Sanji and Usopp during The Sabaody Incident™ won't leave my mind.
Usopp standing in front of Sanji protectively because he is wounded and he can't fight, so Usopp will do it for him ("I'll do what you can't do").
There is just something about Sanji's expression when he realizes he might actually lose Usopp. This is my interpretation, at least. He is literally frightened.
Usopp helping Sanji stand up to run away. This is crucial for something I want to point out later: Sanji needs help to stand up. (Also, Brook disappears trying to protect them both and saying he will do anything to save them even if it costs him his life. I am feeling sick).
Sanji being self-sacrificing and blaming himself for not being able to protect them/act sooner is not new. But he does manage to gain the strength to fight when Usopp is the only one left with him and the possibility of losing him is even more real now.
The thing that I love the most about this is not Sanji sacrificing himself for Usopp, because he does that. He is like that. But Usopp not running away or moving in the slightest because he refuses to leave Sanji on his own.
Something I'd like to point out too is that Sanji actually touches Kuma before Usopp disappears. He tries to fight and protect him and Kuma could've easily sent Sanji to Momoiro Island right away, and yet Sanji was just sent flying far from the scene and forced to see Usopp disappear in front of him.
And I am not saying that "not being able to protect both Brook and Usopp (especially Usopp) is needed for Sanji to realize he has to become stronger and find more reasons to go back with the crew" but not being able to protect both Brook and Usopp (especially Usopp) is needed for Sanji to realize he has to become stronger and find more reasons to go back with the crew.
Not to mention that we can't deny (right after Water 7/Enies Lobby) that Usopp is one of Sanji's strongest bonds within the crew. This specific scene focusing on them both is more than enough to prove it.
Sanji seeing Usopp disappear in front of his eyes without being able to do anything to save him.
Remember what I said about Sanji needing help to stand up seconds ago? Well. This is him the moment Usopp disappears. What adrenaline and the power of love do to a mf.
They are so "I can lose everything, but not you. Oh God, not you" shaped.
🌹: Jack, what on earth is that outfit supposed to be? You look like you’re headed to a party or something. It’s slovenly. Now button up your shirt!
🐺: Uh, looks like you're gonna be hitting up that party with me, Riddle Senpai! You're totally decked out with flowers right now.
🦈: Bwahahaha! You look sus as hell in those sunglasses, dude. They suit you to a T. Heh, this is great.
🐙: Look who's talking. If you went into town dressed like that, the crowds would part like the red sea with how sketchy that getup is.
🦇: What in the world just happened… Yuu! What about me!? How's my outfit, do I look cute!?
🦐: You look very cute, yes.
🦇: Oh, thank goodness. Crisis averted!
🐈: I know you’re always tryna look cool, Ace, but you really went off the deep end this time. Who do you even think you are, tryna pull off that tacky getup!?
❤️: The heck!? When the hell do I ever try and look cool? Besides, you’re one to talk. I bet if you looked up “tacky” in the dictionary there’d be a picture of those flaming red sunglasses next to it!

was stuck offline in splatoon 3 because internet was actin up and i realized how pretty the photomode splatoon 3 filters are compared to the actual game
i was taking photos on brinewater and thought. damn. this game looks fine but i miss how VIBRANT splatoon 1 was! i wish i could play sploon 3 with this photomode filter on all the time. and brinewater is the best map for this because of the sunset lighting! so i went to one of the worst offenders mapwise for general color—undertow spillway. it is a warm gray mess:
for someplace underground, it’s WAY too warm of a tone—even if there are skylights, they aren’t very well defined, as they’re off in the background—they’d be better with some light shafts to pop out more, imo.
so here’s undertow with photomode filter #6 (this would’ve been a video but tumblr limits to 1 video per post):
and i think this looks a lot nicer, colorwise! the icky warm gray is shifted to a soft pink—and while that’s still not in keeping with the lack of obvious skylights, it works better than warm gray.
so then i opened ibis x paint and got to work on a filter that would hopefully help elevate the entire game’s look:
on top is photomode filter #6, in the middle is the original screenshot, and on the bottom is my proposed filter.
i upped the contrast, brightness, and saturation a bit, then added a 5% pure magenta (#FF00FF) overlay layer on top of that. then i added a slight gaussian blur to emulate antialiasing, which nintendo refuses to do for some reason!
and i wanna play splatoon like that! i miss the vibrancy and intricacy of splatoon 1…
incoming splatoon 1 essay‼️
not only were the colors eye-bleachingly bright, but the overall game feel was much more immersive—especially in ink physics. you could paint trees, and the ink would drip down through leaves as if it were rain… ink splatter would respond to the movements of platforms, keeping its intertia as it dripped! you could see the textures of surfaces through the ink, as if it were an actual liquid instead of a layer of thick oil. 3 doesn’t have any of those special touches.
there’s also the music… 1’s ost feels so much more WEIRD and experimental than the later games, and that really helps cement that this is not human society—this is a new thing—which tracks for splatoon 1, as it was so zany nobody had ever seen anything quite like it before! splatoon 2 follows this sheer melting-pot of brashness and creativity with evolving and varied styles—where once was punk and weird samples in Squid Squad is now groovy rock in Wet Floor, jazz in Ink Theory, and also whatever Sashi-Mori was. also i <3 chirpy chips. splatoon 3’s music goes back to that punk, but i feel that it loses some of the charm and creativity of the first two games. C-side is pure metal, and hardly uses any weird instruments. there have sparsely been other splatbands involved with regular battle music—Yoko&tgb call back to the jazz of Ink Theory which i love! Off the Hook’s new tracks delve into a new style in piano rock. but the main band kind of falls flat to me. :(
let’s talk stages. in splatoon 1, stages were wildly different from each other, including skateparks, construction sites, underpasses, malls, sewage plants, and other locals that are culturally underground. the rest of the trilogy moves away from this in a story standpoint, as ink battles evolve from punky, diy competitions into full-fledged championships in 2 and 3, with advancing battle infrastructure as time progresses. that’s fine, and honestly it’s cool to see that kind of worldbuilding! but in 1, each stage was designed about and influenced by the area it represented. Arowana Mall is a straight line with high vantage points on the second/third story because it’s a mall. Pirahna Pit features convenyor belts that shuffle refuse around because it’s a trash plant. Blackbelly Skatepark has so many hills and valleys because it’s a skatepark, for goodness sake. splatoon 3’s original stages have some of this charm, but it feels lost in ambiguity. why doesn’t Mincemeat Metalworks have small moving platforms on cranes or other heavy machinery? Idk, have some grates and one-way drops, and a car on a post. why isn’t there any water incorporated into the stage design of Brinewater Springs? Idk, have 2 paintable walls and a tetris piece. 3’s original stages have little to no connection between their locals and the geometry, which make it feel same-y compared to previous games.
maybe this is because of the inflexible philosophy of the designers—or their corporate oversight, maybe. for stages, you need to make a straight line or tetris piece with few routes to push, in an effort to promote the game’s main premise of Chaos. for music, you need to make punk songs that aren’t too weird so they don’t drive away the parents. maybe the little ink touches could have been missing because development was rushed?
i honestly dont know why it happened out this way—perhaps the splatoon team just needed more time to cook, in order to squeeze out that extra 20% of game feel? or maybe it was that speculated corporate oversight, i dunno. things WERE missing on launch—notable exceptions being X rank, online tableturf lobbies, and no more than three salmon run maps. i know we’ve yet to even get the DLC but for being about 75% of the way through the game’s content lifespan, but splatoon 3 feels incomplete. there have been improvements, yeah! i just wish there could’ve been more. i would rather have waited another year for splatoon 3 if it were polished that much better, y’know?
i honestly feel like splatoon 1 captured that creative, no-holds-barred mantle of Chaos better than 3 does. 3 feels… flanderized, in a way. the curse of trilogies, perhaps? writing about it more, it feels like not only have the in-game sports of turf war been ripped out of its seedy home and thrust into the spotlight, and gone “mainstream” (see: massive squidsport companies investing in multimillion battle lobbies with holograms and lockers [sunken scroll about that!], flying coffee machines that grant you brief invincibility, new rules and techniques that allow squid surges and rolls, etc.), but also the Real Life Physical Video Game Cartridge of Splatoon has been popularized massively with the sequels on the Switch. maybe i’m not missing the “vibrancy” of splatoon 1 when i look at the colors and photomode filters of splatoon 3, but instead the inherent punkiness and counterculture inspiration that i see in the original.
i was feeling very eepy and not up to completing tasks so i took some adderall and let myself lay down for a nap with the thought being that the adderall would kick in and prevent me from sleeping for too long and then id be all ready to do shit when i woke up and folks. ima be honest the hypothesis did not quite play out
*elegantly set's a tea set in a beautiful table* no, let's make it about Sanuso, let's talk about Usopp having his hair down and how that affects Sanji.
Especially if they're not dating yet, I need pathetic Sanji pinning do I have so many thoughts about that, like him going out of the kitchen to give the girls their treats and everyone is looking at Usopp who is just drawing by the deck letting the wind blow his hair, Sanji having to go back to the kitchen because he's having a crisis over how beautiful he looked, him realising he might be gay and being in denial for a while.
Usopp letting his hair down more often and Snaji not being able to handle it so he avoids Usopp.
Nami noticing and trying to match them.
You are a person of culture I want to know your views on this
Oh, okay. Let's make it about Sanuso then *sips tea* (very funny because I am actually drinking tea right now 😭)
Usopp starts to let his hair down more often. Pretty much all the time, actually, unless he truly needs to see properly (when he's fighting or working). So whenever they're not doing anything important, he decides to leave the ponytails and bandanas aside to let his hair loose a little. So, on regular days in the Sunny or whenever they're on a calm island, Usopp's hair is undone.
And that's killing Sanji. It's not that he refuses to admit he likes men. Because. Well- Okay, it's a bit hard for him to admit he likes men. But he doesn't like Usopp. It's just that the sniper looks so ethereal and so gorgeous with his hair undone that it's really, really hard not to focus on him. But he doesn't like like him (that's what he calls it. Because Sanji has the mentality of a fifteen-year-old high school girl in a 2000s teenage rom-com). Except that he definitely "like likes" Usopp because he has never felt this way before and it still happens whenever he looks like he always does. It's just that his hair being long and falling over his shoulders like a chocolate fountain makes him feel all over the place. He ends up accepting that, well, he likes Usopp. Somehow. In some way that is not platonic but it isn't love either. Because it can't be love. Because it would make things uncomfortable between them and he can't let himself ruin the friendship they have. They're so close now. Usopp is probably his best friend out of everybody in the crew and the one who understands him the best. The one he trusts the most for his secrets and deep, intimate conversations in the middle of the night. So he's not risking all of that for a simple, silly crush. Because it's just that, a simple silly crush that will go away the second he gets his shit together.
But it doesn't happen, because Usopp keeps walking around looking oh so beautiful, and Sanji doesn't think he can keep doing this.
He tries to be subtle about it, always telling Usopp if it wouldn't be more comfortable to use one of his bandanas or tie his hair. He's always giving him hats and other possibilities that do not include letting his hair undone. But Usopp is always refusing with a gentle smile because he prefers it this way. He says he appreciates Sanji's concern, but it's fine and it isn't bothersome at all. He likes his hair long and free and wild! And Sanji agrees. He likes it too. But he likes it too much to focus on his daily tasks, and every day seems to be getting harder and harder.
It's even worse in the mornings when Usopp hasn't done his hair routine and hasn't showered yet and his hair is all messy and all over his face. It makes Sanji melt instantly, every time he sees him walking through the kitchen door. Usopp never seems to notice Sanji's reaction, but he always blushes uncontrollably and blames still being half-asleep for his stuttering. Besides, the fact that the guy moves around shirtless all the time with his abs and tits out for everybody to see does not help Sanji at all. He needs a break.
Okay, so the easiest and quickest way of dealing with this is obvious: Let's just ignore the shit out of Usopp. Awesome. Super clever behavior. (<- Running away from your problems but your problems your very hot best friend you're in love with and his long, precious hair).
And Nami notices because Nami isn't stupid. She knows something's going on and she knows it's because of Usopp's hair because, again, she isn't blind and she can tell when Sanji is acting dumb. So she tries to set them up by being silly and a little bitch like always.
Sanji is cooking (his demons away. His demons being his very gaygay feelings for Uso-) and he has been ignoring Usopp for a while now. Not ignoring, per se, just not being with him much? And Usopp can tell but he doesn't think much about it because Sanji just gets like that sometimes. He'll go back to being himself. It's fine (it's not). So Sanji doesn't expect Usopp to come into the kitchen now, because he thought he was hanging out with Nami and that's why he guessed it'd be a good time to cook without any risk of Usopp coming in here. Guess who was completely wrong? Anyway- Sanji is a bit nervous at first because he has realized (fucking finally) that his feelings for Usopp are something real and tangible and he can't escape from them unless he ignores them. But he tries to act like a normal person with normal thoughts (he is not).
When Usopp asks him his question, Sanji is a bit confused and all his worries fade away suddenly:
Sanji: Coconut oil? What do you want coconut oil for?
Usopp: Nami said it'd be good for my hair.
Sanji: For your hair.
Usopp: Yes? Thought you'd know about it with how obsessed you are with food-
Sanji: Yes, Usopp, I- I know about the properties of coconut oil. But I am not letting you use it.
Usopp: What? Why?!
Sanji: Because! We don't have that much left and I wanted to make cookies for the girl-
Usopp: Aha?
Sanji: And you. The crew. Shut up. The point is, even if you could use it once without wasting it completely until the next island, I don't trust you with my ingredients, and-
Usopp: Then you do it.
Sanji: What?
Usopp: Just put it on my hair. It can't be that hard for you. C'mon.
Sanji: And does it have to be now?
Usopp: Not really, but Nami keeps talking about it every damn second and she's getting on my nerves. If I don't do it now she won't shut up.
Sanji: Usopp, I- Can't you see I'm busy?
Usopp: You're cooking dinner at 3pm, Sanji. You're not busy.
Sanji: I'm not sure if this is-
Usopp: Please? Please. I will do anything.
Sanji: You know I can't fight you when you say that. It makes me feel guilty. Like kicking a reindeer.
Usopp: Nah, you'd kick Chopper if you needed to but you can't say no to my beautiful eyes.
Sanji: Do you want your hair oiled or do you prefer ending up bald?
Usopp: You won't do that. C'mon! Get on with the coconut oil!
Sanji: Right now?
Usopp: Please?
Sanji: You're insufferable.
Usopp: You love me.
And Sanji isn't brave enough to say that yes, he does love him.
So he does whatever Usopp says, and follows him to the bathroom. He kind of feels he's about to have a heart attack right now when he sees Usopp washing his hair first for this. It's too erotic. He can't look. He won't look. But Usopp is talking to him about some stuff he did with Luffy earlier. Fishing? Playing a game? Whatever, Sanji is not listening to him. He's trying so, so hard not to stare at him. The time passes and the cook miraculously does not die. His heartbeat is still going wild, though, especially when Usopp sits in front of him with his damp hair for Sanji to start working. He should've said no. He really should've just said no. But he sits behind him anyway and stares at Usopp's wide back being decorated with his silky, curly strands of hair. It's hypnotizing. Sanji even thinks it's inappropriate to touch Usopp's hair with how precious it is. He feels like he's unworthy of this. But Usopp won't stop telling him to do it already, and Sanji thinks that if he starts now he will finish sooner.
To not make this extremely long: Long story short, Sanji doesn't die. Usopp keeps talking and talking and it actually feels really nice after a minute. Usopp always has this talent for making Sanji comfortable anywhere they're at and at any time. He has missed this, after a long time of ignoring him. And Usopp seems to be enjoying it too, apparently. He keeps saying how good it smells and how hungry it's making him. And Sanji responds with a "mm. Perhaps I let you have a bite of those cookies after all" / "You were going to do it anyway" / "You don't know that" / "Nah, I know". And he hates admitting that Usopp is right.
When they're done, Usopp thanks Sanji, and Sanji wishes, deep inside, that they had to be together longer. Oh. But then Usopp comments something like "Fuck. I need to dry my hair" / "Huh. And the problem? You wanted this in the first place" / "I knoooow. But it's so tiring. It used to be easier when I had shorter hair" / "I could help you" / "What?" / "What?" / "Do you want to dry my hair?" / "What? No. I did not- Not if you don't-" / "No. That'd- That'd be nice. Thank you, Sanji".
That's when he knows he's fucked, because it's the first time that he almost says "I love you" out loud and he has to bite his tongue to not let his heart speak for him.
So basically, Sanji helps Usopp dry his hair. It's intimate. It's sweet. Sanji isn't that nervous after all, because Usopp never shuts up and he realizes his favorite sound is whenever he's speaking. That he actually hates drying his hair because the loud sounds make him unable to hear Usopp properly, but also loves it because Usopp is letting him take care of something as important as his hair. And they're also so, so close... But he doesn't think about it. He won't think about it.
But he inevitably thinks about it when they finish, Usopp's hair a bit all over the place, but extremely beautiful and even shinier than usual. It seems softer, too. Sanji can't help but want to touch it. There's this silence between them but it isn't at all uncomfortable, even if it makes Sanji turn all red and laugh in a way he never thought he could.
Usopp looks at Sanji a bit shyly and says: "Sorry for making you do all of this. I think I've forced you a little, right?" / "What? No! I did it because I wanted to. Although you could've certainly been less intense about the oil thing, but- But it was nice."
But then the sniper shrugs, looking away with a look that clearly tells Sanji he's thinking about something way too hard. "Do you think I should cut my hai-" / "No! ...I mean. Why would you do that? I think it looks great. And you like it. A lot." / "I dunno. It's very high maintenance? I wouldn't want to waste all your ingredients on thi-" / "I don't think it'd be a waste. Not if it's-" / "Mm?" / "It's just- Nothing. I just think it'd be a crime for you to cut it. We can just buy more oils. For your hair, specifically. And if you ever don't feel like taking care of it, I think I did a pretty good job" / "Don't be stupid. You don't want to take care of-" / "Yes, I do. I would, I mean. If you wanted to. It's relaxing. Like cooking but without the eating part" / "Are you thinking about cooking my hair?" / "Kind of looks like a chocolate fountain" / "That's the only thing that comes to your mind when you look at me?"
A loose strand of hair ends on Usopp's face, but he does nothing about it. Sanji acts instinctively, moving it away and placing it behind his ear. "Not the only thing."
And I wish I could say they kiss, but it probably ends there. Sanji realizes what he said and makes up an excuse to run to the kitchen while he leaves Usopp all confused, blushing, and like a complete mess on the bathroom floor.
When the sniper gets out of there, Nami winks at him and says "Your hair looks softer, huh? Did the extra hands help too, besides the coconut oil?" And he doesn't know if to yell at her or thank her.
some more stuff that makes me obsessed with the theory that Fantasia film represents the Ramshackle dorm
Fantasia = Fantasy = Imagination = Imagination being SUCH AN IMPORTANT ASPECT OF USING MAGIC in Twisted Wonderland
When it comes to the Player and Grim, I feel like "Fantasia" as a term fits the way we're supposed to get NRC students to cooperate a bit more.
Fantasia, as a film this time, fittingly brings very different animation pieces together in one big beautiful thing with various gorgeous music.
Ramshackle dorm also has a guest room to welcome anyone from other dorms. :)
Fantasia music doesn't have a strict form, which supports Ramshackle dorm being flexible and being to accept other dorms no problem
Fantasia has a perfect villain to represent it like other dorms. Yes I’m bringing up Chernabog in yet another post and you can’t tell me to shut up.
Since Chernabog doesn't have characterization, he's super flexible in how you can use him.
He wouldn't have trouble leading the villains that represent other dorms, because he's a powerful demon.
The main thing he does in Fantasia is calling upon other supernatural forces+spirits to one place, even. One more point to the whole theme of Ramshackle bringing things together.
Chernabog also apparently HAVE been The Leader once in a book series called Kingdom Keepers, but I haven't read them personally.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Kingdom_Keepers_characters
Chernabog also perfectly fits the weird.. gender order the TWST main story books have?
Book 1 - F - Queen of Hearts
Book 2 - M - Scar
Book 3 - F - Ursula
Book 4 - M - Jafar
Book 5 - F - Evil Queen
Book 6 - M - Hades
Book 7 - F - Maleficent
Book 8 - M - Chernabog (if Chernabog/Fantasia indeed represents Ramshackle. I also wholeheartedly believe Grim/Player will get their book part in the main story)
this is kinda bizarre but i felt the need to include this still.
Chernabog is referred to as "The Ruler of Monsters" in TWST. THE MAIN RAMSHACKLE'S MAGIC USER IS **DRUMROLL** Grim my beloved, who is a monster.
Ramshackle's Big Disney Villain representee being a Demon who pretty much summons all the local spirits for a party with fire and dancing plays wonderfully into Grim being a mischievous little monster who brings trouble and lives with ghosts.
Let’s not forget the intro’s battle with Overblot!Grim, who is also a hellish demonic looking thing, and how all the overblot forms of NRC students have at least SOME sort of resemblance to the Disney Villains they represent.
As a sidenote, I still believe Grim himself is also supposed to be Jabberwocky themed. TWST is not a stranger to combining different inspirations in one place, so we don't have to stick to just one inspiration with Grim and Ramshackle either.
Jabberwocky is a monster anyway and Chernabog is the ruler of monsters.
this is a new addition to this post as it has been in my drafts for a while but @/the-fandom-closet pointed out how Chernabog RULES over monsters and MC was referred to as a beast master by Crowley (his own words in EN: "I've never seen anyone bend a monster to their will quite the way you have").
So MC would vaguely connect to Chernabog by ruling over Grim, a monster.
I feel like Chernabog could also connect to MC by being more otherworldly. Chernabog is a more supernatural/otherworldly force compared to the Great Seven, and We/MC are literally from another world.
in conclusion
*GRIPPING YOUR SHOULDERS* DO YOU SEE WHY IM SO OBSESSED W/ THIS THEORY. PLEASE GOD
can someone remind me to write up my thoughts about gallagher and the enigmata later or at least compile them somewhere i want to share it but also my Goodness i am sleepy as heck today and i have work tonight 😔
im thinking about possession aftereffects that linebeck experiences immediately after the events of phantom hourglass, so here are bullet points i have down for my own ideas
he’s out cold for roughly five days after the fight. he’s conscious for a bit after being freed, but it doesn’t take long for him to collapse once he’s transported back to the great sea. link finds him when he reaches his ship to see him again (he takes a lifeboat or w/e from tetras ship its a whole thing and not the point) and ends up having to take care of him for those five-ish days.
while he’s out cold, he develops a bad fever, and has a good few physical injures from being possessed; all of his wounds from being possessed manifest as burns, the worst wounds bring cauterized and mostly closed, while smaller ones are still open wounds. the largest wound is a large burn covering most of his back, which is cauterized by the time he passes out, and then there are smaller, still open burns on his upper arms and legs. (the smaller wounds are manageable by link when he follows some medical instructions, [there are some medical books on the ship] the larger one is also manageable, but takes a lot longer to properly heal).
(link asks tetra and her crew to stick around for a while to keep linebeck stabilized while he’s unconscious. when linebeck wakes up, tetra and her crew are good to leave because then linebeck can better report what’s going on, and knows how to handle injuries).
linebeck’s fever persists after he wakes up, and he experiences… pretty much every fever symptom, with especially bad chills and full-body aches. the aches are really bad for the first few days after he wakes up, he’s extremely physically weak and shaky for a while, too. that weakness and shakiness get better with time, but he doesnt go entirely back to normal without actually moving around and doing things to build that strength back up.
he’s delirious and struggles to stay awake for those first few conscious days, too, which makes that weakness and shakiness worse; he struggles to eat and drink water, and struggles to string together thoughts or words to talk to link, and both of them figure out pretty quickly that they’ll have to wait a bit longer before so much as an attempt to coax him out of bed can be made.
beyond existing problems with food, linebeck struggles to keep anything down while he recovers, and becomes ill pretty much every time after he eats anything, so a bucket is kept near his bed. with water, he obviously needs to drink a lot of it considering that he’s feverish, injured, and vomiting frequently, but while he’s sick he has a bit of an irrational fear of water (along with an irrational fear of air and the wind, which makes him hesitant to go outside while he’s sick).
he’s generally pretty irritable, which isn’t particularly new, but it makes him prone to refusing help with certain things. he’s less irritable when tired and just resting. he’s also especially nervous, and despite the overall fatigue, he struggles to sleep for very long while he’s sick, and as said before, is often delirious and even confused when things are bad.
along with the other difficulties eating, linebeck has a hard time swallowing for a bit, and salivates a lot more than normal while he’s sick. he is soooo fucking dehydrated the whole time and that really doesn’t help.
while the weakness and shakiness stays for the entire time he’s sick and even a bit afterwards, for the first few days after he wakes up he’s stiff and also experiences some muscle spasms and numbness in his limbs, and has a hard time keeping his balance the first few times he gets out of bed.
once the sickness clears up fully, linebeck has to still be careful with the scar on his back; it’s sensitive to touch for a while and hurts when exposed to the sun or air for too long and when he stretches his back too far, but eventually just reaches the point where it’s a bit sensitive but is otherwise just a large scar.
obviously he’s also going through the wringer in an emotional and mental illness sense too but those would require a whole new bullet point list.
okay you know what? I think it's time for me to take advantage of the release of the Percy Jackson series to talk a little about the relationship between the Greek and Roman gods, because I have a feeling that we're going to have a new generation of people who are convinced that the Romans "stole" the gods of the Greeks and... um, I feel the need to talk and analyze this thing with you. Because the matter is much more complicated than you think
Like SERIOUSLY, the pjo fandom and Greco-Roman mythology enthusiasts in general need this chat.
First of all it is important to understand how the Italic populations came into contact with Greek culture, and who the first Romans were.
Southern Italy (Sicily, Calabria, Campania and Puglia) was colonized by the Greeks since the 8th century BC.
Like any colonization, the local population had to adapt to the culture, religion and language of the colonizer (in Italy there are still two dialects coming from ancient Greek. Griko in Puglia, and Grecanico in Calabria). Every part of the territory considered Magna Graecia (Megàle Hellàs) presents archaeological finds relating to the Greek colonies, and with them also temples dedicated to the gods. (So much so that in Sicily, at the beginning of spring the Antesphorie (or antephorie) were celebrated in honor of Demeter and Persephone, for example).
The entire Etruscan pantheon was strongly influenced by the Greek one. The indigenous deities were joined by the Hellenic ones, creating a new religion.
But still: who were the Romans? The legend of the foundation of Rome refers to Romulus and Remus, but from an archaeological point of view the Romans were probably the result of a mixture of Latin, Sabine (plus Samnites and Sabelli*) and Etruscan peoples. The latter influenced the initial Roman Pantheon the most. Just think of the similarities between the Etruscan goddess Menrva/Menerva and the Roman goddess Minerva.
The same applies to Maris and Mars, who among other things share holidays in March (a month dedicated to them moreover).
Unfortunately there is not much information on the Sabine and Latin ethnic group, but it is known for certain that Etruscans had contact with Magna Graecia, and the Greeks in general, so their culture was never unknown to the Romans.
So what does this tell us? That the Italic populations knew the Greek Pantheon, because they had been colonized and/or influenced by the Greeks. The first Romans can't exactly steal something that's already part of their culture.
*Samnites, Sabelli and Sabines were part of the same ethnic group, and although all three groups can generally be called "Sabines", I preferred to specify. At the same time it is not known how involved the Picenes and Irpinians were initially with the birth of Rome, so I have not mentioned them.
I Really Like Nathaniel because the guy embodies Hope and Positivity without forcing it down the gullets of everyone around him.
He looks like he'd be a pleasant individual to actually be around at 7 am. Even before his coffee. [ Sera should be too, she doesn't seem like an unbearable person to be around in La Matinée ( the Morning ) . But still, she is alot grumpier than her other half. ]
With that said. Insert Happy music here. Nujabes or Smth.

Love the way you drew Nate here! such a clean style and serious face :> He's my favorite little quadfocal guy... friendly, polite, and a good conversationalist! You're absolutely right, he's one of the easiest people to get along with. It's almost like he knows exactly what to say to people.
Sera isn't grumpy so much as she is disinterested and dismissive. She heads to work without bothering to make small talk besides a basic "Hello." if she passes you by. Not the worst outcome, really, if silence doesn't bother you.
