🚀 ACNH Space Enthusiast Set 👽
52 items | Sims 4, base game compatible - As usual, all original swatches included with lots of extras added by me! ☺️💗 Not all items are from ACNH. Please keep in mind some of the items are high poly if you have an older computer. The mooncake plate item is going to be shared publicly on my Tumblr today, since it is a cultural related item for a soon upcoming holiday.
Type “ACNH Space” into the search query in build mode to find quickly. You can always find items like this, just begin typing the title and it will appear.
Always suggested: bb.objects ON, it makes placing items much easier. For further placement tweaking, check out the TOOL mod.
Use the scale up & down feature on your keyboard to make the items larger or smaller to your liking. If you have a non-US keyboard, it may be different keys depending on which alphabet it uses. (The launch pad item is made smaller like the models, so it can be upscaled to fit. Other items like the UFO are made larger and can be down scaled the same way.)
I hope you enjoy!

Arriving Miami
@rickv-786
K parked his Wrangler at the edge of the beach promenade. The air was hot and humid, a stark contrast to the dry and cold desert nights he was used to for the past few months. He picked up Vice’s card from his pocket, confirming the location of this new guy that had sparked some curiosity in him. “Too much stuff in common to ignore.”, he thought, as he flicked his cigarette bud through the Jeep’s window.
“Alright buddy you’re gonna have to wait here.” He said to Boy, leading the small robotic animal to the back of the car and covering him with an old blanket. “Not sure if they allow you inside the club. Not sure they’ll even allow me either.” He chuckled. He locked the car in the digital control panel and walked towards the Venusian.
“God, so much fucking neon everywhere...”

S.A.M by "Bill" (1978). "S.A.M (Short for "Sentient, Autonomous Mechanism" or "Smart Ass Machine", depending on his (and my) mood on a given day, was one of my first real robot projects, started in 1978 when I was around 15. His "brain" was a single-board Z-80 computer (the big square object in the middle of his "back" in this picture), with many bits of TTL I/O, a couple of serial ports, a bunch of counter-timers, and several D/A & A/D channels. The base was taken from the book "How to Build a Computer Controlled Robot" by Todd Loofbourrow - I had built the robot in the book, and had used my KIM-1 to control it. Later, I decided that just a little platform was kind of boring, so I added the upper torso shown here. The torso (mounted on a "lazy-susan" turntable bearing) is rotated by a heavy-duty gear motor driving a chain and sprocket assembly from a bicycle. The base is powered by two of the (apparently no longer available, which is sad) all-metal rubber-tired "motorized wheel" assemblies that Herbach & Rademan used to sell, with a large rubber-tired caster in front. The head platform (mounted on a small "lazy-susan" bearing) was originally rotated by a surplus gearbox from a Mattel "Big Trak" with some rubber-tired wheels mounted on the output shafts. This arrangement was later replaced by a small gear-head motor driving a large gear mounted to the center of the turntable. The device in the head with the tubes sticking out the front is a directional light tracking device. Each tube has a CDS photocell at the bottom, and is painted flat black inside. A comparator circuit tells the computer which direction the brightest light is coming from. This device could also tilt up and down with a small gear-head motor, to track light sources vertically. Most of the circuitry was installed on small plug-boards from Radio Shack, mounted in a card rack below the CPU card. This rack could be tipped back 90 degrees to facilitate easier access for testing. In addition to motor driver circuits, there was a "Sweet Talker" speech synthesizer board so he could talk. Power came from a large "gel-cell" marine battery (for powering trolling motors on boats), which was slung near the ground in the center of the base. Two 6V lantern batteries (later replaced by a 12V motorcycle battery) provided separate power for the electronics. All motors were isolated from the electronics via relays and/or opto-isolators. After these pictures were taken, a set of metal panels was installed on the "facets" of the base, with lever switches behind them for collision sensing. A Polaroid sonar range-finder was also added later. If you check out the other photos of S.A.M., you will notice an "arm" sticking out the front. This was a prototype made from an old swing-arm desk lamp and some "fingers" from a robot hand design using brass tubing, bicycle chain, and 1/16" steel cable to allow natural bending of each finger. It was later replaced with a much heavier duty aluminum framework arm operated by two 12VDC linear actuators." – My Home Robot Projects, by Bill.

Homestuck: Beyond Canon (reactions pages 626 - 637)
This has GOT to be my favorite Homestuck^2/Beyond Canon update so far.
I've always loved the potential of what Jake COULD become and this update really makes some amazing strides to that. I love that he manned up against Jane and showed her how a bad mother she's been and that he somehow did not blow his rebellion cover (which I really thought the update was leading to at first, psyche!).
On the other hand, Jane did reveal now that she realized Jake was gone for a while and stayed with John, while earlier she did convincingly pretend she didn't know he was gone at all. Could it be she IS aware or at least suspects him of spying for the rebellion?
What if the story about the laser on the moon is fake and she just wants to see if the rebellion takes the bait so she knows how Jake's allignment really is?
In any case, I'm so happy to see Jake's fully convinced himself here that he can't let Jane win. The question is just, what is he going to do about it?
I assume he's going to inform the rebellion about the laser, but what else? IS he really going to confront Jane himself? And if so, what will be the result of that? Can he truly kill her, or will he hesitate and will it cost him his own life in the process? :(
I don't know how Jane's response would be to Jake truly confronting her. Would she be horrified in a good way, that she finally realizes she's gone too far and lays her weapons down, or would she just completely flip her shit?
I doubt we're going to get a repeat of the Game Over timeline with both of them dying together (at least I hope not), but I'm really unsure of who will make it out alive here…
God, it would be awful if the upcoming flash is like [S] GAME OVER 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO and basically everyone but the kids end up dead. That's a horrifying thought which I will choose to ignore for now.
Anyway, enough paranoia, back to the awesome stuff!
I'm absolutely AMAZED by the reference to the old snapchats!!! All this time it's been so unclear whether they were supposed to be considered canon or not, and now we know for sure!!
But this changes A LOT! Because it means The Felt is here (already shown in this update), Ms. Paint is here, but also that JACK NOIR is here.
Last time we saw Jack in the snapchats he was both literally and figuratively put on a leash by Jane. Is he still under her control? Is she going to use him as some kind of secret weapon? And if so, in what form? Like, ok, he doesn't have the queen's ring anymore so he's definitely not as powerful anymore as he used to be with those First Guardian powers, but does he have robotic enhancements or has he perhaps gone full crockertier like when Jane was under The Condesce's control?
Brain Ghost Dirk was also absolutely golden in this update. I'm a bit sad about the implications that we're not going to see him again though (at least on Candy Earth, perhaps he will still pop up with Meat Jake).
I mean, yeah, like they said Brain Ghost Dirk is perhaps more Jake than he is Dirk, but he does kind of represent what a truly GOOD Dirk could be. Which made me personally hope that, like briefly happened in the Game Over timeline, Jake was going to make Brain Ghost Dirk truly physically real. But alas, doesn't seem like that's in the cards anymore.
Which also reminds me of how Nannasprite represents what a truly good Jane can be. It would be nice to see Nannasprite again and see Jake interacting with her.
In any case it was nice seeing a bit of the good side of Jane again in this update (hopefully she wasn't faking it of course). Yet, at the same time it's like she's becoming a walking Star Wars reference what with her moon laser (Death Star) and army of clones (Stormtroopers).
I love the detail in Jake's and Brain Ghost Dirk's emerald eyes, it reminds me of some of those panels back in Act 5 Act 2 with the eyes of the kids being shown in close-up.
Also, quick shout-out to the Hiveswap reference there, with Jane speculating about what other kids of Jake could be like! It's nice seeing such a cross-reference. Which reminds me of how I've been speculating that The Point is a portal similar to the one in Hiveswap, except for connecting the Meat and Candy timelines.
Briefly seeing (a living) Gamzee again in this flashback panel, for the first time in Beyond Canon, gave me goosebumps. I've always loved him best when he's SCARY AS FUCK
Finally, not too much attention went to it but for the first time we got to see all 4 kids (Harry, Tavros, Yiffy and Vrissy) together in one panel! That's a very notable milestone.
It's the combination of all these things that make me incredibly in love with this update. This was just so good.
Let me end this post with just one final thought: I'm looking forward SO HARD to 6/12 right now. Bring it ON! :D

Angler Company Epic Dungeon dummy guide for the writer herself
authentic required: at least 130 (best case: 180) cause all maps need 130
setup: go for power setup also if you use space button for something like jumping, consider moving to another button to leave space alone for "circuit" map. also get your brain ready for some headache.
dungeon map type (2 each of these type except boss maps)
Toggle floor
Gundam (sorry gundam fans but it's easy to remember)
Circuit (a few engineers' nightmare haha *sob*)
Robot Boss
Silent Angler Boss (ref from a yugioh card lol)
HIGH POSSIBILITY THAT ALL BOSSES HERE CAN ONLY BE BINDED BY ORIGIN SKILLS AS ERDA NOVA AND ARK'S 4TH JOB BIND CONFIRMED TO NOT WORK.
Type Mechanic Detail
Toggle floor
first kill mobs to gather energy (max 1k) and use npc button at control panel to play a "minigame"
minigame rule: a small robot will walk around. you will need to control platform to have it reach the portal.
platform control: press tab to switch red and blue platform. if the platform is lighted up, the robot can move on it (not lighted up = a hole). 1 toggle cost 20 energies.
if you run out of energy, you will need to exit (by pressing npc button) to gather energy again.
if you want to skip a level (1 map has around 3 levels until you reach final goal), collect 1k energies, access control panel and press shift.
on second toggle floor map, the robot will come with special feature like being blind, invisible for a few seconds, being fast etc.
cheat sheet for someone who wants to clear it by hand: one long platform => toggle floor after the robot goes past the tile you want to turn off and not make a u-turn yet, jumping session => toggle floor when the robot is in midair or right after it jumps (there is a session in both maps that the floor color doesn't change though but others have different color), stack floors => toggle floor (2 times in a second if the floor below is same color) while robot is walking toward goal direction.
Gundam
clear mobs to gather at least 500 energies to unlock a portal. enter it to wear a gundam suit
in suit, hold npc to shoot mobs there also while shooting you can press up and down to adjust shooting angle.
press q to toggle floor (same mechanic as toggle floor type)
getting hit a mob will reduce energy by 10. if suit runs out of energy, you will be kicked out to mobs map.
the suit has stance of 0, so getting hit by a mob can make you fall (flower jumping quest horror)
if you fall, you will be spawned at start line.
toggle platforms are in swapping colors ie. red > blue > red > ... so you will need to toggle floor while jumping to another platform.
once you reach a goal, press npc button for a short while to clear it and enter the portal near the goal.
you will be in a mobs map and a boss will be spawned at the portal. kill it to clear the stage.
boss's only attacks are laser, its range is short but eats half of your hp.
Circuit
first and foremost, switch keyboard to the one that leaves space alone.
you will need to run current to the blue star point at the bottom of the map (the one on top map is the point where current originates)
press space button to create a wire which forced current to it. (basically short circuit). the wire will be created at where you stand and it will connect to the one on the direction you shoot the skill.
also you can hold space and press up and down key to adjust vertical position of the wire.
WARNING: you can’t create wire too close to existing horizontal wire or connector.
you can talk to labora to check whole map. if the circuit is way too messy, you can reset it by pressing tab.
on first map, once you make it. boss's barrier will be gone so burst it down asap. if you can't finish it off in time, its barrier will come back and you have to do it again (change wires, start and end point too)
on second map, if the boss goes down and hits red end point, you can hit it. also, it will also reset whole thing if you can't kill it in time or solve the circuit in time.
Robot boss
boss's mechanic includes homing lasers and kamehameha
homing lasers eat around 25-30% of your hp and will land on you 2-3 times per fire.
kamehameha has 2 types, red and blue. use barrier button to generate barrier OPPOSITE OF the beam color (toggle barrier button again to change color (if first generated is blue, toggle changes to red) or you can just dodge it if you are confident in your damage. (cause i sure don't)
kamehameha consumes around 30-40% of map so you can dodge it by standing on leftmost of the map (there is a warning area along with its color)
if you generate correct color, go take a hit. you won't get damage and energy will be charged up. however, if you failed, you won't be insta-killed (your hp will be decreasing fast so get away from it and heal asap) but your death count will be reduced by 1.
After firing kamehameha and you manage to get some energies, press npc button to enable the gun above after you got some energy to access it. use direction button to control direction of the gun and press shift to fire it. aim at the x mark on the boss to hit it. you can shoot the mark for a few times and each mark hit reduces 2% hp of the boss.
once you successfully hit the marks, the boss will be frozen for a short while which is a nice moment to burst it down.
Silent Angler boss
the boss normal phase has 2 mechanics. laser and mechanical rod
laser aims at player and will lock target and fire after a few seconds.
mechanic rod will target player in vertical and will also hit player in a few seconds. if you got hit by it, your skill will be locked.
the boss body is NOT THE FISH. IT'S AN ORB GOING AROUND THE MAP.
try to deal damage to it as much as possible. if you hit it to the certain level, it will overheat and stay still. if not, it will make a rain of stuffs along with earthquake which deals a bit of damage over time.
also note that, hitting boss will also give you energy which you will need it in next phase.
after overheating or earthquake, barrier phase will begin. the boss will warp to the background and a bunch of mobs will appear. kill it to gather energy to 1k and press npc button on the blue barrier at the middle of map (will appear after a while)
also the rod will appear 2 times at once but in fixed position. if it appears just above your platform, you can duck to dodge it but if it's exactly where you are standing, jump at the right time to dodge it. or you can just move to safe platform (i usually stood on where the barrier is so i just dodged them)
the rods during this phase have less damage but it will also REDUCE ENERGY BY 100.
if you can't activate the barrier in times, the boss will wipe out 2 death counts.
if you fall, you will be spawned on second floor platform. side depends on where you fell. (closest side of where you fell)
tips: the orb moves in U shape and makes a u-turn at top of left and right sides so if your burst skills can hit mobs in vertical direction, hit the orb when it's going up or if your burst skill can hit mobs in horizontal, hit the orb after it comes down and going from or in your direction.
#maplestory#i can't remember buttons well but there is a unique skills panel showing in the screen though#as for binding i use only 3: hexa erda and class (ark 4th job) and only hexa works#dummy guide for writer

🗝️🏷️ second person sci-fi voice, mentions of war
You wake up surrounded by strange machinery and white everything. Your clothes are white, the walls are white, the floor and ceiling and mechanisms are white. You can’t make out anything other than white and shadows.
You don’t know how you got here. You know pieces of who you are, whiffs of knowledge you’ve accumulated over the years, but nothing of substance. You stay sat on the ground for a while, back pressed into pokey bits on the wall. Eventually you move to explore.
It takes time to work out the door, but you do. There are traces of life along this corridor, still white on white as you go. Metallic footsteps almost overshadow the soft noises up ahead.
You come into a larger room, some version of a couch set along the far corner. People are here, some visibly distressed. A set plays cards on the floor. Most are in the basic whites, but there are a few in elaborate personal clothes.
The floor is plush as you enter, and seconds pass between the first eyes on you and the last. Some still face away, but their collective attention has shifted.
They explain that nobody knows how they got here, or where ‘here’ is. The first one out has been here for ages, and the halls are still lined with locked rooms. Your arrival sparks a vigor in the others, and several race into their quarters for supplies.
You’re left with the majority of the small group, standing uncertainly as one whizzes past with something boxy. The next has a cloth package of lock picks. Another holds a single drinking glass.
Not everyone cares to explore, afraid of the unknown or unwilling to work with one of the team members. You follow with the adventurers. Two are arguing with the box, which emits a robotic voice. The one with the glass runs up to a door, the kind that slides up, and holds their cup to the metal to listen.
“It’s too loud,” they say, “the vibrations are stronger here.” There doesn’t appear to be a lock to pick, but that person taps around anyway. They walk briskly away.
The box is still speaking, and it has a name for this area. The string of numbers means nothing to you, but the name is interesting. Like a maritime ship.
The missing teammate returns with a large crowbar. You look wearily at it, but say nothing. They pry open the door. It’s thinner than you expect of something metal, but it makes it easier to coax out of position. The sound is a reverberating squeak.
It’s lit inside. A single swivel chair is fixed to the ground in front of a trapezoidal panel. It’s occupied. You cross without thinking, bending to see if the person is awake. They spook. You spook. The group tenses.
They chuckle, introduce themselves and this room. A control board, switches and buttons and what looks like an airplane’s steering wheel. They trot back to the sitting room.
As the others gather round this oddity, they lazily move back into their hall. With confidence, they stop in front of another door, one on the opposite wall.
It opens. They shuffle in, opening what might be a fridge. Someone comments that they hadn’t known there was a kitchen. You ask about their continues survival, but they just shrug.
You continue to speak to one another, time blurry and the crowd slowly growing. The control person lets slip that this is a ship. They know more than the rest, and frequently reference new information like it’s common knowledge.
Doors open and people come and go between the common areas and their rooms, and more is revealed as time passes. A coms room is discovered, and the talking box drifts up to a shelf. Along it are several more boxes on ports, and this one settles in alongside them.
You learn that this ship is part of a fleet, that the fleet is part of an army. There is unrest, remnants of a war now over. Some remember more than others.
You get to know how these strangers wound up aboard their vessels. Some awoke there as you did, even thought they were alone in their ship. Some were alone. Others knew all along, to varying degrees.
You are not on a ship. The ship is a subsystem, the fleet is a cluster, the war is the trauma. You are an alter, this is a system.
#did osdd#osddid#cdd system#traumagenic system#adaptive system#polyfragmented system#not for endos#it’s just less relevant

Americans are falling behind on their credit card bills (NPR) Nearly one in five credit card users have maxed out on their borrowing, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. People under 30 and those who live in low-income neighborhoods are more likely to be at or close to their credit limit. The debt is a sign borrowers are feeling the strain of rising prices and high interest rates.
Overdose deaths dropped for the first time in five years (NYT) U.S. overdose deaths declined in 2023 by about 3 percent from the year prior, according to federal data released today. Last year’s toll—107,543—was still horrific. But it was the first drop-off in drug fatalities since 2018, when the rates were two-thirds of their current height. The decrease was attributable mostly to a drop in deaths from synthetic opioids, but the report did not offer reasons for the drop. One possible factor is that naloxone, a drug that reverses opioid overdoses, has become more widely available.
Chile’s capital faces fiercest cold snap in decades (Reuters) Chileans are bundling up with more clothes and clutching cups of hot coffee as the country faces the most intense cold snap in nearly 70 years, bringing winter weather in the middle of autumn. “Since 1950, that is, in the last 74 years, we had not had a cold wave as intense as the current one in May,” climatologist at the University of Santiago, Raul Cordero, told Reuters. For Thursday, the meteorological office expected a minimum temperature of 1 degree Celsius (34 Fahrenheit) in the central Santiago area. The change was abrupt—within days of summer heat ending, mountains near the capital had snowy peaks.
A France in Shock Confronts the Violence in Its Midst (NYT) If France is a country of illusions—a beautiful and seductive land offering many of life’s greatest pleasures that sits atop and conceals a crime-ridden, drug-plagued world of violence—then the past week offered a rude awakening to this dual reality. The Olympic flame arrived on French soil last week in the ancient port city of Marseille as a joyous crowd thronged the beautiful harbor. But the flame also arrived in a city whose northern districts are the epicenter of the French drug trade, where 49 people were killed last year and 123 injured in drug-related shootings. The coldblooded killing on Tuesday of two prison guards on a major highway in an ambush that freed Mohamed Amra, a midlevel prisoner being investigated in Marseille for possible ties to a drug-related homicide case, shook France. This, just 85 miles from the capital, was a methodical execution in broad daylight on the main road from Paris to Normandy. Its methods were consistent with the brutality of a booming narcotics market. Senator Jérôme Durain, a member of the Socialist Party and one of two authors of a Senate Committee report on drug trafficking in France that was completed this week, was not shocked by the killing. “The world we found was one of limitless violence involving people, often very young people, who have no conscience and lost all sense of the value of life,” he said in an interview. “This fits exactly.”
In this Spanish town, capitalism actually works for the workers (Christian Science Monitor) At first glance, this could be any industrial factory. Workers wearing protective gloves assemble control panels and heating plates amid the relentless whirring of machinery. Giant yellow robot arms swing back and forth, lining trays with tiny metal parts. But there is a reason that each year thousands of visitors from every continent come to this mountainous Basque landscape to study factories like this one. This is the home of the Mondragon Corp., the world’s largest federation of worker-owned cooperatives. By the end of the day, this floor alone will churn out 30,000 gas valves, destined for stoves worldwide. Yet it is also churning out a radically different vision of capitalism. In a traditional capitalist system, decision-making power and wealth are concentrated in the hands of a few top executives and shareholders. In contrast, Mondragon’s nearly 70,000 members, ranging from floor workers to top executives, are co-owners of their businesses. They have voting power at general assemblies, where they weigh in on company strategy and policy. The income disparity between the highest- and lowest-paid employees in Mondragon’s cooperatives is capped at a ratio of 6-to-1, compared with a typical ratio of 344-to-1 in the United States. (It’s typically 77-to-1 in Spain.) “Here, no one is rich,” says Hugo Montalvo, who works for a Mondragon based in Bergara, a short drive from the town of Mondragón. “But no one is poor either. We’re all in that middle range, earning decent salaries.”
Age no barrier for Italy’s 90-year-old sprint queen (Reuters) Born on Aug. 1, 1933, Mazzenga is one of the unsung stars of Italian athletics, currently holding five world records, nine European records and 28 best Italian performances in various categories of Masters sprinting—competitive races for older runners organised by age group. “I am very happy and satisfied, and also a bit surprised because I didn’t think I went that fast,” Mazzenga said modestly after her record-breaking run on May 5, beating the previous record of 53.35 seconds set by Japan’s Emiko Saito in 2022. Her running career as a Masters athlete, which she kicked off at the age of 53, has been an important comfort for Mazzenga’s later years. “It got me through some difficult times, which of course haven’t been lacking in a life as long as mine,” she said. Her next commitments include the Italian championships starting in June and she has an eye on the world championships in Sweden next year, but Mazzenga joked that she prefers “not to make long-term plans.”
NATO considers sending trainers into Ukraine (NYT) NATO allies are inching closer to sending troops into Ukraine to train the country’s armed forces, a move that would blur a previous red line. Ukrainian officials have asked for help training 150,000 new recruits closer to the front lines, for faster deployment. The U.S. has said no, but the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said today that a NATO deployment of trainers appeared to be inevitable. Under the alliance’s treaty, the U.S. would be obliged to aid in the defense of the trainers if they were attacked, potentially dragging America into the war.
China and Russia reaffirm ties as Moscow presses offensive in Ukraine (AP/Bloomberg) Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked Chinese leader Xi Jinping for efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict at a Beijing summit Thursday, where the two leaders reaffirmed a “no-limits” partnership that has grown deeper as both countries face deepening tensions with the west. Xi said his nation was “ready to work with Russia as a good neighbor, friend and partner with mutual trust,” state broadcaster China Central Television reported Thursday after the pair met in Beijing. China was prepared “to consolidate the friendship between the two peoples for generations to come,” Xi added. Putin described the nations’ cooperation as “one of the main stabilizing factors in the international arena,” according to a video posted on a Kremlin social media account.
Japan, famously polite, struggles to cope with influx of tourists (Washington Post) Japan is proud of its “omotenashi” spirit: Its practice of wholeheartedly caring and catering for guests. But a post-covid surge in tourist numbers, coupled with a weak yen that makes Japan cheaper for many visitors, is pushing Japan’s world-famous hospitality to the brink. One town is installing a huge screen to stop tourists causing traffic jams while they take selfies in front of Mount Fuji. At least one overrun restaurant is reserving Friday nights for locals only. Even the deer of Nara, usually very proactive about coming forth for snacks, have had their fill. This is because international tourists, unable to enter Japan for two and a half years during the covid pandemic, now appear to be making up for lost time. A staggering 25.1 million tourists visited the country last year, marking a sixfold increase from 2022. The influx has been good for the Japanese economy. But, in many popular places, it has not been good for the locals. There have been widespread complaints about overcrowding, litter, and strain on infrastructure.
Pacific countries call for calm as New Caledonia riots continue (AP) New Caledonia’s Pacific neighbours called for de-escalation and a return to dialogue between France and the island territory’s political parties, after a third night of violent riots that have killed four people and led to hundreds of arrests. France declared a state of emergency in New Caledonia that came into force at 5 a.m. local time (1800 GMT Wednesday), giving authorities additional powers to ban gatherings and forbid people from moving around the island. Rioting broke out over a new bill, adopted by lawmakers in Paris on Tuesday, that will let French residents who have lived in New Caledonia for 10 years vote in provincial elections—a move some local leaders fear will dilute the indigenous Kanak vote.
US military says Gaza Strip pier project is completed (AP) The U.S. military finished installing a floating pier for the Gaza Strip on Thursday, with officials poised to begin ferrying badly needed humanitarian aid into the enclave besieged over seven months of intense fighting in the Israel-Hamas war. Fraught with logistical, weather and security challenges, the maritime route is designed to bolster the amount of aid getting into the Gaza Strip, but it is not considered a substitute for far cheaper land-based deliveries that aid agencies say are much more sustainable. The boatloads of aid will be deposited at a port facility built by the Israelis just southwest of Gaza City and then distributed by aid groups.
Hamas Shift to Guerrilla Tactics Raises Specter of Forever War for Israel (WSJ) Seven months into the war, Hamas is far from defeated, stoking fears in Israel that it is walking into a forever war. The U.S.-designated terrorist group is using its network of tunnels, small cells of fighters and broad social influence to not only survive but to harry Israeli forces. Hamas is attacking more aggressively, firing more antitank weapons at soldiers sheltering in houses and at Israeli military vehicles daily, said an Israeli reservist from the 98th commando division currently fighting in Jabalia. Hamas’s resilience poses a strategic problem for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who says a key war aim is the total destruction of the Palestinian Islamist group. Concerns have grown within Israel, including in the security establishment, that Israel has no credible plan for replacing Hamas, and whatever achievements the military has won will be diminished. “Hamas is everywhere in Gaza,” said Joost Hiltermann, the head of the Middle East and North Africa program at International Crisis Group, a conflict-resolution organization. “Hamas is far from defeated.”
Religion Publishers See 'A Good Day' (Publishers Weekly) Holy sales stats! How did religion book publishing roll up revenue numbers markedly ahead of other publishing categories last year, up 7.8% over 2022 according to the Association of American Publishers StatShot report? PW called on CEOs and senior sales executives at eight religion and spirituality houses to ask what's driving the numbers up. Top answer: Bibles, which have been in strikingly high demand and tend to pop in sales whenever things get a bit weird geopolitically. “It’s a different day, and a good day,” says Doug Lockhart senior v-p for sales and marketing for HarperCollins Christian Publishing. He noted Google Analytics showed searches for words such as “Bible,” “Bible studies” and “Bible resources” are up 13% over 2023. Why? “There’s a lot of angst in the world today and people are looking for answers. Everything from the Ukraine War to the Hamas-Israel war to the challenges people have in everyday life” prompts people to ask deep questions and to seek spiritual health, says Lockhart.

Whenever Doctor Eggman was in one of his foul moods, even the bolts in the walls of the control deck seemed to tighten themselves in discomfort. Decoe and Bocoe sat stiffly at their station, sipping their coffee with forced nonchalance.
As for the good doctor, Eggman stood at the central control panel, a heavy scowl etched into his face as his fingers danced impatiently across the console. His eyes were locked onto the monitors above, where grainy underwater footage flickered across the screen. The ocean below, endless and indifferent, had swallowed the island where his prized Whirlpool Manipulation System once stood. Now, nothing remained but twisted steel and drifting wreckage, slowly being picked apart by his scavenger drones.
"Report!" he barked.
The speakers crackled to life with a delay. One of the Egg Pawns, engineered specifically for underwater operations, floated into view.
"Zero sighting on Gemerl, Doctor Eggman," the monotone voice replied through static.
Eggman slammed a clenched fist on the console. "Keep looking!" he snapped. "I invested too much time and resources into constructing him."
The command was sharp and final. He didn't care that the ocean might have claimed the robot for good—he wouldn't accept that. He wouldn't allow himself to believe that Gemerl, his most sophisticated design since Metal Sonic, had been reduced to scraps.
Decoe dared a glance toward his companion, his voice barely above a whisper. "Doctor Eggman sure wants to get Gemerl back."
Bocoe gave a small nod, his own voice hushed and uncertain. "There's no way he survived that explosion."
Eggman paid no mind to their chatter, absorbed completely by the images on the screens. His face remained carved in fury, a mixture of obsession and disbelief twisting his features.
He had poured weeks into Gemerl. Weeks of engineering, testing, recalibrating every mechanism to perfection. And now it might be gone, reduced to nothing because of those interfering pests. First, they took his weather system and now they might've taken his prized robot, too. His temples throbbed at the thought.
It felt like everything was slipping out of his grip. One betrayal after another. Metal Sonic, once his most loyal weapon, had turned against him. Omega, another of his former machines, now aligned with his enemies. And then there were Shadow and Rouge, whose allegiances were growing murkier by the day. Once wild cards, they now fell into step with Sonic's mismatched crew a little too often for Eggman's comfort.
The thought of Sonic and his insufferable friends working together—gaining ground, winning—made his blood boil. Eggman could almost hear their laughter echoing in his head, mocking every plan he'd built, every loss he'd suffered.
But he wouldn't give in. Not while there was a chance that Gemerl could still be found. His eyes narrowed, and his jaw tightened. If he had to turn the entire ocean inside out, he would. That robot was his. His creation, his property, his triumph.

Synopsis: Having been given life by the Creation Matrix, Jetfire goes through the secret Rite of the Autobrand, officially marking him as a member of the Autobot Army. He then takes Jetfire on a tour of the Ark, showing him Ratchet's repair bay, where many of the Autobots ranks lay deactivated, with resources low Ratchet, is hard pressed as to when -- if ever -- he's succeed in reviving his fallen comrades. They next pay a visit to Wheeljack who is making an attempt to copy the memory engrams of five Autobot warriors that have been in status for the past four billion years into new bodies. The process is a complete success and Grapple, Hoist, Smokescreen, Skids, and Tracks are reborn. With the exception of Grapple, the other new Autobots are taken on a tour of Earth by Bumblebee so that they can learn Earth's customs and of the unique life forms that live on the planet.
While out at sea, G.B. Blackrock has been given the assistance of the Intelligence and Information Institute and the military to free his oil drilling platform from Decepticon control. Aboard the rig, Starscream, Thundercracker and Skywarp have been waiting for weeks to hear word back from Shockwave. Starscream has grown fed up of waiting and is about to act on his own when suddenly Shockwave arrives with a device that will allow them to transform the oil-rigs oil supply into Energon cubes that they can use. Creating as many as they can before the military battleships can engage them, the Decepticons flee and detonate an Energon Cube to use it's blinding explosion to cover their escape.
In Portland, Bumblebee leads the Autobots into town and has them initiate new disguise features to further help them blend in on Earth: Panels that cover their Autobot insignias and inflatable decoys to make it appear that humans are driving them. They stop to fill up at a Blackrock Gas Station, where Skids becomes interested in the Brick Springhorn music that is playing on the radio and learns from the station attendant that there is a concert in town that's happening. Bumblebee charges everything on the Blackrock Gold Card provided to them by G.B. Blackrock in return for the Autobots freeing his Aerospace Plant from Decepticon control. Stopping at a fast-food restaurant's parking lot, Bumblebee gets a radio call from Optimus Prime. Prime reports that G.B. Blackrock has gathered intelligence that the Decepticons might be using a device to capture sonic energy in the vicinity and warns them to be on the lookout.
While in Washington D.C., III agent Walter Barnett is brought before the director about the rash of robot sightings all over the country. He charges with Barnett with a seemingly impossible task: With no way of stopping the robots, they must come up with a plausible hoax to ease public hysteria regarding the problem.
Back in Oregon, Bumblebee and the others follow the coordinates that Prime has sent them to where the Brick Springhorn concert is taking place. Crashing the gates the Autobots lay low until security leaves their "empty vehicles" alone to investigate. When they notice a distinct lack of quality in the music, Bumblebee spots a strange device over the concert stage that is absorbing the sonic energy from the music. He and Hoist drive backstage where Hoist snaps the devices cable. This prompts Starscream, Skywarp and Thundercracker to burst out of the ground and attack.
The Autobots transform into their robot modes and fight off the Decepticon attackers. However, their battle puts on the scaffolds at risk of falling on the band prompting Hoist to make hasty repairs. He asks Brick and his band to keep on playing so as to not cause hysteria and make the concert goers think that it is part of his show. Bumblebee meanwhile goes down into the cavern below and finds the device and a pile of Energon Cubes. He is startled by Shockwave who flies up into the air transforming into space gun mode. Before Shockwave can fire a single shot, Bumblebee tosses up an Energon Cube into his line of fire. The resulting explosion knocks the four Decepticons out of the arena. With the Decepticons defeated, the five Autobots return to their vehicle modes and make a hasty retreat.
On their way back, Bumblebee and the others run into Optimus Prime and the other Autobots rushing to the location. Learning that Bumblebee and the others have succeeded in stopping the Decepticons, they all turn around and head back to headquarters.

“Are you sure this is the way?” Bucky groused quietly, gripping the glock as he peeked around the corner. There wasn’t anyone or anything there and he jerked his head at Sam to follow.
“Redwing doesn’t lie. It senses a heat signature about five yards from here,” Sam replied, his finger glancing over the control on his forearm. Bucky rolled his eyes, making Sam chuckle. “You can trust technology, Cyborg,” he teased.
“Wakanda technology is a bit more reliable than whatever made that thing,” Bucky responded with a slight shake of his head.
“Hey, don’t knock Redwing,” Sam stated, acting slightly offended. “I’ll have you know Stark designed him.”
“Again, Wakanda is more reliable. Maybe I should have a talk with Ayo about getting a new and improved version,” Bucky muttered as he made his way down the hallway. “You know five yards from here is straight through that wall where your pretend bird is hovering?” Sam looked up from the control, his brows knitting together as he looked at the drone and it made Bucky smile. “I’ll go right if you go left, whoever gets there first radios.”
“Barnes, I don't think–”
“Whatever, I’ll see you on the other side then,” Bucky interrupted and turned to go down the hall. He could hear Sam curse but he could hear his footsteps going down the opposite way. The building was pretty basic design, set up like most science facilities Bucky had roamed through in his past life: one hallway splits to wrap around center rooms before turning back to one again to a center room. His super soldier hearing could hear the slight hum of computers and very faint clicking of what sounded like keys on a keyboard. He didn’t see Sam when he turned the corner and radioed him to let him know he was in position. The reply was one curse and warning of Bucky not to go in without him which made Bucky roll his eyes, but he waited. He lowered his weapon and leaned against the wall, his ears perked to any noise that was coming from the room: only the clack of computer keys and the occasional mouse click.
“You move pretty fast for an old man,” Sam jeered, his eyes back down on the control panel and moved his finger over the screen, making the robotic bird quietly trill by Bucky’s ear and around the corner of the doorway. “Some person in a black suit and...four eye goggles?” Sam pulled a face and looked up at Bucky, who in turn just shrugged with a nonchalant look.
“Fought worse,” he replied, lifting his gun up as he readied himself to go around the corner. He took a tentative step around the corner and he could hear Sam readying himself to follow. Bucky’s eyes roamed around the room: desks with computers filled the space, but only one was on. Sure enough, there was a thin framed person clad in black from head to toe, wearing greenish goggles that indeed had four lenses.
“Stop what you’re doing,” he called out, his gun trained on what he hoped was an actual person and not an alien or monster of sorts (he had his fill for his lifetime). “We’ll go easy on you if you cooperate.”
The person hesitated for a moment, looking over their shoulder and Bucky could hear a sigh of exasperation being let out before their attention returned to the screen. He heard three clicks from the mouse before the person turned around and faced him and Sam. The four lens goggles made his nose crinkle in confusion before raising his gun higher.
“We don’t want to hurt you,” Sam called from behind him, and Bucky forced himself not to roll his eyes. Sam was irritatingly good at being like Steve.
“Ty chertovski shutishʹ,” the person groaned and reached behind their back to pull out two batons that gave a faint glow of red. Bucky’s eyes raised in surprise as he cocked his head, his grip loosening a bit.
“Yëzhik?” he whispered, lowering his gun, “is that you?”
The person tilted their head slightly, hesitating at his words before they started to run towards them, swinging a baton at Bucky. His flesh hand came up and gripped the baton, wincing as bolts of electricity coursed through his hand and up his arm, making him curse.
“Yëzhik, stop,” he growled through clenched teeth, “Stop it.” The person kicked him hard in the chest, sending him staggering backwards. He could hear Sam rushing forward, speaking words that would probably make Steve proud, but the masked person backhanded the baton across his face, followed by what Bucky knew was a widow’s bite.
“Bucky, if you know this person, you might want to try to get them to knock it the fuck off.” Sam grunted as another kick landed against his side, making him fall to his knees. The baton made a sickening crack as it came across Sam’s face again. Bucky shook the shock off of him and ran towards Sam’s attacker, his arms wrapping around the small frame, pinning their arms down to their side.
“Enough Yelena,” Bucky growled in the ear of the attacker, holding them tightly against his chest. The person struggled, wiping their head back, which connected with his nose, but Bucky kept his grip, letting out a string of curses in Russian. An elbow connected with his ribs before the person turned their wrist, sending volts of electricity through his body which made him lose his grip on them. His hand reached for the black mask, pulling it off the person’s head, revealing a blonde woman with narrowed blue eyes.
“Yëzhik,” Bucky grunted, hand moving to his nose and winced when he realized it was broken, “Natasha got you out. Why are you–”
“I’m not your yëzhik, Soldat. Haven’t been since you left,” she spat back, her eyes shifting between him and Sam, and Bucky knew she was trying to access a way out. “You've been gone too long to call me that anymore.” She huffed out a breath and blew a stray flaxen strand out of her face.”
Bucky sensed her movement before she realized and caught her ankle as she tried to jump upwards to the vent above. He yanked her down, letting her land on the floor with a heavy thud and stood over her.
“You were always a little shit, you know that?” Bucky sighed, his foot connecting with her hand as she drew a small knife, kicking the blade away from her grip. “And always thought you could take me one on one.”
“I broke your nose,” she countered, her body moving to slip from under him, but his hand gripped the back of her suit and yanked back, giving Sam an annoyed look.
“Only because I didn’t want to kill you.”
“Because you knew it was me.”
“Damn right. Think Natasha would come back from her grave and haunt my ass if I killed her sister after I promised her I would try to find you after what happened in Wakanda.”
“Well, I was dust,” she spat out, spinning again to try to loosen his grip, but it failed. “Would you let me go mudak?”
“Chert vozʹmi, yëzhik, ty ne mog by prosto ostanovitʹsya i pogovoritʹ?” The Russian had her still for a moment, her face softening slightly as she sighed. Bucky knew better than to let go of her, knowing all of her tricks as he was one of her teachers all those years ago. Sure enough, after a few seconds she tried to run. “You never listen, do you. You can trust us, trust me. Please,” he said softly. He let her go then, she turned to him and shook her head slowly.
“I don’t trust anyone anymore, brat,” she replied evenly, “there’s no one left to trust. You left, Natasha left. I cannot find my parents. Contract work is easy. No strings, no attachments.”
“So you went back to being a Widow,” Bucky countered, his hand coming up and waving along her body.
“I have my own mind now,” she spat back, “I didn’t have that until another freed me.”
“Yelena, c’mon, Sam and I can help you.”
“Wait, what?” Sam replied quickly, stepping towards Bucky, “we can’t trust every Russian we happen across because you might have a history with them.”
Bucky furrowed his brows at his teammate and gave him a look of disgust. “She was like a sister to me,” he replied at the same time as Yelena pulled a face and made a gagging sound.
“Seriously, you two, I’m good. Espionage and being a ghost is kind of my thing,” Yelena added, taking a step backwards, “but, uh, if you see Kate Bishop around, tell her to call me. Would like to have some coffee with her.”
“Who’s that? You’re girlfriend?” Sam smirked, turning towards the blonde.
“I don’t date, Barnes can tell you that,” she smiled, her face almost soft when she looked at Bucky. “It’s been good boys, and great to meet your boyfriend, brat, but, um, I think it’s best we don’t do this again.” She jumped up and gripped onto the vent before pulling herself up into it.
“So, that was Natasha’s little sister?” Sam asked, looking up where she disappeared.
“Yeah,” Bucky sighed, hanging his head.
“And she still had whatever she stole on her?”
“Yup.”
“And we aren’t going after her?”
Bucky looked at Sam and clenched his jaw. “No. We’re going after whoever is making her do this.”
