the amount of praise veilguard gets for accessibility is actually going to drive me up a wall
#like? arguably? aside from a couple features that are NOT unique to datv - it's significantly worse than previous instalments#bitch i'm physically disabled if i wanna play a game using a controller i have to choose between doing dishes & having fun that night#and the UI is so ridiculously overcrowded#why the fuck did CIPT give it a diamond award#like i get that what's accessible for one person can be inaccessible for another#so when you have all these mechanics that might be helpful for some people but you don't get them the option to toggle them off#you end up with new problems for other people!!#maybe i'm just pissed that they nuked the tactical pause bc that's what made DA accessible for me in the first place#veilguard critical#bioware critical#hell brain hours

I want to draw my dreams but I don’t know if they are clear enough in my head for me to get a comprehensible image out of. Idk if that makes sense but I want to take what I dream about visualize it and create things based on it
#it might even help idk#the subconscious is entirely unpredictable#I would like to learn how to have more control over my subconscious. I’m sure it’s possible through mindfulness and certain exercises#not only to have more control over it but also to have more access to it. like to see what’s there and visualize it all and use that to 1/2#help me in my recovery#it’s strange because they’re always very vivid. it’s just the act of interpreting a dream on a piece of paper that’s difficult#giving it a physical form

Saw a post the other day about disability and accessibility that had a follow-up saying that the post was only about physical disabilities and to stop "appropriating" it for mental and neurological disabilities. I would just like to clarify that there is a huge overlap in creating accessible spaces for physical disabilities and others and it's kind of a dick move to purposely disclude those inherently a part of that conversation from it.
#for example#neurological disability that impact balance and fine motor control benefit from physically accessible buildings#disability

i do think it's funny that. i did not get a nintendo switch until the pandemic (specifically for animal crossing) and that most of the time i had my switch i only had one or two games. and only now that the console is nearing its end am i actually like. actively using it and getting games for it and such
the only thing that could convince me to move consoles is another animal crossing game, honestly.
#or another open world zelda if it was somehow better than TOTK#which i think is impossible due the amount of creative freedom in that game#but yeah accessibility wise the switch is the best console i've ever had#bc the joycons being detachable means that i can have my arms at a perfectly neutral position in a chair or in bed#which greatly reduces strain on my shoulders and wrists caused by holding a controller in front of my body#and bc of its dual nature i can play on a TV (better for my bad eyesight) or in bed (more comfy)#also crucially - like other nintendo consoles thus far - many games have physical releases#which matters bc estores always become defunct

This is the time for action. Ppl in Scotland Wales and England: reply to the consultation. Email your mp. And if you're physically able to protest in person check out dpac for dates and times.
Too many people have already died from austerity. We can't go back to that. If you are disabled: this is your future. Pushing this rhetoric is going to worsen hate crime based on lies. If you aren't currently disabled: now is the time to stand with us. Show them we're worth more than slacktivism. We Matter.
So if you're in the UK you have probably heard about the proposed changes to disability benefits. If not, here is a BBC News article (link) about it, and the Big Issue (link) have been running basically non-stop articles about it since the announcement.
Crucially, the government is holding a consultation. Will as many of us as possible weighing in change the outcome? Possibly, though it's far from guaranteed. Will not filling it in help the situation in the slightest? No. So let's all have a go.
You can find the full Green Paper here: (link) and the options to respond are at the bottom of it, including the link to respond online, which is also here: (link)
It's also always worth contacting your MP to let them know what you think, if only to get a response on fancy Commons stationery. You can find your MP here: (link)
So, have at it, UK folks! (These proposals don't apply to Northern Ireland as benefits are transferred, but they are still taking NI comments and sharing them with the Department for Communities, so you may be able to influence whether this approach is taken up in NI in future, too)
And if nothing else, please reblog!
#tho Scotland dont have pip Westminster do control adp budgets so this applies to England Scotland and Wales#be warned: the questions are leading. feel free to go off script and tell them what they Havent asked as well#for those not aware: the figures in this paper are highly suspect.#it's actually been proven that there is no large rise in claims over the past years.#this is the time for action. fill in the consultation. contact your mp. and if you're physically able to protest in person#the rise in spending is barely in line with inflation. the majority of new claimants are 50+ women#very relevant when u consider the rise in pension age and decline in working standards and 'light work'#pip is a non means tested benefit. it's used to help pay for care to get dressed. prepare meals. wash.#eg. all the things you need to do to get to work. reducing it will NOT help ppl work as pip is the thing helping ppl work rn#the consultation also discusses reducing access to work funding. another thing that disabled ppl rely on to work#so however you feel about their motivations. they're straight up wrong. this will not do what they want it to do#see also: there's evidence that every time they make criteria for disability benefits stricter it winds up costing more#cause without low level support ppl get more ill and less able to do stuff and wind up having to claim for high support#anyway theres a ton of evidence for all this. they're completely talking out their arses.#if anyone in the UK needs evidence of the above hit me up.#we really need to move past this. politicians straight up lying and everyone going along with it#uk politics

I don't know I'm not done talking about it. It's insane that I can't just uninstall Edge or Copilot. That websites require my phone number to sign up. That people share their contacts to find their friends on social media.
I wouldn't use an adblocker if ads were just banners on the side funding a website I enjoy using and want to support. Ads pop up invasively and fill my whole screen, I misclick and get warped away to another page just for trying to read an article or get a recipe.
Every app shouldn't be like every other app. Instagram didn't need reels and a shop. TikTok doesn't need a store. Instagram doesn't need to be connected to Facebook. I don't want my apps to do everything, I want a hub for a specific thing, and I'll go to that place accordingly.
I love discord, but so much information gets lost to it. I don't want to join to view things. I want to lurk on forums. I want to be a user who can log in and join a conversation by replying to a thread, even if that conversation was two days ago. I know discord has threads, it's not the same. I don't want to have to verify my account with a phone number. I understand safety and digital concerns, but I'm concerned about information like that with leaks everywhere, even with password managers.
I shouldn't have to pay subscriptions to use services and get locked out of old versions. My old disk copy of photoshop should work. I should want to upgrade eventually because I like photoshop and supporting the business. Adobe is a whole other can of worms here.
Streaming is so splintered across everything. Shows release so fast. Things don't get physical releases. I can't stream a movie I own digitally to friends because the share-screen blocks it, even though I own two digital copies, even though I own a physical copy.
I have an iPod, and I had to install a third party OS to easily put my music on it without having to tangle with iTunes. Spotify bricked hardware I purchased because they were unwillingly to upkeep it. They don't pay their artists. iTunes isn't even iTunes anymore and Apple struggles to upkeep it.
My TV shows me ads on the home screen. My dad lost access to eBook he purchased because they were digital and got revoked by the company distributing them. Hitman 1-3 only runs online most of the time. Flash died and is staying alive because people love it and made efforts to keep it up.
I have to click "not now" and can't click "no". I don't just get emails, they want to text me to purchase things online too. My windows start search bar searches online, not just my computer. Everything is blindly called an app now. Everything wants me to upload to the cloud. These are good tools! But why am I forced to use them! Why am I not allowed to own or control them?
No more!!!!! I love my iPod with so much storage and FLAC files. I love having all my fics on my harddrive. I love having USBs and backups. I love running scripts to gut suck stuff out of my Windows computer I don't want that spies on me. I love having forums. I love sending letters. I love neocities and webpages and webrings. I will not be scanning QR codes. Please hand me a physical menu. If I didn't need a smartphone for work I'd get a "dumb" phone so fast. I want things to have buttons. I want to use a mouse. I want replaceable batteries. I want the right to repair. I grew up online and I won't forget how it was!

So I'm totally blind, and I love my physical buttons. I do not like how they're putting touchscreens on things that used to have perfectly usable buttons.
Is it cheaper to make touch controls than buttons? Because that's the only reason I can think of aside from probably planned obsolescence for them to phase buttons and dials and other reliable physical controls out.
Thanks capitalism I hate it.
Replacing physical buttons and controls with touchscreens also means removing accessibility features. Physical buttons can be textured or have Braille and can be located by touch and don't need to be pressed with a bare finger. Touchscreens usually require precise taps and hand-eye coordination for the same task.
Many point-of-sale machines now are essentially just a smartphone with a card reader attached and the interface. The control layout can change at a moment's notice and there are no physical boundaries between buttons. With a keypad-style machine, the buttons are always in the same place and can be located by touch, especially since the middle button has a raised ridge on it.
Buttons can also be located by touch without activating them, which enables a "locate then press" style of interaction which is not possible on touchscreens, where even light touches will register as presses and the buttons must be located visually rather than by touch.
When elevator or door controls are replaced by touch screens, will existing accessibility features be preserved, or will some people no longer be able to use those controls?
Who is allowed to control the physical world, and who is making that decision?
#Accessibility#Tech Accessibility#Abelism#Systemic Abelism#Touchscreens vs. Physical Controls#I accidentally posted this to the wrong blog so here it is on the RIGHT one.

A comprehensive new report commissioned by the Utah Department of Health and Human Services provides one of the most detailed and exhaustive assessments to date on the medical safety, effectiveness, and long-term outcomes of gender-affirming care for transgender and nonbinary youth. And despite recent political rhetoric suggesting otherwise, the findings are clear: gender-affirming medical treatment, when guided by evidence-based protocols, helps transgender adolescents thrive. The report “Gender-Affirming Medical Treatments for Pediatric Patients with Gender Dysphoria” was produced by the University of Utah’s College of Pharmacy Drug Regimen Review Center and submitted to the state in August 2024. It arrives in the wake of Utah’s controversial Senate Bill 16, which placed a moratorium on gender-affirming medical care for minors and tasked health officials with conducting a review to determine whether the ban should remain in place. Rather than validating the restrictions, the 900-page report systematically debunks the narrative that these treatments are experimental or dangerous. Instead, it affirms what many healthcare professionals, families, and transgender individuals already know from lived experience: that access to gender-affirming hormone therapy and puberty blockers reduces psychological distress, improves quality of life, and is supported by decades of research. The Utah report is among the most thorough reviews conducted by a state agency. It draws on more than 270 clinical studies from the U.S., Canada, the Netherlands, Australia, and Europe, spanning observational studies, randomized controlled trials, and long-term descriptive research. These studies examined the mental and physical health outcomes of transgender youth who underwent gender-affirming medical care, including puberty blockers (GnRH analogs), cross-sex hormones (testosterone or estrogen), and related medications. Key findings include: Significant mental health improvement in adolescents undergoing gender-affirming care, including reductions in depression, anxiety, suicidality, and eating disorders. Improved quality of life and self-image reported by TGNB youth after starting hormone therapy. Low rates of regret or treatment discontinuation, especially when care is delivered through comprehensive, multidisciplinary teams. No serious long-term health risks found in monitored populations receiving hormone therapy, including studies with follow-ups as long as 40 years. The authors conclude that there is more evidence supporting gender-affirming care than there is for many high-risk new drugs approved for children in the U.S., including recent gene therapies.

Definitely human. Was the first thought that popped into Samhain's mind; spirits were susceptible to corruption to Otherworldly beings such as djinn and demonic spirits. She hadn't reacted violently at first sight so that was good. She was a little scared but mostly sad. Samhain tenderly approached the stage, placing his hands on the blurry edges of mahogany and theatre lights.
"No, ah don't think so. Ah would've remembered a face as pretty as yours," the ghoul replied with a warmhearted smile. They were a few feet apart and Samhain could take in all the details of the human girl, from her tear-stained, porcelain cheeks to the worn-down pointes. In a desolate place such as this, a word and moment of kindness could go a long way.
He could sense the hopelessness coming off the spirit in waves, hitting him one after another and pulsing as strong as a heartbeat. What had she been gone through? How long had she been here, without relief? Without rest? It was time to find out. It was what he did, after all.
"Where is home? What's keeping you here?" he implored, asking the spirit to share her tale. "Tell me, child. Tell me what you remember."
The spirit, though distinct amidst the drifting shades, still appeared faint and blurry around the edges. Her colors had faded to a ghostly paleness. She wore a limp tutu of ruffled tulle, the same rose hue as her ballet shoes. Her hair was tied into a wispy bun. She couldn’t be much older than a teenager.
Hairline cracks covered her skin, especially around her left leg, as though she were made of porcelain.
At the gentle sound of Samhain’s voice, the spirit’s sobs faltered. She lifted her head and stared at him with pale brown eyes, her face startled and tear-streaked. Someone new. Someone… different.
“I don’t know you…” she whispered, confused. “Or… do I…?” Her memories had muddled together like watercolors across a damp canvas. She knew he was likely just another fragment of the past resurfacing to deceive her, even though she couldn’t remember him, even though he stood out so starkly. She had realized the trick by now, but far too late. How much time had passed in this facade? Did it even matter?
Still, why not speak to him? Surely she’d sunk so low already that it couldn’t get any worse. The change in monotony brought a hint of relief as well, albeit one that faded quickly beneath another swell of despair.
The spirit flickered as her expression collapsed into hopelessness once more. She buried her face into her palms again, shoulders shuddering with another sob. Her muffled voice wavered. “I— I don’t want this anymore… please… I want to go home…”
#hearthtales#no worries!! and thank you!! i really liked writing that part :D#so Sammy communing with the spirits is like entering a dream realm but not really?#its almost like going into the dreaming - the only difference is you're not asleep and still in control of your physical body!#mentally your mind & spirit travel to a different plane but you can still 'wake up' and come back to your body#but to enter the dreaming you have to be sleeping and unconscious to access that specific plane#and is not always so easy to get out of/wake up from :O

Physical Security Market is booming worldwide with Leading Key Players
According to a new report published by Allied Market Research, titled, “Physical Security Market,” The physical security market size was valued at $104.6 billion in 2020, and is estimated to reach $192.9 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 6.5% from 2021 to 2030.
Physical security is a component of a wider security strategy. Security experts agree that the three most important components of a physical security plan are access control, surveillance, and security testing, which work together to make any space more secure. Access control may start at the outer edge of a security perimeter, which one should establish early in the process. Users can use fencing and video surveillance to monitor access to the facility and secure the outdoor area, especially if they have on-site parking or other outside resources. Furthermore, growth in the number in terror attacks and growing awareness boost the growth of the global physical security market. In addition, growth in technological advancements also positively impacts the growth of the market. However, privacy concerns and lack of physical and logical security integration hamper the market growth. On the contrary, increase in demand for physical security in smart cities is expected to offer remunerative opportunities for expansion of the market during the forecast period.
Depending on industry vertical, IT and telecom segment holds the largest physical security market share as telecommunications industry is facing one of the biggest challenges for managing their networks of base stations. Thus, to properly handle their network issues and to increase the security of telecom operator companies are adopting physical security solutions which is enhancing the growth of the market. However, BFSI segment is expected to witness growth at the highest rate during the forecast period, with the implementation of highly advanced technologies into financial infrastructure, physical security has become an integral part of the BFSI industry. The key drivers of the physical security market in BFSI includes regulatory safety standards’ compliance, risk of data loss, and increase in the adoption of cloud security solutions at data centers, ATMs, corporate buildings, and cash depots.
Region-wise, the physical security market was dominated by North America in 2020 and is the home to major players offering advanced solutions in the physical security market. In addition, increase in security measures across various industry verticals, such as commercial, transportation, government, and others owing to high terrorism incidences in the region, are expected to drive the growth of the market during the forecast period.
However, Asia-Pacific is expected to witness significant growth during the forecast period, owing to the prominent government and police initiatives to enhance physical security software owing to the increase in crime rate. Factors such as increase in insider threats and physical attacks pose great risks on critical infrastructure zones, particularly in developing countries, such as China and India.
Inquiry Before Buying: https://www.alliedmarketresearch.com/purchase-enquiry/2231
With the outbreak of COVID-19, it is challenging to put new tools in place to mitigate risk going forward. Now is a good time to consider updating access control to a more modern, future-proofed system that can still be effective, even if 90% of the office is working remotely. Therefore, it also affected the physical security market growth.
KEY FINDINGS OF THE STUDY
By component, the services segment accounted for the largest physical security market share in 2020.
By region, North America generated highest revenue in 2020 in physical security industry
By enterprise size, large enterprise segment is expected to generate more revenue in the physical security market forecast in 2020.
The key players that operate in the physical security market analysis are ADT Inc., BAE Systems, Cisco system Inc., Genetec Inc., HONEYWELL INTERNATIONAL, INC., Johnson Controls, PELCO corporation, Robert Bosch GmbH, STANLEY CONVERGENT SECURITY SOLUTIONS, INC., and Senstar Corporation. Word List: Psychology
more psychological concepts as reference for your poem/story
Absent grief - a form of complicated grief in which a person shows no, or only a few, signs of distress about the death of a loved one. This pattern of grief is thought to be an impaired response resulting from denial or avoidance of the emotional realities of the loss.
Being love - (or B-love) in Abraham Maslow’s humanistic psychology, a form of love characterized by mutuality, genuine concern for another’s welfare and pleasure, and reduced dependency, selfishness, and jealousy. B-love is one of the qualities Maslow ascribes to self-actualizers.
Cyclopean eye - a theoretical eye, located on the midline between the real eyes, that has access to the functions of both eyes and is used in descriptions of space perception and eye movements.
Dream ego - in the analytic psychology of Carl Jung, a fragment of the conscious ego that is active during the dream state.
Epiphany - a sudden perception of the essential nature of oneself, others, or reality.
Family mythology - the shared stories, norms, and beliefs within a family system. The mythology can be used to deny trauma or pathology within the family or to ascribe meaning to events in ways that suggest their inevitability or importance.
Guilt culture - a trend or organizing principle in a society characterized by the use of guilt to promote socially acceptable behavior. Guilt cultures emphasize both self-control in the face of temptation and self-initiated responsibility for one’s actions if transgressions should occur.
Hedonic treadmill - a metaphor for a hypothesis proposing that people’s happiness tends to return to a preexisting baseline level after positive or negative life events have occurred. According to this concept, positive and negative events may produce short-term shifts in mood, but these shifts tend to erode in a relatively brief period of time. This process of adaptation is thought to be responsible for the persistence of mood states over time, often in the face of considerable efforts to change them. Although there is good evidence for this hypothesis, research has demonstrated that people do not always return to baseline after the occurrence of mood-changing events.
Jactitation - (or jactation) extreme restlessness marked by frequent movements and tossing about.
Leaving the field - the act of removing oneself from a situation when confronted with seemingly insurmountable obstacles, insoluble conflicts, or intensely frustrating problems. It may involve physical withdrawal, escape into psychogenic illness, or some other behavior, such as distraction or changing the subject during a conversation.
