My completed bind of HEX by maidenmothercrone! This one gave me a little bit of an ass kicking bc I just had to gild every chapter heading, which ended up being like 200 chapters in all. The fact that people still call Lucerys ‘Your Grace’ even now is something so interesting and it’s very dear to me. He will forever be the Kingmaker, Witch King, King Consort, Lucerys Targaryen, and no one will forget that no matter who sits the Iron Throne.

Also, Lucerys using his manipulative charms, ‘“They will never love you as they love me.”’?? Go off. This is the beastie we all know and love. My man knew what he wanted and he exhausted all of the methods available to him until he got it. Go with your man, Lucerys, you go.

And Aemond, my love, I know you’re tired and you can rest now. You can even have your beastie. It’s gonna be great.

Hey i wanted to say I agree with offdutymodel in how well you handled the discussion because I would've absolutely started fighting these anons. You were so calm in the face of .. whatever the fuck that was.

I've been here since December so I've seen many blowouts in the fandom (mass exodus of authors and mass deleting/privating, twitter fights, transphobia and grooming allegations, tumblr dumpster fires) but I can say the quality has not decreased because that only means they haven't been reading the new fics (i agree with the anon that brought up mooniepond and nocturnal_pollinator who came in both with a bang).

And there are still ongoing fics of insane quality (non abo like: give you back to me by anon, forget me not by unohanabbygirl, the beast you made of me by maidenmothercrone, hands searching slow in the dark by monkkeyslut, love and anarchy by yieldmaden. Or abo ones like love is a misty dream by corviids, like the stars that shine by wynchwood, all i had to give by monkkeyslut, vice and violence by garmr). Those are just some of the ones I managed to read because I can't keep up despite reading solely lucemond for almost a year now.

Other authors too like riderbub, hypothesistest, offdutymodel, qiuwithaq, maya28, myl0rdstrong, draconarius, hellomellowyellow, beatwice, asklena, minos_TT, brokecherry marmiel, lucerile, oceansoflove continue to write great works for the fandom tirelessly and deserve appreciation and recognition.

+There are the existing works of avonne, nottodaythough, grimsoul, lucerysinthesky, thehundredthpoet, lockandkey, future_medicine, sasha_bo, 10tacles, aeucerys/bladeyinyuejun that are all available to read.

I'm doubtful that this was anything but bitterness speaking because the fandom is far from dead. This is the kind of entitlement and talking down that got us in many of the issues that plague this fandom, speaking about freely given content made by someone through sweat and tears only to call it "not pulitzer worthy" is just.. stomach churning at best. I invite them to start writing something themselves just so they'd see how grueling it can be, especially with life coming at you and people criticizing you. Rose colored glasses for the past are whatever but we're not going back in time are we?

Thank you for highlighting authors because God knows they deserve appreciation, and so do you. I thought to send this as anon but I won't just so you'd have an idea of who's behind the words.

Anyway i really didn't want to dwell on negativity, I wanted to highlight some of my favorite authors and works but get dragged to speak by my annoyance lol.

There’s so many incredible authors here, like you mentioned. I don’t know who is a fandom oldie or who isn’t. But I don’t see why it matters if the “quality” lowered in their eyes. This is fic, and it is free! All I know is that we’re writing our silly little incest ship in a small space. And I’m really happy to be here. I’m enjoying what I’m reading and that's what matters. :]

If someone doesn’t enjoy the fandom, I cannot control that. No amount of “hate” or "insults" or “discourse” (it wasn’t, lol) can change my own individual, unique experience.

The only thing I can surmise from the anon asks I got were: someone embittered with what the fandom offers. Or a bitter/jealous person who supposedly left the fandom/still hanging on. Or thirdly, a person that isn’t part of the ship at all that thrives on the chaos. Maybe all of the above. Also, weirdly, weirdly obsessed with Lita for some reason based on what both me and Offduty received recently.

I don’t know. That was before my time, so I’m not fully aware of everything. But, I sincerely wish those hurt by whatever happened, that they genuinely heal and find a good outlet. Sincerely. Camping out in my ask box and other writers’ ask boxes isn’t normal or healthy behavior.

Last but not least, the only thing I can do? Support and give love to fics and fan art. Create, like you said. And I will.

6. Are there any fics from others you reread all the time? Oh yes plenty, the more I reread, rewatch, relisten, etc, something the more I love it, so when I like a fic I’m gonna reread it for sure. The ones I reread the most are siblings are the poor man’s love story by Nyaow, there’s glory ahead but our love will be forgotten by chemicalpixie, Diagnosis and HEX (a serie but when i start one i have to read them all) by MaidenMotherCrone, Until you bloom by Miralana (not finished but i still read it like 3 times), this little girl breaks furniture, this little girl breaks laws by Bandydear and grey ridge(ril liatroma) by molter (this fic is the first and only one that put word on my very complicated feelings for Otto, I sometimes reread chapter 7 only and cry like a baby, it’s that’s good). Yes it’s a lot but like i said i really like rereading;))

9. Do you write every day? If you wrote today, share a sentence of what you’ve written! I used to but this year has been really difficult and I’m just starting to write regularly again. This is an extract of what i wrote today:

Her eyes are rimmed with red but no tears linger on her cheeks. “Do you remember the day I first met Rhaenyra? It was raining just like today.”

Somewhere in the castle Helaena is still screaming, and somewhere outside Aegon is still hanging every ratcatcher that catches his eyes.

The storm drowns out the rest of their grief.

18. What’s one of your favorite lines you’ve written in a fic? Oh this hard to choose😅 my actual favorite is not published yet but for the 2d it probably would be this one:

Black punches him so hard that his nose starts bleeding and the fight that follows is too violent for children their age. When the teacher finally separates them, they are already bruised, with torn clothes and mud on their teeth. They’re both smiling.

*just as a note, these are pdf’s that are saved in signature order. so all you have to do is print it out (flip on short edge) and then count out the signatures (or, find the center of the signature. it will have two pages numerically next to each other. ie 12 and 13 on the left and right would be the center, and everything else folds out from it). most of them are 40 page signatures, but a few are smaller.

Could you share some of your Lucemond fic recs?

I have a lot of lucemond recs, but the ones I like the most are these:

the beast you’ve made of me by MaidenMotherCrone. Probably my favorite hotd fic of all time. Lucerys is taken hostage by the greens in Storm’s End, and it all goes downhill from there. Incomplete, but has consistent updates. Currently it only has eleven chapters left. If you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know I always go crazy when this updates.

Hiding in plain sight by Unohanabbygirl. A bit dark, but not extremely so. It’s abo, Lucerys goes into heat and triggers Aemond’s rut. He is raped by Aemond in Storm’s End, and left for dead. He’s nursed back to health by strangers who don’t know who he is, while everyone else thinks he’s dead. Updated pretty consistently.

Forget me not by Unohanabbygirl. A modern reincarnation au. Everyone remembers their past life except Lucerys. Targaryen royalty, as well as important figures from the ASOIAF saga, are historical characters. It treats topics like sexual assault and drug abuse, as well as trauma in general. One of the best fics I’ve ever read. It’s incomplete, but updates are consistent.

The — heir of the tides; series by thehundrethpoet. It’s a canon divergence fic where Lucerys takes out his eye on Storm’s End. Series is incomplete, but the first two parts are done and the third one is about to be completed and updated consistently.

The Key To Your Heart by Avonne. A modern au about lucemond’s relationship. I don’t know how else to describe it without spoiling it, but I enjoyed it a lot. It’s completed, and a second part is currently being written.

Calendario de Adviento para una muerte asegurada by Aynnita. It’s written in Spanish (my first language). It’s also a modern au where the Targaryens are still royalty, and lucemond go to a boarding school in the North. Lucerys broke his engagement to Rhaena, and his parents want to know why. He tells them he has a partner, and promises to introduce them on Christmas Eve. Of course, both sides of the family are estranged. It’s incomplete but not abandoned, with only one chapter before it’s finished.

The gilded lilies series by corviids. After being believed to be dead, both Aemond and Lucerys return to King’s Landing just as Rhaenyra is taking control of the Red Keep, and it seems the gods are planning something for them. It’s abo, Aemond is an Alpha and Lucerys an Omega. This is my favorite out of the few fics with this concept. The main piece is incomplete, but it has several one shots post canon that are finished.

Arsonist’s Lullaby by orphan_account. Aemond sides with the blacks during the dance because he falls in love with Lucerys. It’s one of my favorite takes of this particular canon divergence, and it’s completed.

The Holiday by archimedesprinciple. A modern Christmas au where Aemond is part of law enforcement and Lucerys works at a bank. They are still related, but the incest is toned down to ‘standard levels of modern aristocracy’. There are many unresolved issues in this one, but it’s completed and has a happy ending.

I hope you like these recs! I scoured my ao3 bookmarks for these ones, but there’s more I didn’t add on account of them being in completed and not being updated for a while.
