I like to think that pre-Oracle Rachel painted scenes from both wars, but she and Percy have no idea until they go back and reflect.

Percy notices, cause Rachel shows him her art, but he just rights it off as weird, even tho something doesn’t feel right.

Like, that’s DEFINITELY a replica Achilles mourning Patroclus. Only it’s two girls, one with flowing hair and a melted face, the other kneeling over her friend, face stricken with grief. He thinks her eyes look familiar. An immortal stands over them. Although they remind more of Ares and less of Thetis.

She has another painting that reminds Percy of a story from the Gigantomachy. Hera cowers under Porphyrion, about to be attacked. Only instead of Zeus and Heracles coming to her aid, it’s a guy with blond hair. His armor and sword is distinctively NOT Greek, but he opts to not comment on it. Rachel did a good job.

There’s more in her little studio, they both dismiss them as dreams. They make Rachel uncomfortable and Percy feels bile rise the more he looks.

He doesn’t realize until months later. It hits him while on the Argo. Him, Jason, Clarisse. THEY were the heroes in those paintings. Jason was the one coming to Hera’s aid. Clarisse was mourning Selina. He was fighting giants.

It all clicked into place, and he tried to remember what else her paintings for-told.

Aang vs Zack Martin

I mentioned the Zack/Maddie relationship in a previous post and now my Suite Life nostalgia is coming back.

Bryke should have given Aang the same kind of development Zack Martin got.

Katara is Aang's Maddie. She's the pretty older girl whom Zack gets a huge crush on when he first sees her. Like Katara, she plays a nurturing role for Zack by being his babysitter. Like Kataang, we see Zack/Maddie have sweet moments together. Maddie's 16th birthday episode is still one of the cutest episodes ever. But like Katara, Maddie shows interest in boys her age or older.

Meng is Aang's Max. The girl Aang's age or younger who has an unreciprocated crush on him. This girl is not conventionally attractive due to not hitting puberty yet, being a tomboy, lacking confidence etc. The girl ultimately learns to move on from her crush.

Aang needed a Maya. Someone who he needed to prove himself to. Someone who would not put him on a pedestal for being the avatar. Someone to challenge him and motivate him to become a worthy man. Someone who would become more than just a dream girl but a partner to compromise with.

Aang's Maya could have been Toph. Maybe a new character would be needed. But Katara could not be Aang's Maya. Katara is Maddie, the boyhood crush, who is idealized and pined over. The girl who coddles him and tries to spare his feelings. Part of Aang's journey in becoming a young man, like Zack's, should have been to let go of that crush. Sadly, this never happened for Aang and Bryke has shown us in the comics and LOK what a total disaster this was.

Which is why I think now, he refused to push the button on Ruby. He made the mistake. He promised her mom. He’s done sacrificing. Millenia have warn him down.

They’d known each other one evening but Rogue saw that he couldn’t do it- and was so smitten he pushed that button for him.

They’d talked of loss. He told Rogue he’d lost everyone. Everyone but Ruby. And Rogue kept it from happening again.

I hope he finds him.

Or dammit that he’s Jack and they’ve met in reverse.

Yves Courrière nicknamed Didouche Mourad "the Saint-Just of the Algerian Revolution." And with good reason: Saint-Just was among those who inspired the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen in 1793. He played an important role both politically and in combat during the French Revolution.

Didouche Mourad, also known as Si Abdelkader, was one of the most important drafters of the Declaration of November 1, 1954. He was among those who laid the foundations for a politico-military organization.He was part of the first "Council of the Revolution".

Both Saint-Just and Didouche Mourad were significant revolutionaries who died young: Saint-Just was guillotined at 26, while Didouche Mourad, the first zone commander to die in combat during the Algerian Revolution, was killed before he turned 28. The zone in question, where Didouche Mourad was the chief, was Wilaya II, corresponding to Northern Constantine. He died in combat at the Battle of Douar Souadek, in Condé-Smendou, near Constantine.
