Hi! Just wanted to let you know I love your Not So Berry (as you must’ve seen hehe) and you storytelling style! You in fact inspired me to play my own Not So Berry ✨ and even though I forget to take screenshots most of the time (-.-) I would love to post some of it on my simblr. I was looking for a fast way to edit but even more so add text like you do, with corresponding colors with each characters, do you have recommandations? First of all: THANK YOU SO MUCH ;A; dahsd I feel honoured you say that, I'm so glad you like the gameplay and I can't wait to see what you come up with in yours!! This seriously made me feel rainbows in my stomach :'D

Second: I'm so sorry for taking my sweet time answering this, but I honestly don't know what to tell you xD I do the bare minimum while adding text, so I apologize in advance because this is going to be pretty bland.

BUT.

What I can say is that I tend to color-code my characters without thinking, so that helps me a lot to assign their text color. I keep tweaking the tones depending on how legible the captions are, but trying to choose vibrant tones makes it easier to read because of contrast! And once you have the tone, you can save the color into your palette library in photoshop so you can save time the next time you're editing.

Also, I don't use a special font or anything, but I found these two X X PSD templates that are ready to slap some captions in them (you'll probably have to download a couple of fonts depending on what you want to use), so they might be practical and useful to you!

Also, if you don't use photoshop, I strongly suggest Pixlr or Canva to add the text you want! I personally used Pixlr in my beginnings. It was fun :D

Lastly, I tend to use a "small" font size because I don't usually like BIG captions, but looking at my first story posts where the font is even smaller I'm like:

So have in mind that most readers will be using the app to read and that will make the images even smaller than you're seeing them on desktop, so don't be afraid to size up the text! Don't make the same mistake as I did, hehe.

whats the back and forth au?

The back and forth au [Hisui ver] is an au where Akari is helped on her journey by Dawn from the platinum games! Dawn exists as a ghost [though she isn’t Technically dead, just kinda… astral projecting across time and space against her will] and can possess Akari. They have different personalities too! Akari is a lot less interested in pokemon battles and prefers to put more trust in her own abilities. Dawn is the one to teach her how to train and trust her pokemon. Akari likes fighting the nobles on her own, dodging and rolling and throwing balms with her own hands instead of weakening them with her team, but outside of that, Dawn has convinced her to use her team.

When Dawn possesses Akari, neither of them are able to feel pain. It’s a strange feeling, but it ends up being really important at one point when Akari gets badly hurt and Dawn walks them back to the base to get help. This is not a good thing to do for Making The Injury Worse reasons but she doesnt want Akari bleeding out so.

ON THE OPPOSITE SIDEEEE which is the back and forth au [sinnoh ver] Dawn wakes up one day to a ghost standing over her bed. It’s the first day of her journey outside, and it’s Weird. Akari is really good at fighting, and always happily teaches her the best way to win this fight, but when she possesses her, Akari always seems to prefer going in the other direction. Their postures are different enough that Dawn has noticed it - Dawn was always taught to keep her back straight in case it turns like her dad’s who had to get surgery on his spine. Akari always hunches, as though she’s trying to be smaller, or is about to pounce. Dawn becomes a master trainer, but she can’t bring herself to go to the top of Mt. Coronet. She knows she has to, but - Akari promises she’ll deal with it. They’ll save the world.

Other facts:

Its always the ghost doing the final fight

Its called the back and forth au because the akari that had dawn as a ghost becomes dawns ghost and vice versa. the whole thing is how it is because it’s happened before
