The Haunting of Heatherhurst Hall has you covered!
The Haunting of Heatherhurst Hall is a sapphic gothic romance rife with horror and heartache, wherein an American heiress makes an ill-advised marriage to bring herself closer the woman who’s stolen her heart.
~
American heiress Kit Morgan is heartbroken at the wedding of her dearest school-friend. At her lowest moment, she is rescued from her agonies by the mysterious and alluring Alexandra Cranbrook, sister of a visiting English baronet. Alexandra is beautiful, charming, and effortlessly beguiling. Kit cannot help but fall in love with her.
When Sir Vivian Cranbrook proposes marriage, it seems natural for Kit to accept—if only to live with the woman she desperately loves.
But the Cranbrook’s ancestral home of Heatherhurst Hall is not all it seems. The attic is forbidden. Strange scratching noises echo from within the walls. Wraiths stalk the corridors by night. And worst of all, Alexandra’s love has turned to scorn.
Still, Kit is determined to earn her happily-ever-after and save the Cranbrooks from the horrors of Heatherhurst Hall.
If only she could know Alexandra loved her in return.

WIP WEEKEND!
Alright, this wip weekend I need a real kick to the pants! So, for every ask I'll be writing 25 sentences. You can send as many asks as you like!
My wips:
steddiebeebee
stsapphicbeebee
sapphicseptember
Snippet from steddiebeebee!
“Bathroom?”
The alpha’s voice is a soft, understanding rumble, the fingers in Steve’s hair pet his head gently.
“That obvious?”
He feels grumpy, he doesn’t want to have to get up, or go through the still-strange experience of peeing sitting down. It’s not that he thinks it’s demeaning or anything, just strange, not what he’s used to.
“Alright, up you get, sweetheart.”The care with which his alpha is treating him is a little unexpected still, mostly because he’s never really dared hope for a loving mate. The voice of his Father that’s still firmly lurking at the back of his head is taunting him for being taken in. He ignores it in favor of focusing on his body’s immediate needs.

If you're participating in #sapphicseptember here are the boxes The Hex Next Door would check off. 👻
What’s a little necromancy between family?
For the Crow Witch, Icarus “Rus” Ashthorne, Moondale seemed the perfect hiding place. But like they always say, you can’t go home again, and Rus finds out quickly that nothing is how she remembered, while at the same time very little has changed. Then she comes face to face with the only woman she’s ever loved, Az Elwood, and... well, things get messier than she thought they ever could.
The Elwoods are a staple of Moondale, respected, feared, powerful, and Azure Elwood was always happy with her place amongst them. Happy to play the part of the good little witch, until Rus Ashthorne. Eleven years ago, Rus got on a bus and left Azure behind, but she’s back, with two little girls trailing her like ducklings, and enough unspoken things between them to drown the town.
Now witch hunters are knocking at their proverbial door, the council of magic is being a real pain in the ass, and Rus wonders how much magic it’ll take to protect the people she loves from herself and the danger following her.

Interlude
This was written as part of Sapphic September and for the prompt “I don’t know what to feel right now.” by @rockmarina
Also on Ao3
Hermione knows she should be happy, should be ecstatic, should dance around the room and shout her joy into the sky. Instead here she stands, frozen brain racing with circling thoughts and everything else shutting down.
“I don't know what to feel right now.” The healer is nodding at her in understanding, as if it’s totally normal for the relatives of coma patients to stand outside the room, hesitant to go in. As if she is not holding everyone up because she can’t be happy already about this clearly good thing.
“What is there to know? It’s amazing that she woke up — a miracle! Go in there and say hello to your fiancée.” Ron's words, while well-intentioned, only serve to make her feel worse. She hasn't spoken to Pansy in 3 years, 3 years that seem like an eternity now. Hermione has been heartbroken when she was attacked and the healers couldn't fully bring her back, has spent countless days sitting by her bedside and reading to her, hoping she would wake up before she decided the pain was too much, that she couldn't do it anymore.
And now Pansy — her Pansy, the woman Hermione planned her life with, who organised her bookshelves to be aesthetically pleasing instead of according to theme and refused to back down, who is a surprisingly good cook and took to force-feeding Hermione when she was too lost in research, who could be annoying and stubborn and pretentious but who Hermione loved with all her heart — is awake. And Hermione doesn't know what to do.
She moved on with her life, she cried and grieved and hoped and then she moved on. She bought a new flat because she couldn't stand the empty spaces anymore and she packed all of Pansy's things that she couldn't let go off and hid them in the attic. She learnt to sleep without Pansy in her bed and to make her own food. She accepted that the life she had dreamed of won’t be happening. Except that now it could, Pansy isn't in a coma anymore, is a wake and healthy and once again a person, not just a body.
She will want her life back, will want to continue where they got interrupted and live the life they wanted. Hermione doesn't know if she can do that.
It sounds wonderful in theory — unpack the boxes in the attic, let Pansy rearrange the books again and make up for lost time. She wants that so much, wants it back so badly — she used to dream of this moment. But Hermione isn't the same person anymore, doesn't fit into the relationship they had anymore.
“Hermione?” Ron sounds seriously concerned now. Maybe she shouldn't have brought him; maybe she should have come alone. “Look, I don't understand what you are feeling right now, obviously, but you can talk to me about it, I can listen. This clearly isn't easy for you and if you can’t do this right now you don't have to, we could leave and come back later of you want.”
While the thought of going in there and face Pansy is terrible, deeply interwoven with disappointing her and confusion and hurt on both sides, the thought of leaving is worse. If Hermione leaves now, she won’t come back. She would give up on Pansy again; she would walk away and spend the rest of her life pretending she doesn't miss her. And Hermione has had enough of that in the last years to know that she doesn't want to do it ever again.
Forcing a smile for Ron she takes a deep breath, stands up a little straighter and knocks on the door.

Ginny Weasley x Pansy Parkinson
“What do you want?” Ginny asked.
Pansy glanced around again, then lifted her chin in an exaggerated display of confidence. So exaggerated that Ginny would have teased her for it any other time.
“I want you to kiss me,” Pansy said boldly. “Then I’ll tell you.”

Sapphic September Day 15
Emmett was certain his Monday was going to be better than his Sunday - it wouldn't even have been difficult! - but then it had started raining. He was mid-bite of his turkey sandwich when the downpour began, sitting in the park to enjoy a nice fall day. There'd been a tad bit of wind that morning, but nothing to forewarn the town of the impending torrent.
The rain fell fast and soaked Emmett right to his bones. His sandwich was ruined. He threw it into the trash knowing full well that some lucky bird or squirrel would be feasting on it soon.
"Hey, boss," Tarisa greeted him with a small giggle as he walked into the office. He was dripping on the floor - this was why they had linoleum. Emmett stuck his tongue out at Tarisa as he walked to his desk.
"Any calls come in while I was out?" Emmett asked. Tarisa shook her head. She was strapping on her holster. "Speed traps, T? On a Monday?"
Tarisa's responding laughter echoed off the walls and when the door snapped shut behind her, Emmett flinched. An ache curled around the base of his skull as Emmett started sorting through his paperwork. There wasn't much - a few complaints he needed to follow up on out in the county, and the file on Galvin Davies that Eleanora had asked for yesterday.
Emmett had already decided he'd drop Galvin's file off later - he'd seen Eleanora leaving the cemetery that morning, he had no desire to know what had put the frown on her face.
"Only one thing left on the to do list in town then…" Emmett stood with a sigh. He stacked the complaints and Galvin's file to hold underneath his jacket as he walked from the front door to his car.
The historic district was only a few blocks over and Amity Lawn was home. The man answered the door with fingers clinched on the frame.
"I already told you I didn't kill Ana," Amity somehow managed to look more like a ghost than the one that Emmett had actually seen. His eyes were ringed with tired circles and patches of his skin were so dry they'd started to crack.
Emmett nodded inwards, "I know, Mr. Lawn, I just had a few questions for you." They were Eleanora's questions in truth - she'd ask them of him and he hadn't known the answers.
"Alright." The fingers slipped from the door frame and Emmett walked inside. The house was just as spotless as it had been on his first visit last week. "Would you like some water or anything?" Amity walked with long strides into his kitchen.
"No, thank you, I don't want to take up too much of your time." Emmett could see the makings of a soup all lined up the counter.
Amity continued his cooking. He replaced each seasoning in its line as he stirred them into a broth. He was quick and quiet, efficient.
"You haven't been back in town long, I know," Emmett broached the subject slowly, "Has anyone been aggressive with you? Provocative?"
"What?" Amity's brow furrowed and his hand paused mid-stir.
Emmett sighed, "Is there anyone in town that might want to hurt you Amity?" Now the man snorted.
There was anger rising in Amity's eyes as his cheeks reddened, "The whole town comes to mind. I'm the reason Galvin is dead, and he was a popular man. A good man."
"One of the best," Emmett agreed. He shoved his hands in his pocket. "But I'm talking hate, Amity, not anger, not sadness. Who would want to watch you suffer?"
Amity's eyes dulled and his jaw went slack. "I…" he shook his head, "No one." He frowned into his pot. Emmett waited, let the silence fester. His eyes darted back up to the sheriff, "The only ones who've wanted to talk to me to since I got to town are you and Oriana."
"I know you and Ana were thinking of starting things up again? You chatted a few times, I remember you saying."
Emmett took a seat at the counter as Amity began to chop up some herbs. His hands moved deftly, palm pressed to the top of the knife. The tip of the blade never left the cutting board.
"Can you imagine that?" Amity murmured, "She still…she still wanted to give me a chance. Even after what I did." Amity shook his head. "I told her, I did, that Galvin was right about me - I'm no good for her, for anyone."
"Galvin thought you were angry, Amity, and he was right." Emmett ran his hand through his hair. "He said the same to me once, but he was also one of the first to support my bid for sheriff. Galvin would have recognized you're different now."
Amity just shrugged. He used his knife to pick up his chopped herbs. The slid down the blade into the waiting broth when he tilted it over the pot. "Ana said the same, she blamed herself for Galvin too. Thought we should put it behind her, but I think Domi… Dominique's got the right of it. You don't come back from stuff like that."
"You spoke to her?" Emmett's forehead creased. "When?"
"Ran into her at the graveyard, interrupt her, more like." Amity wiped his knife clean. "She was angry, told me to leave." His hands gripped the counter with white knuckles, "Her friend did too, but…"Amity shook his head, "Her friend scares me."
Emmett felt his spine stiffen. "Eleanora?" Amity shrugged. "Brunnette, short hair, average height, suspenders and slacks?" Amity nodded. "Why would she scare you?"
Amity blinked at him, head tilted, "Her eyes are empty."
It was still raining when Emmett left, but he was too inside his own head to care that the hem of his pants were being splattered with mood with each step. When he got to his car he looked at his stack of files and papers in the passenger seat. He slipped Galvin's file to the bottom and drove out of town.
Three follow ups - all of them complaints of minor vandalism on farms - took him little time at all. Rebellious teens were the common theory and Georgie had gotten a look at the boys who had spray painted the high school mascot on his barn. Lucky for them, Georgie was fine with an apology and some free labor in exchange for dropping the charges.
Eventually, Emmett ran out of excuses for not dropping by the Davies'. Nic answered the door with a raised eyebrow. Emmett held up his file, "Eleanora asked me for a favor."
"Haven't seen her much today," Nic waved him inside and pointed down the hall, "Last door on the right." Domi waved at him from the kitchen and Emmett felt his smile tighten before he heading for the guest room.
"Hey sheriff," Eleanora opened the door with a smile after the first knock. Emmett stared into her eyes. They were brown - like 80% of everybody else - and her pupils twitched as she stared back. "You okay?"
He had no idea, honestly, as he continued to stare. He offered her Galvin's file. She took it without breaking eye contact. Her eye lids lowered slightly as a frown pulled on her face.
"Sheriff?" One of the pupils constricted as the other dilated out. He blinked. They were the same size again, but the skin of her face was cracked, like Amity's, but red and bleeding.
He didn't hear her shout his name. He watched her mouth move as he crumpled down. Emmett couldn't not watch as cracks slip down her neck, spreading like a lava flow to leave bloody gashes all over her body. The red oozed over her clothes and dripped to the floor.
Domi's face moved into his sight line, obstructing his view with wide eyes and a flurry of hands. He felt her fingers press into his neck. Her hair grazed over his shoulder as she knelt over him.
It didn't click until then that he was on the floor.
