one of the best series there is. period. the fluff, the angst, the drama, the humor, the romance, the friendship, the plot, the dialogues - everything is top-notch in this series, i'm telling you. bonus points for being narrated in both reader's and gojo's pov.

royal!gojo who's terribly in love with the reader x reader who's equally (but way more discreetly) in love with gojo. add to that, the trope of childhood sweethearts reunited as adults, excellent communication between the couple and a wonderfully-crafted world and dialogues - what more could you ask from a series?

a fic which i adore with every fibre of my being. i will not say anything more about this, except to request you to go read this. you'll love it. (especially the fantabulous ending. btw, did i already say how much i'm in love with how well-written this fic is?)

one of the best angst-with-a-happy-ending fic there is. i wish i could give thousands of kudos for the heart-wrenchingly amazing way the author has portrayed gojo's character here.

⌀ Mother of otherness, Eat me [oneshot] by itsbaby on ao3

one of the most beautiful works i've read so far. told from yuuji's pov, it explores gojo and reader's relationship and its nuances in a way seldom done before. however, what stole the show for me, was the soft and sweet mother-son duo the reader and yuuji grow to be in this fic. i really love this one-of-a-kind masterpiece.

i love love love this fic. it's so fluffy, so funny, so cute, so heart-warming... just read this fic, people. you won't ever be disappointed by the dynamics reader and gojo have in this one. one of my all-time faves, tbh.

a sweet and realistic depiction of reader and gojo being teenaged parents to young megumi, all the while they try to figure out their feelings for each other. a perfect mixture of fluff, angst, drama, slice-of-life and romance, imo. (also, the author's notes are pure gold. whatever you do, please don't miss reading them! :D)

if you wish to watch godlike!gojo willing to let go of his powers, out of guilt and immense, immense, protective love for the reader, this is the ideal fic for you. i'm in awe of the way the writer wrote gojo's complex persona and the way the sorcerer realized his feelings for the reader. (the second chapter's the cherry on the cake. it's so good!!!!)

fluff? A+; angst? A+; drama? A+; characterization & dialogues? A+; humour? A+++++. a sureshot way to end a long hectic tiring day on a happy note is to read this series. (my go-to comfort series, ngl. :])

an adorable fic of gojo being in love with the reader, who knows, yet doesn't really know, much about it. plus, the feline-like features of gojo are sooo cute... and this fic is sooo sweet... the story left me smiling when i finished reading it.

an amazing fic set against the backdrop of the hidden inventory arc. the portrayal of the characters and their dynamics is simply impeccable. despite my kind-of-dislike towards this particular arc of the manga, i really enjoyed reading this one.

Sweet Tooth’s very own lil guy circus, now travelling Kalos! A performance where only one man comes out on top, the clown himself. Aged somewhere between middle aged and “Young as a berry”, this clown will have you wishing you never crossed paths with such an entertaining enemy. He won’t wipe your party without cracking a few jokes along the way. He’s not afraid to play dirty, but for the sake of good showman ship he’ll start off fair.

Which would be fair information if I didn’t write it myself, huh? You never know when the shows gonna start, so make sure you have your tickets ready! Or don’t! You didn’t really have a choice. Participation IS mandatory! My pronouns are He/Him, but if don’t worry about forcing the words out of your mouth when you’re warning your friends about the c-c-c-c-c-c-clown.

Machete: A rather interesting looking Honedge with a bit of edge. Pretty sharp, if ya know what I mean.

Mimo: A Mr. Mime with a wonderful outfit! A Fire/Psychic type with a cute outfit to match her trainer’s, what’s not to love!

Vani: A Strawberry Flavored Vanillite with a very creative name! Cherry on top and sprinkles! 

Pretty Kitty: A sylveon that isn’t really expected to fight, just to look pretty for the show! All dressed up with the cutest little outfit, they’re the perfect distraction for any ambush. (to be designed) 

Dizzy: They say no two Spinda are alike, but they can be if you make yourself dizzy enough! This dude’s all dressed up in his clown best! A classic puffy little outfit that’s sure to make you forget the trainer behind him. (to be designed) 

Squishy: A Banette with a rather silly look to her. There’s no time like the present, and Squishy’s little tricks will have you rolling on the ground with laughter! (to be designed)

hi! names padfoot! i am an adult, so this entire blog is adult run. this is my first time running something like this on tumblr!!! so i am very excited! Sweet Tooth is adapted from the Twisted Metal series! I say adapted because he has been tweaked just a bit to fit the setting, but he’s still a loveable evil clown either way. everything will be tagged either with basic pkmnirl or rp tags :)

as far as everything goes, the concept of adapting him in this way, his design, and his first three pokemon are all credited to @moderator-monnie and @lazy-charlie ! the current pfp and the forever existing reference art was done by lazy-charlie! 

pfp and banner will be updated with the full cast at some point or another, but for now its just the truck and such. the other three pokemon will be drawn up and posted whenever i’m able to do digital art again, so far now text based description is all you get :( 

dni is basic, no nsfw (suggestive is ok!!!), no type of hate fuelled phobias, no slurs, no zoos maps or drama starters.  if i dont respond please dont get too upset about it, i will try and make responses to everyone that i can but if i miss you feel free to try again! just dont spam. as stated, i am an adult so i do have an adult life i need to tend too alongside this silly little project.

🍒 My top 15 BLs and GLs 🍒

This is my second time doing a list like this, the first one was one year and a half ago, so many great QLs have aired since so I’m excited to see what changed. 

This is my personal opinion and based on my enjoyment of the shows, not only their quality. Minor spoilers.

1. Not Me (Thailand, 2021) 10⭐

Still my favourite bl and one of my favourite series in general. I got into the bl world as this was airing and I still remember the feeling of awe and trepidation I felt every week as a new episode dropped. Everything is almost perfect, the acting, the plot, the characters, the pace, the visuals... Not only do the two couples have great chemistry but the whole friend group does. They tried to raise some awareness on important social issues and in my opinion they succeeded. It has so many iconic scenes I can't forget. In my opinion it’s one of the best bls ever created.

2. Bad Buddy (Thailand, 2021) 10⭐

Another almost perfect series. The pacing is the best I've seen, everything fits together smoothly, and every big or little thing that happens makes complete sense. Flawless equilibrium between comedy, romance and drama. And the acting... both mains are brilliant but Nanon, and especially Nanon's eyes, got to me. The moment I saw Pran getting teary eyed and trying to hide it in episode 4 I was gone. 

Even now I can’t get over it, I rewatched this series four times I think? It doesn’t sound like much but I don’t rewatch anything, ever. I keep going back to it, thinking about it and rewatching random scenes too.

3. Cherry Magic TH (Thailand, 2023) 10⭐

This is not #2 because it’s been two years and I’m still obsessed with Bad Buddy but it could have been. The main couple, Tay and New, have a spell over me and I adore them, but they are just the cherry on top (pun intended). This is a series about second chances, friendship, growing and learning even if you're an adult, kindness, opening up, acceptance… I’m so proud of everyone involved in this project, it’s perfection made series, I can’t think of a single flaw, a great cast and I’m referring to everybody not only TayNew, an immaculate plot, great emotional connection. I watched the last episode live without subs available and I spent half of it crying, that says it all.

The novel has a previous japanese adaptation, if thai series are not your thing and you haven’t watched the JP version, please do, it’s also amazing.

4. Semantic Error (South Korea, 2022) 9.5⭐

It’s a pretty straightforward plot but the leads are amazing and have great chemistry. Everything looks so pretty and I love how they play with colours. It’s a comfort, feel good series exceptionally well executed, I could watch it again and again too.

5. He's Coming to Me (Thailand, 2019) 9.5⭐

The first series that made me ugly cry in a very long time. The only way to describe it is beautiful. I would never have imagined Ohm and Singto worked as a pair but they do, they really do. It would be a 10 if not for the ending, which it's neither happy nor sad, because it's not an ending. I wish they would have been braver and given it the closure it deserved, happy or not.

6. 3 Will Be Free (Thailand, 2019) 9.5⭐

Technically not a BL because the romance between the men is not the centre of the plot, but it’s part of it so I’m counting it, it has to be on this list because I adore it. I’m scared I’m going to spoil somebody so spoiler: it’s about a polyamorous relationship between two men and a woman. It’s important to me to say it because it was the first time I saw this kind of representation done so well and especially with a happy ending like this. Also Jennie playing a trans woman seeking to avenge his dead boyfriend. This series it’s everything. Sometimes I don’t like thrillers like this but it’s so intriguing and well done that is easy to watch. I wasn’t entirely satisfied with the ending but it’s the only bad thing I can say about it.

7. Moonlight Chicken  (Thailand, 2023) 9.5⭐

This is one of the realest stories in BL I’ve watched, it feels authentic and different, mature. It’s also hopeful, don’t think it would be on this list if it wasn’t, as good as it is. I can’t speak for deaf people but I’ve worked with deaf children and the representation seems carefully well done. After watching this who could've thought Aof would be so careless with the blind representation in Last Twilight, it’s a shame, knowing they could done much better.

I have to confess I’m not a fan of Earth’s acting, I kinda don’t get the hype about him, and I started to notice how much he sighs in everything and now I can’t stop, and it bothers me quite a bit. But in my opinion this was his best interpretation and the rest of the cast is excellent, even little Fourth and Gemini in their first roles did such a great job.

8. To My Star (South Korea, 2021) 9⭐

Like Semantic Error and many Korean productions everything technical was impeccable. Very cute and cosy for something that came from Korea. I could empathize with both Seo Joon and Ji Woo throughout the whole story. I can't include To my star 2 because even if I still like it, it was too sad for me and the ending too unsatisfactory.

9. My School President (Thailand, 2022) 9⭐

As I said, Fourth and Gem are great actors, especially Fourth, and they play so well together. You can tell the director used to work with Aof because this feels a bit like him, and that’s a big compliment. The comedy is so well executed too. This is another feel good series, you can’t finish an episode and not feel happy, it’s like a bad day remedy. So cute too.

10. Never Let Me Go (Thailand, 2022) 9⭐

I don’t know exactly what it is about this series, because I expected more, from the plot and the thriller side, more suspense and plot twists, but I still loved it a great deal. Maybe it was the actors, because this series made me a Pond Phuwin fan, they are not the best of the best in terms of acting or chemistry but they improved a lot and they have this special charm, and were very suited for their characters. It was still a moving and quite complex story. Also Perth was in it and that’s always good.

11. Manner of Death (Thailand, 2020) 9⭐

It's been a while since I watched it but I remember the chemistry being excellent and the plot being messy but enjoyable and entertaining. I appreciate the characters being full adults and the themes being darker than other bls, I love the uni dramas but it's good to have variety, I think it was the first BL I watched where they weren’t in school anymore.

12. Love by Chance (Thailand, 2018) 8.5⭐

Not usually a fan of dominant/complacent couples but they are just sooo cute. And at least Pete is an active and enthusiastic participant in the affection and love making scenes. I love Ae as a character, I think Perth did a fantastic job, especially knowing he was only 17 years old in this. Both he and Saint are some of my favourite thai actors. The chemistry was 1000/10, even today it’s hard to find actors who have this kind of easiness with each other. It’s one of the first big Bls and by MAME so obviously some things don’t hold up to today’s standards but not as much as you would expect. 

13. GAP the series (Thailand, 2022) 9.0⭐

Why does this have a 9? Yes, it was messy, inconsistent, predictable, and the acting could have been better… But the chemistry is undeniable, yeah it has flaws but we get to see Sam slowly opening up to Mon, their little kisses that were not kisses, the sleepovers filled with tension, Sam anguish about her grandmother, building a life for herself so nobody can control her anymore, the girl's friendships, the beautiful outfits. Maybe if someday we get so many great GLs like we do with BLs this will not be so special and slowly fall down the list, but that’s not the case for now.

14. HIStory2: Crossing the Line (Taiwan, 2018) 9.0⭐

Not much to say about this, also cute, also amazing chemistry, I got chills from the way they looked at each other. I loved the characters and their personalities. Usually I don’t particularly like sports series but in this it was alright, not boring.

15. KinnPorsche (Thailand, 2022) 9.0⭐

A few plot holes but interesting to watch as it's the first mafia bl I've watched. For me, the selling point is the main couple, amazing actors who you really believe are in love, desire each other and are comfortable with each other. Something I especially don't like in bls is the couple being afraid of contact between them, and this is the total opposite, they feel like a very real couple who grow together and adore each other. I know it's a weird point to make about a mafia series but it's what I loved about it and the reason it has nine stars. The side couples, I don't hate them but I don't care about them much.

Honourable mentions:

Series that I enjoyed watching, probably more than some on this list, but the ending was not it: Last Twilight (Thailand, 2023), The Eclipse (Thailand, 2022). They get 8.5/9 starts but I can’t include them in a favourites list if I can’t watch them without getting frustrated.

Series which I haven't finished watching but could enter this list when I do: We Are (Thailand, 2024), Wandee Goodday (Thailand, 2024), My Stand-In (Thailand, 2024).

When I started watching BL I had time to watch almost everything that was airing but with time this has slowly changed, and also my preferences. There are too many on air at the same time to be able to watch and also I started to lean more towards thai series in general and began to watch less from other countries. Maybe I’ll start to get bored of it someday but right now it’s the country that has most of my attention. I also watch almost anything GL but there’s not that much (yet, hopefully). I would like to make a top thai het series or lakorns someday but I still haven’t seen enough of them.

Daniella Walker. The name that is mainstream as she was making her way into the music scene as what the internet calls their "pop princess."

Daniella first had internet fame how everyone does in the early 2010's, by posting on Youtube. From the age of 16 she started posting covers of her singing different popular songs at the time ranging from Halsey to Ariana Grande. First viral video being her cover of Honeymoon Avenue from the album Yours Truly.

Her life changed at 19 when one of her self produced songs called Speechless dropped and became an overnight sensation. Flying from her home country of London, England to countless radio interviews to her first American Music Awards as an attendee and performer at.

That’s when she met some of her longtime friends in the music industry, 5 Seconds of Summer. She met them because she accidentally bumped into a red haired Micheal as she was coming off stage and they were about to take the stage. The two gushing over much they enjoyed each other’s music.

She was a huge Amnesia fan.

Over the years they continued to keep contact with one another. She was featured on their 3rd album Youngblood on their song Want You Back as backing vocals.

Daniella had also become a regular feature in 5SOS content. As well as being posted on their respective girlfriend’s Instagram’s pretty frequently.

For a little while she was considered a groupie when she went to Bali with them in 2016. Until stan twitter quickly defended her from the trolls on the internet claiming how do they not know her.

She was now 24 standing in line at her favorite local coffee and bagel spot in downtown Los Angeles. The line continued move at a slow pace as she hummed along to the beat in her airpods she been sent the night previous. She was absolutely in love with it. She had a studio session set with Max Martin that she definitely couldn't be late for.

He's worked with artists like Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, Ariana Grande, and Britney Spears.

It's been a dream of hers to work with him and only her 3rd album that is saying she's gotta be doing something right.

She finally approached Bailey, one of the cashiers she had blossomed a friendship from after being a regular here for 4 months.

"Everything bagel with a side of strawberry cream cheese and Iced Americano double shot with light ice and vanilla creamer!" She shouted to the back. "Hey Daniella."

A smile was plastered on her face. "Hey girlfriend! You'll never believe what I've got planned today." She started as she dug in her purse for her card to hand over for her to swipe.

"Please you're literally a pop star. If you told me you were going to meet up with Kim Kardashian I would probably believe you." She stated in her strong jersey accent as she handed the card back.

"No I wish, but on my bucket list though, maybe I could get a discount on those Skims bodysuits I like. Anyways besides the point here, somehow managed to get a studio session with Max Martin! And cherry on top, the guys are showing up with Ryan fucking Tedder.” She said excitedly as she moved off to the side of the line so other people could move.

"See this is what I mean. It's Thursday at nine in the morning and you're going to work with your hot Australian friends and I'm here covered in flour all day while dealing with the bitches in the back and isn't Max Martin that Swedish dude who's written and produced for basically every A list singer." She leaned against the register.

"Yeah it's so exciting is it not. And Alexis you're so talented at making bagels. Hone in on that." She joked making the curly haired blonde roll her eyes in fake annoyance.

“Your accent makes this sound all posh Dani.”

“Oh whatever.”

"Your beautiful everything bagel and iced coffee m'lady." Bailey turned around to the kitchen workers as she handed her two paper bags one full of her favorite little snacks and the other with her bagel.

"Oh my goodness, you didn't have to do th-." She started.

"Oh please shut up yes I did. You're gonna be late with the hot guys.”

“Text me when you can, I'd love to hear all about it." She smiled.

"Will do."

As she was on the highway on the way to the studio her mind was clouded with thoughts some negative some positive, but mostly negative.

Before she knew it she was finding a parking spot and walking into Capitol Records.

Showing security her badge, she looked down at her Apple Watch and cursed, realizing she was going to be late if she didn’t climb the stairs in under 2 minutes. Thank god for her zumba classes she’s been taking.

Once she figured out what studio she was gonna be in for the next 6 hours, she spotted his long hair and glasses talking to Ryan and the four men sat in the couch in the corner. All of them laughing at something on Luke's phone. She knocked bringing their attention to her standing at the door slightly out of breath.

"Daniella! Pleasure to finally meet you." Max said getting up from the comfy chair to give her hug.

"So nice to meet you too. I'm so incredibly excited and I also see you've invited some of my good friends." She stated nudging Ryan's elbow.

"He had a lot of positive things to say about you." He said sitting back down.

"Daniella you probably know them," Ryan gestured to the men sitting on the couch.

"Know them. These guys are basically a second family to me." She joked.

"I hope you don't mind that I decided to bring them along here to hopefully do some live instrumentals for ya." He told her looking at her with a smile.

"Oh my goodness not at all! It actually sounds so cool. I’ve missed these guys." She smiled widely.

Micheal stood up and gave her a brotherly hug. “Have you gotten shorter?” He joked making Daniella give him the bird.

“Haven’t you gotten weirder.”

“Touché.”

Ashton was next, giving her another squeeze and pat on the head.

Then Luke who did their handshake they made up in Bali together, that neither of them forgot even after 4 years.

Finally it was Calum who smiled at her first and then suddenly picked up her up and spun her around in a circle, earning a loud laugh from Daniella and his signature smile that she still got butterflies from.

Even after her 6 years of knowing him, he still makes her blush like a school girl.

“Alright everyone let’s get to work to hear this beautiful voice of hers.” Max stated turning around and facing the recording booth as Daniella walked in and put on her headphones.

Two hours passed as Daniella stood in the recording booth, recording the second verse. She was mumbling the possible verse in the microphone. The song had a Lorde lyricism with Ariana Grande singing vibe.

She and Max had titled the song Selfish. Max and Ryan giving her corrections if needed. Other than the couple comments or corrections from the group she had total artistic freedom and she loved that.

“Could we leave that first half blank of that chorus and I’ll stack some more vocal layers on that run.” Daniella suggested over the noise of the metronome. “Thank you.”

“Yup sounds amazing.”

While Ryan was stacking her vocals, she leaned next to Ashton's drum kit and told him what pace she needed for the chorus.

Calum was fiddling with his bass strings trying to tune them when Daniella walked over. “So what’s your big opinion on it??”

“I think it sounds bloody brilliant.” He said in a Scottish accent.

“Don’t make fun of the Scottish people.”

“You always seem to forget I’m half Scottish and you’re literally British.” He laughed as she hit his tattooed arm slightly.

Max leaned into Micheal's headset, "Okay Mike start from when Daniella comes in at "I used to be cautious about this and stop when the beat drops back down to the acoustic version that we have prepared.”

3 more hours passed as their session ended and Daniella so proud of the song they had made and gotten mastered.

"Alright, could we schedule another one for Friday morning? We’ve got selfish crossed off the list. We could get started on Messier Things as well." Max asked her looking at his calendar.

She nodded with a thumbs up. "That should work with me."

"It was so good to finally see you guys today. What’s new in the wonderful world of 5SOS land." She asked the boys as they were walking to a lunch spot on the less crowded side of LA so the likelihood of them all being noticed and ambushed by paparazzi was a zero percent chance.

“Going on a promo tour for Easier. Thats literally all. New York, LA, Atlanta, and some overseas.” Ashton said laughing.

"Well whatt are you guys doing for the day of love that happens to be tomorrow." She asked wiggling her fingers together.

"Spending time with Sierra." Luke quickly answered with a smile. He loves that woman more than air it seems. But it’s good to see him so happy.

"Crystal wants to go see some new movie." Micheal stated with a raised eyebrows. He probably had no clue but he was with Crystal and thats all he cared about.

“Oo lemme know if you need a dog sitter. I’ll bring Pepper. Y’know she loves Moose and Southy.”

"Probably just a dinner with KayKay." Ashton’s bright smile came up whenever he talked about KayKay.

"Absolutely nothing." Calum said quickly with a slight eye roll. She knew how he felt about Valentine's Day. He hated that day with every fiber in his being.

"We could spend it together Cal, I'm not doing anything either. It can be like old times!" Reminiscing on when they would go their favorite Ramen restaurant in the city and rewatch Criminal Minds at his house whenever they were both free.

As much as only everyone around them knows, they've had a flirty relationship ever since they've met. But what they don’t know is they claim they’re just friends who have occasionally kissed each other, slept in the same bed, and she's worn his clothes more than once but just friends.

But due to them being too awkward to act upon their obvious feelings, they have no official label on whatever they are.

10 BEST Low Heat BLs - Soft & Sweet (Safe to Watch with Parents)

Not sure I am the right one to answer since I'm the opposite of a prude but I'll give it my best shot. Please keep in mind that these are romances, so there will be at least a kiss (in most of them), I'm thinking Disney level, so they might also be okay for kids, but as I always say with kids, you know your kid best, you have to judge what they are okay to watch. 

1. Cherry Magic 

AKA 30 Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard AKA 30-sai made Dotei Da to Mahotsukai ni Nareru rashii AKA Cheri Maho

Japan 2020 - CrunchyRoll or Fan Subbed 

The sweetest fluffiest magical realism BL, packaged as a pinning office romance, very low heat (practically chaste) but the cutest. It’s truly great. It’s not in my top 10 of all time list simply because the heat level is too low for me, personally. 

No kisses for the leads, side couple kiss is v dead fish. 

2. Light On Me 

Korea 2021 - Viki 

Korea does an elegant pastiche of traditional live action yaoi but all tropes are cleverly deployed to bolster one of the most riveting love triangles ever put on screen… and I don’t like love triangles. LonM strategically tailors classic BL tropes to 2 different semes resulting in pristine pacing, plot, and character development, explicitly serving narrative a-not just to tick boxes. LoM is a master class in this technique. (If you write fanfic or romance you should study this show.) Full review. 

Very low heat, Korea in peak chaste form (pre their 2022 “oh, boys can kiss” epiphany). But there is dildo humor. 

3. My Love Mix Up 

AKA Vanishing My First Love AKA Kieta Hatsukoi 

Japan 2021 - Viki 

Completely adorable absolute chaos bi disaster muffin falls accidentally and completely in love with his classmate, hijinx and friendship result. What’s great about this BL is that it deals with things like homophobia, asexuality, and one sided affection in an extremely gentle and palatable way. Perhaps sometimes too subtle, but I believe this is a great show for younger audiences, particularly if you want to spark conversations about identity, sexuality, authority, truthfulness, and consent. Oh and it’s funny. 

No kissing at all. 

4. Seven Days: Monday-Thursday & Friday-Sunday

Japan 2015 - grey

Never doubt my ability to recommend this show. One of the best live action yaois ever made, with perfectly structured angst, fantastic characters and acting, and no problematic tropes (rare in Japanese BL). 

The leads have excellent chemistry although it’s low heat there’s still some really cute mutual kisses. 

5. Wish You: Your Melody in My Heart (movie)

Korea 2020 - Viki

Set in the music industry featuring a talented singer and the pianist who falls in love with him (and his music), subtle and achingly adorable. High production, low heat, short run, very tame, and Korea, so more of a western style. It’s not the most logical story though. No coming out, exists in the “Korean BL bubble universe” where everything is just fine and dandy with the gays.

Kisses but they tame and no sexy.

6. He’s Coming To Me 

Thailand 2019 - YouTube

Boy and ghost boy fall in love, must solve ghost’s murder. Peak pining but also pretty tame, features my favorite sweet but important coming out sequence. The third in my precious triumvirate of unbeatable Thai BLs, that are only nominally BL because the story, acting, and production values are so good. (Together with UWMA & 1k*).

One (maybe two) soft romantic kisses. Nothing else possible. 

7. Restart After Come Back Home 

AKA Risutato wa tadaima no ato de 

Japan 2020 - grey

Atmospheric study in rural Japan meets complex family dynamics built on a romance framework of city boy meets country boy, grumpy/sunshine. It’s beautiful and icy sweet. Slow moving in places but ultimately worth the patience. Full review. 

Low heat, low angst, very pretty. 

8. My Ride 

Thailand 2022 - GaGa

Thai BL grew up with this pulp - a truly lovely and special little show featuring the extremely rare pairing of sunshine/sunshine AKA a cinnamon roll couple. Mature explorations of relationships using one of the softest, sweetest and most innocent friends to lovers vehicles. Kindly, overworked doctor meets broken-hearted motorcycle taxi driver in an “other side of the tracks” slow burn romance. The support cast is excellent, making for great friendship groups and family dynamics. With honest queer rep that adds to, but doesn’t impede the story, and genuine conversation about the nature of class, wealth, and classism, not to mention communication, honesty, and respect for boundaries, you can’t go wrong with this show. In other news, I am a sucker for a single dimple. Full review.

9. Mr. Unlucky Can Only Kiss

AKA Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice but to Kiss! AKA Fukou-kun wa Kiss Suru Shikanai!

Japan 2022 - Viki & GaGa & indie subbed

Mr Chronically Unlucky (another adorable chaos muffin) and Mr Always Lucky end up dating after they meet at uni orientation. It’s JAPAN yet they kissed in the first episode. What freaky alt-reality did I enter into? That’s all they kiss tho, over which I was a touch disappointed. Still I spent far too much of my time with this show biting my knuckles and squealing “THEY’RE SO CUTE!” It is very slapstick Japanese style comedic (light) BL reminds me of Cherry Magic. So if you like that style of BL you’ll adore this show. 

Amusing story: I paused mid the most tooth-achingly adorable first date in the entire universe and Viki was like “something missing?” and I was like “MY HEART YOU BASTARDS” 

One kiss beginning and some shirtless lust. 

10. What Did You Eat Yesterday

AKA Kinou Nani Tabeta?

A not really BL about middle-aged gay couple who live together, one of whom loves to cook and the other who loves to eat. That’s it. That’s all that happens. There’s a bit of coming out drama, but hardly really drama. It’s all very repressed but also incredibly restful and calming. Like classical music.

Most of my favorites come from the later seasons, sorry if that’s a disappointment to some.

#5 May I have this Ed?

This one is just cute, with the added bonus of Eddy basically declaring himself done with girls at the end. Between Eddy pretending to be way cooler than he actually is, Edd being terrified out of his mind over a dance, and Ed just having the time of his life, what’s not to like? The stuff happening in the background is almost funnier than the focus lmao. I wish Eddy hadn’t made them wear that ridiculous facial hair get-up, but I get it, it’s part of his character to fake puberty. Just… Eddy why.

#4 Hand Me Down Ed

Truly a very funny episode, but it is a little awkward to watch. The second-hand embarrassment is real. Someone please get Double Dee some clothes… Though, Rolf opening the door and just belting out in song was one of the moments that made me laugh the hardest in the whole series. I’m ever-fascinated by Kevin Lordi’s theory on the boomerang bringing out repressed traits rather than opposite traits, which is really what places this episode on my list.

#3 Every Which Way But Ed

What’s not the love about this episode? Baby Eds, Flashback gags, heavy-set characters that aren’t being made fun of, lines like “Zappity-Zap-Zap,” “You bet your sweet bippy I did!” All of it is just so wholesome and great. The storytelling is pretty cool too, we get to see the reasons behind a lot of small details we never would have thought twice about. But gosh the sequence with baby eds is too cute to leave off this list, I cry from the cuteness every time.

#2 Thick as an Ed

This has got to be one of the funniest episodes ever, which is why I’ve placed it #2. The humor is spot on, the writing is phenomenal, and the voice actors are truly the proverbial cherry on top of this delicious cake of an episode. The visual gag of the color falling off Double Dee from the stench has me in tears every time, and he and Ed’s little verbal spat is just *chef’s kiss* Literally nothing gets done but it’s far from a boring episode.

#1 Fistful of Ed

This one is number one on my list purely for the characterization and the writing. To have Edd become the school bully on accident was such a bold move, and they pulled it off so well. I love that they didn’t go a cliché route of having his friends back him up. Ed is actually scared of him, and Eddy, well… Eddy’s just an instigator, taking advantage of the situation for his own gain and not at all helping his suffering friend, in typical Eddy fashion. And to have Jimmy be the one who helps Edd in the end was a twist that I never saw coming, but it fit so well. This episode made me stop and truly appreciate Jimmy’s character. Plus, the ending sequence when Eddy tells the Kankers off was actually really nice. Overall, a very well-done episode.

💜i'll keep this short, but simply put, i finished my undergrad a while back and am now pursuing my masters before heading into the 9 to 5 gig forever😆

💜this also has to do in part with the after-effects of the pandemic, which is actually what impacted me the most and the reason why i had to go away. long story short, a lot of processes and things that would happen smoothly in your average academic year were disrupted exactly as i finished my final semester. suffice to say, i haven't had much time to make my usual content (or any content at all, for that matter🥶)

💜couple this with changing interests, just growing up in general and having to make some sacrifices. also tumblr becoming so...hyper-monetized for some reason :/

💜but it's all been worth it because i'm finally discovering my professional interests & place in this world after a long battle with depression and getting into the university that i wanted was the cherry on top!

💜so what does this mean for my blog? i've thought about for a good while and the best option for me right now is to archive it. i've made a lot of content that i'm very proud of and worked very hard on so i have no intention of deleting it blog ever.

Oh? Oh ho??? I am instantly curious about your opinions and thoughts regarding Fear & Hunger, as your insights are incredibly enlightening and I'm very much interested about your take on their mythos. Pretty please elaborate as you wish?

i barely have any thoughts, because i'm still in the middle of chewing through the delicious delicious id candy haha! also i have only scratched the surface of termina so far, so my understanding of the lore is very much Incomplete. despite that, i'm at a loss to where even to start, because there's so many things i could comment on. (please ask me more if you want to hear more!)

but yeah my opinion is that it's great. like the actual yikes and jank are surface imperfections that could be filed off and the core of sincere madness would remain the same. tho i feel it's also 100% one of the cases where the creative expression and power would not have had a chance to happen if there had been much more restraint. it's gleeful "wouldn't it be fucked up if —?" with an earnest side of "isn't it tragic that —?" that bypasses rational thought and hits you right in the pathos. you could dismiss it with so many different words — grimdark, edgy, immature, gratuitous, fake-deep, pretentious, the list goes on — but like. no. it's not in good taste, as in it's not trying to be tasteful or subtle or highbrow, and that's good. it's the kind of thing that would not work if it cringed and flinched away from itself even a little bit. but it doesn't, not even when it's silly and strange, and that's the cherry on top.

the first thing that gets censored about it is the sexual horror, but that's the highlight for me. porn and horror are such sibling genres. experiential. about taboos and what's monstrous and what's proper. combined, they form a holistic drain cleaner to unclog your subconsciousness. the gutters of my mind have been powerwashed.

but damn, the mythos. do i even have a take on it? again, i don't know much about termina yet, just some basic stuff and how it seems most of the endings of the first game are somewhat canon.

the gods. i don't know where to begin with the gods. please ask me to elaborate on specific ones. i know i have a lot of thoughts but i don't know where to start.

the shit that's inspired me is the way ascension works. how new gods are all about trying to make a difference, take the power back from the gods into the hands of humans, but inevitably burn out and become a part of the hall of the gods. the vibe i get (though i may be projecting my own preferred shit) is that power of that level does not just corrupt, it erodes. how neither of the most successful ones weren't fully human to begin with, and at least one of them was intentionally manufactured.

i could talk way more about the different endings and the different takes on ascension in them. but i'm going to explode if i try to fit all that in one post.

As always I am an avid rewatcher so I have a few stuffs ongoing.

I'm nearly done with my rewatch of The Gifted, and getting ready to follow up with The Gifted: Graduation (had a sudden PomNon-shaped hole in my life, u know how it is  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). I uh, I am working my way through my (second) rewatch of To Sir, With Love (yes in like a month I know I know) (have always been a little obsessive, bon). And from my nearly endless "crime-of-the-week shows I can put as background at work" list, I have started a Castle rewatch.

Spring is coming (I say as we just weathered two days of snow storm) and I got myself the Cherry Magic (series + movie) DVD as an early bday gift so a rewatch of that is next. In line with the spring vibe, Secret Crush on You is officially a year old now, and it has the exact kind of unhinged but soft feel I am in the mood for so it's probably going to be my next binge after my The Gifted double feature.

10. A Surprise Under The Cherries

This one was a part of a spring challenge (as well as some others on this list) but it was really difficult to come up with a concept for the prompt. As I was writing it, I was thinking "is this even right?" "Should I keep it like this?". In the end it was not as bad I thought but it was no fun writing either.

This was better as I had the concept in my head immediately after reading the prompt. Tho I was sad I couldn't make it longer, I felt that if I stretched it a bit more, it would lose it's magic (or what). But it is pretty short according to my standards so I can’t give it a higher position.

Coming up with this concept was hella difficult but it turned out quite entertaining to write. Can't help, domestic Whitebeard Family is always a pleasure to write. And nervous Marco as well.

Eventhough this is my top ranked marace fanfic in terms of hits and kudos, I struggled with like a half of the fanfic. I was deep in Soulmate AU rabbithole and wanted to write sth similar. And I think it's apparent from the writing that it's kind of forced. Nevermind.

4. You And Your Damn Freckles Are At Fault!

As I accidentally stumbled upon the prompt for this fanfic, I knew this would be a hit. Marco and Ace being teachers just made my heart flutter and when we add Marco's mistaking Ace as a student into the mix, my god, what a funny fanfic. The only thing dragging this fic down is that someone wrote for that prompt before me and I tried too hard to make this fic not as similar as theirs (cuz we dumb and we read it before writing mine).

3. Daily Flowers

Yet another of my Spring challenge fics. This one is my all time favourite out of them. Since it was linked to spring, I thought, flowers ofc. Since I know many ppl suffer from pollen allergy, I thought, that could be original. Then I thought, maybe I could sprinkle some flower language and the fic basically wrote itself. It was so much fun cuz office romance offers quite a lot of ideas. Hence the fic grabbing the third place. 

2. One Heroical Act Was All It Took

The concept for this fic was basically me rewriting a dream I had. It was supposed to be very angsty and a bit scary as well which I tink I accomplished. Even if I don’t believe in love at first sight, it fit this fic well and I love this story very dearly.

And here we have the winner. It’s not only my most favourite fic but it’s also my first marace fic ever written. Everything about this fic is just perfect, the use of language, the way I structured the plot, the way I portrayed the characters... I just love this story very much. It has the right amount of angst, but still is more lighthearted than the previous one. I’m sad this fic is not as popular as I’d wish but that’s maybe because of the setting. Hospital and serious injures aren’t exactly fan favourites. Still, if you like marace, give this story a shot.

Writing tip for the crow man / Character Analyzes

So this is basically a ramble on Crowley if your not interested then that’s ok :)

So Dire Crowley in Twisted Wonderland is known as the headmaster of NRC(Night Raven College) or known as a lousy, lazy, and selfish headmaster. He is usually characterized to be hated on a lot or just about everyone hates him. Due to his treatment of the protag, for in the Scarabia chapter he goes on a business trip( cough a vacation ) and leaves the homeless, magicless, and pretty much poor protagonist to fend for themself throughout the harsh winter. And the cherry on top is that he leaves them in a broken down and falling apart dorm that could not have a roof in just seconds.

But other than all of that I feel as if his personality is usually never really showcased in most fan-fic’s. I have just started playing the game and I had just noticed how over dramatic this man is and it’s hilarious and I just wish that his dramatic flare was put out there a lot more.

Along with fic’s where he is the protagonist “adoptive father “ I like the idea though I don’t really feel that he cares that much about them. For instance I feel like if he did he would offer them more money and stuff so they can survive in a different world. Or even try to help get them accustomed to everything cause how the heck could he even know that Yuu even has the same holidays or traditions. Even like the same types of people. I’m not sure how to word that but I mean like beastman, Fae, and maybe any magical beings.

Though he also is pretty narcissistic for he mainly just tries to do nice things and full on goes like “ Man I am such an amazing and generous headmaster right?…Why aren’t you agreeing with me!?” That is him almost every time he does something nice. And his self centered-ness is literally him bearly even caring that a child from a whole other dimension or world with him thinking “ Ok yeah they may be from another world but I gave them enough resources.” Meanwhile said child is literally on the verge of dying any second. And it’s so funny how he literally went “ oh your dorm has ghost and you two can get rid of them well then now you’re both janitors that I won’t pay.”

But if anyone would like to still do the fatherly Crowley I would love to see him just trying to help the protagonist get accustomed to their world. And maybe help them with finding answers in a library and having the protagonist list out characteristics and traditions of her world. But that���s mainly my opinions and ideals of a fatherly figure. And any ideas for writers block if you are wanting to write.

But this is just my poorly written analysis and poor analysis. hi!!! aaah im so excited that we have so many things in common <3 okay so my period drama recs. honestly i like all bbc versions of jane austen novels, especially pride and prejudice. the movie is good but the series is better (plus colin firth!!). but also emma (2020) was sooo good. now i’m not saying that the tudors is objectively good, but i am saying that i’ve watched it several times and uhh yeah i enjoy it. a lot.

the favourite is amazing too!! everything about that movie is just ❤️💖🤎 marie antoinette is also a fave. poldark is good! the gilded age, i wasn’t impressed with it but it scratches an itch! there’s also vikings but that one really deteriorates so yeah.

my reccs are splish splash love (time travel) - omg please please watch it. tropey but well done kdrama. it's a movie but definitely makes you wish it was a series. soooooo romantic! 😭 another time travel drama i was obsessed over (as in, watched it when i was supposed to be studying for the bar exams 😭) is Faith. It's another kdrama and so good. I loved the 2nd love interest to bits 😭

actual historical drama that i've loved are the white queen (she's too pretty! like a fairytale queen!), and Ekaterina (russian drama, loved it best up to when she seized the throne and was crowned empress because the GURL POWER! after all she'd been through to get there, the looooong listing of the places she held power over was really the savage cherry on top).

Top Kpop Songs of 2022

I FINALLY FINISHED WRITING IT... AND IT’S ONLY THE THIRD OF JANUARY!! A miracle. Anyways please enjoy my hard work (or not), hopefully you’ll find a song you like :~)

1. Thursday’s Child Has Far To Go - TXT

If you ignore Rock with you and some lingering 2021 releases that are always in my heavy rotation, TCHFTG is my most streamed Kpop song BY FAR this year (actually it’s #2 on my Spotify Wrapped right after Rock with you 🙂 i am normal)!!! Which is quite a feat considering I don’t even pay attention to TXT. Not that I actively dislike their music, I just haven’t been into it since their debut with Crown (I know they’ll never return to that ebullient bright sound but it’s ok 😔). This song has all the hallmarks of a solid bop in my book: consistent 80s beat, incredibly catchy earworm of a chorus, and a wonderful 80s synth post-chorus hook. I love how the pre chorus sounds emotional, almost as if they’re pleading.

Also I just looked up the writing credits and this has 19 people credited for composing???? My goodness

2. Love Love Love - VIVIZ

This song is sooooo good. It’s a very straightforward song but HOOO the house beat in this elevates an already great song to perfection for me. The house beat in the intro is 👩‍🍳💋, the first part of the chorus is kinda standard fare for an edm song drop, but then the second part of the chorus kicks in!!! And then the post-chorus “oohooohohoooh” seals the deal for me, as someone who loves that repetitive sort-of adlibbing (sorry I don’t know the exact term for this lol). Then when the second chorus comes up it goes straight to the second part, skipping the “oh, say, love, love, love, love” part. BUT THEN THEY BRING IT BACK IN THE FINAL CHORUS!!!!! The structure of this song is very satisfying to me…

I do wish that they hadn’t put in that trap breakdown tempo shift for the second verse but the rest of the song makes up for it. It’s not even egregious like some other trap breakdowns (forever haunted by the rap in Bboom Bboom, even 4 years later).

3. Brave - TWICE

This was the standout song on BETWEEN 1&2 for me… absolutely flawless song. The entire song is an earworm, both the verses and chorus, but damn that chorus and bridge really sell it. There’s a sense of catharsis in the chorus, with Jihyo or Nayeon belting, “Braaaaave” right off the bat, and the chanted “brave, brave, brave for you” both preceding and following each section of the chorus (also being a recurring part of the song). It just knocks it out of the park for me. Did I already mention this song is so catchy!!!! Definitely one of my contenders for best Twice B-side. Personally.

4. because - Rie

Originally I had slotted this song further down my list but I can’t deny how much I like this song… so into 4th place it goes! The filtered dreamy instrumental throughout the song establishes such a nostalgic, sentimental, yearning feeling. I really feel something in my chest when I listen to it. It’s a very straightforward simple song but the emotions it manages to evoke in me elevates it that much more, especially the chorus. And the slower piano outro at the end is the cherry on the top.

And, of course, gay rights💖🌈

5. Done - WJSN

While it takes a bit of time to build up to the main star of this song, Done’s chorus and post-chorus are so worth it. The first part of the chorus is fairly understated but the underlying beat is addicting, and the second part is pretty potent. Also, I have to say I often don’t vibe with Exy’s raps but I really enjoy the second verse here. Overall the song feels like a chill clubbing song which fits the vibe of what I like in loopable music….

6. LOVE DIVE - IVE

NARCISSISTIC MY GOD I LOVE IT SEOROREUL BICHUN BAM

I wasn’t expecting to like this song as much as I do now, especially since I didn’t like ELEVEN at ALL, but LOVE DIVE grew on me… I really like that it kind of captures that cool, stylish, better-than-you badass girl energy without having to resort to the shitty noisy girl crush sound that a certain 4-member group puts out… it’s perfect teen pop. If I was stylish in high school I would’ve made the song and concept my personality for a month. The melody, song structure, and chanting are kind of hypnotic in a way? Also very happy to hear Wonyoung using her lower register after years of hearing her force cute high notes in IZ*ONE.

7. Generation - Acid Angel from Asia.SSS

Although I really dislike this group’s concept (NFTs lol) I was hooked on first listen. I think this sound is very influenced by NewJeans and LE SSERAFIM, and maybe some IVE. The whole groovy, effortlessly cooler than you teenage girls concept but not in a bratty or trashy badass image way. It’s very refreshing and I’m pretty excited about this trend in 5th gen Kpop 🥹

As for the song structure itself, it could use some variety. It’s very much the same verse -> la la la hook + chorus, repeat for just shy of three minutes. Could it use a knockout bridge and climax to really elevate the song, besides the one high note before the last chorus? Yeah. Is the song pretty flat besides the earworm parts? Yeah. But I’m plenty happy with it already.

8. Broken - Cherry Bullet

THEE PERFECT BUBBLEGUM POP SONG!!!! Honestly Chebul has been knocking it out of the park with solid sweet/bubblegum pop songs. Too bad they’re flops and only get EPs once a year 🥲 I love everything about Broken’s melody and chorus. If I could actually pronounce Korean I would love to sing this at karaoke. WECHYEO BOLLAE IJENEUN BRO BRO BROKEN BRO BRO BROKEN!!!!!!!

Love in Space is also great but I’m still not super into the speedy verse delivery. Everything else about that song is great though (-person who is a slut for 80s inspired music).

9. Last Sequence - WJSN

If I’m gonna be honest I do think this song is stronger than Done, and I feel kind of like I’m cheating by putting two songs from the same album in my top 10, but… WOW this song!!!!! Solid, confident, powerful dance track all the way through. Also something I personally really like, the little laugh right before the second chorus does things to me…

10. Blind Letter - fromis_9

fromis always delivers with their B-sides and Blind Letter is no different. The chorus just feels SO lush, I was taken by surprise on my first listen. I just really enjoy this one :’^) Also it doesn’t have any rap, and it doesn’t need any.

11. INVU - Taeyeon

God I can’t believe this song came out in 2022. It feels like a December 2021 song. Anyways. Although INVU isn’t usually the kind of sound I go for in my music, I’m utterly captivated by the soundscape in it… While it’s not catchy per se, it’s a mix of haunting, mysterious, and ethereal. The mixing/production is fantastic too. I was really impressed by it when it came out and I find it’s had lasting power.

12. Rewind - fromis_9

UGH yes this song. So groovy and cool. Addictive head-bopping, pervasive beat. And Jiwon’s (or is it Hayoung...help) high note at the climax is delicious.

13. Love You Like - VIVIZ

I love how sweet this song sounds :’) Eunha’s soft voice really complements the first chorus. I’m really glad this came up on my Weekly Discover because it’s right up my alley…The key change in the last chorus is a very nice touch too. Does it reinvent anything? No, but it’s sweet, pleasant, and doesn’t overstay its welcome.

14. Hush Hush - fromis_9

Haha wow lots of fromis B-sides here… this song is a lot of fun, it has a playful, whimsical air to it, and it reminds me of that same energy in a lot of older fromis songs. Like it’s not just catchy but it has some identity to it… Although I do have to admit this song and Cheese from from our Memento Box sound very similar LOL.

15. The Great Mermaid - LE SSERAFIM

Of all the songs on FEARLESS The Great Mermaid left the biggest impact on me!! From the gurgling synths in the beginning to the processed vocal effect and futuristic synths, everything about it is striking. I particularly love how the prechorus ramps up the vocal distortion, I think it’s actually my favorite part of the song. It just sounds so cool…the textures are just so good…

16. Hai Cheng - THE8

Yes I know technically this song is not Kpop… but it’s Minghao who is part of Seventeen sooooooo……. And incidentally I’m really taken with Hai Cheng! It’s such a romantic song. I love that the lyrics speak of seeking someone or something, but in a vague enough way that it doesn’t require a specific object of affection. While the MV depicts a woman, probably a current or past lover, I can see it talking about the idea of a lover too. The yearning for someone who you want to love, cherish, and protect, even if you don’t know who it is yet. Musically it’s a very wistful and sentimental song… it’s very comforting. Very Minghao.

17. Get Out - CNEMA

Yaaaas I love nugu rookie groups... Honestly speaking this song was good/fine until I heard that postchorus gravelly, raw vocal delivery. I was really wowed by it–I think I actually opened my mouth when I heard it, you just don’t hear that in mainstream Kpop. It adds so much more depth and emotion to the song and makes it really special! The rest of the song is solid.

18. Crazy Love - Jeon Woong

2022 was an incredibly disappointing year for AB6IX for me, but this song has special meaning to me. While it’s not really phenomenal in any way, it makes me emotional listening to it because I had it on repeat the day my dog died. So I have very vivid memories of heaving my chest and sobbing my eyes out with this playing in the background :’) It reminds me of my childhood dog and all the love I have for him… even if this song lyrically is about a romantic lover.

I don’t have to rank songs exclusively according to how good they are musically, sometimes it’s just the emotions they’re capable of evoking, y’know?

19. Catch the Stars - woo!ah!

THIS SONG IS SOOOO GOOD it’s infectiously catchy and energetic. It’s so refreshing to listen to since this gg sound isn’t as common now…I love the chugging beat/rhythm in the chorus.

20. Don’t Let Me Know - SHAUN

It’s been a while since a SHAUN song has hooked me but this is the one…!! It’s a pretty basic song but it’s addictive and I like it, and that’s all that matters.

21. Paper Plane - Girls’ Generation

While I admit Forever One is the more memorable and emotional song on this album, I like Paper Plane a little more. It makes me feel like I’m on a relaxing, peaceful journey. The chorus mixing is really well done, I love the vocal blend/layering.

22. WithOrWithOut - YENA

THEE QUINTESSENTIAL 2000’S POP PUNK SOUND!!!! Yena captures and harnesses it sooooo perfectly. I feel transported to the mid 2000s listening to this. Yena’s voice is light and a little airy generally, but I love how she sings here, it still packs a punch. She really fits the 00’s pop rock genre.

23. DM - fromis_9

My fromis girlies delivering another solid retro-inspired bop! Although, even though everything in DM checks off what I like in a song, something about it just feels…lacking compared to some of the other songs I ranked higher. I don’t feel drawn to it compared to their past retro title tracks? Still, this song is potent, the chorus is so good. And it is NOT easy to sing, I have tried. I truly admire Jiwon/Hayoung in this song… speaking of Hayoung THE WHISTLE NOTES AT THE END ARE INSANE??? You don’t hear that in most Kpop songs. Hayoung iconic!

24. Ruby - WOOZI

If you ignore Hai Cheng this is the best Seventeen song put out this year… LOL. There’s so much character and flourish in Ruby, from the grand-sounding orchestral intro to the rocking energy of the rest of the song. I do wish it was longer, and I have some thoughts about Shannon just saying things in the bridge, but this song is solid. And Woozi says shit two times.

25. Chiquita - Rocket Punch

Wah they really perfected the retro sound here 🥹 The chorus packs such a punch. This is probably my favorite title from them after Bouncy, but Bouncy is hard to beat.

26. Love Me Out Loud - Chung Ha

This song is so cathartic… love the build up to the chorus, and the chorus payoff is soooo good. The climax of this song is 👩‍🍳💋 This is the Chung Ha I love!!!!! Not Bicycle 😷 Sparkling is also great, but I cut it from this list because my list is getting too long and I’m getting tired lol

27. AFTER LIKE - IVE

I enjoy After Like; the song on its own is great but at times I do feel like the iconic sample they used post-chorus overshadows other parts of the song.... The chorus kind of pales when placed right before it… HOWEVER I have warmed up to this song over time and really, it’s solid, I’ve found myself singing the chorus at times, what more can I ask for. And the rap break is really good!!!

28. ‘bout you - SEVENTEEN

So like. The funny thing about this song being here is that I didn’t even pay attention to it when I heard the highlight medley for Face the Sun. I was excited for Shadow and Don Quixote but Shadow surprisingly didn’t click with me (I still like it though), and the latter ended up boring/a disappointment… Meanwhile I ended up playing ‘bout you way more because it feels most like essential Seventeen LOL. Like I hear it and I’m like, YES, THIS IS SEVENTEEN!!!!!

29. Runaway - ONF

Aaaaah this song is so groovy. The instrumental that kicks in during the chorus is great. Excited for ONF to come back from the military this year…

30. Annoyed - BAE173

Okay not going to lie part of me wonders if I like this song so much because it’s a good song, or simply because it’s so 2nd gen Kpop and sounds straight from 2010… regardless, great song!!! The piano is soooo reminiscent of late 2000s/early 10’s rnb and I miss that sound a lot.

31. The Game - PENTAGON

Dude. This song. What the fuck. It starts off with operatic singing, has flourishes of opera thrown in throughout the song, features strings, manages to sound baroque yet funky, and has evil laughter from Wooseok. I’m blown away by this song. Unironically it is epic. It’s a travesty that this wasn’t picked for the title song or a promotional sidetrack. There’s sooo much more personality to this experimental track compared to Feelin’ Like lol

32. Danny - LEE CHAE YEON

Breezy 80s synths + Chaeyeon’s gentle, sweet voice = 💖💖💖 Loved this one on first listen. I also liked Same But Different quite a lot, but Danny’s more up my avenue lol, I’m predictable.

33. Underwater - KWON EUN BI

Even though Glitch was stylistically more distinct and refined, I liked Underwater more. Maybe it has to do with the tropical house… since I love tropical house… I really do feel like Eunbi’s cool voice fits these “colder”, mature stylish concepts though, like Door was fine but she really shined this year.

34. YOUNG LUV - STAYC

Slayc girls still killing it, though 2022 felt weaker for them than 2021… Still, I really enjoyed Young Luv. The nostalgic guitar in the intro really sets the tone for the rest of the song, and the emotional singing, vocal layering are fantastic.

35. Last Dance - YOUHA

Woooow Youha’s hypnotic and lush voice is back again baby!!! I love how mysterious and sensual this song sounds, her voice is perfect for it. I love the instrumental flourishes during the pre-chorus, they really add to the atmosphere.

36. DANCE ON - ALICE

Another bright poppy catchy gg song!! This song is so refreshing!!!! Even though it came out in autumn it feels so summery…

37. Let Me Drown - HyunJun Hur

L o l okay so let me preface this by saying I don’t actually think this song is that good. It’s very one-note and sounds like some sad SoundCloud rapper/singer’s music, however…I like it and looped it a lot throughout 2022 lol… This was a huge step up from VO!D which was even more repetitive, trappy, and boring. Let Me Drown’s atmosphere and moodiness are done well and enjoyable.

38. Who Am I - ROZY

I’m kinda pissed that I like this song this much to include it on this list, because it’s sung by a “virtual influencer” -___- stupid fucking idea/concept but I genuinely like the song and the vocals, if only I knew who the actual singer is…

39. Darl+ing - SEVENTEEN

This song………. Personally I don’t think it’s that good objectively but ugh. I still like it a lot and it was my 6th most streamed song in 2022 T__T So… It’s sweet and cute! It’s catchy! Whatever!!!!

Also I’ll just plug Circles here because while I didn’t add it to this list, it makes me feel things…Damn you Woozi… I felt disconnected from SVT’s 2022 releases by and large but this song got me…

While I didn’t like be free as much as because, I can’t deny how funky and groovy this song is. It’s good man

41. Another Life - KEY

Best song on the album. Love the synths. Futuristic-sounding synthwave like this IS Key’s sound. It’s hard to beat Bad Love (I don’t know why I didn’t include it in my roundup last year…) but Another Life feels like a sibling or cousin to Bad Love.

42. Never Stop Me - (G)I-DLE

I liked this track way more than Tomboy, I think Never Stop Me really captures the 2000s pop punk/rock sound and is catchier LOL.

43. #Self_Trip - MINSEO

I loooove Minseo’s vocals. I’d describe this song as like… captivating? While I’m actually not that into the melody, her vocals are really what shines here.
