Peter Carroll's description of orange magic (i.e. what would traditionally be considered Mercurial) being powered by fear/anxiety reminds me a lot of the various posts on here about how people with unmedicated ADHD often find this to be the only way we can get ourselves to do anything.

Interestingly enough, "cerebral excitants" (i.e. the category under which most ADHD medications fall) are listed in row 12 (the magician, le bateleur, which is ruled by Mercury) in Crowley's Liber 777.

Planetary Correspondences of Jupiter

From Liber 777, incenses appropriate to Jupiter are Saffron and "all generous odors." Associated plants are Hyssop, Oak, Poplar, Fig, Arnica, and Cedar. The associated metal is tin, and the associated precious stones are amethyst and lapis lazuli.

The god-name in Assiah for the path of Jupiter is ABA (Aleph-Beth-Aleph) or AL AB (Aleph-Lamed, Aleph-Beth). It is far more common for Jupiter operations to be taught using Al or El as the god-name for Jupiter, but this is actually the god-name appropriate to Chesed, the sephira of Jupiter. It appears to be quite effective, and allows you to make a meaningful distinction between sephiroth and paths in the context of the ceremonial forms.

I'm beginning to feel called to Babalon so here are a few things I associate with her. Crowley is a questionable source at best, and most other credible works have been destroyed by xtians, so I feel that personal association will work best in devotion/working with her.

-Dragon's blood incense (most deities like this, I see!), other scents being fruit, flowers, and incredibly specific perfumes (like those ones on TikTok that are like "how to smell like a library")

-Finery, like gold and jewels- the aesthetics of royalties

-Architecture. Like the above point, aesthetics of royalties

-The colors red, gold, brown, purple

-The numbers 7 and 777

-Livestock and farm animals, especially goats, cattle, and livestock protection dogs

-Crystals: onyx, jasper, ruby, garnet, rose quartz, tiger's eye, citrine

Aleister Crowley says in his "Qabalah", "Now it is wrong to say that this idea of the unity of the divine spirit is identical with this idea of the muddle of chaos —unless in that exalted grade in which "The One is the Many"". Of course Crowley expects us to reject this idea that The One is the Many and instead accept the interpretation, attributed to "the compiler of Liber 777", that the "The One", the unity of the divine spirit", is "the Spirit of the Living God". But what if we were to say that The One is actually indeed the Many, and what if we were to accept that this also means that the totality of divine spirit is also what Crowley takes to be "the muddle of chaos"? A point of interest for me is the way that the totality of Platonism is not necessarily in agreement that The One Stands Above The Many. In fact, as Gregory Shaw notes, Plato's Parmenides holds that The One actually must be the Many, and this idea is also perhaps reflected in the philosophy of Damascius and Iamblichus in their affirmation of the One in its very multiplication rather than its separation from becoming and multiplication. So then, if we accept Crowley's meaning as this being chaos, then what might arise from this notion of The One? Something interesting, I bet.

hey! I wanna ask about the tree of life, specifically.

I wonder if there can be parallels made between the tree of life and astrology and if it would make sense. I keep fixating on Layla's voice-line during the Parade of Providence limited-time event when she said that Ley lines are similar to celestial bodies with fixed orbits, and although the sky is fake, we know Teyvat's foundation is based on Ley Lines. To a lesser degree, but perhaps because this is a stretch, but I've been trying to find any connections between ruling planets of zodiac signs and the ideals of the Seven, or alternatively, just the elements themselves. It's the idea that Genshin makes a lot of parallels between stars and astrology, but less so towards planets that makes me feel suspicion but it might just be me. This is a great question! The short answer is that "traditionally," there isn't an association between astrology and Kabbalah - Jewish astrology is a bit different.

I'm not as familiar with Hermetic Qabalah, but that is where these ideas get aggregated. Aleister Crowley's Liber 777 makes links between tarot and Kabbalah, and the major arcana of tarot are also associated with the planetary objects. For example, Crowley assigned the paths between the sefirot to different cards from the major arcana. I've also seen diagrams of the tree with the sefirot labeled with planets+sun and moon but I haven't found a source for those - it might also be from Crowley's collection and mixing of these concepts.

Fun fact, one of the people involved with combining Kabbalah and tarot was Eliphas Levi, who has been eidolon-ified on top of the Tower of Gestalt. Bet he would love that....

About the planets: you should definitely check out the Seven Heavens in Gnosticism, which are created from Chaos (like Ein-Sof) by Yaldaboath and ruled over by the Archons. Each of the heavens is associated with a planetary body. Schwan has a theory that each Genshin region corresponds to a layer of the heavens, so the traveler is basically following the path that the Gnostic soul must take to ascend to the Monad.

i understand that it's quite silly to complain about some part of something so unsystematic and arbitrary, but Liber 777 (Crowley's big list of symbolic correspondences) does not include Fortuna in its list of Roman gods, nor Tyche in its list of Greek gods. this seems like a remarkable omission to me. right away, the Wheel of Fortune (which is derived from medieval Fortuna iconography) from the tarot list is necessarily mispaired. it's placed in position 21 and therefore pairs with Zeus and Jupiter in the Greek and Roman tables, and with Amun-Ra on the Egyptian tables—the lords of the heavens. what is the basis of that correspondence? of course it really needs to be with Fortuna and Tyche and, once you include them, Isis, who was syncretized with Fortuna in the Roman world.

another complaint: the Scandanavian list does not include Skaði or Iðunn. the only goddesses are Freyja and Frigg, who are made to fill roles which aren't appropriate to them. Freyja appears at 7 and 14, the same as Aphrodite. Crowley obviously thinks of Freyja as the Norse Aphrodite. i believe he thinks that because they are both women. apart from that, what do they have in common? i think it makes the most sense to pair Aphrodite with Baldr, since his stories revolve around his beauty. Freyja is a goddess of war, but in a very specifically Germanic sense, as a chooser of the slain. she is not appropriate to pair with Ares, who makes war, nor really with Hera, who is more like Skaði, the huntress (Iðunn can be Persephone, since they both get kidnapped and handle fruit)—she is more like a fate. well, today i read an article (click) which argues that Freyja has an association with ships: her hall, Sessrúmnir, is listed as a famous ship in the Prose Edda. they spin this into an argument that Freyja is the "Isis of Suebi" mentioned in Tacitus' Germania who is associated with ship symbolism. if this is the case, Tacitus has provided the attribution for us; Fortuna-Isis, the blind, inarticulate virgin who holds the rudder, is our unlikely correspondence for Freyja.

oh, and don't take this post too seriously—you probably shouldn't think about mythology in this esotericist way. we are as intersted in the differences between characters as we are their similarities. there isn't really an equivalent of Scandanavia's female dooms anywhere else in the world, and while it's interesting to think about Fortuna and Freyja's combined associations with fate, fertility and fortune, Fortuna has nothing to do with the slain and Freyja has nothing to do with chance. i just had to get it out of my system.

Tiriel Planetary Intelligence of Mercury ☿️ Talon Abraxas

From Liber 777, incenses appropriate to Mercury are Mastic, White Sandal, Nutmeg, Mace, Storax, and "all Fugitive Odours." Associated plants are Vervain, Herb Mercury, Major-lane, Palm, and Lime or Linden. The associated metal is mercury (quicksilver) or any alloy, and the associated precious stones are Opal and Agate. Note that for the purposes of creating a talisman, the stones need not be gem quality and can be purchased inexpensively.

The plants may be dried and ground into a powder using a mortar and pestle and can be sprinkled onto the paper talisman as an offering to the angel. Likewise, a piece of metal alloy (such as brass), opal, or agate may be placed on top of the paper talisman for the conjuration. You then use the paper to wrap up the whole thing when the ritual is complete and somehow bind or tape it together.

The god-name in Assiah for the path of Mercury is Azbugeh (Aleph-Zayin-Beth-Vav-Gimel-Heh). It is far more common for Mercury operations to be taught using Elohim Tzabaoth as the god-name for Mercury, but this is actually the god-name appropriate to Hod, the sephira of Mercury. This is a key distinction that few teachers make, and is a method that we have explored at the local Leaping Laughter Lodge Ritual Workshop. It appears to be quite effective, and allows you to make a meaningful distinction between sephiroth and paths in the context of the ceremonial forms.

TALOS 777 - The Volkyr

Contact with the Volkyr was first established during the 25th century, when a Volkyr ship's distress signal reached the outer quadrant 76 of the Solar System. The United Nations Spatial Authority sent a rescue vessel to the location, first establishing contact with the Volkyr Rebel leader, Salamyr, a group of Volkyr liberators who started the Volkyr-Ether war for the liberation of Volkyr Slaves.

While the Ether present themselves as ethereal humanoid genderless beings, or gods, the Volkyr are, much like the Ethers a mirror of a mythological being, a dragon.

Also shapeshifters, most Volkyr due to the repression of the Ethers have lost the ability to shapeshift back into their original dragon form, being stuck in a half human half draganoid form. Volkyr are proud and beastly, ambitious and often called the space hoarders or space magpies. They are easily swayed by shinny and humanity originally gained their favour by using glass, something the Volkyr did not use.

Volkyr control elements at a subatomic level, especially radiation, being able to set things on fire with their breath. They are covered in scales and have spikes in key areas of their bodies. Depending on the subspecies they may or may not have wings, fins, feathers or gills. They also have horns, the shape of the horns and the number relying their social hierarchy.

Despite the fact that all Volkyr appear masculine in both voice and bodyshape, Volkyr are 100% intersexual. They are a matriarchal society as the Volkyr who mother the next generation are often the rulers of their society. Volkyr were originally a hunter-gatherer species, with a culturally rich civilization and mythology. Volkyr have since denounced the Ether and a warmongering slaver species who has erased and destroyed much of the Volkyr culture and history and actually reduced them into 'monsters' of mythology.

Much of Volkyr technology is actually reconverted ETHER and Watcher technology. They have since allied themselves to the Watchers, a sinthetic-mechanical species that tries to preserve the peace in the Universe and prevent corruption of the space time continuum.

Since their liberation, Volkyr have evolved greatly in terms of society, technology and culture, trying to rebuild their world of New Volah. Volkyr are currently a mostly militarized society, often working alongside the Watchers as a species attempting to keep the universe safe.
