Its well known now that Book 7 will heavily imply familial messages and from what we seen with Shroud Family so far, is that they were very communicative and supportive of each other in the loving way possible.

I assumed they were strict and cold parents before but I'm glad its wrong, cuz this is such a nice twist 💕 their dynamic reminds me of disney Hera and Zeus affection on Hercules--- I wonder if theyre showcasing this as parallel of Diasomnia's??? So far in canon, most of them rarely talk about much they actually mean w each other or even being wholesome like the Shrouds were lol But still... its undeniable theyre family as wellll 🙏

Okay so I recently replayed Lesson 1 and omg he's such an info dumper. Like I love Levi, he's my sweet precious baby, but wow the boy can talk. Honestly I'd probably enjoy just listening to him ramble about TSL. Like yesss tell me all the facts, I wanna know everything lol.

I honestly love the implications of TSL. Like you said, Levi seems to be completely oblivious in the beginning that the lords are based on him and his brothers. And it's really dang obvious????

TSL is interesting to me because on the one hand they use it as a way to sort of parallel a lot things for Levi - he's the one who's always wanting to cosplay as the lords and didn't we get sent into the TSL world for something involving him? Shoot now I can't remember what it was. I'm having a memory of something to do with a golden pig, too. Anyway, the point is Levi is so into this world he almost doesn't realize it's about him.

But TSL is also Simeon's creation. So it's like yeah, it means one thing for Levi, but it means something else entirely for Simeon. In his case, it feels like a commentary on how he feels like such an outsider. There is no character to represent Simeon in that world. But there is one for MC. So it's like Simeon was imagining the brothers would end up with their own Henry before even knowing who that might be. Someone who could be everything to them. A world and a family that exists without him. My poor heart!!

Anyway, I agree, Simeon's observation skills are slightly terrifying lol.

YESSS OMG!!! The 05 and 010 parallels...it's so interesting how Shidou and Kotoko are on two opposite sides of the spectrum:

Shidou is a grieving parent who lost his children, and he thinks he deserves a guilty verdict after everything he's done. He's thinks he can choose who lives and who dies, he's patronizing to kids like Es and Amane because he's a doctor and a parent, he hates himself, he just wants to go back.

Kotoko is still stuck in a child-like mindset of the world, and whatever happened to her when she was 12, she has not moved on from it. She thinks her version of justice can help save the world, she's like a child grieving for her own lost childhood, she wants to treat kids like Es and Amane harshly because if she had to go through it, why don't they? She hates herself, she just wants to go back.

Basically, at the end of Stormbreaker, Yassen and alex are described as being on 'two opposite sides of the glass' or smth. Then they raise their hands in a gesture alex is unsure about, and Yassen raises it as a farewell.

Then they are said to on opposite side of the glass, trapped in different ways.

Like omg the symbolism in that sentence.

They are both stuck in lives they both don't want

But alex is stuck on Mi6, and is on the 'good' side

Whereas yassen is stuck with Scorpia on the bad side

Alex manages to keep his morals when faced with everything, Yassen did too, but eventually he broke, and became Cossack.

I think yassen is a representation of what alex could become, if he lost everyone and his morals.

Yesss, The lover 1992! It’s beautiful and sad. It’s one of my favorites now. I searched up the birth charts of the actors, and they are similar to ours. - i love the introduction of joel's interrogation tactic ("your answers better match up") being used in a relatively low stakes, chill situation. i hope this scene was a little taste of what's to come, rather than a replacement for the scene we'll see later. (also I loved that couple's dynamic!! so much was shown in so few lines of dialogue)

- ellie with the whiskey omg riley reference??

- holy shit the tension of that scene with the dog was impeccable. my heart seriously skipped a beat when the dog barked

- the reunion with tommy was even more emotional than in game, and i love that they're already living in the established jackson area! it means there are so many little references for players to notice

- "just because life stopped for you doesn't mean it has to stop for me" 😭

- when joel thought he saw sarah :((( and the fact that it happened immediately after talked about sarah and had a little panic attack from the grief. everything that's happening with ellie is bringing up so many emotions and they're all portraying it SO PERFECTLY

- i loved the scene between maria and ellie. in the game, we know maria is the one who tells her about sarah, but we never see it happen. i looooved being able to see ellie's reaction to that.

- tommy and maria expecting a baby fits thematically and i'm very curious to see how that plays into part two / season 2. no spoilers for anyone who hasn't played it but i'm excited to see if there's some crossover between their baby and a future character

- the giraffe poster watching joel while he says he's not her dad. liar liar pants on fire! also i think it was a smart decision to not have ellie run away (it works in the game but would only be a waste of time in the show) and instead to have her say that she overheard the conversation earlier. great adaptation of existing material

- but i do think the scene where ellie and joel decide to go together felt a little rushed as a result of the aforementioned change. on one hand i like how quick it is, because they've both done all the thinking they need to do on their own, so it's only matter of saying "yes". but at the same time it felt a little blink-and-you-miss-it. it's also a very quick decision in the game, but it comes after an arduous bout of gameplay, so it doesn't feel so rushed. i'll have to chew on this one some more!

- i'm so glad they didn't make the jackson folks be the cannibals like some people were theorizing

- "you gonna shoot this thing or get it pregnant?" made me laugh so loud omg

- i'm a little disappointed we didn't get any environmental storytelling about the students at the college. the whole section being crammed into the last 20 minutes was... an interesting choice. i know most of that part of the game is just exploration & gameplay, but i feel the show had a unique chance to explore what the students went through after the outbreak that was only hinted at in notes. it had a lot to say about humanity and community and it could've been a neat parallel to jackson

- yesss that was a much more realistic injury that's still life threatening but actually possible to recover from, rather than rusty rebar fully going through his abdomen lmao

- and he got stabbed in frank's shirt 😭 and the depeche mode song plays 😭 fuck 😭

YESSS 17 HOURS MY BELOVED!! thank you thank you I also think it's an underrated one. roxy did such an incredible job with their half of things and I had so much fun writing my half.

the format was really cool to work out, and I remember when roxy and I first started a shared google doc for it and we decided to parallel the POVs in certain ways and it just started flowing so easily. roxy is just a fantastic writer and we had so much fun working on that fic together. the idea was literally pulled from me talking in a discord server about my dad calling me to remind me of our 'get the fuck out of dodge' plan in case things went to shit (this was when the ukranian war had just begun so my dad was paranoid about nukes), and I was joking about how the plan basically involves a post apocalyptic road trip. roxy brought up how that could be an interesting fic premise and suggested a collab, and things just sparked from there

ok crimeboys fought the entire time but they also had a lot of brotherly moments too so it wasn't all sad :( but ayyy sandduo. and then you get the sheer perfection of roxy's aeduo half. those two were having the worst time ever everything went wrong for them

I love Naley too! Even though OTH was 2 decades (!) ago I’m still obsessed. Idk about you, but my insane brain sees parallels with Buddie, specifically Nathan/Buck and Haley/Eddie coded. They had an enemies-to-lovers beginning (you know what I mean!), opposites attract, H/E support N/B in their issues with their parents, N/B we’re there when H/E had a breakdown (thinking of Haley jumping into the pool after her mother died), N/B were in whole-ass comas…I’m sure there’s more.
