Listen I love watcher. Maybe Moreso than dropout but I need them to understand something.

They do not have the lasting power that college humor does/did.

Dropout/CH was its own thing outside of Buzzfeed for a while! There fanbase can afford it because they have a WIDER (and older!) fanbase. They also still post the pay walled videos just MONTHS later. Also the amount of UNPAYED content they have is still INCREDIBLY generous. Not just the first eps of things we have entire series.

Not to mention their wider variety of content and GENUINE NEED to have a larger budget for the content they make. Watcher content is good but the only show that would require extra funds is "ghost hunting" but they could save costs by going back to the buzzfeed "Yellow and Blue Text." We liked it then, we'll take it now.

Watcher had a healthy community and a great flow of cash. This new paywall is gonna fuck them tremendously. They aren't as important to people as they seem to think and thats sad! Again I LOVE their content but I dont have 6 bucks a month. I barely have 6 bucks NOW.

Everyone makes a bad financial decision every once and a while though. Lol whatever.

soooo redbull has renewed checo and toto wolff has said they’re focusing on kimi, which essentially means carlos has no seat in a team that’s expected to be fighting for titles.

that being said - carlos sainz is by no means stupid. he’s at the peak of his career, has been on the grid for almost a decade, is known for being rational and a better strategist than an entire team and is backed by a father who’s not only a veteran in motorsport but is also fairly involved in his son’s career (and also the $$$ and influence doesn’t hurt)

so while part of me is crying, shaking, throwing up, i also believe he knows what he’s doing and he wouldn’t be so complacent if not for some good plans for the future.

(or he could collect his oscar and start the beginning of the end of his career and leave me to my misery, but for now I need to tell myself this or I’ll lose my mind)

Wait… Did I Just Lose All My Money Investing in the Stock Market?

The stock market is not a fucking game. Which is why I get all grumpy and cantankerous at apps that try to gamify investing by encouraging rapid buying and selling (lookin’ at you, Robinhood). This system is not designed for the average person to get rich by day trading.

Rather, the whole system is designed so that you and I, normal Earth humans, can invest for the long term and eventually profit from the whole exercise. We’re supposed to buy and hold for years at a time, patiently feeding money into the investment monster at regular intervals and waiting for it to poop out compounding returns. It’s not a get-rich-quick machine.

Which is why we don’t ever recommend a practice of rapid buying and selling. You are not the Wolf of Wall Street, my dude. Stick your money in an index fund and sit on it for years. Set it and forget it. If you can, schedule automatic investments and ignore the whole damn thing for months or years at a time.
