He’s not sure what exactly he’s expecting, only that his subconscious is screaming at him that it has to be heartbreaking, that it has to be torturous.

Instead, what Donnie is subject to is a full thousand hours’ worth of Jupiter Jim and Lou Jitsu crossover fanfiction. More than one part in the series. Spanning well over a million words.

Finished this video game concept a few months ago to apply to Uni, using one of my already existing stories.

I really do hope I get to work on this further in the future, even if “just” in comic form. The content is close to my heart and relates to my own experience with depression, suicide and psychosis / the schizophrenia spectrum. Maybe it could help others find more empathy within themselves for their younger past selves.

I actually got the very first spark for this story back in… 2017? 2018? It’s insane how much has changed, it really does feel like it gained a mind of its own. Jane was originally the protagonist with a whole lot more curses involved. For a hot second it was even set in a magical boarding school! Imagine that!

Game in general is inspired by Silent Hill 2, The Cat Lady and What Remains of Edith Finch. If I gave this another try I’d definitely include more fake screenshots.

Hello, all horror and The Sims 2 lovers! It’s been a while since the premiere of the final episode of Esoteric Relation and I’d like to introduce you to my favourite monster: Dragonfly.

I knew something had to get in the way of the characters. Originally, the script featured a pile of furniture blocking their path, but that soon felt a bit absurd. Eventually, I realized that bringing the monster into their world would be far more impactful. Early sketches were pretty clumsy — the one on the right is over 15 years old, and back then the character was simply called the Grim Reaper.

The final concept was a patchwork of a few ideas that stuck in my mind. The monster had to be blind but highly sensitive to blood, so the Pale Man from Pan’s Labyrinth was one of the first inspirations. It also needed to block their path, which is why I added robes floating around the room like a spider’s web. These robes come directly from his body, like a thin layer of skin. I also gave him a cut on his back to make him a bit creepier. That idea was inspired by Aether, one of the elementals from the game Ghost Master.

The monster also has a somewhat more human body (because I’m lazy), which may remind you of one of the covers from Ibn El Leil by Mashrou' Leila. I looked up the title, and it literally translates to "Son of the Night." The last inspiration comes from the long robes trailing on the floor — that’s Vladimir Harkonnen from Dune.

I had no idea they'd eventually come together as a single monster made from all those concepts. I also didn’t even remember that everything was supposed to take place at night — the script originally said it would be daytime. So something had to create a strong backlight. I ended up simply replacing it with the moon, and that gave the scene a magical effect that I really liked.

Why You Should Consider Link Being a Silent Protagonist:

Silent Protagonist ≠ always no dialogue

Silent protagonist does = minimal dialogue, grunts, sparse moments of communication, or no dialogue at all. It’s a spectrum.

Mute people are relatable beings you can empathize with

Quiet people are relatable beings you can empathize with

Link is narratively described as quiet and has story reasons for being reserved in the 2 latest iterations of Mainline Zelda and its part of his character development that he opens up and DOES speak more. It’s literally acknowledged in the most popular zelda title (BOTW).

Let me reiterate- its part of his character to say very little or to have story reasons for not speaking up at first!

Link is silent in EOW for Plot Reasons, pointing to this being a possibility continual in plot recognition

Link is pointed to as THE example of silent protagonist outside of like, Gordon Freeman. Nintendo literally is acknowledging that in its most recent and popular zeldas.

The movie will draw a lot of inspiration from BOTW and TOTK and you would be in denial if you thought elsewise

Childrens cartoons, blockbuster action movies, art house films, comics, games, and more have characters who chirp their name more than speak or barely speak at all

Some of the most Lucrative characters in media fall into this category and some would argue make more money than any plot or franchise. R2D2, Chewie, and Grogu are a HONEYPOT and Lucas could probably speak ad nauseam about this if he wasn’t busy weeping about how he’s not getting all of it

Young children’s media does not rely on a lot of words to convey concepts

His Windwaker Design is literally inspired by kids cartoons and animation that relies on emotion not words

As a person who spent decades studying children’s media I can tell you kids respond to action and story that relies on physical acting, facial emotions, cause-and-effect, observation, and may things that do not need words

Samurai Jack, Grogu, Chewie, R2D2, Snoopy, Gromit, Pikachu, Groot, Boomhaur, Onion, Schnitzel, Animal, the Minions, Silent Bob, Driver (from drive), Mad Max (fury road), are all examples of popular characters who chirp, babble, or barely speak and people love the piss out of them

Movies started without audio and again the foundational concepts of most storytelling in movies happened *without dialogue at first*

Physical acting is a theatrical medium that both adults and children respond positively to

Physical acting is the foundation of fight scenes, chase scenes, stunts, and action in general- things that will be highly features in this movie

Animation, Illustration, and Visual story telling LIKE MOVIES is based on *showing, not telling* for 90% of its time.

James baxter, norman rockwell, charlie chaplin don’t need words to carry bankrolls and make you piss yourself in tears. James Dean also inspired an entire hollywood casting standard based on *staring in vibes*

Some of the most emotionally grappling movies and moments in cinema come from no dialogue in the mix. Up is still fucking you up, and the Piano is a rollercoaster of turmoil because of its silent protagonist. There is literally a No Dialogue cut of Fury Road that fucks and is highly praised

We literally have examples in the GAMES where support characters and other protagonists carry the weight of exposition, conversation, and explanation.

Zelda is right there you twerps, she can do the talking even if she is not with link physically. We literally have examples of this in game too. Midna is also right there, carrying the stone cold plot of Twilight Princess on her quipped up bitch noggin

This whole conversational point about it being hard or impossible or a bad idea is an insult to writers, illustrators, musicians, actors, directors, editors, stage designers, story boarders, makeup artists, cameramen, dancers, game designers, extras, special effects artists, puppeteers, marketing departments, toy designers, STUNTMEN, comic book artists, Miyamoto, audience members, children, adults, quiet people, mute people & their loved ones, the established zelda lore, link’s OWN DAMN CHARACTER IN CANON, and yourself if you believe that

have a better imagination, you deserve it!

Be more curious & open hearted, you deserve it!

There’s no excuse for him to not be quiet in some way other than “they didn’t feel like it, creatively” which is valid and totally acceptable and not a big deal, and could absolutely result in a wonderful portrayal of Link!

despite knowing what was going to happen, snotlout's redemption and eventual downfall was so so heartbreaking to me. we spend the past 10 books witnessing how much he's tormented and bullied hiccup that we all feel the same anger and frustration and resentment as fishlegs does in the beginning of 11. i was, maybe, even rooting for something a little bad to happen to him so that he can feel even a fraction of the humiliation that he put hiccup through. but time and time again hiccup, with his inherent goodness and wonderful capacity to always try and see the best in people, reminds us that people need and deserve second chances. even third, fourth and fifth chances. even when hiccup was faced with the certainty that snotlout was set on betraying him from the start.

that's why it was so satisfying to get to the emotional catharsis of the swordfight. snotlout practically begging for hiccup to hate him and hiccup genuinely not having it in him to be able to. and even after that, even after he disarms hiccup and is seconds from killing him - he doesn't. and then hiccup comforts snotlout through it. he tells him words that snotlout didn't know he's been desperate to hear. he tells him he's being too hard on himself. he tells him he's a hero. he opens a door inside snotlout's life for the first time in a long time. despite everything, he offers him another choice to join the dragonmarkers. and snotlout accepts. he bows to hiccup, he calls him king, pledges his sword to his service forever, shakes his hand and chooses to bear the dragonmark.

and it's this moment we finally seeing the seeds of change planted in snotlout sprout - instigated by gobber teaching him a lesson in the amber slavelands and reminding him what the black star represents: pride, honour, bravery. all the times we see snotlout give in to vulnerability and ponder on his choices, he's always holding onto it. which makes it all the more symbolic when he hangs it around hiccup's neck during his last act of valour.

just like how the book tells us that the tides can change so fast, through hiccup, my heart was able to give snotlout another chance too. and it's because of hiccup's belief in snotlout's potential for more that makes you feel so strongly about his death. snotlout's excitement at finally being on hiccup's side, at doing what's right, at having the opportunity to actually be a hero - we can't help but feel that burst of pride, we can't help but root for him. and so we feel the loss, as hiccup did. and it's a point driven home when hiccup ends the epilogue with how he’s carried snotlout and his sacrifice with him all throughout his life. and how time has rubbed away at the black star.

that now the star doesn't look black at all. just gold.

Astrid: I wanted to tell you about this party Elias is throwing on Saturday. 

Jude: Ah, at Leon’s famous apartment. 

Jude: How fancy can it really be, Astrid? It takes a lot to impress me.

Astrid: I doubt that. So you'll come? Please tell Jonas.

Jude: Saturday is my birthday, actually. 

Astrid: Ah, so you will finally be an age where it doesn’t feel a bit strange to hang out with you. 

Jude: Not sure if nineteen is any less weird for you than eighteen. 

Astrid: So we will both be nineteen for exactly a month before I am twenty.
