How to Burn Your Own CDs - a guide for Windows users
Are you--yes, you!--tired of paying money to stupid shit like spotify for your music? Do you hate the way that the music industry takes almost all the profit that bands make through streaming and leaves them with pennies? Have you ever wanted to fire up that old CD-Radio in the corner of your bedroom, only to be stopped because all you have on CD is Weezer's blue album and a copy of Kidz Bop 16 that you don't remember buying? Well this guide just might be for you!
Materials you'll need:
A computer. Can't do it without this one.
A CD drive. It can be internal or external, but you'll need one either way. You can find them at Office Depot for fairly cheap and I've heard that some Walmarts carry them.
A pack of CD-Rs. CD-Rs, or CD Recordables, come in packs of 20, 50, or 100. A proper 100-pack should cost you no more than $30, so unless there's some special shortage in your area, don't buy from anywhere selling them at a markup. CD blanks are literally 50c a piece.
CD cases. Sold wherever CD-Rs are, but you can also find these at thrift stores pretty easily.
A sharpie or some kind of permanent marker
Software you'll need:
Jdownloader. You can acquire mp3s through Bandcamp if you're dedicated to righteousness, but for everyone else, install jdownloader or some other kind of open-source download program. I will be proceeding as if you have jdownloader available.
Windows media player. This should open automatically when you insert a CD-R into your CD drive.
Fre:ac audio converter. This is only for the occasion that you encounter OPUS or mp4a files that cannot be interpreted by your CD player.
Note: If you're very determined not to download software onto your computer, you can use free youtube downloaders and audio converters, but these are subject to viruses and other issues such as download speed. I will be proceeding as if you have the programs I listed.
The process:
Decide what you want to burn--anything goes, but keep in mind the time limit on your CD-Rs. Most will record 90 minutes or less.
Open jdownloader, switch to the linkgrabber tab, then paste youtube links in any order until you have all the music you want. I'd personally recommend doing it song-by-song instead of a full album stream, because a massive file will require a lot of work to separate back into searchable tracks.
De-select all files except audio on the right-hand side options menu.
Make a folder inside the music folder of your laptop and label it with the name of your mix CD.
In the properties tab of each song on jdownloader, change the destination folder to the folder you've just created.
Hit "start all downloads".
Once finished, open each folder. If everything is an .mp3 or a .wav, skip the next 2 steps.
Open Fre:ac audio converter to convert all audio files that aren't .mp3 or .wav into .mp3 or .wav.
Drop the converted files next to the unconverted files in your folder. If you wish, you can delete the originals to make the folder easier to browse.
Put your blank CD-R into the CD drive. If external, plug in your CD drive first or the tray will refuse to open.
Windows media player will open automatically. On the right-hand side, you will see the tracklist of your CD-R (which should be blank). On the left, you will see the audio that your computer is able to find in the music folder. Put your selected tracks IN ORDER onto the tracklist.
Listen to the beginning and ending of each track to make sure there isn't a significant time gap. This also prevents accidentally burning a youtuber's stupid outro if you missed it before.
When satisfied, hit "start burn".
On an external drive, the CD tray will open upon completion. You can reinsert it to ensure that the burning went smoothly.
Once satisfied, remove the CD from your drive. With your sharpie or permanent marker, write the name of the album on the front, then store safely inside a CD case.
you did it👍
Ask me if you run into any issues.

hi!! do you have any advice on how to finish projects faster? or at least more efficiently? i take a few days to finish a piece (1 or 2 days at minimum) and i want to learn how to refine my process
that can depend a lot on what kind of look you’re trying to achieve, and what exactly is slowing you down!
things you can do if you take too long doing lineart:
Practice sketching in pen & marker! Do exercises that train your hand to be more efficient. If you can draw the same thing with 5 lines that previously took you 20, you’ll cut down on time.
Try a different brush! Maybe the one you’re using is too soft, and you have to keep going back over the lines to make them dark enough. There might be another brush that gets the same result with less effort.
Zoom out! On paper, a drawing that’s 2 inches tall will take wayyyy less time than a drawing that’s as big as your torso. When you zoom in, you’re essentially making the whole drawing bigger. When I draw, I like to be able to see the whole pose. If you’re worried about it not being perfectly clean, I promise you, no one is paying that close attention.
Skip the lineart entirely! Odds are, your sketches might already be pretty clean. If it takes you 20 minutes to do a sketch and 2 hours to do the lineart, but the lines look almost the same, then why bother doing the lineart?
similar advice for coloring/rendering!
Maybe it’s your art software! I can color 10x faster in CSP than anything else, because CSP makes it really easy to color in flats.
Limit how many types of brushes you use. There ARE certain effects (like convincing digital watercolor) that really do need 5-10 different brushes to get the look Just Right, but going through your tool menus to swap brushes will add time. When I render (which is rare, honestly) I stick to one, maybe two painterly brushes.
other general advice:
Don’t be so hard on yourself! Honestly, 1-2 days is still objectively pretty fast!
If you’re a perfectionist who will arbitrarily spend too much time fiddling and fiddling until it’s justttttt right, try setting timers! Give yourself a predetermined amount of time for the lineart, for the coloring, for the rendering, etc and MOVE ON once that timer goes off. Not everything you do has to be your magnum opus.
Use keyboard shortcuts!!!!!!!! I don’t like using screen tablets, especially if I can’t use shortcuts. If you have a tablet with programmable buttons or some kind of remote, that can work too. I see people use bluetooth xbox controllers sometimes, which is a good option if you already have that. Personally, I use so many shortcuts that there are never enough buttons to program, so I just stick with a keyboard.
JUST KEEP AT IT! The more you draw, the faster you get. I avoided doing paneled comics for nearly 10 years cause they took so much effort, and would only do comics where each panel was its own layer/image. After enough time doing that, I eventually got good enough at everything else to do with comics that the paneling aspect wasn’t that difficult anymore.

Chilean Marxist, Marta Harnecker's magnum opus has been uploaded to Marxists.org
https://www.marxists.org/archive/harnecker/1969/historical-materialism/whole-book.pdf
Introduction to Elementary Concepts of Historical Materialism
Authored by Marta Harnecker, 1969 Translated by the Theoretical Review periodical of the Tucson Marxist-Leninist Collective, 1978-81 Preserved by marxists.org Edited by anonymous using libre software, 2024 January 4, 2025
Her books The Elemental Concepts of Historical Materialism and Notebooks of Popular Education were widely used by communist parties and workers' organizations in Spanish-speaking countries for the training of their militants during the 1970s and later.
Her work is mentioned in By Night in Chile By Roberto Bolaño
As through a crack in the wall, By Night in Chile's single night-long rant provides a terrifying, clandestine view of the strange bedfellows of Church and State in Chile. This wild, eerily compact novel—Roberto Bolano's first work available in English—recounts the tale of a poor boy who wanted to be a poet, but ends up a half-hearted Jesuit priest and a conservative literary critic, a sort of lap dog to the rich and powerful cultural elite, in whose villas he encounters Pablo Neruda and Ernst Junger. Father Urrutia is offered a tour of Europe by agents of Opus Dei (to study "the disintegration of the churches," a journey into realms of the surreal); and ensnared by this plum, he is next assigned—after the destruction of Allende—the secret, never-to-be-disclosed job of teaching Pinochet, at night, all about Marxism, so the junta generals can know their enemy.
It is telling that even in the abstractions of Marxist theory, the 1st question the Junta Admiral asks is "Is she good-looking?". Revealing of the extremely objectifying views misogynist Junta officers had towards Marxist women, especially those with intellectual achievements. Which went beyond "locker room talk" to the official Junta policy on how they should be treated.

So, you paid for a subscription to an educational site—or, you know, a different type of site (no judgment, we all have our interests). Your subscription is ending, and you’re stressed about losing access to the beautiful collection of photos and videos that brought you joy, enlightenment, or something else entirely. Screenshotting and screen recording are your current go-tos, but let’s be honest, you deserve better than grainy pixels. Fear not! I’m here with a tutorial that will help you keep all those precious pixels forever.
Disclaimer: This is for Chrome on a desktop computer (other desktop browsers should work similarly). Mobile browsers are not your friends for this, sorry. Also, this only works for some sites, but it definitely works for certain spicy ones, if you catch my drift.
Photos:
- Open the webpage with the picture you want to save (your holy grail).
- Either press F12 or right-click on the picture and select Inspect. This will open the Developer Tools. I know, it looks scary, but I promise you, it’s not. We’re about to feel like hackers. 🕶️
- Go to the Sources tab.
- On the left, you’ll see a file tree. Explore it like you’re Indiana Jones. Somewhere in there, your photo is waiting for you in high resolution.
- Once you find it, click on the file, and a preview will pop up in the central panel. From there, it’s easy: Right-click → Save image as... Boom. Treasure secured.
Videos:
- Open the webpage with the video you need (your magnum opus).
- Open the Developer Tools again (F12 or right-click → Inspect). This time, go to the Network tab.
- Below that, select Media.

- Play the video. You’ll see a new line pop up in the Network tab like magic.

- Right-click on that new line and select Open in a new tab.
- In the new tab, the video will play. Just right-click and Save video as... You’re welcome.
And there you have it! A foolproof way to save your favorite pictures and videos in their full glory. Let me know if any of these steps weren’t clear, and I’ll help you out. Now go forth and download responsibly! 🫡

Opus
The artist is the opus. What you create is important, but it's also a side-effect. You are the ongoing work of art, a lifetime in the making.
The production of great art is not the process of taking something imperfect, and chipping and filing and smoothing away every rough edge until perfect remains.
The production of great art is knowing the difference between mediocre and better, and striving for the latter, continually.
Striving - the act of doing difficult things - is exercise for the mind. Every rep improves you. Your imagination is stretched and your skills are refined. We must perform in public though, and dare to be seen, so we can feed off the energy of their nods and smiles.
It was never about the creation of one perfect story, the one you publish to acclaim, allowing you to retire with the sound of congratulatory applause ringing in your ears. It was about laying the foundations for works that don't even exist yet.
It was about creating a better version of you, one that will be able to create art that moves others, which an earlier version of you could never have conceived, let alone produced.
When you write, you are literally rewriting the operating software of your own mind, testing new ideas, reinforcing the tenets you hold dear, nurturing your confidence by becoming an evangelist for what truly stokes the fires inside.
People will notice this mastery when they meet you, and you know what the funny thing is? They probably won't ever have read a word of what you've written.

Konata: (triumphant) "Rejoice, peasants! Elon Musk hath unbanned me from X formerly twitter! Time to tweet my magnum opus: ‘Why the Cybertruck is the perfect vehicle for galaxy-brained Chads’."
Kagami: (slamming her bento shut) "Unbanned? He probably mistook you for a Russian bot. And the Cybertruck’s a glorified paperweight. It can’t even fit a grocery bag in its ‘bed’—which, by the way, doubles as a cheese grater!"
Miyuki: (brightly) "Oh, the Cybertruck’s angular design is inspired by the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk. Though its stainless steel alloy does pose challenges for traditional manufacturing—"
Kagami: (cutting in) "It’s inspired by a middle schooler’s Minecraft build. And don’t get me started on Full Self-Driving. My uncle’s Tesla once tried to merge into a fire hydrant!"
Konata: "Kagamin, you’re just jealous because your family car has fewer CPUs than a Tamagotchi."
Tsukasa: (perking up) "Tamagotchi! I still have mine. His name is Piko and he’s a… um… what’s a ‘CPU’?"
Miyuki: "Central Processing Unit! It’s the brain of a computer. Tesla’s Autopilot uses a custom AI chip capable of 144 trillion operations per second."
Kagami: (ignoring Miyuki, steam rising) "And don’t even mention ‘Mars colonies.’ He’s been promising that since 2012. The only thing he’s colonized is Twitter with blue-check conspiracy theorists!"
Miyuki: (leaning in) "Actually, SpaceX’s Starship aims to reach Mars by the 2030s! Its Raptor engines use liquid methane, which could be synthesized on Mars itself. Though the psychological toll of interplanetary travel—"
Konata: (grinning) "Hey, X is a vibrant community. Where else can I watch crypto bros and Flat Earthers duke it out in real-time? It’s like Hunger Games, but with worse spelling."
Kagami: (throwing hands up) "MARS? He can’t even get a truck right! Remember when he said the Cybertruck’s windows were ‘unbreakable’? And then they shattered at the demo?"
Konata: (nostalgic sigh) "A modern Icarus tale. So beautiful."
Tsukasa: (gasping) "Broken glass? That’s dangerous! Maybe they should make the windows out of… jelly! Then if they break, it’s just dessert!"
Miyuki: (nodding) "Ballistic gelatin is used in testing! Though its melting point would be problematic in the Cybertruck’s proposed ‘bulletproof’ scenario—"
Kagami: (ignoring Miyuki, glaring at Konata) "And why does he keep renaming things? Twitter to X? Next he’ll rebrand Earth to ‘Planet Elon’!"
Konata: (snorting) "You’re just salty because your tweets about ‘homework stress’ get zero likes. Meanwhile, my hot take about the hottest anime moms trends every Tuesday"
Tsukasa: (raising hand) "Um… if Earth gets a new name, do we have to update our maps? I just bought a globe for geography class…"
Kagami: (cutting her off, exasperated) "Focus! Musk’s ‘genius’ is just failing upward! Neuralink? More like No-Idea-Link. Who wants a brain chip that crashes during a software update?!"
Konata: (grinning) "I’d install one! Imagine pirating anime directly into your cerebellum. Innovation, Kagamin."
Tsukasa: (horrified) "Brain chip?! What if it gets a virus? My computer got one last week and now it sings ‘Baby Shark’ at midnight!"
Miyuki: (thoughtful) "Neuralink’s N1 implant does have advanced encryption. Though cybersecurity in neural interfaces is a burgeoning field with—"
Kagami: (head thudding on the table) "…Why are we giving him ideas? Next he’ll sell ‘AI girlfriends’ that block you unless you buy a $8 subscription."
Konata: (snapping fingers) "Already exists! Meet ‘Airi-chan’—she ghosted me because I wouldn’t pay to see her ‘virtual feet.’ Capitalism, baby!"
Tsukasa: (teary-eyed) "Virtual… feet? That’s so sad! People should just get a puppy!"
Miyuki: (cheerful) "Studies show pet ownership reduces stress by 32%! Elon actually owns a Shiba Inu named ‘Floki,’ though it’s unclear if—"
Kagami: (suddenly standing) "I’m done. I’m going to live in the woods. With no Wi-Fi. Or stainless steel triangles."
Konata: (calling after her) "Don’t forget your Tesla Solar Roof tiles! They’ll catch fire and keep you warm~"

UFC: Sudden Impact is a mixed martial arts game released for the PlayStation 2 in 2004, developed by Opus and published by Global Star Software. It falls under the category of fighting games, but unlike your typical arcade brawler, it focuses on recreating the sport of mixed martial arts as seen in the UFC. The game features a roster of real-life UFC fighters, each with their own unique combat styles, such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Wrestling, and Kickboxing, allowing for a wide variety of fighting strategies.
One thing I like about Sudden Impact is its blend of striking, grappling, and submission techniques. It tries to mimic the dynamic nature of MMA by allowing players to mix things up during a fight—whether it's throwing punches and kicks or taking the fight to the ground for a submission attempt. It offers a variety of modes, including an arcade-style mode where you fight your way to the championship and a story mode that is probably the most interesting part of the game.
In story mode, you create your own fighter and train him, progressing through the ranks of the UFC, unlocking new moves, and customizing his fighting style as you go. I found this mode to be engaging because it adds some depth to the typical fight-after-fight formula, making you feel invested in your character's development.
In terms of presentation, the visuals are decent for a 2004 PS2 game, though not groundbreaking. The fighters look recognizable enough, and the animations are functional, though a bit stiff at times. What stands out more is the range of moves and how it captures the chaotic feel of an MMA match, with fighters able to transition between different phases of combat—striking, clinching, and grappling—pretty smoothly. However, the AI can sometimes feel a bit unbalanced; some matches feel too easy, while others ramp up the difficulty unexpectedly.
For fans of the sport, UFC: Sudden Impact offers an authentic experience, though it has its flaws. The controls can feel a bit clunky, especially when trying to execute more complex moves or submissions. Honestly, I would have preferred the rounds to last in real time, rather than the accelerated timer where one second feels like five. This creates a sense of urgency that isn’t necessary, as MMA is often about strategy and patience, not rushing. Still, it’s a solid attempt at bringing MMA to a gaming platform, especially considering the hardware limitations of the time.
To sum it up, if you want a UFC experience on the PS2 that balances action with some customization and depth, Sudden Impact delivers on that front. However, if you're after a more refined game with smoother gameplay and challenging AI, you might find it lacking in those areas.
PS: In this video, I’m working my way up to the gold in Tournament Mode as Andrei 'The Pitbull' Arlovski, one of my all-time favorites alongside Mark Coleman and Bas Rutten.

(REPOST CAUSE FORGOT THE ACTUAL PIC THAT GOES WITH THIS) Transcript of a Reposted Comment from r/AskReddit back in 2016 titled "[Serious] What is the scariest/weirdest/most mysterious thing you've ever witnessed on live television?"
"Repost, as this was commented on another similar post, This Screenshot, taken off a Redditor's CRT back in 2009 while witnessing the Live Broadcast, is one of the Few pieces of Material of the "A Message to Nick: From A.R.R." Segment that has been discovered from the Infamous "Ramsey's Resignation" Incident that occurred during The Ultimate SpongeBob Sponge-Bash Marathon event to Commemorate Spongebob's 10th Anniversary, according to the few Articles and sources that Nickelodeon hasn't Taken Down, A.R.R. (Arnold Raphael Ramsey), Enraged at the Toxic work environment and the increasingly Demanding Deadlines at Nickelodeon Studios, had begun to fuck with the Marathon as a way to get back at the company for his mistreatment, the earlier anomalies weren't too big in scale at first, from removing small details from Backgrounds and Characters during the episodes, to split-second text strings added on top the footage, though these interruptions would Increase in Intensity and become More and More Disturbing as time went on, until, on July 18th, 2009, the second day of the Broadcast, A.R.R. would release his "Magnum Opus" per se, a 2 minute and 50 second Completely original Animatic that he'd created over the span of 4 days before the Marathon using Stolen Art Supplies and Pirated Animation Software, consisting of an "Animated" portrayal of A.R.R. Ranting to both the Higher ups at nick, and Coworkers of his who Assumedly caused him Problems, as shown in this image, with Subtitles Displaying the message "YOU ALL ARE THE WORST FUCKING PEOPLE I'VE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE OF WORKING WITH", he would reportedly end off this message with a Formal Statement of Resignation, alongside the statement "so Nick? Consider this a Massive Fuck you"

Gadget 4
Season 4 Episode 2 Featured on: The SiIvaGunner Spooktacular Halloween Horror Special: Curse of the Fallen Angel
Ripped by Scribble1k
youtube
(Audio too big for post) Requested by an Anonymous reader! (Request Form)
It wasn't all too long ago that I covered Scribble1k's ripping on here with How 2 Do Anything, but it was in writing that post that I was reminded of something pretty significant. Out of the 25 excellent rips she contributed to the channel with from Season 2 to Season 4 Episode 2, I'm yet to cover perhaps what she's most known for, a series of rips with one release a year since their very debut. The Minecraft With Gadget Boss series - Go Go Gadget $400 Meme Making Software, That Gadget Arrangement from 2017 2, Gadget 3, and today's very topic - Gadget 4.
Now, this is far from the first time that Inspector Gadget has been brought up on this blog (and if you're new here, hi! I'm sorry LOL). I've talked about the Inspector Gadget takeover of Season 2 many times and the gravity the event felt like it had, notably Become As Gadget - how the entire channel just morphed into something wholly new overnight and stayed that way for days on end. It clearly left a strong mark on people, Mike Matei's shitty cartoon character impression keeps showing up at irregular intervals on the channel and the takeover itself is a really notable part of the series' lore - and, of course, it was what led Scribble1k to make her first ever rip. The original Go Go Gadget $400 Meme Making Software was a wholly self-made arrangement by the ripper, reimagining the Inspector Gadget theme into an ominous boss battle theme, filled with clips from the aforementioned Mike Matei video and various Season 1 SiIva memes throughout, as if to suggest a battle between Gadget and the very channel itself. Four years later, Gadget 4 feels like a culmination of everything Scribble1k has learned through her time ripping - her magnum opus, if you will.
To that end, then, it absolutely succeeds at its job - and there's something I just find oh-so-befitting about Scribble1k's last-ever Gadget Boss rip dropping during the season all about celebrations. The notes Scribble1k herself has left on the wiki herself are surprisingly detailed in a way I could only hope to be, but the point is the same that I'm aiming to convey here - the rip fucking bangs. It goes for a far more dark electronic sound than the prior installments, a dramatic piano intro paving the way for shit absolutely hitting the fan. I love that even with the Inspector Gadget melody as the central focus, Scribble1k has grown confident enough to be more self-indulgent with Gadget 4 - as described on the Wiki and heard in the rip itself, a whole 2 minutes in the middle serves to play a medley of music from the Touhou series, for instance.
There's tons of cool shit hidden in this rip that I wish I had the time to truly dissect, but I feel that I need to reign myself back a little. It's a super interesting, fun listen regardless - I highly recommend taking a look at all four rips just to see Scribble1k's evolution as a ripper over the years. Having such a clear "checkpoint" for each year of one's ripping journey is a really fun quirk to have, and just one more fun little wrinkle onto SiIva's massive catalogue.

The Last Three Minutes Of Kanye's 'Runaway'
A man who grieves the death of his moral self while still being in control of it is the most broken of them all.
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Kanye West's magnum opus released in 2010, may have been received as one of the greatest albums of all time, but for Kanye, it was the highest place he was destined to reach in his entire career, something which he knew very well. His self-awareness was keen enough to help him recognize his own worth and expertise, yet as he was at the top of the world there was no one to pull him down. His family, the only thing anchoring him to the ground had broken away ever since 808s and Heartbreak, and as he tried to find solace in his own intelligence, friends became contemporaries, the audience only an afterthought. In that space, from where the only way one could go is right back down, Mr West wrote My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, almost as a final hurrah not only to the peak of his artistry but also to all remaining morality inside him, before he gave up on himself.
Runaway was the exact moment where this happened. From identifying himself with the worst of his audience and celebrating them to screaming about his now self-distrust at the bridge, Kanye did not fall involuntarily, he descended, knowing that his twisted mind could not return to what it was, but yet still refusing to let go of his personality, trapped in the folds. And yet, as the beats and snare cut out for the piano playing on its own, the old Kanye came back for the last time.
There have been many interpretations of what the last three minutes are supposed to mean. Some say it's the distorted truth that no one wants to hear or the true eponymous fantasy into which he is escaping, running away from reality.
There is another - guilt. Sheer remorse and guilt
As Kanye succumbs to his twisted mind, the last genuine thoughts of the mad genius are lost to the pianos and vocoders, leaving behind the emotion and sadness of a man who knows that some things just cannot be undone. All hope is expelled in autotune, and his grief drawn out as software binary. The Kanye we knew died as abruptly as the song, and Ye took over, as seen today rapping about fucking pornstars.
