Writing with brain fog is both the easiest and the most difficult I’ve ever done. In one hand, it makes it very easy not to over think every single detail you’ve written before and just write into the dark or follow the planning without a struggle. Or it makes you doubt everything, as you don’t remember if this specific quote is from a book, movie you’ve seen or if it’s something you’ve actually written yourself and then don’t know if you’re accidentally plagiarizing something or just your own work. But how do I actually write and make my stories come to life? Well, it begins with writing enough key details in my idea document on my phone. It could be anything from X meets Y to complete scenes with dialog on 1k words or more. If I use specific acronyms for a specific book or idea-thingy, I try to scribble that down too so I’ll have an easier time searching in my too long document. But other than that I haven’t adapted my writing too much since my brain fog got worse, expect from maybe just focusing on one manuscript at the time and not jump between stories too much to keep my head focused on said story. Also, it makes it easier when having different voices in different documents and not feel totally like a fish out of water. Definitely don’t recommend jumping between a dark romance thriller to an angsty rom-com😂 Been there, done that.

Hello everyone! I'm finally getting around to planning out book posts like I mentioned in a post the other week!
I figured that I would start with a general post showing you all of the books that I've read so far this year! They're in the order that I read them for the most part. I had to throw The Black Phone Stories at the top so that my stack wouldn't be too haphazardous.
I've talked on here breifly before that I would like to start posting more, and specifically post some bookish content. I've loved books since I was a child, and I've collected them my whole life.
I've always been a reader but I've found that the last two years of my life I'm starting to read just as much as I did when I was a child. This is something that I'm really excited about. I've discovered so masny amazing titles and authors the past few months and my To Read List is getting longer and longer.
I'm not sure exactly how these posts will go, I imagine they'll be quite rambly just like this one. I'll always warn before I spoil anything, but keep in mind that I will be posting spoilers!
Let me know if you've read or plan to read any of the books in this list! I dont know if I'll make a post on every book on here, but I'm going to for sure make posts on my favorite ones! If I'm being honest, most of them have become a favorite in some way. I feel like I've gotten so lucky with my book selections this year!
Reply with any book reccs you have for me!! :D
Also, I'm currently reading These Violent Delights, I'm a bit over halfway and I absoluuutely love it so far!! I can't wait to read the sequel, I have sooo many sequels to read!! A lot of the books in this list have sequels coming out this year and early next year!!

"A Witcher's Heart"
Chapter 1: The Mysterious Stranger Chapter 2: A Stranger in Need Chapter 3: A Slow Unfolding Chapter 4: A Witcher's Heart Chapter 5: The Test of Time Chapter 6: A Love Worth Fighting For

Chapter 6: A Love Worth Fighting For
As the seasons changed and time marched on, Geralt and Y/N faced trials and tribulations together. They navigated the complexities of love and sacrifice, learning to communicate not only with words but with the unspoken language of their hearts.
Geralt continued to battle monsters, his destiny intertwined with the darkness he hunted. Y/N, too, found her purpose, not in adventure beyond Willowbrook, but in the love she shared with the Witcher. She learned to find strength in vulnerability and to cherish the moments they had together.
Their love story, like the tale of a Witcher's heart, was a testament to the power of kindness, perseverance, and the transformative nature of love. In each other's arms, they found a home—a place where even the most guarded hearts could flourish.
And so, in the quiet village of Willowbrook, a love story unfolded—a love story between a villager and a Witcher, proving that even the unlikeliest of hearts can find their way to each other, even in a world filled with monsters and mysteries.

2022 End of the Year Wrap-Up
I am so excited to be back from my hiatus! It was a much needed break and I am happy to announce that I have finished my 3rd semester of college and was able to spend more time with friends and family.
2022 was certainly a year of growth for me. I really grew into my responsibilities and I could not be more proud of myself. Not only was I productive in self care this year but also in reading. My Goodreads reading goal this year was 40 compared to last year’s goal of 29. I was also able to complete my goal this year and read a total of 40 books! This makes me very excited, last year my goal was far less and I wasn’t able to complete it so I am extra proud of the progress I have made. Another goal I had this year was to not re-read as many books and make myself branch out into new territories, I was also able to do that, only re-reading 4 books.
I will not be going in depth for many of these books as I have given reviews for many on Goodreads or they have made it onto this blog already. I'm going to keep my comments on what I read this year brief unless there is something special I want to mention. As always, full thoughts (during and after reading) are on Goodreads, so if you want to know more about what I thought, check there or DM me (here or on Instagram @Jooniens )
(also note before reading, on Goodreads I will round up my scores accordingly hence why you will see a difference in ratings!)
No more waiting, here are all of the books I read in 2022!
The Final Girl Support Group by Grady Hendrix
I love Hendrix’s work but his other novels definitely outshine this one.
3.5/5 Stars
Gumiho by Kat Cho
A little over dramatic for my taste, an interesting concept though.
3/5 Stars
Scythe by Neal Shusterman (2018 Re-read)
Just reaffirmed my love for this series, full thoughts on Goodreads.
5/5 Stars
Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo
Fairly unmemorable, I enjoyed reading it.
3/5 Stars
Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson
An instant favorite.
5/5 Stars
One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Not my favorite book by this author but enjoyable and memorable.
3/5 Stars
The Secret Lives of Church Ladies by Deesha Philya
An excellent collection of short stories that touched my heart.

3/5 Stars
The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins
A surprisingly good read that kept my drives to work interesting.
3.5/5 Stars
Darius the Great is Not Okay by Adib Khorram
A touching book that sticks with me to this day. A favorite to come out of YA.
4.5/5 Stars
The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson
An excellent and action packed sequel to Mistborn.
4.5/5 Stars
I Kissed Sarah Wheeler by Casey Mcquiston
I think Mcquiston should stick to Adult novels, it doesn't compete with other YA on the market.
2.5/5 Stars
American Panda by Gloria Chao
A cute coming of age story. Enjoyable but not exactly unique.
3.5/5 Stars
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
A very disappointing book for a Pulitzer Prize winner. Full thoughts on Goodreads
2.5/5 Stars
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
A super cute summer read. Not the height of literature but fun to read.
2.5/5 Stars
Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy
Such a fun concept with an unlikable main character.
3/5 Stars
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
The hype got to this one for me but I still loved reading it.
4.5/5 Stars
Palm Beach by Mary Adkins
The Worst of The Year. I hated this book.
1/5 Stars
First Love, Take Two by Sajni Patel
A cute romance book, super formulaic but enjoyable.
3/5 Stars
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han
My second Jenny Han book, I liked it a lot more than TSITP.
4/5 Stars
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
A truly excellent novel. One of my favorites of the year.
5/5 Stars
Hot Under His Collar by Andie J. Christopher
A trash romance book, not much else to say.
2/5 Stars
The Grace Year by Kim Ligget
A book that I wasn’t expecting to like nearly as much as I did.
4.5/5 Stars
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson
This is THE murder mystery. This sets the standard.

Every Vow You Break by Peter Swanson
Awful thriller. Like what the hell was this.
1.5/5 Stars
City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
You all know how I feel about these books.
3/5 Stars
Furyborn by Claire Legrand (2020 Re-read)
This was technically a re-read but I remembered nothing about it and I am so thankful for that.
5/5 Stars
Kingsbane by Claire Legrand
A solid sequel but I much prefer the first book.
4/5 Stars
City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
A really good conclusion to the series. I have complaints but y’all know them.
3.5/5 Stars
Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson
This is certainly one of the books of all time. I liked the first one better.
3.5/5 Stars
The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson
This was a massive book. Not just in terms of size but also in content. An instant classic.
5/5 Stars
House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig
I went into this book with no expectations and it was an okay read.
2.5/5 Stars
The Violent Delights by Chloe Gong
This is another case where the hype really got to me for this book, wish I would have read it earlier.

Entertaining and worth the read, especially in October.

Flame in the Mist by Renée Adhieh (2nd time re-reading)
My favorite comfort book.

Truthwitch by Susan Dennard
Not what I was expecting to read but I absolutely loved this book.

Showed me just how much my reading taste has changed.
1.5/5 stars
An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
OMG did I love this book. It instantly became a favorite of all time
5/5 Stars
Serpent and Dove by Shelby Maurin
I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to lovers of enemies to lovers.
3.75/5 Stars
A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir
An amazing sequel, this series is becoming a favorite.
4/5 stars

Some Girls Do Review (No Spoilers)
I brought this alongside Cemetery Boys, I purchased it without hearing about it first which is uncommon for me. I normally look for recommendations first but the cover was absolutely gorgeous.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 Favourite Character: Ruby and Morgan (I can't choose!) Favourite Quote: "My whole life might be a never-ending series of question marks right now, but this I'm sure of. This I want."
The discussion of pride, activism and discrimination is great, sometimes it felt like it was reaching a bit. Either way, it certainly was very enjoyable and something I wish was discussed more. Especially how it's different to be out than to be prideful of your identity.
As mentioned in the Cemetery Boys review, I'm not a big fan of changing perspectives but this book at least tells you who it is and has a consistent pattern which I really enjoyed. I found it VERY exciting waiting to read the other perspective.
It would have been a five-star book but comparing it to Cemetery Boys certainly makes things tough. It was an amazing change of pace from my usual book and I loved reading something set in the real world for once. However, I feel like Morgan needed to communicate better and actually listen to Ruby. She did realise that but it was frustrating to read.
I highly recommend this book if you're into contemporary romance, it's not normally my style but I loved this.

I finally finished THE TENSORATE SERIES by Neon Yang! Each book is written in a completely different style than the others, and is told from a different character's perspective. They're magical, queer, and morally gray.
You should read all four novellas, but for the sake of consistency...
Read THE BLACK TIDES OF HEAVEN if you love twins, breaking free, dysfunctional families, tyrants, monasteries, uprisings, discovering your identity, prophesies, genderfuckery & beginnings.
Read THE RED THREADS OF FORTUNE if you love grief narratives, deserts, running away, running forward, scars, discovering new powers, trauma narratives, breaking & entering, and cute enbies.
Read THE DESCENT OF MONSTERS if you love epistolary tales, mysteries, detectives, cover-ups, missing children, destiny, creepy settings, beasts, class dynamics, and heroes.
Read THE ASCENT TO GODHOOD if you love drunk protagonists, reminiscing about the past, dancing girls, espionage, ending at the beginning, f**ked up families, young queer love, unlikable people & beginning at the end.

In July I read another set of four books, and the first non action/thriller/suspense book from Tal Bauer. It was good! Bauer’s skills and writing were great, like always. Yet I kept finding after reading more than half of the book, I was missing the action, or the mystery to solve. “Love and Lifeless” should’ve probably been a three star, yet it got four. Don’t ask me what I was thinking😂 it was another ‘I’ve read worse and better books—yet I had a good time reading it’. There was definitely something in the character development that made me a bit confused (like the characters being too similar and suddenly mixing goals etc). So if I ever read it again, it’s going to get a lower score. Lot of four star books this month! “Garron Park” was a fun, easy read book and I’m confused why I didn’t give it a higher score. Yes, it’s been a few weeks since I read it and brain fog makes me forget all the bad parts of it, probably something with the ending that made me give it a lower score. But to compare it to the other four stars books this month, it’s definitely the best one, sorry Bauer. On to the cherry on top, the only five star book for this month! “Freak camp” gives me such Isaac Marion’s “Warm bodies series” meets “Supernatural” vibes. Like it’s difficult not seeing the “Supernatural” inspiration. It was definitely the slowest of slow burn other than “Captive Prince” by C. S. Pacat I’ve read and I’m not mad about it! Finally, I would recommend either “Garron Park” or “Freak Camp” depending on how dark you want it and how many TW’s you wanna read.
