This is more a biology thing, but body fat and weight play a role (depending on genetics is how much of a role) in breast density and tissue.

Oda is a great writer, but as an artist, he draws women unrealistically.

I've been surrounded with many women in my life of all shapes and sizes, and even though I love how Oda writes women (considering he is Japanese and most Japanese manga authors aren't that good at writing women) he draws them unrealistically, and idolizingly, to keep it attractive to the male audience, which are Japanese teenage boys. The most recent anime I watched Vinland Saga actually keeps the body proportions of women there quite realistic. I think that's the only one off the top of my head I can think of. Women of Attack on Titan, too, I think.

Anyway, hourglass figure is achievable (breasts depend again on so many factors) but not One Piece Women Body Type Achievable.

I fully support training to achieve any body type/shape, as long as you remain healthy and don't let sth like a manga & anime (drawn mostly by men) give you false implications that is how you should look bcs it's imaginary and overexaggerated to favour itself to a male audience.

Oda covers all body shapes for men, but draws women with only the hourglass shape. It's because he needs the women to ALL be attractive to the guys buying the manga. That's unfortunately how the shonen manga industry works. Even if he writes the women very well, he needs to make them all the universal "beautiful woman" ideal so the male audience pays attention.

It makes me sad for all the girls & women reading the manga/watching the anime. They don't see themselves in any of the female characters (at least by body type). It breaks my heart. Thankfully, the Live Action One Piece is on the right track to fixing it! 👍🏻

Phalloplasty Procedure Full Outline Offical (Radical Free Flap Procedure)

What is phalloplasty/ phallo?

Phalloplasty - "includes several surgical procedures that aim to construct male genitalia that looks as natural as possible. The surgery is divided into several steps that may vary from patient to patient. Generally, they are the three following steps" (Source1) . We aren't going to count if the prerequisite of hysterectomy. Since my surgical procedure, they have removed the requisite of an oophorectomy, that procedure is now optional thanks to the always advancing technology.

The first step:

a surgery that consists of creating a penis from a skin flap from a specific area of your body (most common areas are forearm and lower back) of the body that you would chat about with the surgeon(s) and that specific skin will be grafted to the genital area.

The second step:

Here, surgeons construct the urethra that will llow urination. This is known as Urethra Lengthening (often referred to UL) (Urethra Lengthening Procedure Post)

The third step:

At this stage, you will receive testicular and erectile implants that will allow for penetrative sex. Note: this is not the only type of phalloplasty sugerical options.

The first surgical step consists of:

the creation of a penis or phallus from a skin flap and fatty tissue of the donorn site involving the removal of blood vessels (to create a blood supply) and nerves (this is where nerves are disconnected and reconnected, which can take some time to gain full tactile function or feeling. This skin will be grafted to the genital area where a penis would naturally sit on your body. The next part of the procedure is:

"the burial of the clitoris at the base of the phallus;

the creation of the penile urethra within the phallus;

the lengthening of the biological urethra;

the creation of the glans;

the creation of the scrotum;

the closing of the vaginal cavity; and

the removal of a layer of skin from the thigh to compensate for tissue loss

on the donor arm." - (Source1) Some of these things are not the same for every surgeon, be sure to ask about if your clitoris could be not buried for example, or different pumping systems, varying styles in surgerical procedures from clinic to clinic, even surgeon to surgeon.

The second step consists of the construction of the urethra:

This procedure connects the penile urethra so the part of the urethra inside the phallus itself to your biological urethra that was elongated in the first step of the phalloplasty surgical procedure. The connection of the urethra is made by creating a tube from the skin of the scrotum between the openings of both parts of the urethra.

Note that the anatomical makeup of the phallus is composed of only skin, fatty tissue, blood vessels, and nerves.

It does not contain any muscles or a sphincter (a muscle that opens and closes like your butt does aka "the breakwall"), which means that after the second step, you may have to empty your urine either temporarily or permanently manually from the portion of the phallus by applying pressure to the phallus. A minimum of a six month waiting period is necessary between this and the next stage planning.

Permanent hair removal from the area that will be used to construct the urethra is also required to avoid complications (unless during the consult the doctor states otherwise). Note that it is impossible to determine in advance which area will be depilated since it must be evaluated after Step one. It is at this time that you will receive information about hair removal,

The third step:

Involves insertion of implants (erectile device and testicular implants).

This procedure will allow you to be able to get an erection in your penis (phallus) and now you have the ability of penetrative sex. Erectile Devcies Post

You will have to wait a minimum of three to six months after the second step (healing and surgeon(s) pending) and have no urinary problems before planning the third step. If complications do come up, they will have to be completely treated and healed before the implant surgery can be performed.

"Depending on the surgeon's assessment, the second and third steps may be reversed." (Source1)

Everyone has to decide whether to undergo one, two, or all three steps. Meaning you can stop after any phase/step of the three)

This choice is super personal and must be made according to what you need, your expectations of the outcome, and the impact it has on your daily life.

There are a few factors that may influence your decisions, such as wanting to urinate while standing, the desire to have penetrative sex, having more masculine genitalia, etc.

The estimated time to complete all three stages of phalloplasty can vary from two to three years, including the waiting I'm between surgeries.

These results may vary according to the age, weight, quality, and elasticity of the skin at the donor site, the scarring process, lifestyle habits and the overall health of the patients, healing, how well you take care of yourself, etc. The radial forearm free-flap technique is shown to produce the best results from bottom masculinizing surgery options.

Mandatory Prerequisites for Phalloplasty:

Hysterectomy with removal of the cervix done minimum six months before the phalloplasty procedure. *There are two options for this: removing the uterus only (called "total hysterectomy"), or option two removing the uterus, fallopian tubes, and the ovaries, also called "total hysterectomy with salpingo-oophorectomy"*

Permanent hair removal (second step when recommended to start). The recommended options are laser hair removal or electrolysis, which may be more beneficial for results. from the area of the phallus donor site to prevent complications with hair growth (fistuals), which can cause issues such as infection and even surgerical intervention to fix the issue area(s). Surgeons typically like to see the graft site not have any hair growth for a minimum of three months.

Talk to your primary physician and/or gynecologist to help you make an informed decision about your choice on the type of hysterectomy you get.

And talk to your surgeon and your primary doctor about which option of hair removal is better suited if one is not insisted on you using it.

A vaginectomy can be removed since only 2 cm will be used for the phallus.

Body Mass Index (BMI)

Before phalloplasty can be performed, it is important to know that you must have a healthy weight or have a BMI under 30, and you can not have excessive fat accumulation in your abdominal area.

"Being overweight and abdominal fat can compromise the connection of blood vessels during the procedure and lead to significant surgical complications.

If your BMI is 31 or higher you be most likely required to lose weight before the surgeon will perform the procedure.

Patients with a high BMI also have a decreased potential for healing and decreased satisfaction with surgical results." - (Source1)

Voyager rewatch s4 ep6: The Raven

A backstory episode for Seven, which I think helped to humanize her quite a bit. Even back in the day, when I was pretty prejudiced against her for replacing Kes, I still appreciated this episode for giving us some background and character insight for her.

The opening scene with Captain Janeway trying to teach Seven to sculpt in her Da Vinci holodeck program was pretty cute actually, until Seven has a vision of being chased by Borg and a raven.

Seven keeps having this same vision over and over, and the Doctor can't figure out why, so he shrugs and says he'll look into it. But he tells Seven that she's human enough to eat food again, and sends her to the mess hall to find Neelix.

Meanwhile, the Captain is negotiating with some aliens, the Bomar, for passge through their territory, which would take 3 months to go around. But they're pretty uptight and insist on Voyager taking a winding route to avoid all of their populated areas, which would take weeks or months, so idk why they even bother trying to go through Bomar space at that point, since it's gonna be more of a hassle, and take about the same amount of time. (Because plot, I guess!)

(Side note: I kind of hate the Bomar costumes. While the weird wire headgear was a cool idea, the primary colors made it look way too cartoony. I usually hate how grey and beige everything on Trek tends to be, but using primary colors is actually worse. The Starfleet crew already have the primary colors in their uniforms, so if you start having aliens in primary colored uniforms too, it starts to look like a children's show- we don't need to be reminded of the Wiggles of the Teletubbies when we're supposed to be having serious space drama. For such dour, paranoid aliens, the whimsical, silly colored patterns on their outfits didn't make sense, character-wise. The one time I think sticking to grey or beige would have helped, they didn't. Sigh.)

Meanwhile, back in the mess hall, Neelix whips up a plate of something for Seven, (while Seven tells him how the Borg assimilated some Talaxians, who made good drones, which incredibly creepy fact Neelix takes remarkably calmly) and then there's a rather adorable scene of Neelix teaching a skeptical Seven how to eat food, just like a parent teaching a toddler. But then Seven has another vision, and a Borg implant erupts on her hand, and she appears to be reverting to Borg again as she says 'you will be assimilated' and knocks Neelix down as she marches out of the mess hall.

We then have a sequence of Seven prowling through the ship with her Borg body shielding reactivated, so no one can stop her as she takes off with a shuttle to who knows where. There's a lot of odd camera angles that show her walking from every vantage point possible, and considering her insanely tight costume, it just has a kind of gross objectifying feeling- the shape of her body is on full display at every moment, it's all you can see, and it's like, why?? This moment is not about how hot she is- it's supposed to be tense because the audience and the characters don't know what's going on with her, and if she's going to become Borg again after all the progress she's made to be human. Seeing her strutting around in a high heels, a corset, and a catsuit that's so tight it has a divide between her butt cheeks is just like, really uncomfortably missing the point of her character, and actively sabotaging the storytelling. Corsets, high heels and tight clothes force you to move in a certain way, and it's not natural, and it's not something that someone who's never existed in a context where any kind of sexuality, much less the male gaze, existed, would choose to present themselves as. It's purely gratuitous sexualization for the male producers and directors, and jerky men in the audience, to leer over, and it takes me out of the story. All I can think about when I see it is how uncomfortable that must have been for her to wear, and how demeaning it must have been for Jeri Ryan to know that she was there to be hot, and that every inch of her body was being displayed and scrutinized all the damn time. She's an actor, not a stripper for crying out loud. Let her wear regular clothes!!!

But anyway, after she takes off in the shuttle, the Bomar finally leave, declaring that they'll track her down and destroy her shuttle for invading their space, so Voyager have to find her before they do. Tuvok and Tom take a shuttle so they can slip past the Bomar sensors to go find her. When they do, Tuvok beams over to Seven's shuttle to try to talk her down. She's convinced the Borg are calling her home, but Voyager hasn't detected any Borg ships, and Tuvok thinks something else is going on, especially when Seven very un-borgily says she will not assimilate him, and wants him to go back to tell Captain Janeway thank you for trying to help her. Seven has followed a Borg signal to a moon, where she and Tuvok beam down to find the source- a wrecked, partially assimilated Federation ship. Seven has flashbacks when she gets there- she recognizes it as her parents ship, where she was assimilated by the Borg as a child. Tuvok is a wonderfully calm, reassuring presence as Seven reverts to her childhood self while she relives her childhood trauma, and shows a more vulnerable human side than we've ever seen from her. He helps her refocus on the present, as the Bomar attack the ship, and it begins to collapse. They escape, Tom beams them up to the shuttle, and they go back to Voyager.

Back on the ship, Janeway finds Seven running her Da Vinci studio program on the holodeck, and contemplating what Janeway was telling her about the human need for imagination and creativity earlier. She's been imagining what her life might have been like if she hadn't been assimilated, if she had known her parents and been raised by them, which she'd never even thought of before, and which clearly raises disturbing questions she never considered before. Janeway encourages her to read about her parents in the Federation database, which Seven says she might do, in time. Janeway seems to consider this a positive step for Seven. Despite the trauma that Seven has unlocked with this experience, at least she can now begin to process it, and perhaps move closer to her humanity.

Overall, I appreciated the glimpse into Seven's past, and her human side, despite the extremely sad and traumatic subject matter, and the terrible costume choices distracting from and undercutting the story at every turn. Seven and Tuvok's interactions, particularly, were very well done, and I loved Tuvok's calm and nurturing prescence as an anchor to Seven in her confused state. Honestly I think Seven should have started some guided meditations with Tuvok, since she clearly has a lot of repressed trauma that this episode only revealed the tip of the iceberg on. Resident Evil 5 hates women

Replayed Resident Evil 5 and decided to look up the discourse from the era. The blatant racist imagery is obvious, and frankly I don't think the games press was in a great spot to discuss it adequately on release. Frankly, as a white person I'm also not the most appropriate person to do so either, so I'm not going to get in into that.

But for all the racist shit in the game, I was not prepared for just how overt the sexism would be. Sure, it's from 2009, and things have changed a lot since then, but... yeah, there's a lot.

Character Designs

Obviously, the RE games are no strangers to giving their lady characters scantily clad outfits, and even sexualizes a character who is arguably a minor in RE4, but RE5 really takes it to an extreme.

Literally every female character in the game has some kind of skimpy skintight outfit or dress, solely to accentuate their bodies, regardless of any possible practicality for a combat situation.

This is contrast with the male characters. While they’re also basically models as far as their body shapes go, they at least get to have much more practical fatigues and body armour.

But there’s also aspects of sexism that are coded into the gameplay. For starters, Sheva is relegated to a “2nd player” role. You can’t even play as her by default if you’re not in co-op. Instead she’s an unlockable character.

Presumably, Capcom either thought nobody would want to play as a woman by default, or maybe worse, because they thought that they could dangle a woman as a reward for completing the game.

But that's not the only unlockable! There's also the costumes. Sheva’s standard one isn’t modest, but the costumes all find a way to put her into even more skimpy clothes, including shiny gold “club” attire, a business suit with a skirt so short it wouldn’t make sense outside of a porn scene, and the infamous “tribal bikini”.

All of these costumes are things you have to spend your points to unlock, so not only is your reward for finishing the game getting to play as a woman, but dressing her up in increasingly pervy ways. Hooray!

Narrative Stuff

But the character designs aren't enough. Capcom also felt it fitting to cement its misogyny in the narrative. Pretty much every significant action in the story is driven by a man.

Sheva, despite being one of the featured protagonists, is basically just along for the ride, despite being the “local guide” for the area who should know much more than Chris. Yet Sheva never uses her skills and knowledge to move things along. She’s just there to help Chris do co-op stuff, like getting vaulted up to higher areas by him because she weighs less. Girl power!

In fact, the tertiary character Josh, Sheva’s mentor, arguably helps more to move the plot along than Sheva does, since he helps drive the boat and tells them where to go on a couple of occasions. This would have been ideal for Sheva, but I guess the game couldn't let her do anything important.

Jill returns in this game, but spends most of the game mind-controlled by Wesker using some kind of magic device implanted in her chest, I guess because her cleavage is the one part of her latex catsuit that has exposed skin? The fight against her has Chris and Sheva trying to tear this off her chest in an *extremely* awkward QTE.

After getting her butt kicked, instead of zipping up her top or bandaging herself up, she just leaves it open, chest wounds oozing. For the rest of the game she basically has no role except to deliver some deus ex machina plot advice over the radio, even though it'd make a lot more sense for her to help out as an active participant.

Excella Gionne, meanwhile, is the female villain, whose two character traits are worn on her chest. She’s vain, manipulative, and ultimately expendable when Wesker turns her into a monster to attack the protagonists near the end of the game.

Throughout the story, she basically does nothing except to occasionally taunt the player and unintentionally provide info to help them. Despite being the head of Tricell, a biotech company, we never get to see her business or scientific abilities on display, just her lust for power and attempts to seduce Wesker. Her ultimate role is instead to be betrayed by Wesker, cementing him as the true baddie at the end.

Get That Dilc

And yeah, I’m going to the DLC as well. The first is pretty good and actually has Jill in a fairly equal role to Chris, with a significantly less sexualized outfit, so that's cool. I wish I could play as her by default, but hey, progress!

But the second DLC has you playing as Jill during the campaign, back in her catsuit, chest still seeping. The dialog in this is gross. both Josh and new character Doug spend almost all their lines hitting on her, and instead of telling them to fuck off, she inexplicably entertains their advances. It's ludicrously tone deaf.

This part feels extremely triggering for me, and I'm sure for others. The frequency at which women are forced to accept unwanted compliments from men, and show some sign of reciprocation for fear of retaliation, is a disappointing aspect of lived experience for many women. That someone at Capcom thought this was "charming" or appropriate for the situation shows just how incredibly, deeply backwards their views were at the time.

Anyway

When I went searching online for discussion about the constant casual sexism and misogyny in RE5, I came up pretty much empty handed, save for a bunch of gamers on reddit and GameFAQs saying how hot they think Sheva's costumes are. So I guess mission accomplished?

Not only was games journalism of the time the game released not in a place to adequately talk about the racism, the sexism was also apparently barely touched on. Was it just normal back then? Were we blind to it? I'm a different person today than I was then, so maybe.

So yeah, old lady screaming about a nearly 15 year old game, what gives? Well, in all honesty, I have to give Capcom credit for how much they improved. The turnaround in portrayals of women for the RE2 and RE3 remakes really is appreciated, and shows a genuine effort to present them as real characters.

I don't know if Capcom is going to remake RE5. I have a hard time envisioning how the devs could sidestep the fundamentally racist imagery baked into the premise, or handle it with the grace it deserves. But if it does come to pass, I'll be very curious to see how its portrayal of women changes. They deserve better.
