sirius black x indian!fem!reader
warnings: tooth rotting fluff, mentions of injuries, crying james, angst(?)
a/n: hi everyone, sorry this took so long for me to get out, i’ve been sick and then i got my period and then i was just stacked with so much work from uni! it really was a nightmare but i hope you’re all doing well!
when sirius black stumbled through james potters fireplace with blood and cuts all over him, you could say james was in shock. his best friend of nearly 6 years was in a horrible state and he wasn’t sure if he was going to make it. crying out for his parents they immediately apparated to st mungos where they knew sirius would be able to get the help he needed.
as james paced back and forth outside of the operating theatre where they had six medi-witches tending to sirius, james swallowed the lump in his throat as he picked up the phone down the hall to call y/n, he knew she needed to know what had happened to sirius.
through teary gasps and stumbling words james was able to tell y/n that sirius was at st mungos in horrible condition, after consoling her best friend she rushed to her car and drove unexplainably fast to get to sirius, she couldn’t help herself but pray on her way there that everything would be okay.
as she stumbled through st mungos only stoping to catch her breath outside of sirius’ door she pushes her way in where james and euphemia are sitting next to sirius’ beds with red rimmed eyes and swollen faces.
james and effie smile sadly at her before they give her a quick hug and some privacy with her lover.
“oh sweetheart” y/n murmurs as she cups sirius’ cheek and closes her eyes. she sinks to her knees and holds sirius’ hands and starts to pray for him, her hymn floods through the halls of st mungos and the potter family can’t help but feel the tears stream down their faces as the pain in y/n’s voice breaks their hearts.
the medi-witches stand in solidarity outside the door of sirius’ room and can’t help but notice that sirius’ vitals seem to be improving and that his face seems to be twitching almost like he’s trying to wake up.
“y-y/n” his voice rasps and y/n can’t help but look up in shock and delight as his dark eyes seem to squint looking for her. she tugs his hand and his pout vanishes to be replaced by a tired smile as he locks eyes with her.
“my darling boy” she murmurs as she cups his face again, “what would i have done without you? you are the air in my lungs and the blood in my veins, never would i be able to live without you” she whispers as she thanks lord krishna for bringing her lover back to her.
“they called you unspeakable names butterfly, i couldn’t stand there and listen to them disrespect you because of your blood purity” he smiles weakly and she can’t help but fall further in love with him.
“your soul is the most beautiful thing about you, sirius orion black” she leans forward to press a gentle kiss on his forehead and his face blushes automatically.
she moves to sit on the chair next to sirius’ bed but he grasps her wrists and pulls her closer.
“lay with me please butterfly, i need to know you’re here with me”
she can’t help but feel her heart flutter and she gently cuddles next to him and hums a soft hymn to lull him to sleep, this time her voice is soft and filled with adoration for her beloved.

Braj Ki Holi (Ch-3 ig)
MASTERLIST
We snuck out of the house and walked to Yamuna ghat. It wasn’t too far from the house. It barely took us ten minutes to reach there. Late at night, with no soul in sight near the river, I was walking with Krishna in silence. We didn’t talk much on our way, but it didn’t feel awkward. It felt nice. The air permeated with flowery fragrance from the nearby temples present at every nook and corner in Vrindavan. Krishna had been away from Vrindavan for around five to six years, yet he was able to find his way.
The streets were empty. There were some dry colours and flowers strewn on the road from the morning celebration. A car would occasionally pass us, but other than that it was all quiet. Had I been alone, I would have felt a little creeped out by walking outside so late in the night. It was a wonder that I was trusting myself with Krishna. In today’s time, you can’t trust the people whom you know well, forget a stranger. I could hear my mother gasping if I ever told her about Krishna and about me walking with him at night with no adult to accompany us.
“There you go. This is the place I was talking about,” said Krishna, as he walked down the steps of the ghat. He sat down on of the dry stairs and patted the ground.
I looked around. We were away from the street into the dark river, which appeared darker as the night progressed. The ghat was lined up with a few diyas that were on the verge to extinguish. The tiny flames of the diyas sparkled in the dark waters of Yamuna. The starry night contributed to enhance the beauty of the river and the moon occasionally peeped out from the clouds.
“Is that all you are going to do over here? To sit and look at the stars?” asked, Krishna with a light chuckle. “I thought I had charmed you, but it looks like the stars are competing against me.”
“Rolling my eyes, I turned my head towards him. “Come on, Krishna, we both know you are lovelier than the stars. Besides, my stars will feel sad, if I don’t glance at them before I spend the entire night gazing at you lovely face.”
He smiled and picked a pebble and threw it with a flick of his wrist. The pebble drowned in the water with a splash and he looked at me, his head tilted towards the left, saying, “I would say, you are lovelier than me.”
Laughing, I threw a pebble into the water. “Now that’s a compliment, I would like to hear from you. Tell me, honestly, Krishna. How many people have you found ‘lovelier’ than you?”
Without waiting a second, he answered, “Radha and you.”
Radha. A lovely girl with a beautiful smile that lights you up and being around her feels like curling up in a warm blanket on a cold winter night. Maybe it was a best friend thing, perhaps? Just like Krishna, she took an immediate liking to me and I to her.
“Tell me more about Radha and you. What were you like when you were a child here? How was your bond?” I asked.
“Okay, I will, but first, you need to allow me to put my arm around you,” said, Krishna.
“You have my permission.”
He gently moved his arm around my shoulder and sighed. He threw his head back up and looked at the sky, and then focused his eyes on me. I couldn’t help myself but break into a goofy grin and began laughing.
“What now?” said, Krishna, laughing with me.
“Just answer my question now.”
He moved his index finger in circles over my arm and began. “Radha and I were inseparable. She was born a week earlier than me and she always took advantage of that by making me listen to her when we were were little kids. But then I grew up to be the most mischievous kid and troubled Radha a lot. Even though I created a lot of mischief and pranks on Radha as well as on my other friends, I loved them all dearly. Yashoda kaki whom I as a child often called her as my own mother was so gullible to my mischief. She would always defend me and pamper me as if I were her real son. Kaka and Kaki joke that I never miss them but it’s not true. The day I had to leave Vrindavan and them, I had cried bitterly even though I was smiling and teasing all of them that I would come back and play again.”
Krishna paused and stared at the river for a while. I remained silent and looked at him. His eyes were not looking too bright like he usually did, and a small nostalgic smile graced his lips. I placed my hand over his shoulder and whispered, “Krishna…”
He blinked and moves his fingers through his hair, saying, “Oh God, I wasn’t supposed to be all sentimental now. But anyway, my childhood was the best and the most beautiful one. I wish every child should have a childhood like mine filled with laughter, fun, and love.”
“Now, let me ask a question,” said, Krishna. “What’s your favourite childhood memory?”
“Now that’s a difficult question, for I have many of them. I think it should be the day I attended my first day of dance class. I was no prodigy that I was able to dace flawlessly, but the first day I entered the premises, it felt like a magical world to me. I guess, as children we find magic everywhere even in the smallest and mundane things and growing up we lose that magical vision. The large Nataraja murti appeared as if Shiva himself was calling to me and the senior dancers wearing colourful sarees looked like those apsaras with flowers in their hair. I still remember that day when I was returning home, I couldn’t sleep that night and was eagerly waiting for my next class.”
“I think the world could be better if we kept a bit of magical vision with us. Growing up, we find wonderment and magic to be silly or childish and become such boring individuals,” said, Krishna who was now tapping his fingertips on my arm.
We grew quiet after that and stared at the river. I could hear the gentle lapping of the water and Krishna’s breathing. The night grew deeper and the lone cars which often passed sometimes stopped coming. At home, I would have felt sleepy by now and would have dozed off. Surprisingly, I had enough energy in me to keep talking and listening to him.
“Do you remember what I told you in the morning?” Krishna suddenly asked.
“There were many things you told me, Krishna.”
“I told you in the car after singing. Don’t tell me you forgot already.”
My nervous laugh gave me away…
“Our singing session, Bhaishmi! You forgot that. How could you?” Krishna whined, which made me laugh even more.
“Okay, you beautiful dramatic boy, I remember now. What song should we sing?”
He had the audacity to smirk and demand me. “Sing a song which will remind me of you when we go our separate ways after Holi. And yes, it should also remind you how pretty I am.”
I facepalmed and muttered to myself and giggled. “Okay fine. I have two songs for that. Let me sing for the first case where we go our separate ways.” 'Separate ways' left a bitter taste on my mouth.
‘Mere dil ki raahaton ka tu zariya ban gayi hai
Teri ishq ki mere dil mein kayi Eid mann gayi hai.
Tera zikr ho raha hai tera zikr ho raha hai
Ibadat ki tarah.
Tujhe yaad kar liya hai O tujhe yaad kar liya hai aayat ki tarah…’
I successfully made Krishna blush! Surely, his blush wasn’t visible, but he looked down bashfully and smiled, causing me to chuckle.
He cleared his throat and with a twinkle in his eye, said, “And what’s the next song?
I scratched my nose and began singing the next song, praying to the Gods above to not let my voice falter.
'Kadmon ko sambhalein, nazron ka kya karein.' My finger lifted his curls away from his eyes and I looked into his eyes while singing the next line. 'Dil ko sambhale zubaan ishq hua hi hua.'
We didn't know when our hands interconnected with each other. He clasped my hand and locked his fingers with mine, his thumb gently brushed against my skin as I continued with my song.
'Aise chale jab hawa... ishq hua hi hua.'
Krishna leaned in to my eye level, and I saw the moon in his eyes with the little flames of the diya dancing across his face occasionally.
"Toh ishq ho gaya?" He asked, a teasing smile on his lips, but his eyes carried a different expression, as if he was asking it earnestly and not for fun.
I gently pushed him away with a shy smile. "Dhaat iss time bhi flirt karna hai?"
To the ones who love the boys written in romance novels over which we fawn over, you would love Krishna now a lot more.
He grabbed my wrist gently, stopping me from moving away from him and sang in the softest voice possible. 'Dil kahe ke aaj toh chupalo tum panaho mein ke darr hai tumko khodunga.'
And another moment straight out of my bollywood dreams came up when he pulled me towards him. We were far too close to each other. His face was mere inches away from me and if I would step in towards him, our lips could easily meet each other. This definitely wasn't something I had signed up for before planning for my Holi trip.
My hand went to his chest and I felt his heart beating rapidly. Boy, he was nervous too just like me, but unlike me, his nervousness never showed up on his face.
'Dil kahe sambhal zara khushi ko na nazar laga ke darr hai main toh ro dunga,' his finger traced my chin and I swear to God, I felt I was going to melt into a puddle under his touch. One moment we were talking and now we were on the verge off.... I can't say it out loud or more like I can't write it here.
I knew what the other lines were in the song. Krishna had paused and looked at me expectantly, so I continued with the song. 'Ho karti hu sau vaade tumse baandhe dil ke dhaage tumse ye tumhe na jane kya hua.'
He leaned in towards my ear, whispering, "Ab toh pakka ishq ho gaya hoga."
Groaning, I moved myself away and he too left my hand laughing while teasing me, "Arey sharmao nahi batao zara."
I climbed up the stairs of the Yamuna ghat when I heard him say, "Krishna agar woh tumse pyar karti hai toh woh ek baar palat ke dekhegi."
Obviously I didn't turn back and focused on the stairs. "Now I am no Simran and you are no Raj." My words had no effect on him because he started saying, "Palat." As if I was going to palat.
"Palat."
"Ghanta palat."
"Palat."
The Gods above in the heaven probably loved Krishna a lot because I did exactly what Simran did and Krishna began dancing on the Ghat making me worry about him falling into the river.
I had turned around to tell him not to become Raj at 2am only to realize that I was Simran in the scene.
He jogged towards me and swept his arm across my shoulder. "Toh jaaneman ab pyaar ho gaya?"
I huffed and replied, "Pyaar ka nahi pata lekin thappad khane ka kisika chance zarur ho sakta hai."
We erupted into a joyful laughter within the next second. His arm never left my shoulder nor did I leave his side as we walked back home in the dead of the night.

Where The Road Took Me Pairings: The Avengers x Desi!Female!Avengers! Reader
Tumblr media
(GIF credits to owner) Warnings: Mild swearing I guess??? Like I tried to not swear but like sometimes it just enhances it you know what I mean :) Other than that there's not much. Slightly unsupportive parents? Summary: You join the Avengers after an extensive military career. You're looking forward to your first Navratri since retiring, only for the Avengers to have a.... pillow fight?! Word Count: 2,527 words A/N: This is my first fic, so please be nice!! I accept constructive criticism, but I might cry :) I know Sam canonical speaks Arabic, so he might be able to vaguely understand Gujrati since there are overlaps, so we're just going to pretend that he doesn't. And if Tony speaks Hindi, cause I read that somewhere, no he doesn't. Also, since deciding on the readers powers, I realised that there's some overlap with Wanda's, so Wanda doesn't exist here.
Y/F/B/N - Your Friend's boyfriend's name
chai - Indian tea made with spices, honestly incredible couldn't live without it mandir - Hindu place of worship, also known as a temple Navratri - 9 day festival, where you dance well into the morning, a time to celebrate with family and friends chakri - Indian snack? Idk how to describe it, but I'll insert a picture here
Tumblr media
Krishna - Hindu god of protection, compassion and tenderness
bhagvan tarma oopar daya le - God have mercy on you
chanya chori - women's cultural outfit, usually worn on special occasions
kurto (plural - kurta) - men's cultural outfit, usually worn on special occasions
______________________________________________
To say the last couple of months had been a whirlwind was an understatement. You had known you were enhanced since you were a teenager. You were quite clumsy and had fallen down a pretty big hill, and it activated a green grow around you. You had walked away without a scratch. And that's how you found out you could generate forcefields around objects and people to protect them.  You had never told anyone, your family was very conservative. They heavily encouraged you to focus on academics, and actively take part in your local mandir's activities. You practised in private though, wanting to make sure you had full control over your powers, and there wasn't any chance you could hurt anyone even if your powers were based on protection. Your family, well mostly your parents, were less than pleased when you decided you were going to enrol in the army, but you had to take some time for yourself to figure out what you wanted. Growing up in an Indian household was great, but your parents also put immense amounts of pressure on you.  You had thought long and hard about what you wanted, and had come to the decision to enrol in the military. It had caused a lot of arguments with your parents, them not wanted to put their youngest daughter in danger, and you wanting to do something on your own accord. Eventually, you had gotten tired of arguing, had packed up and moved to New York and enrolled. Your parents had gradually come around to the fact that this was something you wanted, and whilst they weren't the most pleased, they had stopped calling you tell you to come home. After a while, they had started becoming more supportive and even visited a few times in between your tours. Your relationship with them still had a while to go before it would become like it was before you enrolled, but at least you had your sister. You two had always been close growing up, and whilst she didn't know you were enhanced, no one did, she was the first person you told that you wanted to enrol. She had been very supportive, she had seen that even though you had always got good grades, it was more for your parents rather than yourself. She had been on your side the whole time, and had helped you to move into your apartment in New York.  It all changed on your ninth tour. It was night, and your unit was preparing to go to sleep when you came under fire. Without thinking, you had thrown your forcefield up, praying it worked; you had never tried to protect anything more than a car, and there were 15 people in your unit, and you were all spread out. Your team had looked at you in shock, but you were more focused on making sure the forcefield didn't collapse. The tour lasted another 6 months, and after it ended, you were called to the General's office, where Colonel Rhodes was waiting for you. "Colonel Rhodes, General," you greeted, snapping a salute. "At ease, Major Y/L/N," Colonel Rhodes said, smiling. "I'm sure you're wondering why you were called here today." "I am, yes," you said, slightly confused. "Well, General Hammond here informed me of what happened on your latest tour." You tensed slightly. You had hoped it would be brushed under the carpet, but you should have known it wouldn't be. What would happen now? "The General and I have discussed it, and we feel your gifts would be better utilised in the Avengers. Your military achievements combined with your…. talents would be extremely beneficial in protection. After training with Agent Romanoff, you would be able to work alongside Lieutenant Wilson." You blinked in shock, that was not what you expected. You took a few seconds to collect your thoughts, before responding. "With all due respect Colonel Rhodes, what about my unit?"  This time General Hammond spoke up. "Well Major Y/L/N, you're eligible for retirement after 8 years of service, and you have completed 12 years. If you do not wish to retire, we can always put you on the reserve team. But I feel that this is an incredible opportunity for you. You'd still be serving the country, just in a different way. You'd be
protecting the Earth from extraterrestrials."  You sighed internally. General Hammond was right; it was an incredible opportunity. You had always known you didn't want to stay in the military forever - that was never your plan. You had planned to go back into education at some point to study veterinary medicine or maybe veterinary physiotherapy. Maybe this was your sign.  You could be part of the Avengers and study veterinary medicine. You took a deep breath. "Okay, when do I start?"  And that was that.  Colonel Rhodes flew with you to the Avengers Tower where you were introduced to the team. Natasha put you through a day of rigorous training that left every muscle in your body sore. After that specific form of torture, she had smirked and said "you'll do." You got on with the rest of the team too. Tony are like siblings, constantly exchanging sarcastic remarks and witty banter. You went on run with Sam who was glad he had someone to run at his pace for once, and you often visited local cafes and bakeries throughout the city together after your runs. You sparred with Bucky, wanting to improve at hand to hand combat, since you were more comfortable with weapons. He also gave you pointers on how to use a knife. You talked about art with Steve, not to mention having girls weekdays with Nat.  Tony had offered you your own floor at the Tower, but you have politely declined. Needless to say, you hadn't informed your parents that you had joined the Avengers team, merely telling them that you had retired to study veterinary medicine. It wasn't exactly a lie, just not the whole truth. They had been ecstatic to say the least, they had never liked you being in the military, despite bragging to all their relatives. So you didn't plan on telling them you had joined the Avengers any time soon, preferably never. However, being on the reserve team came with its own problems. It was difficult getting used to being at home knowing you weren't getting called back any time soon. It had taken a while to create a routine for yourself. You decided to sign up for online university, it would have been too much to study on campus when you were still getting used to civilian life.  Slowly but surely, you created a routine for yourself. You woke up every morning, made yourself a cup of chai, and went through any readings you needed for that day, and made sure you had done all the assignments that were due that day. You then went on a run with Sam and sometimes Steve, with Sam showing you his favourite places in the city, often stopping for snacks. You then got through your lectures and seminars. Occasionally, you had to go in for dissections and required practicals, but those were few and far between.  You had gotten into the habit of going to your local mandir, it brought you a sense of peace, and you had connected with other people like you through it. Then you visited the tower for team bonding, depending on what day it was. Sometimes it was training and exercises, but other times it was just watching movies and pigging out on takeout. You hadn't been called on any major missions yet, and you were glad. You were enjoying this new routine, and didn't want it to change. Today was an exciting day for you. It was the first day of Navratri, your favourite Hindu festival. It was a celebration of the Goddess Druga over Mahishasura, the ultimate good over evil. The friends you had made at mandir were at your place, and you were all currently getting ready, and were all going to dance the night away, before crashing at your place and going out for breakfast in the morning. You were hella excited, it was the first Navratri you were celebrating in 12 years. You should have known something was going to happen. You were sitting on your couch, watching your friends panic over the folds of their dupatta, or their eyeshadow, or whether the heels matched their outfit. Personally, you didn't think it was going to matter, since they were going to come off anyway. You had gotten ready ages ago, so you were just snacking on some
chakri, and drinking chai, when your phone went off. You glanced at the contact, and saw it was Tony. You cursed. You had prayed to Krishna that nothing would happen today, but it looked like your prayers hadn't been answered. Sighing, you picked up, putting the phone to your ear. "Hey Tony, what's up?" "How quickly can you get to the Tower?" he asked, words rushed. You immediately went into combat mode, mind going at 100 miles an hour. Looks like the world isn't planning on giving you a break any time soon. "Uh, if I take my car I can be there in 10 mins flat," you reply, grabbing your coat and keys. "Great, see you in 10!" You glanced down and let out a string of curses. You were still in your Navratri clothes. Oh well, you change when you got there. You kept some spare stuff there anyway. You looked over at your friends, who were still in the process of getting ready. You sighed. Hopefully whatever the emergency was wouldn't take too long, and you can still go ahead with your plans. "Hey guys," you called out. "Something came up, so I'm just going out for an hour or so, but I should be able to make it to the venue soon." "Aw, what?" Your friend complained. "We've been planning this for months!" "I know, I'm sorry, but this won't take too long. Y/F/B/N is picking us up, and he still is, I'll just grab an Uber for the way there and come home with you guys." Your friends agreed, and you gave them all a quick hug before sprinting out to your car and rushing to the Tower. Your thoughts were all over the place; what could the emergency be? You reached the tower, using the special Avengers entrance, and mentally prepared yourself to enter the floor. Whatever you were prepared for, it certainly wasn't this.  It was mayhem, sure, but not the The Avengers Tower just got attacked by giant evil super villains mayhem. It was more The Avengers decided to act like 5 year olds and start a pillow fight on the entirety of the common floor.  "WHAT THE ABSOLUTE FRICK IS GOING ON?!" You exclaimed, a mixture of terrified and angry. Had you seriously panic driven to the Tower for this?! Everyone turned towards you, and their eyes widened. You probably looked like a right sight, in full chanya chori, makeup, 4 inch heels and breathing heavily. "Y/N! You look-" Sam stuttered. "You look amazing! Is that a chanya chori?" Natasha cut in, looking very sheepish for a Black Widow. "That's not the point! Today was the first time in ages I actually had plans and I got a call telling me to come to the Tower immediately! Naturally, I think it's an emergency, and rush over, only to find the world's mightiest heroes having a goddamn pillow fight!" You ranted waving your hands about. If it was possible, they look even more chastised, resembling 5 year olds. "I am leaving, and if any single one of you try to call me, bhagvan tarma oopar daya le." You storm out and get into your car, leaving the Avengers gaping like fish. "Damn, I didn't know Y/N could get angry. I mean, she's put up with us for months without getting even slightly annoyed." Tony remarked, causing Rhodey to slap him. You have a great time celebrating Navratri, it's been a while, but you still remember all the moves, and it's nice to spend time with your friends. The next day, after having brunch with your friends, you decide to head to the Tower. No sense avoiding the problem. You take a deep breath before stepping into the elevator, asking F.R.I.D.A.Y to take you up to the communal floor. You exited the floor, and were surprised to find all of the Avengers were there. "Um, hi," you said nervously.  "Hey Y/N!" Steve greeted. "Listen guys, I'm sorry about last-" "Nuh uh!" Tony interjected, jumping up. "We owe you an apology. I should have told you it wasn't an emergency." "Nah it's fine, I was just stressed last night," you say, shrugging, and smile to show all is forgiven. "Come sit down, I wanna hear everything, your outfit looked amazing!" Natasha said. You sat down, grinning and began to explain the story behind why you
celebrate Navratri, and explained the cultural clothes that you were wearing. "That sounds like a lot of fun!" Sam said. "Well, you guys can come today if you want! The festival goes on for 9 days, we were planning to go for at least a couple of the days anyway!" You exclaimed, excited. You loved Navratri, and the whole culture in general, and you really wanted to show the others what Hinduism is about. There were various noises of agreement, you spent a while helping them to order specific clothes for the event - kurtas for the boys and a chanya chori for the girls. You helped Nat and Pepper get ready, and honestly they absolutely rocked their outfits. Natasha was in a maroon chanya chori, with silver embellishments, whilst Pepper was in a cream chanya chori, with black thread detailing. They looked like a million bucks. You were just finishing up on makeup when the boys walked in, and it was safe to say they all rocked their kurtas. Steve was wearing a dark blue kurto, whilst Bucky was wearing an emerald green one. Tony was obviously wearing a red kurto, with intricate gold detailing. Your eyes wandered over to Sam, and your mouth went dry. He was wearing a black Bangalori kurto and looked so good you almost dropped your mouth open in shock. "Stop drooling," Natasha smirked, nudging you, causing you to snap out of it. You stuck your tongue out at her, before speaking up. "You guys look amazing! You all ready?"  After confirmation from everyone, everyone trooped into the elevator. You were driving, since you were the only one who actually knew where you were going. Honestly, the whole night was incredible, and you taught the other Avengers a lot. They genuinely seemed interested, especially Sam, which brought you hope that maybe, one day he'd like you back. Wherever the road takes you, right?

Love Me Blue | Bucky Barnes x Reader (Vaaranam Aayiram)
MY MASTERLIST
Series Masterlist
Summary: This night was surely a dream come true.
Word Count: 2000+
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Tamilian!Hindu!Reader, Sam Wilson
Warnings: References to Hinduism, Death, PTSD, Civil War & Endgame References.
A/N: This is my entry for @bucky-smiles‘s 3K Diversity Writing Challenge! My prompt was to write a fic with a Hindu reader. I decided to write this fic with a Tamilian reader because I am Tamilian. I was born in Sri Lanka and my mother’s side of the family are Hindu. Although I consider myself an agnostic theist, I do enjoy reading the epics of Mahabharata and Ramayana. Back in the 1940s, Bucky had always made it a habit to check out the Stark Expo. Having been interested in the sciences from a very young age, he had often been rather fascinated by the genius of Howard Stark - at least, until things had taken a turn for the worst once he had joined the war. He still remembered the last Stark Expo he had attended. It had been the night before he was to be shipping out to England for the war, and he had dragged Steve out to celebrate; he had also invited two girls to be their dates.
Seeing Howard Stark present a prototype of a flying car that night had been quite the surreal experience. Sure, the Barnes family had been wealthy enough to own a car during the Great Depression and all. But nothing could ever live up to the sheer excitement of witnessing a flying car.
Well, almost nothing.
“You never mentioned that you could drive a flying car…” The man teased as he saw you enter the pocket park after parking Lola.
“You never asked.” You responded, a cheeky grin plastered across your lips as you made your way over to him.
“Well, aren’t you full of surprises?”
“Me?” You quirked your eyebrow at his words. “Are you seriously telling me that I’m the one who’s full of surprises? You’ve been full of surprises all day, Bucky.”
“Guilty as charged.” Bucky beamed, stepping over to kiss you on your cheek. “You look lovely, Y/N. Let me guess, a new dress?”
That cheeky bastard.
“You don’t look so bad yourself.” You commented, having noticed that he had finally managed to cut his hair off, and he was dressed in the finest velvet suit that matched the blue of your dress. “I’ve got to admit. You clean up really nice.”
“I’m glad you could make it.” He told you once he pulled back. “Welcome to the Stork Club.”
You could not help but let out a soft giggle at that. When Sam had told you to ‘follow the music’, you had not understood what he must have meant at first. But it hadn’t taken you that long to realize that Bucky had referred to the music that had always been playing in your heart. You had followed your heart, and it had led you right towards Paley Park.
“So, this is where the playboys of the 40s used to dance the nights away, huh?” You asked him as you stepped towards him, gently throwing your arms over his neck as you took it all in.
It was a rather warm summer’s night, and New York City was as busy as ever. But with the noise cancelling atmosphere in this pocket park, you somehow felt at ease. It felt as though you were standing on a piece of history, as the Stork Club had been one of the famous clubs during the time of the Great Depression and the years that followed. But being here with Bucky was the most surreal experience of all. Perhaps this was how calming Radha had felt when she followed Krishna’s music out to the forest - calm, relaxed, and madly in love with the man who had led her there.
“Yeah, this is it.” Bucky responded with a chuckle, his metal hand resting on your hip while his other hand moved to tuck a loose strand of your hair behind your ear. “So, may I have this dance?”
Tumblr media
And so, the two of you had danced the night away, under the stars in a rather tiny pocket park in Manhattan, to the music that played in your hearts. While it was not the most romantic first date out there, it was more than enough for the two of you. You had to have your own Rasleela with the man you had fallen in love with, and Bucky had finally taken a girl out to dance as he did during the 1940s.
The two of you returned to the compound just around midnight, having strolled around Manhattan for a little longer, and taking in how busy it was in the city that never sleeps. Bucky had spent most of the night spitting out historical facts about the multiple buildings you’d walked past, and you could not help but admire the fact that you were indeed on a date with a historical figure.
If Natasha were alive right now, you were sure that she would have teased you about your obsession with history, and how it had caused you to date the man you had written your thesis on. Perhaps if the rest of the team found out about it, they too would refuse to pass up the chance to pull your leg about it.
Thankfully, by the time you had returned, they were all asleep. It was just you and Bucky, alone in the common kitchen, just like the many nights you had shared together before. But this time, it was not because you could not sleep through the night. It was because you did not want to sleep, or accept the fact that this night had to come to an end somehow.
Once this night ended, you knew that you had to return to reality. The reality of leading the Avengers until Nick Fury decides to return and free you from your duties; whether he was returning was still a doubt.
The reality was also working with the newly established GRC to deal with the many individuals who had been displaced due to the Blip. While diplomacy had always been your first choice in your career, it was safe to say that you were starting to enjoy working amongst the earth’s mightiest heroes once again.
And speaking of diplomacy, there was something else that you really needed to get off of your chest... something that you had been meaning to tell Bucky for a while now.
“I wish my father could see me right now.” You told him with a sigh as the two of you snuck into the common kitchen to finish up some of your leftover dosa batter. “I wish my father could see that I’ve managed to make a life for myself after he left me.”
Bucky nodded as he sighed, understanding all too well about the loss you had been dealing with. “I’m sure your father’s watching you from wherever he is, and he’s proud of you for being the best boss lady the Avengers have ever seen.” Mixing up the batter as you wait for the pan to heat up.
You could not help but chuckle at that. “It’s funny how you say that.” Seriously, it was ironic.
“Do you miss him a lot?”
You nodded. “Yeah, I do. I miss him… every day. He wasn’t just my father, you know? He was my role model, my mentor. I looked up to him. I wanted to be like him.”
“How did he pass?” He asked. “If you wouldn’t mind me asking…” There was a slight hesitancy that he noticed when you turned your head away from him for a moment, and he could not help but wonder why.
Sam had mentioned to him that your last mission with the Avengers had been in Lagos, and that you had left the compound soon after, as your father had passed away around that time.
“The bombing in Vienna.” You muttered, feeling your eyes glaze over as you remembered that dreadful day.
It did not take that long for Bucky to put two and two together. He was well aware that your father had been a diplomat, so it made sense that he would have been at the United Nations conference to sign the Sokovia Accords when the bomb had gone off. “I… I’m so sorry, Y/N. I didn’t know...” He told you as he frowned, now understanding why you had given your kind regards to the Wakandan royal family.
It was for the role they had played in putting Zemo behind bars.
“N-No, Bucky… it wasn’t your fault.” You told him with a sigh, leaning over to wrap your arms around his neck. “It wasn’t your fault. I know that now.”
That last statement almost came out as a whisper. After all, you had blamed him for your father's death, along with the rest of the world that had accused him of bombing the United Nations conference. Hell, you had even fought with Steve because of it. It was a time you did not want to recall, as you now knew that you were in the wrong.
“You thought I killed your father, didn’t you?” He asked you, his eyes glazing over as he remembered those days. Although Shuri and her team had managed to remove HYDRA’s programming from his mind, all of the memories, the trauma and the guilt were very much there for him; he was yet to start working on them.
You could not help but nod in response to his question. “I did. I… I didn’t know then that I had been wrong about you. Steve and I… we were close. I was one of the first people he befriended after coming out of the ice. Every mission, every battle he fought… I was there every single time to fight alongside him. Even when Steve opposed the Accords, I agreed with him. I was even willing to go against my own father. Hell, I even tried to talk him out of signing. I tried to stop him from going to Vienna, but he wouldn’t listen. He…”
Bucky wrapped his arms tightly around you as he let out a sigh. “So, is that why you left? Because opposing the Accords had cost you your father’s life?”
You nodded as you rested your head against his shoulder, letting out a sigh as you accepted his comfort. “Yeah, I did. I left because I didn’t see a point in fighting anymore. I couldn’t do it, not when my father was dead. I felt like it was my fault. I could have tried harder to talk him out of it. I could have stopped him from going to Vienna, but I didn’t… and now he’s dead.” You explained. “I never even got to say goodbye to him.”
He continued to hold you for a moment as you cried, knowing that you must have been holding onto this guilt for several years now. If anything, he understood that guilt himself. “It wasn’t your fault, Y/N.” He told you once he pulled back from the embrace, his thumbs brushing off your tears.
Wiping away the remainder of your tears, you turned over to pour the dosa batter in the pan. “Yeah, well… that makes two of us.”
He wrapped his arms around you once again, resting his chin against your shoulder. “If it wasn’t my fault, it wasn’t your fault either, okay?”
You nodded. “Yeah…” You agreed, for you knew that he was right. “You know, for the longest time, I believed that you were the guy who killed my father, that you were the reason why I fought with Steve, that you were the reason why my life as I knew it was gone…” You admitted, grabbing the oil and drizzling it in the pan. “But now I know that I got to know you, I know that you’re… you’re not who HYDRA had made you out to be. Under all of that brainwashing and… pain, you’re a really nice guy, Bucky. You’re kind and thoughtful. You’re…”
“The Krishna to your Radha?” Bucky cut you off with a soft chuckle, his metal hand rubbing up and down your arms.
You nodded as you laughed. “Yeah, that you are.” You admitted, not just to him but also to yourself.
Tumblr media
Eventually, that night did come to an end. After all, the two of you were exhausted from your date and having stuffed yourselves with a late night snack, it was only fair to retreat to your respective living quarters.
It was the first night in a while that Bucky Barnes was able to sleep in his own bed without any nightmares, as he was now dreaming of the life he would get to live with you.
You had  a dream that night too. A dream that Andal had described that she had of when Lord Krishna had come to marry her:
Vaaranam aayiram soozha valam vandhu,
Naarana Nambi nadakkindraan yendredhir,
Poorana pokudam vaithu, puramengum,
Thoranam naatta kana kanden thozhi, naan.
The only difference was that it wasn’t Krishna who had come to marry you in your dreams.
It was Bucky.

Part 2 of 4
Summary: After an unimaginable loss, you discover your powers and become even more cemented in your faith. Sam experiences a similar loss and struggles with it. When you meet, how will your lives change?
Pairing: Sam Wilson x Indian!Superhero!Reader
Words: 904
A/N: This is for @bucky-smiles 2K Bollywood Writing Challenge! My prompt was Jab Tak Hai Jaan. The thing that stood out most to me was both of the protagonists’ struggles and/or commitments to faith, so that’s what I drew on for this fic. Although I know that Sam is an orphan in the comics, having lost both his parents to violence, I had him be raised by his mother, so she’s still alive here.
Beta’d by: The lovely @bucky-smiles herself. I wanted to make sure I did the culture and religion justice, so thank you! Also beta’d by another Indian lovely @emilyshurley, who also made the above aesthetic for me. Thank you both for working with me. It meant a lot for me to get the culture and religion right because representation fucking matters, so your help was invaluable to me. <3
To say that your life took a different turn than you expected was an understatement to say the very least. As a child, watching your mother and father, you’d fully intended to become a surgeon, a brain surgeon specifically, but after that day in the alleyway, you knew you’d been chosen for a different purpose.
Even your father knew it. At first, he’d been frightened by your newfound abilities, denying their existence, but when you exploded at him, begging him to believe, and he saw the fire in your eyes, he knew you’d been telling the truth. “This is why you were saved, beta. I know it.”
From that day on, you trained. You trained in every martial art you could think of, your father even seeking out the best trainers to help you under the guise of ‘keeping my daughter safe in an unsafe world.’ Every day you honed your fire abilities, ensuring that even under the most crazed of circumstances, you could control them.
You became a doctor anyway, fostering your mind as well as your body, hoping to help others in any and every way. Instead of going into neurosurgery, you pursued orthopedics, serving people from all walks of life all around the world – from New York City to Afghanistan to India and back.
Fire and strength lingered in your very being, but you only utilized your abilities when trouble found you; you didn’t go looking for it. Stopping gangbangers, frightening a rapist here and there, even pushing back against a few dates who got a little too handsy and didn’t want to take the hint. But that was it.
Until New York 2012.
Watching aliens pop out of a wormhole in the sky put your seemingly ‘weird’ powers into perspective. Apparently, it was just the tip of the iceberg. Others like yourself - a man who could summon lightning, a giant green dude, Tony Stark – they all flew around the city, saving citizens one by one, and you’d jumped right in at their sides, helping to extract patients from the hospital to hand off to one of the masked superheroes.
It was shortly after that you heard that the Avengers, as they became known, were looking for new recruits, people similar to yourself with gifts others could only dream of. Offering puja to your Krishna murti that night, you asked for his guidance. Was this your path? Was this what you’d been saved for all those years ago?
With deep breaths, you lifted your hands, palm-to-palm, against your chest, listening for an answer. As you waited intently, a peace washed over you unlike anything you’d felt before, warmth blanketing you like the sun on your skin. The fire you’d grown accustomed to licked at your fingers, wisps of smoke following in their wake.
This is what you were meant to do.
----
Apparently, most of the people that had come to test their abilities alongside the Avengers were new to the whole thing to say the least. They were untrained, unfocused, undisciplined. And while even the Avengers as a team still had some tweaking to do within their ranks - settle petty squabbles, learn to work together seamlessly – they didn’t have the time to hone someone’s skill.
When you walked through the doors of Stark Tower that day, you knew who you were, what you could do, and how to control it. They put you through rigorous obstacles, watched you fight, talked with you one-on-one. They’d all asked you why you wanted to be on the team. And you told them – you wanted to help. After all that you’d lost, you had to believe that Bhagwan had saved you for a reason. You had to believe there was a point to the pain you’d endured.
As you showed them the true extent of your abilities, Steve looked on in awe at the flames that licked at your skin. Bruce studied you. Thor nodded in appreciation. Coming from Asgard, your abilities were probably nothing to him, but he smiled nonetheless. Natasha looked unimpressed; however, the slightest twitch in her smile and a shrug of her shoulders told you all you needed to know. Clint’s mouth dropped open in amazement, saying something about being armed with a bow and arrow while you had flames coming from your arms. And Tony, well Tony just raised an eyebrow before glancing toward the rest of the team, a silent agreement forming between them.
“Welcome to the team, Y/N,” he said, walking up behind you and clapping you on the back. “We’re going to have to come up with a cool superhero name.” He clapped his hands together and smiled. “Anyone have any ideas?”
----
In the ensuing year or so, you became known as Agni, after accompanying Tony on a mission to the Middle East. To right some wrongs. Surrounded by enemy combatants, you tapped into your power with a ferocity even you hadn’t experienced yet, flames coating your entire body as you channeled it toward each and every one of them, frying them in place while Tony focused on the civilians.
With each mission, you became more and more sure in your purpose, continuing to devote yourself to Krishna and thank him for showing you the way. You knew where your life was headed. Until it threw an unexpected, yet welcomed wrench in your plans.
A wrench by the name of Sam Wilson.

The Alphabet Aesthetic Challenge (Again)
Below the cut is a listing of the alphabet. Please send me a letter of the alphabet that hasn’t been chosen yet and a female character from Indian mythology or epics (the obscure the better, whether from this list or your own knowledge) whose name starts with that letter, and I’ll make an graphic (+/- brief fic) celebrating her!
If possible, please put your requests in the comments to this post, so everyone can (hopefully) see it--but this is all very informal, so even if there are duplicate letters, that’s fine. There’s a list of already completed ladies at the bottom of this, that can also be browsed HERE!

Some two-syllable neutral names

Train to Vrindavan
Here's the first chapter of Krishna x reader fic which you all wanted to read. Reader is named as Bhaishmi here because each time i keep (y/n) i read everything as 'y/n' but you can insert your own name here if you want or read it as Bhaishmi.
Chapter-1
I took a deep breath in and looked at my surroundings. There was a huge rush on the platform. My cousins were accompanying me on a trip to Vrindavan to celebrate Holi. Luckily, our school finals were over before Holi, and we wanted to go out somewhere without our parents accompanying us. My cousin brother, Ranvit had suggested planning for Goa, which we had to cancel before we even went to our parents to ask for permission.
Why? Do you even need a reason? Which Indian family would allow their sixteen-year-old children to go to Goa? My sister, Bhumi, only a year younger than me, suggested going to Vrindavan to celebrate Holi. The various festivities would satiate Ranvit’s adventurous side, and our parents were more or less impressed by our decision to go to a sacred religious site at this age.
Bhumi and I had binge-watched many documentaries on the grand celebration of the festival at Vrindavan. We knew we could never get a YJHD Holi celebration ever in our lives, but we could get to experience Vraj ki holi! Ranvit initially was against it, but the idea of Lathmaar holi caught his interest and he agreed.
“The train shall arrive within the next ten minutes,” declared Bhumi, her eyes glued to her phone.
Ranvit snatched her phone in his hands and kept it in his pocket. “Now, young lady, you have been staring at the phone for quite some while. You will get it back once we board the train.”
Bhumi glared daggers at him and huffed. “Excuse me! I am the one arranging all this, so I need to be kept updated about the train status.”
I chuckled and waved my phone at her. “I have Ixigo too, Bhumi. So you don’t have to worry so much. Besides, we are sixteen! We won’t be lost and certainly will not miss our train.”
Ranvit muttered something under his breath, causing her to glare at him even more.
“Hand me my phone now!” She demanded.
“Can’t hear you. Speak a bit louder.” Ranvit liked to pester Bhumi too much. All brothers love doing that. But both the brother-sister duo loved each other as fiercely as they fought and troubled each other.
A loud whistle diverted their attention from their fight. Our train had arrived and would halt within the next two minutes. Ranvit gave back Bhumi’s phone and held his suitcase. Bhumi and I took hold of our belongings and walked ahead to find our compartment.
We easily found our assigned coach and berths. The three of us sat for a while and looked outside the window. I looked at the people outside. Vendors were selling their goods, children asking their parents for snacks, people with laptop bags and large suitcases.
My eyes drifted towards Bhumi who was on a call with her mother, my maasi, to inform her that we had comfortably boarded the train. I texted my mother the same, and she replied to me with the thumbs up emoji and ‘ok.’
Ranvit was seated on the side berth. He kept his suitcase below his seat and removed his shoes and stretched his legs on the seat. Bhumi and I had the lower and middle berth on the left side. I was waiting for Bhumi to end her call with maasi so we could keep our luggage together.
“Haan mummy, we won’t accept food from strangers. I will take Bhaishmi with me when I need to use the bathroom at night and also make sure that Ranvit doesn’t gobble all the aloo parathas. Okay?” Bhumi rolled her eyes at me while Ranvit and I shared amused looks with each other.
Ranvit shook his head and snatched the phone again. “Mummy, don’t worry. I am ending the call now. We will call back after we get there.”
Bhumi clapped her hands and looked at me. She exclaimed, excitement evident in her tone. “Oh my God! I can’t believe this. We are really travelling by ourselves!”
“Chal chal, let’s first keep our luggage aside and then we will pinch ourselves to check if this is a dream or not,” I said and moved my bag towards the window seat and placed my suitcase under my seat. Bhumi kept her luggage beside mine and sat on the opposite berth.
She looked at Ranvit who had his earphones plugged in, and his fingers busy texting someone. There was a small smile on his face, and we quickly understood who was behind his smile.
I stretched my arms and sighed. I was really out on a trip by myself with these two. I knew that we weren’t on some adventurous journey, but even this excited me. Covid took away two years from me. I wanted to enjoy every second of this trip before joining school for the new session.
“God, where did the two mischief mongers go? Weren’t they just behind you, Arjun?”

Love Me Blue | Bucky Barnes x Reader (Rasleela)
MY MASTERLIST
Series Masterlist
Summary: Perhaps Bucky Barnes is the Krishna to your Radha.
Word Count: 3800+
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Tamilian!Hindu!Reader, Sam Wilson
Warnings: References to Hinduism, PTSD, Endgame References.
Pic from Pinterest! <3 Divider by @whimsicalrogers!
Tumblr media
The more Bucky Barnes read about Hinduism, the more intrigued he became about how a highly skilled former SHIELD agent had retained her faith even after living through the literal end of the world. After Thanos and the Infinity War, and losing Tony and Natasha, it came as a surprise to him that you still continued to uphold the religious traditions that you were raised with. You could have easily walked away from them, but it was the fact that you chose not to do so that made Bucky realize how strong you were.
From maintaining a strict vegetarian diet to starting your day with the morning chants, the way your daily life was filled with your faith… it was refreshing to see, especially during a time when people were not always that religious. Nowadays when he awoke at dawn, he would hear the usual chants of the Sri Venkateswara Suprabhatam being recited next door, and he could not deny that it gave him the same kind of comfort as it did to you.
Whenever the rest of the team were gone on missions, he often joined you in your living quarters for breakfast, and it was safe to say that he had taken a liking to the hearty South Indian vegetarian meal that he could often expect from you. In a way, he often looked forward to the days when the two of you were alone at the compound. Usually, that included cooking together and talking about your life in India and his time in Wakanda. Other times, you found yourself working out together; you were even sparring partners.
It was no secret that the two of you had been spending quite a lot of time together, and the Avengers were not completely oblivious to the sparks that were flying between you and the super soldier every time you were in the same room. As much as you hated to admit it to yourself, when Wanda pressed on during one of your many girls’ nights, you confessed that you did feel something for Bucky. You had brushed it off as your inner history nerd being fascinated by a man who fought in the Second World War, but you knew better than that. Wanda knew as well; she could read minds, after all.
Sam had also noticed that Bucky had started to come out of his shell ever since you had arrived at the compound, and he could never pass up an opportunity to tease him about it. “So, you’ve been in a good mood lately…” He pointed out to his friend during one workout session.
Bucky knew where Sam was getting at, but a part of him refused to give him the satisfaction of being right. “It must be the extra sleep I’ve been getting.” He admitted, genuinely.
It was partially true, as his sleep has improved a lot since he had first moved into the compound. Between working together with the compound’s newly hired in-house therapist and spending time with you, it seemed that his nerves had finally calmed down.
“Does Y/N have anything to do with that?” He asked, batting his eyelashes in a rather teasing manner.
This caused the supersoldier to become flushed, and he quickly looked away to hide the sheepish grin on his lips. “Possibly.” He could not lie about how your arrival at the compound had certainly lifted his spirits; in a world where he had assumed that he was on his own, you had been the one to show him that he wasn’t alone and he did not want to be alone again.
Sam knew damn well that you and Bucky were one and the same. Both of you had faced tremendous loss, and had given up on fighting in hopes of finding peace, only to be pulled back into the fight again. He could not deny that the two of you would make a good pair, as different as you were.
When he had asked Bucky if he had any intentions to ask you out, that was when Bucky had even considered asking you out. Not that he worried that you would reject him; he was just unsure that it was the right time. Despite defeating Thanos, the world was still in shock from the blip and it seemed unfair of him that he wanted to move on from that. But he knew better than to let these anxieties get the worst of him. He had seen enough war and suffering; it was time for him to put his happiness before all.
Needless to say, you made him very happy.
He had told Sam of his plan on asking you out, but he wanted to plan the most perfect date for the two of you. He wanted to ask you out when he knew what your first date would be, and so he hoped to find out more about what you wanted when it came to your love life.
Tumblr media
It was during one of your many late night chats by the lake when you had found yourself staring up at the starlit sky, your peacock print scarf wrapped over your shoulders as you pulled your knees up to your chest.
Bucky had been pacing back and forth across the gazebo, trying to find the right words to say even though he did not want to be direct. “Hey Y/N, can I ask you something?”
The sound of his voice snapped you out of your thoughts, and you turned over to face him. “If it’s about the Cold War, I can’t answer that.”
This made him chuckle softly, and certainly put his nerves at ease. “Oh? And here I thought that you knew your history.” He teased, as always.
Laughing softly, you stood up from your seat on the bench and walked up to him. “I do know my history, but I’ve got my mind on the present at the moment.” You admitted, honestly.
Who were you kidding? When you first met this man, you did have your mind on history. You were fascinated by the Howling Commando who fought alongside Captain America; he was merely a historical figure to you.
But now in the present, you could not deny that he was much more than that. He was a friend, a companion, someone you had become quite fond of. You did not know how to describe it; but you could not deny that you saw a glimpse of Lord Krishna in his eyes. He sure had the charm, and the mystery, but your own fear of loss had held you back from acting on what you felt for him.
“Speaking of the moment, that brings me back to my question.” He rolled his eyes at you rather playfully. “What’s Rasleela?”
Your eyes grew wide at his question. “Rasleela?”
“I looked up one of the paintings in your apartment.” He responded with a shrug.
Ever since he had spent that night at your apartment, Bucky had been frequently asking you questions about the various paintings and idols of Lord Krishna that you had kept in your living quarters. He had explained that his fascination with your religion had stemmed from the fact that he had lived in Wakanda and had experienced their culture as well; and it had caused him to become curious of all of the traditions that you followed.
Of course, you had no problem sharing with him the context behind the paintings around your home. The story of Radha and Krishna was always close to your heart, and you certainly appreciated being able to share them with someone else. It was no secret that sharing these love stories with Bucky had only contributed to your feelings towards him, but you did not want to get ahead of yourself like that. You were technically his boss, after all.
“Rasleela… well, the literal meaning of it is ‘the dance of divine love’ but that’s quite a mouthful.” You admitted, laughing softly. “The painting I have in my apartment shows Lord Krishna and Radha dancing under the stars, doesn’t it? My grandmother told me that it happens in one night, when Lord Krishna hides in the forest and plays his flute. All the girls in his village get so mesmerized by it… they follow the music into the forest and they go searching for him. When they find him, they dance all night. It’s a celebration of love, really… the dancing.”
“But why are there so many women who danced with him?” He asked. “Why is he dancing with all of them when Radha was the one he loved?”
“Believe it or not, he was quite the playboy.” You replied, your lips curling into a smirk as you crossed your arms against your chest. “He loved Radha the most, but every girl in the village still loved him.”
“So, you have a thing for playboys, huh?”
“I have a thing for Lord Krishna.” You replied in a rather teasing manner. “I mean, I’m devoted to Lord Krishna. But when it comes to my love life… I want someone to love me like Lord Krishna loved Radha.”
As messed up as the world was, this wish of yours had never changed. Ever since you were a little girl in South India listening to your grandmother’s stories, you fell in love with Lord Krishna and the pure love that he held for Radha. This kind of love was unconditional, and undying.
“Would you ever want to have your own Rasleela, Y/N?” Bucky asked you, rather curiously.
“What?”
“Dance all night, under the stars, celebrate love… would you ever want to be a part of something like that?” He asked.
You thought for a moment, wondering if you could ever be a part of something so magical. “I mean, I doubt that I would ever experience something so magical. But if I found someone to be my Krishna, I guess I won’t be opposed to it.” And you meant that.
Frankly, he knew exactly what you meant too.
Tumblr media
When you woke up the next morning, it was way past dawn. You had turned on the usual morning chants on your phone, and hooked it up to the speakers. While the chants were playing in the background, you made your way over to the bathroom to clean yourself up and get ready for your prayers. But when you made your way over towards your shrine, you had noticed that the footprints that you had painted from your front door were no longer there.
You hadn’t taken them off, so it made you wonder who would have managed to scrape all of that paint off of the tiles. But when you made your way over to the front door and opened it, you were greeted by a surprise.
It was a box, rectangular and tied with a giant red bow. You looked around the hallway before picking it up, wondering who would have left this as you closed the door behind you. As curious as you were about what was in that box, you did not open it right away. You had to head to work, since Rhodey and Wanda had just returned from a mission.
When you arrived to make yourself some breakfast, the dining area had been rather empty. Most of the team had eaten and left, but the table had been set for one; it had a plate that was covered with a lid and a sticky note with your name on it.
“Well, this morning has been full of surprises, hasn’t it?” You said to yourself as you sat down on the table and removed the lid, seeing a freshly prepared dosa and onion chutney on the plate. “It sure has…”
At that moment, you knew damn well who was responsible for the neatly wrapped box at your door and the South Indian breakfast surprise; other than yourself, there was only one other person here at the compound who knew how to make South Indian food, and he had been acting a little suspicious lately.
You had eaten your breakfast in quiet, constantly paying attention to your surroundings in hopes that Bucky would return to the dining area to ensure that you were eating the meal he had left behind for you. But to your disappointment, he did not show. As a matter of fact, the last time you saw him had been when you had returned to your living quarters following your nightly chat by the lake.
The rest of the day went by as you were swarmed with mission reports and briefings, and the whole time Bucky was nowhere to be found. Not that he had to be a part of them, as he hadn’t been taking part in missions just yet. But it was safe to say that you could not go this long without seeing him.
Of course, you could have asked your team if they had seen Bucky anywhere. If he wasn’t at the compound, you knew that he would have at least told someone where he went. Truth be told, your pride had just gotten in the way of you just blatantly admitting to someone that you were looking for him. You could just picture the look on Sam’s eyes when you asked him where Bucky was.
“Took you long enough.” Sam muttered when you entered his living quarters. “I’ve been expecting you all morning, Y/N.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” You asked, crossing your arms as you looked over at him in utter confusion.
“You’re looking for the cyborg, aren’t ya?”
You nodded. “Yeah, I am. I haven’t seen him all day, and he left breakfast for me. I figured that I would ask you where I could find him. Is he okay?”
“He’s fine.” He replied, giving you a reassuring smile. “He’s just hiding from you.”
“Then where is he?” You asked, wondering what was going on with the supersoldier. “What? Why?”
“He left on his Harley at sunrise while I was going on my run. He didn’t tell me where he was headed, just that he needed to stay hidden until nightfall and that you would know where to find him.” He replied with a shrug. “Something about ‘following the music’ or whatever. I had no idea what he meant by that.”
Your cheeks flushed at his words before you shook your head. “God, I should have known that he was up to something when he asked me what he did last night.” You admitted, sighing.
“What did he ask you?”
“Nothing you should know about.” You replied with a wink. “Did he say anything else, by the way?”
“Just that you would know where he is… and that you should just ‘follow the music’ if you didn’t know. Don’t get me wrong, I have no idea what that means. But if you want, I can help you track him down.” He offered. “Honestly. I don’t know what goes on in that cyborg brain of his.”
You wanted to consider Sam’s offer, but you knew that it was best not to. Clearly, Bucky had known that you would find him; it even seemed that he wanted you to. As much as you want to let Sam get involved, and you understood his good heart for offering, you wanted this to be a lot more personal. Besides, Agent Y/L/N was not someone who would back away from a challenge.
“It’s fine, Sam.” You shrugged him off. “If he wants me to go on a wild goose chase, then I guess that’s what I’ll do. It’s not like I have a team of superheroes to oversee or anything like that.”
The Falcon chuckled at that. “I’ve always known that something was up with the two of you.” He admitted, genuinely. Having watched you at your lowest, he wanted nothing more than for you to find happiness, especially with someone like Bucky. “You like him, don’t you?”
You nodded. “Yeah, I do.” You confessed, feeling your cheeks heat up once again. “I mean, I don’t think I know how to keep that a secret. We have been spending a lot of time together lately, and I’m sure people are starting to notice.”
Not that you cared about what anyone might think. Being the supervising officer to the Avengers did not mean that you had to stray away from meeting your personal needs. You had all survived an apocalypse; the least you could do is be happy.
“I know he likes you too, Y/N. He can’t seem to shut up about you, and I hope that everything works out for you.” He grinned as he pulled you into an embrace. “You deserve it.”
You gave him a nod as you hugged him back. “Thanks, Sam. I know that… I’ve been hard on myself ever since… what happened. But I know now that Bucky’s not the bad guy in my story. He never was, and maybe… maybe it won’t be so bad. Maybe the bad things in my life are over.”
Sam nodded understandingly, still not letting go of the hug. “Have you told him yet?” He asked, certainly worried about his two close friends.
You shook your head. “No, I haven’t told him. I didn’t know how to. How am I supposed to tell him that I misunderstood him? Or that there was a time when I wanted nothing more than to kill him?”
Looking back at that time only broke your heart, and your eyes glazed over. You knew that Bucky would never judge you if he ever found out about your past, but you could not get yourself to share this with him. You did not know how to.
“You know that wasn’t your fault, Y/N.” He reminded you. “Just like it wasn’t his fault either.”
You nodded. “Yeah, I know that now. But I can’t help but feel guilty sometimes. Bucky’s one of the sweetest, kindest, and gentlest people I’ve ever  met. I just feel awful about believing what everyone was saying about him. I should have known better. I should have believed Steve.”
Pulling back from the hug, Sam quickly wiped away your tears. “Y/N, come on… there’s no point in feeling shitty about the past. Bucky likes you. You like Bucky. Just focus on the present for now, okay? You and I both know that Bucky’s the last person who would judge you for what happened, and if he found out about what you’ve been through, I know for a fact that it wouldn’t change anything. You have nothing to worry about, okay?”
“Okay.” You sighed, knowing that he was right. “I should probably go and find him.”
“Yeah, you do that.” He agreed, chuckling softly before leaning over to kiss your forehead. “Be happy, Y/N.”
“Thanks, Sam.”
Tumblr media
When you exited Sam’s living quarters, you headed back to your own. Remembering that the footprints in your living room had been removed, you wondered if it could be Bucky’s doing. You and Bucky had been talking well into the late hours of the night before you decided to head back to your living quarters, and he had walked you back to yours the whole way. You could not remember if Bucky had come inside with you, but he certainly could have come in with you and helped you into bed before he had scraped the footprints off.
But if so, why would he do that?
What did Bucky mean when he had told Sam that you would know where he was? What did he mean by ‘follow the music’? Why did he ask you about Rasleela last night?
You suddenly remembered the box that you had found at your doorstep that morning, and you rushed over to open it. Inside was a dark blue lace dress that was straight out of the 1940s, and a handwritten note from Bucky.
Tumblr media
If you would let me be the Krishna to your Radha, I’ll show you how we did ‘Rasleela’ back in my day. -Bucky
Reading the note only made your cheeks heat up once again. You had been expecting him to pull something like this on you since the moment he had even asked you about the meaning of Rasleela in the first place. But you hadn’t expected him to be this fast.
It did not take you long to figure out where he was. After all, Sam had mentioned that Bucky had left the compound pretty early. With his clue to ‘follow the music’ and the message he had left on that note, it was all pretty clear to you.
Being a history major, you had always been fond of how much New York City had changed since the days of the Great Depression. When you had first met Steve Rogers and taken him on a tour around Manhattan, he had mentioned to you of how different it had been back in the day.
You had been the first one to find out about how Peggy had asked him to meet her at the Stork Club for their date, which Steve hadn’t been able to make. Seventy years later, you had offered to take him to the place where the Stork Club used to be.
It was a pocket park now, with the club being demolished and replaced with an artificial waterfall and several benches. You and Steve had sat there for hours, and he had shared with you all the stories about how Bucky would drag him out there to go dancing with some girls he met.
What a playboy he must have been back then?
Before you knew it, you had slipped into the dress that Bucky had given you and were heading towards Paley Park in hopes that you could find him there. As it was a four hour drive from the compound to the heart of Manhattan, you found yourself bringing out one of your favourite toys.
A present from your former mentor and SHIELD Supervising Officer Agent Phil Coulson, Lola was a cherry red 1962 Chevrolet Corvette that was upgraded with some of Howard Stark’s, and then Tony Stark’s technologies. Steve used to tell you that Howard had once promised to create flying cars at one of the Stark Expos, and Lola was the closest thing that came to that; in flight mode, the wheels folded down and there was a hover-capable propulsion system that replaced them.
Knowing of Bucky’s interest in flying cars through Steve, you could only hope that he would be excited to see you arriving in Lola when you pulled up to Paley Park. Frankly, the four hour drive to the city was now cut short, thanks to Lola. Oh how you loved Phil for letting you take his car after him. Even though you were only using her for leisurely purposes, Lola made you feel some kind of power. After all, if you could drive a flying car, you could pretty much do anything else in the world.

All That Mattered
A/N: An anon request for a Spencer x Reader inspired by Nancy Mulligan by Ed Sheeran (I am obsessed with this song right now). It doesn’t chronicle their whole lives, just the beginning. The two have different backgrounds and religions, but they don’t care. All they care about is being in love. Also, if you want a visual for the reader, I imagine her looking like Kala from Sense8. @coveofmemories
                                                              ----
“So, we’re doing this?” Spencer asked hesitantly, checking in with her for umpteenth time that she was okay with how everything had played out. Last year, the two had met on a case; they needed her expertise as a microbiologist for the case they were working and once their eyes met, Spencer fell in love with her.
He asked for her number and they began talking, but the moment Spencer asked about her parents, she clammed up. After emigrating to the United States from India for a job, her parents, specifically her father, had tried as hard as he could to instill very traditional Hindu values in her, most of which she held. But even at 24, he wanted to arrange her marriage, and he wanted that marriage to be to a Hindu man. She didn’t want that. She wanted Spencer - and she’d marry him with or without her father’s permission.
“I’m sure,” she said, placing her hand over his. “I love you. I want to marry you. I want us to be together for the rest of our lives. My father be damned - intolerant man.” Spencer had done what he thought was right, going to Y/N’s home, taking off his shoes at the front door as was custom in a Hindu household, and asked her father to marry her. He told her he loved her with all his heart, wanted only the best for her, thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world, but none of that mattered to Y/N’s father, because Spencer wasn’t Hindu, and he wasn’t someone, at least in his eyes, who would take care of Y/N, even though she needed no one to take care of her.
“Then off we go,” Spencer said, his voice lighter than air as he pulled away from the curb and toward the Mayhurst Inn, which was hours away. Y/N had always wanted to get married there, so when they decided to elope under her father’s nose, Spencer pulled every string he could to get them their own private ceremony and subsequent weekend honeymoon at the Inn. It cost him a pretty penny, but he would have done anything for her.
Despite not holding conservative Hindu values, Y/N practiced what she felt were the true values of Hinduism - she strived to achieve dharma, she believed that truth was eternal, she believed in helping others, and she still observed many of the customs she was taught growing up. She removed her shoes as she walked in her home. The ceremony of Vastushanti was something she brought up when it come to them buying a house together - the yagya that was performed during the ceremony would clear the home of ghosts and/or negative energies. She prayed to the different deities, including Krishna, Shiva and Vishnu. One of the big traditional values she refused to hold was thinking of her husband as God, and Spencer was fine with that. “Being a God would be too much pressure,” he’d laughed as he kissed her on the nose.
As Spencer drove to Mayhurst, Y/N called to confirm that the mendhi artist would be coming to cover her arms before the ceremony. Although she wanted a traditional American wedding in most regards, she’d always that the mendhi was beautiful. She’d also be wearing a red saree, as was tradition for the region in which her parents grew up. She’d actually picked it out with Spencer, blushing with embarrassment when he told her, that if it was possible, she was even more beautiful.
Her father would be furious, but none of that mattered; she loved him and he loved her - more than anything else in the world. All of her worries dissolved as they drove up to Mayhurst. “This is really happening,” she said, her voice cracking as the tears formed in her eyes. “We’re getting married!”
After they checked in for the weekend, Spencer went to their room while she got her arms covered in the traditional mendhi and put on her dress. When he first saw her, he couldn’t hold back the tears. “You look stunning, Y/N.”
A priest that was used to melding American and Hindu wedding traditions together had arrived, ushering the two to a small spot on the property, where no one else but he and the gods would witness their union. The hastamilap, a ceremony where the bride and groom’s hands are tied together with a cotton thread wound several times, was the most important to her. It was the one piece of Hindu wedding traditions she’d insisted on. “Do you, Spencer Walter Reid, take Y/F/N Y/L/N as your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, for richer or for poorer, keeping yourself solely for her as long as you live?”
“I do,” he replied, looking into her eyes as the rest of the world dropped away.
“And do you, Y/F/N Y/L/N, take Spencer Walter Reid, as your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, for richer or for poorer, keeping yourself solely for him as long as you live?” he spoke softly, barely heard over the rustling of the leaves.
“I do,” she sobbed, gripping his hands even tighter.
“Then by the power invested in me by the State of Virginia, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Spencer, you may kiss your bride.” The priest stepped back, walking quietly away as the newlyweds kissed, forgetting the rest of the world, and what might await them when they returned home, focusing only on each other - because that was truly all that mattered.
