The worst thing about being a hero in any fiction has to be to not have any clue as to when your story "stopped". Not knowing when The Plot has ended and when you can rest.

Imagine being Odysseus... 10 years of Troy, you think you're done ? Nope, your story only just begun and now you're gonna have 10 more years of battle, treasons, plot twists, deaths of loved ones etc...

What I'm saying is... Yes he's back with Penelope *we* know that it's the "happily ever after" but him? He's got no idea

So now I'm picturing the aftermath and the anxiety, possible paranoia, nightmares, anxiousness when there's a storm near Ithaca

I'm not saying that Odysseus necessarily spiralled into stress and paranoia, although I wouldn't blame him.

I'm just saying that as long as one lives, there will always be twists. And how can one react when the absolute worst is meant to be in the past, but life goes on?

A week or two after Ithaca saga

Odysseus: (eating lunch with his wife and son) -get it?! I responded to his rhetorical question with a literal answer-

Penelope: (nodding along, unfazed)

Telemachus: ….(nervously sips drink) (chokes and spits it out)

Odysseus: My boy, are you alright?

Telemachus: Yeah- uh, just, what kind of wine is this?

Penelope: (tastes her cup, hums) interesting. It doesn’t look like wine, either…

Odysseus: (frowns and smells it) ….what is this..?

Telemachus: (looks into ‘wine’ pitcher) ….father?

Meanwhile, up in Olympus:

Ares: (giggling) he’s finally trying it-

The thing about Monster that I'm currently obsessed with: the way Odysseus humanizes his enemies as he dehumanizes himself. He correctly describes the motivations of the Cyclops, Circe, and even Poseidon which takes a level of understanding that people struggle with under the best circumstances. But then in the same verse he describes himself from the view of the Trojans. ("Does a soldier use a wooden horse to kill sleeping soldiers because he is vile?")

and of course the whole song is "Monster". If Odysseus can't stop seeing his enemies as people (seeing his own son in the Trojan infant), if that is what is killing his men and if there is no future where he makes it home as the person he is, then of course he has no choice but to stop being a person.

In the spirit of the Ithaca Saga release here's some OdyPen! I cried SO much at the line "There's a girl I have to see" and at Would you Fall in Love with Me Again so it was only fair I made then crying too. Anyways, it was amazing being part of the fandom during the realeases (although I only arrived this year) so I wanted to make something for it!

I like the idea of Athena being gigantic even in her owl form because it would be obvious that she is not a regular owl, something divine. Definitely not of this world.(And I like the image of big owlthena on Odysseus's shoulder)

Anyway, imagine that Odysseus fell asleep one day, and Athena let him because it'd more efficient if he got proper rest.(No, she is not getting attached to this mortal, how dare you assume such a thing)

For whenever Epic comes to a stage, I think when one of odysseus enemies shows up for their song they should have their name light up above the stage to look like a boss health bar. It would also help the general public that might not be familiar with the original story.

Also i think it would be heartbreaking to see “Eurylochus” show up during “mutiny”.
