that was a really fascinating quiz. the 113 questions scared me at first, but the quiz quickly changes theme and it goes by much faster. took me abt ~20 mins. spoilers under the cut:
(btw I edited this with hemingway so it'd be easier to read)
So, at first, I was wishing I could explain to the creator of the quiz that it's impossible to waste one's life. The story doesn't prove anything because they're trying to push their narrative. The protagonist didn't undergo any character development. It wasn't a very good story---or so I thought. Also, in my beliefs, one's destiny is God, and the path to said destiny is your faith. I don't like the portrayal of the angel and how the narrative used it as another obstacle. Yet, I later found myself eating my words. When the creator's views on life, death, and time changed for the better, it turned into a lesson. I don't agree with the message in its entirety, but it's much better than what I thought the message was at the start. I also liked how it circled back to the original theme with the, "By the way, what's your favorite color?" A set-up, character arc, and payoff; that's good storytelling, if you ask me.
In case you're wondering, I got yellow.
best uquiz ive ever taken

How To Understand The Material
Make notes, preferably during class so you can spend the extra time after class/at home doing the steps below. Your notes does NOT have to be pretty, it just has to be LEGIBLE. Your notes should include terms, definitions, labeled diagrams (if applicable), specific step-by-step processes, and examples.
Make flashcards, preferably online so you can study while commuting and there’s no risk of you losing a flashcard. I recommend Knowt.com, it’s free with no limitations (the app is still din development, so I recommend using the actual site on your Safari or Chrome).
Find practice questions in your textbook, old exams, or questions your teacher gave you and make a short test based on that. Your test should feel similar to an actual test, so put a mix of multiple choice, matching, short answers, and/or labeling diagrams.
The best way to learn terms is to put it in your own words. You can write both the textbook definition and your own, if it helps.
Once you know the foundation/basics of the subject, test yourself using the quiz you made (or a test you found online), and apply it to the questions. Make sure the questions aren’t just asking you the definitions, but also forcing you to apply the stuff you know in specific situations.
For remembering diagrams or step-by-step processes, repetition is key. Just keep doing it over and over again until it sticks. Flashcards are good for this.
Highlighting is bullshit. You are wasting your time. You do NOT need highlighters for YOUR own notes. Your notes should only have the important parts in it (look back at step one to see what should be included). The only two times I think you should highlight are the parts you are struggling to understand (but that is only AFTER you studied AND understood everything, so you don’t highlight everything at the beginning), and extensive notes that you didn’t write yourself (because it’s harder to understand the material when somebody is describing it in their own words).

Fun things to do with your ocs!!
‣ Create a family tree Using Family Echo, or any other website, you can create a family tree for your oc.
‣ Write about them This is an obvious one. Writing isn't for everybody, yes, but you don't have to write an entire story. You can just make quick scenarios, dialogues or ideas with them. As long as your having fun and developing them.
‣ Make a them on an app/game If you aren't very artistic or simply just too lazy to draw, try making them on something like the Sims, Gacha Life or Picrew. Look for character maker websites/apps, or look for games that allow a lot of customization like Roblox.
‣ Do arts and crafts Make a doll of them or a plushie. You don't have to make anything complicated really, maybe you can do something that it's in their inventory or a key item in the story.
‣ Make their outfit I'm literally telling you to cosplay as your character. You have free will.
‣ Voice claims Look for voice claims, either talking or singing. There's multiple compilations on tiktok for voice claims. There's also this list and template that helps on that too.
‣ Pinterest boards/Spotify playlist/Mood boards The typical, this needs no explanation.
‣ Lore explanation video I don't know if you've seen them but there's some people who make videos explaining their ocs' lore in a nutshell. If you have the capabilities then go ahead and make one.
‣ Make music of them If you have any available music programs (FL Studios, Bandlabs, GarageBand, etc.), make a theme for your characters.
‣ Classpect them (If you aren't a homestuck you can skip this actually) Identify their class and aspect, as well as their lunar sway. You can also just take the quiz as your character and see what sign they get.
Any extra stuff will be added in a second post in the next time that I can think of anything. Also, apologies if my tagging is lackluster, I hate tagging and idk how tumblr works.

The Quiz App: Final.
Hello everyone, If you follow me or happen to have seen the post I made on the 21st of August (this post precisely) I casually made a request because I was tired of coding alone(still am 😆) and people showed interest starting with @xiacodes. Immediately- We talked about what we wanted to do causally and it ended up being "The Quiz App", We had a few calls on the Codeblr Discord to decide what we wanted to do and where we would stop, with @lazar-codes joining us later on to contribute. We digressed a bit and talked about other things lol but you get it.
Active Contributors
@xiacodes did 99% of the styling (she really loves styling) and it turned it great.
@lazar-codes suggested Trello(a task-management system) which we use to organize tasks and check progress.
I did the documentation, helped with the quiz-app logic, and theme mode and I was generally just all over the place offering help here and there, also being a sponge absorbing all the new pieces of information. 🤩🤩 Today, I merged the testing branch with the master branch, bringing an end to an experience that I want to cherish forever.
(I clearly suck at Geography lol) ⚠⚠⚠ I also want to take this opportunity to encourage Web Developers + programmers to contribute to open-source projects: It's one of the best ways to learn from other people, share ideas and put your Git knowledge into practice. Check out The Quiz App here The Quiz App (mmnldm.github.io) Special Shout-Out to @a-fox-studies Your presence is always appreciated!

Second major project. A quiz app with questions and answers fetched from an API. I used this video as inspo ...
youtube
And the tutorial source code :
I didn't follow the tutorial line for line because I wanted to challenge myself. And boy was I challenged!! It was frustrating ( I use this word like 5 times per post ヽ༼ ಥ_ಥ༽ノ!!!) but it was very worth it. There were some areas I just could not figure out so I took a peek at the tutorial code.

Got my first ever detention today (it will be on tmr) cuz I didn't do geography hw lmao . My guy rlly expected us to answer like,, over 500 questions in his stupid quiz app thing in a week during exam week, when we literally had to revise for other exams too . Like does he think he's special or smth??
Tbh I'm kinda surprised I'm not that upset about this— just annoyed. Me a few months ago would've had a whole meltdown about getting a detention lmao, but now I just don't care (apart from being mildly annoyed of spending 30min in detention room with him ew). Character development???

How I Learned Spanish
One of my superpowers is that I speak Spanish. No one expects it and I regularly surprise those who hear me for the first time. After asking me where I come from (shocker - not from a Spanish-speaking area or family), the second question people always ask is how did I learn? That is what I want to share today.
To start, allow me to share that I am a non-native Spanish speaker. I learned the language as an adult. I started learning at 20 or 21. In the beginning it was just to make jokes with coworkers and learn the curse words. Soon enough, it became an interest and a passion. I developed a love for the language.
Soon, I discovered that language is not just a combination of words. It is an expression of culture. Many words do not have direct translations, from English to Spanish, and vice versa. When you learn Spanish, you learn the words of course, but you also learn new meanings. You start to see your own native language differently. It is a journey not a destination.
So, how did I do it? Below, I will share what worked for me. I must note though that I did not necessarily learn in this order. Instead, these are all methods that I incorporated into my education. Start with what makes sense for you. Leave what doesn't resonate. There is no wrong way.
1. Music Videos with Lyrics
I give this suggestion to everybody. It is fun, and it is relatively easy.
Go to YouTube. Search for Spanish songs with lyrics ("con letra"). If you don't like the first song, keep searching. Search for genres that you like. Don't listen to something because you have to. Rather, listen to it because you enjoy it and want to learn it. That will make the learning easier.
While listening, pause the video as needed and translate what you need.
There are many benefits to learning the music. You learn how people actually speak. You learn the cadence of language. You learn slang. You learn vocabulary that isn't in your study books. Instead of learning rote rules (which are important but they have their time and place), you learn actual natural language. Also, I have discovered that learning music helps you remember the words. Catchy songs are great.
2. Listen to people or songs or shows, even if you don't understand.
Learning Spanish was never easy for me but it was convenient. I worked in restaurants and half of the staff and customers spoke the language. So, I had access to the language. What helped me is that I listened intently to what they were saying. I didn't do this to be nosey but to aide my understanding. I started to notice common sounds and words. Once I got those down, I could understand the basic gist of conversations. Eventually, I could understand full sentences (sometimes).
After all, learning in a class setting or language app doesn't necessarily translate to understanding. It usually leads you to passing a quiz that you forget a week later. Active listening exposes you to how the language is officially spoken, not just textbook pronunciations. (By the way, people don't usually speak according to the textbooks!)
3. Speak the language
This seems easy. Of course, you are going to speak the language when you are learning it. Right? It's actually harder than it seems. In the beginning, I was so nervous about speaking that I was afraid to do it. I did it anyway. I probably sounded horrible. In fact, I know I did. People laughed when I spoke. And not because I was telling jokes. I said the wrong things. I misunderstood conversations. However, I persisted.
The more you speak, the better you get. Sure, you are sloppy in the beginning, but you improve. Besides, you have to start somewhere. Face your fears. Sound silly. It doesn't matter. It will help your advancement.
4. Purchase some grammar books
So far, I have highlighted some advantages of learning the natural way people speak, of learning what the textbooks won't teach you. However, grammar rules are important. In the beginning, people forgive you for your mistakes, but you do need to learn the official rules of language.
I am not suggesting expensive textbooks. You can go on Amazon and get a couple of books for $20-$30 each. Learning Spanish, I think I purchased 4 books in all. One for Verbs and Tenses. One for Adjectives. "Breaking out of Beginner Spanish" (I highly recommend). " One for Spanish Idioms. They were all great but the Spanish Idioms one was a bit difficult. Each region uses different idioms and it is difficult to know which ones are universal. Try them out but a native Spanish speaker from Mexico may not understand an idiom from Spain. The other three books are fundamental, though.
5. Don't give up.
Some days I felt great. Some days I felt horrible. The more I learned, the more I realized I didn't know. Some days it felt that as soon as I grasped one concept, I completely forgot another. In fact, 14 years later, I still have more to learn. Speaking Spanish is hard, yet completely worth it. It exposes you to different worlds and cultures. When you feel like giving up, take a brief step back and take a break. But never give up. Keep going. The more you practice, the better you will become. The more you practice, the easier it will be. You can do it.
