Hello Resident Evil fandom.

I need to get this out there and have other people share in this concept. Without further ado, its time to ramble about my AU.

Garden of Eden AU.

I created this AU kind of on a whim after seeing a piece of fanart. The general consensus is that Carla Radames replaces Albert Wesker... not in role or anything, but in Chris's life.

Carla Radames betrays, and then promptly kills Chris Redfields entire team. Chris is wracked with grief and anger and betrayal... and then something changes within him. Suddenly, he's S.T.A.R.S again... for just a moment. He feels betrayed and lost and angry.. and his brain immediately spirals. Carla's on the other end of it now, where he used to be.

As he and Piers corner her on the roof, he notices that sniper from the helicopter and tackles her out of the way of the shot. Carla manages to escape alive, perhaps even taunting Chris for being foolish enough.

Its all so familiar.

Piers is furious, he demands to know what Chris was thinking pulling a stunt like that. Chris has no answer for him, because he doesn't know either. He cant acknowledge whats really happening (projection of Wesker onto Carla) because its all so subconscious and desperate. He doesnt make an active effort to search her out, but everytime they cross paths from then on, something is different about Chris.

In this AU, Chris does find out that was not Ada. His only reservations were that Leon really cared about her... and now he doesn't have that barricade anymore.

Chris loses his mind. He becomes utterly obsessed with Carla, and for what its worth, she reciprocates it... for her own selfish gain. She recognizes this sick little soldier is wrapped around her finger.

He's chasing the familiarity he had with Wesker. Carla exists for that, its indistinguishable in his broken mind.

Also; things Carla says directly to Chris in the span of 6:

"Still haven't had enough, huh? Even after losing all your men – again?"

"Thanks for the escort. Here's something to remember me by."

"Oh, is the big, bad soldier going to shoot me?"

"Looking for me, boys? Welcome to China."

"With your track record I gotta say, I'd hate to be a member of your team, Chris. But where are my manners? I mean, really, I should be thanking your men…for being such good test subjects."
