If @jillthecia-agent is not in the CIA than why is it in their name? This thing! I forgot this human place is awful. No good gifs, all about this bts nonsense.
NO ONE WANTS TO SEE MEN. NO FUN!
TIMELORDS MAKE MY LIFE TOO HARD THEY ARE TOO DRAMATIC. But my Timelady says we must offer men’s wear as well so here I am 😑
I only did Lord Borusa’s clothing because HE LET MY HAVE FUN WITH THINGS! I could make him look powerful and sparkly and it was AMAZING and now Lady Romana wants only “independent brands” good grief. And I want intergalatic peace. Have fun looking like a damsel in distress instead of a POWERFUL RULER WHO HONORS TRADITION WHERE IT MATTERS.

Black Mesa - Interloper
Black Mesa Interloper is actually good, the 'I got bored and decided to make this' rant.
So like... you jump through the Lambda Core teleporter and are greeted by this absolutely stunning skybox in Xen, and towering in the distance is the Nihilanth's lair, the 'Interloper Tower' as I like to call it. And you spend a good couple of hours moving your way slowly across Xen towards it.
Until you're finally standing at the base of this absolutely massive megastructure. Journey less than half over because you've still got to climb it.
And the god damn chapter makes you feel that climb. That's always something I've felt HL2s Citadel lacked, its like 8 kms tall in lore but it does not feel like anything other than a skyscraper, which after towering over you for much of the game is so anticlimactic. Like yeah the Super Gravity Gun is nice but the tower don't feel like the behemoth its supposed to.
Interloper does, and it is glorious. It's a slog as you slowly push your way up, as the Nihilanth throws all these forces at you trying to stop you from ascending, and you're burning through your ammo until, when you're close to running out, you come across the Gluon Gun recharging crystals and it goes wild. The tower itself is an absolutely amazing bit of worldbuilding too, it's like a massive living organism with technology sewn into it, enslaved by the Nihilanth to produce Alien Grunts like everything else in the factory.
And you climb, and climb. Reach the elevator and ascend, you can feel Nihilanth's desperation as you get closer. You're hurting, and tired and running on fumes but its a battle of wills between the two of you as to who will crack first.
Until you, at long last triumph, and are standing at the top of all that, overlooking everything you've come through over the last third of the game, conquering the tower. The catharsis of this moment would simply not have worked if the tower was half that height. Without the struggle the payoff is nothing.
This chapter is good, and I only wish the Citadel was like it. Imagine getting stocked up by Barney right before entering the Citadel, only to slowly burn ammo ascending through the Combine's manufacturing plants, going up past Striders and weapons and up to ships. And then hitting the confiscation field just as your ammo is hurting. And then bam, Super Gravity Gun. And then the catharsis of finally reaching the top and knocking Breen of the pedestal you've fought tooth and nail all the way up.

To be fair Vita was pretty antagonistic in the salt snow holy city arc and she did commit countless atrocities across countless bubble universes. Also I am pretty sure Vita is how Sa was like before Venus was destroyed and Sa was basically an empty husk when she died so I could not have imagined her to be that interesting of a villain. What do you think?
Well yeah but in SSHC that was her plan, to antagonize us so we'd fight her and she'd get more power from Sa to help her win against Seele but she turned that around and broke free from Sa instead (I remember that correctly, I hope)
And idk, sometimes a really powerful destructive force can still be interesting to stop. It'll be more like a serious problem than a character, but it can still work and be fun.
I mean, that's basically what the airship is in chapter 1. That's technically the antagonist of that chapter.
The Herrscher of the End was also kinda that. At least before Hoyo decided to make Kevin and Kiana the Herrscher of the End. Before that the HotE was also this really strong antagonist we knew were coming. Fighting and stopping her/it would be less about HotE as a character and more everyone fighting to overcome it instead.
And you know, we kinda didn't get a moment like that in the Moon Arc because Lambda breaks the 4th wall instead. (Im not gonna rant about the moon arc Im not gonna rant about the moon arc Im not gonna rant abou thet moon arc Im not--)

@asurastro asked- ☕ Send ☕ for my muse to rant about something in character (accepting)
Tumblr media
"Okay so like, this is gonna be super outta nowhere but like, I actually really hate it when I tell people I'm comfortable wearin' a mask and I get bein' told "Oh but you're probably so pretty underneath it!". Like, yeah, I get they're bein' nice or whatever but I dunno, it just feels off?"
His eyes are focused on the ground. His fingers busying themselves with twirling the string of a hoodie around them.
"I mean, it could've been worse." Lambda's tone drops, low and mumbling. "They could've said I looked like my mom. Which, y'know... sucks."

FLP MEMOIR BOOK OF THE DAY: GAUDY SORROW – MEMOIR by Barbara Seyda
On SALE now! Pre-order Price Guarantee: https://www.finishinglinepress.com/product/gaudy-sorrow-memoir-by-barbara-seyda/
Barbara Seyda‘s GAUDY SORROW is a surreal, epistolary #memoir about her Basque friend who died of Covid on Christmas Eve. A rant elegy swerving like a euphoric requiem, over 200 short, blunt letters catapult us into an epic odyssey. Rowdy and transcendent, we zig zag through tightly-braided random moments, street slang, Shakespeare, Spanglish and over-wrought metaphors. This queer Covid narrative spews sexy rage and body parts like a swamp monster of grief – a hydra sprouting infinite heads from fresh wounds for the beloved. A female-centric opera and hybrid text, GAUDY SORROW flickers like a dead lightbulb, dazzling and bereft.
Barbara Seyda is a queer, Polish-American playwright and screenwriter. Her published books are Women in Love (Bulfinch/Little Brown) winner of a Lambda Literary Award, Nomads of a Desert City (University of Arizona Press) and Celia, A Slave (Yale University Press) winner of the Yale Drama Prize. Seyda lives in Tucson, on the Sonoran Desert home of the Tohono O’odham people.
PRAISE FOR GAUDY SORROW – MEMOIR by Barbara Seyda
Gaudy Sorrow is a kaleidoscopic tapestry that spirals the reader into a personal journey-rant of rich textures. Barbara Seyda’s tender probing, in-your-face, funny, raw swirl through grief, grasping, and wonder is a careening mouthful of orgasmic words placed just so. Reading Gaudy Sorrowshould not be rushed, but savored the way a 19th century naturalist would explore her first jungle canopy. The way one would “floss teeth with trumpet vines,” as Seyda says. This jewel of a journey is thrilling, violent, confessional, and beautiful; we want to go with Seyda as she “drives though LA with a megaphone clamped to the top of a stolen Volkswagen bug. Blasting a non-stop transient grief monologue.” I am grateful for this rant and will continue to revisit it over and over again.
–Shelly Hubman, Writer, Intuitive Healer
Barbara Seyda’s searing tale of sex, love, and grief is like a glimmering sequined dress—one minute we’re dancing wildly and aglow; the next we’re stripped bare, lying in a heap on the floor, waiting for morning sunlight. This, after all, is a chronicle of human intimacy, a place only those willing to face blood and balm dare to go. With its breathy, exquisite prose and cutting candor, Gaudy Sorrow left me sweating, gasping, and fully alive.
–Kimi Eisele, The Lightest Object in the Universe
Sylvia Plath warned that ‘poetry, at its best, can do you a lot of harm’ and maybe that’s why I return to it. The same can be said for loving. Which is to say living is truly treacherous work. Make no mistake about it, you dirty human miracle, Barbara Seyda’s GAUDY SORROW will hurt you. It will tie you up. Hurl you into a carnival of ruin with a locked-up staggering beast. Then slap you for not saying fuck you. Here, glue-gunning our fingers together becomes an expression of gratitude; this is poetry for the un-furred, the grief-scored. Don’t miss your chance to stare straight into the eclipse, you who are a private bomb with a heart.
–TC Tolbert, The Quiet Practices, Gephyromania

copying the rest before NaNo deletes its blog and tumblr:
1. Accountability
One of the most difficult parts of writing a novel is that it requires so much self-discipline. It’s not like a job you show up to where your boss is holding you accountable for how many words you’ve written. Only you are ultimately responsible for how much you get done—which is why it’s easy to get demotivated and give up. So, you need to figure out ways in which you can be accountable for your novel this month.
You’ll be glad to hear that you’ve already taken the first step in doing this: you’ve pledged to do NaNoWriMo. You’re here, ready to write. But you can go a step further: ask your friends and family to hold you accountable by checking in on your progress during the month. If you have friends who are doing NaNoWriMo that’s even better; you can hold each other accountable. If you’re on social media, you can share updates every day and be accountable to your followers. There are a lot of ways to do it; so figure out what kind of accountability works best for you!
2. Planning
Planning a novel is definitely not for everyone. This is coming from someone who has pantsed many books! Planning can look different for different people. If you are a true-blue plotter, you might have your entire novel planned from beginning to end, with comprehensive chapter outlines. But if you’re not someone who plots out your entire novel before you’ve written a single word, planning is still important.
This planning can look like a rough outline of your book or finishing your writing day and jotting down a few quick ideas of what to write when you come back to writing the next day, or it can be leaving yourself voice memos as ideas spark when you’re nowhere near your novel. Going into every new day of writing without any idea of what the blank page will hold is very, very daunting, which is why planning ahead can be just the motivation that you need to fulfill your word count goal for the day.
3. Figure out what works for you
I have published four books so far and I’ve written many more. The process of writing each of these books has been very different. I drafted one in three months, one in 30 days, one was completely plotted with a rigorous outline, while one was plotted with a flexible outline, and two were completely pantsed. What I’ve learned about myself is that to make a book work, sometimes I have to try something different.
The only thing NaNoWriMo requires of you is to write those 50,000 words. How you go about it depends on you. You don’t have to write every single day if that doesn’t work for you. You can write at the same time every day, or a different time every day depending on what sparks your creativity. You don’t have to participate in writing sprints if writing with a countdown doesn’t help you focus. The point is that now’s your time to figure out what works for you and what doesn’t. You might be surprised by what methods you swear will never work for you but ends up helping you over that finish line.
4. Have fun!
This is easier said than done, but try to enjoy writing your novel. Especially when it feels difficult. When I wrote 74,000 words in 30 days, it felt like a breeze because I was having a lot of fun with my book. Try to remember what makes you excited about your novel and go back to that when it’s tough. If writing is what you love, find the joy of it and nurture it throughout this month. The more you enjoy it, the more likely you are to keep writing.

Pro Tips from a NaNo Coach: How to Write a Novel in 30 Days
Tumblr media
NaNoWriMo can seem like a daunting task sometimes, for NaNo newbies and veterans alike. Fortunately, our NaNo Coaches are here to help guide you through November! Today, author Adiba Jaigirdar is here to share her advice on how to set yourself up for noveling success:
Welcome to the very first week of NaNoWriMo! I’ve done NaNoWriMo for (almost) every year since 2008. I’ve won some, I’ve lost some, but I’ve learned a lot along the way. In fact, I apply a lot of the tactics I learned in NaNoWriMo to all my writing. When I wrote my second book, Hani and Ishu’s Guide to Fake Dating, I ended up with a first draft of 74,000 words written in 30 days. That wasn’t something I would have thought possible in 2008 when I was slogging through my very first 50,000-word novel. That’s why I’m here today to share with you a few tips and tricks I’ve picked up through my writing journey, in the hopes that they serve you and your novel this November:

Don’t Join a Sorority
So a year and a half ago I joined a sorority called Sigma Lambda Alpha at my university (oh yea, we’re name dropping). I was excited at first but the whole thing was a shit show. They were unorganized, power hungry, immature, gossiping little girls all vying for attention, which was ridiculous, because this is a small school and a tiny chapter of a tiny sorority. Seriously, look it up, my sorority isn’t even the one that shows up first, it’s some honorary architecture frat by the same name.
Well the semester before last semester I had a bad break down, but I kept soldiering through my sisterly duties, because I made a commitment, right? And even when I needed time to study or rest, they still asked for more and I gave it.
Well the next semester (last semester) I told them I needed a break, I told them I needed to go inactive, just for a semester, so I could get my grades up and make more friends and get my medications put to rights to prevent anymore bipolar manic meltdowns. (You ever stayed awake so long you started hearing dogs in your room, scratching at the floor next to you and breathing on the back of your next, despite your bed being 4 1/2 ft off the ground and in a dorm room with no animals? You ever seen shadows in your room, disappearing into one wall, only to float through your window and stand over you for hours? that shit is fucking scary as hell)
They said no. They said I hadn’t been in the sorority long enough to take a break, even though I had medical evidence that said I’d need to go home often to see my doctor and get therapy (medical leaves of absence are totally allowed per our by-laws). And what girl did they send to convince me to stay a fully active member (despite the fact I failed all but 2 of my classes the semester before because of my issues?) the girl who I invited INTO MY HOME (because she was an international student and couldn’t go home for Christmas and I didn’t want her to have to spend it alone) and who told I and my mother (both of us suffering with BPD) that mental illness wasn’t real, medication didn’t work, and people just aren’t self disciplined enough. (And you know what? I forgave that, there was a culture difference and I can understand that.)
But then when I tried to explain to her why I needed to go inactive, just for a single semester! She told me I needed to stay there, I obviously needed people “keeping an eye on me”, as if needing to fake it for 2 dozen practical strangers wasn’t part of the problem. Then she said I needed to stop taking my moms advice, she said my mother never went to college and so she didn’t know anything.
OK
HOLD UP
First and foremost, you shut your goddamned mouth about my mother. I can take you talking shit about me, about my dad and my sisters, but you DO NOT talk about my mother so disrespectfully.
Second, I have been through this kind of breakdown before, I know what I need to do to get past it, I know that I need my therapist and my medication and my family to support me. Her trying to tell me what I need was bullshit.
So I was forced to plead my case in front of the entire executive board and a woman I’ve never met who was on speaker phone. I barely know these girls, we run around but I don’t have an emotional connection with any of them except for one. They pressured me into detailing my spiral downward throughout the last semester, my history with this kind of illness, my, then brand new, diagnosis of bipolar disorder and subsequent cocktail of drugs to control it. By the end I was a sobbing, humiliated mess, begging them to just let me be for a few months.
They let the girl who didn’t believe in mental illness and insulted my mother walk all over them. I was required to log all my study hours (fair enough) but also only be partially inactive. I still had to participate in rush and volunteer and I was forced to go to multiple social events, when I told them I didn’t want to. Only some of this is common for inactive members, and I had more responsibilities added on which were untraditional. In the end, it would have served me better to just stay active, I’d have had less duties.
Then, as icing on top of all this, they had a secret meeting after I left about how to address my mental illness. They told all the execs and most of the other sisters to text, call or “run into me” at least once that semester. Not because they genuinely cared, but because they, and I’m almost quoting here, wanted to be sure that should I kill or harm myself, they couldn’t be held responsible.
Wow. Just wow.
So, insulted, disgusted, frustrated and feeling disrespected, I tried to bow out as gracefully as possible. My letter of resignation was concise, diplomatic and pretty short.
After that they told me they needed all my stuff with letters back, so I returned it all, even a gift from my aunt.
Then they told me I needed to return every gift my big or any other sister had given me. This included cross over (when we become members), big reveal (when we find out who our big is), and actual reveal (when we’re revealed as the newest sisters), which was all annoying but understandable. Then my big told them to ask me for any other gifts she’d given me back, birthday and Christmas gifts, along with a few souvenirs she’d brought me back from her summer trip, all of which had no sorority letters of any kind on them. I was a bit hurt but honestly I don’t care, I don’t want these gifts that bad, and I certainly don’t want those associated memories, you know?
So today I was supposed to meet with them down stairs in the dorm buildings main lobby to hand off the gifts and SURPRISE SURPRISE, no one showed up. I waited 6 minutes then went back to my room because I’m not wasting my time. (I tried texting the president multiple times before, during and after the meeting time, but she never answered, still hasn’t and it’s nearly 4:15 now)
My mom and I were discussing this hand off last week so I texted her and told her she was right about no one showing up despite our agreement, AND
Tumblr media
MOM
She was so done with all their shit when I went back to school and they starting asking for personal medical histories and records that should be private. After that she was like “fuck em, cut em off, Hope” and she’s just gotten increasingly disgusted and infuriated by they behavior ever since.
So anyway, all that to say, I’m going to leave the crate with all the gifts in the very public lobby. If someone steals stuff out of the crate, whelp, maybe they should have showed up like they said?
Y’all, my momma don’t play games and I think it’s about time for me to take a page from her book.

Perhaps the most underrated MLA member?(it's a Rant)
Well my first little rant or something like that, I feel some anxiety!  I felt also the urge to write this because I think that Hanabata has the less screentime among the other MLA members both in the manga and the anime, that makes him so underrated while he was the first character in that organization that I really started to love. Lambda and her appreciation for the wrong bnha characters as usual.
Tumblr media
Anyway.  How to start, thinking about him and due to his little relevance in the original plot I think this character is ambiguous enough but yet  evil. Yeah this was also made to make the League look like the "good" villains in the MVA plot so I expected that, and I wasn't expecting him to be so grieved by Curious' death but his coldness still amazed me a little bit like his determination in using his comrades who actually trust him as human weapons towards the League, and ,even if they are devoted to him a lot and sacrificed themselves voluntarily for the cause, he didn't care about them and seemed to feel nothing watching them killed like Curious did.
Tumblr media
I love the little contrast between him and his quirk: the incite is really unsettling as a passive quirk but fitting for a politician and a demagogue. The most interesting thing for me is that it doesen't work without others because a leader isn't anything without his sheeps. If you cut off his electors Hanabata is just a normal man like others are not a powerful B-ranked villain, but still even being weak compared to other characters I love and laugh seeing how he is so secure and arrogant especially towards Spinner.
Tumblr media
A friend of mine made the hypothesis that he can only use the Liberation ideology just to have more followers and using it as an easy discourse to have more electors but I don't think so necessarily. It isn't totally wrong but I feel also that he  actually believes in that ideal seeing how he acted towards Re-destro, but an ideal brought to the extreme similar to Geten's since he humiliated Spinner for his weak quirk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As my personal fanon theory I'm trying to write simple backstories for some villains, it isn't easy but I don't want to give him a tragic backstory, it doesen't fit for him at least to me. I'm thinking about that.
I'm not so good with rants but at least I try

Je me sens décalé.

@dragvnsovl asked- ☕ Send ☕ for my muse to rant about something in character (accepting)
Tumblr media
"Ya know what I really hate? Lemon scented shit. And lavender scented junk, while we're at it too." Despite the lack of either item in the room, Lambda's lip is already curling in disgust as if he could smell them. "I don't know what they put in either of those fuckin' things but they smell... wrong."
"And not even that! They don't make anything smell good! The second I catch a whiff of any of those things in a room, I'm getting the hell outta there 'cause that shit is overpowerin'!"
A long pause, sitting there with the most miffed look on his face before he adds. "And it gives me a headache!"

You're No Good - Ch. 2
C.J. Bennett is an overly ambitious student who dreams of shadowing her favorite author, Eli Jennings. The only thing standing in her way: Grayson Dolan.
warnings: this is a rough draft of a series i never finished. i'm posting the finished chapters before leaving this account. 🤍
part 1
If American Lit 1102 was C.J.’s personal hell, her job could at least be considered her own reprieve.
Sunnyside Vintage is an old shop off of Sunset, having been open for the last 30 years. It wasn’t the nicest of thrift stores — the clothes always have a weird mothball smell and everything is old - and not in the trendy way.  C.J. loves it. The windows are huge, letting California sunlight wash the stucco walls gold, and the mannequins are always dressed straight out of the 70’s. The pay isn’t always great, but C.J. is allowed to take whatever she wants more than makes up for it in her eyes.
“I just don’t understand. I mean, Stevens has praised me this entire semester. She even told me personally he’s never had a student write as well as me nor pick up on the work as fast as I have. Wouldn’t that be qualities you’d want in an intern, Bea? Even Grayson Dolan would’ve been a better pick.” C.J. turns to her boss, angrily folding flared jeans.
Another reason C.J. loves Sunnyside —  her boss, Beatrice “Bea” Walker. Once a glitzy soap star of the ’50’s, she retired with her husband and opened Sunnyside in the late 80’s. Despite being in her late-70s, she still holds on to the same glamour and charm that made her a household name a century prior.
“Maybe there was another reason. It could be something other then your application.” She croaks, lifting a pumpkin to place next to a costumed mannequin. As halloween rapidly approaches, the store was starting to transform to fit the fall season — hoping to draw in customers to purchase unique costumes for the holiday.
Before she can move to help Bea, the doors chime, signaling an entrance. Walking through with seemingly-glowing skin and a symphonic smile was Alexi, C.J.’s best friend and roommate. It’s hard to miss Alexi whenever she walks into a room — from her bleached-blue hair to eclectic style, she’s never been afraid to follow her own path, something C.J. has always admired. She walks straight to C.J., wrapping her in a loving embrace
“Are you okay? James told me what happened.” Alexi leaves an arm around her, and while C.J. knows it’s supposed to be comforting; all she can think about is how much she wants Alexi to leave. It’s one thing to rant to her elderly boss, someone who would love her in spite of her shortcomings and faults. But to know her own friend group has already heard about her misfortune, sending over someone to comfort and soothe, it was all just a little too pitiful for her to handle.
“Theta’s are throwing a party tonight. It’ll be the perfect pick-me-up, and you can forget all about Evans Jensen-“
“Eli Jennings” C.J. corrects.
“Whoever” Alexi rolls her eyes at the interruption, “is missing out on your incredible talent because of an idiotic professor’s incompetence. Everyone’s going and it won’t be the same without you, C.”
“As much as I would love that, Lex, I really just want to be alone tonight. Shitty beer, cheap Indian food, a sad movie so I don’t have to think about how these past four years have been a waste.”
“Not a waste, first of all. Look, I know that you’ve had this whole plan for your life since you popped out the womb, but shit happens, things change. This isn’t a failure, just think of it as a temporary setback. Plus, when life gives you lemons, you…” She trails off, waiting for C.J. to finish.
“Make lemonade?” She sighs.
“Use it to chase tequila.” Alexi giggles.
“I would go, but I have to close. Right, Bea?"
"Don't use me as an excuse. You should go, maybe find a boy to take home." Alexi makes a face at Beatrice's statement and C.J.'s face heats up.
“You’re going - no more buts. Wear something cute. Something that maybe doesn’t make if look like you were alive for Vietnam.” Alexi’s already leaving, kissing Beatrice lightly on the cheek on her way out.
This was how C.J. found herself standing outside the Theta Lambda  frat house, October air chilling her through her jacket. She shifts her weight between her feet, surveying the small group around her. Alexi talks animatedly on the phone, asking for whoever to meet them out front.
A random person bumps into her, forcing her to spill the contents of her purse onto the dewey grass. C.J. groans, bending down to pick everything up while mentally thinking to herself all of the other things she could be doing right now.
A pair of dirty air forces steps in front of C.J. and she slowly looks up at the girl standing in front of her. She’s pretty, stunning actually. C.J. recognizes her immediately. Channing Williams - social chair of Rho Xi sorority and the key to all the best parties on campus. Dressed in a black romper and red velvet jacket, she’s everything C.J. isn’t and a quiet twinge of jealousy plucks her heart. ‘I bet she’s never lost out on an internship.’ she thinks bitterly.
“Sorry, do you know anyone?”  Channing asks, voice soft and sweet with a clipboard in hand. C.J. looks at Alexi, waiting to hear her answer.
“Not really? I mean we know people, but we aren’t going to be on your clipboard or anything so if you could just let us slide through, I’m sure there’s someone here who could like vouch for us or something?” C.J. wants to slap her — not only did she drag her out in below-freezing weather, but she couldn’t even guarantee them a way inside.
“Well this is a greek-only party so unless you know anyone….” Channing trails off, not openly wanting to kick them out in front of so many people.
“That means no GDI’s.” C.J. didn’t even notice the miniature-sized freshman standing besides Channing. She clearly looks annoyed at the intrusion, keeping her from inside where everyone else is to deal with their little group. C.J. briefly wonders if the upturned stare is a requirement for Rho Xi or if that’s was just especially reserved for her.
“Geed’s?” Alexi repeats, raising an eyebrow.
“Goddamn independents. Y’know, not greek-affiliated.” At this point, C.J. is ready to call the whole night and retire in her bed when she see’s someone appear in between Channing.
“They’re cool, Chan. They’re with me.” Micayla Zhao enters, covered in glitter, sweat and what C.J. is almost sure to be a line of salt from a body shot. C.J. has always considered Micayla the only cool Rho Xi, having had multiple classes with her over the years. Micayla fit right in with their group: smart, beautiful and a wicked sense of humor.
Channing nods, seeming bored and just wanting to get back inside with everyone else. She does a quick finger tap with Micayla (sacred Rho Xi bullshit is what Alexi always calls it) and moving along the line.
“Are your sisters always that charming?” Micayla rolls her eyes, grabbing C.J. to move them through the house to the backyard. A huge bonfire is set up in the middle with a canopy near by for the designated drinking spot. She watches as Micayla confidently moves through the crowd, stopping from time to time to say hey to friends and classmates on the way.
“Most of the time. Look, they’re just possessive over tradition and the Rho-Theta party has always been major exclusive, Channing’s been fighting to make it open to outsiders.” Micayla yells over the thumping bass.
“Yeah, I’m sure they love all the GDI’s.”  C.J. exaggerates her voice, pinching her nose to capture the nasally, valley accent Channing is almost famous for. Micayla stops, and had C.J. not been paying attention, she would’ve ran into her.
“Dude, you’re kind of being a bitch right now. Look, I get your bummed about your internship, but Channing wouldn't have let you in if she didn't want to. Would you rather be getting drunk, in your apartment alone?”
“Yeah, actually.” Micayla stares at C.J. for a second, looking like she’s about to bitch her out. As if Alexi can sense the fight forming, she grabs Micayla by the arm.
“Let’s go get a drink, you look like you need a drink in you.” They both walk towards the house, Alexi mouthing ‘Be Nice’ over her shoulder before disappearing completely. C.J. exhales, counting to 3 in her head before walking over to where drinks are set up.She fills up her solo cup, watching as the fizzy liquid moves closer and closer to the top.  Before she can take a sip, someone bumps into her spilling half the drink over the side.
“Hey, watch it!” A thick Jersey accent exclaims, and C.J. groans, wondering if this night could get any worse.
“Bennett?”
Grayson appears in front of her, denim jacket over a black t-shirt and black jeans. She takes note of the dark spot growing on the front of his shirt, from where she spilt her drink.
“What’re you doing here?”
She simply shrugs, refilling the missing contents of her cup.“I didn’t know parties were your scene. I always imagined in your free time you’re in like a dark room, crying alone to Sylvia Plath novels.”
“Nice to know you think of me out of class, Grayson” C.J. takes a sip of her beer. She moves to walk away, hoping he would take it as an end of conversation.
"How'd you get in? Isn't this like Rho's only?" He asks, following her to the edge of the bonfire. She looks at him, watching as the light frames the features of his face.
"Couldn't I say the same about you? You're not a Theta." He just stares at her intensely until she relents, "Micayla Zhao got me in. Y'know her?"
"We had history together sophomore year. She helped me cheat on the midterms."
C.J. laughs shortly. "Sounds like her."
Grayson opens his mouth to speak again, but is cut off.
“As much as I’m enjoying this conversation, Grayson, don’t you have someone else to bother? Someone who, y’know, actually likes you?” If that comment bothered him, he didn’t show it, continuing talking to her as if they haven’t pissed each other off continuously for the past four years.
“What do you think about Michael Eichler getting the internship spot?”  He asks. As if it wasn’t bad enough that she didn’t get the spot, now she has to sit and rub salt in the wound with her worst enemy.
“What’s there to think about? He got it, I didn’t. Fucking sucks.” He laughs, holding up his own drink.
“Cheers to that.” They both clink cups, and C.J. briefly wonders if the universe is still laughing at her.
"You know, that spot should've gone to one of us." He muses, watching the partygoers continue to stumble around them. He doesn't say anything after that, and she bites.
"Why should it have gone to one of us?"
"Well, think about it. We're both the top of our class, and I know for a fact Stevens has submitted your writing to collegiate magazines. There's no fucking way Michael fucking Eichler should've got that spot over one of us." C.J. pauses. She had known that Stevens appreciated her writing, but not enough to submit it anywhere. If what Grayson was saying was true, why hadn't she gotten the apprenticeship?
"Nothing I can really do about it now. He got the spot, I didn't. I guess I can become a second rate author now." She takes another sip, and Grayson snorts unattractively.
"I'm sure you'll be okay, Bennett. If Stevens like you, I'm sure there's another author dumb enough to want to publish your work too." She glares at him.
"And here I thought we were becoming friends."
"As if you actually would've wanted to become friends with me."
"Oh yeah, that's what I do in between my Sylvia Plath crying sessions. Desperately wish that Grayson Dolan would become my best friend." Sarcasm drips off every word and he looks at her before taking another long sip of his drink.
“You know you’re actually kinda cool, Bennett. When you’re not trying to bite my head off in the middle of lecture”
“Maybe if you didn’t have such shitty takes, I wouldn’t want too.” Whatever retort Grayson was planning falls from his lips when Channing appears by his side, tucking herself underneath his arm.
"Hey, Gray. I got you another drink." Two Coronas hang from her manicured hand, and he whispers inaudibly to her, giggling between the two of them. C.J. begins to feel awkward, and coughs uncomfortably.
“Oh, you’re the GDI from earlier,” Channing looks up at her half-lidded, dark eyelashes framing red-tinged brown eyes.
“Yeah, that’s me.” Channing shifts her weight, biting her lip and feeling like an intruder. "I didn't know you two knew each other?" C.J. supplies, feeling desperate for conversation
"Gray and I had math together freshman year, "They both stare at each other awkwardly, silent tension as they wait for the other to speak.
“So, I’m gonna go." She speaks.
“No, you don’t have to." Channing is already turned back to Grayson, looking like she wouldn't mind C.J.'s exit.
“No it’s fine” Neither Grayson nor Channing seem to protest anymore, and C.J. turns back to see her friends looking at her, both amused and curious at her interaction with the duo. She begins to walk towards them, feet and heart sinking with every step, not feeling any better about her current predicament.
“Hey Bennett,” She turns around to face Grayson. “Think about what I said. About the internship stuff” She just nods, and leaves the pair. The moment she reaches her initial group, Alexi pulls her towards them.
“You and Dolan were just talking and it didn't end in a screaming match. That’s new. What did he want?”
“Nothing. Just typical Grayson Dolan bullshit."Alexi looks like she doesn't believe her, and frankly C.J. doesn't believe herself. She thinks back to what Grayson said, about how they were the only real competition for the apprenticeship. Whatever he meant by that could behandled tomorrow.
"C’mon. Didn’t  you say something earlier today about tequila shots?” She asks
“Atta, girl. That’s what I’m talking about.” She lets Alexi drag her away, sparing one last look at Grayson before entering the fraternity house.

I wasn't that pissed with TPN S2 in the beginning and had a lot of faith in it. Then it all started going down and I just let out all the salt I was keeping when ep8 released. I then now decided that I'm going to just re-read the manga and now bought volume 9 and 10. Atleast this circus wreck was able to make me see TPN in a newer perspective from all the ranting people do. And your posts were really helpful with that and I just loved every point you made.
Let's all just join together as one and re-read the manga to relieve ourselves from this pain and enjoy the happy things in life (◡ ω ◡)
Awww thank you so much Anon this was so sweet 🥺🥺🥺
Yeah I totally agree!!! Manga is 184 chapters long, that is still a fair amount of content to enjoy. And then there's fanfictions, and then there's fanarts!!!! Edits and gifsets!!!!! And then there's me who has yet to finish their tons of unlikely AU posts!!! We may not get weekly content anymore, but I believe there still is lot of content to enjoy. There's the repeatedly teased Ayshe chapter!!!!! The novels (like the Gilda and Don novel everyone????)!!!!! I have a feeling the special exhibition chapter will be unofficially made public soon and I can't wait for everyone to see it, and to spam Ray's angelic smile everywhere like for real look forward to it that is the best smile Posuka Demizu has ever drawn and I'm not even exaggerating. Demizu's occasional Twitter sketches!! Plus I hope Shirai will eventually reveal the Lambda escape plot line in some way, I know he has it there somewhere.
What I'm saying is that as long as the series gives you happiness, there's still plenty of ways to enjoy it. Let's all have lots of fun while we're together in the fandom!!
Tumblr media
#I really should reread the manga... I've wanted to do it for the longest time (╥﹏╥)#Can you believe I've read it only once??**I** can't believe it.#In four days the last volume will be available in my country... When I finally get it I shall probably give the whole thing a reread#But actually I'm just waiting for the novels to come out where I live (╥﹏╥)#Today I edited anime Lambda Norman character design to be Lambda Ray and I'm very satisfied with how it turned out!!!!#No I'm not back from the hiatus and I won't be for another while#But I've decided I won't come back to the normal schedule until I've finally written down all my major ideas + done editing what I want!#And most importantly: answered all of the asks because man those 28 people need some answers :')#What I'm trying to say is: I know people are upset with the anime#and the consequences it had on the fandom (like... Pushing away tons of people I guess) and that's extremely valid#But also it doesn't necessarily mean tpn is dead you know? There's still you! And me!#And a bunch of other people who loves the (manga) for what it is!!!!!!#So yeah let's just have a good time :)#I don't really know where I was going with this but Anon left me flattered ahah#I've got quite a bit of followers now and yet every time somebody says they like my posts I'm like “You like???? What????? Wow. ( ꈍᴗꈍ)”#tpn#the promised neverland#people asks me stuff#I'd say something like “let's all do a manga reread together” but also like I'm the kind of person who reads one chapter per day and-#that's it so I don't think I'm the most indicate person to reread the manga with XD

TPN s02e08
Maaan, what an rollercoaster! We literally go from amazing to fine to incredible. Which kinda makes me angry because this is how this season SHOULD look like. Okay, fine, let’s skip Goldy Pond, but let’s make it equally amazing as this. Just in an anime original way. And this episode proves they COULD do it. It’s a pity that it took them over a half of the season to reach this point. But let’s start from the beginning.
1. So, Peter Ratri is voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya. I was joking with my friend that it might be the reason why the quality of the animation isn’t always the best - because he took a half of the budget. Anyway, I think he is doing a good job with voicing this character right now, but I will wait with the final judgement for the Peter’s meltdown scene.
2. Just a fun fact I read in the manga: apparently when Isabella tells Norman that he is going to a new home, Shirai used the kanji that can also mean ‘cage’.
3. Another thing I loved: they showed how Norman found about Vincent. It’s shown in the extra pages for one of the volumes (I don’t remember in which one right now).
4. Again, I like that the first 7-8 minutes were fully focused on Lambda. I think that this is something that anime-only people really needed (without the context, it’s difficult understand how MUCH those guys hate the demons and why). And for manga readers it was cool to see it in colour. But on the other hand, I’m kinda disappointed that they just showed us the images of the experiments. I think adding movement and sound would make those scenes absolutely terrifying. But hey, at least they showed it!
5. So, we found out a little bit about the escape, buuuut it was nearly as much as I was hoping for. Based on the panels in the manga, we could have already guessed that they used some kind of explosives. I guess we still need to wait for another special chapter/light novel.
6. Annnd after the amazing lambda part we jump to the search... Now, do you know why this whole thing was more engaging in the manga?
Tumblr media
Because we got her. I don’t think it will be controversial if I say that the search for Mujika was really boring. Just a bunch of pictures and building up suspense by showing us that CGI demon. Speaking of that demon!
7. You know what pains a lot in this episode? SO MANY reused animations. I mean, the test solving animation, the demon, the chase, later the demons degenerating and demons eating other demons... look, I know they want to save money, but there are some limits!
8. Apparently Ray, a guy who has been living in the wilderness for months, needs a watch to tell that sun is setting. Just a minor nitpick that I had to point out.
9. Okay, I think we can official crown Norman as our new edge lord. I mean that monologue on the top of the rock... I know that words are from the manga, but when it’s shown like that, it looks more silly than serious. Also, the quote ‘I will gladly become a God or a devil’, doesn’t make THAT much sense here, because we didn’t get this scene:
Tumblr media
To me it felt like unnecessary fan service towards manga readers, but I’m happy for you if you liked this scene. Norman is allowed to become our tiny edge lord.
10. You know what made me angry? Don and Ray shooting the demon, but Emma and Gilda not. Yes, Emma does it a second later, but it became a trend to give her badass scenes to boys. The next scene, however, made me furious.
11. Ray shoots the demon and then he and Emma share a sigh of relief. But then it turns out that the wild demon is still alive and it’s going to eat Emma. Wait a minute... I have seen it somewhere... OH, RIGHT!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, there are situations where Emma is the one who is being saved. The problem is that in the anime she is always being saved by someone - never the other way around. I’m happy that Ray is given stuff to do, but why is it that he is given Emma’s stuff. Come on!
12. Also, how did they know that it was Norman who caused the explosion? How far did they actually went? Are you going to tell me that they were in practically the same location for months and nobody found them? Again, those are nitpicks, but they bother me a lot!
13. Also, apparently the drug is now spread through the air, and Norman’s whole gang is made out of edge lords who need to stand dramatically on the chimneys. I can imagine that during planning they had a conversation similar to: - Boss, do you know what ever genocide needs? - What? - Dramatic JoJo posing over the burning villages.  - Good, good... write that down!
14. Okay, enough ranting, let’s move to the incredible stuff. First of all, the music in those last scenes really reminded me of the Witcher Soundtrack and I LOVE the Witcher soundtrack. So epic!
15. I actually stopped taking notes at this point, because I was so immersed in everything that was happening on the screen. The music, the tone, the colours, the expressions - THIS! This is what this anime should be from the very beginning. Making us care about the demons, and showing that they are also the victims of this system. The actual dread and thriller, the moral issues, engaging plot lines.
16. The scene with the old demon and Norman? Good anime original content? How is it possible? When the old demon asks Norman whether he is a human and he doesn’t answer - because at this point he himself isn’t sure. Yes, give me more of that!
17. Norman being terrified after seeing blood on his hands? That’s a good change from the manga Norman, because it makes narrative sense. Really, CloverWorks, how can you make such an amazing scene after those 6 mediocre and one good episode?
Anyway, it’s difficult for me to add anything right now because I don’t feel like I have enough words to describe how much I loved that last scene. Does it mean I have forgiven this season its previous sins? No, but I’m a happier person right now, and I’m REALLY looking forward into the next episode.
