All The Leaves Are Brown (And the sky is gray) by AvocadoLove - the Winter Soldier kills Howard and Maria Stark... And then raises their young son. This is absolutely incredible, and Bucky & Tony's father / son relationship is so bittersweet.

Things I Almost Remember by IcedAquarius - probably the most interesting Tony is Peter's bio dad fic, purely because Tony doesn't know. More angsty than most fic I read - and be warned: it hasn't been updated in a while. Ned, MJ, and Helen Cho are standouts!

Love is Pain (Well, Darling, Let's Hurt Tonight) by OverlyObsessed223 - a crossover with the X-Men movies, where X-Men Peter and MCU Wanda can feel each other's pain. A bittersweet look at sibling relationships. Slightly more X-Men focused.

RECOIL by VulpeculaAnser - a season 1 rewrite of Agents of Shield, focusing heavily on Daisy and the trauma that would ensue if she got her powers earlier. Focuses on the found family relationship of the team. Tragically unfinished.

Steve Rogers at 100: Celebrating Captain America on Film by many - a hilarious historical archive of Captain America movies. Absolutely loved all the historical references. Minor Steve/Bucky.

Best Stucky Fics

What I'm Looking For by TessaBennet - a long, sprawling series of stories that rewrites all of the MCU with a Stucky focus. If you have to read one fanfic on this list, this is the one for you. It fixes canon in so many ways, and completely changed the ways I view many characters for the better (especially Natasha, Sam, and Wanda). The second fic, focusing on WW2, and the 6th (on the events up to/Civil War) are by far the best, but every fic in this series is incredible. Seriously. Read it.

Don't Ask by AnnaFugazzi -a WW2 Steve and Bucky have a secret relationship, and are found out. Realistic and HEARTBREAKING consequences ensue. Ends on a bittersweet note, and is amazing. Be warned - the sequels get much darker and deal with non/con. Personally, I stop reading here.

A Long Winter by dropdeaddream and WhatAreFears - A Stucky fic looking at what would happen if Steve didn't go into the ice, but Bucky was still the Winter Soldier. Steve and Peggy's relationship, and the Howlies, are written so well.

despite the threatening sky and shuddering earth (they remained) by praximeter - The Winter Soldier's mask doesn't come off - a slow burn that delves into the torture Bucky endured and the slow realization about who he is on Steve's part. Very dark.

Never Like This by RobinWood - another slowburn Winter Soldier identity reveal fic. This one in particular writes the whole avengers team so well, especially Tony and his reaction to his parents dying.

Time Travel and Other Fic-It Fics

the reactions of a dead man by agloeian - it's down to Loki to arrange things to stop Thanos. Some really funny bits, and a good look at the limits of what can be changed with time travel. The Loki & Strange relationship is great.

god loves everybody, don't remind me by napricot - Erik Killmonger gets stuck in a time loop. He learns the meaning of family along the way. The author writes Erik so well!

Bringing Him Home by sancuary_for_all - A post No-Way-Home fix it. Ned and MJ have gaps in their memory. Eventually, they piece things together. Really sweet Peter/MJ relationship.

If I Could Start Again by Taarko - at the end of Infinity War, Thor is sent back in time. The amount of lore in this fic is incredible! And the characterization of Thor, Loki, and Valkyrie is great! Very Asgard focused and goes deep into their history.

The Wyvern by emmamagnetised - Tony has a younger sister, who is in the car with their parents and is taken by Hydra. The trial of the Wyvern arc is wonderful and sold me on this. It's loooong, be warned. A Bucky Barnes/OC fic.

The Siren by emmamagnetised - a WW2 story about a spy for the Allies in Nazi Germany - who is a childhood friend of Steve and Bucky. Cute relationship between her and Steve.

- Thor cutting off Thanos' bits like somebody who's not afraid of a bit of brutality unlike gutless weeb tony stark

After much consideration...

I have come to a conclusion. The Marvel Fandom wish to return to 2012 BUT they want to bring all the new characters minus their emotional baggage... Sort of... (they want the character development and fluff).

I have a solution for this.

I propose we create an entire new reality for the Avengers consisting of the following:

Tony and Clint live on coffee (Clint replaced milk with coffee in his cereal one time and got banned from the fancy coffee machine for two months)

Natasha and Clint have their own language consisting of Russian, signing, gibberish and facial features

Clint lives in the vents

Thor lives on pop tarts

Loki is baby sat by everyone and treated as the overdramatic emo teenager ("where is that screaming coming from?" "Loki, someone ate the left over pizza.")

The Science Kids and Science Bros become the Mythbusters. There are many explosions.

Movie nights, chores lists and family meals are expected

There's no unnecessary romance

Everyone tries to become Morgan's favourite (Peter's number one, then Natasha. I refuse to believe otherwise.)

Prank wars are a common occurrence

Casual joking games turn into full out competitions

Avengers start an ultimate frizebee and dodge ball team as a joke. They end up getting banned from the park (which Tony then buys just because)

Family meals are chaos

Everyone teasing Peter about girls at school. Natasha shuts it down when she sense uncomfort.

Pietro is Thors speedy delivery boy

Wanda and Pietro sibling bonding

Visits from the Gaurdians (Quit hating on Quill. How would you react if the love of your life died just so their parent could add something to their ugly bracelet?)

Rocket follows Bucky around for his arm and Sam records it all

Ned and MJ are unofficially adopted by the Avengers

Peter gave Happy the nephew equivalent of the dad talk. Happy was just trying not to laugh throughout

The Fantastic 4 visited one time and Jonny and Steve decided to mess with everyone. Bucky and Sam did not appreciate that.

Clint stole a penguin. No one knows where from.

Everyone goes to Bruce for everything. He ends up crying into Thors shoulder because "I'M NOT THAT TYPE OF DOCTOR!!!"

Black Fridays are a nightmare

Nerf wars are dangerous.

The assassin squad win every year

Hide-and-seek is ridiculous. Steve used a metal detector one time and Bucky retaliated by removing his arm

Bucky’s got his goats

He named one Steve because it's a reckless idiot and keeps running into walls

Assassin Squad make dead body jokes and Peter's still not sure if they're joking or not

Pietro calls Clint old man

Clint adopts everyone and everything. "Clint! Stop recruiting people!" "But this one's got potent..." "THAT'S A PIGEON!"

No one knows where Clint is getting all the animals from

Pietro gives everyone nicknames

Steve and Natasha trade Mom Friend duties

Tony wants to recruit Cassie

Scott is offended that Tony acknowledges Cassie but not him

Training sessions are now explosive. Thor and Steve almost took out Loki one time.

How Endgame Should Have Happened

bc the science and everything is wrong.

The time skip would be between 1 month and 2 years. Long enough to have an effect but not too long

5 years pokes way too many plot holes for future movies

Bc of this, Morgan is not born yet…. An end credit scene could be announcing Pepper’s pregnancy

Thanos did not destroy the stones.

The science behind this is too weird, the stones are basically the divine power in the MCU and destroying them messes up a lot.

Instead: he uses them to re-scatter them across the universe

He scatters all but the soul stone

The soul stone has Gamora in it. Thanos’ whole emotional appeal is Gamora, so it would make sense he can’t part with ‘her’ even if she’s in the stone

Instead of time travel, the OG 6 + the others travel space to recollect the stones

Scott’s quantum realm business could have offered a way to easily track the stones or give them a way to travel to them

Once all the stones are found, they have to face Thanos for the Soul Stone

But first! They need their own gauntlet. Tony, Thor, and Bruce can travel to the star and create one

Thor is the one to wear the gauntlet. He is a god.

The thanos confrontation can be an epic battle, but the avengers get the stone from him

Thor snaps. In order to prevent the destruction/decay to getting to the rest of him, he uses Stormbreaker to cut off his arm. This would pay homage to the comics, as seen in this post.

However! With Thor cutting his arm off, he only brought back all those who were snapped/killed by Thanos.

 Thanos is still there. The cool scene where everyone comes in through Strange’s portals can still happen. And! The hot-potato with the gauntlet would too because Thor cut it off.

Eventually Thanos gets it

Tony reverse unos it

As a redemption for Peter Quill, Quill sees Tony with the gauntlet and remembers in the first Guardians of the Galaxy how the power can be distributed (My roomie says he’s too dumb for that, but i think it’d be good character development and way to fix his big oopsie in IW)

Quill rushes to Stark, grabs on and the other guardians do so.

Steve is the first avenger to grab tony, a way to kinda fix their relationship, the rest of the avengers do so

Peter Parker has a hand on Tony’s back to show how he is picking up after Tony

This whole scene could have the avengers theme playing in the background, but it’d be piano, and soft. It’s powerful, but not in your face powerful

This would show how the avengers/MCU piggybacks off of Tony Stark

Tony snaps, his arm is ruined, but he survives

He’s in a coma for a while

End credit scene of pepper sitting by tony in hospital telling him she’s pregnant

Far From Home would almost be the same

Tony is in a coma and they don’t know if he’ll ever wake up

“Fury” gives EDITH to peter because he doesn’t think Tony will wake up or he thinks he’s dead

Either way, everything is the same except Tony wakes up when Peter and Beck are in their final battle

He’s just a little behind Happy

The scenes where its switching between Peter/Beck and Happy/petes classmates would also show Tony Stark, fresh from a coma with a destroyed arm, frantically running through London looking for Peter

Peter and MJ would still have their cute scene together

Tony finds Peter either after MJ or when Peter changes out of the suit and reunites with his class

Far From Home would still focus on Peter being his own person, but Tony is still there for him in the end

Steve Rogers would not abandon his life he has in the 21st century

he got his closure with Peggy

also, there’s a post/interview where it is revealed that his worst nightmare would be going back to the 40s and leaving his current friends

all three of his movies were him going after Bucky, he’s not about to abandon him for an old girl

also no time travel in this!

Loki didn’t turn blue when Thanos ‘killed’ him

If they needed people to die, they could have killed them, however, the stones are basically the MCU’s divine. When any of the avengers have the stones, they have basically all the power of the universe. Anyone who dies they can bring back. I have a lot of problems with how they treated the characters. Steve’s character was destroyed. They made Thor, someone who lost all his family and friends a joke. They killed Nat, the original female avenger who deserved to see her family together. And by killing Tony, they basically say the only way to escape your trauma is death. Not a fan of that. When telling a story, it’s the writers’ job to tell the true story. Steven King says each story is like a fossil, and you slowly have to carefully dog it out to get the whole thing. When writers follow the right path and do what the story tell them, it results in good writing/stories. It shows when writers try to force something in their stories because that’s what they want. It happens when businesses are too focused on catering to fans than telling the actual story. It is painfully obvious when a story looks/feels forced.

Anyway, Endgame was problematic and could've been way better if they narrowed it down to focus on the original avengers for closure and didn’t mess with time travel/the mcc’s divine powers.

“You’re just a gross fucking queer Parker. That’s all you are, a dumpster case.” Loki spat. Peter was backed up in a corner, surrounded by the biggest, badddest seniors of midtown high.

“It’s a wonder no one has broken your ugly face.” Bucky chuckled, his leather jacket was just a little to glossy to be badass, but Peter was not about to point that out. Sometimes staying silent is just better. “Yet.”

That addition got a loud roar of approval from the rest of the gang.

Peter knew that he was about to get his ass beat, there way no way he wasn’t. Not after he had  walked in on the boys changing. How could he even help it, Ned & MJ were waiting for him and P.E  was about to begin. Normally he would’ve waited until they finished getting dressed, to avoid getting his ass beat, but if was late one more time he would get detention. So he had to risk it.

Well this risk didn’t pay off…

 “Hey fuckheads, how ‘bout you leave that poor sophomore alone.” All the heads snapped in the direction of the sudden sound. Peter used that moment to get the hell away from his bullies, running toward the voice.

The second he noticed it was Pietro Maximoff he wanted to turn around. Pietro was the star of both the track and the football team and above all the downright most popular guy in the entire school. Peter had spend his entire school career avoiding him. Afraid of the mean words he must have for him.  

But before Peter could run another direction Pietro had pulled him to his side. “I got you kid.” He whispered in his ear. Peter had heard Pietro was from Sokovia, but he had never dared to imagine an accent this intoxicating. No wonder all the girls loved him.

“Really Maximoff, we sticking up for faggots now?” The look of disgust was clear on T’challa’s face.

Pietro merely chuckled. “My sister is the biggest lesbian around and you are surprised I don’t like a bunch of braindead monkey’s bullying people for shit they can’t help?” Wanda, Pietro’s twin sister and the head cheerleader, is dating Natasha Romanoff, the only woman on the football team. A fact Peter never really realized until now.

“That’s different, this one walked in on us getting dressed!” Loki said, defensively.

“Oh yes because Peter is supposed to wait until you are done getting dressed, just because he might be into dick?” Pietro’s hold on Peter got tighter and Peter noticed the clenched left  fist. “Like he’d come onto a bunch dudes in the middle of the locker room.”

“But- ” Bucky tried to argue, but Pietro was having none of it.

“No buts you are being fucking disgusting and if I ever and I mean EVER see you bothering Peter again I will mess up your already fugly faces.”

Without another word the boys left. Peter expected Pietro to let go, but he didn’t. Instead he pulled him in even closer, wrapping both arms around him. It took a while before Peter realized he was being hugged. It took even longer before he hugged back.

Suddenly he was overcome with emotions, the tears started flowing and he couldn’t stop them. “Sorry.” He muttered, his head against Pietro’s shirt.

Peter could feel the chuckling rumble trough the other boys body. “Oh Peter, please don’t be sorry. They’ve never been nice to us queers have they?”

US queers?

“Did- what do you- Us queers?”

Pietro nods, “Why do ya  think I’ve never had a girl hanging on my arm. It’s not like they aren’t lining up.”

“I didn’t know…” Peter is confused, how come he didn’t know the most popular guys in the school was into guys. “No one talks about it.”

“I don’t keep it a secret, but I don’t exactly go around screaming about it either, Princessa.” Princessa should feel like an insult, but coming from Pietro it feels like, almost, a compliment.

Then Peter realizes another thing, “Pietro, how do you know my name?”

“I might have done some asking around.” Pietro admits, his face growing redder with the second.

“Maybe?”

“Okay, definitely.”

Peter can’t help but smile. Pietro Maximoff, the most popular and honestly the hottest guy at midtown high asked around about HIM. He then looks up his eyes meeting Pietro’s, their lips are almost touching. Pietro leans down, he’s going to kiss him.

Then suddenly the door swings open. “PARKER! YOU’RE LATE AGAIN. THIS MEANS DETENTION!” It’s Coach Jacobs, standing in the doorway, looking angry as ever.

Peter quickly lets go of Pietro and runs toward the door. “I’m so sorry. I got… distracted.”

“I don’t care, come in now. This is really your last chance.”

Peter looks back one last time, hoping to see Pietro, but he’s already out of the locker room. A wave of sadness hits Peter, but he understands, Pietro probably wanted to avoid getting in trouble. Not being seen with him…

The next day Pietro leaves on the track team’s trip to his home country of Sokovia.

That time in the locker room is the one and only time Peter ever interacted with Pietro, because Pietro dies in Sokovia. Peter heard something about a heist gone wrong.

Now Peter is left mourning a love that never really was and Pietro is dead.

I predicted it, but I still can’t believe they did it. And man, did they do it.

I knew Loki was gonna die, but it was still a bummer. Right at the start of the film without even getting to see any of the other Avengers again. What happened to Valkyrie though? I don’t think they showed her in a shot of all the dead Asgardians but I feel like if she were alive, they would’ve said something. So she probably bit the dust along those other side characters who tagged along with the Asgardian refugees at the end of Ragnarok.

They almost got me with the Tony fake-out, but I was right; that’s not the way to end his character arc. It’s also not really surprising in retrospect that Captain America didn’t die. If he was gonna, they’d have given him more screen time to build up to it. But he was pretty much just a supporting character. If you could point to any individual characters who stand out as the main protagonists in Infinity War, the ones the story is actually about, it’s Tony, Thor, and Gamora.

What did surprise me were the deaths of EVERY SINGLE GUARDIAN OF THE GALAXY, sans Rocket and Nebula of all characters, (Also, what happened to the Adam Warlock tease at the end of GotG2? Doesn’t he have the soul stone in the comics? WTF was up with bringing back Red Skull?) as well as Spiderman (poor Aunt May, if she isn’t dead too...), Black Panther, and Doctor Strange (after teasing a sequel with one of his allies turning evil at the end of his film).

It’s honestly a bit strange how it all worked out. I mean, half the universe is half the universe, so really there should be a 50/50 chance any character could die, so it makes sense that around half the Avengers would die... Unless you look at it on a grander scale; the Avengers are composed of a couple dozen people among trillions, yet that many of them ended up on the wrong side of the coin toss? Also, I did a little counting, the death toll in this movie is actually more than half.

Although we know from the Ant-Man 2 trailer that Scott, Hank, and Hope are alive and Captain Marvel is obviously alive since she was teased at the end, of the characters shown in Infinity War who are Avengers/Guardians or closely associated with them, only 9 are confirmed to have survived the snap;

Some of the choices were quite strange. Why did Rocket and Nebula live while Gamora, Starlord, and Groot died? Why did Falcon die instead of War Machine, who’s more or less redundant when Tony’s still alive? Why did so many Guardians die, but 0 members of the original Avengers? Unless you count Nick Fury, or if Hawkeye turns out to have been killed offscreen. Why Spiderman? The worlds most popular (and lucrative) superhero?

However, even if the Spiderman, Black Panther, and Guardian’s sequels turn out to be unsubstantiated rumors, I still think it’s not going to be permanent.

Doctor Strange told Tony there was a single scenario where they succeed and that he wouldn’t trade Tony’s life for trillions. His final words to Tony were “It was the only way”. Clearly, he saw a scenario where somehow this all works out to being undone. Most likely he saw that Thanos needed to get the stone, but at just the right moment so that Thor would have his axe and be ready with it in time to deal a blow that would weaken Thanos so that he could be defeated later and the gauntlet used to reverse the damage. Captain Marvel will probably be the key to this. I don’t know much about her, but it sounds like she’s the Superman of this universe, so she’s probably the only one at this point capable of defeating Thanos and wielding the insane amount of power in the gauntlet. I also read a little thing mentioning that the solo Captain Marvel film would take place in the 90s and probably involve time travel, as that’s supposedly part of her power set. I’m wondering if there won’t be a connection to Doctor Strange involved. Like, maybe he used the time stone to set in motion events that would lead to CM getting her powers and that’s the reason why someone that powerful is only now being called upon; she literally didn’t exist until she was retconned to life in this film. Either that, or maybe before the start of Doctor Strange the stone was discovered and used for shenanigans involving CM before being put away for safe keeping.
