Tw: Makoto without mask 🎭⚠️
I did this when I was stressed out adjusting the drawing for this post. Seriously, I was so stressed out that I was going to do something wrong.
Also, this is about the responses I received in this post that address a topic from the mystery labyrinth of chapter 5, If you choose to destroy, Makoto seems to accept his death, the answers and observations worry me. I hope he's okay now after all, right? To be honest, I was going to draw this scene, but I was too lazy and hateful to do so, so this is the result, sorry.
#master detective archives: rain code#mdarc#mdarc spoilers#raincode spoilers#spoiler alert#rain code#makoto kagutsuchi#edit#he accepted death very easily#This is worrying#don't you think?#I hope he went to therapy in the game#My classes start on again#but it's the night shift#I'll still be half online here during the day shift#I will still change days soon and get a job.#I don't know if I'm happy with this

going into my final week of classes and we always have one last week after the final paper (so the professors have time for grading) where typically the only work we have is one last discussion post.
usually, this post is pretty simple and light (to go easy on us after the final). my ethics class is like “summarize your conclusions from your final paper! :)” and my communications class is like “tell the class about your career goals! :)”
meanwhile, statistics…

#which is very easy - it’s just FUNNY#you thought we were done learning new material after the final? THINK AGAIN!!!!!!!!#READ THE PYTHON SCRIPT AND WEEP#no but stats was my favorite class this semester…#i still wanna take stats II but i haven’t decided for sure yet#it’s a lot of work but it’s very straightforward work#as opposed to my environmental and communications courses that involve a lot of opinion#which is fine but can be really tiring when the thing they want my opinion about is stupid or repetitive#like. FOUR courses made me take that one environmental footprint calculator quiz…#FOUR SEPARATE COURSES#and it’s like. i’m not saying it’s not important - but i GET IT!!!!!!!#at this point it’s just a waste of my time - teach me something i don’t already know!#i definitely should have taken a different online program but that’s beside the point#it’ll even out once i get my master’s#and i’m ultimately happy to have had the ‘broader’ education of environmental science (with a communication minor)#bc i think that’ll serve me better in management later in my career#even if it makes early career stuff more difficult

god i hate this course. but it's good for me to do something i hate if it gets me back in the groove of forcing myself to do academics.
#taking a course on teaching english grammar to foreign language speakers (may be able to help a number of students i know?)#but its mostly selfish because i really really hate grammar and learning how to teach and also fully-online classes#so this is a trial by fire to get my ass in gear#to prepare for the actual master's course i just got accepted into#bc i graduated 6 years ago and im rusty on being on this side of the classroom

It's incredibly embarrassing to be unemployed and talk with my parents. They're completely understanding of my situation and how much the job market sucks atm and they've been nothing but nice to me about it and support me financially through this rough patch and YET everytime I talk to them I feel like I should get run over by a car so that they don't have to bear the stain of having me as a daughter anymore.
#liveblogging my life#I'm tutoring and giving online classes but that doesn't even cover my half of the rent#also I'm studying again#like it's not like I'm doing nothing I'm working on my PhD and other papers#I'm getting a second master's degree#I'm earning some money tutoring#but still not having a full salary and being unable to pay for my life makes me feel so ashamed

in news from grad life, my supervisor asked me about phd plans today and upon hearing i want to take a few years to do various non-academic things before i start one, immediately produced an application form for a scholarship to study abroad in iceland for a year? like this was not remotely on the radar of what i was planning for next year but tbf i hadn't actually planned that much, and i was initially looking at a master's programme in iceland before i settled on the one i've actually ended up on, so... why not! could be living in iceland this time next year! sometimes niche, half-buried teenage dreams do come true!
#it is a scholarship to study the first year of the BA in icelandic as a second language#and i think after that year you can choose whether to reapply for the scholarship and keep going with the rest of the degree or not#i have other vague post-masters ideas such as enrolling in a 6ish month long creative writing course i've had an eye on for a while#but that is online and could theoretically be done alongside a uni course in icelandic#if anyone following me for whatever reason knows anything about being an international student in iceland i am eager for advice#spending my evening hyping myself up and going down study abroad research rabbit holes#15 y.o. magnus studying a beat-up second-hand icelandic grammar book on their school lunch breaks is thriving rn#oh i am also taking very *very* beginner's icelandic classes at uni alongside my master's this year but it's not certified/accredited#i don't even think the teacher is qualified i'm p sure they just enlisted the first icelandic man they found who happened to be in the city#rambles

The curse of having drawn for years and having a decent enough grasp on the basics is that it's hard to find advice on how to improve.
#its more just an issue of not knowing where to start. do you just find pictures online and trace them? draw the picture?#i always hear about doing studies or taking classes and like. id do studies but i cant find literally aby advice on how to do them or how#they work. studying anatomy makes sense but how do you do it in a productive way. master/art studies make no sense unless you want that#art style. pose studies make sense because then you know how the body can move. and i cant take classes because i do digital#and most classes in my area are both too expensive and for painting. id look up stuff online or on youtube but ots#*its mostly geared towards people who are just starting out which was definitely good for me a few years ago but now the “draw often :)”#and “learn shading” type of basic tips dont apply anymore because i have a grasp on how they work.#anyway ignore me and my art woes i just want to learn better anatomy lol

Fanfiction is great because you can see so clearly how people learn to write.
Some people, it's clear, learned almost entirely through absorbing the world around them. Grammar and punctuation will be all over the place, spellings are approximate, but the voice of the narration will come through so clearly. You can hear the dialect of the people around them as of they're telling the story. It's not a written story, it's a transcription of how they talk in their day to day life.
Some people learned through reading a gazillion books as a kid. Grammer and spelling will be rock solid, formatting occasionally based on the single tab of physical books rather than the double tab of online scrolling, but dialogue is often stilted and overly formal. You might notice a lack of contractions and very rigid rules they made for consistency that actually have a lot more flexibility than they think. They tend to have a fantastic grasp of sentence flow, though.
And other people formally learned how to write. This could be anywhere from taking school classes seriously because they enjoyed writing stories as a kid to literal certifications and jobs in the field. Grammer is flawless. Punctuation is triple checked. Foreign words are in italics. Characters have distinct voices. But their self indulgence is tempered by perfectionism. They know precisely what they want from a fic. Authors notes often feature mutterings about their happiness with the chapter. Kaomojis often appear! They seek a style to their writing, and it makes for some wonderfully clever plots! These are the ones most likely to get fun with formatting!
And some people.... Some people examined it all. They dissect dialogue, people watch, cross reference behaviours and compare characters to people irl. You can tell almost immediately who had formative experiences with Terry pratchett and/or ghibli, because it's these people. While others see writing as fun, expression, craft, they see it as art. Plain and simple. Sure, the grammar is occasionally sacrificed on the altar of creative freedom, and the occasional sentence might miss a full stop, but these people seem to self reflect on themselves as part of the art making process. On occasion, these people have the most masterful grasp of dialogue and invocation and hand sewn characterisations. Formatting is pretty standard because all the focus is on the actual words. These fics can be edited to the moon and back!
All of these can vary wildly in forethought and quality, and betas can often catch individual problems before they hit post, but just. Isn't it so cool? What's that one Oscar Wilde quote about every mask just being another fragment of yourself?
Did you recognise yourself?

Participating in a European music competition represents a major milestone in a musician's career. These competitions are renowned for their quality, range of categories, and prestigious judging juries. Whether from soloists performing classical music or groups performing contemporary music, European competitions offer much in terms of instruments and categories. Registration typically involves submission of an application form, a performance video or live audition, and supporting documents such as a resume or biography. Early registration is important, as most contests have limited openings and stringent deadlines.
Similarly, registering for European music competition registration allows musicians to play at the continent's most legendary performances and festivals. Concert registries can require audition tapes or referrals and include workshops or master classes as additional learning opportunities.

Participation in such events not only enhances your performance experience but also makes it easier to establish a professional network in Europe. Musicians are able to interact with peers, mentors, and industry professionals, which provides scope for collaboration that can be across geographical locations.
European music concert registration is not only procedure—it's your key to creative growth, recognition, and vibrant cultural exchange. Whether you seek to test your abilities or showcase your passion to fresh audiences, Europe's rich musical heritage awaits.
Start registering now and step onto the continental stage where history, creativity, and possibility meet.
