Going into My Lady Jane blind and having the following thoughts.
How dare they erase Robert Dudley, I turned it off halfway through and got over myself about 12 hours later and continued on.
Also same for Mary Dudley.
Dominic Cooper is doing his best Elizabethan era Blackadder and I love it.
The ship of Mary/Seymour I wasn't expecting, but seeing moments of it I get it, seriously.
Rob Brydon is a treasure and needs to be protected at all costs.
I love Edward in this, it is no Becoming Elizabeth, but it is a great alternative history version.
Is Fitz Barnaby Fitzpatrick?
I love Jane and for the first time in a while, my favourite character is the main character.
Granny being that Granny is a very interesting choice, especially with the undertones on what they actually represent in history. If going that way another Granny would definitely fill the brief a bit more - but then it will bring up further questions of their line.
THE COSTUMES, for an alt show, they are so good.
Also implying Henry murdered his own brother is wild, ok so he was a tyrant at a young age we get it.
This is definitely more of a comedic version of Reign but with Jane Grey instead of Mary Queen of Scots.

I feel like Logan’s death really commandeers the conversation about how terrible season 4 of Veronica Mars is (understandably so it is horrific) but there’s literally SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT 😭
Veronica isn’t Veronica and Logan isn’t Logan (really NO ONE is truly in character anymore). Rob Thomas clearly has NO IDEA what healing actually looks like so Logan becomes this pop psychology stereotype with no depth or emotion and like Veronica literally says A POD PERSON. And he describes his therapy as controlling his anger so it doesn’t consume him. That might have been the move as a temporary band-aide immediately to stabilize his life after season 3 but what like 12 years later???? When season 4 starts? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Fire that therapist immediately 😭 He should be WELL into the source of his anger. Healing isn’t about control it’s about surrender and acceptance of your feelings and developing healthy coping strategies to process your newly uncovered feelings so you can live WITH them not in spite of them. There’s a reason so many “good guy” characters are so one dimensional and boring it’s because the male writers writing them literally have NO CLUE what a healthy well adjusted men act like 😭 - (Ted Lasso was so rare because we had good men writing good men)
And yes we know Logan punching people does it for Veronica but that’s because it is ALWAYS in defense of her but his safety and well being is always her number 1 priority (he pulls a gun to save her in the Fitzpatricks bar and she screams at him because she doesn’t want him to get hurt or killed in his attempt to defend her and she’s terrified). Him just punching a kitchen cabinet in rage and frustration is NOT the same thing at all and she would show concern in that situation not immediately instigate sex ROBERT.
The idea that Veronica did ZERO growing/healing/processing in those 12 years is so insulting and just not realistic - once she got space and distance she would have come out of fight or flight and been assaulted with all the repressed emotions from seasons 1-3 before law school yet somehow she’s WORSE than she was when she was younger with less stability and support and capacity to handle everything she was dealing with.
Especially after everything established in the movie!
“Are you gonna ask me if I did it?”
“I wouldn’t be here if I thought you did”
THE AMOUNT OF GROWTH THAT SHOWS IN VERONICA IS ACTUALLY INSANE. Miss never trusts anybody, suspect EVERYONE until your can verify the truth - believes Logan and Weevil AT THEIR WORD. Trusts THEIR CHANGE implicitly and picks helping Logan and Weevil BECAUSE SHE CARES not because it’s a fucking addiction as Rob tried to frame it in the movie 💀💀💀 Veronica always helped because she’s SOFT because she has a good heart and can’t help but help when she knows she can which is classic of parentified children - you believe everything is your responsibility to fix if it’s in your capability to fix. Does she get neurotic trying to solve cases? Absolutely! But that is trying to control and fix external problems as a distraction from her own. It was a coping mechanism and taking that coping mechanism away in the 9 years between season 3 and the movie would have caused serious problems for her that would have forced her to confront her issues.
Season 4 could have been Veronica having a complete break down from her always too full plate coming crumbling down trying to help and fix too much combined with logan being gone and always at risk when he is gone, Wallace bringing new life into an increasingly corrupt neptune she can’t seem to save, Mac working for Jake Kane?!!?! I would have loved If instead she was helping Mac deal with the swapped at birth thing they NEVER touched again. Combined with her dad’s health problems and Weevil falling back into his old habits. She is someone who feels responsible for everything and everyone around her because everyone blamed her for EVERYTHING when she was younger and eventually that catches up with you and THAT is what I wanted to see her strength crumble forcing her to be truly vulnerable and instead of asking for favors asking for HELP allowing her to stop acting like a woman written by a man and act like an actual adult woman BY women who actually understand that experience. Rob was SO out of his depth - his portrayal of Leanne in earlier seasons already proved that.
But that’s just one of literally 1 million possibilities that would have been better than the direction Rob chose. He managed to strip away everything we loved about ALL of his characters until they were ghosts of themselves and it makes me SO UPSET 😭 because he literally revived a show just to finish the destruction path he started in season 3, that had started to be corrected in the movie because it was so controlled by the fans.
Rob and Joss - two men who’s success was built upon a largely female audience and then their misogyny caused them to try and destroy everything their audiences loved 🙃🙃🙃🙃
#thanks I hate it#veronica mars#fuck rob thomas#fuck joss whedon#logan echolls#season 4 veronica mars

Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. (born October 20, 1971), also known by his stage name Snoop Dogg (previously Snoop Doggy Dogg), is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, media personality, and actor. His initial fame dates back to 1992 following his guest appearance on Dr. Dre's debut solo single, "Deep Cover", and later on Dre's debut album, The Chronic that same year. Broadus has since sold over 23 million albums in the United States, and 35 million albums worldwide. His accolades include an American Music Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and 17 Grammy Award nominations.
Produced entirely by Dr. Dre, Broadus's debut studio album, Doggystyle (1993) was released by Death Row Records and debuted atop the Billboard 200. Selling 800,000 copies in its first week, the album received quadruple platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) the following year and spawned the Billboard Hot 100-top ten singles "What's My Name?" and "Gin and Juice". He was the lead performer on Death Row's soundtrack album for the 1994 short film Murder Was the Case, wherein Broadus made his acting debut. His second album, Tha Doggfather (1996), likewise debuted atop the chart and received double platinum certification.
In 1998, he parted ways with Death Row in favor of Master P's No Limit Records, through which he saw largely continued success with his albums Da Game Is to Be Sold, Not to Be Told (1998), No Limit Top Dogg (1999), and Tha Last Meal (2000). He then signed with Priority, Capitol, and EMI Records to release his sixth album Paid tha Cost to Be da Boss (2002), which was further commercially oriented. This effectively continued upon him signing with Geffen Records to release his next three albums: R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece (2004), Tha Blue Carpet Treatment (2006), and Ego Trippin' (2008); the former spawned the single "Drop It Like It's Hot" (featuring Pharrell), which became his first to peak atop the Billboard Hot 100. He then returned to Priority and Capitol—upon his hiring as chairman of the former label—to release his tenth and eleventh albums, Malice 'n Wonderland (2009) and Doggumentary (2011), both of which saw mild critical and commercial response.
During this time, Broadus starred in films and hosted several television shows, including Doggy Fizzle Televizzle, Snoop Dogg's Father Hood, and Dogg After Dark. In 2012, following a trip to Jamaica, Snoop converted to Rastafari and adopted the alias Snoop Lion, under which he released a reggae album, Reincarnated (2013), and a namesake documentary film about his Jamaican experience.
His thirteenth studio album, Bush (2015), was produced entirely by frequent collaborator Pharrell, while his fourteenth studio album, Coolaid (2016), was released the same year as his induction into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame. In 2018, Broadus became "a born-again Christian" and released his first gospel album, Bible of Love in March of that year. In November of that year, Broadus was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2022, Broadus acquired Death Row Records from MNRK Music Group (formerly known as eOne Music), and released his nineteenth studio album, BODR (2022)—preceded by the independently-released I Wanna Thank Me (2019) and From tha Streets 2 tha Suites (2021).
The Washington Post, Billboard, and NME have called him a "West Coast icon"; and Press-Telegram, "an icon of gangsta rap". In 2006, Vibe magazine called him "The King of the West Coast". ABC News journalist Paul Donoughue, cited him among the 1990s acts that took hip-hop into the pop music charts. Broadus received the BMI Icon Award in 2011. In 2023, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Broadus popularized the use of -izzle speak particularly in the pop and hip-hop music industry. A type of infix, it first found popularity when used by Frankie Smith in his 1981 hit song "Double Dutch Bus". The Guardian's Rob Fitzpatrick has credited his album Doggystyle for proving that rappers "could reinvent themselves", expanding rap's vocabulary, changing hip-hop fashions, and helping introduce a hip-hop genre called G-funk to a new generation. The album has been cited as an influence by rapper Kendrick Lamar, while fellow rappers ScHoolboy Q and Maxo Kream have also cited him as an influence.

As United States Postal Service letter carriers face increasing violence and assaults on the job, the police officers who could protect them have been sidelined by the government, a new Raw Story investigation revealed.
With letter carrier robberies skyrocketing by 543 percent between 2019 and 2022, the issue has spurred a bipartisan group of Congress members to introduce legislation aimed at providing more secure mailbox equipment and better protecting letter carriers.
Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), who introduced the Protect our Letter Carriers Act last week, said Raw Story's investigation should urge Congress to turn the bill into law.
“The concerns highlighted in this story only increase the urgency needed in Congress to pass the bipartisan Protect our Letter Carriers Act," Fitzpatrick said in a statement to Raw Story. "The United States Postal Service must have the resources to update its outdated arrow keys and harden mailboxes. We must also increase the prosecution and lengthen sentences of individuals arrested for assaulting and robbing letter carriers. I will do whatever is necessary to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to pass this crucial piece of legislation.”

A 2020 statute reinterpretation by the Postal Service curtailed uniformed postal police officers' ability to patrol the streets where mail crimes typically occur, restricting them to working on postal property such as post offices and distribution centers. Meanwhile, the number of postal police officers overall has shrunk from a high of more than 2,600 in the 1970s to about 450 officers today.
In a phone interview with Raw Story, Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) said mail theft is "rampant" in her district and is an issue she's heard about across the country from her colleagues. Postal police officers aren't currently "doing any good being confined to postal property," Norton said.
"The spike in mail crime only reinforces my notion that we need to have postal police go wherever the crime is," Norton said.

If postal police officers began patrolling the streets again, there would be "a better chance of restricting crimes for the Postal Service," said Norton, who is a co-sponsor of the House version of the Postal Police Reform Act alongside Reps. Andrew Garbarino (R-NY), Ken Calvert (R-CA) and Bill Pascrell (D-NJ).
Calvert himself lost nearly $10,000 in campaign cash last year because of mail theft, Raw Story first reported.
"I think the bill has a good chance of passing not only because of what we're experiencing in the district but because this issue is nationwide," Norton said.
There's a Senate version of the Postal Police Reform Act, as well, introduced by Sens. Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Susan Collins (R-ME), along with 10 other co-sponsors, including Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD).
“Postal carriers routinely deliver lifelines to Marylanders and others across the country. They should not be left vulnerable to dangerous situations that leave them and mail recipients in potential danger – from theft and the lost items," Cardin told Raw Story in a statement. "This is a growing problem that Congress should address, preferably in partnership with the USPS.”

Weekly Pond Newsletter
We have had such a busy week here at the Pond! Okay, it was mostly today. For some of you in certain time zones, it was ALL today. We hope you got a nap in. We didn't. 🤣
Old Business:
We had our first SPN Rewatch: FanFic Edition chat! And it was fantastic! We chatted for over two hours, guys! And the best news is for people who couldn't make it but still want to participate. We're working on a Google Drive folder full of docs with notes from these chats. Our goal is that everyone can add notes to each doc (as suggestions that the admins will accept to prevent anyone from accidentally deleting someone else's contribution), not just the admins or those who can be at the chats. Look for an announcement post soon with links and details!
Writing Sprint winner! After the rewatch chat, Manta Ray Dean hosted a writing sprint, and @glygriffe wrote the most words! Altogether, the participants wrote almost 1000 words in 20 minutes!!
An SPNFanFicPond Fic Highlight. Last month, @katbratsupernaturalwhore had a birthday, and to celebrate, we gave her the option of having a fic highlighted. Click here to see what fic she chose and read all about it!
Last week's #TweetFicTues prompts were:

New Business:
Admin Stacey has stepped down due to having to be an adult. (Boo hiss adulting sucks!) Life has been busy for her for a while, and she thought things might slow down, but they haven't. We're sad to see her go, and hope she will be able to return to us someday!
Manta Rays in the Discord server. Manta Ray Kat and Manta Ray Dean will be hanging out in the Discord server early this week. Watch out for announcement posts with dates and times coming soon!
Fishing for Treasures: AU weekend. Next weekend is FFT: AU edition here at the Pond! Click here for more information on how to participate!
Online concerts via StageIt: Paul Carella will be holding a couple of concerts later this afternoon/evening and Rob Benedict will join Emme Fitzpatrick on Tuesday. You may know Emma from Richard Speight Jr.'s album, where she co-wrote and sang a couple of tunes. Click here for information and to buy tickets for Paul's shows. Click here for information and to buy tickets for Rob & Emma's show!
Next weekend is Liverpool ComicCon! If you're attending and want to meet up with fellow Pondies, head into our Discord server! We have channels set up for a bunch of cons over the next year where you can ask questions and find other people who will be attending. If you know of an event that we haven't listed, let us know and we'll make a channel for you!
(Divider by @glygriffe!)
That's all for this week! To see all Pond events, and also other SPN-related things like conventions and online concerts, check out our Google calendar! Click here for a static view in Eastern US/Canada time (desktop only, no mobile app access, sadly), and click here to add our calendar to your own Google calendar! We try to keep it as up to date as possible. If there's something you want to see on the calendar that's not there (maybe a convention we missed, or cast birthdays, or something similar), send us an ASK and let us know!
Hope you have a great week! - From your Admins and Manta Rays, @manawhaat, @mrswhozeewhatsis, @mariekoukie6661, @thoughtslikeaminefield, @katbratsupernaturalwhore and @heavenssexiestangel!

How to Talk to Users and Validate Their Ideas: A Founder’s Guide
One of the most critical aspects of building a successful startup is maintaining a direct connection with users. Many founders fall into the trap of making assumptions, believing they already understand their users' needs. However, the best way to ensure a product’s success is by actively engaging with users, listening to their feedback, and validating ideas before making major decisions.
In the video, the speaker emphasizes that good founders avoid middlemen and prioritize direct conversations with users. This allows for unfiltered feedback, providing real insights into what users truly need rather than what the founder assumes they need.
The Two Core Tasks of a Startup
A founder's job can be boiled down to two essential tasks:
1. Build the product – This involves designing, iterating, and refining a product that addresses a real problem. Without continuous improvement based on feedback, a product may fail to gain traction.
2. Talk to users – No product exists in a vacuum. Understanding users’ pain points, behaviors, and motivations helps shape a solution that truly provides value. The best founders spend as much time talking to users as they do building their products.
Rob Fitzpatrick’s Mom Test provides a simple yet powerful framework for conducting effective user interviews:
Talk about their life, not your idea – Instead of selling your idea, ask users about their experiences and struggles related to the problem you’re trying to solve. Be specific, not hypothetical – Avoid vague questions like "Would you use this?" Instead, ask, "Tell me about the last time you faced this issue." Listen more, talk less – The purpose of the conversation is to gain insights, not to convince users that your idea is great.
When founders ask leading questions or focus too much on their idea, they risk getting misleading answers. The Mom Test ensures conversations remain objective and focused on real user needs.
How to Conduct a User Interview Effectively
Conducting a great user interview isn’t just about asking the right questions; it’s also about structuring the conversation effectively. Here are some best practices:
1. Prepare before the session – Define your objectives and what you hope to learn.
2. Choose the right interview method – Whether face-to-face, over the phone, or through surveys, select the approach that best suits your target users.
3. Use a discussion guide – This keeps the interview structured while allowing room for flexibility.
4. Encourage honest responses – Make it clear that there are no right or wrong answers.
5. Ask open-ended and follow-up questions – Encourage users to elaborate on their answers rather than giving simple "yes" or "no" responses.
6. Observe behavior – Sometimes, how a user reacts or behaves speaks louder than their words.
7. Minimize note-taking – Staying engaged in the conversation leads to better insights.
8. Pay attention to non-verbal cues – Tone, expressions, and hesitation can reveal underlying thoughts.
9. Keep an eye on time – Avoid dragging interviews too long.
10. Summarize key points at the end – Recap the main takeaways to ensure clarity and confirm your understanding.
Why Talking to Users Matters
Many startups fail because they build products without real validation. By maintaining a constant feedback loop, founders can prevent wasting time and resources on features that don’t matter. Talking to users regularly also fosters trust and engagement, leading to better user retention.
Startups that embrace continuous learning through user conversations are more adaptable. Instead of launching a product and hoping it succeeds, they refine their approach based on real-world feedback.
Talking to users is not just a one-time task—it’s an ongoing process that defines successful startups. Founders who listen, adapt, and iterate based on real user experiences build products that genuinely solve problems. By applying The Mom Test and structuring interviews effectively, founders can uncover valuable insights that lead to better decision-making, stronger products, and ultimately, greater success.
