I think it's a shame that I can't find any No Man's Land fics about Lonnie if he stayed in Gotham. I think that there's a lot of potential there for stories in general about Gotham and its people. Imagine Lonnie going on supply scavenges for Leslie or befriending the Robinson Park orphans. Imagine the hate he feels when he realizes that Batman abandoned the city. What if he became an informer for Babs/The Chronicler as she's known during NML. Please send me ideas because I'll try to write it!

I really really prefer when Two face’s bond with Renee isn’t a romance thing but instead a weird but completely platonic deep recognition and respect for her. And when it kinda goes both ways a little. Like I think it just plays so much better and is to me much more interesting. To me, their nml dynamic just works so much better that way.

it was your anniversary with heeseung, today marked your one year of being together. You were extremely excited for heeseung to come over, you had set everything up at your apartment because he was a very private person with his love and affection. for some reason even after a whole year of being together the thought of him coming over to your house made you nervous. you spent all day since 7am cleaning up for this special day and you wanted to make sure everything was perfect, there were candles lit up, dinner was made, a movie paused and ready to be played after a romantic dinner. you had even brought snacks just in case either of you were still hungry after dinner, you needed tonight to be amazing. you heard your phone buzz and ran towards it hoping it was your boyfriend telling you he was finally off work and on his way, it was your boyfriend but it the text was kinda the opposite of what you were hoping for, ‘hey yn i’ll be there a bit late, i have a few important things to do at home’ read the text. you were a bit disappointed, not in your boyfriend because you completely understood. you just didn’t think you could take anymore waiting but you promised yourself you would do it for your boyfriend and you wouldn’t let this ruin your mood! You waited for about 15 minutes, then those 15 minutes turned into 30 all the way to an hour. You called him and he didn’t answer, did he forget? was he still busy? did he fall asleep? you texted him and your face lit up when he texted back. ‘i’m on the way.’ at this point dinner was already cold but you could always just heat it up. when the doorbell rang you immediately ran to the door and engulfed him in a big hug when he got there, he tensed up but hugged back.

“hi how was work? happy anniversary babe! i missed you!” you said as you kissed his cheek and helped him put his coat on the coat rack.

“work was fine, i’m hungry. where’s the food?” you dragged him towards the dining room and sat down at the table. “it’s cold.”

“oh right! sorry it got cold while i was wai— ”

“Let’s break up.” you froze and turned around to see if he was joking, his face was serious. he wasn’t looking at you, he was looking at the food in front of him. you giggled and began speaking.

“heeseung, you’re silly.” you said as you were about to grab his and your plate to go heat up the food before he stopped you with his hands grabbing your wrists making you put the plates back down. heeseung wasn’t laughing.

“i’m serious yn.” you looked at him again, he wasn’t lauging or smiling. he really was serious.

“heeseung if it’s about the food being cold then i’m sorry, i can go heat it up and it’ll all be good.”

“no! it’s not about the food goddamnit. yn i don’t fucking love you anymore.” at this point you couldn’t control the tears that were spilling out of your eyes, was he really breaking up with you on your one year anniversary?

“why heeseung? what have i done? did i do anything to upset you? what’s wrong? why can’t we just talk it out?”

“because we just can’t yn! i just have no more love for you. there’s nothing when i look at you, it’s all gone. every single last drop of love i’ve ever held for you is all gone. bye yn.” and with that he left you, without anything else said or done. he just got up and left without a single word or a single look at you while you were left sobbing on the floor of your apartment. you couldn’t contain the sadness you felt, it was all spilling out at this very moment. after everything you’ve done and he couldn’t even give you one reason he stopped loving you. you felt like your world had just been shattered, your heart sunk and you couldn’t take it anymore. all the memories you guys made together, gone and thrown away.

DC also tries to give us a timeline and it’s a little contradictory to Havendance’s and the in comic text. If NML were to start in mid November then DC saying that Batman entered in February would be at the 93 days mark. Also gotta love that DC completely messing up December’s information…

No Man’s Land Event Timeline

I am of the opinion that more people should write fic set in No Man’s Land, but considering it’s like, 80 issues long (not counting the lead up) I’ve made this timeline to make it easier for people who don’t have time to spend like a month reading comics. (And also as a reference for myself. So, ever wondered what went down in No Man’s Land? This is for you.

Part 1: The Quake

Before we actually get to No Man’s Land Proper, we need to get some facts down about why it happened in the first place. Which means we’re going to be touching on Batman: Cataclysm. (The Batman: Contagion event (where Gotham got hit by a plague known as the Clench) also happened prior to this and contributed to No Man’s Land being a thing, but this timeline is already long enough as it is so we won’t be going into detail about that.)

In late June/early July, at 7:03pm, a quake 7.6 on the Richter scale hit’s Gotham

While we don’t know the exact date, Batman chronicles #14 reveals that it’s before July fourth.

When the quake hits:

Bruce, Alfred, and Harold are all in the Batcave

Dick is in Bludhaven

Tim is on a plane flying back to Gotham

He’s just resolved to open up to his dad. That doesn’t actually happen.

Helena Bertinelli (a.k.a the Huntress) is in a subway car

Stephanie is at the mall

Catwoman is breaking into a building

Azrael is handing Bane off to the GCPD (Bane gets away)

After the quake dies down:

A number of prisoners escape Blackgate (including Cluemaster)

Lots of people die

Batman, Robin, and Nightwing all run rescue efforts. Huntress and Catwoman are also shown helping out

Alfred and Harold work to repair the manner and clear the batcave 

Batman runs around in a bat-monster truck (Not particularly plot relevant, but it looks cool)

Bruce works tirelessly both as Batman and Bruce Wayne to try and aid rescue efforts, pour in relief funds, and convince business owners to remain in Gotham

Part 2: The Abandonment of Gotham

Bruce goes to DC to speak to congress in hopes of securing federal aid for Gotham

Basics:

Post-apocalyptic world

Nobody has faces, either just mouthes, just eyes, or in EXTREMELY RARE CASES, both; varying skin colors, and unique outfits

Inhabitants are called Nomen

There's this dude called the Void Master (His actual name is Malroy) who has the power to control... well... the void, and is trying to conquer and destroy the world bc yes (He's super bad at his job though)(We love goofy villians here)

Everyone has powers, some aren't SUPERpowers, but everyone has something that vanilla (normal) humans can't do (They discover their powers as they grow up, usually on accident, sometimes people can afford the money for private academy's where they have ways to MAKE you discover your powers, and then help you master it)

G.R.A.P.E.S Method

Geography:

Pangea-shaped land- Inhabitants named it "No Man's Land"

Sector-like areas of climate and terrain, each features a different 'biome' (type of environment)

Each city's (basically how the Divergent factions work) inhabitants tend to lean towards certain traits based off their environment

Religion:

The Gods/Goddesses are called "The Lords" or "The Deities" (Ex. "Lords above!" or "Great Deities!")

Day of The Dead memorial things for the gods, only one flower (a 'cecelia' for irony), an intricate amulet instead of a picture, and a small table- Discovering their powers

The Deity believers clash with the Atheists, causing arguments, but most of the time, they're too smart to get into huge fights; however, it does still happen

Achievements:

Modern art, and slightly damaged (splotches from water, burn marks, rips and tears, etc.) pieces of art we have in real life

Some people have written books, but arts aren't a common past-time in No Man's Land

Museums and small exhibits

Politics:

Republican- Monarch System

Laws are created using the same system we have today (2025)

Laws are enforced by "Officers", who are basically cops but cooler- Every time a ruler dies, his vice takes over. The vices are elected by the king (the citizens can vote to overrule the king's choice)

Ruled by a King (Rulers can only be male (Ik it's sexist I'm a women; it just fits the plot, trust.)

Economics:

Gemstones and ores, pearls being considered priceless

People trade for items, or give things for free, cash is rare and mainly for the wealthy

Some are more wealthy than others, a group that calls themselves "Aztechs" prides themselves on their gemstone robotics. Others, such as the "Inos" are very poverted

Social Structure:

The ruler, the advisors, and the governors are the highest ranked, followed by the wealthy, then the middle class, then the poor

The ruler lives in a large palace (similar to the Wizard of Oz's tower)

Advisors live in extravagant homes near the palace; the wealthy tend to live in large houses in the central parts of cities

Middle class inhabitants usually live in decent sized homes anywhere in a city

The poor tend to live around the outer rims of cities, along with walls that keep other cities out and guard outposts
