💜 Today is Wear It Purple Day!! 💜 I don't own much purple clothing, but I recently dug this hat out of storage. Fun facts about this hat: 1. I have owned it since I was in primary school. #90skid 2. It still fits my head (in fact, it fits my head better than some of my 'adult' sized hats). 3. I religiously wore this hat while skateboarding because it had Bart skate boarding on it, and my friends would complement my hat. 4. Before I had any words to describe my gender, or even knew that the thoughts and feelings I had relating to my gender shouldn't be something I was ashamed of, THIS HAT MADE ME FEEL LIKE MYSELF. It affirmed me, it gave me confidence, it 'fit me', it helped me move through the world - a scary world in which I was picked on for not being girly, was called a "man" as an insult, in which tomboy was both an insult used against me and a badge of honour I chose/tried to wear with pride, a world in which I was told I couldn't get my hair cut short like I wanted because " I already looked too much like a boy" #badparenting #lookatmenowdad🖕 5. Due to iso, I am now sporting a haircut similar to what I wanted in the 90s (but was too shy to ask for and instead asked for a more "feminine" short hair style, which I was denied), so I am rocking that length and middle-part, and I am embracing it with love and pride, and have named it "the 90s flop". I wish that as a young person I had of had Wear It Purple Day, so I could have known I wasn't alone, or weird, or wrong. I went to a religious lgbt safe space

It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Everyone was so accepting and I got to hear the experiences of those like me. There were conversion therapy survivors and people who had been shunned by their family. I was the youngest person there and I explained how the community had been introduced to me and how I struggled to find my identity over many years.

This was my first experience of a safe space. This was my first experience of sharing and meeting lgbt people just like me and being able to talk to them and get advice. I loved it so much. The allies listened and those who weren’t affirming listened to our stories and didn’t interrupt. Everyone was so respectful, despite any tensions.

This was the first one hosted by the camp I’m on. In the past, they haven’t allowed us to have a voice. There’s still so much more to accomplish. Next year, they’re introducing a QnA where unaffirming Christians can learn a bit more about our experiences. They can learn about how they’re hurting us and how we aren’t that much different from them. I can’t wait ❤️

Today, I’m calling attention to and disrupting the religious violence trans people experience everyday in every U.S. state, and is pushed internationally by evangelists. Religious based anti-Trans violence is part of a culture of the ongoing belittling and minimizing of Trans folks through a lens that says, not even our God(s) would claim you. Transphobia is not only the positive presence of violence, but also the complicit silence and dismissal of issues that allow harmful, violent, and dehumanizing acts and white supremacist theology and culture to be perpetuated. (Note: This disproportionately affects our siblings who are black and brown.) . ✝️❤️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ We have been hosting online affirming youth groups for almost three years now and it never ceases to amaze us how resilient the young people that find us are. In the face of non-affirming Christianity they still want to believe and explore their faith. In order to find us they have to search the internet, fill out a form, and have the courage to show up by themselves to an online youth group where they don’t know anybody…just so they can worship in a safe affirming environment…ID: a tweet that says, “I am constantly amazed by queer Christian’s.
