Put half of the squad in summer outfits. Still wish to purchase the purple dress for Rebecca (don’t know why I haven’t yet), as well as Josefina and Samantha’s ensembles.
I was gifted Kirsten’s dress shortly after the hat was discontinued from it, and have not been able to find it listed separately.
The shoes that came with Kit’s summer dress are exactly the same as the ones with the birthday dress, so now I have two pairs.
Maryellen lives just a few blocks from the beach, and loves spending time there. Her favorite beach activities are swimming in the ocean, hunting for shells, and throwing frisbees.
Hailey is dressed up as a witch! (Hailey gets a photo alone bc she’s been wearing this outfit since August)
The World by Us girls decided to go as different decades! Maritza as an 80’s exercise enthusiast, Evette as a 70’s hippie, and Makena as a Roaring 20’s dancer.
Amara is a pirate, while Jess is going as Elizabeth Schuyler. (I’ve always thought that Jess looks like Phillipa Soo from the original cast when her hair is down). And Charlotte is wearing the Grecian Goddess outfit.
Courtney is of course Crystal Starshooter, Maryellen is a cowboy, and Julie decided to reuse her pioneer dress to be Laura Ingles.
Finally Angie is a flapper, Luci is an astronaut, and Lindsey is ready for a 1950s Sock Hop!
there’s several storylines amongst the historical characters that disappoint me but maryellen’s storyline around polio drives me up the WALL. i think it’s understandable from a brand standpoint to have given her a relatively invisible disability from it, but the way her inner voice around it is presented is SO BAD. like it reeks so much of inspiration porn and internalized ableism. and it really sucks because polio was a mass-disabling event that american girl really could’ve done some major disability awareness about, but they didn’t do that (my theory is because it would knock the mythos held around how wonderful the 1950s were). the stuff about vaccination is also done pretty well, which honestly then makes everything around maryellen’s personal disability even worse.
Youngest kiddo just turned 9 and since she had got a camera for her birthday she set up Kit, Maryellen, and Nellie for a photoshoot. I took a couple on my camera while she was setting hers up!
