Since I have been told you are the resident James Purefoy connoisseur: for next Friday's movie night, I can get either Equity or Fisherman's Friends from the library.* Which should I get?

(* Obviously, I could also get other movies. But these are two JP movies I haven't seen yet, so.)

OMG I have a *reputation*.

Ok so. Fisherman's Friends is enjoyable and harmless. Lots of feel good content. The plot is a little weak, but if you like sea shanties it's a nice watch. 6,5/10

From a purely Purefoy standpoint, it's a look lol. Fisherman Grandpa can still get it. He's all gruff and non-approachable, but you just know he has a heart of gold under all of that. I enjoyed it but only because I'm a ****.

Equity! oh man I wanted to love that movie and couldn't. I think there's a pacing problem. It's a finance thriller and it's pretty interesting to have a female main cast in this type of setting, but the characters feel pretty empty, and I couldn't get invested. Not a truly bad movie, but not a good one either. I'd rate it 5,5/10.

From a purely Purefoy standpoint, James is bringing the sexy. Three piece suit, clean shaven look, smooth talker... that reminds me I have to gif a scene where he eats a yogurt and looks way too happy about it. He has not enough scenes and not enough character development, but alas the gods are always fickle and cruel with me.

The two movies will get you very, very different vibes, so it depends on what you're looking for and who you're watching it with! Fisherman's Friends is definitely more family friendly and the more enjoyable of the two.
