead I was more horrified by the transparency of its manipulation than I was by even the most unsettling moments in Oppenheimer.

From Risk to Resilience: How Compliance Obligations Safeguard Modern Organizations

In a world where regulatory scrutiny is at an all-time high and reputational stakes have never been greater, businesses are realizing the pivotal role that compliance obligations play in reducing risk and promoting long-term resilience. While compliance was once seen as a mere formalityâa box to checkâtoday, it's a central pillar of corporate strategy.
In fact, companies that adopt a proactive approach to compliance-based risk mitigation enjoy stronger reputations, smoother operations, and more durable success. As discussed in MaxLearnâs in-depth blog, embedding compliance into your organizationâs DNA can be the difference between survival and setback in todayâs volatile landscape.
Understanding Compliance Obligations
Compliance obligations refer to the set of rules, laws, standards, and ethical guidelines that organizations must follow in their industry or region. These include:
Regulatory frameworks (e.g., data protection laws like GDPR)
Industry-specific rules (e.g., HIPAA for healthcare, SOX for financial reporting)
Internal codes of conduct
Ethical business practices
What makes compliance so critical is that it affects every part of the organizationâfrom how customer data is stored, to how vendors are paid, to how employees interact with one another.
The Link Between Compliance and Risk
Risk can come in many forms: legal risk, financial risk, operational risk, reputational risk, and even environmental risk. What unites them all is the potential for severe disruption if not properly managed.
Compliance acts as a control mechanismâa set of proactive barriers designed to prevent these risks from materializing. Hereâs how:
Legal Protection: Companies that follow laws and regulations are shielded from fines, sanctions, and lawsuits.
Crisis Prevention: Identifying and resolving issues before they escalate protects brand value and internal resources.
Standardization: Compliance introduces consistency in how business processes are executed, reducing the chance of failure or error.
Accountability: Clear rules create an environment where everyone knows their responsibilities, minimizing the risk of misconduct.
When compliance becomes part of your overall risk management strategy, it transforms from a cost center into a value driver.
Common Compliance Risks to Watch For
To understand the importance of compliance, consider the consequences of failing to meet obligations:
Data Breaches due to weak cybersecurity protocols
Financial Misreporting from unregulated accounting practices
Workplace Incidents caused by non-compliance with safety regulations
Regulatory Fines resulting from poor environmental stewardship
Ethical Scandals tied to bribery, corruption, or harassment
Each of these not only brings financial penalties but can also damage brand equity, erode employee morale, and destroy public trust.
Building a Compliance-Centric Risk Strategy
As explored in MaxLearnâs blog, a successful compliance and risk mitigation strategy hinges on five foundational components:
1. Assess Risks Thoroughly
Every organization has a unique risk profile. Conduct regular risk assessments to identify which areas are most vulnerable to compliance failures. This includes analyzing internal workflows, external partnerships, and past incidents.
2. Define Policies and Procedures
After identifying risks, create and document policies that clearly outline acceptable practices, escalation paths, and disciplinary measures. These documents serve as both a deterrent and a guide.
3. Educate Your Workforce
Employees are your first line of defense. Through consistent and engaging compliance training online via platforms like MaxLearn, organizations can ensure that staff are well-versed in their responsibilities and aware of potential red flags.
4. Monitor and Report
Use automated systems to track compliance metrics, monitor behaviors, and generate audit trails. These reports offer visibility into performance and provide critical evidence during regulatory reviews.
5. Refine Continuously
The regulatory world evolves constantly. Maintain agility by frequently revisiting your compliance program, updating training, and fine-tuning policies to reflect current best practices.
Technology: A Compliance Enabler
Gone are the days of filing cabinets and manual checklists. Today, businesses have access to powerful tools that enhance compliance performance:
Learning Management Systems (LMS): MaxLearn, for instance, helps businesses deliver effective compliance training programs that are interactive, customizable, and trackable.
Risk Management Software: These systems analyze real-time data to alert leaders of irregularities and ensure corrective action is taken quickly.
Policy Management Tools: Streamline the creation, approval, and distribution of internal compliance documents.
With the right tech stack, organizations can build a compliance function thatâs both effective and scalable.
Embedding Compliance into Company Culture
Compliance cannot be the sole responsibility of the legal or HR departmentâit must be a shared value across the entire company. This is where culture comes in.
An organization with a strong culture of compliance ensures that:
Ethical decision-making is encouraged and rewarded
Employees are empowered to report wrongdoing without fear
Leadership models integrity and transparency
Compliance is built into KPIs and performance reviews
Fostering such a culture reduces resistance, improves adoption of compliance initiatives, and ultimately strengthens risk posture.
The Business Case for Compliance
Beyond avoiding penalties, companies that lead in compliance often find themselves ahead of the curve. Hereâs why:
Attracting Investors: A strong compliance track record signals low risk and high reliability.
Winning Customers: Consumers prefer brands that are transparent, secure, and ethical.
Retaining Talent: Employees stay longer when they feel safe, respected, and aligned with company values.
Unlocking Opportunities: Compliance can be a gateway to new markets, certifications, and partnerships.
Ultimately, a commitment to compliance is a commitment to excellence.
Final Thoughts
Compliance is no longer a reactive measureâitâs a proactive strategy that smart organizations use to build resilience, trust, and operational integrity. By aligning risk management with compliance obligations, businesses can face uncertainty with confidence and turn regulation into a source of competitive advantage.
To explore real-world applications and practical strategies for strengthening compliance in your organization, check out MaxLearnâs full blog article on Risk Mitigation Through Compliance Obligations.
Whether you're a compliance officer, HR leader, or CEO, the time to prioritize compliance is nowâbecause in a world full of risks, resilience begins with responsibility.

"Women could be found working on construction sites, if only occasionally, including in specialized roles such as carpenters and masons. The research is found in the article, âAppropriate to Her Sex?â Womenâs Participation on the Construction Site in Medieval and Early Modern Europe,â by Shelley E. Roff.
She surveyed a wide variety of records from throughout Western Europe, including tax records, inventories of wages paid on construction sites, and municipal accounts, and discovered numerous instances of women working alongside men on construction sites as far back at the 13th century. Most of these women were employed as day laborers, carrying out tasks such as moving water and building supplies around the sites, digging ditches and serving as assistants to bricklayers and stonemasons. For example, in the Spanish city of Seville during the 14th century, women were hired to dig trenches for the foundation of a new city wall, while at the nearby city of Toledo, one or two women were hired each day for the construction of the cityâs cathedral, where they gathered lime and worked on the roof. Meanwhile in the French city of Toulouse, almost half the laborers working on the Perigord college site were women. Ross also finds several examples from England and Germany.
Roff notes that previous historians have seen many examples of women working on construction sites in their research, but they had believed that these were just abnormal exceptions caused by economic crises, or because the male population had been killed off through war or disease. But her new study suggests that women construction workers were more than just odd occurences. She explains that âthe expansion of urban centers starting in the thirteenth century set off a trend of increasing female employment for day laborers and in the crafts, which only began to contract on occasion for women working in the crafts in the sixteenth century with ensuing economic crises.â
She also notes that in almost all accounts surveyed, the women were paid at a lower rate than the men, which would make the âa cost-effective solutionâ for site supervisors looking for ways to reduce expenses. The women who took these jobs would have come from societyâs poor â those women who could not maintain their households and families just from their husbandsâ (if they had one) income.
Roff also finds records showing women taking part in specialized building trades. In London in 1383, Katherine Lightfoot is recorded as the supplier of 2,000 painted tiles for bath in the Kingâs palace. Meanwhile, tax records from Paris during the years 1296 and 1313 reveal the existence of two female masons, a tiler and a plasterer. These women were not poorer individuals, rather they were the wives of male craftsman, and in some cases their widows. The 15th-century French writer Christine de Pizan noted in her book The Treasury of the City of Ladies that craftswomen, âshould learn all the shop details so that she can properly supervise the workers when her husband is away or not paying attention.â
Women workers could be found on the medieval construction site, Medievalists.net

My dear lgbt+ kids,
I feel like advice on loneliness comes in only three flavors:
"It's all mindset, learn to embrace being alone and you'll never feel lonely!"
"Your head is lying to you, you have friends and they love you!"
"Here's a list of places you can go to hang out with people and make new friends!"
Those are usually well-meant and I'm sure there are situations where they do help someone feel better - but they're definitely not universally applicable.
The first one is even plain wrong: connection is a basic human need. You can't just "change your mindset" and turn that off, the same way you can't turn off your need for food or air or mental stimulation. Humans are group animals. We absolutely need social interactions to stay healthy and sane. It is true that some people do not need a large number of friends and are happiest with just one or two close friends, and it is also true that some people prefer to fulfill their social needs in other ways than what's traditionally defined as friendship - but that's not something you can (or should) try to train yourself to do, that's just natural differences and preferences!
The only thing you could "train" yourself to do would be to learn to ignore your social needs and bury them deep down under layers of denial... and you don't need me to explain to you why that's a very unhealthy idea. It's sad enough that so many people have to do that to not lose their minds in loneliness, we certainly don't need to celebrate an unhealthy coping skill as a "superior mindset".
The other two at least get a bit closer to the truth: the solution for your unmet need is not to kill the need, but to fulfill it... but that's easier said than done, isn't it?
After all, "Don't worry, your friends love you!" doesn't help if you have no friends. Loneliness is not always "all in your head": Maybe you moved to a new place and don't know anyone there. Or you cut off contact with all your friends after a big fight. Or you grew up neurodivergent (or got mentally ill at a young age) and had no chance to learn how to make friends at the age most kids do, and by now you have been friendless for so long you don't even know where to start.
Same with "just go to a bar and talk to some new people" or "Take a pottery class and you'll meet some interesting people there" - that's not factually wrong, but also not helpful if the reason you feel lonely is that you struggle to make friends (or even struggle to just talk to people). Which can also be part of neurodivergence or mental illness, or just be a part of your personality (shyness), or be a result of isolating circumstances (like having spent a lot of time in a closed environment, for example a long hospital stay, and now feeling unsure how to connect with people outside of that environment).Â
And those are just a few of the many, many possible explanations why someone may be lonely that require a more individualized approach - which is why we canât solve loneliness with any one-size-fits-all solution.
That may be a somewhat disappointing-sounding conclusion in a letter on loneliness, so let me also tell you: hope and support are always within reach, even if it might take some time and patience to find them. The key is to remember that your feelings are valid and that you're not alone in your struggle.
First, recognize that admitting that you feel lonely, and wanting to take action based on that feeling, is a sign of strength, not weakness. Youâre pretty insightful for recognizing your loneliness and super brave for wanting to reach out!
Secondly, be kind to yourself and allow yourself to take small steps. Small, actually manageable steps are crucial in any healing journey! If itâs not an option to just go to the bar or that pottery class, then itâs okay to start somewhere else. Maybe a therapist, a support group, or even online communities can be valuable âtraining sessionsâ for social connections. Even reaching out to one single person can make a significant difference over time. Your journey to finding companionship and connection might be different from someone elseâs, but that doesn't make it any less valid (or achievable!).
Lastly, do consider embracing new activities that you may enjoy - but not just for the sake of meeting others. Itâs important to nurture your own happiness and well-being when youâre feeling lonely. Those can be activities you can try out alone and even at home, for now! Anything that enriches your life is good. Long down the road, maybe it will lead to opportunities to connect with others, but even if it doesnât: itâs important to incorporate new experiences into your life.
While there isn't a universal solution to loneliness, I truly believe there is a path forward for everyone. It's all about finding what works for you.
With all my love,
Your Tumblr Dad

A new era
The galactic council has decided for the first time to put more than two different species in the same spaceship.
Many debated on what to put, how many, why. It went on for months. Then the council settled on three species, just above the maximum. They chose one individual of each so that if things turned sour, the casualties would be minimal. They chose the individual of each species carefully for the crew to be balanced.
A Kerox for its strategy and strength. They are a proud people, and not for nothing. They always had an advantage in wars thanks to their cleverness and ferocity. The council secretly hoped it would become the leader to preserve the truce with its species.
A Primavix for its natural scientific and medical abilities, as well as their extended knowledge of the world. The council wanted its inherent strength to be able to outbalance the Kerox if it turned too arrogant and obviously knew that the crew needed a medic.
A human for its adaptability. They would hope that it would become the link to tie the other two together and that it would learn fast in times of need. They chose one that could pilot and repair a ship, one that knew how to fight to not get taken down by the Kerox.
All those three species could breathe the same air and lived in groups. They could all be bipedal which would help with cohesion. They were generally all willing to find solutions to their problems when they arose.Â
On paper, it was perfect. But the council knew, reality was quite different. Their main concern was the Kerox. It was allowed on this mission to âmake it feel specialâ, it had a great influence on its other members. They hoped this would keep the truce holding.
ââ
It was the day, the day where the Three Pillars of a new era would meet. The streets of the Capital were bustling with agitation. In each sector, anticipation could be felt from everywhere. In their own ways, everyone was impatient to see the beginning of a new era.
There was one clear path to the new vessel waiting for its inhabitants. The aliens sat on both sides, each stayed in their peopleâs designated spot. Everyone was here. They knew who was supposed to come, but they wanted to see, to smell, to listen, to feel them even if only from afar.
Then, they came.
First, there was the Kerox. Everyone knew about him, he was Scozar, The Scorching Sun. He was recognisable by his golden spear with sunny patterns on it.
He slithered his way on the path, his four powerful and muscular limbs propelling him forward. His grey scales took a tinted emerald hue under the powerful rays of moonlight. To the species that used infrared visions, he was cold, barely visible.
He stopped as naturally as he would jump and got on his two bottom legs. He stood tall and proud with his spear held high in a hand, his claws on the other one were usable. His sharp gaze passed on the crowd, like he was choosing which one he was going to eat.
The crowd fell silent. A low grumble could be felt through their bodies. His golden eyes were glowing with satisfaction. He was preparing something, wasnât he?
Thatâs when the blue indigo feathers on his head, spine all the way to the tip of his tail, rose up. A few species backed down. He was even taller that way. There were black dots on each of his feathers. It was unnerving to have the feeling of being watched by so many eyes.
When seeing the reaction of the crowd, he somehow stood even taller with his head even higher. His teeth could be seen from there, his sharp, sharp teeth, as sharp as his gaze, as sharp as his claws. It made some species dizzy and terrified. He seemed to bask in the fear of others.Â
The aliens wondered if the galactic council was right to let a Kerox participate in such an important mission. Most of the species knew the galactic council had no choice but to put a Kerox there, they were too proud not to let them participate in such an event. They were afraid it would fail.
The Kerox went on the podium, naturally, taking the middle spot.
Then the Primavix came, one of the Ancient Ones, they saw the dawn of the intergalactic alliance.Â
They also made their entry on four legs. This time, it was slower, easier to track, like time had made its way through their body. Their tail balanced as they walked, at the end of it there was an appendage to grab objects.
They had a white cloth on them. It has lived for many years as well. Under the tattered gown, their black exoskeleton blended on their bones. They were thin, some species wondered how something this slim could survive without collapsing from starvation.
They rose up on their bottom legs. Instead of being arched on themselves, they had a straight posture. They put their two hands together in front of them. They raised their head, but instead of looking more aggressive, they radiated with sacred wisdom.Â
Their head was a mouth with a giant sphere on the top, the rays reverberated on it. A carapace shielded the back of its head. With their smooth black skin and their rugged white robe, they looked like a statue, the statue of an ancient god.
They walked elegantly towards the podium and stayed on their two bottom legs still in the same position.Â
The aliens were already more confident in the success of the councilâs leap in the unknown. With a Primavix, a creature older than the council itself, the Pillars will have all the knowledge they need.
Finally the Human came. She too, was known by the people. She was Maena, The Ghost, captain of corsairs well known for their help for the galactic council.
She arrived on two legs. Her black coat on her shoulders floated behind her. It was held together by a yellow chain. She was bright to those with infrared vision. She advanced solemnly, with her arms behind her back. The crowd shifted, she had something that the other two didnât have.Â
She stopped near the crowd. Her two brown eyes seemingly stopped on each one of the species watching every detail. Her expression was one of calm devoid of aggression, like an apex predator with no worries for their survival. Some species went silent again.
Then, her expression cracked. She showed her teeth, a gesture well known as a smile. She waved her hand at the crowd, a friendly movement. She now radiated with confidence and serenity, a quiet strength. The crowd relaxed, some even tried to mimic her.
The mask of danger was replaced, she was now a good friend. A friend to the galaxy, to the aliens present here and to the two other Pillars. Seemingly satisfied, she moved again and got on the podium.
She was small, smaller than the two other Pillars, smaller than the average human even. The crowd murmured, what could she do if the Kerox wanted her dead? But she was a human, and a human who knew how to fight.Â
Everyone had mixed feelings about the crew in front of them. They stood in the emerald light of the moon, side by side, they looked strong. But each one of them was so different, this strength could as well shatter them from the inside.Â
And they were only three, that wasnât enough for an entire crew. The ship was small. Big enough for all of them, yes. But so small in comparison to the others. It was like the council wanted to spare the least resources they could, like they themselves didnât believe in the ânew eraâ.
But everyone cheered. They cheered to not anger the Kerox, they cheered in honour of the ancient Primavix, they cheered because the Human seemed to like it.

Itâs hard for you to depend on other people, you need to be your own leader when it comes to your career. As a driven individual, you thrive on challenges and are always seeking new opportunities to grow and learn. You have a natural ability to think outside of the box and come up with innovative solutions to problems. You're not afraid to take risks and push yourself outside of your comfort zone, because you know that's where growth happens. When it comes to your career, you're not content with simply following the crowd. You need to be in control of your own destiny and chart your own path. You have a strong sense of purpose and direction, and you're not afraid to pursue your dreams with relentless determination. The perfect career for you is one that allows you to constantly evolve and adapt. You need to be challenged, stimulated, and engaged in your work on a daily basis. With your competitive spirit and innovative mindset, you're sure to make a real impact in whatever career path you choose

Writing Characters with a "Victim Mentality"
Victim Mentality - a type of mindset in which an individual believes they are a constant target of misfortune and have no control over their situation.
Individuals who adopt a victim mentality typically experienced a traumatic event that lowered their self-confidence.
Rather than coping with failure in a healthy and productive way, individuals with a victim mentality resort to chronic pessimism and defensive patterns of behavior.
By fostering self-pity and minimizing positive events, individuals with a victim mentality struggle to accept productive feedback and fail to adopt a growth mindset.
Signs of Victim Mentality
The main sign of victim mentality is a failure to assume personal responsibility.
Individuals who have a victim mentality have a hard time accepting accountability for their own actions in a situation.
Common behaviors associated with victim mentality include:
making excuses,
blaming others for misfortunes,
resenting other peopleâs accomplishments, and
believing nothing will change.
Catastrophizing bad things and refusing to develop solutions are also signs of victim mentality behavior.
Thought patterns associated with the victim complex cause individuals to view situations from an exaggerated and unrealistic standpoint.
Causes of Victim Mentality
Victim mentality is a learned behavior and personality trait that usually starts during childhood. Below are common causes of victim mentality:
Avoidance: Victim mentality is an emotional barrier that prevents individuals from displaying vulnerability. Individuals who fear and avoid vulnerability use the victim mentality as a way to distance themselves from their relationships and personal goals.
Betrayal: Repeated breaks in trust reduce an individualâs security and confidence in their relationships. Some people adopt a victim mentality after experiencing numerous forms of betrayal.
Manipulative tendencies: Individuals who seek constant validation from others employ their victim role for attention. Manipulative behavior and entitlement cause this form of victim mentality, as individuals use their sense of powerlessness to gain control over their loved ones.
Past trauma: Learned helplessness can develop from traumatic experiences that cause extreme feelings of helplessness. In some situations of abuse, adopting a victim mindset is a coping mechanism for handling physical or emotional pain.
Impact of Victim Mentality
Victimhood has a negative impact on your mental health and overall well-being.
Negative thinking can result in low self-esteem and self-sabotage behavior.
Allowing these thought patterns to persist can also make you feel frustrated, depressed, and isolated from friends and family members.
Addressing Victim Mentality
When addressing someone with a victim mentality, avoid using labels to describe their situation.
Remain open and calm as you support and guide them through finding help.
While you should validate their feelings, avoid outwardly agreeing with them.
The goal is to eventually reach a point where they feel comfortable taking actions that resolve their negative thinking and assume responsibility for their own life.

Difficult Placements in the Natal Chart
*Difficult: defined as "not easy; needing effort or skill to do or to understand"Â
I'm going to be discussing what placements I believe are more difficult to have in a natal chart. I just want to emphasize that this is my opinion (Tamra Judge voice) . Let's remember that all placements have their pros and cons, you are not defined by a few unfavorable placements. Of course, aspects and orbs matter... Chiron with 3 squares to your personal planets will be more difficult to handle than if you had Chiron trine Sun and Venus, for example.
One last thing: Difficult placements can be the ones with the most value. They teach you things, make you stronger, and they can make you an inspiration to people dealing with similar situations. Difficult placements have their positives too, which we will discuss.

đ§żđđ§żđđ§żđđ§żđđ§żđđ§żđđ§żđđ§żđđ§żđđ§ż
Sun conjunct Chiron: These natives go through a lot of pain, physically and emotionally. They go through many trials and have to learn how to heal again and again. I feel like the universe puts them through a lot so that one day they can help others, which is nice but damn. This aspect can easily make someone slip into addiction, depression, and bitterness if the energy isn't channeled correctly. These people are prone to psychic attacks that lead to chronic illness, specifically migraines.
Positives: Can become a healer, can help other people through their problems, can become an inspiration, selfless character.
Sun square/opposite Neptune: These natives struggle when it comes to their fragile ego. They are deeply sensitive and feel things intensely. They absorb energies meaning if they're around negative people, they themselves will become negative as well. It's so important for these people to be surrounded by positive and successful individuals. Sun square/opposite Neptune is also easily manipulated and taken advantage of since they tend to see the world through rose-colored glasses. Throughout life, this placement can make an individual feel unworthy and inferior which can lead to a victim mentality that's hard to break. Watch out for escapist behavior because these people are prone to addiction.
Positives: These people are very psychic and should work on their spiritual abilities. Becoming religious or spiritual can be very beneficial for them. They have the most impressive imagination and are super creative.
Capricorn Moon: I've noticed that people with Capricorn as their moon sign have difficulties with being vulnerable and asking for help. They are the people that hold their family and friends together - they are the strong one. Oftentimes, they become responsible too early in life, which probably cut their childhood short if they had one at all. Their sense of responsibility is their strength but its also a weakness; they don't want to be thought of as "weak" or "needy" so they hold their feelings in. Like Pisces, when their emotions come on strong they need an escape, Capricorns rely on work and their sense of duty. They are prone to becoming workaholics and will ignore painful situations by working all the time.
Positives: Likely to become successful career-wise, very driven and ambitious, people trust them, they make great friends because you can rely on these people.
Aquarius Moon: Similar to Capricorn, Aquarius Moons struggle with their emotions and how to express them. Their emotions might not even be felt in some cases. They look at things intellectually and in a detached way; they think "Should I be sad about this?" or "Am I supposed to be angry?". Growing up, they probably didn't have someone that they could emotionally confide in or even worse, they could've been punished for showing their emotions. I've noticed a lot of Aquarius Moons have a detached sense of family, they could've been adopted or they just feel "different", they could even look at themselves as the black sheep.
Positives: Can come up with creative solutions to problems, a great friend, nonjudgemental and open minded when it comes to others and their life experiences.
Moon square Pluto: This placement could've been the victim of abuse, especially from their mother. Their mothers could have struggled with mental illness and unfortunately these natives could've been the scapegoat and received the backend. Their mothers could be careless one second and the next they could become obsessive; the obsessiveness usually shows when the native leaves home and creates space between them. This leads to distrust in people, women especially. Moon square Pluto people cling onto any sense of control because they grew up in utter chaos. Unfortunately, these people can deem self destructiveness as "normal" since it was what they knew throughout their whole childhood.
Positives: If these people conquer the negative traits brought on by this aspect, they could become great psychiatrists or therapists. These people are devoted and loyal.
Moon square Saturn: This placement could've struggled with feeling unsafe in childhood; like they couldn't count on their parents. Their mothers were less affectionate than normal and they didn't receive the comfort that they needed, which leads them to being uncomfortable with affection in adulthood. They probably went through some tough changes in childhood which is why they loathe change as an adult. This placement could've felt like they had to parent their parent, specifically their mother. And their mothers could've vented to them about problems that they had no business hearing, cutting their childhood short. Their mothers could go to them for advice a lot of times. They could've felt like a burden growing up, usually an emotional burden but more likely a financial burden.
Positives: Strives to become successful, these people are independent and self sufficient.
Virgo Venus: Virgo Venus isn't too bad but can make a native struggle with self esteem issues. I put this on my list because these people attract lovers that need fixing. Venus in Virgo love to fix people and make them "better". The people they're trying to fix could be toxic and destructive; the "bad boys/girls". But having their partner in focus and ignoring their own needs makes them resentful after awhile. I've noticed this placement attracts creeps and stalkers as well because they have a vibe of innocence and purity. In love, they can grow to be very demanding and make their partners feel inadequate in the process. They also get the ick quite easily, meaning its easy to turn them off.
Positives: Is reliable in love, a lady in the streets freak in the sheets type, definitely someone you want to bring home to your family, will take care of you.
Venus in the 8th house: Venus in the 8th house natives tend to be possessive and jealous in love. It's not that they view their partners as property (they can but this placement alone doesn't indicate that imo), they are just extremely loyal and expect their partner to be as well. From my experience, Venus in the 8th house people are ready to give it all up for someone they love. They want to merge and become one with their partner. Their intensity comes from a good place but once a relationships ends, it can be very very painful for them. Love and relationships trigger transformations for these people and sometimes triggers transformations in their partners. They come out of relationships a stronger and better version of themselves but this is usually achieved through heartache. This placement also has a real fear of abandonment and will stay in toxic relationships for this reason.
Positives: Loyal and devoted in love, is a ride or die person. They are very alluring and magnetic. Not easily forgotten.
Venus in the 12th house: I believe these natives are too good for the world. I say this because, like 8th house Venus, they are ready to give it all up for love. Venus in the 12th house is self sacrificial to a fault, oftentimes neglecting themselves in relationships. Love can bring subconscious pain to the forefront, attracting lovers that make them face hidden problems they hold within themselves. Venus being in the house of the hidden, it's not uncommon for these individuals to be the "other woman/man" or be in secret relationships for whatever reason. They can be easily manipulated and taken advantage of since they're hopeless romantics. This can lead to them having to regulate how much love they have for someone; they'll hold back their feelings and needs in fear of being naive and walked on.
Positives: They love people genuinely and whole heartedly, they see the best in their partners, they form deep connections in love.
Venus square/opposite Saturn: These natives may have grown up in an environment that lacked physical affection. This creates a person that is uncomfortable in love and becomes very regulated with how they express their emotions. They may be inherently insecure when they're young which creates doubt around being loved; they're prone to thoughts like "why would anyone love me?" which then creates trust issues. These people also struggle with self-love, they have feelings of inadequacy and compare themselves to others a lot. Since they have low self esteem, they often attract partners that treat them badly and the worst part is they think they deserve it. These people aren't fans of PDA or physical touch and often express love through gift giving or acts of service.
Positives: Self sufficient, usually has a "glow up" later in life, once this placement is conquered (could be the second half of life) they are unstoppable and have so much love for themselves.
Mars in 4th, 8th, 12th house: Mars doesn't feel very comfortable in water houses, this is especially true if the native has a lot of squares and oppositions to their Mars or water house lord. Mars ignites the emotional watery nature of the houses which can lead to sudden outbursts. Mars in the 4th house natives could have dealt with a prominent mother who dominated the household (4th house). This could indicate that a father figure was absent or estranged. Either that, or his role was weak compared to the mothers. Mars in the 4th house could also signify an aggressive mother and hostile home environment. Mars in the 8th house natives experience extreme emotions a lot of the time, this can include anger, obsession, and jealousy. Since Mars is in the 8th house of transformations, you can expect these people to go through many many painful changes in their life because Mars here speeds things up. These natives are prone to accidents involving vehicles, tools, gym equipment, etc. so watch out for transits! Mars in the 12th house could suppress their martian traits; sexuality, motivation and anger... or it could be the opposite, they could become addicted to sex and have a wicked temper, depending on the sign and aspects. Trauma related to sexuality and the inability to stick up for oneself could be prevalent here as well, or they could be downright violent towards others. These people can either lack motivation or become extremely restless. They also probably have crazy vivid dreams and aggressive hidden enemies.
Side Note: Mars in water houses can either be horrible or not so bad, it really depends on the rest of the chart. I included this because the negatives can be extreme.
Mars square/opposite Pluto: These natives usually had a childhood filled with violence and witnessed a lot of strong emotional outbursts. This makes the native think that reacting aggressively or even violently is normal. They could've been abused by their peers, siblings or parents. As they grow up, physical violence, fights, and anger issues could arise. They can get offended really easily and people just assume they're picking fights. Has a lot of physical energy that can manifest as aggression.
Positives: If they channel their energy correctly, they could become talented athletes. Has enough energy to meet their goals and then some.
Saturn in the 1st house: These people have had it hard since childhood. These natives struggle to be comfortable within themselves due to being surrounded by critical people and even being bullied growing up. The judgmental voices they grew up listening to becomes the voice within. They could struggle with body dysmorphia and have deep rooted insecurities. They are confused within themselves and their insecurity could make them miss a lot of great opportunities.
Positives: These people often have a deep sense of responsibility and can be very successful in their career, depending on the rest of the chart.
Saturn in the 7th house: Saturn, the planet of restriction and blockages, sitting on the 7th house of partnerships can make a native go through a lot of trial and error when it comes to one on one relationships. These people could be shy and fear intimacy due to their self esteem especially when they're young. Since Saturn is very karmic in nature, these people could attract toxic relationships or partners that don't fit well with them in order to learn necessary lessons. These people should be careful of going into business with people and also should be careful of divorce settlements (sign that prenup!)
Positives: After Saturn return, these natives will finally meet an adequate partner and since the universe put them through trial and error, they'll be ready for it. Has meaningful life long friendships.
Chiron opposite ASC/Chiron in the 7th house: These peoples' lessons come in the form of lovers. Betrayal, deceit, heartbreak, and infidelity can make their way into these natives lives. It doesn't have to be those themes although it can be. Depending on the sign of your 7th house, those are the themes that'll teach you the lessons and open up old wounds. For example: Leo in the 7th house (Aquarius rising) you may attract and deal with partners who, worst case scenario, are selfish, egotistical, and want everything to revolve around them. This could trigger your childhood in which your parents fought with each other and forgot about you in the process. Another example is Aries descendent (Libra rising) you may deal with partners who are aggressive, dominating, and maybe even violent. This could trigger old wounds from childhood: maybe you lived in a home where domestic violence was prevalent. You get the idea.
Positives: You're not doomed in love by the way, it's just 7th house signs and their themes that will show up throughout your life. The examples I used were pretty extreme to get the point across. The positive here is that most of the time, the themes are much more discreet. For the 7th house Chiron in Leo example I used, it could be that your partner is self centered and you recognize and treat this. Could be an easy lesson learned (well it better be because if not it's gonna keep showing up).
Chiron in the 11th house: Chiron in the 11th house is a placement I personally have using Placidus. These natives never feel like they fit in, they feel like they're looked at as the outcast, like they don't belong. This is usually the consequences of being bullied as a child and made to feel less than. These people could go through a hard time in life where they have no friends and feel like they have no one to turn to. Loneliness could be a prominent theme in their lives especially when they're young. Chiron in the 11th house would rather have one on one connections than be part of a friend group.
Positives: Could be an advocate for people sharing similar experiences, knows how to be a good friend, values friendships and knows how to be alone.
Chiron conjunct Pluto: I have this one! I've noticed that certain painful experiences; death, heartache, betrayal, rejection affect me SO much. Growing up my mom would just brush these things off and say that they're a part of life. But to me, these things would happen and I would grow to fear them immensely. For example; my grandmother who I was super close to passed away when I was 17 and ever since then I've been terrified of my parents dying. Painful experiences really change people with this aspect, for better or for worse.
Positives: These people are forced to confront their deepest fears which in turn makes them stronger. They have the power to transform themselves after traumatic events.
Lilith in the 1st house: Lilith is the exact opposite of what "women should be" which rubs people, men specifically, the wrong way. It also rubs older generations the wrong way or whoever believes in traditional gender roles. Here in the 1st house, these natives embody Lilith which, you guessed it, rubs people the wrong way. They usually have trauma related to males trying to put them down or put them in their place, even as a child. Growing up, adult women could talk about them negatively as well. Everywhere they go, there's people that look at them sideways; they're either disgusted or intrigued. They often experience people hating them for "no reason". The real reason for this reaction is because they make people feel threatened just by being. They were also sexualized from a young age and could've had older people, mostly men, commenting on their bodies.
Positives: Extremely magnetic and alluring, blessed with beauty, intense aura and presence, always gets what they want.
Lilith in the 10th house: Similar to Lilith in the 1st house, these natives have a tendency to set people off just by being themselves. This creates a lot of disturbance in the workplace; people either love them or hate them but either way their reaction to them is extreme. Male authority can either sexualize them or belittle them making the workplace uncomfortable. Lilith being Lilith here, they may use this power to their advantage and climb the ranks so to speak. Rumors about them swirl around the workplace because people are just obsessed.
Positives: Strong people, very attractive, can use their good looks to their advantage, will grow to be a boss.
18° in Personal Planets/1st house/6th house/8th house: 18° is the shadow side of Virgo. Having this degree could indicate serious illness, tragedy, and critical misfortunes playing a role in your life. This doesn't have to be the native themselves experiencing these things, but it will affect them whether that be through family, a partner, friendships, etc.
Positives: I feel like this could be true but not always so if you have this degree anywhere you're most likely safe. But then again you might not be. Good luck. :)

I'm definitely forgetting a bajillion placements but it's all so negative so I'm going to end here. I'm not trying to be negative I'm just shining a light on certain placements because they're fucking hard to deal with!!!
To the people that say no placement is bad or negative: how does it feel to have rainbows and sunshine shooting out of your fucking ass?! Be forreal.
Life is hard, we all know that. How could we appreciate the fortunes if we didn't have misfortunes? For all the negative there will be positive too. Here's to all of us and our shitty fucking placements đ
