Summary: Ryan attempts to sneak out and leave but you find him first and get the truth out of him and why he wanted to go. Which ends in comfort and cuddles.

a/n: there's so little Ryan Clarke fics, so I decided to write one

You follow Ryan, as he is currently trying to sneak out of the school. You vamp in front of him when he gets to the door, “And where do you think you’re going?” You asked, sounding as if you were talking to your kid.

Well, you did have to give this same speech last week to MG and Kaleb, so you’ve had good practice, supposedly. Also, from being the closest thing Hope has to a mother (And that can be a handful itself at times).

“Oh y/n, I-I was just, you know going to star gaze-“ you cut him off before he can finish his horrible excuse of a lie, “I’m going to stop you right there before you hurt your case more.” You say, amused by his attempt at getting out of the glare you’re giving his way. You swear he’s been picking up on the excuses all of the kids use to get out of things. They seriously need to brainstorm excuses better, so it at least sounds believable.

“Come on, let’s go back to my room and have a talk.” You lead him up a couple cases of stairs before turning to the right and opening the door to your room. You lead him inside and shut the door, locking it, making sure not to be loud and wake up any of the students, especially the younger ones.

You nod over to your bed, telling him to sit as you rummage through one of your desk drawers. Pulling out a sage stick, casted to make sure no one can hear you guys talk. You start burning it and place it on the top of your dresser, beside a cd player. (Yes, you still use one, you took a lot of Damon’s old cd’s from the 90’s before they rebuilt the boarding house into a school).

Turning back around to face Ryan, you crossed your arms. “Funny thing. When I was checking in on Hope and the twins, making sure they were actually asleep, I heard you coming out of this room and trying to leave before anyone woke up. And where did you think I was, if not in here? I mean come on, at least try and be a little more sneaky next time you ultimately try and fail to sneak out” you lectured him, getting his eyes to widen a bit.

 (The reason you were checking in on the three girls is because they’re all having a sleepover – for once all getting along. You also managed to get Hope to turn her humanity back on by showing her memories of when she was little and of her parents. Mostly her dad because you’ve known him for longer than anyone may think)

“I don’t know, I just thought you were in the library or getting some blood or something” he mumbled out.

“Why did you try to sneak out in the first place? It’s not like we were torturing you.” You question him.

He looks down at your heeled boots, trying to get out from answering the question. If he tells you why, then he’ll look like a-a freak or even worse, too weak to help everyone. But he guesses that ship has already sailed, considering he got caught while trying to leave them.

You see a look in his eyes and walk closer, placing a finger under his chin and gently tilting his head up so he faces you. “What’s wrong?” Gently speaking and softening your face with concern, you ask him.

He thinks about, what is wrong? But decides to shake his head instead, because if you knew what he wants then you will most definitely be disgusted and never talk to him ever again.

He doubts your ways of noticing, and you can see right through him. “You can tell me, no need to be embarrassed” you gently speak to him. “I don’t know, I-I feel, I don’t know. Your gonna think I’m a freak” he murmurs out, going though his feelings in his head and finally slipping up to you.

“I don’t think I will, trust me, I’ve been in much worse situations to think someone or something is freaky” you sit down beside him, crossing your legs. “I mean seriously, have you forgotten about ‘the all mighty Necromancer, the cursed king of the underworld’. Now that dude, he was definitely freaky” You say, making him lightly smile.

Not knowing how to say what he wants to, instead he leans over and hugs you tightly. You pause for a second, not expecting him to do this. Shortly after, you bring your arms up and tightly wrap them around his body in return. Thinking for a second, you realize this makes so much sense. The way he’s been looking at you and how he acts whenever he’s around you, it all pieces together.

“Uh- s-sorry” Ryan stutters out, pulling away from the embrace. His eyes darted to across the room, focusing on a picture of you and Kol at the bar in the mystic grill from when he got un-daggered in 2011, pinned on a cork board.

“Hey, it’s okay, Hun” you start to reassure him. You bring up a hand and place it on his shoulder comfortingly.

“I haven’t ever felt like this before” he mumbles.

“It feels weird, doesn’t it? Like you don’t want anyone to know that you can be vulnerable” you speak softly, soothing him. He nods, “Yeah, exactly like that.”

You slowly pull away from him and sit, leaning against the headboard of your bed. You lightly smile and nod, showing him to come over to you. Carefully moving over towards you, he sits down, nervousness taking over.

“No need to feel nervous, Sweetie.” You wrap your arm around him and press a light kiss on top of his head.

In return, feeling the comfort and love radiating off of you (more than he has already), he lays his head on you, nuzzling his head against your collarbone. He can smell the lingering soft scent of your coconut and hibiscus perfume still on from earlier today.

Bringing your other arm up, you also wrap it around Ryan, pulling him closer. Letting him know it’s safe and you’re here for him, even if he hasn’t seemed to realize It before.

Now that half his body is basically on top of you, you start to play with the soft curls of his hair. “I never knew someone like you can be so nice” he tells you quietly.

“A vampire?” he nods. “Well, I’ve had a bunch of practice dealing with Mystic Falls drama. Literally from the start, when vampires were first created. I’ve also had to deal with Hope’s dad and his mask of not needing anyone there for him. And I still have her uncle, Kol that still does stupid shit (he’s the one in that photo you were looking at), but he’s, my family. Just like Hope is. I could never change that” you explain to him.

“So, I’m always going to be here for you. Plus, if an asshole deserves it, I of course send them to death like that” you snap your fingers, making him chuckle. “And maybe sometimes I’ll indulge in some of the killing activities with Kol, but shh” you say, holding a finger up to your lips.

He smiles up at up at you, “I could get used to this, even with that headmaster” he says, referring to Alaric’s aggravating attempts to fix problems his way (which lets be real, never works out).

“Good, just know if you need someone to talk to or even just lay and cuddle with, I’m always here, okay Sweetie?” You reassure him.

“Okay” He says and nuzzles back into the warmth beaming off of you. Happy to be with someone who actually cares for a change.

My thoughts on Seung Hui Cho and Emily Hilscher

Hello everybody, I would like to start this post off by saying I’m very grateful for all the recent attention I’ve been getting on here. I don’t expect much engagement on this post but I want to share my thoughts anyways because it’s a very interesting topic. Today, I will be discussing one of the most popular and creepiest things about the Virginia Tech shooting which is Seung Hui Cho’s “obsession” with Emily Hilscher.

if you are unaware of who Emily Hilscher is, she was Cho’s second murder victim. Emily Jane Hilscher was an 18 year old freshman (born June 2nd, 1988) studying animal sciences at Virginia Tech. She was described as outgoing, friendly and imaginative by friends and family. Many people believe she was the first to die but that was debunked as she was alive for 2 hours before succumbing to her gunshot wounds. One last thing I mention before I start sharing my thoughts, Emily had a 19 year old boyfriend named Karl Thornhill, who was also a gun enthusiast just like Seung Hui Cho. Remember this because he plays a role later.

In earlier VT reports (circa April 2007), it was stated Seung Hui Cho was apparently “crazy in love” with Emily Hilscher and wanted to be in a romantic relationship with her. However, Emily had rejected him and Cho became enraged with her specifically, hence why he targeted her first. Emily’s friends deny these rumours and can’t recall her even being aware of Cho’s existence. It is still a mystery after 17 years if the two really were together or not, which could explain another motive for one of the worst school shootings of all time.

I had heard multiple interpretations of their potential relationship but I will be explaining the story that caught my eye. Reminder: everything I’m about to say aren’t facts and just how the story goes. Unfortunately, I lost the original source material a couple of years ago so a few details might be fuzzy but I’ll try to explain to the best of my abilities.

Cho (around 2006) often visited an animal shelter due to his love for animals, anti animal cruelty and potential veganism. Emily was a volunteer at this same animal shelter and over time she started to talk more with him to which he didn’t say much but listened to what she said. As the months passed by, Cho started to develop a huge crush on her and genuinely believed they were in a relationship. Cho began to stalk her and show up at her doorstep unannounced, he would send her weird messages on Facebook as well. Cho eventually found out she already had a boyfriend and was angry at Emily for “leading him on”. After this, Cho threatens her, makes sexual comments towards her and tries to isolate her from family, friends and boyfriend to which Emily cuts him off entirely. This was around the time he was planning the shooting and decided she would be the first to die for rejecting his advances. On April 16th 2007, his intent was to rape Emily first before killing her but didn’t follow through with that because of Ryan Clark interfering. He didn’t have enough time and so he just ran off after murdering Emily and Ryan. Many Virginia Tech shooting “fans” either believe Emily was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and that the rumours are bogus or that Cho did had an obsession with her. However, the stories do add up with Cho’s personality and it’s proven he had stalked women multiple times leading up to the massacre. It’s not out of character for both students to meet in an animal shelter, Emily was a kind person and would’ve felt bad for Cho since he was a loser with no friends. The only thing really stopping people from believing these rumours are Emily’s friends claiming she never talked about a “Seung Hui Cho”. Law enforcement couldn’t find any evidence to hint Emily knew Cho.

I’m in no way saying Emily’s friends are 100% lying but female victims of stalking by men are usually afraid to speak about the abuser to family and friends. She might’ve never mentioned him to her friends because Cho was clearly a mentally disturbed and dangerous man. There are many other reasons why Emily potentially could’ve stayed quite about her relationship with Cho which include fear of being judged/not believed or guilt. It also makes sense Emily’s friends DID know but didn’t want to make themselves apart of this whole thing. Being questioned in even some connection to a school shooting is terrifying, so I don’t blame them too much if they did really know and were just lying.

Cho was quite familiar with the WAJ hall area as we know, he had a previous stalking allegation from a woman that lived in that same building (November 2005). However, I need to acknowledge the other side’s arguments, Cho easily could’ve just saw Emily that morning walking to her dorm room and decided to kill her. Cho didn’t have to have a reason other than “practice”, It’s possible Cho never knew her. Something frustrating about this case is that every time you think you know something, there are a billion plot holes that can’t be explained easily. One of my mutuals told me they didn’t think Cho even knew of her existence before April 16th 07 and that it was a random attack. He was also 4 years older than her and was a senior by the time she started her first year. Virginia Tech is a massive school, having a population of over 20,000 students.

Remember when I said to keep Karl Thornhill in mind? Yeah apparently a few people who research this case believe Seung Hui Cho was aware of him as well. Karl Thornhill was briefly a suspect but was quickly ruled out as the shooter, he hasn’t made any interviews about what happened and it’s unknown what he is doing today. All we know about him is that he feels partially responsible for Emily’s murder.

“Karl’s been taking the situation very hard,” said Tori White, 19, a friend of Mr. Thornhill’s family, in an e-mail message. “He kept thinking that if he had just kept her in the car for a minute or two longer she’d still be here. I think he feels a bit responsible, though by no means is it his fault.”

The theory I personally believe, is that Cho was aware of her but she wasn’t aware of him. I believe Cho did like her but didn’t know how to express it, his previous love interests were either random girls he was stalking or completely made up in his head (Yes, I am looking at Jelly..).

Cho couldn’t take rejection and presumably wanted to have sex before he died, he hired a prostitute to dance for him but never actually had sexual intercourse with her. The woman claimed Cho was even “bored” during the session. Seung Hui Cho in general, is a very contradicting person and doesn’t make much sense even to someone who has been researching him for years at this point. We will never truly know what the hell was going on in his head and there’s such a lack of answers in the whole case. Obviously you don’t like to question people who lost a good friend, but VT university covers up so much stuff about this event that it’s hard not to. There really wasn’t much reasons for Emily to lead Cho on, considering she was in a seemingly perfect relationship with Karl. The two always cuddled on the couch watching movies on Sunday nights and were high school sweethearts.

In April 2012, this idea of Cho being obsessed with Emily was revisited in “Massacre gunman's deadly infatuation with Emily” written by The Standard. Emily apparently wrote on her MySpace page "I live, love and get booted (high, stoned or drunk) but eventually that will change... I now have a wonderful guy who is hopefully going to change all of that." somewhere before October 2006.

Liviu Librescu has been awarded for his heroism and talked a lot about outside of those weird Virginia Tech shooting forums online. However, I still believe Emily is arguably the most important victim of them all because she brings up a whole conversation of misogyny. I’m not saying Cho was 100% an incel or that was why he killed her, nor am I saying the other 31 lives didn’t matter as much because of course they do.

I think it’s important for women not to get involved with controlling, mentally ill men like Seung Hui Cho, it never ends well and your life always comes first. Poor David Corenswet. When he took up the mantle of Superman - his dream role, one that suited his Clark Kent look down to a T - he hadn't realised it would mean being subjected to DC Studios' anti-spoiler training. Thanks to rumours of various Hollywood stars being tickled ruthlessly by some vigilante for info on their upcoming movies - Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Ryan Gosling to name a few - DC had apparently made retaliative training madatory for male stars.

A few weeks before shooting David was instructed to strip to his underwear and kneel on a raised padded plinth, while his wrists were cuffed to two straps dangling from the ceiling, raising his bare arms out and up. His ankles were cuffed to the edge of the plinth, a process that made him snicker in and of itself. He hummed nervously as his manager and assistant left him in the hands of the instructors, three lithe men a few years older than him who stalked towards him, fingers wiggling and feathers wafting.

He gulped.

An hour later, in one of his two minute breaks, he panted desperately.

"Guys, guys, please, I don't think I'm getting less ticklish. I don't think that's even how that works! If anything it's getting worse! Can we pause, let management know? Please?" He gulped in more air, wiggling his toes to try and dissipate the phantom sensations of the hairbrush on his soles. "I'm not sure how much more of this shit I can take."

One of the instructors raised and eyebrow. "Really? That's not good, David. At this rate imagine how quickly you'd spill top secret plot points to that lunatic out there. No, we've got lot more work to do on you, pal. But don't worry. We'll go as easy on you as he would."

The men picked up their tools again and assumed their positions, two at his torso and legs and one dedicated to his oiled bare soles.

David sagged in the bondage, dreading what would come next. "Can you just not focus so hard on that spot in my pits. It's fucking torture, man, torture. Anywhere but there."

The instructor smiled apologetically, hovering his deft fingers directly over the death spots. "Sorry, Dave. If the lunatic found that spot he certainly wouldn't let up. He'd tickle there until you pissed yourself, until you were promising him your life savings if he'd just stop. It's for your own good."

how would you rewrite season 2 and onwards of the oc?

hey, thanks so much for this ask! I've gotten a few asks before about what I'd do to change S3, but not S2! It's a fascinating question!

For starters, I think I'd go back and change two intertwined plot developments in late S1 that set up some of the weaker plotlines of S2: Marissa being forced to live with Julie and Caleb flipping Sandy and Jimmy's restaurant. Marissa being blackmailed to live with Julie always infuriates me as a plotline because it totally strips the character of any agency and also it makes no sense legally - children of divorced parents have legal rights over which parent they get to live with, and the whole thing is just transparently a ploy by the writers' to force Marissa into a miserable situation. There are other ways to keep Marissa and Julie in conflict without literally entrapping her - money could still be an issue between them, as well as how much time Marissa chooses to spend with Julie (and Caleb) and Marissa's various relationship dramas, etc.

Also, Jimmy running the Lighthouse as a successful Newport restaurant would actually give the character something to do! He wouldn't be *rich* rich, but he'd have some income and a purpose and it would be an organic way to keep him on the show and have him actually be a parent to Marissa. And you could have all these adult-related plot hijinks around the restaurant...I always thought Tate Donovan and Melinda Clarke had *great* chemistry, so I want to keep Jimmy around so he and Julie can eventually figure things out again...when Caleb inevitably dumps Julie they can be poor together. Maybe the Lighthouse fails in S3 and they all go live in the trailer park together.

I would not make Lindsay Caleb's love child and instead just have her be this normal nerd girl whom Ryan dates. I would also have Marissa and Seth spend more time together before Seth starts hooking up with Alex, and show them actually being friends. As for the Alex/Marissa storyline, I think the build-up is pretty good, but I would have them date for a few more episodes before breaking up, so it wouldn't feel so rushed. And I would make the break-up less about Ryan and more about the fact that Marissa still wants to be a part of Newport society when Alex doesn't.

I think I would still bring Trey back but I might not do the sexual assault plotline, or if I did, I would handle it *much* differently. And I think I would keep Kirsten struggling with alcoholism but would cut the whole Sandy/Rebecca storyline, because that whole drama felt very forced and pointless to me. But I like the idea of Sandy operating his own practice.

Having read the book, I think Schwartz and Savage were right that killing off Caleb left a hole in the show, because he was a great "hinge" character that fit into so many different storylines and contexts...I think I'd find another way to break him up with Julie and try to keep the character around. Although at the same time, if handled correctly (which the show doesn't really), his death does make for a substantive plot development that leaves all the characters reeling. And there are only so many times you can say "Caleb is secretly poor" because the consequences of his financial mismanagement actually catch up to him...so either you kill the character or actually see him lose all his money, but I think the fun part about Caleb is that he's dramatic and rich. Maybe he moves away to expand the business and is bumped down to a guest star for S3.

I imagine all these changes would ripple through S3 but I basically pretend the season doesn't exist so I can't really map it out specifically...obviously I'd dispense with Newport High and Johnny and all that nightmarish contrived drama.
