Since a year is a long time span, I drew 12 cards for this, since 12 months in a year.  Each card doesn’t necessarily represent what will happen each month though.  This area is focused mostly on what to expect for 2023.  

The first card to come out was the 2 of Pentacles.  This is associated with balancing your responsibilities and priorities.  This may involve trying to figure out how to balance all of those things into your schedule.

The second card to come out was the 8 of Wands.  This card is a fast-paced period where there is a lot going on for you.  This makes sense with that 2 of Pentacles and may be a major factor for why you are trying to balance everything that’s going on.

The third card to come out was the 7 of Wands.  This is associated with perseverance.  This can also suggest a bit of a competitive or tense environment.

The fourth card to come out was the 6 of Wands.  This is a card associated with being on your way to success.  It’s also a reminder to be proud of your accomplishments and believe in yourself.

The fifth card to come out was the Knight Of Swords.  This has to do with taking action on ideas.  

The sixth card to come out was the 6 of Swords.  This card is associated to moving towards calmer times.  Basically, I feel like this shows that the busy time from that 8 of Wands does end up settling down later into the year.

The seventh card to come out was the 8 of Cups.  This card is associated with disappointment.  Basically, something wasn’t as fulfilling or didn’t quite work out like you had hoped.  

The eighth card to come out was The Magician.  This card is associated with confidence and using your skills to achieve your goals.  Basically, confidently going after what you set your mind to and knowing that you have the skills you need.

The ninth card to come out was the Ace of Pentacles.  This card is associated with a great opportunity likely coming in for you.  This may be something that benefits you financially, since it is a pentacle card.

The tenth card to come out was the 2 of Cups.  This card is associated with strong connections.  This may suggest a new friendship or relationship showing up this year for you.

The eleventh card to come out was The Chariot.  This card is associated with progress.  It can also suggest travel, so possibly a vacation or move may occur this year.  It may also simply be suggestive of you making progress and growing as a person too as a result of this year.

The twelfth card to come out was the 4 of Pentacles.  This card is associated with focusing on stability.  This may be financial stability, which may include possibly budgeting or focusing on saving money.  This can also be stability in the environment around you.

Under the deck was The Devil.  This is connected to releasing and addressing bad habits.  Basically, I feel like this suggests that 2023 will be a year of growth for you as you realize what behaviors aren’t serving you.

I’m still working on learning these, so I figured I’d throw this in here too.  This is also focused on what to expect this year.

The Bouquet and the Coffin came out.  This doesn’t seem to be a great combination to come out, since together they can mean an unpleasant surprise.  

The Snake was under the deck.  With those other cards, this could suggest that the gift could be kind of passive aggressive rather than one that’s intended to make you happy.  Perhaps the unpleasant surprise is learning that someone you considered a friend isn’t really that great of a friend for you or something like that.

Oracle

This is focused on advice for how to proceed through 2023.

The first card to come out was Self-Care: Time To Cleanse.  Basically, take care of yourself and don’t neglect your own well-being, especially during those busy times.  I feel like this also goes along with The Devil and dealing with negative habits.

The second card to come out was Independence: On Your Own.  Basically, I feel like you focus on yourself this year and being independent.  

The third card to come out was Wild Cat: You Never Know What’s Lurking.  I feel like this suggests that there may be something that catches you off-guard.  Basically, there may be some situation(s) that may have more underneath the surface than it may seem at first.

Under the deck was Friendship: Care Is There.  Basically, just a reminder that there are people you can rely on that care for you.  Even when focusing on independence, that doesn’t mean you can’t rely on friends for support at times.

I had no topic in mind, so I allowed different mystery messages to come through. Welcome pile 1 to your reading!! In your past life, you were a native American man who were born under in the month of September or under Virgo season. It is very clear that you had a lot of confidence in that lifetime but, one day, you took the chance by either escaping or going to war, passing away at a young age due to either an accident you had while going away or by the war. You left behind a lover or some connections who truly loved you. Either way, for some, in that lifetime you learned how to take a chance despite the possible dangers out there that could hurt you or even kill you. For others, you learned how many of those naïve ambitions for greatness and seeking things outside can destroy us in the end or block us from seeing what we already have. This is the lesson you didn’t achieve in that past life. Despite having a loving family or a loving partner who loved you deeply, you didn’t think about them when you left. You thought only on what you didn’t have or what you still had to achieve that there was no acknowledge of how much they meant for you until you lost them because of your death.

The other scenario I see is basically the same as the last one but with the difference that, instead of being born in a tribe, you were an explorer who travelled to America in died trying to achieve success there. The 1500s or 1600s are strong numbers for this pile.

Another scenario I see is that, just like the first option, you were a native American that was a slave and lived to served a richer family in which you worked in the farm. I don’t know why I thought of Brazil and those plantations of sugar or tabaco but, if you feel a strong connection to that place, this could be the reason. You were unhappy with the conditions you lived in and tried, eventually, to escape from the place that kept you captive, no matter if you left behind friends or family, but you were discovered and killed while trying to do so. The lessons for this group are the same. You learned to follow your call, your ambition, and to break those chains but, in the process, you didn’t think fully on the people left that depended on you to survive, especially if you were a married man with a family.

Ok, this pile speaks to me as a highly feminine and spiritual one that may have had many past lives on earth, other dimensions, or it’s just an old soul in general. Why? Because the past life that came to me comes from very ancient times. It comes from the Celtic times so, if you feel connected to ancient cultures such as this one, then this is a confirmation that your soul lived through those times and in those cultures.

In that past life, you were a woman born in July or under the sign of Cancer who lived a peaceful life surrounded by nature and your loved ones. You were an emphatic person, a caring person, always with the energy and compassion to offer a helping hand to those who needed you. A healer, shaman, medium, these are one of the few words that are coming strongly for this pile. Maybe you learned, or your family in that life helped you, to use natural herbs or flowers to heal other people, to connect with ancestor so you could share messages from them to your close ones.

Anyway, from very early on, you displayed an astonishing interest in nature and the things that lived under the same sun as you. Seriously, this pile is a very powerful one with the level of evolution that it can be seen. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if you incarnated in this time on Earth to increase her vibration and help those souls who are struggling so they can evolve as well. Now, the only unresolved lessons I can see here is that some of you feel conflicted each time you are not able to provide help for someone, due to circumstances or lack of knowledge, and you must learn that it is OK to say NO. Welcome, pile 3, to your reading!!

In a past life, you were someone who was really interested in the arts, being that either painting, dancing or singing. Either that or you had a talent of some sort that you wanted to explore or share in relation to the arts. Sex here doesn’t look clear in this spread as it happened with the other piles, but that doesn’t matter in this case. The most important thing here is the rest of the story.

Anyway, you could have been a very pragmatic, realistic or private person with the January and November cards (those are months in which Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, and Aquarius lies on) but also a very unique and fiery personality who wanted to pursue his/her interest. You wanted to build something from your passion, to be happy and successful by doing what you liked, but it seems like you had to face many crossroads in your life to make a jump like that. And part of that crossroads may had come from the inner fears that you carried inside. This is especially true if you were a Capricorn because these individuals, when they are not developed properly, tend to be extremely realistic, pessimistic, can have a perfectionist tendency, so, at the end of the day, they tend to sabotage themselves more rather than help.

Now, having a realistic approach and planning your steps is a good quality to have too, especially if those areas have little source of income in comparison to other careers, and I won’t ignore the fact that life sometimes presents some obstacles of different categories that will turn our attention somewhere, but waiting too long for the perfect opportunity or scenario will soon turn into an excuse that hides the real motive of these delays: fears. Fears of not being good enough. Fears of failing. These fears kept you away of pursuing your dream so, during the rest of your life, you lived trying to imagine what your life would be like if only you had followed your passion. What could have been like. Amazing or a nightmare. A success or a failure. Every option came by your eyes each time the imagination of the what if’s returned.

In that life, you learned how to look things through different perspectives. You learned to be cautious, to make plans and don’t rush into things, to keep a suspicious approach before deciding anything and to think things through when an offered appeared in your life. That’s ok. But if you let those guarded feelings prevent you to take steps on any direction then it will backfire and increase those fears so, the general lessons of pile 3 requires, while making plans to make your ambitions a reality, to take steps forward. You must work along with the Universe in order to make your manifestations a reality. For example, if you want to become an author, first you must write a story. Then, send it to an editorial or sharing some samples with others so the book can be read by others. Writing a story and then doing nothing as if you are expecting to be published next day will not work. I’m sorry if this sounded kind of harsh but it is just an example to make clear where I’m going when I talk about taking steps.

Ever since I saw the film Call me by your name, I’ve been reading for Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer. Their bond is very strong an special. It’s no surprise my first reading here will be a reading for Armie, ft. Timmy. You can say I’m a Charmie, so any hate for the boys will not be tolerated on my page. King of cups (devoted, balanced, intuitive, compassionate, supportive, empath) Someone very devoted to Armie is keeping him balanced. A very supportive male has his back, I think this is Timmy

9 of pentacles (abundance, luxury, self-sufficiency, self-worth) His finances are looking better, with that his self-worth will increase, he wants to do something independent, something useful

King of swords ambitious, fast-thinking, success driven, assertive, focused) He’s impatient, ready for action, ready to focus on work and something useful. Feeling restless (hence the head shaving, maybe?) Sitting around is not good for him.

The chariot (action, success, movement, forwards, control, willpower, determination opposing forces, working towards a goal) Again: wants to move forwards, wants to be working towards a goal. Also something together with Tim I hear, so maybe a project together of some kind

Healthy man(13) (a younger man, good news, also with money matters) Better times are coming for him, also financially. A good period for their relationship, and also jobs wise. All in all better than before.

Stork: something new beginning. In a way Armie starts over again.

Service (sacral chakra) For me: he’s someone always helping, serving, taking care of someone and being there for other people. He’s got to learn to do things for himself too, and learn that he can enjoy that

Destiny (crown chakra) What do yóu want? Take a risk form your own destiny. Now that you have found true love, go for it, together you’re stronger. It’s complicated but so much worth it.

Perception(heart chakra) The heart knows what the eyes can not see. The past is the past, let it be. Upwards and onwards. Allow yourself to feel good. He feels a bit sad at times, but only he can do something about it. Transformation is in the heart. What needs ending in your life? Focus on that. The experience will be richer if you allow it.

Impasse(sacral chakra) he’s a bit blocked, he doesn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. He’s got to allow himself to heal and to feel loved. Refocus, change direction if necessary. It will be okay in the end.

Theirs is still a new relationship (I think they’ve been together in the past, but it wasn’t exclusive until recently. So, they still have to figure out a lot and learn a lot about how to be a couple. Sometimes that’s still a challenge with everything happening around them. But they’re getting better at it.

Stabbed in the back: they had their challenges and difficulties while Armie was away (Caymans, holiday) Tim felt betrayed and blindsided by the pictures with Lisa although he had absolute no right after the PR sham with Kylie, but still he was hurt.

Passion: Insane chemistry, having fun, liking each other equally, sexual thoughts, I think they have plans to meet up soon ( just after the reading Timmy left NY and headed to LA)

How does Timmy feel about Armie

Healing heart: healing from heartbreak. He’s slowly letting go, wants to go back to what they had before Armie went on his extended trip, because that was really good. It happened, let it go.

Cassette: replaying events over in his head, he’s got to let go of the past and also still has a little trouble of trusting Armie completely, but he gets better at it and it will be okay in the end.

Stabbed in the back: he really felt betrayed, but was a bit harsh, knowing what he himself has to do for his work and his reputation, so it wasn’t really fair to Armie.

He’ll find the way back, he always does. I feel him being a bit anxious again, also about work. He very much wants to be with Armie and cuddle. Find some peace and some rest. The arguments they have are meaningless and petty if you look at their story together, but like I said I think they like the banter too.

Worshipping With Limited Space/Materials/Time/Etc.

One of my close friends has been asking me how to worship deities with limited space/privacy/materials/etc, so here it is. A guide on worshipping without space.

Altars

There are many ways to have a small/discreet altar. Some people (including me) even make them online.

Travel Altars: a small altar (usually in a small box or tin can) made for traveling; usually includes a tealight candle, crystals, herbs, coins, and photos.

Discreet Altars: a collection of objects that doesn’t look like an altar but functions as one; usually includes decorations, colors, etc. that don’t directly point to it being an altar but still hold symbols of the deity (i.e. coquette decor for Aphrodite, cat-focused decor for Bastet, etc.)

Candles: literally just a candle; used to focus energy, sometimes contains herbs or crystals inside

Shoebox Altars: a shoebox filled with permanent offerings, statues or photos, candles, and other things commonly placed on an altar; usually stored away until needed

A Binder: a binder filled with art, poems, prayers, information, etc; can also be a notebook or deity journal (see my post about deity journals here)

Bags: bags or satchels of things related to the deity (i.e. coins, herbs, photos, etc.); can be emptied to set up a temporary altar or held when praying/offering/etc.

Books: a collection of books devoted to them; can be books related to their domains or books that remind you of them; used as an offering (reading) or communication (annotation)

Temporary Altars: altars that can be set up and taken down with ease; most commonly includes a small offering plate, a small cup, and sometimes candles, statues, or photos

Photos: a photo collage online or physical containing photos of the Gods and/or their domains; my favorite way to display these is as phone/computer backgrounds or on bulletin boards (similar to a vision board)

Pinterest: pinterest boards; a collage of pins of the Gods, their domains, and things that remind you of them

Tumblr: tumblr sideblogs; reblogging or posting things like quotes, photos, ideas, etc. that remind you of them

All in all, altars really are just a way for you to focus on your deity. In some religions, altars are a designated space for offerings. Depending on how you view them, you can make anything into an altar.

Some people like to use communication methods like tarot, runes, etc. to talk with their deities. For those who can’t openly own/use them or can’t afford them, here are some alternatives.

Cartomancy: using playing cards to divine

Astragalomancy: using dice to divine

Coins: flipping a coin to get a yes/no answer; there are other coin divination methods but many are closed

Bibliomancy: using books to divine; either a book falls on a specific page and you choose a random sentence or you choose a book, flip to a random page, and find a random sentence

Aeromancy: using weather to divine

Pyromancy: using flames from a candle/bonfire/etc. to divine

Capnomancy: using smoke to divine

Offerings

Offerings! One of my favorite things about my worship. Offerings are basically bribes so that your deities like you more /s. But seriously, offerings bring you closer to your deity.

Water: a simple cup of water; can be drank or left out for them

Food: either portions of your meal or food made for them; can be eaten or left out for them

Other Drinks: cups of other drinks; can be drank or left out for them; most commonly milk, alcohol, coffee, or tea

Candles & Incense: candles or incense devoted to them; can be lit or just kept in honor of them

Flowers: bouquets or single flowers; can be bought from stores or found outside (i.e. dandelions)

Honey: doesn’t have to be ethically sourced; can be added to teas and other drinks

Art: your own art or the art of others; includes music, playlists, digital art, poetry, drawings, paintings, instruments, etc.

Coins: many deities enjoy coins as offerings; can be offered to wealth/luck deities or can be offered to a deity because of the image (i.e. a coin with a sun on it can be offered to Apollon)

Devotional Acts

The only thing I love more than offerings. Also used to get closer to deities. Offerings of actions instead of physical things.

Donating: donating to organizations related to your deity (i.e. health organizations for Apollon)

Volunteering: volunteering at places related to your deity (i.e. dog shelters for Ares)

Cleaning: keeping your space and any altar/religious space you have clean and free of dust

Research: learning new things about your deity

Browsing Social Media: browsing a tag/account/etc. dedicated to your deity

Sharing: telling people about your deity

Learning Language: learning the language of your pantheon (i.e. greek for hellenism, italian for roman polytheism, etc.)

You do not need big, elaborate altars to worship. You do not need scheduled offerings, or even any offerings at all. You do not need to use tarot or runes to communicate with your deities. The only requirements for worshipping a deity is wanting to worship them and stating that you are worshipping them. To build from there, you begin building a relationship with them. Offerings and altars may help you do that, but they are not required. The Gods will understand if you do not have the space/time/materials/etc. to worship them how you would like or how others do. The Gods will understand if you do not want an elaborate practice. They will understand.

The Perfect New Year Spread: How to Perform the 12-Step Lenormand Grand Tableau

This spread uses all 36 cards to give you an overview of your life for a full year. It is best done on New Year or on your birthday, but can also be performed anytime. You will need:

2 standard-size Lenormand decks

Reading table that measures at least 75cm x 75cm

Velvet tarot cloth, to make picking up the cards easy

Minimum of 2 hours to interpret and record the spread

STEP 1: Prepare and begin.

Using the first Lenormand deck, lay out the backdrop. All cards should be in order from the first one (Rider) to the last one (Cross). Make 4 rows of 8 cards, and place the remaining 4 cards in the middle of the 5th row.

Shuffle the second Lenormand deck while asking, “What will happen to me in the year ahead?”

Lay out the cards over the first deck, dealing from the top.

STEP 2: Note the significators.

There are two significators, Gentleman and Lady. If you are male, you are the former; female, the latter. The other is your lover.

If the significators are facing each other, the love is mutual. If you are single, you will meet someone soon.

If the significators are facing away from each other, a breakup is possible, or a relationship is impossible.

If only one significator is facing away, that is the person who is less committed or uninterested in the other.

STEP 3: Read the first 3 cards as the urgent message.

String the cards like a sentence. You will find the instructions here. Keep referring to it for the next steps.

STEP 4: Read the corner cards as the main theme.

In the example above, the corner cards are Sun, Letter, Anchor and Crossroads — the 4 that form a box. Read them like a sentence in that order.

STEP 5: Read the heart cards as the secondary theme.

In the example, the heart cards are Moon, Fish, Bear and Key — the 4 in the middle. Read them like a sentence in that order.

STEP 6: Read the fate cards as the immediate future.

The fate cards are the last four: Lilies, Ship, Cross and Whip. Read them like a sentence in that order.

STEP 7: Read your past, future and present statements.

Look at the significator. If it is Lady…

Whatever is to your left is a statement about your past (Sun, Heart, Gentleman, Ring, Coffin, Snake).

Whatever is to your right is a statement about your future (Letter).

Whatever is on the same column as you is a statement about your present (Stars, Mountain, Bouquet).

Read cards in the past as a sentence, in the order I have listed. Do the same for the future and the present.

STEP 8: Read the mini spreads within the tableau.

Look to these cards for these subjects:

Heart for Love

Gentleman (or Lady) for Lover

Moon for Work

Fish for Finances

Tree for Health

House for Home

Ship for Travel

Every card that is beside a subject card should be read. These are called touching cards. A subject card, along with its touching cards, form a mini spread within the grand tableau.

For the Love spread, the subject card is Heart, and the touching cards are Sun, Gentleman, Clover, Garden and Mice. For the Work spread, the subject card is Moon, and there are more touching cards this time: Gentleman, Ring, Coffin, Mice, Fish, House, Bear and Key.

To interpret every mini spread, read its cards horizontally first, then vertically. As always, read them like a sentence.

Then mirror them. Mirroring means pairing the card with the one that is opposite to it in the mini spread. Read the two cards as a sentence.

In the Love spread, Sun and Gentleman mirror each other. Clover and Mice do too. In the Work spread, here are the mirrors: Gentleman and Coffin, Mice and Fish, House and Key, Gentleman and House, Ring and Bear, Coffin and Key.

STEP 9: Read the cards against the houses.

This is where you will need the backdrop — the first deck underneath your spread.

Read every single card, from Sun to Whip. Read them in pairs (as with mirrors), with the card as the first part, and the one beneath it as the second.

In the example, Sun has Rider (the first Lenormand card according to the proper order) beneath it. And Heart has Clover. 

Take note of cards that fall in their native house and cards that fall in each other’s native house. If you find Anchor beneath Anchor, it means that card’s meaning will manifest strongly in your life. The same is true if you find Fox beneath Snake and Snake beneath Fox. Make sure you remember those two cards.

STEP 10: Count round by 9 to find 5 cards.

Starting from your significator, count 9 cards. Note which card that is. Keep counting and noting the 9th card until you have 5 cards. Always start the next count from the last card selected.

Read these 5 cards like a sentence. Then read the mirrors: Lady and Gentleman, Stars and Bouquet.

Add the playing card values to get the Lenormand card number.

Ace is equivalent to 1, 6 is of course equal 6, and so on. But Jack is 11, Queen is 12 and King is 13.

In this example, the values are : 1 + 6 + 8 + 12 + 1 = 28. The 28th Lenormand card is Gentleman. Read that card as a message you need to remember.

If the sum is greater than 36, simply add the two digits.

STEP 11: Summarize and record the reading.

Repeat to yourself and note down:

The urgent message

The main theme

The secondary theme

The immediate future

The future statement

The cards that fall in their native house, if any

The cards that fall in each other’s native house, if any

The message found by counting round

STEP 12: Note down any date predictions.

Remark any possible date predictions by looking at the house where the subject cards from Step 8 have landed.

In the example, Fish — the subject card for Finances, landed in the house of Child. That is August. Whatever the Finances mini spread revealed could happen in that month.
