Reasons why my parents house may have a poltergeist, but they get increasingly weird.
My mother (a Principle at the time these happened ) used to go to sleep with the lights on by accident and would wake up with them off. You may be asking where my father is, he was deployed at the time. So strange thing number 1
It's a semi old house like 1980s but the weird thing is no one owned it for more than 10 years, my parents are set to move out the year after next which and I kid you not is ten years of living in this house.
The lights flicker all the time. We have had a few electricians come check it out, and all of them have said nothing seems wrong.
There is a barried pool in the back yard
Doors sometimes swing open, but only doors to the outside. There is three of them two back doors and a front.
Sometimes picture frames just Crack, like the glass will just be cracked Sometimes especially in my older brothers old hallway.
All of us (5) have had close to near death experiences in the neighborhood/house. My dad had liver failure randomly one day like full on yellow eyes, my mom fell through the roof, my older brother electrocuted himself plugging in a cord the ps4, my sister had a dead tree fall on her part of the roof, I was on tge boat in our backyard (using it as a jungle gym) when I was around 10 ish and I remember standing on the front of it and got pushed off of it and face planted, i got a minor concussion. (My siblings and parents were all inside)
A random patch off grass in the front yard never grows, like I was the one that mowed the lawn and I kid you not it never grew.
The first year of living here the alarm system would just randomly in the middle of the night go off , then just stop once everyone was out of their rooms.
I once opened the cup cupboard and five cups flew out of it ( not like just fell, they went across the kitchen ) and didn't break. All of them were glass.
Sometimes decorations we have put in the attic just would disappear. Like full on boxes just never found.
Both cats we have had at the house died mysteriously. The first one was like 10 and it was the first year we lived here and she just straight up disappeared one day. the second just died one day, we had gone on a trip and had a friend (very well trusted and dog sits for us all the time) cat sit and he said that the cat always came and ate his food , then when we got back he was dead under my sisters bed.
And most recently, and most concerning was today. Me, my dad, and my mom went out to look at Christmas lights, as one does and came home and s shelf in my brother's closet room just fell. It was an old shelf so who cares, right? Yeah, atleast until my dad had walking semi into it to grab the books and saw a elf on the shelf staring at him. Now you may be asking why does that matter? Almost every family has a elf on the shelf . Yes we do have one, actually we have two the only two we have ever had . Now this random elf on the shelf gives uncanny valley vibes but for elves.Right when my mom walked into the room and me and dad were telling the story the lights flickered.
So yeah, freaky

[Review] Rime (PS4)
Tumblr media
Another Ico-like adventure.
Another Ico-esque title on my backlog is this 2017 game by Spanish studio Tequila Works. They have had success with a variety of genres and tones, but in this case the Mediterranean-inspired setting and vibrant colour palette give this game a nice flavour. Otherwise it's a solid platform-puzzling adventure with a decent story, even if there's something of a double-take at the end.
I'll deal with the story first since it involves a bit of a content warning (child death) in addition to a spoiler warning. You see, you think you're adventuring around a mysterious island as a "ye olde times" lost princeling, exploring ruins, fending off shadow creatures, befriending fox spirits and ancient robots, and ascending a monolithic tower... until an epilogue reveals that it was all some kind of fantasy of a modern grieving father. This wholesale reframing is interesting structurally, and I liked the idea that each chapter corresponded tonally with Kübler-Ross's stages of grief, but with how late and sudden this element is introduced and how confronting the subject matter, it came as something of an unpleasant shock for me personally.
Tumblr media
There are collectibles to find in hidden dead-ends or secret coves that tie into the fictional backstory of the prince, but I don't think anything really hints at the real surprise. So for most of the runtime you're just having a gentle fantasy adventure. The shadow creatures are creepy but don't pose much of a threat, and chapter 2 has a creepy reptilian bird monster that you have to hide from, but otherwise it's a nice conflict-light time.
Each chapter runs through a few puzzle ideas: shifting light and shadow, perspective, moving orbs around, things like this. The child (who I think is named as Enu in the credits) can clamber around, move boxes and such, but their main method of interaction is a quick shout which can activate magic statues as well as inflame braziers and oddly break pots (there are trophies for doing these a certain number of times). The puzzles are rarely challenging but can be decently clever and the game keeps up the variety through its five-odd hour runtime.
Tumblr media
I don't have much more to say about Rime but I did enjoy my time with it quite a bit. It's well-made, the environments and atmosphere are nice... it was a good chill-out game. It's clearly trying hard to say something with its story which I respect, even if it didn't quite land with me at the time. But damn if I didn't love shouting at every wall-mounted torch in a hallway on my way to the next bit.

The frustrating thing about getting a PS3 in the year of our lord 2025 is that I'm pretty sure all the second-hand game shops that sold PS3 games when I was a kid no longer exist, and even other shops that did it as a side-thing (e.g phone repair places) mostly don't now. Also if they do exist they probably have, like, PS4 or even PS5 games now.
Like what. Am I supposed to go to the nearest CEX to look for random PS3 games I've never heard of? Do you know how far away that is??? The answer is not particularly, but it's still annoying to go all that way just to find that they only have games that people actually remember.
"Oh just go online and find lists of obscure PS3 games and then order them off the internet" but that removes the mystery! I want to pick up a random game with Man With Gun Walking Towards You™-flavour boxart, and only have the blurb and screenshots on the back of the box to go off in terms of what the genre and story is. Not to mention that I don't care if some listicle author or someone who wrote a review on whatever online shopping platform I get the game from thinks it's an underrated classic or trash, I'm playing it so I can form my own opinion on the game's own terms! You know, the fun way of deciding whether or not a game is good, when you don't have someone else's opinion of the game or an "x-out-of-5-star score bouncing around in your brain.
"Why not emulate it or get it off the Playstation Store" because A. I'd have to know the game exists in order to do that and B. because I'd rather have a physical disk in a physical box that I can physically open and physically insert into my physical console's physical slot. Otherwise what's even the point of even having the console in the first place.

Dave The Diver Review Cons: - Minimal graphics settings. - Cannot rebind controls. - The aiming of the gun takes a bit of getting used to as it all works on a semi-circle arc aim. - Takes a bit of getting used to the flow of the game especially diving as you have limitations from depth to air management. - The game's color palette can hinder you in terms of seeing what is on your screen and what is in the fore/background and being able to see hazards/fish. - A slow starter as you wait for apps to unlock and upgrades to start rolling in. Much as I've always loved games I'm starting to wonder as things collect dust; do I really need a copy of cubivore? Surely someone else would be happier with it and I'd be happier with some cash.
I'm mostly on this line of thought cause I'm dead broke and want to get into photography but its SO expensive. Maybe I can at least get a decent camera if I sell most of my games? I dont really know how to go about doing that though... Yard sale? Ebay? Fb marketplace? Do people still use kijiji? Idk.
Maybe I'll just start by going through and making a list of everything I'm willing to part with

Hey how about some cute welcome home headcanons of Wally and co. With a human s/o who found and brought them to their house and they see their s/o playing on video games (they have a ds lite, a 3ds, a ps3, a ps4, a Wii and a Switch and a newly brought gamer laptop with some games installed) and get curious about it and want to try too and their s/o teaches them?
YIPPEE!!! Game time!
Wally Darling and Co. with a Human Reader who plays Videogames:
TW: Brief Mention of Murder (in the context of videogame violence/mystery games)
🎮 They all would be so excited to try to play videogames. They have never seen anything like them before. Well, they have seen the very early videogames, but the ones you have are so much more... MORE!
🎮 So, they all begin asking you random questions about the games you play. Who is that guy? What's a Mario? Who's MegaMan? Then, the most important question of all: how do you play?
🎮 This begins the task of teaching all of these puppets how to play various videogames, all on different consoles. It can get difficult due to their hands being different from one another. Poppy has wings and feathers, Barnaby has large paws, and Howdy has so many hands he can't decide which ones he should use to hold the remote or DS.
🎮 However, once you teach everyone how to play whatever game it is, it gets pretty fun! Especially party games or competitive ones. Watching a group of puppets get overly invested in a game of Mario Kart, no matter which game in the series, is enjoyable to watch. To your surprise, Wally seems to be the most competitive out of the group, causing you to have to teach him the value in letting others win from time to time and how bragging can hurt people's feelings. He takes that lesson to heart, though, going on to be more calm while playing.
🎮 Frank usually sticks to his own games, enjoying puzzle games, like Tetris or Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (he claims that these two games are COMPLETELY different due to the plot in Dr. Robotnik's). He is really good at them, too! Sometimes the others will watch him play it in awe, mesmerized by the pretty colors and music.
🎮 The final big surprise to you is how much Eddie loves mystery games. He can play any game based off of Sherlock Holmes or any other mystery novel for hours. He might not get exactly what is going on, especially in games that involve violent crimes like murder, but he gets the basic concept of "find the bad guy" and using clues to do so.
🎮 Most of the others stick to multiplayer, casual party games or racing games. Poppy does love baking games, though, including flash games revolving around baking. You kind of expected this, however, due to her preexisting love for baking. Sally likes any game with flashy style and drama. Barnaby likes to play Fibbage from time to time, of course, keeping the jokes clean (mostly because none of the puppets entirely understand or are aware of adult topics and humor being... Well... From a children's show). Sally likes Hello Kitty games because of the adorable aesthetic, and Howdy likes games about... managing things? He keeps finding these oddly specific games about running stores and such. Like, a VERY specific genre of tycoon games.
🎮 Home, whose puppet you found seems to be the size of a small cardboard box, can't really play games, but it seems to like to watch you play games. It shows extra happiness when you play home care/restoration/design games like House Flipper. It also enjoys watching you play The Sims, too, which you have made a household just for the Welcome Home crew.
🎮 Sometimes, due to little accidents, things break. Since controllers are designed with human hands in mind, felt or feathery puppet hands can drop things by accident. Over time, it becomes a little rule that they should try to keep their hands as close to the floor or whatever surface is closest to their hands as possible. That way, if they drop the controller, it will have less of a chance of breaking.
🎮 They probably ask you numerous questions about subjects discussed in the games they play. They can range from "why does the dog in Nintendogs act so different from Barnaby?" to "what is murder?" Needless to say, depending on the topic, you get some very strange whiplash due to puppets asking about dark, disturbing topics. You try your best to explain, though, because you know if you don't, they'll try to figure it out on their own. Might as well be you so they don't get any misinformation or stumble upon something horrific.

Quiet as a Cat, Sneaky as a Spider🕷 | Spider-Man No Way Home MASTERLIST
Contains spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairings: Tobey!Spider-Man x female!Reader /Black Cat (Romantic) , Andrew!Spider-Man (Platonic/flirtatious), Tom!Spider-Man (Platonic), Michele Jones-Watson (Platonic), Ned Leeds (Platonic). Dr. Otto Octavious (Platonic/Flirtatious).
Premise: Having been pulled into another universe where an alternate version of her once on-again/off-again lover and occasional nemesis/ally exists, Y/N L/N finds herself having to suit up again as her long retried anti-hero persona in order to help three SpiderMen face off against some familiar faces causing trouble in New York City.
Content Warnings: Fluff, Angst, spoilers for SMNWH, profanity, violence, implications of sex through innuendoes, flirtatious banter, references to past SA trauma, mentions of death. Slight nsfw in p.5
Black Cat theme from the Spider-Man PS4 game | original black cat comic suit | NWH suit (my interpretation) | My Pinterest Board | Spotify playlist
Note: For this series, it will be told in third person POV and although it is a reader insert it will be as though the reader is a version of Felicia Hardy/Black Cat from Tobey’s universe. I’ll also be taking inspiration from her in the Spider-Man game as well as her comic persona. Think of it like she is Tobey!Peter love interest instead of Mary Jane (although Mary Jane still plays her same role from Spider-Man because Peter doesn’t know Y/N is black cat till the events of Spider-Man 2). I plan to write both a prequel series and possibly a post NWH series so let me know if you’d like to be tagged in future works.
I do not own any characters from Marvel Comics, Marvel Studios and all affiliated with them. All rights belong to the owners and this is just fan-fiction for fans pleasure. This series contains MAJOR spoilers for Spider-Man No Way Home, so if you have not seen it then please do not read this yet.
Series Chapter List (Completed 💌):
Quiet As A Cat: On the hunt for multiversal beings that were pulled into his universe after a botched spell gone wrong, young Peter Parker falls into a game of cat & mouse when a woman in black with a grappling hook manages to escape his every move.
The Spiders Chit-Chat: While crafting the cures for the five villains, the three Peters get to talking which leads to the youngest of the bunch learning the identity of the mystery woman, and the oldest discovering why he hadn’t heard from a certain someone all day.
Sneaky As A Spider: The three Peters come face-to-face with the master escape artist donned in a new suit, who happens to have a very personal connection with the older Spider-Man in their group.

Every game I played & beat in 2022 and my thoughts / opinions.
Ai: The Somnium Files
While released a few years ago, I finally got round to playing it due to NirvanA Initiative being released and an acquaintance of mine adores these games. I'm a sucker for mystery based games, and the whole mental fuckery mixed with the somnium gameplay and eccentric characters just ticked all of the boxes for me. While graphicly it's nothing spectacular, I didn't really care because everything else kept me hooked and I'm very much cemented in the 'this is a highly underrated game' camp

Ai: The Somnium Files - NirvanA Initiative
This was not a sequal I was expecting to get, considering how the original game flew under the radar. Guess the creators were like, fuck financial success we want to make what we want - and I appreciate that. While I don't think the mystery is as tight as the first game, NirvanA Initiative wacked mental fuckery up 10 folds. I loved all the new characters; the gameplay tweaks and new additions made it even more enjoyable to play than its predecessor.

Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp
This game only can exist and sell because us Danganronpa fans are starved for content following the five year dry spell since V3 release. It's basicly a repackaged version of the mini game you unlock when you beat the main game. Was it nice returning to my DR2 children and seeing all the new interactions? Yes. Did I cry over my best girl Mukuro getting some validation and recognition? Yes. Would I recommend? Absolutely not.

Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn & Heavensward
This year was the year I finally fell into the rabbit hole that was FFXIV. As an avid Final Fantasy fan, I tried playing a few years back but I didn't bite. I then tried again after my girlfriend switch servers out of solidarity and I got hooked. I found a great group of people to play & bard with and began to fall in love with the world and story. Unfortunately, I've not made a lot of progress further then part way through the post Heavensward updates because my completionist nature means I refuse to move onto the next expansion before I've done all of the available content & side quests. It's an on running joke about I will never get to Endwalker.

The Great Ace Attorny Chronicles
Last year I began to properly get into the Ace Attorny franchise. I played through Phoenix Wright Trilogy, and Apollo Justice on mobile & the first half of Duel Destinies (plz Capcom port them to console). I brought The Great Ace Attorny on sale and over the course of a few months played through all episodes. It took some time because heavy visual novel games takes a particular mindset as it required a lot of reading and I'm permanently tired. I loved the visual style and setting (Steam Punk Victorian London is a weak spot of mine - see Code Realize). I loved all the characters, from the main cast to the individual chapter characters. I didn't know all of the twists that were coming even if some I accidently spoiled some for myself. Just a pleasant roller coaster and places the Ace Attorney as one of my favourite video game franchises.

Horizon Forbidden West
Horizon Zero Dawn was one of my favourite PS4 Games and one of the only western open world games I actually care for. For the sequal, I enjoyed the gameplay lots and explored every nook of the map. Unfortunately the story wasn't as engaging as the first, mainly because Aloy didn't develop and grow like she did in ZD. I loved the supporting cast a lot, particularly Beta, Kotallo and Alva. The gameplay will keep my coming back, though I hope they don't drag the story out until its just becomes empty.

Jump King
Did I play this because many content creators did? Yes. Did I reach the top? No. I still had a blast chilling for a month or so playing this as a timekiller and seeing my progress and improvement.

Life is Strange: True Colors
Think this was released in 2021 but I only got round to playing it in January. The first Life is Strange and Before the Storm had a very big impact on me, but I never played LiS 2. When True Colors was announced as a full game and not being released in parts, well I was intrigued. Playing it was like slipping into a cosy jumper you long forgot about the back of the closet. The gameplay and corniness was familiar but welcoming. The quality improvements in the graphics and controls was nice and made the whole experience better. I don't think I enjoyed the story and characters as I did the first game & prequel, but I also am happy to see this franchise that I have a soft spot for evolve and try somthing new.

Minoria
I brought this indie souls like on my switch for under £5 in a sale. I had been missing a game I could just pick up and play for half an hour or so. Its a 2D souls like and while there isn't to much to the story, the setting was enough to grab me in and I had fun exploring the map; I never got to frustrated with dying because 9/10 it was because of my own stupidity. For somthing I brought on a whim, I had fun.
Hours Played: 10
Pokemon Legends: Arceus
This game I played in two halves. As a longtime pokemon fan I brought it on release and I put a good number of hours just running around catching pokemon and trying to fill the pokedex. I actually didn't progress the story because my completionist nature made me want to complete the pokedex in each area before I moved on to the next one. I eventually just sorta fell out of playing, having not even made it half way through the game. Then during the peak of the UK heatwave in the summer I was hospitalised with acute pancreatis and had to have emergency surgery to prevent me from dying. When I returned home it was to hot for me to stay in my room so I was downstairs a lot with only my switch and - since I had no money at the time - I picked up Arceus again and not only beat the story but also 100% the Pokedex, which I had never done before in a Pokemon game. It was a fun experiment by Game Freak and I hope we get another, expanded version of this game style in the future.
Hours played: 100+
Resident Evil Village: Shadows of Rose DLC
Now, I'm not a big RE fan - outside of the RE 2 Remake, Village was the only real RE game I had played (I had watched let's plays of RE7). For the most part I had a lot of fun with Village so when Halloween rolled around and I had no plans, I brought the DLC Shadows of Rose for some horror fun. And again, like with the first game, I had a lot of fun. Exploring the Castle again was a lot of fun, and they somehow made the Doll House even scarier like jfc. I liked Rose a lot and I cried at the stories resolution. A very enjoyable evenings entertainment.
Hours played: 3-4
Spiritfarer
Another game that came out a few years ago and I am only now just getting around to playing. It had been on my radar & wish list for a while and I finally picked it up during the time I underweather but not yet diagnosed with pancreatis and hospitalised. This was by far my favourite game I've played this year and the one I think back to constantly. The visuals are gentle yet stylised; the soundtrack soothing and the gameplay and story to well intertwined together. It was just such a chill game to play - I loved building my ship and recognising the whole thing every time I constructed a new building. I loved all the characters and their stories, and each one impacted me in different ways and I would get genuinely sad whenever I had to let someone move on. It one of those games I wish I could erase my memory of and replay blind all over again.
Hours played: 45+
WILL: A Wonderful World
An interesting little visual novel I brought during a sale. The premise is you have to move around pieces of the characters situation / dialog to change the outcome and progress. Some of the stories were kinda wierd and one that even kinda disgusted me, but the core gameplay was interesting enough that I played through to the end. It isn't a particularly long story, but I enjoy Visual Novel that add elements in so you aren't just clicking the continue dialog button.
Hours played: 10 hours
Honourable shoutouts to games I've started but not yet finished.
Persona 5: Royal
Pokemon Violet
Ruined King: A League of Legends Story

Neo: The World Ends With You
I'm invested in the original game and its characters, I'm invested in this game and its characters. I've had a lot of time for the original game to marinate and I can say that I enjoy pretty much every character and their arc and while I don't exactly feel the same with this one, that's not disappointing to me and this was my most anticipated game of 2021 so I mean that. This is a sequel, I expected as much and it didn't let me down, it's even better than I thought.
This is a NONSPOILER review because I think it's best experienced by actually experiencing it so I'll keep a lot of character, story, and even gameplay details out other than how the very VERY beginning of the game starts out with Rindo and Fret.
Tumblr media
Let me give credit where credit is due, Rindo is voiced by Paul Castro Jr. who is a new voice actor and I was honestly impressed by his voice more than anyone else in the game, I love his voice and while Rindo has some pretty big shoes to fill as the main, I think he does it. Rindo seems to act pretty accordingly to the situation he's put in. He's not as edgy as Neku but he has enough push to him to where he would be considered the "negative" of the group but I would rather call it "rational" because he brings up some valid points, stuff that I myself was asking. Putting yourself in his shoes, that seems pretty accurate.
Fret on the other hand is a bit of the opposite, an optimist if you will. He's not really a "bad" character, just in comparison to the others, he's not my favorite. I think that there needs to be someone in his position who tries to uplift the team, but he's just a little annoying about it sometimes. Also get ready to hear "Galaxy Brain, ACTIVATE!!" literally hundreds of times, as much as he talks, you'd think he'd add more variety.
IMPROVEMENTS:
I'm not going to complain about certain gameplay elements or limitations that carried over from the last game except one. The camera. It's fixed to where you have no control over it in the city areas and therefore can't get a proper look at everything, whether that works in its favor, I'm not sure because you get used to it but it's just a small peeve you start out with.
Tumblr media
The combat is pretty loyal to the first game which is surprising. I personally didn't like the original gameplay because it was so limited on the DS, a lot of room for error, but having it on console expands the system and lets you use buttons rather than mashing a touch screen, improving on almost, if not all, gameplay fronts. However, because it's based on a game from 2007, the system may seem a little outdated to some, it's really up to you, it made a fan out of me, making it more fun.
I played the original in bites, not because of lack of enjoyment but because I felt like it was a game I could only get into for so long at a time but with this game it's the complete opposite. Maybe it was the DS hardware that hampered the original but I say it's a decent success on this game's part. I also felt that Persona 5 seemed a bit formulaic in its story context and gameplay layout with each castle but this game, while having patterns, it changes before you get the chance to really catch on. I could predict P5 but I couldn't predict this, each day was a mystery, I knew you'd fight people but I didn't always know who or when which is crazy considering that P5 had all the choices!
A small improvement that I'll suggest for combat is having short rhythm based moves or even QTEs, like how in the original Shiki had the directional pad moves which were annoying but still varied from the rest of the gameplay. There are definitely new things that you can do, but there are a few aspects worth complaining about. You can unlock certain abilities and once you enable them, you can't disable them. The only one that it personally applies with is the ability to enable individual health bars for enemies, rather than an overall one. Which sounds good but-
Tumblr media
I personally don't like that it's always floating above their heads, if it was on the side screen, that'd be one thing but constantly above their heads? No deal. I actually had to go back and load up an old save to get rid of it. But with unlocking certain abilities comes with quality of life aspects so if you're not in love with the gameplay at first, give it a little bit because you might be able to unlock whatever piece you're missing.
There's also "soundsurfing" that adds to your groove meter that you can use when running around and it said that you press (in my case "X" on PS4) to the beat of the song which is a cool concept but it really isn't clear how to use it because I try matching the beat and I get nothing and have more success just button mashing. The groove meter can drop when it's not supposed to, like when you literally can't attack during the buffering of a special or switching between battles in a chain (The "Get Ready" screen) And if you're in a proper boss battle, you HAVE to fight, it's like a trainer battle in Pokémon which is especially annoying when you accidentally press "retry". It has no reason to be there when I already know that I'm not prepared for the boss and can't back out.
Tumblr media
Do the trailers spoil it?
Originally, I only saw the first and or second trailer and knew I wanted it so there was no reason to see any more but it was kind of overwhelming with all the characters they were showing off in just a single trailer. I don't think they needed to go that far but I understand why they did. I understand why they showed a lot of things that they did but I think it's a bit easier to SWALLOW when it's introduced in-game. I even found myself doing all the side-quests and being engaged in the side-stuff in-game. But I knew about people pointing out spoilers so after I finished it, I went back and looked at the other trailers and OH BOY. The final trailer shows some stuff and I'm SO glad I didn't watch it. They straight up show some out of context death scenes as well as different alliances and betrayals, not to mention parts of the freaking ending. The launch trailer is no better, it's just like that trailer but cut down. You may not have context but you can draw some hefty conclusions and that alone makes me question, why? I'm not sure if there are many reveals that they DIDN'T tease, it's like they went out of their way to hit every single one. Whether it's Square or Nintendo, they need to figure out how to cut a trailer, heck, hire me, I at least have the editing skills and know what's interesting enough to show and what's too spoilery not to show, come on!
Is it newcomer friendly?
I heard a lot of things like "it drops you in without mercy so pay very close attention" (in terms of story, that is) so only people who played the original game will be able to get it. But I beg to differ, I think it does a pretty good job of filling you in while putting you in the shoes of a new player (both in the game and out) AND keeping the mystery of whatever happened since the last game coming in small pieces. Most of the dialogue text boxes are voice acted so it's not really a slog to read. To prove my point further, the premise starts out very similar so it should be easy to clue in what exactly happened in the last game. Of course you're going to get more enjoyment out of it if you played the original but I don't think you'd be totally lost if you started with this one and played to right before the ending because then it kinda has to do stuff without preface, so you're going to be confused by much of the emotional weight that it carries. But it still gives you plenty of time to catch up on the original, whether through the game, videos, or lore, this game has you ask the questions, so fill in the blank. It has a nice length to it so you'll have until the ending to figure it out. Also, Final Remix teased stuff that this game makes clarity on but I wouldn't call FR mandatory. (Except maybe no numbers on the hand? Maybe even I missed something there.)

Dead by Daylight (2021?)
Multiplayer dead teenager simulator Dead By Daylight has previously added killers like Pyramid Head from Silent Hill 2, the Ghostface Killer from Scream, Nemesis from Resident Evil 3, the Demogorgon from Stranger Things, and, oh yeah, Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger. It's a broad selection.
Hints about who the next killer would be included audio files posted to Discord that revealed the word HELL via spectrogram, and letters posted to Twitter that spelled out RAISE. Then came a teaser video showing a fuzzy VHS recording of a red flower blossoming (as seen when the Cenobites are summoned in Hellraiser) and the number 1987, the year Hellraiser was released.
So expect Pinhead, the S&M Hell Priest from the Clive Barker movie and its many sequels, to be Dead By Daylight's next killer. He has a thing for hooks, which suits the game, though he and the other Cenobites only target people who open their mysterious puzzle boxes in the movies, rather than any kid who happens to enrol for the wrong summer camp. But then Pyramid Head doesn't really make sense outside his mythos either, and the deep lore of Dead By Daylight has the events of the game taking place in an Omniverse that apparently combines alternate realities, so let's just agree to shrug and roll with it.
Some fans in the comments and on Reddit were convinced the next killer would be a character from Five Nights at Freddy's, but the clues all pretty consistently point to Hellraiser. I mean, someone even looked up the filename of the teaser on Dead By Daylight's Chinese channel and found the word Hellraiser in it. The new killer will be added to Dead By Daylight in Chapter 21.

The rumors were true: The iconic horror villain Pinhead from the Hellraiser series is coming to Dead by Daylight. Pinhead will be released for the game in September.
Dead by Daylight creative director Dave Richard said, "Not only is he highly charismatic, but he also embraces deeply disturbing horror themes, so our fans have been requesting him for a long time. Bringing Pinhead into the Fog is a way for us to give fans something they want, while cementing our reputation as the Hall of Fame of Horror."
Pinhead will come to Dead by Daylight using a "Lament Configuration" to leave his dimension and travel to the game. "What comes next is sweet suffering that will spill over the realm," reads a line from the Pinhead description.
The Hellraiser Chapter for Dead by Daylight will launch at some point in September everywhere you can play the game: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Stadia, and Nintendo Switch. Pinhead is also coming to the mobile edition of Dead by Daylight, but not until later in the year.
PC players can test out the Hellraiser Chapter through the Dead by Daylight Player Test Build on Steam, beginning August 17 at 11 AM ET. Players may encounter bugs and other issues in this early version of the game.
