I saw a post talking about Miguel’s sexuality and that he was aro ace or something like that, and the user was telling writers to stop writing Miguel sexually. I’m not sure if they were joking or being serious, but either way I had something to say. And I mean this with respect, no hate to that person at all. They did nothing wrong.

Character’s sexualities are constantly being played around with by writers, fans, and artists. I am a male reader writer, so I write a lot of characters being partly homosexual. I know these characters aren’t canonically homosexual, but if I write for the character, I have to make them that way to fit what I’m going for.

Fan fiction is purely fake, it has no effect on the actual character, it’s simply used for the enjoyment of fans who want to be with a character. And some people can’t because a character is heterosexual, so we alter the sexuality for the character to be more accessible.

We also make characters AFAB/AMAB for our own enjoyment. In smut fics, sometimes, a writer will alter a characters anatomy just to spice things up.

So writing Miguel (or any other character) in a sexual way despite that their sexuality isn’t that way, doesn’t matter. Because we do it all the time. He’s not real. If he was real, then I’d get it. Say an actor, say Oscar Isaac to be specific, said “Please, don’t sexualize me, I’m ace.” Then I’d understand. But since he’s a fictional character, and fans constantly play around with characters sexuality and anatomy, it’s just not that big of a deal.

Now, if a character was a minor, I’d completely agree as well. Writing smut for a minor is disgusting in my opinion. But once again, Miguel O’Hara isn’t typically written as a minor.

Once again, this is just meant to be educational, and to inform people that writing for a of age character in a sexual light isn’t bad even if they’re a different sexuality. Fan fiction is meant to be fake and to alter characters to reach a certain expectation.

(Also, that user got a lot of hate in the comments for being informative, and I think that was very wrong. The user didn’t deserve that for that simple post, and I’m not trying to hate on them, I’m simply trying to show people that it’s not as bad as you might think. The user is welcome to not read those smut fics and to not write them, that is okay. So do not hate on someone just because they think of something differently about a character.)

What do you think about the upcoming canon designs of the characters in the illustrated novel DCTL? Will you only draw according to the canon? So. What did I THOUGHT about the upcoming canon designs of the characters in the illustrated novel DCTL ? That they were going to be bland and disappointing. That the graphic novel was going to visually portray the characters in such inaccurate ways that it was going to be very uncomfortable to watch.

What do I think now : that even though I didn’t expected much, I was still INCREDIBLY disappointed and upset. Once again, I’m waiting to see Sammy and Tom to express myself on these ‘representations’, but oh boy. It's off to a very, VERY bad start.

Will I only draw according to the canon ? : lmao NEVER. Firstly, because these designs aren't canon (as M*ke Mood announced a few days ago on Twitter) and because, out of respect and love for the characters, I'm not going to rely on the designs of artists who obviously haven't read the book carefully and had probably never heard of Batim before being hired to illustrate DCTL.

About the fact that a lot of people were afraid that the designs will be bad, turns out they were right to be worried ! Given what was done to Norman, I really fear the worst for Tom and Sammy. Not to mention the movie to come..

And finally, I'm delighted that you like my designs <3 of course, there's no way I'm going to stop drawing my comfort characters just because some stubborn, arrogant devs decided that the characters they'd created deserved neither respect nor depth. If a medium lacks representation, it's up to the artists to pick up the slack !

the Lamba Squad hate is UNJUSTIFIED and quite frankly fills me with a rage I am unable to express very eloquently.

Emma needs opposition to her ideals for the story to continue and I have seen many essays from people smarter than me on how this could’ve been accomplished despite the rushed ending, but I still love this story and wouldn’t change anything that we got.

Some people dislike that Barbra and Cislo specifically were almost “dumbed down” to make Norman feel smarter but I don’t think that’s the case at all

in fact i love how childish and immature they are because it shows the difference in how Norman and the others handled trauma.

Norman saw his inner child as weak, not able to do what needed to be done, and an obstacle to overcome to become Minerva, the person he needed to become to change the world.

however Barbra and Cislo are unapologetically child-like compared to other characters and they are entirely justified in BEING CHILDREN.

It’s almost like they are so childishly happy and silly and bashful in spite of everything that’s been done to them because they still see being a child that survived as something to be proud of. Norman wants to seem like an adult because all his life adults have had power over him (see isabella, peter, ect.) even Minerva who had the power to help them was an adult. No matter how you look at it Norman saw being the child he was as a bad thing which is exactly why I love that Emma and Ray use that acceptance to get through to him.

i love that the theme is it’s okay to be a kid which is why Barbra and Cislo are almost static characters but they still fulfill their role so well in the story.

I just saw an interview by one of my favorite self-hating Jew, Norman Finkelstein, in which he defended the Houthi's slogan which states "a curse upon the Jews" because Israel considers itself a Jewish state.

Now I'm going to lay out how terrible this argument is.

1. It justifies all antisemitism. Any targeted attack against Jews or Jewish institutions can be justified without even claiming they're Zionists.

2. Because no one cares about Jews, I'm going to have to make this argument. According to Finkelstein it's okay to say "a curse upon Muslims" because of the Islamic regime, so therefore islamophobia is ok.

RANT ABOUT NORMAN FROM NWH

This thing has been plaguing my mind since the movie came out is how much I hate how they portrayed Norman in NWH. This is just my 2 cents and not well thought out so sorry for any mistakes.

I think this has been talked about but I need this out of mind.

I hate hate hate how in the film they said "Yeahhhh norman not badd he goodd he cares for his sonnnn and actually he was just hypnotized by the goblin serum"

THAT'S A SHITTY EXPLANATION AND A LIE

I am sorry but Norman was always a bad person and bad father. He was awful before he had the serum. The serum just allowed him to do the things he wanted from the start. He only gives a fuck about Harry because Harry would be heir to his company and he cares but in a selfish way. But his an awful, he was awful since the start. Excusing his actions because he was controlled by the Goblin is stupid. It's like the writers didn't even knew who Norman was and with that!

There's one line that's been fucking up my brain
